AITA for Insisting My Friends Stop Exploring the Mansion and Just Leave?

So, I (24M) recently found myself stuck in this creepy old mansion with people I barely know.We’re here because there’s some weird energy thing going on in this place, and they’re all fascinated by it. Me? I just want to get out without triggering something dangerous.

The thing is, I know my own powers can get pretty wild if I’m not careful. But I’m also getting this strong feeling that the longer we stay, the worse things are going to get. The mansion’s got all these eerie vibes, and I’ve got a hunch it’s hiding something big and dangerous.

These people, though? They’re not seeing it. I’ve told them multiple times that we should just cut our losses and leave before things get worse, but they think I’m overreacting or being paranoid.

After another round of me saying, “Seriously, we need to leave now,” they both got annoyed. Now, they’re giving me the cold shoulder, and I’m starting to wonder if I’m being too cautious.

So, AITA for insisting we bail on this mansion instead of exploring it like they want to? I get that they’re curious, but I can’t shake the feeling that sticking around is just asking for trouble.

EDIT: To be clear, nothing super bad has happened yet, but I can feel something brewing. Maybe I’m just too in my head about this, but I’d rather be safe than sorry.

Leif was at the head of the column, with the rest of the group following close. Fen had placed himself near the rear as he had some concerns about Rail. The youngster had taken it upon himself to carry the group’s camping and cooking equipment. All heavy stuff to be sure, and Rail was not used to carrying such loads, having been born to a well-off family that did not do much manual labor. And so Fen decided to stay close in case the packs need redistribution. He did not have to worry. Rail bore his burden without any complaint.

GVSKFJFKSKS GRIMADOC I– this ship sent my soul into orbit. completely unexpected, and i actually don't hate it at all. what is this madness 😂🙈 anyways, thank you for enlightening me this fine friday afternoon.

who reaches out to new neighbours?

Madoc. definitely Madoc. while he is slightly less intimidating and has operated under the High King's Court etiquette for decades, Grima Mog is feral and keeps chunks of dead people in her fridge. absolutely no contest.

who remembers to buy healthy food?

Madoc. Grima Mog would live off the neighbours if no one was there to stop her.

who remembers to buy junk food?

Grima Mog. her second favourite food behind blood is honey.

who fixes the oven when it breaks?

Grima Mog. Madoc has grown up with servants at his beck and call. wouldn't bother himself with something so menial. Grima Mog seems the type to know how to get her hands dirty.

who waters the plants/feeds their pet(s)?

Madoc. safe to say he has more of a parental streak than Grima Mog. and i'd like to believe Madoc is absolutely a plant mom/animal dad.

who wakes up earlier?

Madoc usually. he's more consistent with his sleeping schedule anyway.

who makes the bed?

Madoc. needs things orderly or he'll lose it.

who makes the coffee?

the servants probably lol. but barring them, then Grima Mog. Madoc doesn't seem the type to give himself over to any sort of addiction/dependency.

who burns the breakfast?

Madoc. spoiled baby. Grima Mog could make a decent breakfast from a shrubbery if you asked nicely.

how do they let each other know they're leaving the house?

slamming the front door really loudly and hoping the other one hears.

how do they greet each other when the other gets home?

sneak attack that turns into grappling and whoever draws first blood says "if the enemy leaves a door open, you must rush in" or some other bullshit Art of War quote.

who brings home little gifts like flowers/chocolate more often?

Grima Mog. but it's deffo not flowers or chocolate. more like weapons and war strategies. the occasional wood carving makes it in there too. like our Jude, she's very skilled with a blade.

who picks the movie for movie night?

Grima Mog. good thing they both have exactly the same taste in films.

their favourite kind of movie to watch?

the blood and violence kind.

who first suggests a pillow fort?

Oak. it starts off innocently, then turns into a full-fledged battle camp with opposing sides and takes over the whole house a la that one episode of Community.

who builds the pillow fort?

both of them. but they start on opposite sides of the room and race to "occupy territory" 🙄

who tries to distract the other during the movie?

neither. they're both too disciplined for that, especially regarding something so exciting as blood being spilled on a battlefield.

who falls asleep first?

Madoc. he's more on a regimented schedule than Grima Mog.

who is the big spoon/little spoon?

they both sleep lying on their backs, straight as boards, one hand on their bed blades. so it's more like big knife/even bigger knife.

Badly Summarised WIP

A cop pretends to be a criminal, a criminal pretends to be a cop, and they both fall for the absolute worst people they could. Meanwhile, everyone is too busy playing both sides to remember what side they’re actually on.

A moody mansion gives off weird vibes, so a bunch of troubled folks with dark pasts decide to move in. As the mansion gets creepier, everyone realizes they’re running out of time to figure out what’s going on—or else they'll end up as the next victims of whatever curse or bad juju is lurking in the shadows. Oh, and betrayal? Not today.

Depressed king tries to poison himself, accidentally body-swaps with his knight instead. Now they have to not die while pretending to be each other, all while dealing with a shady minister who's secretly running the kingdom.

Ex-Bestie comes back from the dead, but oops—he's possessed by necromancer. Now it's up to his slightly emo friend and his frenemies to save him before the Necromancer turns everyone into zombies. Friendship, betrayal, and magical drama ensue. Also, everyone really needs therapy.

A washed-up genius with a messy beard gets dragged back into the university he barely survived, only to go undercover and solve a murder mystery that everyone’s pretending didn’t happen. With a team consisting of a conspiracy theorist and a walking encyclopedia, he uncovers secrets that probably should’ve stayed buried. It’s like Scooby-Doo for people with a crippling fear of failing finals.

Diver with her friends accidentally discover ancient history while dodging romantic tension, sarcastic banter, and creepy dreams. A linguist and an artist with a crush round out the dysfunctional team. Also, there’s a really old statue involved, but nobody is sure what it means yet.

A paralyzed noble teams up with a retired assassin, who has questionable motives, to dodge death while playing bodyguard to a powerful Queen in a matriarchal kingdom full of backstabbing aristocrats who are really bad at their jobs.

Zaharsian Narcis Yasheria stood in the shadow of the grand marble columns, his gaze locked on the empty throne before him. How many times had he stood here, holding together the kingdom that should have crumbled long ago? A kingdom built on fractured promises and rotting foundations, kept standing only by his unwavering hand. He should have felt pride. But all he felt was exhaustion.

The nobles whispered about honor and loyalty, but Zaharsian knew better. It was a game, a delicate arrangement of lies and alliances, and he had played it well—too well. Yet, after years of watching the Valrene dynasty slowly poison itself, his patience had run thin. The king had promised much, but the promises of royalty were as worthless as the breath used to utter them.

The betrayal of his marriage was just one more thread unraveling in the tapestry of deceit. Zaharsian’s lips curled into a humorless smile as he recalled the king's grand offer—his son, Montaz, was supposed to bind the Yasheria family to the crown, yet even that had been a farce.

And now, the throne room stood empty, just as it had always been in truth. His resignation had been the final blow, the moment he withdrew his hand from holding the kingdom together.

But he knew it was far from over.

Ruwan’s back was turned, his body still radiant with the faint sheen of sweat from hours of rehearsal. The dim lighting of the studio made his silhouette seem softer, vulnerable even. Ariniel approached quietly, his steps careful and measured, his heart thudding louder than his footfalls.

When he reached Ruwan, he stopped just short of touching him, hesitating for only a moment before gently pressing his lips to the nape of Ruwan’s neck, where the dancer’s hair curled slightly from the heat. It was a delicate kiss, reverent, but there was something more—something possessive in the way Ariniel lingered there, drawing in the scent he had become addicted to.

Ruwan inhaled deeply, closing his eyes. “Ari...” His voice was a quiet exhale, laced with affection and something like resignation. He didn’t turn around, didn’t move away. He leaned back slightly, almost inviting the next kiss that would soon follow—a soft press of lips against his jaw, tender but with the undertone of something much darker.

Ariniel buried his face into the curve of Ruwan's neck, leaving a trail of whispered kisses down his skin. “You’re mine,” he murmured, the words thick with devotion and quiet obsession.

And Ruwan, tilted his head to the side, letting Ariniel in just a little more.

Sahura’s cruel reputation didn’t match the warmth in his voice, the familiar tilt of his smile, or the way his gaze lingered.

Eliseo felt it, that looming disaster—the one he’d read about countless times—but it felt different when the king stared at him like that.

The Commander barked orders somewhere in the distance, but all Eliseo could hear was his own heartbeat, knowing what was coming.

He should have run, should have left Sahura to his fate, but his legs wouldn’t move.

How could he leave, when the king looked so much like the one person he had once sworn to protect?

Famien Hywell Lorcus:

- Introvert or Extrovert?

Ambivert. Famien prefers solitude or the company of a trusted few. He values deep, meaningful connections over surface-level interactions, often keeping his thoughts and emotions guarded. His introspective nature allows him to reflect deeply on his duties and the world around him. But at the same time, he sometimes enjoys the company of his friends

- Are you a planner?

Yes. Famien is meticulous and methodical, sometimes, especially when it comes to his responsibilities as a knight. He believes that careful planning is essential for survival, both in battle and in navigating the treacherous world of court politics.

- Least Favourite Memory?

"The day my father died defending the king." Famien vividly recalls the moment his father, a loyal knight, was struck down in battle while protecting the former king. The loss left a deep scar on his heart, fueling his determination to honor his father’s legacy by serving and protecting the current king, Mirique.

Mirique Nenjassik Fiera Khemed:

Introvert. Mirique is reserved and introspective, often retreating into his thoughts as a means of coping with his powerlessness. His introversion stems from years of being overshadowed by his minister, Farnak, and the burden of the crown that leaves him isolated from those he wishes to trust.

No. Mirique tends to be more reactive than proactive. "Assassinationof all my family members.... Except me" The moment Mirique fully understood that he was the only one surviving, was a crushing realization. It marked the beginning of his despair and feelings of helplessness, leading him down the dark path towards contemplating suicide.
