Minecraft flower headcanons
Headcanon that the meanings of flowers in Minecraft are different from in this world. Specifically, the meanings are based on the effects of a suspicious stew that the flower forms.
Dandelions and blue orchids are for Saturation. They symbolize calm, contentment, and a general sense of happiness and well-being. Dandelions tend to be seen as spontaneous and light-hearted while blue orchids are for more serious commitment, but both of them are fine gifts to show appreciation for a friend or loved one.
Oxeye daisies are for Regeneration-- literally giving you hearts! They symbolize love, in much the same way that roses do in this world. Together with dandelions and blue orchids, they're the only flowers that only have positive meanings. Whether romantic, platonic, or familial, an oxeye daisy is the most heartfelt way to say "I love you" in Minecraft.
Lilies of the valley are for Poison. They symbolize pain, bitterness, and heartache. Giving one to someone else is like a slap in the face most of the time: a threat, a rejection, a "Go fuck yourself" that turns a whole bouquet negative. On the other hand, wearing a lily of the valley yourself is a symbol of grief and deep mourning, a pain that cuts to the core.
(While few remember this, the "valley" in "lily of the valley" doesn't represent the area where the flower grows. No, it's for The Valley Below, a dark desert of screaming souls that claw at your feet, desperately longing to be spawned again into the world.)
Poppies are for Night Vision. They symbolize watching and being watched. As such, when paired with negative flowers, they can be seen as a threat or "Watch your back"; however, they can also mean "I'm watching out for you" or even "See you tonight."
(While few remember this, the "valley" in "lily of the valley" doesn't represent the area where the flower grows. No, it's for The Valley Below, a place of screaming souls that claw at your feet, desperately longing to be spawned again into the world.)
Cornflowers are for Jump Boost. They symbolize amazement, surprise, or awe -- literally "jumping for joy". People who win tournaments or games are often given a bouquet of cornflowers in celebration. Though this isn't common, when paired with negative flowers, a cornflower can sometimes represent shock or sudden betrayal, a very sarcastic "Congratulations."
Azure bluets are for Blindness. They symbolize secrets, hiddenness, and avoidance-- a "You didn't see anything." With positive flowers, this can symbolize a secret alliance or even forbidden love, but with negative flowers, it's a taunt, calling someone ignorant or oblivious. Often, someone who wishes to trap someone else or play a prank will leave an azure bluet so that the victim will only see it right before the trap goes off.
Wither roses are for Wither. They always symbolize death, hatred, murder, and intent to kill. To give someone wither roses is a serious declaration of war. There is no positive meaning to wither roses: without exception, they are for people you absolutely despise and wish to see suffer a painful death.
Tulips are for Weakness. This is an odd case, as the different colors are often associated with different connotations; however, any tulip can technically represent any of these meanings in the right context. A white tulip is for surrender; giving it to someone else is a demand for surrender, while wearing it yourself is like carrying a white flag. A pink tulip is for codependence and means "You're my weakness!" A red tulip is a taunt, calling someone else pitiful or weak, while an orange tulip is for a non-violent challenge or invitation to compete without fighting.
Alliums are for Fire Resistance. They symbolize resistance, staying strong, and defiance even in the face of overpowering odds -- "You're going through hell, but you'll get through this." They often also represent protection and a wish for someone to stay safe. Whether planted in front of an enemy leader's house for fellow fighters to see, or given to someone who has been fighting a battle of their own, an allium says, "Never, ever, ever give up."

"It was very…stream of consciousness." You retorted just as playfully. Suddenly, Thomas's hands had siezed your hips again, and you looked down at him in surprise to see a glint of mischief behind his brown eyes.
"Perhaps I should try again, then?" He offered, lips dropping to hover over your sensitive centre, his breath whispering over your soaked folds tantalisingly. "After all, you deserve nothing but the best that I can offer you."
A tiny whimper escaped you; it seemed you wouldn't be leaving this room for a while longer.
And what a way to spend an afterlife, you thought, as Thomas's mouth met your skin once again.

Movelang #001 - Phonology and Sound System
Nophhurra, and hello again everyone! It's time for another post showing off my experimental conlang, Movelang! This time around, I'll be going over Movelang's sound system: the consonants and vowels used, along with a currently loosely-defined syllable structure, as well as allophony!

Admittedly, the Phonology has been one of the aspects of Movelang which has been altered several times over, and has gone through several iterations before reaching the point at which it exists in the present. Since the emphasis for this conlang was moreso on grammar than on the phonoaesthetic, I had largely loosely defined it at the start, with only a vague idea of what Movelang would sound like. At the start, I took a lot of inspiration from the Coptic Language, as well as several African and Caucasian Languages. Later on as I began being more deterministic about the phonetic inventory of the language, it did change from this original vision in several ways, but I ended up ultimately with something I really like!

(My charts tend to prioritize neatness over exactness, so if there's a sound somewhere that doesn't exactly describe it completely correctly, please don't fight me 😭)
Phonemically, the consonant inventory consists of 2 nasals, 15 plosives, 4 fricatives, 2 liquids, and 1 tap. The plosives are split three ways by mode of articulation, where 5 stops are unaspirated: /p t t͡ɕ k q/, 5 stops are aspirated: /pʰ tʰ t͡ɕʰ kʰ qʰ/, and 5 are voiced: /b d d͡ʑ g ɢ/. Each mode of articulations contains a labial, dento-alveolar, palatal, velar, and uvular stop respectively. This was a choice inspired by both Ancient Greek, as well as the Coptic and Caucasian influence I mentioned earlier, and in an earlier version of the phonology, the palatal affricates were instead alveolar affricates: /t͡s t͡sʰ d͡z/. Accompanying the stops are 4 fricatives that roughly match 4/5 of the same manners of articulation: /s ɕ x ħ/. These were selected mainly for that reason, that they lie in the same POA as their stop counterparts, but I decided to throw in an oddball for the fricative furthest towards the back of the mouth. Originally, this was /h/ phonemically, but I was intrigued by Maltese's presence of /ħ/ as the sole voiceless fricative closest to the back of the mouth, so I decided to do this for Movelang, and I do love how it sounds! I personally think /x/ and /ħ/ pair nicely with each other! The Approximants and Nasals then weren't that hard to reckon, I simply filled in the gaps in the chart respectively. When I got to my /l/ sound though, I decided to make this a little bit different as well, and follow the lead of Mongolian, and make it /ɮ/ instead. I also made the decision to omit /w/ or any similar sound, since I have a habit of using this sound a lot whenever I make new sound systems, as a bit of a monkey-wrench to try and make myself work with.

For Allophony, most of this deals with the pronunciation of consonants. There are 3 major rules that come into effect when pronouncing consonants in particular places within a word. First, the nasals, /m n/, devoice to /m̥ n̥/ whenever they are preceded by a syllable that has an aspirated plosive in the coda, any of /pʰ tʰ t͡ɕʰ kʰ qʰ/. Secondly, /ɮ/ may devoice to /ɬ/ when next to any voiceless sound: a voiceless plosive or fricative. Finally, the alveolar tap /ɾ/ becomes trilled /r/ when it is geminated. These rules as you'll notice mostly depend on a sound's locale within a syllable, which I'll explain in greater detail when discussing syllable structure...

As for the vowels, these are quite simple. Movelang consists of seven phonemic vowels, which compliment the front and the back of the mouth. Movelang contains no phonemic length, tone, nasality, or anything else that would affect vowel quality in this way, at least phonemically, and only has these 7 plain oral vowels. There are 3 front vowels: /ɛ e i/, all of which are unrounded, and 4 back vowels: /ɑ ɔ o u/, all of which are rounded, except for the open back vowel.
In terms of vowel allophony, nothing really major happens to vowels. The only major rule which takes place with vowels, is that /ɑ/ goes to /a/ when near a palatal sound.

Additionally, the syllable shape in Movelang is pretty straightforward, it's pretty much CVC, but with a few additional caveats. The main difference, is that /j/ cannot be a coda consonant, which is reflected by the use of D for the coda consonant in my syllable shape notation, and additionally, only 6 consonants can end a word: /m t k q s r/, which is reflected by the use of K for a word-final coda consonant.
In addition to these tactical features, hiatus is permitted in Movelang, meaning that the onset consonant in syllables is optional even word-internally, and when this happens, the parallel vowels flow together smoothly, rather than having some epenthetic consonant placed between them, like a glottal stop. Gemination also happens quite frequently in Movelang, especially in compounds, and it is under these circumstances when /j/ technically can appear in the coda of a syllable, but only as a part of a geminate /j:/.

so I made a language where the verbs outsource nearly everything to the nouns
I saw the thing Wolof does with its tenses and decided to do that, but more. It got away from me, but I actually quite like the result.
I call this language Ładäk Hŕlegŕz, or Hŕładäk for short.
This ought to be interesting.
PHONOLOGY
Romanization is in the pointy brackets where it's different from the IPA. I'll be using the romanization for most of the examples I give; I don't have a good way of making a font for the script, or at least I don't know how, for reasons I'll explain.

For the most part, stress falls on the first syllable that historically contained a long vowel, though in some speakers all diphthongs will trigger stress in the same way. Since the syllabic ɹ̩ comes from both historical long and short vowels, and collapses a wide variety of vowels into it, minimal pairs can exist where a following vowel would take stress. For an example, though, let's use a near-minimal pair constructed by way of the past-tense marker (which, like most tenses, forms with a suffix on the subject):
yŕl /jɹ̩l/ "clothing", yŕlal /ˈjɹ̩lɑl/ "clothing-PST; yŕs /jɹ̩s/ "egg" yŕs /jɹ̩ˈsɑl/ "egg-PST".
The stress falls on the syllable containing the ɹ̩ in one of these words, but on the other syllable whose vowel was historically long in the other. Thus, stress is contrastive, exclusively in /ɹ̩/. (The romanization doesn't have a particularly good way of distinguishing this. As I'll explain later, the kigeil script does.)
Breathy vowels and /ɤ æ/ always defer stress, and whether diphthongs other than /aj ej/ do varies by dialect. More conservative dialects assign primary stress exclusively to those; others have spread it to many or even all diphthongs. (In my examples, I will probably vary the way I assign stress to diphthongs other than /aj ej/ for this reason.)
Also, you may have noticed that Hŕładäk allows some crunchy consonant clusters, but I'll find a few fun illustrative examples in the form of common words:
sfre /sfrɛ/ "bug"; stmai /stmaj/ "fish"; cfen /ʃfɛn/ "end, edge"; sva /svɑ/ "side"; ucs /uʃs/ "shelter".
KIGEIL SCRIPT
The Kigeil script is an alphabet, but it forms syllable blocks a bit like Hangeul does and is written top to bottom and then left to right. (That means it's obnoxious as hell to make a font for and I don't know how. I'll be using hand-written samples from my art software.) I took some inspiration from the Latin alphabet for many of the forms.

Breathy vowels and an unstressed syllabic in an environment where the contrast matters are marked with a diacritic that's very similar to the acute accent.

(There's not a good way of distinguishing /uj ju/ and /wi iw/ that's standard, although some speakers will use the diacritic for /wi iw/.)
Syllables are formed by placing glyphs into blocks that are read left to right and then top to bottom. Up to two onset consonants will sit on the same line, followed by the vowel if there is not a third. Any third consonant will sit on the second line, followed by the vowel. Then the coda goes below. For a few examples:

The in-setting speakers of this language, the Naładäk, don't care even as much as we tend to about profanity.)
Again, no font for this, plus the directionality makes the format obnoxious to deal with (that's a TALL sample, and Tumblr seems to have stretched it horizontally enough that the glyphs get fuzzy), so I'll use the romanization from here on.
GRAMMAR
Word order is SVO, and descriptors always come before, as does the possessor, and indirect objects always come after the object.
NOUNS
Nouns mark for number, case, and most tenses. Number and case mark with prefixes, but the tenses form suffixes.
Hŕładäk has a marked dual and plural, sa- and ma- respectively. Example: yúl "year"; sayúl "two years"; mayúl "years".
Cases are marked with a prefix that precedes any number markings. There is a nominative, accusative, genitive, dative, and ablative case. The dative also functions as a locative and sometimes an allative, and the ablative case functions as an elative or instrumental as well. The nominative is unmarked.
The accusative is the prefix yai-; since word order is strict, with the exception of some of the personal pronouns, i.e. the first person singular, it's just about only used in relative clauses and similar contexts, though can appear on a simple object for emphasis. It also appears reasonably often in common idioms, i.e. zet yaisít, lit. "to hold the reins", referring to controlling one's own destiny, having agency, etc. In some dialects it can also serve as a definite article, but that's not technically standard.
The genitive is the prefix nail-. This is most often used to mark the possessor of another noun. Example: NailSílukinu la! "Sílukinu's blood!" (a common profanity expressing frustration or disgust.)
The dative is the prefix nei-. It marks indirect objects, i.e. Nal hail melgin neiPaci "I gave the bread to Paci", but is also used as a locative, i.e. neilin sait "to ride in rain" (an idiom used to describe good fortune), and can also function as an allative as in Cainal vei neitijä "He went to the city".
The ablative is the prefix yŕ- or yŕd- (typically retaining the d if the noun has an initial vowel, though that's not the only sort of environment where that happens). It typically means "from (x)" as in yŕkende "from the village" from the text sample, but it also operates as an instrumental, i.e. Zenal had cai naiz yŕdicak neimakaz "She struck him in his legs with her icak". (An icak is a culturally significant type of one-handed sword.)
That's cases; now let's get fonky.
Here's the tenses that affix to the subject (and I'll explain what each is more specifically below). There are two common suffix forms, often depending on the presence of a final vowel (but not always).

Habituals in nonpast forms are marked by reduplication of the first syllable of the verb; more on that later.
The optative (Opt.) refers to things the speaker wishes for, but it serves double duty as a future tense. An example of each sense: Tsuti kin stais "The goat wishes to eat grass"; Säzgägi húseiskatc "Säzgä will survive".
The imperative (Imp.) marks commands. It's a bit unusual in that it can attach to an indirect object or locative (i.e. something marked with the dative case) or occasionally other forms in addition to just the subject. An example of a regular one, then an example of that: Legain til! "Run!"; Neilinain sait! "Ride in rain!" (an idiom wishing someone good fortune). Gain can function as a particle in lieu of the second person singular or dual pronoun, but (usually) not the plural.
The abilitive (Abilit.) expresses the ability or possibility to do something, as well as some forms of understanding. Example: Fitadban ła nan małi yŕdstoga yŕdõlts ŕsaygas "Fitad could not gather water from the oasis because of the poison"
The permissive (Perm.) expresses permission or consent to do something. It also functions as a conditional. Examples: Lenait tcasä stret giñä "You may ask again later"; Wagunait deyŕsayi deil "The fruit might poison someone".
The obligative (Obl.) expresses a necessity. Examples: Dalis su Mailawá han "I think that Maila needs to sleep".
Because of the cases and the TAM, personal pronouns have a wild amount of forms.

The distinction in the first-person plurals is that inclusive means including the listener and exclusive means not including the listener.

Since TAM forms should just about exclusively mark on the nominatives, that's all I included in the table.
Yeah. Nouns are a lot in this language.
VERBS
We just about exclusively have the imperfective, passive, and causative here. They outsourced ALL that other stuff to the subject.
The passive is marked with the prefix ve- or vem- on the verb. The agent, if present, is marked with the ablative case. Example: Nal venäplaju yŕSäzgä "I was greeted pleasantly by Säzgä".
The causative is marked with the prefix hai- or hail- on the verb. The object, where present, is marked with the dative case. Example: Cainal haijitä Maila neyŕnäd "He caused Maila to fire the arrow."
The imperfective, which also functions as a habitual, is marked with a reduplication of the first syllable of the verb root, often the onset and vowel only. Example (and comparison): E tcasä rogwan "I wake up early"; E tcasä rorogwan "I often wake up early".
Oh, also, there's not a copula. No "to be", not in the standard dialect especially. You just handle it with juxtaposition: E tradeil 1S <COP> soldier "I am a soldier" like that.
That's just about all that happens with verbs. :^)
INTERROGATIVES
Questions are generally constructed with these terms, and they double as relative pronouns. We have: yä "why"; kõ "how"; hä "when"; kul "who"; so "where"; and su "what".
If what's in question is the object of the verb, these most often precede it: Lenal su keuli? "What have you found?"
If what's in question is the subject, these interrogatives take subject position and take the TAM markings: Kulnal hon yei? "Who saw you two?"
Other questions, the interrogatives modify the verb, i.e. Lenal kõ keuli yai? "How did you find me?"
RELATIVE CLAUSES
The interrogative terms are also the relative pronouns. Subjects and direct objects can be relativized directly; indirect objects and obliques have to use a passive or a causative; the standard dialect does not allow relativization of genitives or comparatives in any form, but some dialects do allow those with passive or causative constructions. For a few examples:
Subject: Säs keiduzema kul ŕn "That is the man who used to hunt" Säs keid kul caizema ŕn "That is the man who used to hunt" (Using the pronoun places further emphasis on the action)
Object: Säs keid kul nal hon "This is the man who I saw" Säs yaikeid kul nal hon "This is the man who I saw" (an alternate construction that differentiates the object of the main clause from the subject of the relative clause; not strictly necessary in this case, but sometimes you have ambiguity)

Oblique: Keidunal zema hailŕn naica äct neica neig "The man whose brother I used to bring hunting with me died" (Obliques generally use the causative exclusively, but some speakers will use passives for them too).
NEGATION
The particle ła is used for negation, simply preceding whatever it's meant to negate. Depending on context, it can negate either the sense of the TAM attached to a verb or the verb itself. There's not a morphological way to distinguish between those contexts. A quick example of negation:
 Säs glibon ła pälsu ni rákajai. "This illusion is not a good or scary one."
So that's about it for the grammar. Kinda.
PROFANITY
I'd like to explain a few of my favorite profanities in the language. There's a couple of wildly useful words, and then a few really entertaining phrases.
Let's start with tsai. Its function is a bit like the English "fuck", except minus the sexual connotations. It's a great single syllable that's good to just insert places and really lean into. So that's kind of what happens with it, often. You can stick it in any place in a sentence and it works, though it'll mean slightly different things. Let's grab one of our sample sentences from earlier:
Nal hail melgin neiPaci "I gave the bread to Paci"
Tsai nal hail melgin neiPaci would cast the entire action as an unfortunate thing.
Nal tsai hail melgin neiPaci would land as an angry, rude way of saying "I already did this thing".
Nal hail tsai melgin neiPaci would land as either the above or as a slight against the bread itself depending on context.
Nal hail melgin tsai neiPaci is a slight against Paci.
Nal hail melgin neiPaci tsai is a bit like "I'm annoyed that I have to say this."
You also get a few fun phrases that develop from tsai.
Ya tsai is a bit in the direction of "fucking hell", "fucking listen to me", or "what the fuck" as an exclamation.
La tsai is a bit more "fuck yeah".
U säs ya tsai (na... [name or pronoun]) is a bit like "And what the fuck is this?" You can add the vocative particle na and a name or pronoun to specify who you're addressing.
Na tsai is like "you motherfucker" kinda.
(Gain) vei neitsai is a bit like "Go to hell" or "go fuck yourself"; adding the dative suggests "tsai" is either a place or action that's negative somehow.
Ya nailõlts tsai doesn't have a particularly useful direct translation into English; it's literally "Oh wind of fuck", which is ...janky. But this is an extreme expression of frustration or rage. It's also possible to add other phrases after this, i.e. Ya nailõlts tsai nab "What in the wind's fucking asshole?" Generally the more you add, the more intense it is.
Satsai is like "you also, fucker", often a response to insults etc.
Cta tsai is like if "capisce" was derived from "fuck".
Phrases that aren't (necessarily) just full of tsai
Gain nan masalí neitagí "Go gather cacti in your ass", basically a spicy "fuck off", even spicier if you add something like an instrumental after this, i.e. yŕpŕbas "using a shovel", yŕyav "using a dick".
Tarinabey is a compound, literally "wounded-asshole-mouth", a useful term for someone with dangerous ideas or someone who's generally just an actively, dangerously terrible person.
Kołõr (naidja) neyŕná literally translates to "to shit in someone's eye"; it's a way of referring to lying.
Kołvit lit. "shit-axe", draws on the metaphorical sense of axes as referring to creating fire, so basically "shit-burner". Refers to someone who makes the world worse with their actions.
And there's some of my favorite profanities. I don't always flesh out the profanity this much in my conlangs, but I went pretty deep with this one and I really enjoy the result.

I don't have a following on here at this point so probably no one fits this description but whatever) might notice some Kigeil in a painting I made earlier. I will do more at some point though lmao

Rajin is the main setting of my story. She is a massive air/spaceship traveling between worlds while self sustaining internal functionalities for life and comfort. Capable of carrying hundreds, but a crew of only 5 individuals made her into their permanent home for several years while they take to exploring the deeper and darker reaches of the Universe.
General overview…….externally, Rajin is inspired by the sun and betta fish with its tall upper and lower fin like structures and wings. A series of see through pods line the bottom section. Every part of Rajin….engines, sky rings, even the walls and floors are alive in a sense as they shift very slightly with the pulses of elemental magic running all throughout the ship.
Speaking of elemental magic, Rajin is powered by the 8 main crystals containing, ice, air, lightning, earth, water, fire, dark, and light energies. The balance…push and pull between the larger dark and light crystals power general to warp speed travel. Most other space ships currently depend on advanced tech, special fuel, and orbital rings for space exploration and this is only within a series of metropolitan like planets/systems including Youndre. Every other world is considered independent/isolated even depending just on magic vs. science. The other crystals aid in basic/beneficial functions like heating, cooling, lighting, providing clean water, and nutritional vegetation.
Internally, Rajin was restored and rebuilt to provide personalized living for Eldoron, Jessie, Orion, Ian, and Trish while in mid hyperspeed for weeks on end. Outside of each of them having large house like rooms, they also have access to shared recreational, nature filled spaces, look outs,….etc.and being able to prepare ahead with training rooms and a smithy/leather crafter workshop for armor and weapons.
Everyone plays different roles to upkeep Rajin while also supporting each other…..i.e. Eldoron sets its courses and manually flies/lands the ship, Ian improves and repairs (by encouraging Rajin’s self-healing properties), Jessie runs the sick bay and aids in harvesting and cooking, Trish helps with plant and animal care (including the care of the creatures she temporarily holds for rescue), and Orion helps charge and balance the magic between all the crystals to keep everything stable.

Blog 08: Sense-Making of Nature Interpretation
Hey everyone, and welcome back for another blog post. In today’s prompt we are discussing the most amazing things we know about nature. For me, what comes to mind first would be the magnificent northern lights. Though I have never had the chance to see them in person, I can tell how breathtaking they would be just from pictures, videos, and descriptions.

The northern lights are scientifically known as aurora borealis, meaning the light of dawn. They can be seen from the northern hemisphere in regions such as Canada, Alaska, Russia, Norway, and Sweden since these places cover the auroral oval (Waldek & Dobrijevic, 2022). However, since auroral activity is not always consistent, the oval can shift. An aurora refers to a natural light display projected in the sky (National Geographic, 2023). They can appear when charged solar wind particles from the sun approach the Earth as solar wind. These particles are able to interact with the Earth’s magnetic field (National Geographic, 2023). Most of this solar wind gets blocked by the magnetosphere, but some ions do get trapped. The area where ions are trapped in the atmosphere is called the ionosphere. Within the ionosphere, nitrogen and oxygen atoms from the Earth’s atmosphere collide (National Geographic, 2023). The energy from this collision creates the fascinating glowing lights we see as the northern lights. The colours of an aurora are influenced by altitude, as well as the atoms that are involved (National Geographic, 2023). oxygen atoms tend to produce a red colour, however this is rare as it happens only when the ions are striked high in the atmosphere. Commonly, oxygen produces green/yellow auroras. When hydrogen and helium atoms are striked, blue and purple hues can be seen (National Geographic, 2023). 
Auroras have a deep meaning in several cultures as well. In Iceland, it is thought that looking at the northern lights directly would cause your child to become cross-eyed (Berg, 2023). In Finland, the Sami Indigenous people believe that the lights must be respected (Berg, 2023). In their culture, the auroras are considered to be living beings, and that misfortune would come upon you if you were to disrespect them (Berg, 2023). As I have mentioned before in Blog 7, music is also an important part of the Sami Indigenous culture as they communicate through song, by singing yoiks (Gray et al., 2001). 
The northern lights are just one of nature’s several wonders. As interpreters, it is necessary for us to appreciate and understand the elements of nature in order to share our findings with our audiences (Beck et al., 2018). By surrounding ourselves in nature’s beauty, we can build a profound connection to it. As I continue to grow as an interpreter, I hope to both inspire and inform others about culture & nature (Beck et al., 2018).

I suddenly think of a idea of adding more dynamics into my final part of lighting design to create more senses of surreal preposterous. It is about several red particles floating upwards and its motions interrupted by high-frequency flashes of white light. This dynamic is placed on two walls so audience can feel strong impact about noticing this when they’re focusing on scroll down blue and white light curtain in front.

As regards literature, psychoanalysis has especially influenced Surrealism, which is the modernist movement that has most strongly adopted the dream. Therefore, the concept of Surrealism is important in the discussion of the relationship between dream poems and reality. Significantly, the word Surrealism can be translated into ‘super realism’, which implies that the connection to reality is not denied; on the contrary, it is emphasized, but at another level. This is a level which, according to Freud, is often thought of as ‘under’, but is nevertheless said to be ‘over’ or ‘super’, and as a result of this metaphor alone, it holds a positive value. Breton’s first Surrealist manifesto of 1924 defined the term as follows: “Surrealism is based on the belief in the higher reality of certain forms of associations which, before Surrealism, remained unaffected, in the almighty dream and in the unintelligible play of thought” (Breton [1962] 1972, p. 36). Inspired by Freud’s interpretations of dreams, Surrealism explores and gives a voice to the subconscious. Automatic writing and dream poems become key literary forms of expression in an art that denies a traditional realistic aesthetic, and instead requires that language adopt the mysterious and illogical character of the dream.

Delivery of stems is quite common and often expected when working with linear media. Stems are submixes of the audio by category such as music , dialog and sound effects. Stems make it convenient to make changes to the mix, such as replacing the dialog, without needing to revisit the entire mix. Having a separate music bounce also allows for more flexible and creative editing while working on the whole mix to picture. It also makes sense to structure our overall mix in terms of music, effects and dialog busses for ease of overall mixing. Rather than trying to mix all tracks at once, the mix ultimately comes down to a balance between the three submixes, allowing us to quickly change the relative balance between the major components of the mix.

It depicts Rock-like forms and a strange tower of balloon-shapes, wheel-spokes and stones are inhabiting this overcast dreamscape. “Inconsistent gravity emphasizes the unconscious surrealism in the painting. There is no logic in the gravity of the piece. Objects that shouldn’t be able to stand up are standing. Things stacked on other things which should have no value of balance somehow stay upright. ”(Chisham, 2014) In surreal painting, stuffs do not obey a same discipline. For example, this audio contains a lot of sound effects that point to a specific direction. But this orientation was not always delivered in my project.

I had finished and made some slightly adjustment for all the five minutes of my work this week, including some timeline proofreading to make the whole audio-visual experience smoother. I have noticed that some classmates felt boring of the middle section of my work in last week’s Capitol Theater test, so more dynamic shifts were edit into it.

Nik commended that my work was beautiful but possessive. Asymmetrical pattern of lighting design was also been recognized. Involve the whole threater as integrity to showcase lighting was also a good point to keep.
Darrin suggested me to reduce lighting area at the soothing rhythm section so a stronger contrast would make later. I took this advance and it worked well.

The green lights follow the same rhythm and make repeated movements on the track, giving the viewer an assumption of inertia. The vocals then interrupt the repetitive electronic sounds and the lights change from a long green strip to a white mass, breaking the established assumptions to create a sense of awe.

This week I had work through the 1min45s-2min58s of the audio clip. This piece was created using a sound-association method and adapted to take into account the audience's attention span and viewing position.
The last slow section of music is interrupted by an upbeat electronic sound like a phone ringing, and I arrange blue, purple, orange and yellow flicker presets for the left and right walls and adjust its period to 2 to indicate this insertion. This ringtone was repeated twice, the first time it was played in its entirety, but the second time it was interrupted as well. So, I set a 0.5 second release for the first segment and zeroed out the release for the second segment to differentiate.
For the next metal-like friction sound, I set the front ceiling to a silver wave effect for expression.
Next was a section of back to front like machine loaded stereo, I added blue and purple wave qualities to the walls on either side and changed the direction to forward. with the 0.1period loop, it was just right for the tempo of this electronic sound.
Because the previous lighting animation drew the audience's attention to the front of the theater, and this sound effect is articulated with the previous one, so I set the lighting animation after 2:15 to ProArch. Because this sound effect reminds me of laser rain, I set the lighting animation to a black+colored wave to simulate a light transparency flicker.
The electronic synthesized sound at the beginning of 2:21 was imagined by me as being in a cold-colored mechanical engineering, so I represented it with blue flicker animations on both sides of the wall.
The tapping sound inserted in the middle of the similar sound effect at both ends was very much like the sound of a heavy landing and was accompanied by a gradual upward movement of the sound position, so I imagined it as a person going up the stairs and made an orange horizontal bar to switch the lighting.
To hint to the viewer that the mutation is about to happen, I added a purple color to the lighting animation of the second similar sound effect to differentiate it from the first animation.
To match the sudden loud human hiss, I added color fast cuts of 0.2 and 0.3 seconds respectively to ProArch, while extinguishing the wall lights on both sides to draw the viewer's attention to the front.

Week 5
Class Reflection
The first class was ask to provide first project draft and professors would give feedback. I watched some of my classmates’ work and discussed with them. I decide audio choice of my project after the class.
The second class located at the Capitol Theater for students to test our drafts. The biggest most common problem of our works that exposed in this lesson was that low-saturation colors tend to be so close to white light that it doesn't perform well. Another problem that stood out in my work was the use of multiple lights that resulted in too much brightness throughout the theater, thus interrupting the immersive viewing experience for the audience.
Most audience agreed that the feeling of my work did not match with “astonishing” feeling. Some suggested “brutal” but the sound effects also make people giggle. “Black out” was advised to use more for separating scenes. The emotion of the piece was difficult to characterize until the overall production is complete.

Knowhere is a fictional city in Marvel related media. The location consists of intertwined mining machines and urban buildings that float through the universe, lacking flora, fauna, and land. I choose it as this week’s creative practice because it is highly mechanized which is very similar to my chosen audio.
The major light sources of its related scenes are ample orange and white spot lights that are embed on dark architectures. Foggy blue light is also used as background fill light. All the setting above make audience impressed by the city's massive size and highly developed.

Project Progress
I’d done 48s Pharos Designer document of my chosen audio Rivage. Presets like “Wave” “Stroke” “Color” “Sparkle” were used to simulate fast switching of sound effects. Below is my week 5 Test.
After the draft test, I reduced the range of lighting in some sections, made sparkle part re-match with the sound effects and enhanced color contrast in the second flash section.

Even though the book doesn't directly mention lighting design, but instead talks mostly about the differences between designing for film and theater, I still gained a lot of design knowledge from it. For example, The author suggests readers to start develop their works’ visual style by learning semiotics. In semiotics there are three types of signifiers: icon, index and symble. Among them, symbol requires audience to cultured lean about resemblance between signifiers and signified. As a designer of multisensory experience, my project must avoid “symbol” because it is against the principle of perception.
In addition, Dobbins also states that “theater is the eternal present.” “Creating motion in your workroom will feel very different from watching the same motion in the theatre.”

The color palettes of teal and orange shocked me at the start. Teal background looks ethereal and airy, orange spotlight on the singer looks warm and nostalgic. They are contradictory due to great gap between color temperature but luminous intensity make them so harmonious.

Visiting Capital Theater make me notice influence of blind spot to audience. Sound: Sound is defined as “Sensation due to stimulation of the auditory nerves and auditory centers of the brain” in Webster's dictionary. Therefore the meaning of a sound to a specific person depends on both their biological instinct and cultural symbol recognition. According to various pitches, durations, loudness and timbre, sound conducts scales of temporal, spatial and conceptual. 
Colour: Colour reflects both environmental signals and subjective emotions. In performance, colour can convey characters’ emotion, setting mood for the whole scene, guide audience attention to focus on specific people or stuff, establish time and places.
Kennen:To know something based on experience means that the audience skip logical inference and centre on their feelings only.

Through Eugene's introduction to black in the history of philosophy and art, I learnt that black can symbolise "before the origin of the universe", "solitude, privation, absence" and "non-interference". It's flat and full but an empty, infinite depth at the same time. Sometimes black is not pure emptiness, and as one observes black, shades of other colours become apparent.
I thought it might be possible to use these black qualities to create contrast in my performance design. This is the beginning of a programme about Chinese artefacts, and I think it's exhilarating. Although it's only 20 seconds long, it undergoes three atmospheric shifts of seriousness-austere-aroused indignatio. I watched three Capital tutorial videos on Canvas so I know how to change background colour and manage timelines in Pharos Designer 2.
Project Progress
I started to write the background music of my project. The theme is about an encounter between two ancient Chinese armies, which takes place on a large plain with mudflats, reeds and small highlands. The music will use some Chinese folk instruments such as guzheng, flute, xiao, Chinese drums, etc., as well as some ambient sounds such as wind, streams, horses' hooves, cold weapons clashing, etc. The style of the music will be more on the side of the Chinese style, but also on the side of the Chinese style of music.
The style of music will be more astonishing, exhilarating and hysterical. At first, the tune is light-hearted and neither army is aware of the other's presence. Gradually, ambient sounds such as horses' hooves running on water, and reeds rubbing against armour appear, and the instruments (especially the lute) sound suspenseful to create the appearance of traces left by the enemy. Then the rhythm of the drums kicks in, and the atmosphere becomes serious as both commanders send out scouts to spy on the army.

G ⇴ GETTING READY
Almost every pregnancy book available had been read by Namjoon in order to make sure that the two of you were as prepared as possible. The last thing he wanted was for the two of you to forget anything, so plenty of lists were made, with bags being checked several times before he could relax and declare yourselves as prepared.
H ⇴ HEARTBEAT
You could never forget the first time Namjoon heard your baby’s heartbeat, and how quickly his tears fell. It was an overwhelming experience for you both, but the small thuds particularly touched his heart. You knew how long he’d dreamt of the moment, and to finally see it come true was everything that he’d ever wanted.
I ⇴ “I LOVE YOU”
He’d often remind you that he loved you the most whenever you were resting. It was a huge relief to him whenever he spotted you being able to rest your eyes for a few moments, and so in those peaceful moments he’d often whisper to you that he loved you, even if most of the time you were far too gone to pay attention to him.
J ⇴ JEALOUSY
More than anything, he was jealous of you throughout your pregnancy, he hated having to leave you and the bump with his busy schedule so often. He was jealous that your bump was always with you, how you’d never have to miss a kick or a wriggle because you were carrying, whilst he missed out on so many of the moments that he didn’t want to because he was the one having to spend time away from you and your baby.
K ⇴ KICKS
After feeling kicks for some time, Namjoon knows all of the spots that your baby loves to attack, and so he’ll often lay down right over those spots of your bump at night when he wants a sign of life from your baby. The left side, just at the bottom is your child’s favourite spot, and often where Namjoon will end up lying too.
L ⇴ LABOUR
You couldn’t have asked for a more supportive person than Namjoon with you during your labour. Perhaps it was the years he’d spent as a leader, caring for everyone else, but he just seemed to know exactly what to do when you needed him. When you reached the final stages of labour, the tears that fell during that first heartbeat fell again, completely overwhelmed that at last one of his biggest dreams was coming true.
M ⇴ MORNING SICKNESS
Whenever you experienced morning sickness, was another time when Namjoon was very much on the ball. He ended up carrying a hairband around his wrist so that he could run straight to you every morning and tie your hair back. All of his schedules were always pushed back so that he could be there for you during morning sickness, and only when he was sure that you were absolutely fine, would he make the journey into work.
N ⇴ NURSERY
As much as you loved Namjoon, his clumsy self was the last person that you trusted to build a nursery, and so the two of you ended up getting many of your friends and family to help you out in order to make it perfect.
O ⇴ OBSESSION
Namjoon was obsessed with your bump, whenever the two of you were together, there was very rarely a time when he wouldn’t be holding onto it or at least staring at it in complete awe of what was going on.
P ⇴ POST BIRTH
You were barely allowed to move in the first few days after your labour, Namjoon had read up especially on all of the things a husband could do in order to help his wife out. There was no way he was going to risk you hurting yourself after all that you’d gone through, much preferring to take things easy at the start.
Q ⇴ QUESTIONS
Whenever the two of you had appointment, Namjoon always made sure to show up with plenty of questions, he couldn’t help but be inquisitive, and desperate to sometimes triple check that everything really was alright.
R ⇴ RANDOM FACTS
You were aware that he’d bought a few baby items in the past before you even found out that you were pregnant, but you could never imagine just how many items you would end up finding that he kept. Namjoon had a whole box of things that he’d bought over the years, knowing that they’d be used when the time was right.
S ⇴ SCANS
In the back of his phone, Namjoon always made sure to carry your most recent scan photo with him. It was always there for him to look at, especially when he was writing a song and needing inspiration, or just missing being around the two of you because he was busy with work, he always made sure to treasure it.
T ⇴ TEST
The two of you had been planning to fall pregnant for quite some time, and so when you finally got the positive test that the two of you had been waiting for, neither of you could hide your excitement, and relief that it was finally happening for you both.
U ⇴ ULTRASOUND
Namjoon never forgot the time at one of your scans when he was given the chance to move the monitor over your bump and follow the movements of your little one on the screen.
V ⇴ VISITS
For the first few days, Namjoon was very private, he didn’t want too many visitors just in case anyone was watching. However, once you were nearing the end of your recovery, he opened up more to the idea of having people round.
W ⇴ WAITING
His patience varied day by day, if very little happened, he’d be calm, but if something significant happened, he just wouldn’t be able to keep still.
X ⇴ XXXX
When the nights got particularly difficult for you, Namjoon would always be there with a kiss to comfort you and remind you that he was right there supporting you, although there was often little he could do, he’d still make sure to stay right by your side.
Y ⇴ YOU
You were his teammate, together as a team you’d made both of your dreams come true.
Z ⇴ ZZZ
He’d always be at his most attentive at night, especially when you couldn’t sleep. He knew of the many things that would keep you up at night, so he’d do his best to eliminate as many of those as possible to help you sleep.

Whoops, I saw her and had to write for her. She didn't deserve her fate and I'm here to correct that

A = Activities (What do they like to do with their s/o? How do they spend their free time with them?
She wants to teach you how to dance and about her home planet. She's also interested in whatever hobbies you have
B = Beauty (What do they admire about their s/o? What do they think is beautiful about them?)
Sensitivity and understanding, she needs someone that gets what she went through and she loves that you do
C = Cuddling (how do they like to cuddle?)
She prefers laying side by side instead of on top of each other
D = Dreams (How do they picture their future with their s/o?)
Oola wants to keep dancing but she wants to be on a planet that isn't a desert hellhole with Hutts. She'd maybe like to get a nicer apartment on Coruscant with you and a job dancing at a nice bar before working her way up the professional ladder. She wants you to come watch her dance occasionally and cheer her on

She wants to make absolutely sure that you're both equals. She doesn't want to go back to feeling like she has no agency and she doesn't want you to feel that way either

She loves both giving and receiving gifts. Oola likes jewelry but not necklaces or chokers, it reminds her too much of Jabba. She picks up anything she thinks you might like while out and about

Oola adores it, the only time she's not holding your hand is when she's busy with something else. Good luck getting your hand away from her any other time though
I = Inspiration (Did their s/o change them or the other way around?)
You've made her more comfortable and helped her with anxiety. Escaping from the rancor was no easy feat and being around Jabba left her with some emotional scars
J = Jealousy (Do they get jealous easily? How do they deal with it?)
She only gets jealous if she thinks you're showing interest in someone else or if they're being pushy. In the moment, she gets snide with the other person and pretty much tells them to back off. She'll talk to you later when you get home
K = Kiss (Are they a good kisser?)
She is, she usually pulls you into kisses or actually leaps on you if she's energetic and happy enough. She's small enough that she's easy to hold up
L = Love Confession (How would they confess to their s/o?)
She confessed after getting another job dancing, she was so happy that she blurted it out while telling you about her new job
M = Marriage (Do they want to get married? How do they propose? What would the marriage be like?)
Not really. She loves you but she doesn't want to feel chained to you. She's still dedicated to you and the relationship though
N = Nicknames (What do they call their s/o?)
Sareen. It means sweet in Twi'leki
O = On Cloud Nine (What are they like when they are in love? Is it obvious for others? How do they express their feelings?)
She practically has hearts in her eyes when she looks at you and she sits near you. It's obvious to everyone that pays attention
P = PDA (Are they upfront about their relationship? Are they rather shy when others are watching?)
Oola is not worried about people seeing at all, she likes being able to outwardly and freely express her affection when she wants and how she wants
Q = Quirk (Some random ability they have that’s beneficial in a relationship.)
She's really knowledgeable about different customs and is capable of speaking or at least understanding several different languages thanks to being in Jabba's court
R = Romance (How romantic are they? Cliché or rather creative?)
She's very romantic but she prefers to avoid bars and restaurants for dates. She likes setting up dinners out in nature or by dim light in your home. She also likes bathing together
S = Secrets (how open are they with you?)
She's pretty open but she doesn't like talking about Jabba or being a slave much and that makes sense
T = Time (how long did it take you to get together?)
It took a little while, she was pretty skittish in the beginning. Once she figured out you weren't trying to hurt her or anything she was all for it
U = Understanding (How good do they know their partner?)
She listens to whatever you want to tell her and she's pretty intuitive
V = Value (How important is the relationship to them? What is it’s worth in comparison to other things in their life?)
You're important to her but her dancing career comes before you

Oola was incredibly excited to show you to her family back on Ryloth and introduce you to their customs. She was happier when they accepted you as their own

She's a sweetheart and very affectionate for the most part. Occasionally she gets into mood where she doesn't want to be touched thanks to her time around Jabba and his forced affection

She'll fight for you, she's tiny but she's fiesty
