Considering that tokyo is getting kind of wrecked right now I'm sure it can be arranged for mahiru and the other teenage eves to get a break after the final fight, but right now it's the 30th of august in the manga and doesn't that mean that summer break is over soon?😅
Imagine going through about three months of constant serious drama and fights, trying to save people from dying and attempting to end a conflict that has been brewing for centuries...and then you have to go back to school.
And mahiru's school is still destroyed so what school will he go to now? Will he become a student at misono's school? Then misono would finally have a friend there and with mahiru now knowing about his family ties to C3 I don't see why he shouldn't go there.

General Shuichi Saihara Dating Headcanons
You've gotta be very careful with him! He gets flustered very easily!
Tumblr media
No, seriously. Even something as simple as hand-holding can leave him red in the face and stammering over his words if he's not used to it.
But once he is, he prefers to be touching you at all times. He's seen a lot of tragedy and death, due to his career choice, so he always worries for the worst and tries to protect you with everything he has. He doesn't want that same fate to befall you. He's worried that if he takes his eyes off of you for even a second, something horrible could happen and you could be ripped away from him forever.
Lets you hog the blankets at night and/or cuddle up to him however you see fit. He likes cuddling you and he likes that you trust him to protect you while you sleep!
When it comes to dates... He is so anxious. He worries about everything, from whether or not you'll like the flowers he bought for you to whether or not he picked a place that was too casual/fancy.
Please reassure him. Please. He deserves it.
If you ever go on a date and see a game, such as at a carnival, he will literally spend all the money he has in his wallet at the time trying and possibly failing to win you something.
He knows how low the likelihood of winning is, and he knows that you love him, but he wants to be seen as someone who can provide for you, so he's definitely more than pleased to see the happy look on your face if and when he succeeds.
Although he loves to protect and care for you, sometimes he needs that care returned, too!
Sometimes, he has really hard days at work. His boss is on his ass, his coworkers boss him around even though he's the Ultimate Detective, and overall, it just feels like his life is falling apart.
On these days, he usually just tackles you wherever you are, and lays in your arms until he passes out. He just wants to forget, and you help him do that. He sees you as the most comforting figure in his life. Treasure that.
Although he doesn't have much of an opinion on kids —if you want them, you can have them, and if not, you don't have to— he definitely wants at least two cats!
You probably end up with four cats, each named after something that reminds him of one of his friends.
Symphony for Kaede, Luna for Kaito, Sparky for Kiibo, and Blade for Maki. Those are people he considers his closest friends, and he would be remiss if he didn't try to honor them in some way. They make him happy, so something that reminds him of those pleasant memories is sure to do the same.
His favorite nicknames for you are "Jellybean" and "Petal". To him, they're sentimental without being cliche. You remind him of a petal, soft and delicate, but also sweet like a jellybean.
He's honestly the easiest person in the world to please, he never wants to see you upset or unhappy. All you have to do is flash a smile his way and it's like he fell head-over-heels again.
Shuichi has a big sweet tooth! If you two ever have a big fight, the easiest thing to do is just to hand him a box of cookies and watch him snuggle up to your side on the couch. He'll offer you his cookies, though, he's not mean. >:T
Sometimes, when he's stressed, he likes it when you play with his hair. Braid it, put it in ponytails, style it, put hairclips in it, he doesn't care. Just touch his hair. :>
Makeouts are a very common thing with you two! Not for any particular reason, and it usually doesn't escalate, but because Shuichi likes to feel close to you.
He isn't the most fond of PDA. He'll try occasionally for you, but no more than hand-holding and maaaaaaybe one kiss per day or else he'll malfunction.
And by that, I mean that he'll be roughly the same shade as Mahiru's hair-
If you can tolerate his friends, he loves you even more for that. They're not normal in terms of personality, but they're his friends, regardless. No matter how weird. Not all of them are easy to deal with, like Kokichi, Angie, and Miu. And if you can handle them without snapping? He's going to marry you, he's convinced you're a saint.
As for your future? He does envision one of two things: either a quiet little future with the two of you in a small community with a safe neighborhood, maybe some pets, definitely a garden... or a life with multiple kids, whether biological or adopted, where you have a happy family.
He's so anxious about meeting your parents/you meeting his uncle. He has so many thoughts running through his head. What if they don't like me? What if they don't approve of us being together? Will S/O leave me to appease their parents? Would I be banned from seeing them again?
Somebody help him, he's teetering on the verge of a panic attack.
Your parents absolutely love him— How can they not? He's sweet, he's gentle, he's kind, he has a stable job, he clearly loves you with all his heart...
And vice versa! His uncle thinks you're amazing and a perfect fit for his nephew.
A cute couples' activity that he likes to do with you is baking! Partially for his own sweet tooth, and partially because the mess-ups are adorable. Flour everywhere? No problem, you both can clean it later!
Don't like sweets? Cooking is a suitable alternative! And he knows some damn good recipes he can make at any given time. All you have to do is ask, and he's already in the kitchen to make it for you.
You two alternate between chores. Some days he cooks and you clean, and some days you cook and he cleans. If one of you happens to be ill, then the other takes over both until they feel better because y'all are wholesome and sweet like that. 😌
Speaking of! Shuichi gets colds really easily and has bad pollen allergies, and it would mean the absolute world to him if you took care of him while he's sick.
"Shuichi, eat the soup! It'll make you feel better to get something warm in your belly!"
"S-S/O, stoooop..."
After a while, you manage to get him to eat it, don't worry. He isn't very fussy when he's sick, anyway.
He buys you gifts a lot! Usually, nothing huge, just little trinkets he happens to see while he's out that remind him of you. Mostly Starbursts.
You- You get Starbursts a lot...
Overall, a very healthy and sweet relationship with an equally sweet man who wants the very best for you, no matter the circumstances of anything else!
He loves you so much, someone help him-

Jekuni or Mahisono :3
RIP I LOST YOU ON THE SECOND PAGE OF MY ASKBOX sorry Husky!!
Since I already did Jekuni, Mahisono it is!
Okay so. Mahisono is one of those ships where it’s like. No matter how platonic you intend to write it, because of the way their relationship is structured, it always reads like a saccharinely sweet teenage romance, complete with handholding, awkward firsts, and happy, slightly self conscious blushes.
This is absolutely due to just… How genuinely sweet both Mahiru and Misono are!! Mahiru is the boy next door and Misono is the sheltered little prince and that dynamic makes their interactions so fun and cute. The clashing of their different worlds is extremely fun to think about, especially in the context of Mahiru introducing a suddenly shy Misono to his normal friends (Mahiru teases him and gets hit with a punch that feels like absolutely nothing) and Mahiru accompanying Misono to business get together a as a plus one (it’s both intimidating and cool to see Misono so in his element, and also he and Lily talk like mean girls it’s hilarious)
Underneath all that sugar and fluff though there’s… A bittersweet understanding, between the two of them. The way they grew up might have been extremely different just from a basic point of view, but their origins? Children born to women out of wedlock, the perceived idea that maybe they are the cause for their mothers coming to ruin, the comfort to be taken in loving each other that doesn’t come with that emotional baggage… Being able to speak frankly of what they do and don’t understand. It’s like they did a speed run of childhood friends to lovers lmao. With their comfort level towards one another? It is VERY easy to mistake them as having known each other for much longer than they do.
Not to mention Misono being raised in a very… Westernized household, I suppose you could say it, plays nicely with Mahiru’s lack of boundaries stemming from how he craves acceptance and affection. If Misono says Mahiru deserves to have a family, that he sees Mahiru as PART of his family, well. Mahiru has no reason not to believe him.
Both of them are children born from love, even if at times, they may struggle to love themselves

Summary: Mahiru takes Kuro shopping for clothes. (KuroMahi)
“Going outside is already troublesome enough but why did you have to drag me shopping so late at night? Can’t deal.” Kuro complained from where he leaned against a display rack. He watched Mahiru pick out a few shirts and he noted they were a few sizes too big for him. “Are you buying a gift for one of your friends? Shouldn’t you take them shopping to know their size?”
“This is for you. You can’t wear my uncle’s pajamas forever.” Mahiru corrected him. His answer surprised Kuro and he didn’t know how he should respond to his words. He couldn’t remember the last time someone gave him a gift. Since Mahiru was focused on the clothes, he didn’t notice the mixture of emotions on Kuro’s face. He continued, “Thinking simply, we have to go shopping at night so we can see whether these clothes fit you. Can you take off your jacket?”
“As you wish,” He spoke in a sarcastic tone but he unbuttoned his jacket. With a few shirts over his arm, Mahiru stood in front of Kuro and then he held one against his body. He lightly ran his hands over the fabric and he smoothed it over his shoulders. He couldn’t help but notice how broad his shoulders were and he was reminded of his strength. His fluffy jacket hid his lean muscles.
“You don’t need to buy me clothes. My jacket is a part of my powers and it won’t get dirty or be ripped.” Kuro didn’t add that his regular clothes were things he stole from clothesline and laundromats. Before Mahiru picked him up, he was homeless and he needed to steal to survive. He hesitated to tell him because he didn’t want him to judge him.
Kuro saw himself as a monster. He assumed Mahiru would either be scared of him or see him as a weapon after he defeated Belkia. However, he only treated him with kindness and understanding. He never had a contract before and he was grateful Mahiru was his first. He would complain about the chores he gave him but those things were outweighed by his bright smile. In the week since they made their contract, he almost felt as if was a human again and they were regular roommates.
“I think this shirt will fit you best but you should try it on to make sure. I’ll hold onto your jacket while you’re in the changing room.” Mahiru said as he handed him the shirts he held. He chose the sizes at random so he could find what would fit him best. Then, he took Kuro’s jacket from him and he lightly nudged him towards the changing area.
“I never had an Eve before and my siblings didn’t tell me it would be so troublesome. You like to give me commands.” Kuro’s words were followed by a small chuckle that told Mahiru that he wasn’t truly upset. He rolled his eyes at his feigned annoyance but he also had to smile. Mahiru didn’t expect to enjoy his dry humour as much as he did.
They walked to the back of the store and Kuro disappeared behind the curtain of a changing room. Mahiru sat on one of the seats arranged in the center and he waited for him to try on the clothes. He looked down at the blue jacket on his lap and he played his fingers through its thick fur. It was surprisingly soft and he wondered whether Kuro’s hair would feel the same. He blushed and he tried to push the thoughts from his mind.
Mahiru recognized the warm butterflies he felt around Kuro as a crush but he had only been attracted to girls before. He wanted to tell himself that he was merely more self-conscious around Kuro because he never lived with anyone aside from family. The blossoming feelings Kuro gave him was both new and familiar for him. He wished his uncle was home so he could ask him for advice. His uncle wouldn’t judge him if he was gay or bi.
“Your jacket is a part of your power. I’m still trying to wrap my mind around the existence of vampires and magic. Is that why the tails move during fights?” Mahiru spoke with Kuro through the thin curtain to keep himself from thinking of his own feelings too deeply. “I hope I can still wash it normally with the rest of our clothes. It might be supernatural but we should still wash it.”
“You’re going to be angry when I tell you this but I honestly don’t know. I lived as a stray cat for the last three hundred years so I forgot how to do laundry.” Kuro told him. He expected to hear a frustrated sigh from Mahiru.
Instead, he said: “Well, you’re not a cat, you’re a person and you need to learn how to do chores again. I can’t imagine how you survived eating so little as a cat. What do you want for breakfast tomorrow? Oh, before you ask for instant ramen, that’s not a proper breakfast.”
As they talked, Mahiru absentmindedly toyed with the fur on his jacket to keep his hands busy. The large jacket was draped over his legs like a blanket and he could easily imagine it reaching his knees if he wore it. He glanced at the dressing room curtain and he reasoned that Kuro would take another few minutes changing. He wouldn’t mind if he tried it on quickly. Mahiru slipped his arms through the sleeves and he pulled the large jacket around him.
He assumed Kuro’s jacket would be heavy and overwhelming with its fur lining so Mahiru was surprised by how warm and comfortable it was. He would compare the jacket to its owner and he smiled to himself. Before Kuro, he never pictured someone holding him in a romantic scenario. The image came easily to him with Kuro.
He was distracted by the daydream and he didn’t hear Kuro open the curtain. “Were you cold, Mahiru?”
“Oh, just a little.” Mahiru rushed to answer. He prayed that Kuro didn’t notice his blush as he shyly pulled the hood tighter around himself to hide how red his face was. “I hope you don’t mind that I’m borrowing your jacket.”
“Well, you’re buying clothes for me so you can borrow my jacket whenever you want.” Kuro shrugged and Mahiru was relieved that he didn’t seem to mind. Then, his heart quickened again after he felt him pat his head. “I checked the tag on my shirt for my size. I’m a large. We should’ve thought of that sooner and saved ourselves time trying on clothes and buying them online instead.”
“I guess that is the simple solution. But, wouldn’t you say it’s nice to get out like this once in a while?”
After thinking for a moment, Kuro had to agree with him. “Going out like this is nice.”

Starira MBTI II - Siegfeld
These were the most fun to write up.
Seisho
Siegfeld
Frontier
Rinmeikan
Michiru Otori: ENFJ
Oh my woof woof...My evil little girlboss. i love you sooooo soooooo so much. Michiru is fake as fuck and soooooo evil and funny. She's the final entry I'm writing because I wanted to save the best for last.
She is the perfect example of how manipulative and conniving Fe doms can be (we even see a teeny tiny bit of this in Nana - see how she tricks Kaoruko into doing work in their My Theatre conversations). Michiru is also a visionary - she has a very distinct plan for the future that she’s always working towards (aux Ni), but you’d never guess that about her at first glance. She works very hard to maintain an affable, easygoing, approachable persona to contrast with Te dom Akira’s more intimidating and domineering one (dom Fe). I can’t say that I’ve seen her use too much of that tertiary Se, but her Ni and Fe are so strong that I have absolutely no doubt that she’s an ENFJ. We definitely see that inferior Ti struggle to catch up with Akira’s dominant Te reasoning for prioritizing Elysion over the Performance Festival, though, because Michiru’s Ni is thinking so far--too far, she comes to realize--ahead.
I could talk more about how smart and pragmatic and intuitive Michiru is, but we’d be stuck here all day. She’s my evil little girlboss, yes, but she also cares for her friends so much. At the end of the day, she’s an Fe dom, and that mastermind auxiliary Ni comes second - everything she does is to uplift and benefit the people around her. That dominant extroverted Feeling is what allows her to pick up on Akira’s potential from that day in their childhood - and auxiliary Ni instantly begins setting a plan into motion for how to get there. Why doesn’t Michiru try for the throne herself, then? Well, maybe there’s some deep-seated insecurity towards Akira and their relationship that we’re not seeing. It has always intrigued me so much as to why she prefers to work in the background. It would be fine if she truly preferred to stay in the shadows - that’s a normal thing for a lot of people to want, and they thrive there. But I’ve always had the feeling that isn’t quite the case for her…Sometimes she says things that make me think she desires more.
But again, she’s an Fe dom - her mind is geared towards thinking about other people, about what’s best for the group. And we see that once more when she’s perfectly poised to win the Arcana revue against Shiori, when she flippantly remarks at the start that there’s no way in hell that she’s losing to her - but then she sees how hard Shiori is trying, the potential she has to succeed her the role of Frau Saphir one day, how much she’s grown and come into her own and found a cause to fight for, while Michiru is is too far stuck in the future...and dominant Fe stamps that conniving auxiliary Ni down, and she rips off her own jacket for her kouhai.
Akira Yukishiro: ESTJ
Funnily enough, the “extroverted” ESTJ actually tends to be a bit more socially reserved than their “introverted” ISTJ siblings - this is because ESTJs have Feeling in their inferior slot, while ISTJs have it in their Tertiary (compare her to ISTJ Junna, who as a class leader actively goes out of her way to interact with the other girls and make sure everyone’s included, while Akira bothers herself only with the Edels). ESTJ’s extroversion instead manifests in their desire to control, order, and yes, be on top, just like Akira’s ENTJ cousin Claudine. Akira is a Te dom and Si aux, so she’s all about leading by example and doing it by the tried-and-true. This is why she fits so well into the role of the quintessential emperor/king, but as I mentioned with her inferior Fi, doesn’t actually have any charisma beyond what Fe-dom Michiru has manufactured for her (it's explicitly stated that Akira is even more revered than Edels of old - yes, due to her phenomenal and unparalleled talent, but also because Michiru actively works to cultivate an image that makes her untouchable). This is exactly why her relationship with Michiru works so well. It’s only natural that two extroverted judgers aimed for Siegfeld - and absolutely thrive there.
Her tertiary Ne, meanwhile, is why a lot of people (myself included) love her interactions with Yachiyo and Aruru (Ne doms). Akira’s Ne and Fi are weak, but she’s very smart and - contrary to first impressions - isn’t a stubborn person when she trusts the competency of the people around her (Te). And that’s thanks to her Ne. She lives for the stage, it’s her pride and joy, and when she sees people who are doing something that pay ode to it well - whether that’s ENFP Aruru’s excitable and childlike Ne-Fi or ENTP Yachiyo’s more pragmatic and intellectually curious Ne-Ti, she is quick to place her trust in them. Akira surprises the other two school leaders in the event story when she tells them they’d be wise to learn from Karen and Aruru’s senses of wonder, and Yachiyo’s passion for the stage - though wildly different from Akira’s own - is what makes her confident in her decision to pass the throne off to her.
Shiori Yumeoji: ISFJ
A PERFECT example of using dominant Si is when Shiori inhabits the role of the Chariot to draw out the strength and energy she needs during her revue with Michiru - introverted Sensing is all about deriving from past experiences and using them to inform the present!
And she and Tamao are!! The same!! Type!! Which is so interesting to me! ISFJs are so sweet and kind and caring (they and INFPs are actually often mistaken for each other - compare her to Mahiru!) - but there’s an inner fire to them that can be so easy to miss! I can’t think of a single fictional ISFJ I’ve met that didn’t, at some point, become incredibly insane and unhinged! I’m not sure what it is, but if I had to guess I think it’s that inferior Ne showing up, kicking down the door, and going “I’M HEEEEEEEEEEEEREEEEEEE BITCHESSSSSSSSSS”
Anyway - textbook ISFJ. So, so sweet and demure (Si dominant, Fe auxiliary - both are so concerned with standards, group sentiment, how things were done before, how everyone is feeling - so so so accommodating but can end up becoming doormats). We see that Si a lot in her woes towards her sister - “we were supposed to do this, we were supposed to be this,” etc. etc...hell the only reason in the first place that she joins the Edels is because of her original promise with Fumi. Tend to keep their inner thoughts and machinations to themselves (Ti tertiary). Prone to snapping and going insane if they get pushed/bothered too much (Ne inferior) - I legitimately think that Ne is the scariest function to have in your inferior slot. Godspeed, ladies.
Another fun note: she and Yachiyo are polar opposites, something I never noticed until just now. Interesting lmao
Liu Mei Fan: ENFJ
I had to check her PDB page to get her type because I honestly had no clue! She was the most difficult for me! But after seeing her listed as ENFJ I went “...hm?” and then went “oh yeah.”. Because she reminds me of Sonia Nevermind from Dangan Ronpa LMAOOOOO. FORGIVE ME FOR THIS COMPARISON. IT’S NOT BECAUSE OF THE EXCHANGE STUDENT THING!! They just have the same personality type, and it kind of manifests itself in the same way - despite the stereotype being that Fe doms are always very socially conscious and suave, these two are both a quirkier/more awkward type of ENFJ, and at first glance both could pass off as their happy-go-luckier ENFP or ESFP cousins instead...if you’re just looking at the letters. But when you look at their actual functions, they’re both ENFJ as they come! See how different two people of the same type can be?! She and Michiru share a type! Mei Fan is a well-meaning, driven Fe-dom in a strict Si-heavy environment like Siegfeld’s, and it’s SO funny to watch her dominant Fe desperately try to adjust her personality as she goes to fit in properly (while Michiru watches like 🙂 , Shiori is right there with her desperately adjusting (Fe aux), and Yachiyo doesn’t give a shit and does her own thing anyway). Our beloved shimbo has Ti in her last slot which isn’t surprising given her penchant to speak before she thinks, and Se in her tertiary slot which shows up in, again, her physicality (MUSCLEMAN MEI FAN HIGH-INTENSITY JOCK TRAINING IN THE MOUNTAINS). Aux Ni showed itself in that ceaseless determination to become an Edel, and her constant work towards shaping herself into an ideal one to impress Akira (and achieve her own goals in surpassing Akira herself!). Just compare her to dom Ne Yachi, who could care less about any of that stuff and goes her own way.
Yachiyo Tsuruhime: ENTP
“What do I wish for? World peace and happiness for everyone, I guess.” The moment I saw this homescreen quote I knew she was an ENTP - somebody else on her PDB page actually pointed it out too lmao. ENTPs are the “devil’s advocate” type which can lead to ruffling a lot of other peoples’ feathers, but Yachiyo is a bit suaver than that (developed tertiary Fe). Granted, she doesn’t escape the stereotype completely - she has a lot of fun in teasing the Fe-aux and Fe-dom Shiori and Mei Fan respectively, though she would never dare to do the same to Michiru. As we learn through the main story, there’s something that appears insidious about her at first glance - but that’s genuinely all it is, a first impression. She keeps to herself, yes, but Yachiyo’s an actress to the core, and her greatest love is the stage, just like (if not more than) all of the other girls around her. Yachiyo’s unique in that she breaks some of the typical Starira model of seeing her partner as her greatest inspiration - she’s not invested in a person like Shiori is with her sister or Michiru and Mei Fan are in Akira - Yachiyo pursues the stage solely for her own fulfillment and desires. Everything is a curiosity to her (Ne feeding Ti - how can I make sense of this world, and what can I do for myself to gain access to more information and experiences, because I’m always, always hungry for more). Her inferior Si shows up in how much she contrasts Akira, who is an Si-aux - just look at the unconventional way she found to practice her acting (pretending to be a spy snooping on the Edels), compared to Akira’s more conventional methods of stringent, scheduled practice.

Tropical Vacation pt 8
Well, this isn't the fic I was planning to release next, but oh well-- I was feeling It.
Hey hi hello dolls! It's been a long ass time since I've updated this series, and unfortunately there aren't many tickles in this part, but there Is a ton of fluff! either the next part or the part after will be chock full of tickles! (Or both)
I hope It's alright!
Characters In this part: All of DR1 girls excluding Junko and Mukuro, All of the DR2 girls. Lee!Chihiro
Word count: 3429
All previous parts, as well as my other fics, can be found here!: Masterlist
Hina kicked at the sand absentmindedly as she gazed longingly out at the water. “Man, I really missed seeing the ocean but…” She crossed her arms and made a face. “What good Is it If I can’t swim in it!? I’m like a fish, If I don’t swim In water I’ll die!!”
Sakura smiled amusedly at her best friend. She can be so dramatic sometimes… “Hina, they said It was safe to swim In…”
“Yeah but Monokuma didn’t give me any of my swimsuits…” She mumbled dejectedly, kicking a rock into the water.
Yeah, they didn’t exactly get the chance to pack their stuff or even ask Monokuma for specific things from their rooms. Aside from the morning announcements he hasn’t even shown up-- not that anyone besides Byakuya was complaining.
“Ugh!! That’s It!” Hina ripped off her red jacket and tossed it to Sakura. “Hold my jacket, I’m going In!”
The Martial artist fumbled the piece of clothing, caught off guard by the swimmers sudden outburst. She quickly grabbed the brunette’s arm to stop her. “W-Wait! Instead of doing that… Why don’t we just go find the store and see If it carries swimsuits?” She suggested.
As usual Sakura was the voice of reason amongst the chaotic gays.
Hina paused, thinking it over. “Okay… That sounds good In theory, But what if they don’t carry them?”
“Then I’m sure they’ll carry donuts… we’ll get some to cheer you up then ask Usami if she knows where the swimsuits are.”
Aoi giggled as she took her jacket back from the tall girl and tied it around her waist. “I like the way you think!” She grinned. “Let’s go!”
“Alright, Let’s just ask Nekomaru where the store Is.”
They both looked to Neko, who had stuck around to keep an eye on Mondo.
“No need! I can show you where it is if you want.” Mahiru volunteered, suddenly behind the two.
Hina squeaked as they both quickly turned to face the Photographer.
“Sorry! I didn’t mean to scare you both.” The red head apologized with a sympathetic smile.
“Geez Mahiru!” Hina giggled, placing her hand over her still racing heart. “You got me good!”
“Are you sure? We don’t want to trouble you.”
Mahiru nodded with a smile. “I’m sure. Actually, I was coming to find you two. Apparently Usami has something to tell us girls...”
The two tensed. It’s not a motive, Is it?
“What do you think It is?” Hina asked as she started walking with Sakura and Mahiru.
“I’m honestly not sure. Normally she gathers all of us, not just the girls.” Mahiru responded.
As they crossed over the bridge to the second island, the girls of both classes came into view. Even Toko, surprisingly.
“Hey Toko!” Hina waved her hand at the writer. “Glad to see you out of your room!” she smiled as she turned to face her.
“W-Where Ha-Have you two b-b-been?!”
“We were checking out the beach.” Aoi answered. “Sorry, did we worry you?”
“D-Don’t b-be ridiculous! Why w-w-would I worry a-about you m-m-meatheads?!” she blushed.
Hina smiled and wrapped her arms around the awkward girl’s shoulders in a hug. “Aww, You WERE worried about us!”
“S-Shut up!” Toko blushed even more, batting the brunette away.
Soon enough, Usami appeared out of nowhere. Much like they were used to Monokuma doing. “Love love! Hello everyone!” She greeted the group cheerfully. “I hope you are all getting along okay!”
“We’re doing fine, Usami.” Chiaki smiled, patting Chihiro on the shoulder. She had brought them along and wanted to include them In on whatever Usami had planned.
“I’m glad to hear that.” Usami replied. “As some of you may know, I no longer have my magic stick…”
“Magic stick?” Sakura repeated quietly, confused.
“It’s a long story.” Mahiru whispered back.
“But It appears that Monokuma must have one of his own. Because there’s some new buildings on this island!” Usami explained, surprised. “One of such buildings, Is a women’s clothing boutique. Which is why I asked you all here.”
Sonia’s face brightened. “Really?? Wow! That Is wonderful!”
“I thought I should tell you all first before I told the boys.” Usami giggled. “I thought It might be a nice chance to bond with the other class’s girls.”
“And enby.” Chiaki and Mahiru both said at the same time. Chihiro smiled at the two girls In response.
“Right! I’m sorry, I’ll remember that for next time!” Usami apologized. “Anyway! There’s also a spa on the Island! So enjoy yourselves!”
She disappeared from sight, leaving the group to talk amongst themselves.
“This has to be a trick of some kind.” Kyoko said thoughtfully. “A motive, Maybe?”
“Yeah, I am not trusting It either.” Peko agreed.
“It’s gotta be a motive, It’s been too peaceful!” Hina chimed in.
“What If Monokuma put ‘Saw’ movie level traps in the clothing?” Ibuki theorized. “And the moment we put on the clothes-- SQUISH! BLEH! Off with our heads!”
Mahiru cringed at the gory sounds Ibuki tried to make, sighing softly. “I doubt he would have time to do that. But It’s definitely suspicious…”
“And why only things for girls?” Akane thought aloud. “It seems like a trap.”
“I think we should check It out regardless.” Celeste smiled. “I think a spa trip sounds lovely, perhaps even worth the risk.”
“I GOT IT!” Hina yelled in realization, all attention now on her. “WHAT IF MONOKUMA PUT SHARKS IN THE SPA?!”
“This again…? H-Hina I doubt there Is enough water for sharks in the spa.” Sakura sighed. She loved this girl, but sometimes she could be a bit… out there.
“She might actually be onto something.” Kyoko surprisingly agreed with her wild theory after a moment of thinking.
“H-H-How wo-would that e-even be possible?” Toko stammered in disbelief.
“Maybe not specifically sharks, but that would be the least suspecting place to put something dangerous.” The detective calmly theorized. “It may be too dangerous to check out without more muscle power.”
“Why do we need more muscle power? Sakura, Peko an’ I can handle it!” Akane grinned.
“No offense to you three, but there is strength in numbers.” Kyoko responded, to which Sakura and Peko nodded in agreement. “But there are less places to hide dangerous traps In a boutique, So I think we should be okay to check that out.”
“And then we get the boys to go with us to the spa?” Peko asked for clarification.
“Yes. I think that would be wise.”
So with the group in agreement (except for Toko, who immediately went back to her room), the girls and enby headed to the boutique to investigate.
After some time looking around for clues or traps, they were shocked to find it was literally just a normal clothing store… or so It seemed.
“That’s strange.” Kyoko said, surprised as she inspected a piece of clothing.
“What? Did you find something?” Chiaki asked, yawning as she approached the detective.
“It’s… just clothes.”
“You mean, These are actually safe?” Sayaka asked curiously, poking her head around the corner to look at the two girls.
“It appears so… I’d still check before you try anything on but--”
She was already back around the corner with Ibuki. “Oh my gosh, Ibuki! With some leggings this would look so cute on you!”
Sonia giggled. “I agree!”
Ibuki looked at the frilly mini dress held up against her body in pure disgust. “Eugh! Ibuki doesn’t do this style anymore, It makes Ibuki feel restricted.”
“Okay, maybe not this dress then…” Sayaka put it back and looked around for another one. “We should match for our concert though.”
While the three looked through the costume dresses, Chihiro was on the other side of the store looking at all the cute casual dresses. They felt a little self conscious looking at them.
“Hi, Chihiro.” Mahiru greeted, approaching the small programmer with her girlfriend in tow. “Are you alright?”
Chihiro jumped in surprise, immediately letting go of the dress they were looking at. “O-Oh! Hi Mahiru… Hiyoko.” They greeted the two girls shyly.
“Sorry, didn’t mean to scare you!” Mahiru apologized with a small smile. “I was just coming over to look for a new sun dress.”
Chihiro nodded, absentmindedly going back to looking at the dress they found as Mahiru began shuffling the articles of clothing on the rack.
The red head stole a few glances over at Chihiro, noticing their hesitancy. “Are you okay?”
Hiyoko tilted her head curiously as she too looked up from the dresses.
“Y-Yeah, I’m fine! S-Sorry… am I distracting you?”
The two ultimates exchanged glances before looking back at the small enby. “Of course not… I’m just concerned about you.”
“O-Oh… there’s no reason to be concerned, I’m okay… really.” Chihiro put on the best smile they could, but Mahiru, who constantly photographed smiling people, immediately knew it was forced.
Hiyoko’s eyes scanned the clothing rack in front of Chihiro until she noticed a disturbed article of clothing, she walked over and plucked it from the rack. “This Is a cute dress.” She commented, drawing both Mahiru and Chihiro’s attention.
Hiyoko looked at the Programmer and smiled. “You should try It on.”
Mahiru had to do a double take, had someone replaced her fiery imp of a girlfriend with someone sweet???
Chihiro blushed brightly. “Um… I-I could never pull that off…”
“Sure you could.” Mahiru smiled, following Hiyoko’s lead.
“I-I don’t know…”
“Chihiro!” Sonia bounced over brightly. “You would look adorable in that!”
“Maybe If we found a sweater to go with it you’d feel better.” Chiaki smiled.
“Ooh! And some accessories!” Sayaka joined in.
Chihiro had a bad feeling about this…
“R-Really girls, I-Its okay! I was heading over to look at skirts anyways!” They tried backing away, but the girls weren’t letting them off the hook that easily.
Meanwhile, Hina found the swimsuits much to her excitement. They were pretty cute too! Some of them were plain, others had skirts to them, pretty patterns, bikinis, one pieces… you name it, they had it.
Hina picked up a red tropical flower patterned bikini with a skirt. “Check this out Sakura, It’s so cute! And It’s my size!” she squealed happily.
The martial artist stopped what she was doing and looked over at her best friend with an amused smile. “It looks nice.”
After another moment of searching she produced a similar bikini and showed It to Sakura again.
“That kind of looks like the last one.”
“Mhm! Except It’s white with red and pink flowers! What do you think?”
“It’s… pretty?”
“Good, Because It’s your size.” Hina grinned impishly.
Sakura paused. “Hina… I don’t do bikinis.”
“Why not?”
Sakura immediately got flashbacks. She recalled when she had first started gaining muscle and went to the beach with her friends, she had gotten stared at and made fun of. She was made so uncomfortable that she just went home.
“...Reasons.”
Hina pouted. She knew that was code for something serious. “Fine, I don’t want you to be uncomfortable… I’ll keep looking.”
“Thank you for respecting my--”
They were interrupted by Chihiro shrieking, they looked at each other in alarm and bolted in the direction of the sound. Upon rounding the corner they found Chihiro wrapped up in Sayaka’s arms while Chiaki and Mahiru tickled them.
Sakura sighed in relief upon seeing it was just something harmless.
Hina grinned. “You good Chihiro?” She couldn’t help but tease them.
“Hehehehelp mehehe!” They squealed as Chiaki squeezed their sides.
“Why are you all ganging up on Chihiro?” Sakura asked, feeling some pity for the smol programming bean.
“Why not?” Hina retorted. “Chihiro’s too cute not to tickle!”
“Hinahaha you’re not hehehelping!” They blushed even more.
“Oh sorry~ I’ll help you now.” Hina smiled innocently, approaching the trapped enby. The swimmer fluttered her fingers against their belly, drawing even more squeals of laughter. “There, do you feel helped now?” she giggled.
“Hahahahahaha! That’s nohohohot whahahat I meheheheant!” They whined.
“Chihiro started crying because they did not feel they could pull off this dress.” Sonia explained gently, holding the dress up. “So the others are trying to cheer them up.”
Sakura frowned. She understood where Chihiro was coming from, but literally Chihiro would look so fucking cute in that dress. It was a white ruffle sundress with a light yellow ribbon sash.
It was bewildering that Chihiro didn’t think they could pull it off…
Sakura scanned around until her eyes fell on a light yellow sweater with short sleeves, she picked it up and walked back over to the giggling programmer.
The girls stopped tickling and looked at the piece of clothing in the tall girl's hands. Chihiro slid to the floor in a heap of lingering giggles and soft gasps.
The white haired girl sat down next to them. “Chihiro, I understand how you feel. You feel like everyone Is going to be staring at you and judging you.”
They nodded meekly, staring at the floor.
“And maybe people have done that to you before…” She paused as Chihiro nodded again. “But you’re among your friends here, and we aren’t judging you In the slightest.”
“Yeah, Sakura’s right.” Chiaki agreed, sitting down too. The other girls followed suit. “We would never judge you.”
“We all have things we are self conscious about, Chihiro.” Sonia smiled kindly at the enby. “I am self conscious about my skin.”
“R-Really…? But you’re so pretty…” Chihiro looked at her.
“Thank you, but so are you.” Sonia pinched Chihiro’s cheek gently. “I burn in the sunlight, The kids I went to school with used to call me ‘Princess lobster’. So I try to avoid exposing myself to the sun.”
Chihiro blushed at the compliment and looked back down.
“I’m super self conscious about my weight.” Hina spoke up next. “I’m always weighing myself. I used to get teased for how many sweets I eat, my friends told me I was going to end up alone because no one would be able to look at me.”
“Hina, You’re gorgeous. You don’t have to worry about your weight!” Chihiro frowned.
“I used to get made fun of because I had braces when I was younger.” Sayaka shared. “They said I’d never be a singer because the metal in my braces would mess with the recording equipment.”
“Do I even need to say what I’m self conscious about?” Hiyoko sulked, folding her arms across her chest. “I’m short.”
Mahiru put her hand on Hiyoko’s shoulder. “You’ll hit a growth spurt someday.” She teased. “People called me a boy growing up.”
“I-I-I’ve al-always been s-s-s-super c-c-clumsy. People h-h-have always ma-made fun o-of me for It.” Mikan said softly.
“Of course they have, You’re a walking pile of pig barf!” Hiyoko snapped.
“Aah! I’m sorry!” Mikan cried.
Mahiru shoved her hand over Hiyoko’s mouth and pulled her into her lap to keep her contained. She sighed. Welp, so much for her being kind…
“People I went to school with used to accuse me of stuffing my bra, and constantly harassed me because of my home life.” Akane said quietly.
“I was feared, I was told I had monster eyes. Most kids avoided me.” Peko chimed In.
Kyoko looked down at her gloved hands then back up at Chihiro. “I think my insecurity should be obvious…”
“I got made fun of for loving video games. And I’ve got some pudge.” Chiaki poked her stomach.
After a moment of silence the girls looked at Sakura, who gave a hesitant sigh. “Do I need to say It?”
“Yes.” All except for Chihiro said in unison.
Sakura sighed again. “I get called ogre. People call me a freak or abomination. When I started bulking up, people told me that I looked better before and I lost a lot of friends because they were embarrassed to be seen with me.”
“Remind me to smack Hiro and Hifumi when I see them next.” Hina said quietly.
“Hiro doesn’t mean any harm by It.” she waved her off.
Hearing their friends being open about their insecurities made them feel a little better about opening up.
“Um…” Chihiro kept staring at the floor. “Kids I went to school with knew me when I Identified as a boy… and the first day I went to school in a dress, I got beat up and made fun of. Since then, I’ve been afraid to wear dresses… N-Not that skirts are much different… I’m just kind of traumatized by them.”
“Chihiro, You are adorable and beautiful.” Hina smiled warmly.
“Trust me, If anyone comes near you to beat you up or make fun of you… they’ll have a lot of people to get through first.” Chiaki added.
“You are one of a kind, don’t let people like that ruin something for you.” Sakura said gently.
Hina side eyed her, receiving a quiet; ‘shut up’ In response.
Chihiro sniffled, wiping their eyes. “Th-Thanks guys…”
“If you don’t want to try on the dress, We respect your comfort zone. You don’t have to if you don’t want to.” Mahiru put a hand on their shoulder reassuringly.
They looked at the dress In Sonia’s lap, then back up at the girls. “No… I… I want to try It on.”
“Are you sure?” Sonia asked.
They nodded, more sure this time. “You’re right. I need to learn not to take things to heart so much. Everyone has something they don’t like about themselves, even the people who picked on you.”
“That’s exactly right.” Kyoko nodded with a faint smile.
Chihiro took the dress from Sonia and stood up, they were about to head to the dressing room but they were stopped by Sakura, who handed them the matching sweater she found for the dress.
The enby gave her a smile before taking the article of clothing and retreating to the closed room with a new pep in their step.
A few minutes passed by, and something had occurred to Mahiru. “Wait a minute, Ibuki? You never said what you were made fun of for.”
Ibuki looked up at the red head, previously she had been drawing shapes on the floor with her finger waiting for Chihiro to come out. “Oh, Ibuki didn’t?”
“No, You didn’t.” Chiaki confirmed, eyeing the musician.
“Welllll…” Ibuki looked away sheepishly.
“Were you not bullied?” Sonia asked.
“N-No. Ibuki was bullied.” She sighed. “Ibuki was made fun of for the way she talks In the third person. Also the way she dressed.”
“I think It’s… endearing.” Sayaka smiled.
“Ibuki didn’t mention It because Ibuki didn’t want to be reassured or complimented.” She smiled shyly, tapping her index fingers together. “Ibuki doesn’t know how to take compliments…”
“I understand that.” Sakura responded.
Hina, again, side eyed her best friend. “I will hype you up and there’s nothing you can do to stop me.”
“Nothing huh?” She didn’t even bother looking at Hina, she blindly squeezed at the swimmer’s side, making her squeak and giggle as she twitched away.
“Come to think of it…” Kyoko hummed, glancing over at Celeste. “You didn’t say anything either.”
“That Is because there Is nothing I was made fun of for.” Celeste smiled, closing her eyes as she did.
Hmm… doubtful.
Chiaki looked at the wall clock. “Chihiro’s been In there a while… I think someone should go check on them.”
Before anyone else could volunteer, surprisingly, Hiyoko was on her feet. “I’ll do it.” with that she disappeared into the back room as well.
Mahiru blinked in surprise. “Should I go with her?”
No one got the chance to answer before Hiyoko came back out, Chihiro In tow.
The Traditional dancer stepped aside so the girls could see Chihiro, they were absolutely radiating happiness. “S-Sorry, I kind of froze up… How do I look?”
“Ohmigosh, Chi you look so cute!!” Hina squealed.
“That dress looks like It was made for you, You look so pretty!” Sonia beamed, stars practically in her eyes.
The Programmer giggled and twirled around in the dress happily.
The other girls quickly got over their surprise and flooded Chihiro with compliments. (even Kyoko and Celeste complimented them, shockingly.)
The rest of the boutique visit hit different for the group, they felt a lot lighter and closer than before.
Sayaka and Ibuki had decided to just coordinate colors, that way they could both wear something they wanted to wear.
Hina and Sakura found a few swimsuits they liked.
Chihiro got a bunch of different dresses and had a mini fashion show with Hiyoko, Mahiru, and Chiaki.
Right then.
Time to go find the boys and check out the spa...

just wanna ask now (since it's confirmed the anime isn't canon on this blog i think?) how did your class fall into despair?
Tumblr media
“Ah, that’s...a long and complicated story. It starts with the Tragedy of Hope’s Peak Academy. When the Student Council was murdered by Izuru Kamukura, Hope’s Peak tried to cover it up. Even though Ultimate Students died there-- people we knew. My classmates weren’t happy about that. No one in the school was. It kind of...disillusioned us all to Hope’s Peak. They didn’t care about us as much as we thought they did. They weren’t as upstanding as they said they were. But it got worse when the Reserve Course turned against us, and we had to barricade ourselves in the school. I still remember it...Having to block off the windows and doors, hearing the screams and shouting from outside. Knowing that people out there wanted to catch us and rip us apart. It was pretty terrifying, ahaha. I think it would be enough to make a normal talentless person with weak hope turn to despair. But we stayed strong for a little while, hidden in our classroom. All 14 of us. We had to keep the lights off, and we barely had any food. It was a risk to even run down to the storage rooms and get some. We stayed like that, in the dark and alone, for a few...days, I think. Maybe a week? And the more we stayed, the more we could hear the screams and shouting from outside, and then from inside the school too. We started to believe that Hope’s Peak wasn’t going to bother to save us. That it was being taken over, and we were being abandoned to the mob. We didn’t even have our teacher. When the food started running really low is when my classmates started to talk about how they could get out. They started off talking about escape plans, but nobody knew enough about what was going on outside--or even inside-- to make one. I think it was Mikan who first brought up the idea of joining Despair. She had talked with Junko at Hope’s Peak. Maybe she was her agent the entire time. I immediately said no, but my classmates like the idea. Hope’s Peak wasn’t going to save us, so why not join the people tearing it down, if that would get us out of there? If you can’t beat them, join them. The only way we could be safe from Despair was if we joined it ourselves. I tried to convince them not to, but they turned pretty quickly. They hated Hope’s Peak for leaving them to rot, for not being able to save them, even though it was Hope’s Peak’s own fault that this was happening. They wanted to bring down the school, and they wanted to survive, and joining Despair would do both. I argued with them. I told them that they should die for the sake of hope instead, but they had no interest in becoming martyrs. They joined Despair to survive, and out of vengeance against Hope’s Peak and the world around it. A lot of them were already angry and bitter and traumatized enough already. Especially after Natsumi’s murder. Fuyuhiko was furious with Hope’s Peak for not catching her murderer. Mahiru was despairing about her friend being killed. Mikan, Ibuki, Hiyoko-- they were all involved with it. It affected them too. All of them had something horrible happening to them, at home, or at school, or just...in general. The despair crept in over time and strangled them. No matter what I said to them, they were decided. They wanted revenge on Hope’s Peak and the world that had hurt them so much, then left them to die. They joined Despair, and they left me alone, stranded at the empty shell of what used to be Hope’s Peak Academy. The next time I saw them, they were all established and devoted Remnants of Despair.”

50 and 62 for the ask thing?
50. What made you laugh the hardest you ever had?
There's a lot of instances that made me laugh hard so I'm gonna go with the most recent one, which actually happened a couple of hours ago. I asked my sister to crack my back by stepping on it as I laid on the ground (reverse corpse pose), and it cracked so much I started laughing. I then told her "bro, I'm not sure I can get up" and started laughing even harder for some reason. I don't know why my back cracking like a dying fire was hilarious; it just...was. I laughed so much my stomach started hurting, and I laid on the floor for another five minutes humoring myself over the fact that I was scared to even attempt to stand up.
62. Seven characters you relate to?
(There's gonna be some Bungou Stray Dogs and Nanbaka spoilers ahead if you aren't up to date with the manga! Consider yourself warned!)
-------
7. Kuro from Servamp. Lazy boi who's a pacifist and loves video games? I know that all too well, my friend. Once he has the drive to do something, he will commit to it. This motivation comes in the form of Mahiru, who is nearly his polar opposite. Kuro wants to be done with the violence; he and Mahiru believe that now is the time to talk things out. He regrets his past actions, and wants to make amends. (It's more apparent when he repairs ties with Lawless, anyhow.)
6. Kunikida Doppo from Bungou Stray Dogs. I go into more detail in #5, but I relate to Kunikida because he's an idealistic man. He doesn't want to see people die in front of him, because he believes that he can save them. He has such a strong spirit and gives off mom vibes. (He honestly needs a break, though.) Despite being intimidating at first, he's actually really gullible (Dazai exploits this) and is scared of ghosts.
5. Heroic Spirit EMIYA from the Fate Series. I already kinda touched on it in another ask thing, but Emiya highly values his ideals. When they end up betraying him, he falls into despair and resolves to kill his younger self so that he wouldn't make the same mistakes. Unlimited Blade Works really hit home for me because I'm an idealistic person, and he showed me that it's unhealthy to base your entire life around your ideals, if that makes sense. I guess what I'm trying to say is that ideals shouldn't be the only thing that keeps you going.
4. Tachihara Michizou from Bungou Stray Dogs. He wants revenge on Yosano because of his older brother's death, even though he had grown up in his brother's shadow. His parents were disappointed in him when he didn't do what his brother did, which caused him to get into gangs and stealing. Despite this, he loved his brother very much and wanted to avenge him; in the end, though, he just...couldn't kill Yosano. He simply had lost his way in life. The sibling love and comparison between siblings (unintentional on my parent's part) is something I know all-too well, although I haven't broken the law before. If one of my siblings died, I'd be devastated too. Since I understand why he did what he did (even though I don't approve of some things), I get a little annoyed when people were outright bashing Tachihara for stabbing Gin and Hirotsu. It kinda reminds me of how after the Sanders Sides video Putting Ourselves First came out, people were bashing Roman for his actions without understanding the why. In detective terms, they were too busy looking at the whodunit for the self care issue instead of focusing on the whydunit.
3. Remus from the Web Series Sanders Sides! I know some people get triggered by Intrusive Thoughts, but personally mine are pretty harmless and funny to think about. Remus is this chaotic ball of energy who is just a bit on the childish side. Chaos is my (Crofters) jam, and I always have excess energy despite feeling tired 24/7. (...That didn't make sense, but just roll with it for now!)
2. Musashi from Nanbaka. It was only the most recent chapter (181, I think, or was it 182?) where Jyugo finally understood him, which broke my heart since these two were hurt so much in their pasts. Musashi was framed for something he never did, and his parents were killed by Elf just so that he and the Man With the Scar could acquire Musashi to study his spontaneous combustion. Musashi's life was ripped away from him, he was framed for killing his family, he was experimented on, he was called a monster, and he just...let them. He couldn't justify himself; no one would believe him. (Well, until Kenshirou came along.) Once he told Kenshirou his story, he was genuinely shocked to see Kenshirou trust his word. ...I know what it feels like to not be listened to, and to have people you thought you could trust turn your back on you. You just...give up, after a while. It's damaging to someone's self-esteem, and they start to lose hope that their voice, their pain will reach somebody's ears. Being misunderstood and made the bad guy is such a shitty situation to find yourself in, and I'm glad that Jyugo is now another person who sees Musashi as more than just someone who tried to kill him in the past. As Jyugo said, Musashi didn't even have the intention to kill him from the start. Plus, Musashi is a bean! He just? Loves reading?? Dude same! And he loves learning new things??? Bro me too!! And he has a (seemingly ridiculous but totally valid) fear? HahA ME TOO!!! 10/10 would like to converse about languages with him because I find them fascinating too!
1. Mikoshiba from Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun. I know I put this in the #1 spot, but there are fewer things for me to relate to with him. Mikoshiba is, for all intents and purposes, a whole mood. He's an introverted otaku who just can't talk to girls normally for the life of him, flirts and gets super embarrassed about it, and is probably one of the most sane people in the anime and manga. He has anxiety (seen when he was asked to go to a mixer), which isn't really detrimental to him but certainly holds him back, and he is easily swayed to do what his friends want him to do (...with the right bribes, of course). 10/10 give this boi the love he deserves!

Junko: Good Lord, why’d I choose these idiots? Nagito: Your guess is as good as mine.
(Mod: Junko would just flip and try to rip out her hair while Mukuro just asks her what she was expecting when choosing the friends of the Ultimate Animator, since they just had to be the biggest dorks ever, while in the meantime Izuru just silently leaves since he had enough if this show)

Guren smiled when he heard Mahiru’s voice, she was right in the room with him. As he turned he let go of just one more person that had been in that way of what was going to happen tonight. He didn’t even care that he had blood on his lips, he was just ..... glad she would be here in the end. She probably couldn’t hear him from where he was, but he spoke anyway, “Mahiru. My sweet Mahiru. You came after all.”
Tears were in her eyes, as she took in his appearance, hands on the hilt of her katana. Shinya was right next to her....comforting her. “Yes Guren, I did. Let us save you. You know we all care about you. We need you.”
Guren laughed a little at that. As he watched the distance close so that they could hear him now. “You can’t save me. I asked you time and again Mahiru to join me, but time is up. Sadly there is no more time to mess around with anymore.”
“Master Gur-” Sayuri started, but Mahiru cut her off.
     “We can.”
“You can’t! But I am glad you came,” he said with a smile that always made Mahiru’s heart flutter.
    “I said I would!”
She was right next to Guren than. He saw it like it was in slow motion. Every attack they made. It was so easy now that he was a vampire to dodge everything. He even knew the Fuda spells wouldn’t hurt him somehow, so he didn’t waste energy moving and didn’t feel anything when they went off. He could tell they were trying their best, and if he was his old self, he would be almost on par with Mahiru, maybe a little slower. But now he didn’t even have to fight.
“Sorry Mahiru,” he said softly. In the next second he grabbed her arm, and tossed her into the others. Smelling blood told him he had done his job at, at least pacifying them for now. Maybe now they would hear reason, and stop trying to fight him. But knowing all of them, they wouldn’t. His old bodyguards wanted to get him back, Shinya and the other two he figured were following Mahiru to save the world or for some other reason.
But Mahiru.....she was here due to him. He wanted her here. He could tell she loved him still, just like when they were little. At school she came to see him when he was hurt, even though he knew it would heal soon enough. She was the whole reason he had undergone this entire madness.
He wanted to give her, her wish.
He started to laugh at little. Watching all the mighty saviors on the ground, unable to even lay a hand on him. It was sad really. In the end, he was just as screwed as the day he was born.
“What the hell is so funny, you crazed Ichinose?” Shinya asked, finally able to get up, blood going down his mouth.
“Shinya!” Mahiru said worried. She moved to clean his mouth, but stopped when a deep growl came from behind her.
“Are you jealous Guren?” Shinya asked, in a mocking tone.
Guren paid Shinya no mind. He had his eyes locked on Mahiru’s. “How long are you going to stick around these people? One is a stud horse we both know you don’t want, two are from a sect the Hiragis would rather see squashed, and the other two...just hanging onto due to your name. They don’t know you like I do. So why?”
So many emotions were filling the air of the room. Sayuri and Shigure seemed as if Guren had slashed them open and said that they were better off dead. Mito, who was still laying injured on the floor, was giving Guren a glare that made it seem her red hair was fire that would burn him if he got to close. Goshi was shaking his head and silently saying, not cool man.
The worst reaction out of Guren’s friends, was Shinya. He was standing there torn between crying and wanting to run over and punching Guren. They seemed to always have a connection for some reason, even now Guren could tell that his words had stung him so deep that he wanted to hate him beyond words. He was even shaking, and it wasn’t from the built up tears. Even so, there was a part of Shinya deep down, that couldn’t hate Guren for some reason. And that was going to be his down fall.
Suddenly a voice broke the awful silence, “It is what you would have done.” Mahiru’s voice tore his crimson eyes away from the scene in front of him, to only focus on Mahiru. “I know you Guren, you need people. That is why you keep asking for me right. These are your friends too. They are worried about-”
Shinya cut off Mahiru with a chuckle. “He knows he has us beat, and yet he doen’t do anything, but talk about friends. Well I will tell you one thing Mahiru I don’t think he needs friends. All he cares about is power.”
Guren growled again, his demon coming to the front of his mind. Sure he had power, sure he had to get it. He had his reasons, and things had to happen. Shinya however wouldn’t understand, he just saw the Ichinose teen that went on adventures with him, trying to get ahead of the families, even though Guren was working for both sides.
Shinya walked closer. “I’m right, are’t I. You once told me you wanted to save your clan and someone you cared about. What happened to that?”
In an instant things could change. Guren had learned that when he was six. Shinya and the others were learning it now while Mahiru was screaming. One moment Shinya was just standing there, the next Guren jabbed his hand into Shinya’s chest, through ribs just to get to his heart. It would be so easy to rip it out, but instead Guren held back. He wanted Shinya to live a little longer. Which is why he was looking at Guren confused.
Tumblr media
“You don’t understand anything stud horse. My struggle has everything to do with them and Mahiru. If you and the others had just stayed out of the way, this would have ended differently.”
Shinya opened his mouth to try and answer but only blood came out. Guren only let the adopted Hiragi drop to the floor when he heard the lady of his heart crying his name over and over to stop and let Shinya go.
In that one moment no one did anything. The only noise besides the fans, was the blood dripping down Guren’s hand. He looked down at Shinya. There was a hurt and confused look on his face, the moment that he died. They would all wear that look soon. After all he had fought this to get to Mahiru, not to hurt her, but to......
But it was too late. The least he could do is remove the fake friends that she had. The people that only used her for her name. The ones that didn’t know her as, her. The sweet, loving girl that just wanted to be normal.
It only took on tick of the clock, not even enough time for Siyuri to call out for her Lord to stop. For anyone to say Guren’s name. Soon only bodies remained, all headless, apart from the one Guren had in a head lock right now. It was Shigure. One of his most trusted friends and bodyguards once. Now in his madness, he just saw her as someone that was a threat between him and Mahiru. Someone that wasn’t really a friend.
“Guren, no!” Mahiru finally got out.
“”If he wishes to kill me than so be it,” Shigure finally said. “Master Guren is-”
But what he was Mahiru would never know, Guren broke her neck, before fully taking her head off. Guren dropped her, as he did the others. Before walking over the bodies to come closer to Mahiru.
“There, no more fake friends. Just you and me. Like you wanted when we were kids.”
Mahiru at that point was crying, eyes fixed on everyone on the floor. She looked as if she was about to scream, as she pulled out Noya. Guren pushed her arm down and pulled her closer. “Hey, there is time for that later. Right now just know you are-”
“Gggg tttt, your arm off of her.”
Tumblr media
Guren growled as he saw that Shinya was still alive. Mahiru stabbed her cursed gear into the ground and ran to him. He pulled it out of the ground and held Noya, remembering when this was made, and when he gave it to Mahiru after they had a night together, ignoring Mahiru and Shinya talking. Mahiru was begging him not to die, Shinya was saying he was going to have to disappoint her yet again. But his last words caught Guren’s attention,
“You’re lucky he loves you so much. You know why I came along, I guess I will have to tell him in person, I’m sorry I failed. Do it.....for me. Just don’t cry.....or let the demon win okay Mahiru.”
Mahuri nodded, “Okay.” She kissed Shinya’s forehead. But the light had left his face and eyes by then. She shook him a few times and he just stared blankly at her, with his smile on his face, that got him through life.
“What was he talking about?” Guren asked darkly, Noya over his shoulder.
Mahiru stayed by Shinya, wiping her eyes. “He cared deeply for you. He said he wanted to save you since he made a promise to your father that he would. Now I have to do it, since I promised him.” When she got up and turned around she saw Guren holding Noya as if he was inspecting it.
“You can’t, not this time Mahiru. All you can do it this,” he said, handing her the hilt of the katana the housed Noya. She looked confused, but did as she was asked. “Noya thanks to you has drank a lot of blood from demons and humans, he is the last piece to the experiment that is happening tonight. Are you ready?”
“Ready for what Guren?” she asked, afraid of what else could happen.
Tumblr media
What happened was worse. Worse than Guren killing their friends, worse than what had been happening over the last few days, worse than anything she could think of. Guren ran himself through with the blade so deep that he came right to her and hugged her.
“Guren!” Mahiru screamed, as Guren’s knees buckled and she had to lower him to the floor. She moved to pull it out.
“Don’t. This needs to happen, I am bound to your demon now.”
“Why? Why are you doing this?”
“I said it before,” he said softly, when she moved to put his head in her lap, “to save you. This was meant to be you Mahiru. I took your place a long time ago. I found out you and your sister were born with demons, and I took them both.”
“The cursed gear you gave my sister?”
Guren slowly nodded his head, a few tears going down his face. “I wanted you and her to have a normal life, like you wanted.”
    “What about you?!”
Guren was turning translucent and even though he seemed solid to hold, it was clear something was wrong at the point of contact of the sword. There was black lines coming out like veins, as if the sword was feeding on him.
Tumblr media
“I won’t be here very soon. I am becoming one with your demon.” He closed his eyes for a moment, when he spoke with his eyes closed he sounded more like his normal self. “Mahiru this place is to conduct the Seraph of the End experiment. The world will only end if someone activates it.”
“What is it Guren? You never fully said.”
Guren opened his eyes, one red eye was already black. “It is stepping into a realm man should not go. It is the punishment to man when they bring someone back from the dead.”
“Guren you are not making any sense,” Mahiru pointed out.
“I don’t have much time. I left you enough information Mahiru, no one is watch us. Take your sister and go, you don’t have to do this. You are the only thing keeping the world from ending. The experiment was meant for today can be stopped thanks to you.” He took in a deep breath. Looking up at her, he smiled, and Mahiru knew it was Guren and not the demon in that one moment. “I do love you, and I will be with you.”
Mahiru started crying. She bent down and kissed Guren. “Please don’t go. I love you.”
But in that moment, she wasn’t holding him anymore, she was holding a katana sword, with a letter fluttering to the floor. Inside it was not Guren nor Noya, but a newborn demon, that had all the memories of Guren.
Outside Mahiru had made her choice, deciding that she was going to bring her and Guren’s friends back. As she strapped on her cursed gear she noticed the letter, gently opening she noticed Guren’s handwriting.
     My dear Mahiru,
By now I know that things have reached the end and I am going to die soon. I just wanted to sit down and write something while I still had a clear head.
I know what I am doing doesn’t seem fair to you, but it did save you from growing up just to die at sixteen. This was my way to save you like I promised when we were kids. I also wanted you to know that my choice was part of some Hiragi plan. So i would ask yourself, how do the Hiragis stay so powerful.
I would ask that you take care of my clan since I was the head and I had no heir at the time, and they had to use dad against me and I couldn’t come in they executed him for their own sick games. Since I was not fully sticking to their plans. I was at least grateful for the funeral, and that you came.
Guren didn’t sign it, but he did put a crimson lotus inside the letter.
Mahiru shook her head and called him her stupid prince.
When the world died at the hands of Mahiru Hiragi, the demon inside her blade awakened.

LawLicht Week Day 5:
“Hyde, I will be busy giving the angel in training some piano lessons, so make sure you don't bother us.”
“Sure thing angel-chan. I'll behave.”
The dark haired teen narrowed his eyes even more than normal, if possible, as if he didn't believe his partner for a second. But in the end, all he said was “You better.” and then walked away.
Of course, Hyde would try to behave, but there was no guarantee. He wasn't one to follow the rules. It was in his name after, Lawless, to be without law. So if he wanted to go interrupt Mahiru and Licht while they were playing the piano, then he would.
However, he didn't want to upset Licht. Perhaps he would go out there to check on them under the guise of being out there to get a drink. Yes, that could work.
Deciding to give them 10 minutes, before he barged out there, Hyde laid back on the bed, contemplating his plan of action. I can't continuously go out there for a drink, Licht will know what I'm doing. Maybe for a snack later, and while I'm out getting a snack, I can lay something down and go back out even later saying that I'm looking for it. Yeah, yeah that's good.
After the 10 minutes were up, the vampire stood and bounded out of the room, and headed toward the kitchen. The first thing he noticed when he walked through the main room to get to the kitchen, was how close the two males were sitting.
They were pressed shoulder to shoulder, as Licht pointed at things and explained what they were. And Hyde did not like it. He couldn't fault the teen on it though, so he just took a deep breathe, sighed it out, and went on to get his beverage.
As soon as he heard the footsteps getting further, Licht threw a glare over his shoulder. He wasn't sure what the hedgehog was up to, but knowing Hyde, it couldn't be anything good. The young pianist shook his head and turned his attention back to the brunet beside him.
“Okay, now, do I need to teach you what the bars mean?”
The immortal being spent a good long while in the kitchen, making his double espresso as slowly as possible, just to give himself an excuse to be shamelessly watching his lover through the doorway.
It was ridiculous that Hyde could get so upset over this. It's not like Mahiru was going to take Licht from him. Mahiru didn't even like Licht that much. And besides, Mahiru was dating his older Kuro. And the two seemed more than happy together. So this whole thing was just insane.
But he couldn't help it. He didn't like how close they were, or how Licht was giving the other boy his undivided attention. All because he was this ‘angel in training’. What if Hyde said he wanted Licht to teach him the piano? Would Licht act like this with him? Would he even agree to it?
Briefly, he considered storming out there and insisting that he wanted piano lessons too, and that Licht should teach them both at the same time. But that would only result in him getting yelled at and kicked around for interrupting.
Another loud sigh, escaped his lips as he grabbed his favorite drink, and headed back to his room. Completely unaware of the fact that his Eve had heard him sighing twice, and was starting to get irritated.
------------------------------------------------------------
After having finished his drink and waiting half an hour in his room on his phone, the blond decided that it was time to check in on them once more.
He quickly padded his way back out to the kitchen and made himself a ham and cheese sandwich, all the while keeping a keen eye on his lover's back. Dismissively, he placed his phone on the countertop, so he would have an excuse to come back out here later, as Licht never told him how long the two would be at it.
Once his sandwich was done, he walked over to the door frame to lean on it and eat his sandwich, what he saw, almost made him drop the food all together, plate and everything. instead he settled for nearly ripping his hair out with his free hand.
Licht was sitting behind the younger Eve, hands on top of his as he guided him through the motions of a beginner's song called “when the saints go marching in”. His chest was pressed to the other boy’s back! That was entirely too close! Was he TRYING to make him mad?!
No, no. Licht wouldn't do that. He takes his music very seriously. And he has never had many friends, so he probably just doesn't see a problem with this. Yeah, yeah that's all it is. He probably just told Mahiru there was an easier way to show him how to play and the darn simple loving kid probably agreed. Nothing bad is happening. I'm just overreacting.
The oldest male in the room, took another deep inhale of oxygen and released it in a long, grounding exhale. He then ate his sandwich in silence, watching the two teenagers like a hawk. He suddenly felt less like a boyfriend, and more like an overprotective father who would make excuses to check on his daughter whenever she had a boy over to study.
Shortly after this revelation, the sandwich was gone, and Hyde had wandered back to his room once more.
“Umm, Licht-san, is me being here bad? Lawless seems a bit on edge.”
“No, just ignore him. He's just being a brat. If we ignore him for long enough, he may just give up and stay in there.”
----------------------------------------------------------
I'm just being paranoid. There is no reason to be upset. But, I mean, how much worse could this get?! They're already pressed as closely together as two people can be! There is no way for this to go any further south. It's fine. I'm fine. Licht and I are fine.
The red eyed immortal took a few more calming breaths and gave the two other males a few minutes reprieve, before he stalked back out to grab his phone.
That, was it. He was going to explode! Rationality be damned! Licht was now, not only sitting with the boy pressed against his chest, but he was being way too nice to the kid now too!
“That's right. Good job angel in training, you only messed up 3 notes that time.” Spoke the tutor as he patted the boy on the head.
“Ah, thanks Licht-san. I couldn't do it without you though!” Said the student as he turned and gave the older boy a bright smile. To which, the teacher gave a very slight upturn of the lip back.
Arrgghh!!! That's it!!! I can't take it anymore! I have to say something!
Just as he was about to March over and give the two a piece of his mind, there was a soft, lazy knock on the door that the two in the main room didn't seem to hear. Giving an intentionally loud and aggravated sigh, the Servamp walked over and yanked the door open, only to be met with a black cat pushing his way inside. Once inside, he shut the door and changed back.
“I'm here to pick up Mahiru. I woke up to find I was home alone and saw a note that said he would be here with the violent angel.”
“Ah, nii-san. Thank goodness! You won't believe how out Eve’s are acting! It's shameful!”
Kuro tilted his head and lazily meandered his way into the main room, Lawless trailing after him.
The two Eve’s were still seated in the position that Hyde had found them in earlier. And while it infuriated him, his brother didn't seem to care at all. He just blinked. As if this didn't matter!
“See?! Look at them! They're dating us and yet they look like they're dating each other right now!”
“So? Just cuz they're sitting like that, doesn't mean anything is going on. Mahiru is too innocent for that. They're just friends Hyde. Besides,” He said as a loving smile took its place on his lips. “I trust him. And I know he would never betray me.”
“You really have that much faith in him? You trust him that much? You don't think, for even a second, that he won't turn around marry someone else all of a sudden for some stupid reason?!”
“I do. With my life. And no, he would never do that to me. Mahiru’s not that kind of guy. And Licht's not either. If he didn't want to be with you, he would tell you upfront. So relax a bit. Hey, Mahiru.”
Upon hearing the bored drawl of his boyfriend, Mahiru's head spun around and a huge sunny smile shot across his face.
“Kuro! You came to get me!” Exclaimed the brunet, as he shot up and raced over to throw himself into the bluenette’s arms.
“Yeah, I woke up alone and without breakfast. And we're out of instant ramen. So I had to come get you so you could feed me.”
“Ugh! Kuro!” He gave the Servamp a light punch in the shoulder, causing a lazy smirk to appear on the taller male’s face.
“I’ve gotta go now Licht-san, but thank you so much for today. I had a lot of fun, and I really learned a lot. Bye!”
And with that the Sloth pair left, a black cat on the brunet’s shoulder, nuzzling against his neck. As soon as the door shut, all hell broke loose.
“What the hell was that?!”
“What the hell are you talking about?”
“You two were all over each other! And he said he had ‘fun’ and he ‘learned a lot’ what exactly was happening out here?!”
The dark haired male stood, faced his boyfriend, and crossed his arms.
“Hmph, you should know shit rat, you've been out here plenty, and you have eyes. You should be able to tell. What was the excuse this time?”
“W-what?”
“The bathroom? Or were you just winging it? Decided you’d come out here without an excuse, huh?”
“I-I left my phone in the kitchen while I was making my sandwich…”
The boy scoffed. “Intentionally, I bet.”
He couldn’t come up with a rebuttal, he had him there.
“Look shit rat, you can either cut the crap and just tell me what's going on with you, or we can drop this whole charade all together and you will get no answer.”
The vampire bit his lip. He usually didn't mind whenever Licht won one of their spats, but this time it really bothered him how easily the boy had cornered him and turned this whole thing around on him.
“Fine! I'm jealous okay?! You're my boyfriend and yet you were all close and touchy and nice to my brother's Eve!” For some unknown reason, Licht smirked.
“Oh? I thought you liked a challenge rat. You've never complained before about me not being nice to you. And you say you're upset that I was spending all that time being close to Mahiru, and yet you're not even the Servamp of Envy. You are Greed.”
“Sh-shut up! It's just, it makes me think that, sometimes, you actually don't like me. And I'm entitled to feel jealous! It's part of being greedy! I see something and I want it! And I wanted you attention! So there!”
Suddenly, Licht lowered his arms, his face carrying a serious look, smirk gone, and walked toward Hyde. The blond thought that perhaps he had struck a nerve and they were going to actually fight. But instead, the teen reached out and yanked on his tie. Pulling him forward and smashing their lips together.
His first reaction was to blink owlishly, as he wasn't entirely sure what was happening or what to do. But shortly after, he melted, allowing himself to hum in enjoyment. Not even a second later, the angel pulled back, smirk instantly returning. Hyde blushed.
“I know Hyde. I knew the whole time that you were jealous, it was a bit unwarranted, but you are entitled to feel whatever you want. I just wanted you to admit to it and realize that it's not a bad thing to fess up to it. Now, do you still think I hate you even though I'm dating you? Or are you done being stupid?”
“N-no, not really. You wouldn't have kissed me like that if you hated me. W-wait a minute! You knew?! So you WERE doing all that on purpose! That's so mean Lich-tan! I can't believe you!” He whined.
Licht rolled his eyes, stuffing his hands in his pockets, clearly done with this whole conversation. Honestly, it was a miracle he hadn't kicked him yet. “Stupid rat, don't accuse an angel of something so evil.”
“But you're not denying it! Lich-tannnnn. How could you! And I was so good too! I didn't interrupt you once. Don't I get some kind of reward?” The pianist turned away, walking off to the bedroom, scoffing as he did so.
“Yeah right, if that's what you call good, then it's no wonder you're a demon. You were practically breathing down our necks the whole time. Checking in like an overprotective father. Or, an incredibly jealous boyfriend.”
For a second, Hyde could have sworn that was mirth he heard in the teen’s voice. Rushing after him, he called him out on it.
“You're enjoying this aren't you? Are you sure you're not the demon in this relationship angel-chan? You are so mean!”
As soon as he finished his sentence, the teen stopped dead in his tracks and turned a fire filled glare on his blond lover.
“How dare you. And after I kissed you like that to make you feel better. You can consider that kiss your compensation for being jealous all afternoon, because I'm an angel, I am nice, and don't forget it shit rat.”
“Right. You're right. You're an angel. Wait. Does that mean anytime I'm jealous I get a kiss like that? If I say I'm still jealous, do I get another one?”
Smirk sliding onto his feature, quickly replacing his upset and shaken look. Licht gave a small groan and shook his head, continuing on to their bedroom, followed closely by Hyde.
“You're deplorable. Go to bed Hyde.”
“No way angel cakes! That was really hot earlier! The way you kissed me like that. I want another! You aren't going to leave your poor, adorable pet hedgehog so distraught, are you?”
“Distraught my ass! You're fine!”
“Nooooo!!! I'm super depressed Lich-tan! You have to kiss me better!”
“Get off right now or else rat!”
The blond laughed, Licht was clearly in a good mood today, so that meant that, despite his threat, Hyde could get away with his actions. So the vampire's response was to throw his arms and legs around the teen, snuggling closer to him on their bed, causing the angel to blush profusely.
“Nevermind angel-chan. This will do just fine. I don't need that second kiss after all, since it embarrasses you so much.” He exclaimed as he nuzzled the boy’s cheek with his own. “You're such an ass...” Muttered the teen.
“Maybe, but I'm your ass!” Chirped the blond.
“Yes, you are. And I love you, despite how much you piss me off rat.”
“Aww, angel baby! I love you too!”
The two laid silently, which was a miracle for the ever loud Servamp of Greed. But eventually, the energetic blond let out a yawn, slowly losing himself to slumber and inadvertently loosening his hold. Licht chose this opportunity to slip an arm out and wrap it around the other male, pulling him to his chest. Instantly shocking the immortal out of his sleepy state.
“Lich-ta-” He started, in his normally loud voice, only being stopped by the raven placing his hand over his mouth and shushing him.
"Speak low, if you speak love."
The blonds eyes widened for a second, but sluggishly closed them as a smile spread across his face and Licht removed his hand.
“Sorry I got so jealous Lich-tan.” He whispered
“It's okay shit rat.”
“No, it's not, it made it was unfair to you.”
“It's know you've got some trust issues from your past, I don't mind. Now go to sleep. Really. It's fine.”
There was a beat of silence as they both closed their eyes.
“Promise?”
“Promise.”
The smile on the Servamp’s face widened, as a small one formed on his Eve’s face to match him. “Goodnight Lich-tan, sleep well.” He muttered.
“Goodnight Hyde.” He got softly whispered back. And then all was silent, as the two slipped into a peaceful and happy slumber.
THE END

While looking for caps I need in “So That We Won’t Become Lonely” and crying my eyes out I came across this little panel that I never paid much mind to before, but now I really like it!
Tumblr media
Specifically, I really like that Mikuni is included here where you wouldn't expect him like you've got Misono and Licht, whom Mahiru knows really well. You've got Tsurugi, Jun, and Yumi, which makes sense considering this chapter about the developing relationship between Mahiru and Tsurugi. But notably, Tetsu is missing. Why would he be excluded, but Mikuni (who looks so adorably dour) included? In my opinion, the characters included in this shot are characters who never got to be "children" properly, a connecting theme between Mahiru, Tsurugi, and Touma all throughout this arc.
Mahiru was touched by tragedy at such a young age. Misono was always so sick, and he, too, experienced death very young, so he never really made friends or had the “normal” experience of being a kid.
Jun, Yumi, and Tsurugi, well... Self explanatory. Yumi is from a powerful family, and would have been expected since he was young to inherit responsibilities related to that. Tsurugi has been abused since he was a little baby. Jun was... Normal. And yet, he was always doing his best to take care of them, even if he didn't really understand that that wasn't his job. Not exactly healthy for like. A ten year old.
Licht is a music prodigy, and it's implied he never really had anyone he could genuinely call a "friend" before meeting Lawless.
And Mikuni... Is another child who didn't really "Grow up." When he was eight he began to despise his father for the betrayal done to his mother. When he was fifteen his childhood was further ripped from him due to becoming a murderer and fleeing home, all for Misono’s sake. He has never been a normal kid. Frankly, the whole set up the Alicein have forbids any notion of ever being normal, because from birth Mikuni would have been taught and groomed to become an Eve. To inherit All of Love, as per the promise his ancestor made to love the Servamp of Lust for all eternity, for as long as their bloodline remained. All of this is to explain why... Tetsu isn’t here, despite being someone you would have thought would come to mind when Mahiru thinks of friendship with the human cast. He's getting smacked with the trauma stick NOW, but, his childhood? Blessedly normal.

SR 1x9: On the Night of the Star Festival
[edits added after liveblog]
Aww Kaoruko is helping out with costumes since she didn't make the goddess cast. Look at her being a good sport! ^_^
I like how Claudine gets some time with different folks.
"Life is as tedious as a twice-told tale." How about as tedious as a 60x told tale? Yes, still salty. I'll try to let it go. XD
Oh. It's actually getting addressed in script.
Haha by Maya! Of course. ;)
Ooooh! Drama's a-brewing with that walk-away! People are noticing there's something wrong with "everyone's banana".
Oh, Hikari's barettes are huuuuge.
OMG who is she talking to?? I thought she was talking to the set, which fine - that's cool. Then something TALKED BACK!! A little less normal! D:
"It's only been two months, but it's felt much longer." I can't help it, guys. You know what I'm gonna say.
:-O Oh. My. GOSH! She's getting that crazy gleam. All of this build-up - I thought she was going to recognize that she needs to let go. Instead she's gonna double down, whaaaaat. The harder you hold on, the more it hurts when it's ripped from your hands. Literal truth.
Wow this story sounds VERY familiar lol Claire is Hikari
Fury - Junna [she got so mad at Karen that she fainted?]
Evasion -Kaoruko [...She wanted to evade hard work and have Futaba hand her stuff and then she wanted to run away?]
Arrogance - Karen [...she barged in where she wasn't invited* and thinks that she can change the rules to have 2 winners?]
Enchantment - Futaba [She was enchanted by Kaoruko and followed her till the end?]
Jealousy - Mahiru [this one was pretty obvious in her creepy episode with all the sniffing]
Despair - Nana [this one was explicit in this episode]
Ohhhh - that's where they got their Audition weapons?
Wow. That was tragic.
"Despite the danger, Flora had the courage to try to make a miracle happen for her best friend." [Despite the danger, Karen had the courage to insert herself into battles that she was not prepared for and wasn't invited to in order that she miraculously make it onto the leaderboard and become Top Star on the Stage of Fate for her best friend.]
"And despite losing her memory, Claire had the strength to recall the promise she'd made to her best friend." [Despite losing her shine and motivation, Hikari had more fuel than even the Giraffe could anticipate which allowed her to suddenly remember her promise to her best friend.]
"It's old! And bulky! And depressing!" lol Karen would be excited about that.
FINED! (that will never come to be. Sigh bc the Giraffe doesn't actually fine people)
You're my Junna-chan. You were never called "Jun-Jun". I will not let you be called that (and I will take down whoever tries to get in my way!) Yandere much?
That's right, Jun-Jun. Be scared. Be VERY SCARED.
Revue of Bonds
She's out for blood.
The song is good. Very dramatic.
You hate Starlight...yet you want to repeat it forever. Say it with me now: "I am crazy."
Know that I am refraining from making very mean comments, agreeing with Banana-chan right now.
I am digging Junna pulling out all these quotes!! I love quotes. +1 to Junna
Awww this is a nice moment. Good job, Junna-chan. You are a very good friend. +1 to Junna
Oh my. I was not expecting a close up of the giraffe butt. XP
[OK, the parallels between Starlight and Starlight Revue are a nice touch. Good story-telling. Little unnerving with the yanderes going around, but I guess it's all part of the genre.
*So Nana said that it was always 8 people in the Auditions and Karen was always last, so when Hikari came, Karen got the boot. So....why did Karen have no idea about the Auditions? Did her memory get wiped once she was no longer a participant? Did it have to do with Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey stuff? Also, if Futaba only decided to Audition a couple of episodes in, then who has been the 8th auditioner all this time before Hikari came? Or am I misremembering that Futuaba joined the Auditions late?]

Summary: Mahiru, a phoenix, hides in Kuro’s forest. (KuroMahi, Fantasy AU)
The grass was burnt beneath Mahiru who was making a nest for himself. He flapped his wings and loosened the leaves from the branches above him. Mahiru collected them the best he could and sat down. He had made the forest his new home but he wasn’t certain how long he could stay. Since he was a phoenix, many people hunted him. His fiery feathers were essential to create powerful potions.
He placed his hand on a tree trunk and burned a small mirror into the wood with a spell. He used its reflection to brush his wings and straighten his feathers. His sharp senses told him of a presence behind him before he saw the bushes shake in the mirror. Mahiru summoned a ball of fire in his hand and he turned to face the person approaching him.
He let out a breath of relief when he saw that it was only a black cat. He didn’t sense anyone else so he let his flame dwindled in his hand. Mahiru approached the small animal and reached out his hand to it. “I’m sorry for almost attacking you. I’m a little jumpy. How about I treat you to dinner as an apology? I should have dried fish in my bag.”
Mahiru took out a fish to feed the cat but he noticed how hesitant it was to approach him. He understood why it was cautious all too well so he placed the fish on the ground. He sat against the tree and gave the creature some space. The cat picked up the fish in its mouth and climbed on his lap. When he patted the cat, he noticed that it had a small scar over its right eye.
“Did someone hurt you? I’m sorry you had to go through that. I can understand why you’re so cautious because we are similar.” Mahiru spoke softly to the cat so he wouldn’t scare it away. He couldn’t remember the last time he had someone to talk to. “Maybe we can be friends. My name is Mahiru. What is your name?”
Predictably, the cat only purred in response. He smiled but his expression was rather solemn and lonely. Mahiru tilted his head back to look up at the night sky. The cat yawned on his lap. “I should give you name. How about Sleepy Ash? There is a full moon out tonight. Isn’t it beautiful?”
“I guess the moon is pretty but it’s nothing special since I see it every night.” Mahiru stiffened when he realized that it wasn’t the cat who replied. He stood sharply and he scanned the trees for the voice. He heard the voice behind the tree so he burned it to ashes. A tall mirror stood where the tree once did but Mahiru had to be cautious of it.
He circled the mirror and saw that there was no one. He couldn’t sense a presence either. Yet, Mahiru couldn’t deny that he heard someone speak. He noticed Ash scratching on the glass and he walked around the mirror. Mahiru gasped when he found a man in the mirror. The man wasn’t a reflection though. Cautiously, Mahiru touched the mirror but he could only feel the glass beneath his fingers. It didn’t seem like the mirror was a portal.
“Who are you?” Mahiru had to ask.
“I’m Kuro, the guardian of this forest. I don’t mind if you’re making a home here but please don’t burn down any more trees.” Guilt passed Mahiru’s face and he apologized. Kuro shrugged and said, “It’s partly my fault for surprising you. You’re a phoenix but you act more like a stray cat with how skittish you are.”
Mahiru folded his wing around himself and brushed his hands over the feather. It was impossible to deny that he was a phoenix with his wings. He looked back to Kuro but he couldn’t see any judgement in his red eyes. He was surprised he didn’t immediately force him to leave considering how dangerous phoenixes were. As a forest guardian, he had the power to do so. “You’re not going to tell me to leave?”
“You already made a nest here and it’ll be troublesome to regrow all that grass.” Kuro said. Mahiru still appeared wary and he wondered what he had been through. He explained, “It doesn’t seem like you’re dangerous. My brother says everyone deserves a home and I agree with him. This forest is large enough for a phoenix. As long as you promise to not burn any more of my trees, you can stay.”
“Thank you.” Mahiru smiled for the first time since they met. It was as brilliant as the sun. Kuro’s hospitality and kindness touched Mahiru. He reassured Kuro, “I will be careful with my fire. Honestly, I don’t like fighting and I tend to fly away whenever I can. But, if a hunter comes, I’ll help defend your forest so no damage will ever come to it. This is my home now, after all.”
Mahiru held out his hand to shake Kuro’s but then he realized that there was a mirror between them. He chuckled and placed his hand on the glass. “Let’s be friends, Kuro.”
“Kuro, look at these flowers I picked. Aren’t these daisies beautiful? Daisies don’t usually bloom at this time of year but I found a cluster of them on the edge of the forest.” Mahiru stopped in front of Kuro’s mirror and held out the flowers to him. “You’re the forest’s guardian so you probably knew about these flowers already. It’s a shame we can’t see them together though.”
Most forest guardians were spirits who don’t have a physical body. Spirits could only communicate through enchanted objects like the mirror. Despite that, they became friends over time. Mahiru had lived in the forest for a week now and his days were peaceful. He had to admit that it was easier to trust Kuro than others. As a forest guardian, he didn’t have a reason to betray him to hunters.
The forest was dense and not many people venture inside. Mahiru felt like he found a safe haven. He sat down and made a small fire so he could cook dinner. Ash pawed at the fish he recently caught and Mahiru had to lightly nudge it aside. “Be patient, Ash. I need to season and cook this properly. Thinking simply, it’ll taste better if I take my time. But you can have a taste test.”
Mahiru ripped off a piece of fish and fed it to the cat. It nestled against his side and Mahiru petted it fondly before he returned to cooking. He told Kuro about his day and their pleasant conversation filled the night. He enjoyed talking with someone over dinner after spending years running. The only thing he wished he could do was let Kuro taste his food but he was a forest spirit.
Once the fish was cooked, he slipped it onto a large leaf. He placed it in front of Ash before he made a plate for himself. He bit into the fish and hummed happily. “I found some spices near the daisies and used them for the first time. I like it. It’s less spicy than the seasoning in the region I’m from. I used to live in the mountains to the east.”
“I heard the air in the mountain is very fresh.” Kuro sat against the mirror and he leaned his head against the wooden frame. Mahiru nodded and nostalgia softened his smile.
“It was a great place to fly too. There’s a lot of open air and I could stretch my wings for miles.” Mahiru spread his wings and laid down on his back. He stared up at the starry sky and stretched his hands towards them. They seemed so far away. He had to admit that he missed flying but it was too risky to be seen.
He curled into a ball and used his wing as a warm blanket. Ash made its way under his wing and went to sleep. He felt his eyes become heavy due to the late hours. He felt safe in the forest. Mahiru turned onto his side and smiled at Kuro, “Thank you for letting me stay in your forest. Sleep tight, Kuro.”
“Goodnight.” He whispered back to him. He could hear Mahiru’s breathing slow as he drift to sleep. Kuro waited until he was certain that Mahiru was asleep before he stepped out of the mirror. He rubbed his stiff neck and groaned. Guilt stabbed his heart when he saw Mahiru sleeping on the ground. He never told him that he wasn’t a mere spirit but a guardian dragon.
Mahiru was the one who assumed he was a spirit but Kuro didn’t correct him. It still felt like he was lying to him. When Mahiru first entered his forest, Kuro could see that he was scared and he didn’t want to frighten him further. Now he didn’t know how he would tell Mahiru the truth after listening to his story. He decided to think it over as he took a walk. Every night, he would walk through the forest and see if anyone needed his help. It was his duty to help maintain the forest and protect its residents.
He found that he had a lot less work lately. Mahiru would stop conflicts within the forest and tended to injured animals during the day. For someone who controlled fire, he was very gentle. Kuro looked up at the sky and his thoughts returned to Mahiru. He wondered if he missed the sky. While he said he was happy to have a safe home, he was a phoenix.
Kuro sighed and walked back to the mirror. When he walked past the nest Mahiru made, he took off his jacket. He folded it and then slipped it beneath his head so he would have a pillow. Kuro understood and sympathized with Mahiru’s loneliness so he wanted to help him. He was careful not to wake him up as he returned to his home in the trees.
“You seem tired, Kuro. Did you get enough sleep last night?” Mahiru asked when he saw him yawn for the second time that morning. He was tending to an injured bird he found and talking with Kuro.
“I’m always tired.” His response made Mahiru laugh softly. In the mirror’s reflection, it appeared like they were sitting next to each other. He wished that was true and they could spend time together like normal friends.
Mahiru held a split against the bird’s broken wing while Kuro helped bind it. He used his powers to wrap its wing with a leaf. The bird chirped happily as Mahiru gently rubbed its heard with his finger. On the other hand, Ash was purring for attention. It forced its head into his hand and snuggled against his palm. Kuro chuckled and thought of how much the animals liked Mahiru.
“Ash, let me take care of this bird. I will play with you afterwards.” He gave the cat a friendly pat on its head. Mahiru lifted the bird slightly and placed it on a branch. “You need to rest while your wing heals. I know it will be difficult but this is for the best. It’ll only be temporary until you’re better.”
“Do you miss flying?” The expression Mahiru made answered his question. Kuro stepped to the edge of the mirror and placed his hand on the glass. “I think I know a way you can fly without people finding that you’re a phoenix. But there’s something else I need to tell you first. I don’t know how you will feel about it though. Mahiru, I...”
“You can tell me, Kuro. We’re friends.” Mahiru placed his hand over Kuro’s on the mirror. He smiled reassuringly at him and it made his heart flutter. At the same time, Kuro still felt hesitant because he didn’t want Mahiru to feel betrayed. He thought he deserved the truth though. He started to tell him but he was interrupted by an arrow striking the ground near his foot.
Mahiru’s instincts began to scream and he jumped to his feet. He turned around and saw hunters surround him. He was so distracted with Kuro that he hadn’t noticed them sooner. Usually, he would fly away but he didn’t want to abandon Kuro. He couldn’t fight them with his fire though. His mind started to race for a solution as he slowly backed away from them.
“My feathers!” Mahiru exclaimed to stop the hunters. After facing so many, he knew it would be difficult to negotiate with them. “I know my feathers are valuable. If you want them, you can take the ones that have already fallen out. There’s more than enough in my nest over there. You must leave this forest peacefully though. No one needs to be hurt. Please.”
The man leading the hunters didn’t lower his weapon. Even if he did agree to his peaceful terms, it would only be a temporary solution. More hunters would come now that they knew he made a nest in the forest. He didn’t want to fly away but leaving seemed to be the best way to keep the forest safe. He bit his lip and resigned himself to leaving.
Low hissing caught his attention and he looked down at his feet. Ash was growling at the hunters and trying defend him. The cat couldn’t do much when a hunter kicked it away and grabbed Mahiru’s wing. His anger flared to life when he saw Ash hurt and the hunter holding him was burned. Mahiru raised his hand and melted the sword the hunter was holding.
“I don’t want to fight but I will defend my home and my friends. Leave and never return to this forest!” While some of them ran, a few remained behind to fight. Mahiru stepped in front of the mirror to protect Kuro. His back was pressed against the cold glass but he knew that he couldn’t do much without his fire. A hunter aimed an arrow at him and Mahiru gathered flames in his palm.
The glass suddenly became warm behind him and Mahiru was pushed aside. He was too surprised to react or process what happened. Kuro jumped out of the mirror and controlled the trees to block the arrows. He also restrained the hunters with thick roots. Shadows circled Kuro as he spoke in a firm voice. “This forest is under my protection. Trespass again and you will face my wrath.”
The hunters ran away when they felt Kuro’s power. He was glad that the fight ended quickly and they didn’t need to fight. Kuro turned around and held out his hand to help Mahiru. The shock and confusion in his brown eyes stopped him. He lowered his hand and said: “I’m sorry, Mahiru. This wasn’t how I wanted to tell you.”
“You’re not a guardian spirit?” Mahiru’s voice shook. His wings unfolded slightly, as if he was about to fly away. Kuro couldn’t blame him if he did since he broke his trust.
“I’m a guardian dragon.” He explained. “I thought you would freak out if you knew the truth right away. Dragons are seen as dangerous creatures. But I was going to tell you eventually, I swear.”
Mahiru remembered the memories they made together. If Kuro truly intended to betray him and take his feathers, he would’ve done so sooner. He stepped closer and hesitantly placed his hand on Kuro’s cheek. His fingers stopped shaking when he felt how warm his skin was. Neither of them moved or spoke for a moment.
Finally, Mahiru spoke: “You said you knew a way I could fly without people discovering I’m a phoenix. Were you going to tell me that you are a dragon?”
Kuro slowly nodded and gathered shadows around him. The dark mist kept Mahiru from seeing his transformation but he could feel scales appear beneath his hand. After the shadows dispersed, he found a majestic dragon before him. His scales were as dark as the night sky. Mahiru looked into his crimson eyes and any fears he had disappeared.
“If you sit on my back, people won’t see you flying.” Then, Kuro asked. “Do you want to fly with me?”
“I would love to.”

puttin under a read more cause it got long snksnksnskn
2. Favourite protagonist?
i’m gunna be real, i like playing as hajime a lot plus theres some moments where he’s being ridiculous and you’re powerless to stop it so you’re just there, face in your hands, losing your shit snickering.
3. Favourite antagonistic character?
points at my url gently...i know i’m an izuru kinnie but i think he has a lot of nuance espec cause he can fit an antagonist role while still being generally neutral on the havoc he wreaks
4. Favourite character?
i’m very bad at choosing but taka was my first fave and the first character i ever grew attached to that was ripped from me so i’m gonna say taka
5. Best girl?
hina, sakura, ibuki, peko, miu!!! i think my “type” is the girls who are either super stoic or super energetic pffft
6. Best boy?
i already talked abt taka earlier so kazuichi and leon are my beloved weenies
7. Favourite class trial from all the games?
the last class trial in the first game where you as makoto get to earn the title ultimate hope and the mastermind is finally revealed after the 20+ hours of grief and struggle you’ve just been put through and you get that satisfying ending of the mastermind paying for their crimes and everyone getting to go free is just...so good and so climactic i adore it
8. Least favourite character?
if i was in a room and my choices were to delete hifumi yamada from existence and die or survive while having hifumi yamada remain in this world i would choose to sacrifice myself
9. Least favourite class trial?
probably the second one in the first game, because it had all the things i was upset with. the way the genocide jack/jill and toko situation was handled was awful even with it taken in consideration that the game usually uses very trope-y characters, and the whooole thing with chihiro is uncomfortable for the entire trial, and then it all ends with an execution where if you think about it too much it makes your stomach whirl
10. What would be your Ultimate Title?
hmmm something like ultimate tarot card reader or ultimate divination/psychic maybe!!!
15. Your absolute OTP?
oh god i ship everything...i like komahina a lot though even tho i have another handful of ships for hajime
16. Your absolute BROTP?
fuyuhiko and nagito obviously
17. Do you have an OT3? Which one?
none that i can think of rn even tho i’m definitely open to a lot of them...i support gundham dating both sonia and kazuichi while sonia and kazuichi are best friends tho
18. Favourite rare ship?
i’m rly fond of fuyuhiko/nekomaru [hikomaru???] and kamuegi
19. Who do you think is an underrated character?
i feel like toko doesn’t get nearly enough love oh my gosh...i see her dismissed as an accessory to byakuya or “the girl w the serial killer” so often and it makes me so upset...also mukuro generally gets outright ignored even though there’s a lot to her
20.  Who do you think is an overrated character?
i feel like i see a lot of stuff for mikan everywhere??? but i...don’t like her that much. her personality kinda feels like the same thing all the time, under the despair disease she feels like junko 2 electric boogaloo or tsumugi the squeakquel, and her execution was underwhelming. and she also killed ibuki, the best gal :(
26. Favourite execution?
oh god definitely leon’s. the first execution of the first game and it goes hard as hell. it’s one of the few if only times you see red blood in the game, he goes out kicking and screaming in a way that you have to feel sorry for him. it’s an unbelievable way to start off the game and really encapsulates all of the wild ride danganronpa is gonna put you in for.
27. Least favourite execution?
as i said before, mikan’s was...underwhelming. as the ultimate nurse who spent her life being a doormat only to kill out of love, there’s an amazing amount of executions and ideas that would have been full of nuance and really interesting but instead she just gets blasted into fucking orbit
28. Favourite unused execution?
oh god i love byakuya’s unused execution because it’s one of those executions that focuses less on the character’s talent and more on the character’s fear. when you realize what byakuya’s future could have been, pretty much complete estrangement from the family and having to build up everything on his own with the fear of poverty constantly looming.
plus the fact that he fights because he could have condemned his half-siblings to that fate only for he, himself, to lose in a killing game and die thinking he was a disgrace is so painful. not to mention the execution itself is a slow and painful death.
it’s so brutal, so focused on breaking every fear and effort of the character, that i think it’s one of those executions that would come to mind whenever you wanted a picture definition for “despair”.
29. Which character should survived in your opinion?
leon kuwata should have lived...he was talented but he was still a normal-ish boy who couldve kept everyone at their wits in the killing game by reminding them what was waiting for them out there. lots of others but i’ve been thinking of baseball husband lately
31. Is there a character you think who shouldn’t have survived but did?
i love yasuhiro that weed smoking boy but he was too dumb to live
32. Least favourite protagonist?
uhhh hmmm i like all of them but kaede had the least screentime so she’s a protagonist where her personality isn’t 100% crystal-clear so. i GUESS
33. Character with the best clothing?
i want chiaki’s hoodie and backpack and LOOK more than i want to breathe oxygen. junko also has a fucking aesthetic
37. Favourite minor character?
taichi fujisaki i guess??? programmer dad
45. Unpopular opinion?
i dunno what other people think of this because i haven’t heard anything about it, but the closing argument minigame was better in sdr1
46. Unpopular headcanon?
i think genocide jack/jill is nonbinary but i’ve never seen anybody else who has the same headcanon
47. A headcanon you have about a character?
one of my long-time headcanons is that makoto is trans...yeet
48. Favourite OST?
danganronpa 2 has bop after bop. miss monomi’s practice lesson? bop. all the execution themes? bops. ikoroshia and ekoroshia? bops. i am constantly jamming the fuck out in this game
51. Character you thought you were gonna dislike but loved in the end?
i thought i was always gonna hate hiyoko and yeah she does have flaws but i actually like her a lot more than i used to
52. Character you thought you would like but disliked in the end?
thought korekiyo was gonna be a cool dude who was a lil weird and emo but still fun. boy was i wrong. im stealing him from spiky chunky until they learn to stop it
59. Favourite moment?
again, the final trial in the first game is fucking amazing, but also the final trial in the second game with hajime and chiaki plus all the izuru stuff and all the messages there r just. good as hell aaah
60. Saddest moment?
all of chapter 2 in sdr2 was painful. mahiru, who was a force of good, dies, the trial is difficult, the twilight syndrome murder case is terrifying, hiyoko is mourning and you have to spit it right back in her face for awhile that she’s the prime suspect...
and then the only reward you get for finding the real killer is feeling guilty as the tears run and then your final reward is getting to watch as one of your friends dies while the other gets mortally injured and barely survives and then only a bit of gametime later attempts suicide in front of you. it is blow after blow w/o breaks
63. Describe Kyoko Kirigiri in 3 words!
lovely detective lady
67. Which character would you never want to meet in real life?
hifumi because i would be wearing an anime tshirt cause im a fucking weeb and then he’d be an incel while i suffered just trying to buy a lifetime supply of panda candy from hot topic
68. Which character would you like to meet in real life?
kazuichi cause he seems p chill and like the type of person you could just hang out with or have a chat with casually and not have to worry about first impressions and stuff like that
69. Choose one character which you would take with you on a trip.
70. Character you would have a sleepover with?
chiaki because we’re both super sleepy but we could also play a bunch of games together and then pass out together with a bunch of snacks
71. Character you can relate to?
sorry to be kinnie on main but izuru, i relate to that feeling of always excelling at everything you do and as a result being constantly bored, so whether what happens is good or bad doesn’t matter so long as it’s interesting
72. Character you can relate to but you dislike them?
kokichi, again being kinnie on main but while i relate i dislike it because it’s a reminder of my tendency to lie to others and to myself for any number of purposes
73. Character who deserved better?
[sniffles softly] taka. also keebo. toko too tbh
81. Could you be the Ultimate Lucky Student?
probably??? my luck varies from being unbelievably good and unbelievably bad so hey
97. Overrated ship which is your NOTP?
toko/byakuya for sure. i don’t like the it(tm)
99. Your absolute NOTP?
junko being shipped with anyone but especially with the sdr2 cast because it is gross. let the sdr2 cast do the right thing and get to pull a knife on junko instead
100. Opinion on all the Protagonists!
makoto: a boy who has a mouth and must scream. he’s not having a good time but hes trying his best
hajime: a good, refined boy. he knows how to say and spell big words like antidisestablishmentarianism, or however that goddamn word is spelled. the most paranoid boy
komaru: a good gal, a lil anxious but very strong and ready to kick ass. a funky little lesbian
toko: a blessed gal who needs more appreciation. her time as a protagonist is extremely gay, meaning she is also a funky little lesbian.
kaede: she doesn’t have much screen time but i appreciate her. she’s nice to people and confident whereas everyone else in this series is nervous
shuichi: nervous and emo, shuichi truly represents teenage america in the years 2007-2012, possibly 2013. i adore him
