Hello all! Well, COVID has passed me, not with a bang but with a whimper. I.E., I got it, I think (never tested positive), but with very very faint symptoms, and I'm fine now, so phew. Also, I'm going to see the Book of Mormon this week (the play), so I'm hyped right now!

Which is quite a trick, given that he’s sitting in the dirt, his stork legs stretched out nearly from one side of the well to the other, and wearing a dirty and tattered Watford uniform. 

Still he manages to look better than me.

Aaaand...a tease from something I've been calling "Simon as a TikTok dancer" (but which is absolutely a lot more than that):

Shepard smiles at my apparent interest. “This footage still needs a lot of editing before I can post it. But we post it on the internet, which is a way everyone in the world can see it if they want. Hi all! This is gonna sound like a weird question but 🤷🏻‍♂️

I know there are ways to reverse individual spells and singular magical workings - but does anyone know of a clean slate spell? Something to use to re-start your magical practice and dispel past magical workings?

Book Review

For my next book review I will be covering "Protection & Reversal Magick: A Witch's Defense Manual" by Jason Miller. This book is another good beginner book specifically because most people get scared that something bad's going to happen to them when starting out any kind of magical practice.

The biggest selling point of the book is that it covers some of your more traditional folk practices two more ceremonial magic and everything in between. Jason Miller even mentions this by saying

"These different traditions of magick each emphasize different points, and what works as a defense against one may not work as a defense against another. Someone who relied solely on the Golden Dawn’s Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram or the OTO’s Star Ruby may find his defenses breached easily by someone laying Goofer Dust in his shoes. Similarly, someone who relies too heavily on Red Brick Dust and amulets may find himself vulnerable to the attacks of Goetic demons summoned by the ceremonialist."

And because of this, I would recommend this to anyone who kind of wants to get a feel of what both ceremonial and folk practices look like.

Now I'm going to move on to the only issues I had with the book. Just so people know what they're getting into before they spend money. A lot of the rituals are based on the goddess hecate. I don't work with her so I have had to alter them. That is something that can be easily done so it's not a major issue for me

Another thing is that it doesn't cover everything. For example I'm a fan of protective crystals on my window seals and door frames because those are super easy to conceal and explain away. Due to current living situation, I'm still very much in the broom closet. So I'm a big fan of anything that is inconspicuous and I can hide in plain sight. So even though I enjoyed this book, I don't use a lot of his techniques.

Even with those two issues aside, I would recommend this book. You're just not going to find another book that goes into such a wide variety of protection magic techniques. Because of that, anyone who reads this book should have a good foundation to start adding protection magic into their magical practice.

this realisation may come as a result of you experiencing a great financial blessing in your life, or having a financial burden lightened by some external force. you may get a job, a raise, a bursary or a scholarship. you may win the lottery. this is something substantial in your life, that makes you feel safe and secure in your life -- and, thus, by extension, safe and secure in yourself -- not just a one-off piece of financial assistance like someone lending you money. 

these next three months will bring you a lot to do, and you will have to toe the line between how much you do for others versus how much you do for yourself. you may have more money -- more consistent money -- than you've had in a long time, and you'll want to spoil your loved ones, help with bills, donate to charity, and buy things for yourself. you'll want to spend it freely, telling yourself it's fine because you'll get paid again soon. and while, yes, to an extent, it is fine and you will get paid again soon, you will still need to save as much money as possible. 

in these upcoming three months, as you experience a surge in financial blessings, be wise with your money, how you spend it and how you save it. and make sure you are allowing your future self to also experience this state of abundance by putting money aside for them.

the actor taz skylar (who plays sanji in the one piece live action) comes to mind. he has spoken about how he had wanted to join the british army as a reservist, however a car accident gave him a severe concussion which led to him failing medical tests and being unable to enlist. this, in turn, led him to acting and writing. 

so something which, in the moment may have seemed life-ending, which may have left him at a loss for what to do with his life, actually put him on the right path. 

that’s god’s intervention. that’s dharma – in the sense of the universe and your soul aligning with what you need to do in order for the world at large to remain harmoniously balanced. 

and that is what’s happening to you, now and in the next three months. 

you will feel like your life is falling apart around you. you will feel like your life is ending, but know that your life is not ending. your life is about to start.

She backs up a little, nodding frantically. “I know, Simon, I know. It’s your business. I’m just worried!”

“Well, don’t!” I shout

“That was…” Simon’s eyes are sparkling. Orgasms have always looked good on him. He looks like he’s searching for words. “That was tremendous, Baz.”

Long story short, I spent all of the fall term of school basically ignoring my coursework. And my failing grades violated the terms of my scholarship. I know Mitali Bunce, who took over after I killed the Mage, felt bad but there was nothing she could do. I was a nobody with no family, and there was no way I could afford the tuition at Watford academy without a scholarship. 

So I dropped out of school.  Or was kicked out. Whatever.

You could think, since they’re unrealistic, you might as well give up and choose to focus on other more pragmatic pursuits. If you must leave, leave the people and environments that don’t support your heart’s desires—don’t leave the desires and end up becoming very unhappy with yourself! you need to love yourself for your self-governance. you’re extremely emotionally aware. this may not be obvious from the outside, but you’re constantly aware of how you feel and how you would feel in certain situations. your empathy is grand and loud in the spirit realm. it’s felt and heard from far and wide on the metaphysical plane. that’s why you may struggle with spirits or presences trying to be all up in your grill at times 😂. they know that you can feel them, meaning that you’re aware of them unlike many other people. if you were practically invisible to a bunch of people and then came across someone who had the capacity to be aware of your presence, then you’d make yourself known too 👀. but your boundaries are also extremely strong, so you can separate yourself and perhaps even fight off anything and anyone that you need to. your big heart also attracts a lot of energetically vampiric people who are seeking to take the energy that you have. they know very well that they’re draining you but they don’t care because it benefits them. but with the 2 of pentacles, in these situations, you know when to just drop all of the responsibilities that you’re carrying (that you shouldn’t be) and regain balance in your life by refusing to do anything. you fight against expectations put onto you. if you don’t want to do something (and you don’t need to do it), then you won’t do anything. period. i heard that “you move on divine timing”. it doesn’t matter if other people want you to move, if you feel it’s not time to move, you won’t. your stubbornness is something to love about yourself. it saves you from a lot. your dedication to yourself and your own energetic protection is loveable about you.

I’ve been thinking a lot about Laurence’s eyes changing color and then I was cooking on a gas stove and then I saw the flames. And they were Blue. They reminded me of Laurance’s eyes. And then I started thinking.

What if all Shadow Knight’s eyes change color? And that has some sort of link to their internal power level? Like how effective their soul is as fuel for whatever necromancy they’re experiencing?

And it wouldn’t just have to be limited to the red (low tier/cooler flames) to white (high tier/hottest flames) color spectrum because different materials can cause different flame colors. For example, cesium and potassium create purple hued flames, like Sasha’s eye color. But then the question becomes what causes different souls to act as a different material?

I don’t know yet! Maybe magicks in the soul could act as a sort of differing fuel source, or maybe feelings when turned could influence it, I dunno! Open to anyone’s thoughts though!

Anyway of course this then leads to a sort of built in caste system with the Shadow Knights. Bottom of the barrel, weak, disposable, would be shades of red. This is where I imagine Zenix may actually land, just...add to his Issues. Then it goes to orange which may be moreso the norm/standard color most knights have, yellow, and then white which is the most powerful and revered.

And then it comes to blue flames, they only occur when there’s a differing material, or when minimal soot and carbon dioxide are at play, so in a way you could say blue flame occurs when the flame is...pure. Irene’s blessing could not reverse what happened to Laurance, but it could purify it.

I’m about to click Baz’s email when I hesitate. What if it’s a virus? Baz would send me a virus. He would disappear for weeks just to get me messed up and then send me magickal malware that will explode out of my laptop and level Mummers. That’s exactly something he would do, because he’d know. He’d know that even if the bloody subject line was “This Is A Virus,” I couldn’t resist. I would open it. I open it. - The Humdrum can’t get what he needs when Simon is too distracted by Baz’s disappearance to go off. He has to find a new way to get to him, and if Baz is the only thing that can hold Simon’s attention, well, the Humdrum can work with that. Probably.
