Drew Sensor Girl II in MS Paint My idea for Sensor Girl II is that she is a descendant of the superman family. Like Laurel, She doesn’t have all the powers that Superman has. Sensor Girl II instead only has supersenses. Maybe including superbreath, freezebreath and laser vision but I am less sure on those also unfortunately my only idea for a costume is a palette swapped costume of Jeckie

So, I just discovered you so if I ask for something you've seen before, uh, oops, but I have to ask you to take a look at my favorite tank from the world of Battletech, the Manticore! https://www.sarna.net/wiki/Manticore

Hey, I remember these from when I was playing MechWarrior 5!

Even a thousand years into the future, tanks are still awesome. This is proven very clearly by the mere existence of the Manticore in a world where 'mechs are stomping all over the place.

I'm not sure what it's based on but it sure is BASED.

With a surprising (for it's size) weight of only 60 tons and a top speed of 40 mph (65 km/h), she's quite a mobile platform. Power plant is a nuclear reactor, but I'm willing to give it's safety a pass because it's a futuristic fusion reactor.

These are equipped with a type of armor called "ArcShield Maxi II" as standard. I'm not too sure what that is but I do remember these being pretty resilient when I was fighting them.

This big girl is armed to the TEETH. Her primary armament is a Particle Projector Cannon, which has a fairly long range along with the added benefit of interfering with the targeting systems of anything it hits. This is backed up by a set of both long and short ranged missile racks, and topped of with a medium power laser for targets at closer ranges.

Targets are identified and tracked by a robust sensor suite that links into the FCS. However, the only analog backups I can see are a set of large windows set into the hull.

Her crew compliment is a respectable four, with what I assume is plenty of space inside.

She may lack tow hooks; but she has maintenance access panels, sensors, additional armor panels, hatches, and heat vents aplenty.

Speaking of heat she's got a total of 13 single heat sinks to keep her reactor and armaments cool.

The two Leopard Class drop ships broke past the atmospheric friction and heat and into the skies of Helios proper. Already charcoal black, the searing and flames only darkening the crimson patches of each to a rusty bloody red. Had anyone been able to see it, they would have found that fitting.

The aerospace fighters had given them a path to the planet, the rest was up to the drop ship pilots. The Dando and Churchyard plummeted towards their objective, ignoring or weaving between the scattered flak and lasers from the neighboring AAA batteries. Like two black hammers, they descended with grim purpose towards the small city below.

They'd punch down, bloody the Word, and see if they can't clear space for the Fursona's Fusiliers dropships flying with them.

Simple.

Suicidal.

Perfect for Barghest Company.

Commander Owen felt each jump and judder of near misses through the drop ships hull and the body of his mech, the Marauder II swaying and shaking in its restraints. Across from him was the angular visage of Victoria’s Axman, Vance’s Thug and Anya’s Thunderbolt occupying the neighboring berths. In the upper corner of his cockpit, a timer counts down the minutes until they drop.

Another close by boom rattled the drop ship.

Owen keys open the Barghest Company channel. 

“Alright boys and girls, are you ready?”

Drop: 09:00

Seven voices reply with “Yes Sir.”

“Can’t hear you Machwarriors!”

Drop: 08:00

“Yes sir!”

“COME ON, YOU CALL THAT A YES?!”

Drop: 07:00

“YES SIR!” the seven voices scream.

The light in the Mechbay turns red. 

Drop: 06:00

“That’s more like it! And who are we?” He shouts, something bordering excitement creeping into his voice, predatory and keen.

“BARGHEST COMPANY!”

Drop: 05:00

“Damn right we are! And we are going to go down there, sink our teeth into their flesh, and DRAG THEM ALL TO HELL!”

“DRAG THEM ALL TO HELL!”

Drop: 04:00

The doors of the drop ships begin to open with the whine of machinery. The familiar voice comes over the internal speakers, as his mech powers on.

Reactor, Online.

Drop: 03:00

The drop ships slow, the dull bangs and thuds of small arms fire ringing off the hull. The plan had been to drop fast, and get below the arcs of the other AAA emplacements to drop the two lances and then provide close air support as fuel allowed, before braving the trip back to orbit or more likely, linking up with other elements of Touchdown for refueling and rearming. The Blakests below had other ideas, and were mustering everything they could to deal with the new threat of two Leopard drop ships landing in their midst.

Sensores, Online.

Drop: 02:00

A series of rumbling booms signals the drop ships returning fire with LRMS, PPCS, and Lasers. The first rack of LRM rounds are live warheads, ripping apart light tanks and fixed positions in storms of shrapnel and fire. PPC bolts snap out with thunder cracks to strike down heavier vehicles, Large and Medium lasers lancing out to spear clumps of infantry, or rake across those in cover in buildings. The second reload of LRM's are smoke, obscuring the streets and buildings around the landing sites.

Weapons, Online.

Drop: 01:00

His mech rotates, along with the others of his lance, to face to now open door, beyond a hell of swirling smoke, tracer fire and lasers snap and stitch through the air.

All systems nominal.

Drop: 00:00

Owen tilts his head back and howls over the comms, the seven other members of Barghest Company following suit, their radio distorted voices forming a nightmarish call worthy of their namesake, blasted over every available enemy comm line.

Owen slams his controls forward, moving the 100 ton assault mech into motion, and out into the firefight, his seven other mechwarriors following. Dropping the short distance between the ramp and the street below with an earthshaking thud, the two lances immediately moved away from their dropships. The ramps were already closing as the craft start to lift off, volleys of LRMs and laser fire snapping out at targets the mechwarriors couldn't yet see.

The city was a small one, by Inner Sphere standards, but still had plenty of buildings taller than most mechs. It would be a tough fight, city fights always were for mechs, but at least they couldn't bring superior numbers to bear fully just yet. There were reports of enemy Marauders and fixed positions, and rumbling of even a superheavy in the area, plus the Heavy Level II's and any reinforcements the Word sent their way to push them off the dropsite.

A voice came over the Barghest Company comms line, one of the dropship pilots.

"Enemy resistance is light for now, Commander, but we're getting at least a dozen reactor signatures closing rapidly. We'll circle the site and provide air support as we can until the Fusiliers get more boots on the ground. Good luck and good hunting Commander."

In response, Owen raised the right arm of his mech, saluting them as they lifted off.

"Good hunting, flyboys."

"Commander, we've got contacts." It was Maria, he could already hear the thrum of her ER Large Lasers as she engaged a target over the comms. "One Level II, two Assaults, one Heavy, one Medium and one Light."

A pause.

"Make that two Level II's, one closing on your position."

The familiar feral grin split Owen's face. This was it, what he was born for, what his mother raised him to be.

"Garm Lance, form up, we've got guests. Let's show them how we do it in Barghest Company."

Three acknowledgement pings come over his comms as the lance moves forward, clearing the immediate LZ for the rapidly approaching Fursona's Fusiliers dropships.

Drop: -05:00

The first enemy mech to die was a Tempest, cockpit spit open by Victoria’s Axman’s hatchet as she lurched from out of the smoke and flame of the wrecked tanks and buildings around the LZ.

"That one was for Mary, you bastards!" She yelled over the comms.

Owen smiled, and laughing over the open comms for the enemy to hear, bringing his twin ER PPCs to bear against a Legacy before it had tome to bring its autocannons to life, feeling the heat spike in his cockpit despite the double heat sinks installed in his mech as the bolts punched through cockpit and pilot with equal ease. Oh what he wouldn’t give to have Katie here for this.

To his left Vance was delivering point blank SRM volleys into the side and back of a Blakist Thug, rippling explosions tearing the side and rear armor of the enemy mech to pieces before the reactor is breached with a dull KRUMP.

"Be at peace, brother." Vance murmered.

Anya's Thunderbolt released another volley of Clan LRMs, and pulse after pulse of laser fire into a Crab, and Mongoose. The Mongoose falls first, unable to withstand the onslaught of LRMs and lasers. The Crab takes longer, large lasers slicing and melting several chunks of armor before being rocked to the side by the impact of a LB-X/20 round. Staggering, the medium mech only just rights itself in time for the combined fire from Anya and Victoria shred the smaller machine.

"Thanks for the assist, Vic." Anya says.

"No worries, gotta get the blushing bride home in one piece, eh?" Chuckles Victoria.

In the next square over, a former parking lot for a now burning warehouse, Maria's Mad Cat, Elenor's Crab, Bill "Billy"'s Archer, and Kei's Stalker gun down the remnants of the first QRF Level II's that engaged them. The last to fall was a Perseus, cored completely by large laser and missile fire.

So far, damage was minimal, with the worst being a faulty leg joint in Vance's Thug, the result of the now burning Word Thug's own SRMs and PPCs. Not bad for a first engagement.

"Good work Barghest Company, we are touching down now and will deploy mechs shortly." It was one of the Fusiliers dropship pilots. "We've got more pings in the city, routing to you and your dropships."

Owen's minimap flashed as new dots peppered it. That was a lot of red to the as of now very little blue. He watched as the two icons indicating the Dando and Churchyard circled the area immediatly surrounding the LZ, and some of the red dots, although not nearly enough for his liking, winked out.

"Oh boy...Barghest company, eyes up, here comes the real fun. Black Dog Lance, form up behind Garm Lance, prepare for volley LRM fire on designated targets. The rest of you, I want at least two mechs for each target. The faster we kill them the faster this ends."

"Let's hunt."

Chapter One: Frostbitten Loyalties

CHAPTER ONE:

Frostbitten Loyalties

Snow. The frozen microcrystals coated the landscape like a blanket over a bed. It was just as beautiful as it was dangerous, easy to get lost in its beauty when the lines that separated the horizon from the sky were washed away by the pure white powdery crystals. It was nothing new to him. A clone Corporal that had been specially trained for cold climates and high altitudes, hence, the name he chose; Polar. 

“Corporal? Sir? Are you there?” His comm link rang out.

“Oh, Um, Yes-” Polar stammered, “Yes I'm here, Butch… What is it?”

“You missed your check in… That's all, Sir.” The Clone named Butch replied. He was a stickler for protocol and orders, making sure to follow them exactly how they were supposed to be done. 

Polar found it a little annoying, but endearing at the same time. “All good, trooper. I was just thinking, that's all.” He said before going quiet on his end again, staring back at the landscape. Rico, another member of his team, teased Butch about calling the Corporal out like that, since it had only been barely a minute since the check time passed. Butch was still a shiny, so doing things by the book was how he'd been trained. Polar listened to them go back and forth about things before finally stepping in. 

“Girls, Girls! You're both pretty, Now cut the chit-chat on the main comms.”

“Yes, sir.” was heard from both of the bickering troopers after the other.

Polar stood on the outskirts of the base after checking the motion sensors and cleaning the icicles off of them. He looked up at the mountains, his eyes tracing the peaks and valleys. He started making his way back to the base, the cold was just now starting to get to him after hours of being out there. His phase I armor was the cause of that. It had built in life support and temperature regulation, unlike the new phase II armors, which were more cheaply made to be lighter and easily mass-produced. 

The durasteel blast door creaked as it slid open, then closed it behind, as the cold Corporal came into the bay to warm up before going up to the control bridge with the rest of the crew. As his helmet Depressurized with a hiss, Polar thought about the first time it happened in an accident. He had been hiking a high mountain to recover one of his fallen brothers from a group of bandits who had stormed their base to steal their supplies and just wreak havoc in general. 

His helmet depressurized, causing him to nearly suffocate as the oxygen was too thin for him to breathe.  He ended up holding his breath for nearly ten minutes while he tried to fix the pressure seal on the rim of the helmet. After he arrived back at the base.  He trained his lungs to be able to hold his breath for a long period of time to be able to survive like that if nobody was there to help him if his helmet depressurized again.

“Sir? You alright?” Ebony, the door guard trooper, asked Polar. Ebony was confused and concerned as to why his Corporal was just standing there, staring into nothing.

“Oh, yes, sorry… just lost in thought. Thanks for letting me in, Eb.” Polar answered while taking off his helmet. Thin strands of loose platinum blond hair stuck to his face from a tiny sheen of moisture that collected on his forehead from the heat of the helmet. He took a long breath and wiped his head, brushing back his hair as he and Ebony proceeded to the elevator. The filtered oxygen of the base was a lot nicer than the filters in the helmets; not only more pure, but warmer. 

Polar and Ebony made their way up to the main control room of the base. Butch, Offbeat, Nonk and Rico, who were sitting in the room at the table playing cards, quickly stood at attention when they saw Polar enter the room.

“At ease boys…” He said, and they immediately slackened their posture and went back to casual stances. “Anything interesting happen while I was gone?” The light haired clone asked, setting his helmet down on a table before walking to look at the holo screens to observe the data logs. 

“Nothing really important… Rico stubbed his toe and said swears that I didn't know existed, so that's cool I guess…” Ebony said in his usual apathetic tone and slumped onto one of the benches lining the table. 

“That's not surprising… Are you sure he didn't just make them up?” Polar inquired, “Because it wouldn't be the first time he's done something like that.” He chuckled and shook his head as Ebony rolled his eyes and looked back at his datapad. 

A chime came from the computer and a transmission request came through… it was from the chancellor himself. He answered it, and the others turned their attention from their tasks to the hologram display of the chancellor in a hooded robe.

“Execute Order sixty-six.”

“Yes sir.” The whole team, except for Polar, said and then went back to their business. There was no Jedi in sight, or even on the planet for all they knew, so there was nothing to do except continue with their other activities. Polar had a puzzled look on his face.

“Uhh…. What was that order again?”

“Order sixty-six is to execute the Jedi, Sir, they are traitors.” Brutus replied as if it was no big deal that they had just been told to kill the people they’ve fought with since the beginning of the war.

Polar exclaimed in an utterly confused tone, “HUH!?” and Brutus’s hand went to his blaster holster.

“Are you saying you’re not going to obey the order? Sir? Good soldiers follow orders.”

“No, I- was just- confused, that's all, Brutus…” Polar put back on his commanding voice and told Brutus to stand down. 

He thought for a moment, before walking to grab his helmet and leave the room. 

“I'll be in my quarters, if any of you need me… just come get me- or call me on the comms.” The Corporal said as he went out of the sliding durasteel door and into the corridor towards the team's quarters. A perk about their team being the only one at the small base was that they each got their own small, private rooms instead of a big barracks room like on Kamino or on a larger base. Being a clone, where your needs weren’t always met the same as nat-borns most of the time, having a private room was a small luxury, but still a luxury that he had. Taking off his armor, he thought about the order just given to him and all of his comrades. Polar tucked away his armor pieces, and his tattered cloak into the storage box, then sat on his bed in his blacks. He contemplated changing into his fatigues, or just into another pair of blacks, he ultimately ended up choosing the clean pair of blacks over the loose fatigues. 

About two hours of reading a holo-drama novel, Polar’s eyes started to get heavy and droopy. He yawned, setting his datapad down on the nightstand and getting up to turn the lights down, still keeping the room lit with one single light so it wouldn't be pitch black darkness. As he was walking back to his bed, he took the elastic ribbon out of his hair, the piece that was keeping it up in a small bun, and let his hair fall down. He sighed in the slight relief caused by the release of the tension in his scalp. Scratching his head and sitting down on the side of his bed, he stretched one more time and laid down, pulling the blanket over himself. 

Just as he was falling asleep, his comm went off. Beep beep beep beep beep beep.

He grabbed it and answered it with a tired voice, “This is Corporal Polar.” 

“Hi sir, Um, we just got a request to come back to Kamino within the next two rotations for an event.”

“Okay? And you needed to tell me this now?”

“Well, I suppose I could have waited…”

“You could have, yes. Bright as always Brutus… Is there anything else you'd like to tell me while you have me on call?”

“Um, nothing I can think of right now, I’ll call you again if I think of anything, Sir!”

“Well, Brutus, I appreciate your enthusiasm, but I would like to sleep, so only call me if it’s really urgently important, ‘kay?”

“Affirmative, Sir! Sleep well, Sir. The boys say goodnight too.”

“Thanks, Good night…”

The communication signal ended with a click noise, and Polar put his comm back onto the nightstand. He closed his eyes and tried to do his routine of tensing all of his muscles and releasing them with a deep breath, starting with his face; he scrunched it, making the scar across his nose bridge pull slightly painfully, but a bearable amount. After his routine was over, he was much more relaxed and closed his eyes, pulling his blanket back over his shoulder and settling into a comfortable position.

I was gonna give her a Zeon's armored "Zaku" series ❌, but look how innocent she is that she deserves a Federation's armored "GM" ✔️, instead; "GM II" to be specific. 🤖🙂

BTW: Don't worry, though, there will be more members that will fitted in Zeon's armored Zaku for the selected "Cuteness Members", someday to make balance out. 😉

GM II Chick-Sara Based on the: RMS-179 GM II [CLICK ME!]

Armament(s):

60mm Vulcan Gun • A pair of shell-firing armament built into the helmet. Low offensive power, only used to restrict enemy movement, and lay down a wall of suppressive fire due to their rapid fire capability.

Beam Saber • The beam saber is a small device held in the armor's hands when deployed and is powered by a rechargeable energy capacitor. It emits high-energy Minovsky particles to form a blade-shaped I-field (via manipulation of electromagnetic fields), and then fills this I-field shell with superheated Minovsky particle plasma to produce an effective cutting blade. Like the GM, the GM II has one beam saber stored on its backpack, but features an improved blade generator unit.

BOWA·BR-S-85-C2 Beam Rifle • A portable firearm that shoots out mega particles beams. It has a power rating of 1.9 MW and is powered by a built-in energy CAP system.

BLASH HB-L-07/N-STD Hyper Bazooka • An improved model of the HB-L-03/N-STD Hyper Bazooka with added targeting sensors, increasing its accuracy. The magazine has also been changed to be completely sealed/airtight, and this not only makes exchanging magazine easier, but also protects against debris intrusion, accidental explosion due to being hit, etc. Additionally, no special attention needs to be paid to the weapon during operation as the rigidity of the rib section connecting the carrying handle to the bazooka's rear has been enhanced.

HWF GMG·MG79-90mm Bullpup Machine • The bullpup machine gun was a system weapon developed as a Space/Ground dual-use projectile weapon. Though compact, it has sufficient anti-MS firepower while maintaining accuracy. Its muzzle velocity is increased due to the use of new gunpowder and this enables it to easily penetrate the armor of Zeon's. A box-like sensor system incorporating a video camera and laser sensor is installed at the top, and when this system is used alongside the GM II's targeting system, target acquisition capability is enhanced.

HFW-GR·MR82 90mm GM Rifle • A portable, mobile suit-use 90mm rifle built based on the 'system weapon' structure, its effective range and accuracy is superior to the HWF GMG·MG79-90mm machine gun. With the extended barrel, the GM Rifle sees a 15% increase in muzzle velocity, leading to increased armor penetration capability. Additionally, a newly developed caseless cartridge allows for a lightened ammunition load.

YHI YF-MG100 100mm Machine Gun • First utilized by Federation's armor ground forces during the One Year War, its use became less common after the war as the Federation switched to 90mm caliber weaponry. Equipped with a box magazine and folding stock, it has excellent rate of fire and is easy to wield. It utilized a smoothbore type barrel that lacked rifling and has to be replaced after firing 3000 rounds. The weapon could utilize three different types of ammunition: HEAT (High Explosive Anti Tank), APFSDS (Armor-Piercing Fin-Stabilized Discarding-Sabot), and HESH (High Explosive Squash Head), allowing combat units to select the appropriate type to meet operational needs.

Bazooka • A portable, physical projectile-type firearm, this general purpose bazooka was used by the armored Jegan and other Earth Federation Forces' armors. A spare ammunition cartridge is mounted in front of the bazooka's grip, and the weapon is compatible with various types of warhead. Despite the relatively slow speed of the bazooka's projectiles, they have sufficient destructive power to deal critical damages to an armor.

M-120A1 120mm Machine Gun • The same portable firearm used by the Zaku II. It can switch between semi-automatic and automatic fire. Although useless against Luna Titanium Alloy, it can still destroy weaker armor material with multiple shots. It fires 120mm caliber rounds that are stored in a 100-rounds drum magazine.

Harpoon Gun • A projectile weapon designed for amphibious combat. The harpoon gun fires four harpoons one by one in a rotary manner similar to a revolver. The tip of each harpoon is loaded with explosives that detonate once the projectile has penetrated the enemy's armor.

YHI ERRL-TYPE.Doc-04/380mm Rocket Launcher • A portable large rocket launcher meant for armor, it is independently developed by Yashima Heavy Industries for use specifically in 1G environment. Also known as Hyper Bazooka (Ground Type), it has a very versatile design with features that include targeting sensors, etc. It uses a banana-shaped magazine and has a short barrel to facilitate its use in jungle/forested areas. This weapon can utilize a number of different munitions including warheads that deploy stabilizing fins after launch, and this shows that its design took many references from human-sized ground weaponry used in older eras.

YHI YF-RC180 Railcannon • A weapon that uses electromagnetic forces, rather than gunpowder, to fire solid projectiles at very high velocities. Manufactured by Yashima Heavy Industries. This equipment was developed in consideration of the problems that the early beam weapons had decreased power due to attenuation in the atmosphere, and the basic structure is diverted from a battleship's main gun. It was first used by the armor (RGM-79F) Land Combat Type GM.

170mm Cannon • A successor to the 180mm Cannon developed during the early stages of the One Year War. Although the caliber of the shell was reduced to improve handling, its range and power have been increased. The cannon's trigger grip is mounted at the top surface, and a foregrip can be used to stabilize the weapon when in use. Like the 180mm cannon, the 170mm cannon was fed by a magazine: though this time it was underneath the cannon.

BR-87A Beam Rifle • The same beam rifle model as the one used by the Marasai and Hizack. It is powered by a replaceable e-pac and is power rated at 2.2 MW.

FADEGEL RGM-M-Sh-003 Shield • A basic defensive armament used by the Federation's GM type MS. It is composed of a triple honeycomb structure made of Luna Titanium and the surface also has anti-beam coating for defending against beam attacks.

FADEGEL RGM-M-Sh-007 Shield • An improved model of the RGM-M-Sh-003. It has the exact same size as its predecessor, but its material was changed to Titanium-Ceramic composite. Its mount latch was made movable, allowing the shield to be positioned up or down when carried by a Mobile Suit manipulator or mounted on the forearm, increasing its usability.

RGM*S-Sh-WF/S-00109 Shield • The GM II can also use the same forearm-mounted shield as the armor G-Ground Type and GM Ground Type. This small, light shield is constructed of Luna Titanium alloy, and is designed to primarily protect the cockpit and other critical areas. Additionally, it can be used as a close-range striking weapon in C.M.A. (Cuteness Mecha Armor) combat. Furthermore, through lodging the spikes at the tip into the ground, the shield can serve as a free-standing frontal defense. This also allows the mobile suit to use both hands to hold large-caliber weaponry and maintain a stable firing position.

Special Equipment(s)/Features:

Ballute System • An atmospheric entry device designed to be used by a multitude of different mobile suit models. As the mobile suit enters the atmosphere, a bowl-shaped ballute (balloon parachute) deploys to protect it from the friction heat of atmospheric entry. The balloon then detaches, leaving the armor with chest and leg hover units which ease its descent to the ground. If the mobile suit reaches the ground without expending all the fuel in the leg units, these devices can also be used for hovering and high-speed strike missions.

Ramble of the month March 2024: Phase 5 of the Batman Begins-Led DCEU

With April set aside for an autism-centric monthly ramble and February utilised for phase 5 of my 90’s-based alternate MCU, March takes on the role of show-casing phase 5 of my hypothetical Batman Begins-led DC film-verse.  As DC is more prone to content reboots than Marvel, this latest phase will actually ramp up to just such a reboot, with “phase 6” actually being phase 1 of a new DC film-verse.  Unlike the real DCEU, that reboot will be better planned, but first let’s re-cap the previous four phases.

Phase 1, of course, acts as a means of establishing the DC Universe for film fans prior to forming the Justice League.  Phase 2 then builds on that foundation while also causing a schism within the Justice League by adapting the “Tower of Babel” story arc into Justice League 2.  Green Arrow 2 then proves Batman’s point about safeguarding against rogue heroes, which some films in phase 3 follow up on.  Phase 4 then focuses on the falls of many heroes, some of which stay down and some of which return.  However, as phase 4 ended, Hal Jordan was revealed to have gone rogue, which phase 5 will pick up from.  This is how the phase 5 slate would shape up overall.

This film is based on the events of the Justice League story arc The Final Hour, in which the Justice League and others try to stop an alien being called the Sun Eater from devouring Earth’s sun, only for Hal Jordan to ultimately sacrifice himself to save Earth by absorbing the Sun Eater and reigniting the sun.  The film version would be slightly different in numerous details, but by-and-large the main thrust of the story would remain the same.  The League would be the main focus, with Luthor, a few members of future super-team the Legion of Superheroes and a couple of others being heavily featured due to the story arc involved.  The Doom Patrol and Suicide Squad are also featured to lesser degrees during scenes showing the wider crisis in what is essentially a superhero disaster film.

Direction-wise, I’d put this film in the hands of the Russo brothers based on their work for the MCU, especially Infinity War and Endgame in the Avengers run of films.  Indeed, like Infinity War and Endgame, I also gave the Russos direction of Justice League: Armageddon to keep things consistent across both films.  In terms of cast, most cast members have appeared on prior films, with only the characters from Dusk down to Sensor Girl being new cast members coming in fresh on this film.

In the first of our one-shot films, we get a solo outing for Batman’s original protégé Dick Grayson as he tries to clean up the corruption of Bludhaven by working for their local police force.  As the film progresses, Nightwing finds himself caught between local crime lord Blockbuster and a plot involving the infamous Court of Owls of Gotham legend.  Outside Patrick Schwarzenegger reprising the role of Dick Grayson, the cast is completely new to this DCEU, and in honour of his great work on crime-centric films, I’ve picked Guy Ritchie to serve in the director role.

When DC and WB did an animated Killing Joke adaptation, they had the right idea in terms of expanding the story beyond the Alan Moore-written graphic novel.  However, they expanded it incorrectly by having an unrelated preceding 30 minutes that served more to facilitate Bruce Timm’s shipping of a Bruce-Barbara relationship than to make a well-expanded narrative.  This film begins with the Joker being apprehended, hatching his scheme in Arkham, and then a short while later, we get the original Killing Joke plot in the film’s middle.

The end is then expanded, first by taking from a prose novel adaptation I’ve read where Batman laughing with the Joker turns into Batman almost giving in to the temptation to kill Joker.  After this, Joker sees a woman who he thinks is the dead wife from his flashbacks and breaks out to “find the truth”.  When Batman confronts Joker for a third time, the question is left hanging as to whether the Joker’s past was true or not, and a post-credits scene sets up for Barbara becoming Oracle.  Direction-wise, I figure that only Christopher Nolan would do well adapting this material into a live-action narrative.  Casting-wise, the film is mostly existing cast reprising past roles, with only the characters linked to Joker’s back-story being fresh castings.

This film gives us a solo film outing for Supergirl that is partly based on the first season of the character’s Arrowverse TV show.  In other words, we see Kara starting out on her own life in another city and having to clash with her villainous aunt and uncle, as well as Indigo, a time-displaced villain in the Brainiac family tree.  For direction, I’ve picked Reese Witherspoon as I know in recent years she’s taken up production and is very passionate about female-led stories and story-telling, so I think she’d be a great fit to make a directorial debut on a character like Supergirl.

For the penultimate phase 5 film, we’re giving the Birds of Prey super-team their chance to shine, albeit better than they did in the real DCEU.  More comics-accurate castings and character selections, including leaving out Harley Quinn (who, if you remember my phase 4 ramble, is killed off in the last Suicide Squad film).  In this film, we see Barbara recruit a number of street-level heroes to tackle a criminal group known as the Secret Six.  The film follows up on plot threads from Knightfall, Knightsend and Killing Joke, and also uses Cassandra Cain as Batgirl like in the comics, another elements the real DCEU Birds of Prey got wrong.  Patty Jenkins of the real DCEU’s Wonder Woman films helms the project from a directorial standpoint.

During the events of Justice League: Armageddon, Barry Allen’s Flash became lost in the timestream.  When he gets out, he enters an alternate reality where Aquaman and Wonder Woman are at war, and many heroes are missing or dead, including Barry’s speedster alter ego.  Thus begins a mission to learn the truth of why events have changed, and the climax will reboot the DCEU.  While this film simply uses the title of Flashpoint, it’s based more on the DC animated version from the DCAMU as that’s the main Flashpoint story I’ve seen and recall.  Of course, the rest of the alternative DCEU I’ve laid out prior to this film alters some other aspects as well, including how Barry exits the timestream and why history was changed.  Direction-wise, I had to pick Robert Zemeckis just because as the guy who directed the Back to the Future trilogy and the 2009 Disney version of A Christmas Carol, he is probably the best director for anything with a time travel component.

This concludes our phase 5 for the alternate DCEU, and this specific version of the DCEU.  When I do phase 6 on my 90’s MCU, the first (and for now only) phase of my rebooted hypothetical DCEU will be hot on its heels.  So, until next time, ta-ta for now.
