Hello, @nyx-de-riva I saw your post and am considering myself tagged (I really liked your sample 💖)

So here's mine from my wip aptly named "First time". You know how Rook can say in game that Emmrich is his first? I apparently needed to write a whole thing about their first lovemaking session. It's from Emmrich's pov and they're enjoying themselves a lot.

“Want you to fuck me,” he whispered against Emmrich’s lips. Oh. Rook was not one to ask for things where matters of intimacy were concerned, he seemed too embarrassed. Unless he was very desperate for it. And there went all his planning. There was very little of it anyway, so it likely did not matter overmuch. Bur he just couldn’t refuse him when he asked like that, breathy and eager and needy for him.

"You disappeared Dearest… Each hour would have been another hour I lost, another I couldn't find-" Emmrich paused momentarily, taking a second to compose himself. " I couldn't allow that to happen."

"Em-"

"No." The necromancer stated, frustration lacing his tone and negating any effort he made to stay composed. "Any second wasted, was to be another second you were suffering; another you were trapped in- How could you dare say I should have rested more?"

Emmrich stopped in his tracks, cut off by a noise that was best described as a mixture of heartbroken sob & a pathetic laugh in spite of himself. "Even with all that… all the meals skipped… nights of sleep missed," Emmrich's hand reached up, covering part of his face as the tips of his hair splayed out between his digits. "Spirits Az… I still wasn't fast enough."

thanks for the tag @thatgaymerguyb. I've been working on 4 consecutive chapters of beneath the stone fruit trees at once that were originally meant to be 2, so here's a little bit of the first

Tiles swirl in ornate patterns beneath her feet. Akin to the patterns of constellations, the patio makes her think of nights spent laying out in the grass as the sea air from the other side of Rialto Bay washed over her. Eyes never left the stars on those nights, transfixed by the sheer volume of the universe. A vastness that surrounds her to this day and what a small fixture she remains in its confines Perhaps, there is another time and point in the universe where she would have found herself happier sooner. Safe and sound and not weighed down by history that had already been documented in ink. What a life she would have led in those daydreams written solely in her mind in the grasses of Rivain, but would it compare to the life she has managed to build despite tragedy around every corner? Doubtful, she decides and perishes the thought of landing anywhere else. However a small innately romantic part of her wishes for souls to be connected by invisible threads that will pull them together no matter how the tale unravels.

A hand rests on her back. Glimmering crystal makes its way into her periferal. “The bartender did not wish to part with this,” Lucanis tells her softly as he places the glass into her grasp. The liquid inside is a pale amber that reflects the dancing lights above her. “A Rivaini malt liquor of some sort.” He presses a kiss to her temple. “I know you prefer liquor to wine.”

It is true. She always has. Wine is an inefficient way to forget your troubled past. Liquor does the trick far quicker and with less headaches to deal with during mornings after. And of course, she is partial to those sourced from Rivain in particular. “Did you have to threaten them with a swift brutal death?” she wonders with a hum against the rim of her glass. “Costs of imported goods have increased in the last few years.” Less bodies to work. Less land to grow. Not to mention all that has happened in the South. Products from other lands in Thedas have indeed steadily climbed in the years since the risen gods fell. “I’m assuming you pay an arm and a leg to your black market pomegranate guy.”

There is a whisper of a grin that crossed his lips then, melting through the steely mask he donned in public settings. Teia poking fun at him worrying about everyone finding out that the Demon of Vyrantium having a big soft heart makes much more sense in a place like this than it had at the Lighthouse. “Beni does no dealings with any sort of black market, amor,” he tuts. “He has mentioned that shipments from Orlais have been limited recently, though.”

Leaning back into his touch, she takes a sip of the bartered-over Rivani malt. The smile that had been lingering on her face quirks as the liquid rolls down her throat. Pungent and metallic. Like a copper sheet that was used to sweep a chimney. Her eye twitches. “Oh, my love,” she coughs, nose pinched in displeasure. “Oh, it’s awful.” A shiver runs down from her neck to her knees. “I fear I’m going to have to consume the entire bottle.” This elicits a real unreserved laugh from Lucanis. His eyes crease at the corners, and heat floods her cheeks.

Third Sapphic Sunday: Emily/Mao

Another Pink&Orange wlw ship. These two were the first wlw ship i ever drew for the fandom over a year ago in november. (I need to do a redraw of that. i drew that piece traditionally scanned it and then manually lined it with a mouse in Sai. and my art is better now)

CONCERTI PLEASEEEEE the one (1) piece(s) of classical music i can name is vivaldi's four seasons violin concertis (concertos?) and they are my favorites i listen to them so often they are wired into my brain. and i STILL can't tell the seasons apart because i am immune to telling apart instruments :) but anyway really would love to see your list ALSO please please ramble on about topics of your choice that's one of my favorite things you do!!

for violin concerti i have to give it up to brahms. i wasn't much of a brahms vln cto guy until i had to do it twice in orchestra in two years and then it grew on me. but also i'm an oboist and i'm biased because the middle movement is practically an oboe concerto as much as it is a violin concerto. anyway i also like tchaikovsky's violin concerto, mendelssohn's, and mozart no. 3. it will probably be more fruitful to ask a violinist for more suggestions because i don't listen to these very much but i know i have violin player mutuals so i'm calling on them to drop in the comments lol

PIANO CONCERTI. this is the other instrument that has like one million concerti out there. some of my favorites are beethoven 5 "emperor", tchaikovsky 1, and gershwin concerto in f :) (loooove the gershwin concerto). rhapsody in blue is sort of concerto like but it's not strictly a concerto i think. also shoutout to the ravel left hand piano concerto -- a very unique piece! he wrote it for a piano player who lost his right hand in world war i.

Lower strings - stamitz viola concerto! enough viola jokes, society has moved past the need for mean spirited viola jokes, it's a good instrument and this concerto is great. dvorak and saint-saens's cello concertos are about as standard and great as the come, but i think elgar is also great (even though it's not a style i usually prefer!). and as for bass, there's basically nothing as iconic as the bottesini concerto.

winds - i love me a good clarinet concerto. mozart's clarinet concerto (which was actually originally written for basset clarinet, an old type of clarinet with a slightly lower range and mellow tone) is classic and wonderful, but so are weber's clarinet concerti (i like no. 2!). the mercadante flute concerto is a lovely piece, i don't think it gets played that often but it's great. and the ferdinand david concertino for trombone!! really great. there are admittedly a lot of great concertos out there for horn, trumpet, bassoon, flute, etc. that i just don't know (sometimes i hear them on the radio but i don't catch the composer or work title)...but there's a lot out there, you can really just poke around until you find stuff you like

oboe - yes of course this gets its own section. you have asked an oboist for her choice of concertos. i am so biased here it's not funny. Anyway let's go chronological shall we. Starting with the marcello concerto. i think it usually gets played in d minor but i play it in c minor. do NOT @ me. next up is the mozart concerto which is pretty much just flat out required for every oboist to know if they want to do ANYTHING remotely professional in the world of oboe performance, it is THE standard rep for us. also do not @ me about not including the mozart flute concerto earlier because THAT'S THE SAME PIECE!! the flute concerto is just oboe concerto transposed up a step. LAME! anyway moving on. josef fiala is a kind of little known classical composer who has a few oboe concertos, i'm a fan of basically all of them. then there's my FAVE the kalliwoda concertino in f, it's so good, i played it for my senior recital. then getting into the 20th century there's the vaughan williams concerto which...i go back and forth on how i feel about it. it's lovely to listen to but it kicked my ass when i tried to learn it and i gave up on movement ii. also this isn't oboe but it's english horn which is like oboe's big brother, donizetti has an english horn concertino which i really like too, although finding out that it's disputed whether it should be in F or in G rocked my world (especially after i had gotten used to playing it in G and then tried it once in F and it broke my brain. i can't accept that it might be better in F...i can't...)

and then some WILD CARDS that i want to shout out because they're fun. the first two are double concertos: the mozart flute and harp concerto! and the fiala english horn and clarinet concerto! i think this combo is so weird and unique and great, i would LOVE to play this some day though i doubt that will ever happen.

you've heard of double concertos well now get ready for QUADRUPLE concerto. vivaldi wrote a concerto for four violins in b minor and it kind of rules. bach also arranged this for four harpsichords in a minor so you might also find that version. it took me forever to figure out who actually wrote the damn piece because i'd heard it both ways in multiple places

penultimate mention goes to the grunge oboe concerto, which attempts to answer the age old question, what if oboe music was emo/metal music. and then the final mention goes to this guy's specific performance of a vivaldi recorder concerto

Not me balancing my work with rest all throughout my contract, only to attempt 12h workdays on the last week because our PCR machine broke down and only the 8am and 6pm shifts were open on the other one. I lasted 1.5 days before my brain became mush lmao. I offered my shift to a struggling PhD student, went home and passed the fuck out. So now I'm working saturday 🥴

I am so fucking mad. I have to work this whole weekend, and most of my family is at the shore bc that is usually what we do on summer holiday weekends. Originally, I was off Sunday, but I picked up a shift from my cousins boyfriend bc he's nice, and I figured I was going to be here anyway. Plus, he was the 9-3 shift, which meant I got to leave early (probably even before 3). My dad is the only person who stays home bc he doesn't like the beach, but then he basically BLEW ME OFF FOR THE WHOLE WEEKEND. He has something tomorrow, had dinner plans tonight, and made plans yesterday, too!! AND THEN!!!! This girl I work with came in when I was leaving work tonight and DID EVERYTHING I WAS SUPPSOED TO DO TOMORROW!!! We're open 11-5 on sundays, so I was coming in 2 hours early to do a bunch of stuff, and she just....fucking did it!!! AND THEN!!! Instead of telling me not to come in (we were both supposed to work tomorrow), they told her not to and gave me her shift!!!! Like!!! Just messaged me like "natasha loaded the other kiln today, so can u do 11-5 tomorrow? We called her off" GO FUCK YOURSELF!!!! I picked up this shift out of the kindness of my heart with the intention of leaving early!! It will be my 8th day working in a row!! I hate everyone I'm gonna throw something
