☘Collecting Dew💦

This is an intoxicating practice I do quite often. In the foggy mornings it feels like you might be the only one awake, and the earth is paying attention to you. It is a conversation.

materials:

a small, clean and absorbent cloth

a clean bowl, preferably wood or glass

Clothes you can get sorta yucky

An intention associated with dew collection

A vessel for your finished product

uses for dew

Fae offerings 💫

Glamours for purity or beauty 🌹

Friendship/love spells 🌻

Scrying or moon water 🌕

Spirit work spells 💀

Offerings for deities that you feel might jive with it 💌

Beauty products that have water in the ingredient list 💄

wake up early, 5-6:30am. Have some water and dress warmly. Go outside and take a deep breath, notice your surroundings and the sounds going on around you. Kneel down and feel the wet grass and the earth beneath you. Begin the conversation.

Take your cloth and begin dabbing it in the grass, keeping your intention in mind, collecting up the dew, and wring it out in your bowl. When you have the desired amount dab up some more and wring it out back unto the earth and thank her for her gift.

Go back inside and strain/boil your water if there is a lot of debris in it or if you use chemicals in your yard. Despite the general purity of dew this is a precautionary measure that I would reccomend. Pour it into your vessel and hold it in your hands, meditating on your intention and allowing it to be held inside, seeping into every atom of water.

I use dew water for beauty and peace. Taking a clean makeup pad i use just for dew or a wash cloth and massage it onto your face as something to incorporate into your skincare routine. I have also rinsed my hair with it, and just poured it all over myself before or after a bath. Because it makes me feel like a fairy.🧚🏼‍♀️

This is also potentially a good way to test out and practice your scrying skills!

TIMING SUGGESTION: New or Full Moon (new if you’re starting out on something, Full if you need a power boost), Friday for questions of love, Sunday for questions about work/vocation, Wednesday for questions about money

YOU NEED:

Fire proof cast iron skillet

Water

Herbs associated with your question (roses and jasmine for sex and love, mint for money)

Candle corresponding to your questions (there a billion and one color correspondence guides on this website)

Paper and marker

DO THIS : Set up your chair so you can comfortably sit for a long period of time. You’ll also want to make sure you’re in a place that you won’t be disturbed for a long time, at least 30 min but really an hour. 

Set up the candle so it stands behind the water filled cast iron skillet. The candle’s flame should reflect upon the water. 

Write your yes or no question on a piece of paper. “Should I marry Cole?” “Should I become mistress of all evil?” “Should I go on the snag the hottest dude in the whole show?” 

Darken the room that you’re working in. Like you want it to be daaaark and light the candle so it’s the only source of light in the room. 

Pick up the herbs and meditate on the question. When the question is loudest in your mind gently scatter the herbs over the water. 

Now roll up the paper with the question written on it and say: 

My love is strong, my spirit weak

It is an answer that I seek

A question burns within this fire

So I may hear my hearts desire

(For questions about work substitute ‘love’ for ‘mind’  or ‘will’)

Let the fire burn for a few moments and then drop it into the water filled cast iron skillet.

Sit and gaze into the water. Relax your eyes and focus on the flicker of the flame in the reflection, let your eyelids fall to half close and allow your consciousness to drift into a trance state. To reach this, I like to focus on the darkness and light and let it fill my mind and rock slightly back and forth. Eventually images will form in your mind or on the water. Don’t be judgmental or try to interpret them, hold gently and let them come and go, like you’re holding a live bird. This can take some time, sometimes up to a full hour. It’s also a skill, you’ll get better the more that you practice. 

When done, turn on the lights, blow out the candle, dump the water and oil your cast iron so it doesn’t rust! Write down everything you saw, heard, smelled, tasted, or felt without judgement, THEN INTERPRET!

Scrying bowls In some cultures it is device to see beyond the veil, into different worlds, in others as it is a way to predict the future. My practice has for many years now involved a few different approaches. As an example this altar layout for scrying includes: An Icelandic rune charm to gain hidden knowledge from the universe. Mirror and scrying bowl, labradorite and kyanite. Dried dandelion root and a yew twig from the grove back in England. Palo santo and a candle to help focus.
