So I think it's time to stop pretending Fox News is anything but the Black Rifle Coffee of right wing news. They're happy to take our money, but in reality they don't share our values. And this isn't just about Carlson. That's just the latest sign. They've been slipping for years, but in all honesty we should have abandoned them after their shameful coverage of the 2020 election, where they called a close race in Arizona early but refused to call Florida even when it would have taken a miracle for Biden to win. The people who run Fox are more interested in currying favor with the left wing establishment that hates them instead of actually standing with the people who have made them the highest rated cable news network for years. It's beyond time to abandon Fox and look for alternatives. What those alternatives are, I'll leave up to you guys to decide for yourselves. But don't jump into a camp and then refuse to examine its faults. Even conservative media is still media. And the media is still the enemy of the people.

House Oversight Committee Impeachment hearing produces damning evidence—against Donald Trump.
It is difficult to describe how badly the House impeachment hearing went for Republicans on Wednesday. Republicans produced two witnesses who were supposed to damage President Biden. But the witnesses were jokes. The first—Tony Bobulinksi—famously met with Mark Meadows “under the bleachers” at a Trump rally while wearing a ski mask.  Who among us hasn’t done the same thing when chatting about innocent matters? The second witness testified from prison, where he is serving time for looting the retirement funds of a tribal entity of the Oglala Lakota Nation.
Both witnesses testified to brief meetings where Joe Biden talked about their families and backgrounds. Neither testified that Joe Biden—then a private citizen—was involved in any business dealings with Hunter Biden. And that was the highlight of the day for Republicans.
Then Lev Parnas testified. If you don’t remember Lev Parnas, he is a Ukrainian American businessman tasked by Rudy Giuliani to “find dirt” on Joe Biden.
Parnas’s testimony was devastating. See CNN, Lev Parnas, ex-Giuliani associate, testified allegations against Bidens are false and 'spread by the Kremlin'
CNN described Parnas’s testimony as follows:
“The American people have been lied to, by Donald Trump, Rudy Giuliani and various cohorts of individuals in government and media positions. They created falsehoods to serve their own interests knowing it would undermine the strength of our nation." “Congressman Pete Sessions [and] Senator Ron Johnson and many others understood they were pushing a false narrative. The same goes for John Solomon, Sean Hannity and media personnel, particularly with Fox News, who use this narrative to manipulate the public ahead of the 2020 elections. Sadly, they are still doing this today as we approach the 2024 elections.” Parnas maintained during the hearing that there was no evidence of Biden family corruption involving Ukraine and that the baseless accusations against the president came from the Russian government.
"The only information ever pushed on the Bidens and Ukraine has come from one source and one source only: Russia and Russian agents.”
So, the guy who was hired to find dirt on Joe Biden anywhere in the world testified that there was none to be found—and that the false allegations came from Russian agents.
At this point, efforts by House Republicans to repeat the false allegations spread by Russian agents should be seen as promoting counter-intelligence and election interference efforts against the US.

"... Fox News, after agreeing to a $787.5 million settlement with Dominion in 2023, is still up against a $2.7 billion civil defamation lawsuit from Dominion competitor Smartmatic..."
"...But according to CNN's Marshall Cohen, lawyers for Smartmatic are alleging that OAN "may have engaged in criminal activities" following the 2020 election..."

Really American - RightWing Media turns on Marjorie Taylor Greene as she makes a total fool of herself
MTG. When it comes to the climate issue, she acts as if she knows more, understands it better, than people who have been studying the issue for decades. Honest? She is simply embarrassing, pathetic and should be kicked out of politics. When it comes to Ukraine, does she side with Putin? How in love with Putin can someone be? MTG like this: Yesssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss… She has never dealt with Russia, with Putin, with Ukraine, otherwise she would know that Putin is not trustworthy for a second and that he doesn't give a fuck about the West or a fuck about America.

“The Daily Show” said today’s conservatives ― including former President Donald Trump, Fox News host Tucker Carlson and GOP lawmakers Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebert ― sound a lot like some of the nation’s most infamous racists.
A new supercut matches up recent comments made by voices on the right to those made by KKK figures, such as David Duke.

Fox News personalities have falsely claimed throughout the Biden administration that President Joe Biden’s policies are making the U.S. “energy dependent” on foreign countries — particularly when it comes to oil — and that the administration is cutting production of energy. But these debunked political attacks are undermined by the real data: The U.S. is producing more energy than ever before; the U.S. is a net exporter of oil and producing more petroleum than at any time in our history; oil imports are lower now than they were during every year of the Trump administration prior to the COVID-19 pandemic; and the U.S. recently became the world's largest exporter of liquified natural gas.

Just learned that Claudine Gay was forced to resign at Harvard after initially weathering the backlash to her Congressional testimony last month. I’m stunned, because I thought if any institution in this country I call the Union States of America could withstand the new McCarthyism masquerading as anti-anti-Semitism, it’d be Harvard. (And please note I’m inaugurating a new era for this Tumblr, making my own statements after collecting all the others—that is, others’.)
And while it’s highly ironic that a Black woman such as Gay should be charged with “inadequate citation,” it’s also unfortunate that she apparently did indeed omit some quotation marks in her early work. I’m no Gay, of course, but that’s why I was fanatical about zero-error attribution in my own scholarship and teaching. I guess this is because I was a journalist prior to entering academia, and specifically a factchecker at the beginning of my editorial career; I knew writers and publications could get sued for such mistakes (and were).
Anyway, speaking about lawsuits: the recent DEI SCOTUS case that Harvard had a role in was also at play here, per Nia T. Evans at Mother Jones.
