i know s7 is effectively a chess board in which tim minear is moving all of his pieces right where he wants them so he can get Back To Business™ in s8 but oh what i would give right now for an episode a la stuck or pinned or future tense with 3-4 low stakes calls that all somehow tie in with the name of the ep and link thematically with the main characters' individual plot lines

finished spn s9! two thoughts. one, that everyone who said i would want to kill the writers is absolutely right, absolutely fucking insane how much they make sam suffer and make dean worse. two, loved that season, insane how much they make sam suffer and make dean worse. shows gone totally off the rails but im so on board. we are so back. most enjoyable season since s5. well i liked s7 too but that was only because of sams arc

I was in the fandom of a show that had the main couple go back and forth for EIGHT of the TEN seasons it was on. It was a hot mess because while they were a popular ship, they were awful together.

In season 8, we thought it was going to be the point where they finally had a mature break up, say how they'll be good friends, that they finally outgrew each other and then move on, so that he could finally move on to who he is meant to be with.

Instead, the writers put them together yet again for a 4 episode arc, and then made it so that they couldn't be together anymore because she became literal POISON to him. Like he couldn't go near her otherwise he'd die.

So not only was it a disservice to the woman he was meant to be with, people argued that she was 'second choice' to who he wanted to really be with... but a disservice to the main ship who never got the proper closure and a disservice to Clark who never got to end things on his own terms.

All this to say, is this better or worse than what LS pulled? 😂 Because I don't think I'm as nearly upset about LS as I, and many others, were about the crap that show pulled.

Anyway, yadda yadda yadda, my fave tv shows were/are hot messes, but what are you going to do, eh?

I'm so tired of people trying to defend three hour movies when people complain. Listen, sure, stories are different, and should take different lengths to be told.

My problem is that all stories now have to be told in three hours. All of them. This is the new industry standard, everything is three hours long. You go to the cinema and sit for three hours in a dark room to watch a movie. Go home and binge a three hours long season of a tv show.

I'm tired of it. If you want to tell a wee little fun horror story in 80min, no can do sweetheart, studios now only want big movies, better make it 3h.

Want to make a 10 ep long TV show with one hour long episodes? No you don't, make it 6 eps long and only half an hour an episode.

Want to make a fun serial that runs weekly for months, you better forget it.

I'm tired of the three hour long industry standard.
