✨ShadowPeach Bio Parents Bio AU Q&A! 20/09✨
Tumblr media
Welcome to the Q&A! A space where I can answer related or similar question about the Shadowpeach Bio Parents AU! If you submitted your ask anonimously, then you’ll have to check the whole post if it’s answered here, if it’s not, worry not! Your asks might have been used for a future comic or just in the queue~
@funnybadger868 ha chiesto:wait so if mk can hear macaques past can he hear wukongs for example the circlet and the spell
Yeah he could. It's now just a matter of if he wants to use this power ever again
@cryptic-theseus ha chiesto:you're paying for my therapy btw, the bill is on the way
Blame it on the gay monkies not me. It's bc of them that my life is ruined/hj
@ayrza ha chiesto:Hey!I have an important question, where do you get your sources for the AU👉🏻👈🏻p? I mean, I just recently entered the LMK fandom and I see that there are parts that are not mentioned much in the series and it frustrates me because I feel like I only watch the anime but I'm missing the manga 🫠I love your art and your work, it's amazing 🫰🏻✨
Hi! Well I' finishing to read Journey to the West (im at chapter 80) and if I need extra info or just check I go to the fandom wiki.
@feyqueen91 feyqueen91 ha chiesto:A question for your Shadowpeach Bio Parent AU (btw, I just saw your recent post for More Than A Successor Arc & I thought something light hearted was needed to even out the Angst), is Macaque able to summon something like what Red Son did with the Samadhi Sprite, and he teaches MK to do it too?
Wait what exactly? I haven't understood what you meant by sprite.
@og-glitch-punk ha chiesto: Honestly I expect this to be hidden but i also love your work on both comics, keep it up!! I forgot their names but dude- how would the lotus prince and our moon chef feels about wukong and Macaque being MK's parents? HELL. WHAT ABOUT THE TRIO? YELLOW TUSK, PENG AND THE LOIN (CANT REMMEBER HIS NAME EVEN IF HE IS TECHNICALLY DEAD/GONE). Hell even this chaotic snake man may even use MK to his advantage with the fact he is the child of Wukong and Macaque. So many possibilities and guesses, so many twists and turns we will never know bro
Oh he absolutely woud. Also about the others. They would probably act like protective aunt/uncles to that poor traumatised boy.
@thenerdnico ha chiesto:Oh my GODS that last bio dad's chapter broke me, your expressions are always amazing. I'm going to assume that at the end of Wukong's and Macaque's fight, Wukong realised Macaque wasn't moving and ran up to him, and ended up sobbing and screaming when he realised he was dead??? If that is the case, do you think MK listened to it long enough to hear that as well?
Oh for angst reason yes. He did.
@shadowpeachera ha chiesto:AHHHH YOUR SHADOWPEACH BIO AU IS SOO GOOD!!!! I SCREAMED AT THE LAST UPDATE!!! I have a question though. You know in the series i think season 3 epsiode 5 where Wukong goes into a deep mystic monkey meditation, yeah. Well i was wondering if Mk has ever tried that but got disrupted and lost his memories or started acting strange infront of his monkey parents. It would be hilarious i can imagine him shouting, “TUDI, TUDI!”KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK, no pressure though! HAVE A GOOD DAY!
Lmaooo ok ok I don't think I'll go witha small amnesia arc in the AU but this doeß sound adorable.
@sakuralotus03 ha chiesto:It will probably be quite heavy, but I suggest that after Wukong saw the monkey like that he had a huge attack of guilt and anxiety and ended up injuring his left eye with his claws
Poor baby!! Nono don't worry his eye is fine.
@raylamoongirl ha chiesto:question for macaque: what was the hardest thing to teach Mk?Lmk bio parents Q&A
Mmmm so they tried really hard to teach him shadow teleportation, but he seems to not be able to do it.
@lmkobsessedmoth ha chiesto:For the Shadowpeach Bio Parent AU What if macaque and wukong go on a date and wukong doesn’t know it’s a date because he’s as dense as the rock he hatched out of
He truly would be. May the gods give him a clue or smt otherwise we wont end up nowhere here
Anonimo ha chiesto:Hey!I love your Shadowpeach bio Parent's AU But I Wonder,Does Wukong and Macaque already dance together before?
Danced??? I think so?? When they still were lovers friends I think (i think i m missing something)
Anonimo ha chiesto:I am on my knees, heart giving out, HOW IS BABY MK SO CUTE AND SHADOWPEACH SO ALLERGIC TO JUST KISSING ALREADY LIKE COME ON YOU TWO Anonimo ha chiesto:When I read the other part where swk and mac where talking about wanting MK to view them as parents at first I thought swk was proposing having another kid with Mac and I went “WOAH HEY- HOLD UP FOR A SECOND THERE U NEED TO GET UR SHT TOGETHER FIRST” and thank god it wasn’t that I thought swk was JUMPING AND ACCELERATING THEIR PROGRESS LMAOOOSo I’m actually glad they are taking baby steps, they need them
This slowburn is gonna be so slow-burning you all are gonna die when they actually kiss (will they kiss? Oh that's just for me to know ahah)
Anonimo ha chiesto:Since macaque is called mama by mk does that mean macaque is like a mother figure to mk in your au mama macaque is adorable and he gives off motherly in his character
Anonimo ha chiesto:Whos mom if there is considered a mom by MK or only dads? Is it Wu or Mac? My headcanons is Wukong basically the mom cuz he gives off mom and dad vibes together and Macaque just gives off dad vibes to me
He gives more motherly vibes, yes (Mamacaque and DadWukong forever)
Anonimo ha chiesto:Hi in you bio parent au for monkie kid how were monkey king and macaque as teenagers when they had a good relationship were like they a romantic couple or had secret crushes on each other and never told each other or were they just friends love this au it's amazing
Oh I think they were definitely lovers once. And that makes their past and what happened even more tragic honestly.
@ayrza ha chiesto:I don't know who is more adorable: Baby MK or Macaque and Wukong blushingPsd. I love your AU and your art 💖
Both. Both is good
@diamondwolf23 ha chiesto:THOSE TWO BETTER KISSSSSSSSSSS-I’m gonna miss Baby Mk ;-
Me too. Me too.
Anonimo ha chiesto:You could say Wukong is a...... simpian?(like simian but yknow >>)
LMAO YES
@scififeather21 ha chiesto:You can't believe how much I love your Shadowpeach AU comic series that last part made me grin so much. Mostly because my husband and I have done that exact thing when our kids were small babies and the looks and smiles were the same too. OMG it such a nice thing to see after a long day at work yesterday. :)
THAT'S THE- SWEETEST THING?????? LIKE IM SO GLAD I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT A SIMILAR EXPERIENCE???? TO HEAR IT'S THE SAME THAT HAPPENED TO YOU IS THE SWEETEST THING EVER
@snsp6 ha chiesto:I love ur bio dads au! I wanted to ask what would happen if smth similar to the baby mk incident happened to the immortal monkeys.Like either they were de-aged to their youth or had an amnesia rules type of situation!(I am in love w the world building in this!!! And ur art is delectable!)
I don't thing the world would be ready for non-reformed Wukong#like-#not really reformed but the guy killed so many people bc of impulsiveness#until he learned that murder is not fine
Anonimo ha chiesto: This might be a stupid question, but for your bio parents, AU is MK just always in his monkey form, or is this just how he permanently looks now?
He's on his monkey form when he trains / stays at the weekends at FFM or when he friendly duels/train with Mei and Red Son.On weekdays he's constantly in his human form
@meisawkwardashecc ha chiesto:Is Wukong potentially shorter than Macaque? 👀🥺Avatar
Yes
@miraclecactus ha chiesto:Can you show us what's going on in the Freenoodles house? I'm looking forward to knowing how they manage to calm MK down :( Puedes mostrarnos que es lo que sucede en la casa de Freenoodles? Estoy ansiosa de conocer como ellos manejan el como calmar a MK :(
They used Wukong and Mac advices until he feel asleep.
Anonimo ha chiesto:I like how Wukong asks Macaque how he knows MK won't hate him after this. Like my guy, you literally killed Macaque, and he still hangs around I think he knows a thing or two
True. Although let Wukong be the dumbass he is.
alizardonfire ha chiesto:I love the idea of macaque being wukongs *rock* if that makes sense? It gives so much character to him.
Aaaahh ty! Yeah I feel like he's pretty good at understanding when he s just out of his mind and bring him back to earth.
Anonimo ha chiesto:If this isn't to much spoiler will the next lmk comic be angsty
This will be answered too late but I will always warn you in advance if there s angst coming.
Anonimo ha chiesto:I love your art! Lighthearted question since your about to bring the pain- do you think Mac and Wu fight over who gets to be little spoon/big spoon or are both of them 100% happy with Mac as big spoon and Wu as little spoon every night
So as for now, they are good with Wukong being the little spoon. Both bc Wukong is the the one who constantly craves for touch amd bc Macaque feels more comfortable in a position of "control" let's say. He can decide how much closer or not to get to Wukong.
Then in the future they would be more comfortable to switch (and the bicker about who should be the big or small)
@sallyvanna ha chiesto:HAIII FIRST OF ALL I LOVE YOUR BIO PARENT AU it makes my day every time I see a new page postedI was just wondering, why was macaque kinda nervous when he summoned rumble and savage? He was like 'ah shit I didn't want that-' 👀
It was because the kid would be afraid of them! Of course he wouldn't. But I guess Macaque still feels like his powers are a threat to him.
@redwrathroit ha chiesto:Hey, note this is something you can completely ignore but I wanted to know if you had a ref sheet for your monkey Bois, I'd love to take a try and drawing them plus I had made an Oc character of my own but I did it once and then art block hit me like a train and said; nah, never again. So it would really help me out if you have a ref, if not ignore this and have a nice day/night
Unfortunately I don't. I have a lot of panels where you can see them full body in various stances though.
Anonimo ha chiesto:Wukong being the little spoon is too cute, he spends years being the big spoon platonically to everyone that someone finally gave him what was needed, to be protected instead of being the protector
Yesss he iss!!!!!!
@froggyofdeath ha chiesto:Question abt Shadowpeach bio parents! Sooo, who kills the spiders, who screaming abt them, who the one who picks it up and try to scare the screaming one?🫠✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️☕️☕️☕️☕️
Mk is screaming, Wukong picks it up, Macaque kills it.
Anonimo ha chiesto:Can we see exactly when they decided to prepare the courtnapping room? Like when exactly did they know oh we need to prepare that our son has apparently followed in our footsteps
Unfortunately in this AU for now I don't plan tp draw a full spicynoodle arc as well. There will be moments for the ship as well but more like extras and side stories.
Anonimo ha chiesto:Your shadowpeach bio au reminds me of something..... I remember you saying to someone that they should Read a Son of Two Dad's. Have you read the entire thing? and the sequel?
Yes I did! Also the sequel, but i think it s in hiatus.
Anonimo ha chiesto:In you newest update for the shadowpeach parent au, that one scene of Macaque looking at Wukong as MK holds his finger kind of reminds me those flashback scenes in movies of the dead lover/wife that is looking at the main character from under a flowing blanket. I have no clue why but the image popped up in my head when I read that part of the comic lmao
I bet when they are back together they will re-create this exact image eventually
Anonimo ha chiesto:I love that Macaque is initiating contact with Wukong. Hugging him, holding his hands, cuddling with him. It makes my heart melt 🥹🥰 And Wukong is giving him opportunities to do so
He is opening the door for Mac to come closer, so that it's his choice how much he can get closer. The last thing Wukong wants is to rush things or do something that would make him more uncomfortable.
Anonimo ha chiesto:Omg! I love your art especially your shadowpeach parent bio au, it's adorable! Although I'm terrified for the next page. Anyway, my question is, why won't you let the monkey trio breathe from the trauma? 😅🥹
Bc apparently chat asked for it

GUYS
you’ll never believe what nonsense I came across while I was brainrot doomscrolling through all the books and notes on the BG3 wiki trying to find stuff I might have missed in act 2
druid self-insert romantic fanfiction about the first battle against Moonrise and Ketheric
fanfic that Halsin read and criticized!!
Okay if you played early access you shouldn’t be surprised because these books existed in EA. I’ve tried to find them in my game post patch 6 but all I can find is volume 3, which is disappointing because I was hoping to find volume 4
But as a treat, if you’re like me and completely didn’t know about this, buckle up and please enjoy the self-insert adventures of a certain “Roa” who totally isn’t Roan Featherway, a druid of Silvanus and colleague(??) of Halsin himself
———
Tumblr media
Book Draft - Volume I
The name on the inside of this faded journal suggests it belonged to a 'Roan Featherway', a druid of Silvanus.
[Neatly written chapters fill this journal. A list of what appears to be book publishers in Baldur's Gate are on the first page. The cover has a multitude of titles, all crossed out: 'The Unforeseen Alliance, volume 1', 'Druids and Harpers, a fight for good!', 'The Shadowed Evil: who dares to stand against it?'] Our hero, the [brave? mighty?] druid Roa arrives in the grove. When he received the summons from the Emerald Enclave, he knew something was afoot. Filled with druids and rangers alike, members of the Enclave are scattered across the realm. They fight to preserve the natural order, keep the elemental forces of the world in check, and do battle with those who would upset this delicate balance. They are fierce warriors, though none as fierce as Roa. Built like [an ox? A bear?], he stands head and shoulders above the crowd. The grove is buzzing with activity. Roa spots a beautiful woman with ebony hair flowing past her shoulders, her eyes as blue as a [summer's day? bluebird?]. His smile turns to a frown as he notices the crescent moon and harp pinned to her chest. By Silvanus, what was a Harper doing here?
———
Tumblr media
Book Draft - Volume II
Formed from several journals, paper scraps and, in one case, the back of an envelope, this book has been carefully glued together to form the second in a series of romance novels.
[This seems to be the second volume in a series written by an amateur novelist. The title on the cover, 'Love in Shadowed Lands', is crossed out.] The ebony-haired woman notices Roa's gaze and crosses the grove, [winking? smiling?] as she stands by the druid's side. 'I don't usually wear it out in the open,' she says, tapping the brooch on her cloak, a crescent moon and harp pinned to her chest. 'Except for special occasions.' 'What's a Harper doing in a grove of Silvanus?' Roa asks. 'Not just one.' She gestures to a group by the sacred pool. 'We're generally more cloak and dagger,' she continues, 'thwarting tyrants and [guarding? protecting?] the realm is best done in secret. But you lot have a fight on your hands. We're here to help.' 'Since when do the Emerald Enclave need a bunch of Harpers?' Roa says. 'You haven't heard?' She laughs, her laugh tinkling like a bell. 'Strap in, sweetie. We're about to take on Dark Justiciars, their demented leader Ketheric Thorm and, if we're very lucky, Shar herself.'
———
Tumblr media
Book Draft - Volume III
The third book in a series of romance novels, this once beautifully bound book has had pages ripped out, glued back in and even tied to the book's spine using a piece of twine.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
['Volume Three' is written in bold on the front. The title 'The Cost of Sorrow' is followed by a number of question marks.] 'But why?' Roa screams, the beast within barely contained. 'Why follow Shar? Why destroy Moonhaven?' Ketheric stares down [haughtily? cruelly?] at Roa as he steps over the bodies of Harpers and druids alike. 'Shar knows all.' He smiles [maliciously?]. 'She gave me a holy mission. I'm merely fulfilling it.' 'The people of Moonhaven trusted you!' Roa cries, his anger rising. 'How could you turn your Dark Justiciars on them?' Ketheric smiles, 'They needed the target practice. Can't have Shar's elite getting rusty, now can we? As for you...' a crescent blade appears in his [cruel?] hands. 'You are but one lone druid, Roa. Who are you to stand against me?' Roa forces himself to his feet, Silvanus' fury coursing through him. 'I'm your downfall. Today you die, Ketheric!'
———
And for the pièce de résistance 😮‍💨🤌
Tumblr media
Book Draft - Volume IV
The fourth volume and final novel, this book has had almost every single page ripped out, except for the last twenty or so pages.
['Shadow's Kiss' is written in bold on the front. Pages of crossed out lines have notes in the margin reading 'finale!', 'more exciting!'. The final entry reads:] 'Get out of here.' Roa whispers, clutching his side. Blood pours from his fingers, a final gift from Ketheric's blade. 'I'm not leaving you,' Selene sobs, blue eyes filling with tears. Roa cups her face. 'I won't make it out in time. But you can.' Selene presses her forehead against his. Her ebony hair falls forward, forming a curtain that envelops them both. Roa closes his eyes, a smile lifting his lips as her scent, wild roses, washes over him. 'That grappling hook. You still have it?' He asks. 'Of course. Why do you -' With the last of his strength, Roa pushes her from the balcony. He watches her fall, watches her pull the hook from her pack and expertly throw it, swinging gracefully to the ground. A mighty crack splits the floor beneath him as the tower crumbles. He smiles contentedly. Selene was safe. That's all that mattered. Epilogue: 'Selfish bastard.' Selene says, kicking the base of the grave. Balsin places a comforting hand on her shoulder. 'He was the greatest of us all,' Balsin says, a towering behemoth of a druid, although not as tall as Roa. 'We will forever honour him, for he single-handedly broke Shar's hold on the land, and helped -' [A different hand appears beneath the final entry.] Roan, you had one job. This is not a historical record of what occurred, it is poorly written romance with no basis in fact. And if I ever see the name 'Balsin' again, I will personally feed you to Ormn.
Halsin you’re such a critic
we were robbed

Kaishin secret santa 2023
Tumblr media
This is a Kaishin roleswap au for @blueamphibians! I hope you enjoy this art + my ramblings on the au underneath. Because of course, I couldn't just leave it as one piece of art haha (ehem please buckle in for preparation)
Many thanks to @dcmkkaishinevents / Mack for hosting this event, it was super fun participating and interacting with the community <3 <3 As a side note, I would absolutely recommend it to others who are considering signing up next year. Everyone is very friendly!
(Hey Blue, I had more art planned but unfortunately many things came up. But I hope you enjoy this anyways! I might draw some more for you later ^-^ Thanks so much for this prompt <3 <3)
Edit: I have decided that now you will receive a completed arts + ramblings + some WIPs behind the scene hahahaha https://www.tumblr.com/cyndraws/737208478471487488/kaishin-secret-santa-2023-extras-basically-wips?source=share
AU ramblings under the cut (ngl it's a lot):
Random details and notes that don't really fit anywhere. Mostly about the fanart:
Kaito is 1 year older than Shin and is taller than him
This scene is set over the Haido City hotel. In the distance you can see Shiriyomi Trust Hotel (can't full recognise it behind Kaito but I assure you I drew it lol), Tokyo tower (easy to spot) and Roppongi Hills Mori Tower (Just behind Shin on the right, the one with the lights in a --u-- shape) Main reference: https://www.detectiveconanworld.com/wiki/Haido_City_Hotel
I was also screaming at the Kaishin pic in ED70 throughout this LMAO.
Kaito breaks through Shinichi's mysterious KID persona in this drawing and Shinichi shyly reveals his face behind the mask. Kaito then produces a blue flower, claiming it matches Shinichi's beautiful eyes (he's also the one who bred it)
Kaito has extra pockets sewn into his uniform to carry more tricks. This wasn't really necessary in canon, but here, Kaito has to be prepared to investigate at any moment.
Lmao help me render hair *stares at Kaito's* Cool effect but not quite right. I need to go experiment later.
Kaito/Shin getting shrunk (aka Conan situation) never happens in this au. But Haibara and the other victims are still around. Haibara still lives at the professor's.
~
Background:
Yusaku was much more entangled and involved with Toichi and his fight with the Black Org. Side note but in this au, Snake is from a division of the Black Org
As a result, they both end up being killed during the fateful accident. Yes, both Shinichi and Kaito are there for it. They were going to be introduced to each other on that day, but well,,, we can see the way it ended.
It wasn't well known that the Kuroba and Kudo family were close at all. Extra vigilance was taken after the funerals to ensure their safety. Their families parted ways for the better or worse after thsi event.
Yusaku's and Toichi's friendship/rivalry included collaborating for some heists, having a second secret base in the Kudo mansion, and Yusaku donning the Night Baron costume... even if he was just hidden in a car and sending information to Toichi via an earpiece lol.
After their husbands' deaths, Yukiko and Chikage meet up occasionally and travel together in secret.
~
Shinichi:
Shinichi never became a famous detective. The years after Yusaku died in the tragic accident, Yukiko and him tried their best to move on with varying success. Shinichi's dream to become a famous detective never came to fruition.
This was because for various reasons including not having Yusaku's guiding hand to develop Shin's detective skills, was only being taken to crime scenes for a year, and of course the trauma.
After avoiding detective work as much as he could (well considering that he's still a corpse magnet), Shinichi finally starts to dig through his memories. From then, he uncovered a strange inconsistency with the logic of his father's death and starts to obsess over the idea that it was a murder.
Shin painstakingly and slowly investigates in the shadows with his *ehem* admittedly rusty detective skills and chases after the very little crumbs left by the organisation. What he uncovers is that the accident wasn't one at all, but premeditated murder by an encompassing third party.
Shinichi finally finds a lead to,,, Jii Konosuke. This takes quite a few years, and Shinichi is 15 when he confronts Jii.
Jii reveals everything after Shinichi's deduction and also mistaking him for Kaito. And such Shinichi is brought into the fold. Shinichi also makes up his mind to take on the KID mantle, greatly sympathising with the fellow teen whose father was also involved.
The years after Shinichi uncovers the truth, he learns many skills such as disguise, acting and magic from Jii and Chikage. However, his magic skills will never be on par with Kaito's.
Shinichi in this au has more acting and disguise skills from living with his mother. She passed this skills onto him, and they bonded over it to recover from their grief.
When Shinichi is 17, he officially takes on the role of KID. Chikage permanently locked the KID cave in the Kuroba house, and the KID cave settled in its new home in the Kudo mansion. Inside the second base previously used by Toichi and Yusaku.
Shinichi as KID:
Well, he's just as dramatic as Kaito in canon, but it's a different kind of dramatic. Shin is more of a mysterious and cryptic phantom thief and wears a menacing Night Baron mask. He overall speaks less, and when he does, he says a lot of dramatic lines. Like in theatre almost, with plenty of double meanings.
He takes on a lot of aspects from the Phantom Lady and Jii's interpretation of KID.
And also, I was inspired by the Black Knight, Shiragami in canon, and AngelicSentinel's fantastic fic, Heart of Eternity. I guess you could describe it as more theatrely, cool and princely. He's still very athletic (laughing at Shinichi being Tarzan as Shiragami)
Unlike Kaito, Shin's notices often involve cryptic riddles. It satisfies Shinichi's puzzle loving side and adds to his mysterious reputation.
It's funny to me how Akako's 'Demon of Light' moniker is still accurate haha
Shinichi investigates a little in the shadows and is overall a touch more hot-headed than Kaito KID
He uses a lot more gadgets to cover for his lesser magic skills. He's still learning though! A lot of them are references to Conan's and KID's in canon. Between Jii and Agasa, he gets a lot of them haha. This includes:
Mask/monocle -> voice changer, mask to cover for poker face, zoom and night vision, tracker, microphone and radio, gas mask.
Transmitter/microphone -> button stickers, bugs in general, cufflinks. In some cases, a camera but it must be asked for first. Shin uses these to cover for Kaito's doves in canon.
Wristwatch -> Clock of course for his heist times, tranquilliser, emergency flashbomb (KID has one in canon too)
Shoes -> jet powered rollerskates (equivalent to skateboard). Of course, Shin still kicks things but it looks more to take down the occasional criminal, trigger emergency traps, and more. He doesn't kick often because it doesn't really suit the image of KID + it's a unique skill to have.
+ other usual KID gadgets -> smoke, flash, sleeping bombs, grapple gun, hang glider, etc.
~
Kaito:
He's still an aspiring magician
Since there's a rising amount of cases in Beika, Kaito gets recommended by Nakamori because of his magic skills. The idea is that his knowledge of magic tricks will help uncover the criminals' tricks... Well this includes basically all cases lol. It works though! And the news of Meitantei Kaito starts to spread.
Kaito falls in love with the dramatics and triumphs of figuring out a criminal's trick. He starts to get called into Beika every time a case is discovered. One different to Shin is that Kai gets called to the cases instead of the cases coming to him.
His detective persona is like KID's in canon - flirty, dramatic, confident, charming, a bit of a pervert, and a classic showman's personality. Aoko is sick of it hahaha.
Kai's deduction show is very dramatic. He uses flashy magic tricks to reveal evidence and tricks, and uses his magic to take down criminals.
This includes his acrobatics, trusty card gun and traps he set beforehand. I like to headcanon that Kaito invented his cardgun first before integrating into KID. Kaito's cardgun includes the normal sharp cards (Kaito uses it to pin down criminals with their clothes, cut ropes, etc), tranquilliser laced cards, smoke and flash bombs. And also sleeping bombs but he uses it vary sparingly because even that toes the law a little too much... Megure is exasperated but the criminals are taken down quickly without much harm so he lets it slide
Kaito also follows in the spirit of dubious investigation. He changes his voice, uses his doves to spy on others, uses disguises (very very rarely), and is noisy overall.
Kaito and Hakuba:
Has a detective rivalry with Hakuba.
Hakuba still thinks, even in this au, that Kaito is KID. After all, Shin's profile is very similar to Kaito's. Kaito vehemently denies it but acts like a KID fan around Hakuba to annoy him. He isn't really though, citing KID's magic to be third rate, but he is still intrigued.
Hakuba offhandedly slips in wording and insinuations to Kaito's huge annoyance. You can imagine them bickering at a crime scene while Megure is just Too Used to this.
Much later on, when Kaito learns Shinichi's identity, Kaito tells Shinichi's about Hakuba's warnings. So Kaito is kinda a messenger between the two. Despite Hakuba being annoying, Kaito knows he can trust him.
~ Other character interactions:
Shinichi and Kaito:
Shinichi is still a corpse magnet. So he encounters a case, calls the police, and escapes as fast as he can after giving a witness statement. This is partly to avoid the awkwardness of meeting Megure and the police officers (he hasn't met them since his father died), as well as his new night job.
This results in the most frustrating yet amusing situation where Shin and Kaito miss meeting each other for quite a few years. Shinichi is busy hurrying off while Kaito is called to the scene and busy listening to the details.
Quick sketch I may/may not fully finish in the future:
Tumblr media
Description: Set in suburban Beika. Shinichi is at the foreground, looking at his watch and worrying about meeting Jii on time. Meanwhile, next to a police car, Megure merrily discusses case details to Kaito. Kaito is glancing over to Shinichi in curiosity while keeping an ear open. He has his hands in his pockets. Behind Megure, the scene has police tape barring entrance.
~
Kaito thinks KID is a third rate magician but can appreciate the dramatics and mysteriousness. He is Intrigued. This leads to a meeting later on. Kaito uses his connection to Nakamori.
Shinichi is of course startled by Kaito's namedrop.
... Sorry no more details/plan about their meeting. It's definitely a dramatic face off though.
Regarding Shinichi's identity reveal, I was playing around with the idea that Snake is there, threatening the two at gunpoint and sneering over the '"lovely family reunion between father and son". It would definitely spur Kaito to grill Shin for more details
~
Shinichi and Hattori:
Hattori hears about the "Meitantei of the East" and goes off to meet him and challenge him to a deduction battle. He doesn't know how to contact him, so he goes with the strat of wandering around Beika until he runs into a case. He figured that with the high rate of cases being reported, he's eventually run into Kuroba ,,, yeah hahahaha Thats his entire plan
Luckily for Hattori, his detective luck exponentially multiplies with Shin's and a scream runs out. As Shinichi is reporting the crime and tried to head off, Hattori slings an arm around his shoulders to stop him from sneaking off.
Hattori loudly greets him as Kuroba despite Shinichi's insistence that "No, I am NOT Kuroba, please get your arm off me". Insert much scepticism from Hattori.
Even after they part ways, this isn't the last they see of each other. Hattori keeps wandering around Beika while running into Shinichi. They eventually become friends huhu.
Shinichi and the Detective Boys:
The Detective Boys admire Kaito a lot. Obviously they've watched the news reports on TV. So when they see him at the park playing soccer, they glomp him HAHAH Poor Shinichi
At this point I think people mistaking Shinichi as Kaito can be a running gag. The Detective Boys keep annoying Shinichi and even attempt breaking into the 'Edo house' to see the ghosts... Shinichi is still not happy. And also, when they visit Haibara, they're basically next doors so Shinichi's never going to get them out of his life.
Despite the annoyance, he eventually becomes fond of them and takes on the big brother sort of role.
When Kaito and Shinichi get acquainted, they take the DB on outings a lot. The DB is very fond of Kaito-nii-san and Shinichi-nii-san.

Originally I was going to make a post about how, at least as of finishing Shadows of Amm with Viconia as a main party member, I don't really see Viconia's appearance in BG3 as a bastardization. But these are my own feelings and perspective as someone who started with 3 and has gone backwards, not someone who has had decades getting attached to the character. I would have pointed out how the wiki says her official redemption is only in her romance, which is gender locked, so it's kind of presumptive to make that the "canon" path. However, a lot of her endgame lines are feeling pretty redeemed. But I think the reason things still make sense to me is because I know from lore that wasn't written for the purpose of either game, Shar is a rapacious black hole who exists to make things worse for the emotionally vulnerable. You have to make a complete break with her to be able to do things like have friends. As far as I can tell, even in her romance route, Viconia doesn't question Shar. I brought her on Rasaad's quest and it was mostly her being rude instead of theological. She's like Minthara if she stayed loyal to the Absolute and Orin. Viconia isn't going to be allowed to remember fighting back to back with Charname.
Which made me realize, things would have been way better if this interpretation of the century between the Bhaalspawn saga and 3 was actually present in the game. Viconia is a caricature of her true self because Shar got her. Make it so that if you bring Jaheira and/or Misnc, there's a heartwrenching scene where they're shocked to see her and she admits that she only has the knowledge that she went on an adventure with them and no memories, before stifling her emotions. Find her diary where she recounts her fear at what Shar keeps asking of her until eventually there is none. Make her a proper foil to Shadowheart to establish how Shar is and would have always been a threat to what you have built together.

Hold On To “What If”: Overanalyzing and Rewriting Sonic Prime
aka Masterpost & References: Part One
💬 “But, Koi, Prime finished months ago…”
Hmm. What do you think I should do, Shadow?
Tumblr media
Shadow: "Determine your own destiny, just as I have."
Well, you heard the hedgehog. What better way to celebrate the Year of Shadow than by talking about the show where he had the best characterization: Sonic Prime. I may have my own bias towards the show due to a personal connection, but overall I think the show is pretty good. Animation, voice-acting, music/sound, editing, they were amazing. The writing, aside from Shadow’s character, is ok. There are definitely some good lines but there were “eh” moments as well. (We’ll get back to that.)
I thought I would give an insight into what I thought about Sonic Prime, from overanalyzing every single frame to rewriting Season 3, and finally explain whatever the hell I had on my bingo card (the one I made before Season 3 was released).
Tumblr media
Due to the image limit, this will be the masterpost for all of the sections:
References: [this post] // 2 // 3 Plot Holes (x) Connections: 1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 Bingo Card: 1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 // 6 Rewrite 1 // 2 // 3 Remaining Questions & Final Thoughts (x)
(also available in the "🌻 hold on to what if" tag down below)
⚠️ Spoilers for the whole series, all media here belong to their respective creators. ⚠️
✨//🌻//✨
Before we get into it…
As the internet is, I want to clarify some things:
1. I’m not a die-hard Sonic fan so some things may not be 100% accurate. I honestly entered into the fandom when Sonic Frontiers was announced. My first exposure to Sonic at all was the Sonic Unleashed Animated short film, “Night of the Werehog”, when I was like 14 so I caught myself up with Sonic lore in between releases of each season of Prime. Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong about anything.
2. There's this whole debacle on whether or not Prime is part of the canon. News has recently been brought up that the Prime Team didn't acknowledge the comments made by Ian and the lore team about inconsistencies. It didn't surprise me at all. The show wasn't going to be part of the canon to begin with, which was abundantly clear by the show's writing. It feels like the writers copied from a wiki. There were so many scenes where instead of taking the moment to breathe and have character development, they put fighting scenes, more so in season three.
💬 "What about the references, Shadow's characterization, etc?"
Actually, we wouldn't have them if not for some of the crew fighting SO hard to get that into the show. The animators, storyboard artists, voice actors, editors, and many others — some are legit Sonic fans and others wanted to please the fandom. They have done such a great service to the fans with what they could, so could we just give a round of applause to the creative crew behind this? 👏👏👏 To the crew, you did what you could for us, and we can’t thank you enough.
Tumblr media
Back to the whole "canon" thing, for this essay, we'll treat Prime as a stand-alone thing unless we absolutely have to affiliate it with canon.
3. Netflix did the weird thing of splitting up all the episodes of the series and called them “seasons”. I personally call them “batches” and I know there are some people who do the same, but for our sakes, they’ll be referred to as seasons, just so we don’t get confused. Okay? Cool!
Finally, this is for funsies, don’t take this too seriously. I want to establish that I have nothing against the people behind Prime or anyone else.
So grab your snacks, and get comfy. Now, let’s lock in, chat!

Hey! Decided to shoot you this question as you're the resident expert:
On the BG3 wiki, I was looking at the Sorrow glaive (current iteration, not the one with the Isobel questline) and a note on it said that the Druid Notebook by Halsin's bed implies the glaive used to be Ketheric's. So I went to look at the notebook:
[This is an ancient notebook, whose ink is faded and pages are starting to crumble. It's not easy, but some words can still be made out.] Ketheric is finished, but it cost us the land. Darkness has fallen, corruption is everywhere. [...] ...chased by shadows, picking us off, druids and Harpers alike. [...] ...our wounded were safe, I returned, searching for survivors... [...] ...lost, but I found his shade. I put it to rest and took his glaive... [...] ...blade infused with shadow. I have locked it away, to serve as a reminder that even victory can taste bitter.
I feel as if this is referencing a victim of Ketheric's rather than Ketheric himself? The implication I got, between this and Halsin's backstory, is that maybe the glaive was the last Archdruid's and Halsin took it from him after killing his mentor's Shadowcursed self. Am I missing context?
Hello, and thank you! That is kind to say <3
I think it was the previous Archdruid's glaive, yeah! In the full release version, the story is that the previous Archdruid led the battle, and after losing, Ketheric cursed the land. Halsin evacuated as many as possible, while blaming himself for the curse, and eventually returned looking for more survivors. He found the Archdruid's shade, mercy-killed it, and took the Sorrow glaive to remind himself of what he lost.
In the Early Release version, it was much more complicated. Sorrow was Halsin's blade. They were getting ready to fight when a curse (presumably Shar's doing) caused everyone to become frenzied. (It is unclear whether the previous Archdruid even existed in this incarnation- it seems like Halsin was already).
This started with Isobel, who attacked Halsin. In self-defense, Halsin killed her. This caused Ketheric to unleash the curse out of sheer grief. The reason the blade fills the holder with so much regret, and deals psychic damage to the user, is because Halsin's trauma and regret was so immense that it gained a physical form by latching onto the blade. There were notes about him suspecting Selune had cursed the blade in the aftermath of Isobel's death, and he locked it away both because he never wanted to be reminded of the battle again and because he feared its power in the wrong person's hands.
Hope that helps! <3

I got a new piece of dialogue with The Emperor that I didn't get in previous playthroughs.
In the cutscene with the guardian after you enter the shadow cursed lands, you can hold them in your arms.
The guardian will admit that it was a long time since someone hugged them. If you ask who that person was, the guardian will tell you that it was Belynne (Stelmane).
In Act 3, Empy will tell you that they weren't romantic, but it's odd that they held each other and he kept a portrait of her in his old hideout under the Elfsong.
This could mean that:
He felt a romantic connection with her, but tries to forget it/hide it because he feels guilty that he caused her to have a stroke from the mind control.
He felt a romantic connection with her, but denies it because a mind flayer and a human shouldn't be together.
He felt the same connection and closeness any mind flayer feels with their pets thralls, but doesn't consider it romantic.
For 1 and 2, I think Balduran's personality and ideals sort of express themselves. Balduran and the Emperor value freedom above all else. By enthralling Stelmane, he is being hypocritical. His mind flayer nature leads him to believe that mind flayers are inherently superior to other races, making everyone else a pawn. In taking that freedom from Stelmane, he caused her to die, which is in conflict with his personality as Balduran. I don't know if he wanted to hide her death because it was another way to manipulate the PC into working with him, or if he hides it because he feels some sort of cognitive dissonance from his actions.
I wonder if that's why he tries to convince the PC to become illithid as well. He doesn't want to make the same mistake twice and have the PC die from mind control like Stelmane. If Empy wanted to enthrall the PC, it would be easier for him to enthrall them if they remained humanoid. Instead, he wants the PC to become the same as him as an equal. In his mind, an equal would be illithid.
I don't think the Emperor likes to enthrall people at all and Stelmane was a lesson learned. If he wanted to enthrall the PC, he would have done it already, but he never does. Even if the PC fights with him and he threatens to enthrall the PC to cooperate, it never happens. It was just an empty threat.
For 3, the Forgotten Realms wiki says this about mind flayers and their thralls:
The illithids had to dominate not only to achieve their goals, but to fulfill certain basic needs of their own. Without a mind to control, a mind flayer would feel incomplete. They actually had an intimate relationship with their own thralls, suffering when they died (whether by sickness, age, or physical harm) and sometimes going mad from loneliness without their constant companionship. Illithids were known to postpone their other goals just to renew an emptied retinue of thralls[23] and every illithid had at least one personal thrall. When they found one they favored, illithids would go out of their way not to eat personal thralls in bouts of hunger or anger, and might even grant them toys and trinkets to occupy themselves with when not working.
This reminds me a lot the relationship people have with their pets. I wonder if he just saw Stelmane as his pet who died.
It's my headcanon that the Emperor is just super lonely and wants another illithid companion that has the same ideals as him. He doesn't want a thrall, but a real companion. He can have a pet-like relationship with a thrall, but it's still lesser than a relationship where someone chooses to be with him and works on the same level as him.

This is how I’ve been building Shadowheart in my past few playthroughs! Unfortunately, this build is not very thematic for a Cleric of Shar – but it does do a lot of the legwork in Act 2. This build is particularly thematic for a Cleric of Lathander, Corellon Larethian, Eilistraee, and Helm, who are all Light Domain deities… and, due to this build’s effectiveness in Act 2, possibly Selûne. 💡✨
The goal of this Light Domain Cleric is to deal Radiant Damage and apply the Radiating Orb condition to anything that dares to enter Shadowheart’s general vicinity. The undead fear her; shadows evaporate in her presence. It is glorious. I now refuse to play Act 2 without my beloved Radiating Orb Beyblade of Death (Shadowheart). 😁
The focus for this guide is on ability scores and gear interaction. Some of this gear includes the Luminous Armor (Act 1), the Blood of Lathander (Act 1), and Luminous Gloves (Act 2).
This Light Domain Cleric build is phenomenal in Act 2, but still does enough damage output to carry its weight in Acts 1 and 3. Light Domain’s special Channel Divinity action, Radiance of the Dawn, is excellent when dealing with clusters of Invisible enemies (such as Duergar, Shadow Creatures, and Bhaalists).
(Fair warning: Possible spoilers ahead!)
Leveling
Please note that this guide is really just my personal preference! I recommend fully reading through the Wiki page on BG3’s Cleric so you get a good idea of what this class can do. In this guide, I’ve added a star (⭐) next to each of the class features or spells that I especially like.
To start with, I’ll recommend these base stats:
Tumblr media
In the early game (Act 1), it’s a good idea to keep Shadowheart’s Wisdom and Dexterity Ability Scores up. Wisdom affects Shadowheart’s spellcasting effectiveness, while Dexterity affects her Armor Class (AC) and Initiative in combat.
But the most important score for this build (after Wisdom) is Constitution. The first feat I recommend addresses this (Resilient), as do my preferred boots on her (Boots of Striding).
The Cleric class has prepared spells, so I’ll just make a note of the feats I take in this section!
Level 4
Feat: Resilient = Constitution
By taking the Resilient Feat, Shadowheart gains +1 to her Constitution Ability Score as well as proficiency in Constitution Saving Throws. This will help her maintain Concentration spells such as Spirit Guardians.
Level 8
Feat: Ability Score (ASI) = +2 WIS
Level 12
Feat: Ability Score (ASI) = +2 WIS
Honor Mode
The above is a pretty good set-up for the Explorer, Balanced, and Tactician difficulties. However, if you’d like to make Tactician mode easier on yourself or you’re planning on taking her to Honor Mode, I’d recommend the following set-up instead:
Tumblr media
Level 4
Feat: Ability Score (ASI) = +1 CON, +1 WIS
Level 8
Feat: Alert ⭐
Level 12
Feat: Ability Score (ASI) = +2 WIS, or
Feat: War Caster (Advantage on Constitution Saving Throws to maintain Concentration)
In Honor Mode, having high Initiative can make a huge difference, especially when fights get more intense – hence the Alert Feat at Level 8!
Final Composition
By Level 12, Shadowheart can have the following notable qualities:
Tumblr media
Due to Light Domain, Shadowheart will have:
Warding Flare (Level 1) – As Shadowheart levels up, she’ll eventually have Improved Warding Flare (Level 6), which allows her to use a Reaction to impose Disadvantage on an Attack Roll against either herself or an ally.
Potent Spellcasting (Level 8) – Add your Wisdom Modifier to the Damage of your Cleric Cantrips.
Access to select non-Cleric spells – Flaming Sphere, Scorching Ray, Fireball, Wall of Fire, and Destructive Wave.
Recommended Spells List
The following list are the Cleric spells I tend to favor. Because Light Domain Clerics have a lot of great offensive spells (hello, Fireball and Flame Strike!), I usually have Shadowheart running offensive rather than defensive (healing, buffs). She’s like a fake Evocation Wizard, haha.
Tumblr media
Basically, I tend to favor (usually AOE) spells that deal some amount of Radiant Damage. While Sacred Flame is notoriously easy for enemies to Save on, its Damage does eventually scale with your Cleric level, making it comparable to a Guiding Bolt by Level 8.
A good Fireball every once in a while doesn’t hurt, either. 🤭
Gear
The goal of this gear selection is to broadcast Radiant Damage (and therefore Radiating Orbs) to as wide a range of enemies as possible. To do this, I favor Radiance of the Dawn, which is the Channel Divinity action specific to Light Domain Clerics. Notably, like Spirit Guardians, Radiance of the Dawn only harms hostile creatures and will not damage (or inflict Radiating Orbs upon) your allies.
Spirit Guardians is also a very reliable source of mass Radiant Damage. Spirit Guardians requires Concentration to maintain, hence this guide’s emphasis on bolstering Constitution Saving Throws.
ℹ️ "But why the emphasis on Radiating Orbs?" you may be wondering. Radiating Orb inflicts a -1 to Attack Rolls on the affected entity (not bad!!), and causes them to emit Light. The Light is great when you're in a dark environment but someone on your team (eg. Human, Githyanki, etc.) doesn't have Darkvision.
Headwear: Holy Lance Helm
Smite the Graceless: Creatures that miss Attack Rolls against the wearer must make a DC14 Dexterity Saving Throw or take 1d4 Radiant Damage.
+1 to Constitution Saving Throws.
Armor: Luminous Armor
Radiating Shockwave: Whenever the wearer deals Radiant Damage, they cause a Radiant Shockwave (inflict Radiating Orb in a 3m/10ft radius).
Cloak: Vivacious Cloak
Arcane Vivaciousness: Gain 8 temporary HP for four turns after casting a spell while in melee.
In order to cast Spirit Guardians to full effect, Shadowheart will be in melee. Alternatively, the Cloak of the Weave is powerful on any caster.
Handwear: Luminous Gloves
Radiating Orb Gloves: When the wearer deals Radiant Damage, the target receives one turn of Radiating Orb.
+1 to Strength Saving Throws
Footwear: Boots of Striding
Focused Stride: When you cast a spell that requires Concentration, you gain Momentum for one turn. While Concentrating, you cannot be pushed or knocked Prone.
Shadowheart will often be Concentrating if your combat priority is casting Spirit Guardians.
Amulet: Amulet of the Devout
High Spellcasting: +2 to Spell Save DC.
Godswill: One additional use of Channel Divinity per Long Rest.
An additional use of Channel Divinity gives Shadowheart an extra charge of Radiance of the Dawn.
Ring A: Coruscation Ring
Arcane Radiance: When the wearer deals spell damage while illuminated by a light source, they inflict Radiating Orb on the target for two turns.
If Shadowheart is carrying the Blood of Lathander, she will always be illuminated.
Ring B: Callous Glow Ring
Callous Glow: Deal an additional 2 points of Radiant Damage against illuminated creatures
If Shadowheart is carrying the Blood of Lathander, all creatures near her will be illuminated.
Melee Main Hand: The Blood of Lathander
Lathander’s Blessing: Once per Long Rest, when your HP is reduced to 0, you regain 2d6 HP. Allies within 9m / 30ft also regain 1d6 HP.
Lathander’s Light: Sheds holy light within a 6m / 20ft radius. Fiends and undead in this light are blinded if they fail a DC14 Constitution Saving Throw.
Sunbeam (Level 6): Cast for one turn once per Long Rest.
Because the Blood of Lathander as a mace does relatively low damage, Shadowheart should be carrying it as a passive buffer/debuffer rather than as a melee weapon. Sunbeam is nothing to sniff at, either.
Alternatively, you could try The Sacred Star or the Moonlight Glaive.
Melee Off Hand: Shield of Devotion
Additional Spell Slot: Gain an additional Level 1 spell slot.
Shield Bash: Use a Reaction to possibly knock an enemy Prone.
Shield of Devotion: Aid: Cast a Level 3 Aid once per Long Rest.
+2 to AC.
This is a great shield on any Cleric! An additional Level 1 spell slot essentially gives you an extra low-level (but potentially clutch) Healing Word or Guiding Bolt.
Alternatively, you may want to use Ketheric’s Shield (great for casters in general) or Viconia’s Walking Fortress (great in general).
Ranged Main Hand: Bow of the Banshee
Blood-Curdling Emission: On a hit, possibly inflict Frightened. Gain a +1d4 bonus to Attack and Damage Rolls against Frightened creatures.
While Shadowheart may rarely, if ever, use a bow instead of a spell attack, the Bow of the Banshee is a really excellent clutch weapon. Since it’s just a shortbow, it may not be extremely useful on your more dedicated archers (who may prefer heavy crossbows, longbows, or hand crossbows); as such, it’s good to have on a character who’ll only be using their Ranged Weapon situationally.
A nice Sharran bow for Shadowheart is also the Least Expected, which is especially great on a stealth-based team.
Ranged Off Hand: N/A
Number Crunching
The following table should give you an idea of how Shadowheart performs on the battlefield as a result of her gear synergy. This table assumes that Shadowheart is Level 12.
Tumblr media
She’ll also have up to 7 charges of Radiance of the Dawn per Long Rest. (2 at the start of the day, 2 after each Short Rest (for 4 more), plus 1 from the Amulet of the Devout.)
While it’s difficult to say how much DPR Shadowheart can consistently dole out, this is a very effective build for debuffing your enemies and reliably picking off any stragglers.
Conclusion
A Light Domain Cleric is a great option for an offensive Cleric, but at the end of the day, she’s still a Cleric and will perform best as a complement to your team, rather than as its star player. By debuffing enemies, Shadowheart sets your high DPR characters (like Fighter Lae’zel 😎) up for success on the battlefield.
This build also works pretty well for any Cleric, but works especially well on a Light Cleric! You may have noticed that I mentioned Radiance of the Dawn one billion times throughout this guide… but it really is very good, haha.
If you feel that this build has too many Radiating Orbs (😂), good gear items that are still synergetic with a Light Cleric include:
Boots of Stormy Clamor, Gloves of Belligerent Skies, and/or Spineshudder Amulet with the Thunderskin Cloak
Boots of Speed, Haste Helm, and/or Crusher’s Ring for battlefield mobility (if you favor Spirit Guardians)
Additionally, you can find an alternative r/BG3Builds guide to Radiating Orb stacking here.
Thanks for reading, and hope this gave you some ideas for your Cleric or Radiant Damage builds! :)

🌸 残桜 -zanka- English Translation
Recently I’ve been thinking a lot about Zansakura -zanka-, one of Komaeda’s character songs written and sung by Megumi Ogata, and so I started digging deeper into the lyrics only to notice there were a good handful of nuances that the English translation on the wiki didn’t quite capture. I’ve loved this song for a long time, and I thought I might try my hand at a quick translation of my own.
(Disclaimer: Though I’m studying Japanese, I am far from an expert, and I’m fairly new to translating Japanese songs. I will have surely made mistakes—if anyone more knowledgeable might disagree with a choice or see something I missed, I would love if you pointed it out!)
🌸 Lyrics
“See you again tomorrow,” I laughed—within my heart, transient cherry blossoms
A misty cloud of flowers with the hues of rising smoke beckoned me—as I finally managed to arrive,
A flower’s shadow wavered over the ripples in the water, then Fell [1]
Like the cherry blossoms opening as if to convey warmth
This life [2] that blooms in ordinariness and flutters down
Where will it land?
The hand of the ticking clock stops—from a heart in full bloom, a rain of cherry blossoms
A storm of flowers, a sudden wind—as I stopped still and opened my eyes,
Rafts of flowers had covered the surface of the water, drifting away
Like the cherry blossoms opening as if to mourn the passing spring
To live an ordinary life, and to die together [3]
If that could come true—alas…
If only the North Wind and the Sun showered down on everyone equally
When, after surmounting the storm, a great flower blooms—Hope— [4]
Before I knew it, just a single thing remained [5] for that withering branch
Plucked of its flowers and in decay, the wounds keep on thirsting, yearning
For the sake of the cherry blossoms opening as if to fight the coming winter
Until the day this ordinary life receives water [6]
It will continue blooming out of season…
🌸 Notes
[1] Written with an alternative character for “fall” that appears only here in the song, and that suggests not only falling, but also degrading or going astray.
[2] Written as “life”, but sung as “way/path”.
[3] The object of “together” is unclear—it could refer to dying along with the spring, or with another person. Discussed a little more here.
[4] Written as “big flower”, but sung as “hope”.
[5] Written with the same character for “remaining” used in the title.
[6] The verb is “to be watered/poured”. I was unsure. The previous translation went with “until the day this ordinary life is devoted”, i.e. the life itself is what gets poured out. But I think my interpretation might also work with the extended metaphor here.

Salazon Reference
Overall:
Zhentarim wizard found booby-trapping the surface entrance to a Zhentarim hideout in Waukeen's Rest. He is initially intimidated by the player character (he thinks they're a Fist) and tries to sneak up on them, but warms up quickly.
Sal is the demolitions expert, according to dev notes. Presumably he is the one who masterminds the oil and smokepowder around the Zhent hideout, and the one who is meant to detonate it (he readies firebolt if threatened)
The dev notes also describe him as starting off panicked, frantic, nervous, etc, the (once you're friends) as chummy, sheepish.
Also, there's cut/bugged content around him. If you save Rugan and do not take the shipment, Rugan was supposed to show up in act 3 and tell you the rest of the group was framed and hung for the kidnapping of Duke Ulder.
Doesn't want to fight/die:
'Little serpent, long shadow.' Don't want to die. 'Little serpent, long shadow.' Just say it! - says this if you read his mind before giving the passcode. Dev notes say, "Frantically repeating this over and over in his mind - it's a pass phrase he is repeating in his head, willing us to say it so he doesn't have to fight"
B-burn, bastard! Zarys! / ZARYS, HELP! - says if a fight breaks out. Dev notes here say, "Now he's panicking and setting off a detonation" and "Calling to his boss for protection like a child"
If the player character tells him to wait, he freezes and waits
According to the BG3 wiki, he doesn't become hostile if you fight the Zhents in the basement
Dev note: "Frightened and pretending not to be, hearing us out. He doesn't want to fight really."
Compartmentalizes:
Apologies for, er, trying to kill you before. (Dev notes say, "Sheepish - he tried to blow you up a minute before, but knows you're a friend now and is glad you survived")
You're a friend of the family now. Just as well I didn't blow you up, eh? (Dev notes say, "Chummy - he was ready to kill you just a few moments before but knows you're an ally now")
Gah, Helm's orbs. Thought you were Flaming Fist. (Dev notes say, "He goes from jumpy to relieved - we know the pass phrase so he won't have to get in a fight")
Still a criminal (noting because I'm so tempted to write him as secretly uwu good, haha)
The player character can show him a rouge hand-sign for "profit" and he recognizes it and trusts you
Dev notes: "Realising we're from a similar criminal organisation - trusting us slightly more, but only about as much as one thief ever trusts another"
Better to the fire than the Fist - dev notes say, "He's sad to be leaving valuables behind, but he knows he's going to burn them rather than give them over to a rival faction"
If you free Rugan from Zarys, Sal will say, "He's legging it! After him!"
Misc:
If you convince him to let you in to trade, he say, "I'm sure Zarys won't turn down a deal." He's wrong, she will turn it down if you don't persuade her.
Phrases:

I know you like these, I know I like these (your thoughts are so nice, well formulated and pls ramble all you like)
what is your unpopular opinion on Azriel?
what is your romantic OTP for Eris?
what is my platonic OTP for Cassian?
I DO LOVE THESE AND IT MAKES ME SO HAPPY WHEN YOU SEND THEM!!! 🥹
For this ask game.
1. What is your unpopular opinion on Azriel?
I need to disclaim that I haven’t finished the series, read the bonus chapters and interact with Azriel in fandom except through the shipping wars that come across my feed or Azris.
Personally, I have two opinions that might feel unpopular.
The first is that I think Azriel’s relationship towards his brothers lacks depth and needs to be explored in the sense that his first set of brothers tortured him, and then Rhysand took him in only for Rhysand and Cassian to bully him. The wiki technically says that they stopped fighting when they realized they needed to work together to survive, but that begs the question—why didn’t Rhysand’s mother step in? Couldn’t she see his hands? She was supposed to be a friend of his mother’s but why didn’t his mother get saved or at least taken to Velaris?
I think that if Tamlin doesn’t get the tools to deal with his trauma, then the same should be true for other characters. Azriel especially because in comparison, Rhysand has everything and Azriel gets relegated to the shadows by his father? There’s potential for a lot of resentment there.
The second might get me in trouble with the fandom so I just wanna be clear I am taking no sides when I say this. I feel like Azriel’s concern about three sisters for three brothers likely stems from trauma (as mentioned above) and the idea of a mate—someone who wants you unconditionally, above all else, is appealing to MANY people both in and outside of fiction, especially for people who have experience abandonment, feel unworthy and unwanted, etc. I think it’s less about who and more about when for Azriel.
Either way, I think it’s fantastic for him to be making connections with people outside of his brothers. It’ll be good for him and open his mind to different perspectives of the world and of himself.
I could be missing information but that’s what jumps out to me.
2. What is your romantic OTP for Eris?
Keeping in mind the many disclaimers above, I think Neris is a great dynamic. I’m disappointed that canon Nessian didn’t play out the way I imagined.
While I do like Azris, the dynamic I prefer personally is something closer to Cassian x Eris which has more bite than Azris and Lussian. That said, I haven’t explore much with Eris so take this with a grain of salt.
3. What is my platonic OTP for Cassian?
THE BEST HIMBROSHIP OF ALL TIME: TAMLIN X CASSIAN. I WILL DIE ON THIS HILL I AM BEGGING THE WORLD TO SEE THE VISION 🙌

Schen Karr is the oldest of the samurai. I don't care that his wiki page says 21, I feel like he's closer to 30 when he makes his first appearance. For perspective, Mifune would have to be pushing 50, at least (he is listed as an Elder of Iron Maiden, a Samurai High Master, and one of the Five Knights; he's not younger than 30).
I think 21 was when Schen married his wife.
When I wrote my own lore about Schen's past in Two of Cups, and I used this headcanon to build it. Assuming he was trained through childhood and his early teenage years in the "shadow school" form of combat, he pledged his loyalty to the late king by adulthood, so let's say 18.
Marie was a priestess in the samurai order already. Let's assume she's about the same age as Schen to make it simple.
They got married at 21.
Here's where it gets sticky though. Marie was killed before the canon timeline, which means she bit the sword sometime between Dark Schneider fell in the fight against the Five Kings and his first reappearance. That's 15 years of what-ifs.
So let's circle back to Mifune and say he's 50. That means at 35 he helped defeat Dark Schneider. Sounds reasonable. If Schen is pushing 30 by his first appearance, then he was 15 when this battle happened, maybe even reaching his end of the road in the Shadow School of training. So that means that 3 years would have passed before he ever met Marie, 6 before they were married.
Which leaves 6 years that are unaccounted for. I don't think Schen would be as calm about losing his wife if he'd lost her right before his first appearance. It doesn't even come off like he just lost her in the writing either, just that he's seeking revenge. That said, I'd wager that Marie was killed right before their third wedding anniversary.
In Two of Cups, Schen mentions that they were talking about children before her death. Three years seems to be a good time to start considering kids more seriously. She could have been ready to pass off her responsibilities by then to the next person to guard the Soul Eater sword - the opportune time for 'someone' to steal it. Was it intentional to target Marie, or was she just in the way of a goal? That's debatable and I could write a whole other post.
Point is, Schen has had a little over 4 years to grieve. His rage is there, but he's more calm. He wants revenge, but he's not about to flatten a kingdom for the head of one man. This is not a typical 21 year old. And if you don't believe me, look at Joshua, who is also listed as 21.
Schen is essentially a man set in his ways. He doesn't think of himself on the same level as the other samurai (I think he even mused that the younger guys needed to grow up when they said Yoko was hot). It's not just because he's been married and lost his wife. He's aged from experiences and has hit the point of not wanting to deal with bullshit.

P3R Opening Aikoto Thoughts
I finished working so I can finally sink my teeth into this Aigis sequence!
Tumblr media
This post will contain spoilers about Persona 3, The Answer and Arena, so it'd probably be a good idea to skip it if you haven't played them yet!
So, first things first:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Aigis' sequence begins with her falling to her knees, looking pretty roughened up. The Moonlight Bridge being the background tells us all we need to know about the setting: this takes place during her battle with Death/Ryoji. As if to make it even more obvious, her sequence directly follows Ryoji's (which, let it be known, is hands-down the best shot in the opening).
Tumblr media
Now, the question is... which fight are we witnessing, exactly? As we know, Aigis fights him twice. She fights him as Death 10 years ago, and then as Ryoji during the course of the game.
I think the opening sequence is meant to be the first fight: the one against Death, because we see Aigis falling asleep at the end of it. But I'll get back to that later. For now, assuming that it's that first fight helps contextualize the shots that follow:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Aigis is surrounded by the 13 arcana while the Fool lies right in front of her. The 13 arcana are, of course, the 12 shadows that Death was split into and Death itself.
And this is when the Aikoto comes in, because I believe this sequence is meant to serve two purposes at once: Symbolism and foreshadowing.
On one hand, they symbolize Aigis' meeting with Makoto in the Moonlight Bridge 13 years ago. The Fool represents him, both as the child that she had to seal Death into and as the boy that she swore to protect.
On the other hand, I feel that the fact that they chose to set the scene this way also serves as a nod to The Answer. After all, if this were simply meant to symbolize Aigis sealing Death into Makoto, then Death should've been right in the middle alongside him. Instead it's just The Fool, because the Moonlight Bridge is the place where both — Makoto's and Aigis' journeys began.
And Aigis journey began with Makoto and ended with her becoming the Fool and carrying his legacy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Coincidentally, these seem to be the lyrics during the portion Aigis is on screen (credit to the Wiki):
No matter how far (No matter how far) How you go (How you go, how you go) How long you may last (F* tears, no time to waste) It's your life, burn your dread
This is not the first time Atlus references The Answer in an Opening. Burn my Dread foreshadows The Answer, and even Our Moment features a reference to it.
As such, it doesn't mean that we will see a The Answer re-release. All it means is that Atlus acknowledges its existence and, above all, the journey that Aigis goes through during it.
Now, back to Makoto! If you look closely at Aigis' expression, you will see that she looks sad, guilty even, as she looks down at the card representing him.
Tumblr media
We also see this shot lingering and Aigis' pupil contracting right before she closes her eyes, which to me represents the fact that Makoto — and what she had to do to him — were likely the last thing she thought about before she fell into her deep slumber.
Coincidentally, the only ones that are within Aigis' eye — and thus, her focus — are herself and the Fool.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This, in turn, ties in not only with P3, where Aigis wakes up from her slumber when Makoto arrives to Yakushima:
Tumblr media
It also ties in with The Answer:
Tumblr media
And even with Arena. After all, thanks to Arena, we have an idea of what it is that Aigis thought about as she fell into her deep slumber. Or rather, what she wished for:
Tumblr media
Aigis' sequence in the opening (the longest one after Makoto, if I'm not mistaken), ends with her falling asleep, her Papillon Heart shining brightly in the dark.
Tumblr media
And of course, once she finally opens her eyes 10 years later, we get...

you cant just threaten me with narrative parallels to big boss and not deliver. i need this
AHEHEHEE....( •̀ ω •́ )✧ Ive spent all noon going insane over char and ive listened 3 times to beyond the time, so you chose the perfect time for this.... Okay. so basically,
Tumblr media
meme comic aside, here's a more structured and elaborated version of these points, taken from something that I wrote in my notes app at 2 am, plus some other points. Sorry if this doesn't make sense. Im not good at putting my thoughts into words.
----------------------
-they are both soldiers who end up being idolized and turned into a symbol. this idolization makes people want them to be in a position of leadership.
-being better known for their nom de guerre, "the red comet/char aznable" (which also counts as this, since it's a fake name tied to his identity in the one-year war) and "big boss", adds to this idealization, and with it also comes depersonalization, as their identity becomes just an image of a war hero that exists in peoples heads. a legend, rather than a real person.
-the artificiality of this legend is brought home in the way that it is taken, replicated, and put into other people, showing that anyone can be "the red comet" or "big boss". that's right baby. clones! Be it The Patriots making supersoldier clones of big boss for war purposes or Sunrise making Char after Char for anime purposes. But Char does also have actual in-universe clones???
-And also phantoms... the much clearer example of the artificiality of these legends/identities. I don't know anything abt Gundam Unicorn and so the only things I know abt Full Frontal are from the wiki. but he's just Venom Snake. Hey, what if we took this random guy and altered his appearance and mind to be the red comet/big boss?
-Okay its time to talk about The Boss and Zeon Deikun. Their deaths turn them both into symbols that represent the ideals that they preached. Ideals that everyone else takes and misinterprets for their own purposes. Their deaths also kickstart Big Boss and Char´s...everything. In a way, both Big Boss and Char dedicate their lives fighting for the ideals that their mother/father represented. Are they any good at this? Or are they yet another person taking these ideals and twisting them beyond recognition? Let´s say that´s up for debate.
-"So both Char and Big Boss ended up being idolized just like The Boss and Zeon Deikun? Even though it's something that they did not want and tried to avoid?" YES! Unavoidable fate. Repeating mistakes of the past...Sins of the Father... one of the key themes of Metal Gear. THE theme of metal gear. Big Boss more consciously tried to avoid the fate of The Boss by leaving the US military and hated being seen as a hero/called Big Boss because of The Boss. Char never outright states that the reason he does not want leadership is because he does not want to suffer his father´s fate...but his choice of accepting leadership is tied into his father´s fate nonetheless, with "Maybe human sacrifices run in your family" and Char casting himself as that human sacrifice in Char´s Counterattack. Is the reason as to why thinking about Char makes me so insane because his narrative of not being able to escape his father´s shadow taps into one of Metal Gears main themes? who knows...
-I said that Char´s "The Boss" figure is Zeon Deikun...but I think Lalah is the emotional aspect of this. She is the more clear Mother Figure whose death scars and haunts Char the way The Boss haunts Big Boss. Yes, Char also lost his real mom when young but shes not as important as Lalah.
-They just miss their mom bro :(
-cue millions of jokes about Oedipus complexes (more prevalent in the gundam fandom. for some reason.)...not gonna comment on this but they are there. and I can't ignore it if I'm talking abt comparisons between them.
-Okay, mothers/fathers talk aside. Their relationship to war and conflict. Not much else to say that I didn't say in the image. Its all they know and and all they think themselves capable of. Though thinking about their similarities on this did remind me of something that Beltorchika said in Zeta about Char, about how she thinks he's someone who is incapable of living without war and how definitely similar things are directly said about big boss in metal gear. there's more to this and about whether this is true and why...but my eyes are starting to hurt. I need to finish this.
-Lets go back to leadership. despite the fact that they both do not initially want this position of power, they do eventually give into it to help soldiers/Spacenoids respectively. Big Boss wants soldiers to not be used by governments like he was used (but he does end up using them nonetheless. oops) and Char wants Spacenoid independence from the Federation, although Char´s motivations in cca are more complex than just this, I do believe part of him does genuinely see helping spacenoids as his "duty" and something he needs to sacrifice himself for.Okay that was my last big point. finally this is done. more stuff:
-the_man_who_sold_the_world.mp3
-I don't know. all war criminals know these days is be bisexual and lie. <- all there is to say abt their heavy homoerotic subtext. which yes they also both individually have. although big boss´ is stronger bc he's in metal gear. I also can't ignore it. It's still a character aspect.
-forgot abt Quess...use of child soldiers ig. awesome.

Advisors /  Dragon Age Inquisition Polls
See quest and choice descriptions from Dragon Age Wiki/Keep below
Perseverance is Cullen's personal quest in Dragon Age: Inquisition.
Cullen will throw his lyrium kit off the desk in a fit of rage. He tells you about his past, about being tortured by demons at the Circle in Ferelden, and how it's changed him. He further explains how his experiences in Kirkwall and Meredith's madness have affected him. He says that he should give as much to the Inquisition as he did to the Chantry, and concludes that he should take lyrium.
Didn't talk to Cullen about lyrium
The Inquisitor did not talk to Cullen about his lyrium use.
2. Told Cullen to use lyrium
Needing the commander at his best, the Inquisitor encouraged Cullen to resume using lyrium.
If you romance him, urge him to take lyrium again and re-affirm that choice later, Cullen will break up with the Inquisitor.
Epilogue for Trespasser:
Taking lyrium, Inquisition peacekeeping force
Cullen seemed to tire of his duties after the Inquisition transitioned to a peacekeeping role. Within a few months, he announced his retirement.
Taking lyrium, Inquisition disbanded
After the Inquisition disbanded, Cullen refused offers of employment, made polite farewells, and disappeared.
Taking lyrium, general
There was no sign of him until a year later, when Scout Harding heard rumors of a Fereldan man begging for lyrium in the streets of Val Chevin. According to Harding, the man she found was in the final stages of lyrium madness. He barely remembered himself, let alone her. It is unclear whether Harding gave the man a few coins, or a gentle knife to end his misery. What is clear is that Commander Cullen was gone.
3. Told Cullen to use lyrium until after the war
Needing Cullen at his best, the Inquisitor encouraged him to temporarily resume the highly addictive lyrium regime until the war was over.
4. Told Cullen not to use lyrium
The Inquisitor supported Cullen's decision to fight his addiction.
If you urged Cullen to stay his course and give up lyrium permanently, once he is ready to talk again, a cutscene will play where you discuss how he's coping.
Epilogue for base game if Templars were recruited and Cullen does not use lyrium post-Inquisition:
Many follow in the footsteps of Commander Cullen, going through the slow and agonizing process of lyrium withdrawal.
Epilogue for Trespasser:
Not taking lyrium, Inquisition peacekeeping force
After the Inquisition transitioned to a peacekeeping role, Cullen continued to serve as commander of its forces. Under his leadership, the Inquisition protected the Divine's interests while enforcing new standards of security. Cullen also expanded the Chantry's treatment for templars whose minds were taken by lyrium, as well as those who wished to cease lyrium usage. And as chaos reigned in the North and threats to the Divine lurked in every shadow, Cullen remained ready to serve.
Romanced, not taking lyrium, peacekeeping Inquisition
After the Inquisition transferred to a peacekeeping role, Cullen and the Inquisitor were able to spend more time together. Cullen continued to serve as commander of the Inquisition forces, aiding the Inquisitor in service to Divine Victoria.
Not taking lyrium, Inquisition disbanded
After the Inquisition disbanded, Cullen retired from active service. He returned to Ferelden, establishing a sanctuary for former templars, on land Divine Victoria granted to him. With his help, many templars shed their lyrium addiction... and those whose minds were too far gone spent their last days in comfort. And he promised that, should his friends from the old Inquisition ever need him, his blade would be ready.
Romanced, Inquisition disbanded
After the Inquisition disbanded, Cullen and the Inquisitor retired to a private life together. Unburdened by the restrictions of their offices, they continued doing good works on their own terms.
Inquisitor marriage, general
That is, after a long-overdue visit to Cullen's siblings, who were overjoyed to meet their new sister-in-law.
