Do you think TTRPG-style fantasy worlds make the distinction between interspecies cannibalism and intraspecies anthropophagy, or is eating people just considered eating people? (Except possibly by doctors and natural philosophers studying the fantasy equivalent of prion diseases etc., where biological similarity or lack thereof between consumer and consumed might be relevant?)

I think there are lots of ways to create an antagonistic-by-default humanoid culture in fantasy worldbuilding without making every single member Assigned Dickbag At Birth. You just need to give them a strong material or social incentive to make trouble in the player characters' directions.
"Why are drow Like That?"
A. Very long lifespans mean it can take centuries for high-status positions to open up, leaving many young adult drow full of frustrated ambition. B. Low birth-rates mean that open armed conflict between drow could be a demographic disaster, leading to a preference for more subtle forms of maneuvering for power. C. Combined common Underdark belief that surface people are soft and elven belief that non-elves are rather short-sighted and unsophisticated.
All of which leads to many ambitious young drow leaving their home communities to become surface people's problem, either in the hope of accomplishing something so impressive that the power structure back home will be forced to acknowledge them, or that they'll easily claw their way to the top of the local hierarchy with their Underdark Savvy and all the locals will think they're super badass.
So there's probably plenty of drow just minding their own business on their mushroom farms, but they're not getting up to anything that requires the intervention of adventurers.

Open starter
(may or may not become canon im using this to help figure out the plot) (pretend you at least kind of know her by now) (tw for gore kinda, being abused and otherwise really hurt, transphobia, being misgendered, gender dysphoria, being held captive, all that fun stuff)
You, for whatever reason, were on the search team trying to find Kiara, along with Amaia and some other Hunters of Artemis. There had finally been a solid lead as to where exactly she was being kept.
And so you found her finally, in one of the few moments where there wasn't someone— something near her. She was barely recognizable from when you last saw her. She was injured and bruised all over, and that look in her eyes... the fear. She didn't often have an expression like that.

Have you played The Silt Verses Roleplaying Game
By Gabriel Robinson & Jason Cordova
Tumblr media
A game of folk horror & monstrous divinity.
From the drivethrurpg page: "In The Silt Verses RPG, you play Custodians, employees of the Bureau for the Investigation and Assimilation of Stray Deities. In a world with tens of thousands of gods, your job is to track down the forgotten and stray deities causing trouble in the community and… deal with them. Sometimes that means figuring out how a community can co-exist with the god, and sometimes that means eliminating the god's threat in a more extreme way. Regardless, you are a pawn within an uncaring system, and will eventually be the target of a conspiracy that will try to use your work for its own nefarious purposes."

The Silt Verses RPG has just launched from the acclaimed designers of Brindlewood Bay and The Between!
Investigate stray angels, strange haunts, and murderous cults in a world of gods and sacrifice as a disciple of the Saint Electric, Trawler-man, Watcher in the Wings, Cairn Maiden, Pox Martyr, or the Waxen Scrivener.
Delve into backwoods towns, floating markets where sacred relics are bought and sold, bustling clinics where medical 'miracles' come at a hideous cost - and even a towering skyscraper of conjoined steel, glass, and flesh.
You can purchase a copy over on DriveThruRPG, or at the Silt Verses or The Gauntlet Patreon, netting you the rulebook, 8 Assignments, 6 Faith Sheets, 8 Journey Sheets, and more.
This game really is a labour of love from a small team of innovative indie RPG creators, and already a genuine work of art (so we'd be incredibly grateful for your help in playing, giving feedback, and spreading the word far and wide) - we think it's an absolutely fantastic achievement, and we know The Gauntlet are only going to keep building and improving on the game from here.
You can find out more by joining The Gauntlet Discord.

Given that last (and first) session of our Silt Verses RPG Game ended with us sacrificing my guy only for us to decide we want to play again, I needed to create a new character to play! Her name's Vaani and as one might guess, she's a follower of the Saint Electric 👁️ I'm VERY excited to play her, although i miss Leech and Abe's dynamic terribly, I'm curious to see how Vaani and Abe will get along >:)
[ID: a digital drawing of Vaani, the artists OC. She's a woman with brown skin and long black hair with a bit of grey in a braid. She has a cochlear implant on her right side that has a Saint Electric Prayer-Stamp on it. She's shown from the chest up, facing the right with lightning in the background. /End ID]

I'm playing the Silt Verses RPG with @angryducktimemachine and @dawnwalker and here's the amazing art that @silaaicha did for me of my character Abe Lyman. He's a rat bastard of a man who follows The Watcher in the Wings. He flirted and killed his way through our first game, and gave a monologue so powerful it stayed the hand of another god. He's awful and I love him.
Sadly, Ed's character Leech went off into the woods to appease the god causing problems, so his new character Vaani gets to put up with Abe now. She's going to have her hands full...
[ID: a digital drawing of Abe Lyman, an OC. He's a white man with green eyes and short, curly reddish hair. He has a mustache. He's wearing a long, light green dress shirt with a floral pattern and a long orange scarf. He's giving someone or something the side-eye. /End ID]

Weapon world sequel AU
Specifically a continuation of this post
Tumblr media
Hehe! I made a guy! Also, this is how it went down:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Self-appointed “law enforcement”. And the law is “no fun allowed”.  Mack and Bowyer got into a fight with them for being a huge killjoy and general stick in the mud. Also, you know, the overbearing surveillance. It was happy to take these two agents of chaos down a peg.

I’ve never heard of a fictional species going into musth (probably because unlike other hormonal indispositions of the animal world, it’s pretty un-sexy), but I think it has fictional potential.  From “surprise!  You decided to pick on the soft-spoken vegetarian during Berserker Week” to “why a fantasy RPG verse’s orc-equivalents are Like That.”
Violent dumbfuckery is a temporary indisposition, not a defining attribute of the entire species, but it’s something the culture had to learn to accommodate.  Mostly by the dudes leaving their home communities for the duration of the Stabbing Times to limit the collateral damage to their own people, but this also increases the likelihood of antagonistic encounters with adventurers of other species who don’t recognize the signs that you’ve caught this guy at a bad time.
