I‘m not sure if this has been mentioned before, but on the speculation of Lenore‘s spectre: what if it‘s something related to a phoenix.

I mean apart from her always defying the odds and doing the extraordinary~, she also represents hope (like a phoenix does). Not only for Annabelle as being the one who gets them out of the academy and into a new life but also for the misfits. Especially in the beginning when they were all spectreless and saw how she didn’t need that and flocked to her.

Furthermore how in her actual life she has „come back from the dead“ ashes two times already. First after her accident in the storm, she was basically dead to society (and her family). And then over the months she managed to come back again (through Annabelle). And secondly when she apparently died in the fire of the house, and then returned as Leo Vandernacht. So basically first her social/psychological part died and then her physical part.

Again, idk if this has been said before, I just think this theory is neat.

There’s something to be said about the difference in Bruce and Dick and why they put on the mask.

Bruce believes Batman is his true self. That Batman is who he needs to be, what he needs to be to save everyone. Batman is all his dirty tricks, all his dark desires, all his deepest secrets laid out for the underground to take note of and fear. Bruce has stated on numerous occasions that Bruce Wayne needs to die in order for Batman to live.

Dick believes that Nightwing is the best parts of him. Nightwing is the cheer, the light at the end of the tunnel. Nightwing is what Dick wants to be. Nightwing is the silly quips and the cool gadgets and the parts of Dick he holds on to out of fear of what would happen if he lost them. He sees Nightwing as a hero, something he gets to be and a tool he can use to help the betterment of the world.

They both desperately need their alter egos, just to be able to stay whole, but Batman’s mask is Bruce Wayne, and Dick’s mask is Nightwing.
