just had the frequent (but always interesting) experience of watching a guy (online) start joking serial-killer style about finding me/my house after disclosing that i'm a sex worker. a guy who is apparently a lifelong anarchist! the other unfortunately-familiar part of the whole thing is someone else chiming in to say 'i've never seen him act like that before'.

i wish i knew the source but i read something some years ago talking about how indigenous women are 'canaries in the coal mine' when talking about the general standard for human rights/dignity in canada. i think there's something similar with sex workers and i think it meshes neatly with my current understanding of the function of transmisogyny as well. disposability being the extremely grim common thread and a critical component of (always-racist always-colonial) swerf/terf logic.

probably i should write something coherent about this because i don't think this is the first time i've made this point.

I talk about the fact that we are looking for love, we're looking for a sense of significance and ach -ievement that my life matters, we are looking for a certain beauty. So we have lots of ways of describing it, of course a very famous passage in Saint Augustine's confession puts the ultimate Christian answer to the question, in a classic way.

This is from the Confessions Book 10, he is talking to GOD now, it's a prayer: What do I love, when I love THEE?

Not beauty of bodies, nor the fair harmony of time, nor the brightness of the light so gladsome to our eyes, or sweet melodies of varied songs, or the fragrant smells of flowers, not limbs acceptable to the embraces of the flesh.

None of these I love when I love my GOD, and yet, I love a kind of light and melody and fragrance, a kind of meet/embracing. When I love GOD, there shineth unto my soul, what space cannot contain, there soundeth what time can't beareth not away, there smells that breathing disperses not — there tastes that eating diminishes not, and there clings what satiation & divorces not.

This is that which I love, when I love my GOD.

I know I’ve posted a lot today but I wanted to share that my mind is being plagued with bestfriend!alpha!eddie who fucks you to get you through your heats. You were so scared when you first presented, thinking you were coming down with an illness after developing a fever you couldn’t break.

Eddie, being your knight in shining armor, came to your aide with food and movies to keep you entertained until you got better. He barely made it into your house before he fell to his knees. He had presented as an alpha two years before, but hadnt been with an omega at all since then.
