A howl on the wind
Tumblr media
Welcome, welcome! I'm Rowan, just your average thirty-something wolf here on Tumblr. Check out the info under the cut if you'd like to know more about me. And don't be afraid to come say hi. I promise I don't bite, but I might sniff a little.
Name: Rowan Age: 30s Gender: Genderqueer Pronouns: Xe/xir preferred, but they/them is fine too Kintypes: Canadian timber wolf, African golden wolf, coastal gryphon, kiko kawa kitsune Kithtypes: Crow, raven, red-tailed hawk Plurality: Still working on figuring out the details and trying to get used to both terminology and headmates, but yes, we're a small system Interests: Lore, balladry, writing Additional: I (the host) am a suntherian. This means I'm always somewhere in flux between kintypes and humanity. What you're going to get with me varies day to day, but I'm always some level of shifted. The others have their own weirdness going on.
I don't have much in the way of rules for this blog, aside from the commonplace and common sense.
Be respectful of both me and others. I don't expect you to agree with me or anybody else 100% of the time, but I do expect you not to be hateful about it.
This blog is not a place for homophobia, transphobia, racism, TERFS, MAPs, zetas/zoos... Basically see rule 1 on this and also don't be vile. Although I will warn you that I do not tolerate intolerance. There are opinions and then there are threats and it doesn't take a genius to figure out which one transphobia or any other sort of hate are.
This is a therian/otherkin-centered blog with a side of plurality. If you have a problem with that, please see yourself out. My fur is too grey to put up with that BS.
I don't care how your system formed. If you're a system, you're a system. I'm not going to question your understanding of yourself. I expect you to trust me to know myself and therefore I will trust you to know yourself.
I am willing to answer questions on most topics. That's how people learn and I've been around long enough in enough marginalized communities to be fine with questions. Just ask them respectfully.
If you're a minor, I don't mind you coming to this blog with questions. But please understand that I will not be willing to accept DMs from minors. I'm in my 30s. I'm happy to talk to you on the dash (which is basically the Tumblr equivalent of "in public"), though, and everyone is welcome to ask questions and reply to posts.
None of the images on this blog were photographed/drawn by me. I can words, but I cannot art. I have made no effort to remove creator's marks if present. If any of these belong to you and you'd like them taken down, please message me and I'll do that.
That's basically me. I'd love for you to come introduce yourself. Say hi, hang around a while. I would really like to meet more alterhumans!

***THIS IS A POST ABOUT MY PERSONAL TASTES, NOT ABOUT THE VALIDITY OF CERTAIN CREATIVE OUTPUTS/FORMS/ACTIVITIES/COLLABORATIONS***
Ok. Once again. Pretty much every time I see a cool ttrpg concept I'm like, damn I wish someone developed this into a novel so I could meaningfully engage with it.!

INDREAMING is an in character ask blog for FEO UL from Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers. This blog will contain untagged spoilers for that expansion, so follow at your own risk!
That being said, Feo Ul may bother your WOL unprompted, as they are wont to do with their precious Sapling. Feel free to ignore if you do not wish to interact (although Feo Ul will sulk about it later).

Monster could possibly work if you got a fruit iced tea. I'm guessing it was a rough conversation?
You raise a good point, but then what do I do about the 40 sugars? They'd do better being mixed into a hot drink

I love love love that we're in an age of welcoming and inclusivity when it comes to TTRPG games, as a weird loud nerd girl who could not find a goddamn table in her small mid-west hometown. Seriously.
But the current discourse, for D&D at least, seems to be having a really reactionary hate-on against people who like to play with a more strict rules-as-written style, dismissing such folk as gate-keepy.
I've got the Covid, so I'm honestly not sure what I'm trying to say here exactly, but as a "rules make games more fun" sort of nerd: Hey friends, there's tables for all of us, let's not harsh on other people's play styles.

okay! will you have any rules then? i like to know what they are before i follow to avoid potential misunderstandings.
uhhhhh um I guess my rules are
Please be older then 18. This blog doesn't contain the same sensitive material as my other blogs but it does touch on mature topics.
I will tag certain things such as any that graphically detailed and they will follow this tagging format: tw: (whatever the trigger is). however if it's just the word 'torture' then it won't be tagged.
When I say this is 'sorta kinda selective; I'm really not exclusive in who I interact with. My inbox and messages are always open if you're interested.
Don't bulldoze me or my character. Or god mod. But that's pretty obvious.
That's it for rules.

This is an appreciation post for non-native English fanfiction writers. I respect you all so much.
I respect that you might be from a country that doesn't speak English at all. You might be picking up different phrases and spellings from US English, some from RP, some just a random international mix. Or you moved to an English speaking country late and even if you speak English fluently, your brain still operates in your primary language. Maybe English lessons in your country sucked (hi, my fellow post-Socialist states of central and east Europe!) and you just learned through trial and error.
I admire that you keep writing even if you get stuck on a phrase for 30 mins because you have a perfect saying, but it's in your first language and you can't just translate it, so you end up searching for an English equivalent that just doesn't fully cover what you want. You struggle to keep the spelling consistent because there's no international standard and so you randomly switch between "colour" and "flavor" and then have to correct it again and again.
Maybe your first language doesn't have the same sentence structure like English and when you read your finished fic, it just doesn't sound right. Maybe your parents or friends speak to you when you're writing and you switch to your first language and the sentences become even wonkier.
(special shoutout to my fellow suffering Slavs and others whose languages don't have articles. Even if we know the rules, we sometimes just toss all "the"s, "an"s and "a"s into the text and pray they land correctly)
You might struggle because those events in the US history or in the Anglophone world in general that shaped a whole generation mean nothing to you. How do you keep your characters realistic if you don't know? And don't get me started on measuring systems. "What the hell are inches," you may weep as you google all those conversions.
And punctuation? Commas in all the places that seem so wrong to you but they're apparently right?
And yet you decide to struggle with all of that to show love to your fandoms. You conquer your fear of sounding wrong and being ridiculed to share your thoughts with all the fans. Consuming media in another language is difficult enough, but creating something? That's so much more.
So to all of you who struggle with all or some of this like I do - I see you. And I want you to know you are awesome.

In the wake of there not being much to update the Compendium with, I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to promote the project broadly again. ✨
Hi! My name is Sea, and I have an unhealthy obsession with taking on large community projects! This is my Final Fantasy XIV Community Compendium, focusing on linking as many XIV writing/roleplaying discords, forums, events, free companies and resources as I can get my hands on. While the inspired by and predominately tailored for role-players, it should have something for anyone looking to engage creatively with the game in some capacity.
If you'd like to simply check out what the Compendium is all about and miss my waffling below, any of the links on this post will take you there — but this is a handy one! A reblog also goes a huge way to increase my reach and find communities/resources. You're also welcome to share this post with people not on Tumblr who might be looking for communities/resources, or have something to add.
What is the Compendium?
In my opinion, the way people engage with fandom and communities has changed. It was once extremely common for people to hop onto the XIV Roleplaying Forum or find people looking for contact on Tumblr, but most of these resources have shifted to Discord. While Discord is great for keeping a community when you have it, the isolation of these communities into hidden, secular spaces doesn’t do a lot to help people find them in the first place and creates an air of loneliness/disconnect for new players or people looking to find specific communities.
I don’t believe that a person should necessarily be a part of x amount of servers to find the one that suits them, nor that all communities should necessarily be on Discord — or just plain hard to find.
However, while this is currently the standard, I’d like to try and help these communities be fostered and seen in a place accessible to basically anyone with an internet connection. If one community has benefited from this document, then I have done my part.
What's on the Compendium?
Large-scale community discords such as the XIV Reddit Discord, Hunts, GPOSE promotions and broad-space roleplay servers that harbour a large number of people and are publicly available to all. These may not have an RP focus but will assist in other aspects of the game.
Free Company & community-focused servers. E.G. an Ishgardian Roleplay server whose mission is to foster a community for Ishgardian characters; an EU server created to help players struggling with timezones. This also includes event discords such as fight clubs, markets, cafes, etc.
Friend/casual servers that have a roleplay element but may be just a group of people looking to find others to hang out and do content with.
Miscellaneous. Likely to be less community servers and more resources such as lore compilations, how-to guides, gposing techniques, boosting blogs, etc. These may get their own dedicated section later.
Want to submit? You can either fill out the google form here, send me an ask with the relevant information contained on the Compendium, or join my Discord at SEAFLOOR (21+ only)!
Is my space suitable for the Compendium? Most of the time, yes! Below the read more is some more information/stipulations. Again, all accessible on the document! 🪸
Below are the following things I do not accept on the Compendium:
Personal/Single-Character LFC ads.
Content intended for or can be used for bullying, harassment and OOC gossip. E.g. ‘Secrets’ blogs, receipts, callout posts, etc. This does not include in-character tabloid blogs used to generate RP.
Communities that do not have an RP/writing element (large-scale exempt).
Anything I find personally distasteful or goes against the spirit of this project.
Common-sense rule applies.
FAQ.
I want to put my community on the compendium but we have an application process. Is this okay?
Yes! Just note somewhere in your application that's a requirement. The only thing that is mandatory for the Compendium is that you must be open to new members or have a public-facing/accessible facet. There's no point advertising a community if no one can join it in some way!
I want to put my community on the compendium but I only have x number of members —
Also totally okay! People don't start with large communities. Activity is a must but, whether your server has two or two thousand members, if you're looking for new people to join, I'd love to help you find people.
I want to put my community on the compendium but I worry its too niche?
Okay, and? If your Eorzean Fishing Alliance has four members but you roleplay every second weekend, I still want to know about it.
What resources/communities can I add if I'm not the owner of them?
Mutual consent is extremely important to me, so anything that isn't a large-scale community OR a publicly accessible resource must be endorsed by the owner/admin/moderators in order to be added to the compendium. I operate under the assumption that a resource posted to a public space (tumblr, googledocs, youtube, etc) is open to all. A large-scale community is one with a significant member count or openly advertises itself as being accessible to everyone for whatever purpose it serves. If in doubt, please get in touch with me. I'm happy to contact your community owners for you!
How active does a community need to be?
If you find a community has not been active in about two/three months, send me a message and I'll take a look at it. Communities have ebbs and flows, especially event spaces that may take hiatuses depending on member interest/life events. I'm not strict in my implementation provided a space isn't dead. If a link or anything is broken, absolutely contact me about that.
I have [insert a question not stated here]?
No drama! Send me an ask or use the #Compendium channel in my Discord!

I fixed alignment!
Link to the document in question if you don't care to hear the tale of it.
That's a really ambitious thing to declare. I even already went to the trouble of making this because I've been planning on announcing like this.
Tumblr media
But, yeah.
Maybe I didn't fix it, per se. At worst, you can call this an alternative system to traditional alignment. And it all started because people were getting a little too complicated talking about the "nuance" of the standard alignment system and things like the MTG mana color system.
And my response was going to be "what ya'll are trying to get at is a spider graph." But that extended response post got annihilated because I didn't save it as a draft before switching tabs. So I started writing it up as its own post. And that lead to me making some demonstration graphs, and that lead to me going ahead and just writing up a whole essay. And then I adapted that essay into a variant rules module for 5e d&d.
So. Yeah. That's how I ended up making Re:Alignment. (get it, it's like a pun, because "re:" is the default header for a reply email and I'm responding to the trash state of alignment in 5e, but it's also read as "realignment" like repairing a misalignment.. it's clever, just trust me)
The document is 11 pages and can be read in its entirety as a preview on DMsGuild if you follow the link to it (easier to do on desktop). The doc outline how this approach to alignment changes how alignment works, the actual alignment system itself, and describes what I have essentially replaced good, evil, lawful, chaotic, and neutral with. I also included a print friendly PDF sheet to fit into a character sheet where you can track your spider graph alignment and other important alignment based RP information. Also also, there's a standalone graph jpg that you can slap onto a modified character sheet or other RP tool of your choice.
The doc is priced as "pay what you want", so if you want a downloaded copy or one you can print (though hopefully not the last page, because I make those all black) you can get it for free. If you want to throw a little money my way or if you really like the system, you can pay however much money you want. It was like 48 hours of work, so a decent amount of effort went into this.
If you're wondering "what did this moron replace the alignments with?" I'll answer that right now. I replaced alignment with this:
Tumblr media
If you want to figure out what that means and how it works, read the doc. It's not that long and it describes it pretty thoroughly.

I can’t believe how often this comes up but holy shit why does everyone get so annoyed at Tubbo for pointing out minecraft mechanics? It’s literally minecraft roleplay. That's not rude or fail rp or whatever, it can make perfect sense even in lore. How is Phil's idea that the eye soldiers are totally wearing op armor we just can’t see it any better than Tubbo pointing out that they’re crazy powerful even without armor? The characters are aware that potions, beacons, etc. exist and that they can toggle on visible armor so why can’t they use that knowledge? They don’t need to have “”armor”” to have a cool plot reason for how strong they are, it could be literally anything. It's so stupid that certain people's version of events get to take precedence over others. Apparently Bagi and Fit can just say no to roleplay and that it’s not fair while hiding in a secret base with their eggs but Tubbo suggesting stuff like that is somehow bad? And why when he first joined was everyone allowed to tell him in rp that all his efforts and hopes were useless based on their experiences but he can’t say the same now? The double standards are crazy.
Q!Tubbo feels like the one skeptic character in a paranormal movie but in his case no one can agree on what type of movie they're supposed to be in. Is the threat fully supernatural and the logical guy is going to end up looking dumb? Is it a Scooby Doo type where the bad guy really is just a guy? Is it more like Ghostbusters where the magic is real but so is the science? The last one makes the most sense for the QSMP but the rules keep changing for which things can be solved in game and which are fully roleplay with no minecraft. Of course he’s going to get it “wrong” sometimes if the rules keep changing.
I don’t really have anything to add to this, I am so over people ‘minus rp point’ing Tubbo for everything, especially stuff like described.

Hello, all! I come to you with an experimental fic commission idea! For now, it's just a small grid to see if there's much interest in it. But I know there are lots of fankid breedable grids, and I got to thinking, why not a grid for ship fics? It sounded like a fun idea for me, so I wanted to go ahead and try it!
RULES:
1. All payments must be made before I start on your fic. Payments can be made through PayPal, Venmo, or CashApp.
2. If you would like to purchase an entire row for a polyship fic, it will still be the standard tier price plus $8 each for a total of $16 extra dollars.. If you purchase A1, B2, or C3, then the fic will center around the character of choice and may not have any other characters in it as main characters.
3. Please see tier list for pricing. My commissions are also open should you want to purchase more words than are allowed here, but it will incur an extra fee of $8 per 100 words.
4. I would prefer not to take commissions outright bashing Valentino. He is my favorite and a comfort character to me, so it would be better if he was not being treated like a one-note monster.
5. I will write smut, angst, fluff, romance, and humor. These are genres I’m very well-versed in.
6. Once a purchase has been discussed, I will send you my commission form for you to fill out.
7. Fanfic examples can be found here. Please feel free to check both pseuds listed! Sunshinecackle is my main, and E-M-P-Error has all of my fics based on my rp blog interactions!
TIER LIST:
A Tier - $52 - 1,000 Words
A Tier is my standard 1k word price. You will not be charged for anything 1,001-1,099 words. A compromise can be worked out if it is a couple of words over strictly for this grid only. If you purchase a polyship fic, it will be $68.
B Tier - $31 - 700 Words
B Tier is my standard 700 word price. You will not be charged for anything 701-799 words. A compromise can be worked out if it is a couple of words over strictly for this grid only. If you purchase a polyship fic, it will be $47.
C Tier - $15 - 500 Words
C Tier is my standard flat 500 word price. You will not be charged for anything 501-599 words. A compromise can be worked out if it is a couple of words over strictly for this grid only. If you purchase a polyship fic, it will be $31.
SLOTS:
A1 - Vox-Centric Fic- Open
A2 - VoxVal Fic- Open
A3 - VoxVel Fic - Open

HEY!!!!
Apparently this is what we're doing now? Making blogs? Or something. And I don't wanna be left out! So here I am!!!
I'm Isabeau (he/him), ex-defender from Jouvente, currently traveling with the Saviors of Vaugarde. Nice to meet you!
(Could you call this an Isablog....? Hehehe.)
{Rules/Info Below Cut}
the only reason i'm not sharing who i am is because i'm a coy bastard. iykyk !! ::] (mod uses they/ze/he pronouns mostly. dubbed "mundie" by noah/miramod)
indeterminate amount of years of rp experience, although its definitely more than you think, if that even matters to anyone. probably over a decade? who knows. most of it was oc stuff though so this is a fresh new challenge for me (yippie!!)
isabeau rp blog, currently set in act 1.
heads up for full game spoilers!! seriously!!!!
majority of assets (as well as the game itself) used on this blog are directly from isat and thus made by insertdisc5 unless otherwise stated. things like sprites and portraits may be edited as i see fit.
instances of textboxes are put together in the ISAT Dialogue Maker.
Anon: On and will remain so as long as you lot behave.
Magic!Anon: Currently not allowed, several stashed in inbox.
Interactions: Allowed and welcome! I may not get to every one, for a rainbow variety of reasons I won't get into. I will simply do my best! (Note: You don't have to be in the "group" listed below to interact! Come n hang!)
Plot: Follows the general shenanigans/story of @a-traveling-star, @housemaiden-of-change, @studies-of-nothing, @snacksleader, and @loopadoop ! {hi folks}
Rules:
No sexual content. Try to keep it PG-13 in that regard. Everything else follows the general standards of the actual game-- things may get heavy, so please take care!
No harassment. I feel like this won't exactly discourage any potential attempts, but its good to set boundaries. If I deem your ask legitimately hurtful I'm just gonna delete/ignore it.
Try to stay on topic! Goofs are welcome, but try not to derail during plot/story heavy moments.
Spoilers and potentially triggering content will be tagged as such. If you have something you need tagged, shoot me an ask and I'll do my best to cover it.
Joke asks are fine as long as you behave. Me n Isabeau both have thick skin, but try not to push it.
You can talk to the mod/mun, but I may not always respond. If something is surrounded by {} <- these brackets, that's probably me speaking. Remember to address me if you want to actually, like, talk to me.

❗ "Valid Iterator Name" is not a valid Iterator name because of the direct reference to Iterators themselves.
welcome to a shameless clone of the warriors version of this blog gimmick!
this blog isn’t meant to be taken seriously or as a higher judgement than your own interpretations of Rain World and its lore. This goes off of the information granted by the base game and its DLC.
i won’t maintag on anything other than major posts/etc. iterator name submissions will be under the various general iterator tags.
feel free to ask me to make a shoutout for your iterator(s) btw, i’ll likely doodle them as well
edit: fuck it i’m allowing ancient name submissions
Basic rules: - Just don’t be a dipshit - and treat this blog like the shitpost it is <3
-
edit 2: i repeat, this blog isn’t meant to be taken 100% seriously.
i might know my shit and i might be good at helping with determining if an iterator name falls under the “standards” set by preexisting iterators, but i’m not the final level of judgement a name has to be passed through. the real final level of judgement is yourself. also, if you disagree with an answer of mine, please tell me and let me know why you disagree

Accessibility within the RPC
How we can make it a better place for everyone. These tips are coming from a accessibility educator and web tester. It's not comprehensive, but meant to give you a crash course. Especially on the most common RPC trends.
General
The more you deviate from standard English writing, the more people are going to be less likely to be able to read and interact with you. People with disabilities, neuro-divergence, or even normal people whose time is limited will be effected with each deviation.
While tools exist to make these things easier to curate someone's experience, their functionality is limited. The large majority of them work by modifying standard English sentence structure. They tend to break or not function properly otherwise.
Some screenreaders for example struggle with all lowercase/uppercase text, double/multi spacing between words, lack of punctuation, etc. They will end up reading the text back in very odd ways.
Color can be make it difficult as well. The themes on Tumblr are varied. Your writing partner could be using these theme and your colored text is nearly impossible to read because of their theme. There are also color contrast issues for people with varying degrees of color blindness.
Accessibility is not one size fits all. Talk with your writing partners about their specific needs.
Tips for a more accessible blog and replies
Look for themes / carrds that are W3G compliant.
Don't use all lowercase text in your replies ( lapslock ).
Don't use all uppercase text outside of well-known acronyms.
Don't put multiple spaces between your words.
Use punctuation in your sentences.
Don't use color in your blog's text.
Use themes / carrds that say what the button/link is for. I, II, III, IV don't really give an indication of what's there. List it out: Rules, Muses, Connections, etc.
Make sure your theme uses at least 16px font sizing. Tumblr's post small font is 13px which is below the standard. The regular font however fits.
Don't make important links or link context like text appear on hover. A mobile device can't see it. Someone who is keyboard only can't either.
Again this isn't comprehensive, but it will give you a start. This is to help be more inclusive with your replies and blogs. This isn't to shame anyone for their aesthetics, but to point out things we can all do to make the RPC more accessible.
What if I like my aesthetics and don't want to change?
That's fine. Just understand it means fewer people can read, process, or comprehend your writing. Better yet if you don't want to switch and instead compromise? Make it very clear in either your rules, pinned post, carrd, etc that you will absolutely switch to regular formatting upon request.
This will help bridge the gap that people with fewer spoons to reach out over this will feel more comfortable doing so.
At the end of the day when we make our replies and RP blogs accessible for those who need it, we make it more accessible for everyone.
