So weird re-watching RWBY and hearing Washington whenever Ozpin speaks and hearing Church's voice sound anything but condescending and snarky. Burnie voicing Tai being supportive just threw me because all I hear is Church when Burnie speaks and he's just not built to be supportive and the words "my Sunny little dragon" just made my brain melt.
It's been a few years since I watched RWBY and I thought I'd watch it all again but having been watching nothing but RVB and Clone Wars it's funny hearing the voices of the serious freelancers in kids, like Jen Brown LAUGHING as Pyrrha and Miles Luna not being a condescending rat Felix. I love the difference between the two shows, it was so fun growing up with Red vs Blue and then having RWBY come out in early high school and just enjoying Rooster Teeth again.
Came here to say that hi yes thank you @rootbeerflotsam for doing this that I got for @ludwig-and-co , but also due to the glorious wise words, I shall share it with everyone here.
Ever since I saw the trailer to this movie I was instantly hooked...then I decided not to watch it until three months later, but let's ignore that fact!
Point is I finally watched it and I have a lot to say!
This movie is absolutely incredible! Easily one of the best movies I've seen in a long time. It's incredibly inventive, funny, full of action, and never once did I feel it was getting boring.
And that's saying something since the entire movie takes place on a train.
I really admire a movie that can take place in a single setting and continue to be engaging.
The movie's character is Ladybug, played by Brad Pitt, who's tasked with simply getting a briefcase and then getting off the train at the next stop. Simple as that, but obviously it can't be that easy.
Ladybug doesn't get all the screen time, we also have Lemon and Tangerine, the two owners of the briefcase.
Lemon and Tangerine are tasked by The White Death to escort his son and the briefcase to Kyoto.
We then have characters like the Prince and the Father, also known as Yuichi. The Prince is the daughter of The White Death and is pushed Yuichi's son off of a building just to get him onto the train to frame him as an assassin so she can kill her dad.
Basically, the plot is kind of complex just trying to explain in text, but it makes a lot of sense when watching it. In short, everyone is connected to everyone else and they were all hired by The White Death in hopes they would all kill each other.
I know I went on a bit of a ramble, but I got it out of my system. The actual movie though was incredible. As I mentioned above it takes place entirely on a train.
I genuinely felt that this was incredibly original from most everything I've seen recently. A lot of movies have been feeling really stale lately and this honestly felt new.
That's not to say it was all good though. While I did genuinely enjoy all of the movie, not a single thing was boring, I did feel like there was a ton of exposition.
Almost all of the characters had some sort of backstory explaining how they got to the train, or where they were during a certain part in the story. Again, these parts of the movie were entertaining, especially Lemon and Tangerine's, but I just felt it odd that every character needed a backstory.
With all that being said though, this honestly was an almost perfect movie. One I would go back and watch with friends at almost any time.
This is one of those movies you could sit down and watch on repeat and just have fun with it. None of the characters really take themselves seriously and it's just fun.
A Los Angeles Theatre Review: 'The Winter's Tale’ at Antaeus Theatre Company
I’m not exactly the biggest fan of Shakespeare so for me to go out of my way to review a Shakespeare play absolutely requires that it has a meaningful diverse cast with global majority actors in significant parts (with the director preferably being global majority as well). It JUST happens to be that this is 2 for 2 that I’ve seen the Antaeus Theatre Company deliver another winner with their…
Rooster Teeth effectively losing their most genuine and fan-beloved cohorts (Trocadero, Shannon McCormick, etc) due to their ineptitude and inability to take responsibility AND their inclination to spend the least amount of money even if it means destroying years-long relationships is almost laughable because you can see them quickly draining their own resources and getting so desperate they’ll even limit their accessibility to their content.
No one is going to get a First subscription to watch the new RVB, no one is going to watch the new Achievement Hunters after so many of the og team has left, with a lot of bad blood behind them, and when they finally putter out and die, blaming all the fans who didn’t hemorrhage money for their shitty services, no fan will remember them fondly or, at the very least, will find themselves with fond memories that haven’t been ruined by Rooster Teeth’s actions.
And I think that’s funnier than anything this sorry excuse for a comedy troupe has produced in years.
Oscar Pine (Aaron Dismuke)/Professor Ozpin (Shannon McCormick)
“Thank you for your patience.”
“The Ever After is real.”/“Neopolitan fell with us, too.”
“The greatest warrior to ever live.”/“Neo abused me with illusions of our dead friends.”
“Afterans don’t die, they ascend.”
“Jaune was the Rusted Knight.”
“Yang and Blake are girlfriends now.”/“The Gods got kicked out by their mother.”/“I’m not giving up anytime soon.”/“I’m proud to call all of you my family.”
“I blew up at the others.”/“The Cat was eaten by five Jabberwalkers.”
No disrespect to Jason Weight but there is something bizarre about how much people ate up those scripts and tried to adopt them as pseudocanon when they are some of the worst and most insincere things I have ever read on par with like baby's first fanfic coming out scene. "A previous writer of RVB wanted to confirm grimmons and wrote a pitch for this" is awesome but the script itself is so unbelievably bad and stupid to say nothing of the other ones people are now trying to hawk as word of god "proof" (especially the Donut and Sarge ones) it's the Shannon Mccormick ace Wash ask and tuckington reblogs as hard evidence all over again
I’ve seen a few people worrying that we’re not getting Wash’s voice actor back for season 19 and I would just like to be clear: this is a completely unsubstantiated rumor. Shannon McCormick has made absolutely no comments about season 19. He still has RvB, RWBY, and Camp Camp listed in his twitter bio. Anyone commenting on Shannon’s involvement is being purely speculative; there has been nothing to confirm or deny his involvement with Red vs Blue going forward.
I’m fairly certain this rumor started because Shannon spoke about how his support of other workers caused him to be uninvited to RT events. It’s important to note, though, that this happened in 2018, and he has still worked on RT projects since then. Shannon has stated that he’s “Happy to be asked to continue voicing stuff”.
That being said…
I find it a little odd that the rumor is that Shannon isn’t being asked back when Jen Brown (Carolina’s VA) was the one who actually spoke out about RT’s mistreatment. If any of the VAs were to not be asked back, it would most likely be them. I’m not accusing anyone of malice (I know how these games of internet telephone go) but I don’t want their words to be erased from this.
Jen has also made no comments on their involvement with season 19, but they have worked on and supported RWBY since they spoke up last October.
TL;DR: we have not gotten a confirmation that Shannon and Jen are coming back for season 19, but there also has not been really anything to imply that they won’t.
