Sae nijima

Dating sae can be a bit hard at the beginning, she's not used to showing emotions or vulnerability, so it might seem like she doesn't want to be with you but she actually loves you a lot.

She's incredibly overworked, so she doesn't really have a lot of time for dates but when she does she likes classic dates like going out to dinner or just relaxing inside.

I feel like she's the type to bring you roses or other small romantic things, especially to apologize for having to work when you had a date planned or something similar.

Like I said earlier she works a lot so she'd love it if you did some stuff for her, if she comes home late to a hot dinner and affirmations of love she'll genuinely consider marrying you on the spot.

Sae likes to make you hang out with makoto so you can get to know each other, you and her are the most important people in her life so she'd love it if you two to get along.

Tae takemi

Tae is a great girlfriend she loves you and she'll make sure you know it, she's the complete opposite of sae when it comes to that.

She'll regularly compliment and tease you about literally anything she can think about, she can aomehow turn any conversation topic into a comment about how cute you are.

She also loves physical affection and she'll tease you a lot in that way too, even outside. She's the type to touch your thigh while you're sitting, leave black lipstick marks or hickeys on you to mark you or just randomly hugging you very close to her chest.

She's pretty overworked, too, definitely not at sae's level but there are days when there are more patients than usual so she doehave time to hang out with you but luckily you can just book fake appointments with her to hang out(she doesn't mind)

The good thing about having a doctor as a girlfriend is that she's the best at taking care of you when you're sick, she'll give you all the right medications and other methods she knows will help, the downside is that she'll tease you 10 times more than usual cause you're so vulnerable(she's disappointed she can't kiss you though)

therefore sae only knews as much about you as she saw when passing by your office or meeting you in the hallways or by the coffee machine

however, those few times were enough for her to realize what kind of person you were; a clumsy airhead! 

you always were tripping over things, spilling coffee on you and creating chaos wherever you went

sae rolled her eyes the first few times she watched you trip over things, wondering how you could be so careless

though it didn't take long for her to find exactly those traits endearing about you and fall for you…

it didn't take long for the two of you to start dating and for one of your dates, sae wanted to pick you up from work to have lunch together afterwards

though sae arrived a bit early, deciding to sit down in the audience while your case was still going

and when she did, she was surprised to see how different you were when in court

seeing you like this, speaking confidently and bringing up great points, even having all your documents ready to present… it was like sae was watching a different person! 

she had never seen this side of you before and she was honestly surprised and mystified

she had always pegged you as an airhead who just got by by pure luck, but you actually were far more skilled than she had given you credit for!

Futaba

While Futaba is happy that you enjoy cooking for her, she'll probably never ask you to make curry. There's just something very nostalgic and special about Sojiro's curry. Even if you make it amazingly, it's not the same.

Will happily ask you to make her different things though if you really do want to cook her food.

Honestly, Futaba might bring up the idea of you working at Le Blanc so there's more of a menu besides just various coffee and curry. Then again, that means less time for you to cook for her so she might pout a bit if you consider the offer.

Hifumi

Hifumi really appreciates you cooking for her. I feel like depending on where she's at in her confidant is how she'll react to the cooking itself rather than the gesture. Her mom gives vibes of "you should diet so you look good on TV" before the change of heart.

So, because headcanons, she probably doesn't always eat what you make since she does want to make her mother happy. Until she decides to rebel/her mom's heart is changed and she'll gladly eat your cooking and thank you so much for making such delicious food.

There have been many times when she is deep in being a chuunibyou while practicing Shogi that she forgets to eat so she's very thankful to have you already to make sure she does. Probably asks you to play with her as practice, even if you're not good at it, she still would like a round with the ultimate chef (what she calls you during these matches).

Kawakami

Oh she appreciates your cooking so much. With how busy she is with lesson plans and grading papers and things like that, she doesn't always have time to make a nice lunch or dinner for herself.

Gladly has you in charge of the cooking since you like it so much. She'll take care of cleaning.

Might pout at you or shoo you away if you try to bring her food while she's at school. Yes, it's very cute, but she teaches teenagers that will absolutely tease the crap out of her. Go wait in the teacher's lounge or something, it's okay if the food gets cold. She does not need to hear "ooh's" and "aah's" from the brats in her class.

Sae

She's also one that is pretty busy with her work most days so she doesn't always have the time to make herself a good meal. Makoto usually helps with dinner, but she appreciates when you take over cooking.

Sae will want to return the favor by taking you out somewhere nice. She knows that your cooking is really good, but sometimes it's nice to take a break from cooking and eat at a restaurant together.

If you ever showed up at her work with food then she'll be a bit flustered, but thank you a lot as she takes it from you. Thankfully, with her job, she doesn't have to deal with too many of her coworkers teasing her over the loving gesture so she'll happily take the lunch you made her and kiss your cheek before saying she'll see you at home.

The train car is nearly empty. So your eyes watch the windows- noting the small flashes of light in the tunnel as the subway speeds by. 

  Every couple of seconds, you see one. It lights up your view- just for a moment. But in that moment. You can see your reflection. You can see the reflection of what’s just right beside you too. Even though you've been trying really, really, really hard this entire time not to look at her. But it’s hard. It’s so hard when all you can see, and feel and think about in the empty train is the shoulder pressed next to yours and the head that’s starting to hang dangerously low.

  Must be low enough to rest on your shoulder by now, right-?

  You shake your head and sigh quietly. It’s been a long day for the both of you. That much you can tell. Because even though you both live in the same direction, Nijima doesn’t ever ride the subway with you. Never. And yet, as you were packing up to leave the office after pulling another late night, she asked if she could join you. 

  Of course, she followed it off with an offhand remark about having to take her car into the shop just this morning and how “it still wasn’t done” despite being promised something else when she dropped it off. And of course, your hopes were a little dashed, and your spirit was a little crushed now that you realized that this wasn’t your co-worker attempting to reach out and get to know you. But you aren’t surprised. That’s just how she was.

  Although she’s only a few years older than you, you remember hearing rumors and whispers about her and her work ethic while you were finishing the last of your schooling. Though back then, you didn’t expect that you’d be hired at the Tokyo District Special Investigation Department in the Public Prosecutors Office. And you certainly didn’t expect to be working alongside a giant like in your first couple months after being hired. But one thing you did expect? Her being exactly like her rumors. Harsh and cold yet professional and polished. Ruthless and strict, but ultimately? Something to behold. Something to admire. Something you should aspire to be.

  Though, you know not every shares the same feelings as you do. In fact, your other coworkers would tell you more of the negatives (and only the negatives) in passing. You were still the new here. Still wet behind the ears and a little green with just about everything. But most people had enough trust in you to tell that you wouldn’t go blabbing about any little slipped complaint about Nijima that was dropped here and there. On the way to the bathroom, someone would tell you about how Nijima all but yelled at someone in a conference room. On the way back from the printer, someone would tell you about how Nijima just gave someone else an impossible deadline. 

  You’d just smile and nod- unsure of what to do or what to say as you finish your own assigned work at your cubicle. It’s the same way you’d react when someone would drop another stack of papers on your desk right before you were set to go home. The same way you react when someone asks you very, very nicely if you could do it all and have it done and on their desk before everyone gets in tomorrow morning.

  You shouldn’t be a pushover. You know, you know. You’ve been hearing the same things for the longest time. From your family. From your friends. From your professors. From just about everyone. But if you’re not exactly the best at telling people close to you how you really feel. You’ve never been. And so, nobody gets told off by you for constantly passing their work off to the fresh blood on the block. Nobody gets to hear your rant about how much you hate gossip. But most of all, nobody gets to hear you say how much you don’t want to hear what piece of gossip they have about Nijima this time. Nobody.

  After all, nobody seems to like her in this office. No one, that is, except you.

  The train car is nearly empty. There must have been twelve people in total when you both got on and took the long trek back home. Now it’s just five, including the two of you. They’re barely taking up seats. They’re barely taking up air. But out of all the open spots on this train she chose to sit next to you.

  She chose to sit next to you.

  But not just next to you. She chose to sit shoulder to shoulder. Chose to place her bag in her lap and squish in real close as if it were rush hour. But it’s not. The train car is near empty, and your cheeks warm up at the memory of her sitting down beside you. Embarrassingly so. 

  But Nijima is too busy struggling to keep her eyes open to care. She’s tired. Hell, you’re tired too. You’re not the one whose head is dripping down and down and down. You’re not the one who jerks up every couple of seconds- trying to keep their composure when they ultimately wake up again after dozing off slightly. You’re not the one with the guardrails up. Constantly offering protection when all things- good or evil. 

  But arguably, neither is she right now. 

  The walk to the train station was quiet. But she did talk to you about her sister. And she did talk about a restaurant she thought you might like. And she did ask you what you thought about a big case that was just handled not too long ago. She did all the things your co-workers said she wouldn’t do. She was pleasant. Enjoyable to be around. And she didn’t make everything about work. But most of all? She was being vulnerable.

  Because the Sae Nijima you’re seeing out of the corner of your eye and in the reflection of the train car’s window isn’t the same Sae Nijima that you heard about in your old classmate's rumors. The Sae Nijima you’re sitting shoulder to shoulder with on a train back home isn’t the same Sae Nijima that you hear your new co-workers gossip about. It just isn’t. Rather, it’s a different kind of Sae Nijima. A type of Sae Nijima you selfishly can’t help but want to hide away and keep all to yourself. A secret you don’t want to spread. A secret you don’t want to share. 

  For your sake. But also for hers too.

Because the woman beside you right now? It’s still your co-worker. Still the legendary and infamous Sae Nijima. But it’s a version of her that is silent, but not unwilling as you gently bring your arm up and guide her head to rest on your shoulder. A version of her that only grumbles about making you promise that this never happened. A version of her that ultimately leaned in a little bit closer and closed her eyes.

  A version of her that was willing to do so for the entire rest of the ride.

So, after some thinking... I have decided to add Persona 5 adults to the mix of characters I'll write. I feel like, they're often times overlooked.

-Sae isn't huge on public showcases of affection. She prefers to keep her prosecutor image untouched. Even in private, she isn't huge on physical contact... At first that is. After, some time in the relationship, cuddling becomes a mandatory. It becomes her way to relax at the end of day. And, forehead kisses. She starts to doing them, whenever she walks past you or leaves for work. Easy and quick, reminder for you that she cares.

-She is a workaholic. She will do long days in her office, even at home she will have her laptop open with paperwork near. She will appreciate it, if you bring her coffee, or sit near her while she works. She appreciates the support you offer to her, especially the small things.

-She is supportive of you, no matter how busy she is. She will always make time for you, try at least. If, she can't be there for you in person she will call you or send messages.

NSFW.

-She might not be the most sexually active person. But, she does get into the mood at times. And, when she gets into the mood... You're in it for the long haul. You two will keep at it for hours at times.

-She may never admit it, but she likes to bite you and to be bitten. She relishes the hickies she leaves on you, and those you leave on her. After those nights, she covers her neck even more than usual. Turtlenecks and scarfs are her go to.

Futaba

After spending so many years shut in she’s so curious and want to know so much more about the world that she would love to explore it with you

Whether it’s at an arcade, the game store, or the beach, she can go anywhere as long as it’s with you

She suggests you play another game together, but she purposefully lets you win, letting you know of her answer

A date could involve you doing things together but even being in the same vicinity, reading books at the bookstore or watching the sunset over the park is Hifumi’s idea of a wonderful time

You can try to set the pace of the relationship, but Hifumi as she is when she plays go, can turn the tables at any time to her favor!!

Expect a slow but steady relationship once filled with slow burn

Hifumi, Kawakami, Sae and Takemi Relationship HCs

Note: Reader isn't necessarily aged up for Takemi, Sae and Kawakami because you can date Takemi and Kawakami in the game, but if you're more comfortable aging up the reader, than go ahead.

Hifumi Togo

When you guys first meet, she's a little wary of you

But once you start seeing her more often, she comes to trust you

You spend most of your time at the church playing shogi with her

If you don't know how to play, she gladly teaches you

She honestly has fun teaching you but don't tell anyone

She gets embarrassed when she takes the game seriously, and blushes when you tell her how adorable she is

She starts to like you after a month of seeing each other

But you'll have to wait until her mother's heart is changed before you can date her

If you're a Phantom Thief and had a hand in changing her heart (and if you decide to tell her) she is shocked, but very grateful

After that, she confesses to you

In the beginning of the relationship, she tries to act like a "normal" girl, but once you assure her that she can be herself, she'll reveal herself to be a huge dork

Doesn't mind if you don't go to church with her. She'll appreciate it if you do, but will understand if you don't

Whenever you two aren't playing Shogi together, she loves to go on walks or hang out in parks

Not into PDA, but really likes to cuddle in private. If she's feeling it, she'll even hold your hand while you walk together

Sadayo Kawakami

What your relationship looks like depends on whether or not the reader is aged up

You can literally date her in the game don't come for me

If you aren't, she is SO ashamed to have a crush on you

You're her student, for god's sake!

She will take this to her grave, you'll have to confess first

Probably not gonna happen, but on the off chance you DO confess, she is very flustered

But will agree as long as it's kept secret

If you are aged up, she is a little embarrassed, but doesn't feel bad about it

She is shy when confessing to you, but is very happy when you accept her affections

Loves to wear her maid outfit to tease you

If it's before you max out her social link, she will be tired a lot and want you to hold her

If you start dating after you max it, she loves to take walks with you and tell you about her students

If you're aged up, she will come to you about lesson plans and ask for your advice and how to get the students' attention

Loves it when you massage her shoulders and back after a long day

Ends up relying on you quite a lot, but she assures you that you can rely on her as well

Doesn't mind PDA, loves to hold your hand when you walk together

If you're not aged up, she is very awkward

She is more lenient on you than other students and will call teachers to the office to give you some free time

Will gladly help you with any work she or another teacher assigns you

PDA is a HELL NO if you're a student

Sae Niijima

She met you through Makoto

She's so glad that Makoto has a good friend like you, especially with how busy she is

Eventually realizes that she wants you for herself (not in a yandere way)

She'll never be the one to confess though. It has to be you

Once you do confess, she is caught off guard but gladly accepts

Because of how busy she is, you don't get to see each other as often as you would like

Whenever she does get time off, she often wants to do something that involves both you and Makoto, because she doesn't get to spend a lot of time with her sister either

Sae presents herself as a strong and independent individual, so you'll have to remind her that it's ok to be vulnerable with you

That honestly takes a huge weight off her shoulders

In return, she is very supportive towards you as well, offering you advice and comfort when you need it

As a prosecutor, she is always impartial and unbiased, so she gives great advice

She's a little bit awkward about physical comfort, but she'll do it for you

Anything for her love

Sae is very touch starved, as she is always very busy with work, so she loves cuddling and being held by you

Not into PDA, when you get a chance to go out, and if you do, it'll be to a chill place like a cafe or a park

Makoto means a lot to Sae, so she definitely plays a big part in your relationship

Makoto really likes you btw, she sees you like a second sibling

Tae Takemi

This relationship will be a bit different depending on whether or not her social link is maxed

Before, she won't be around a lot and she'll be a little grumpy about things that happened at her job

Post maxed link, she'll be happier and more energetic, but she still won't see you very much due to continuing her focus on helping others

Either way, she'll need you to be there for her

She needs a shoulder to cry on and someone to vent to about her stress and worries about patients, medicines, etc.

She can't disclose patient records, but she will tell you her worries about a type of medicine or a healing process or procedure

She'll relax once you hug her though

Definitely a little touch starved, so she really likes it when you hold her hand or hug her

Note(s): I made this more general with S/O listening to their favorite song just so it's more of a reader insert than being too specific. I did have S/O listening to a song in English though since I think that'd be fun.

Iwai

Kaoru has listened to some songs in English a bit so he's listened to it. And he knows a tiny bit of English thanks to his time in the Yakuza, but that doesn't mean he completely understands what's being said.

He's in another room when he hears your voice. At first, he thinks you're calling out to him, but then he goes to check on you and finds you're singing along to whatever song you're listening to.

Iwai can't help a chuckle at your singing. It's good, but it's also such a cute thing to catch you doing. Might walk by to pat you on the head before going back to whatever he was doing.

Maruki

Doesn't listen to English music that often, but he does enjoy the beat and the singer that you're listening to. Can't help a smile as you're singing along too.

He's not the most knowledgeable when it comes to music, but he does think you're really good at singing. He'll compliment you later because he doesn't want to interrupt and embarrass you or anything.

Probably ends up adding whatever song you're singing to his own playlist. He might not know what the lyrics mean, but the song seems to make you happy and that's good enough for him.

Sae

She knows a good bit of English and has hummed to herself a few times while a song had been playing in the background. So she doesn't mind when you're playing your music. It's different from what she's used to, but she listens to it and likes what she hears.

And then she hears you singing along while she's organizing her files and notes for a new case. Sae can't help a smile at how happy you are and she's glad that you're a good singer.

"Mind turning it down a bit, love?" She'd ask you softly. She's happy that you're happily singing, but she is pretty busy most of the time even when she's at home. She'll ask you to sing to her another time to make up for it.

Yoshida

He's recognized some of the words and lyrics in some of your music before. It's not quite his kind of music, but he does enjoy it and how happy you seem.

He's putting together his own notes one day and he hears your music and your voice in the background. It's a nice comforting noise before he realizes that you aren't talking on a phone, you're singing.

"You sound great, my heart," Yoshida would say and give you a bright smile before going back to his work. Even if you weren't a good singer, he'd still compliment you.

You guys usually either go on dates to cafes or to the underground mall

Sometimes she even brings you to her photo shoots

If you're shy and hesitant to go, she will beg you, giving you puppy dog eyes and talking about how much she wants to show you off until you give in and say yes

She won't force you though, if you really don't want to go

She'll be disappointed, but she'll understand

Affection. For. DAYS

There is rarely a moment where this girl isn't touching you; (not like that you nasties-) holding hands, hugging you, kissing you, etc.

She's not super overpowering in public, just holding your hand or hugging you. Doesn't want to make you overwhelmed

But in private? This girl is ALL over you

After you guys started talking again, you rekindled your friendship

You were a little disturbed and concerned about her posing as Kasumi, but you never mentioned it
