Some books to show comparison because I apparently have nothing better to do on a free Sunday and since this is awakening interest in the books I’m gonna give you all some warnings :)
- The book are a lot darker, especially the first one when it comes the abuse Nathan experienced.
- There is no “fairborn” and “blood” witches. Fairborn was the name of the knife Nathan’s father gave to him. In the book they are called black and white witches with white witches being “good” and running most of things and black witches being “bad” and having to hide. Yes, it’s supposed to be racism metaphor. The whole point is that white witches are hypocritical and terrible. For some reason Netflix decided to get rid of those more ~political~ elements which is why I see people wonder why some scenes come of as racist. It’s because they are supposed to, but it does send the whole different message when you take away the main plot aspect from the story.
- Celia is not a good character at all. She puts Nathan in the cage right away. He spent years in a cage and she abused him and treated him like an animal. She never dies in the books which she should have. Nathan hated her.
- Nathan had two more step siblings which aren’t in the show. Unlike Jessica, they liked him and helped him. Jessica was bad, but she wasn’t the “main villain”.
- The scene where Nathan gets stabbed in the show is much worse in the books. It happens when he is younger and they don’t stab him, they use a knife to carve “BW” into his back which leaves him with permanent scar.
- He is also forcibly tattooed by white witches to be marked as half white half black witch.
- They changed powers of all characters.
- Annalise is a lot less present in the books. She pretty much serves as a LI for Nathan and other than that she has very little agency as a character. She is comatosed for most of the story lol.
- Gabriel also has completely different personality and appearance. Nathan meets him at the end of the first book and lives with him for a while. Gabriel is “mortal” when he meets him because he fucked up his powers and turned himself into a regular human and there is an arc in the books where they try to restore his powers. Also tbh, he is quite toxic and lowkey misogynistic. He likes Nathan and therefore he hates Annalise. Can’t stand her, won’t look at her which is why the show version is well… better… but also funny. He also has a different backstory and he has reason to hate white witches.
- The show might do poly relationship but if you expect it from the books… run.
- That cult(??) that was killing white witches and eating their hearts? None of that happens. In the book they go find Mercury and vibe with her for a while. She isn’t evil EVIL, she mostly works for her own interest. She never helps Jessica.
- A lot of characters were left out.
[spoilery area for things not yet shown in show!! not that they are following it anyway]
- Soul O'Brien was basically turned into Marcus in the show. Marcus was the one eating hearts and collecting powers so later [spoilers] when Nathan eats his heart, he inherits all of his powers turning him into the most powerful witch. They still mentioned Nathan is supposed to be the one to kill Marcus but I don’t really see why now.
- Annalise never kills her dad. She kills Marcus which makes Nathan hate her and want to kill her. She only did it because Marcus killed her brother in front of her. Bdw Marcus dies in a very stupid way considering he is supposed to be most the powerful witch.
- Nathan does get his finger cut off but it was not in the context the show did it. Lots of deus ex machina in the books.
- There are exactly three queer characters in the books. They all die.
- Gabriel gets shot multiple times and can’t heal so he dies. That makes Nathan very angry and he spends some time killing white witches only to decide to unalive himself by turning into a tree on Gabriel’s grave because he realized he can’t live without him. But not before he meets up with Annalise who gets her happy ending BUT!! she also ends up having Nathan’s child so the half blood line continues or some other shit like that idk.

Omg why is that coquette girl STILL pressed about you lmao she’s fighting now other og coquette girls over involving black girls being too “woke” in the aesthetic. Wait until she finds non white girls involved in the cottagecore scene.
She has such an aggressive spirit to her behavior, very masculine
I lowkey think she's singling me out bc I'm one of the few who've managed to properly read her to filth. Her haters calls her slurs and other stupid gibberish so it's easy for her to act like a victim and be like "eww stop saying these dirty words on my blog!!1!1! ùwù"
Meanwhile, I am rationally calling out how much of a deceptive lying joke she is point-to-point. Note she never bothers arguing back to my reply to her messages, when she's usually so fond of having back & forth with people criticizing her - that's because she has no way to deny what I say cause that's the truth.
Look at her dunking on abortive women, stating they'll always be murderer, but the moment someone reminds her she's a homwrecker she's like "sToP rEmIndIng Me oF My PasT iT wAs tHe DemOns I aM a DiFeRenT pErSoN NoW" ...okay so why couldn't the women who aborted be granted the same mercy as you do? Can you imagine if we told her "unpopular opinion but I think all the women who had sex outside of marriage are whores, and will always be whoresuwu" ?? ....This girl is soooooo delusional.
She acts like we calling her own for being a hypocrite racist piece of crap makes her "obsessed with her". We're not - we're just appealed by the gigantic space between what she professes about herself (smol uwu angel from God uwu) and how she actually behaves. There are plentiful of nasty people on tumblr, yet they don't get half the shot she gets because they don't pretend to be pure virginal uwu angels. That's what makes people angry : people LYING for clout & attention. And also as Christian, many of us refuse to let a foolish weirdo claim being one when she's not. So that legitimately becomes OUR problem too.
And yes, you're not the one to feel she has a very masculine energy. Always being into petty drama, foul-mouthed, calling women misogynist slurs ("c*nt" is her favorite one).... There's no wonder she's trying to compensate constantly reminding how smol & tiny uwu she is - because everything about her personality is masculine and ugly.
It's so funny to see them racist American White chicks gatekeep coquette from Black women when they themselves are appropriating the OG french coquette (unsurprisingly she's been flexing about having french heritage - which might be a lie considering what a pathological liar she is...🥴). Sorry, but you can't be a real coquette unless you're an under 20 years old French girl with a BMI below 18, that's the rule💅🏾 Yankee wannabe will NEVER be able to pull out that effortless tiny french girl swag.

Wait omg... Are we gonna have mother daughter moment between Sam and YN? Like I am still confused if Sam exists, because if Billy still cheated on Sidney with Mrs. Carpenter when he had a secret crush on Yn... Then this guy is bad at life choices.. But still still, if Sam does exist.. It would be so cool if we get to see mother daughter moments between yn and Sam.. Also sadly because YN will never have a child of her own and stu and Billy are confirmed endgame... Sooo?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Uh, I added the flower gif because it was pretty and I want to download it when you answer the ask, thanks!
No, sadly no mother daughter moments between YN and Sam this round ☹️😞 (Unless there's a blurbs, short AU etc) and as for Billy AND Stu (bc u cannot convince me he was loyal to any gf he ever had) sleeping around while in relationships or looking at us is kind of the point. It just shows, just like in canon, how hypocritical and misogynistic they are that if a woman cheats or sleeps around she's a whore but if they do it they're just being men.
It's very 90s (and modern let's be so fr about the misogyny today I mean Andrew Tate was so popular it was scary) for guys at the time to sleep with women they probably don't even have a crush on while secretly wanting a different woman. That basically those women are just little reliefs for urges and score cards towards their male ego while pinning for another girl they can't have.
It's my hc that Billy didn't love Christina and was just telling her things every teen girl wants to hear just so he could hit AND whose to say not use her in some way? If he actually loved her; not only would he have included her in the plan but he might have even not done the plan at all or altered it bc he had more than just himself to worry about. We don't even hear about Christina till 5 movies in and her not being at that party might have only been Billy not wanting his side piece and his gf he wants to kill to meet and ruin everything for the night. If it wasn't for that; who's to say Sam would even exist bc he might have killed her at the party as well?
It's lowkey kind of sad and naive on her part she thought they were in love when he most likely didn't even invite her to his best friends huge party (And she most likely had no idea they were going to kill so to her until the news came out it looked like he was just shoving her away) and was only meeting up with her like a dirty secret. I can just imagine a hopeful girl being manipulated by him...But, considering she cheated on her boyfriend and was purposely seeing a guy she knew was taken she was probably garbage too so the sad ain't there too much for me personally 😕 plus how she treated Sam for HER mistake 😒
Now, I always questioned if he didn't love her then why not kill her to prevent Sidney from finding out? I got two theories. 1. Maybe he did like her enough to spare her as someone to have when he lived bc him and Stu were so arrogant they thought their plan was fool proof. 2. There was more than one girl he was doing it with which feels more incanon considering we see girls flocking around him at the video store so she was just one of the many 'loose ends' in his plan and he was a fucking idiot teenage boy bc he is definitely not the type of guy to think of girls as friends so he's basically flirting with two girls right where Randy works and Tatum or any could walk in what a fucking moron

no you are so valid for being biased against michael. i admit i do like him but my god is turnabout fair play in this case because above all else i am an emily davis girlie i was in the trenches for her back in the day and man. the takes i've seen </3 and the fact that people think they're being like, original and witty or whatever with their hate of her when really they're just repeating the same three misogynistic lines that have been repeated for nearly 10 years. i fully endorse an anti munroe sentiment on emily's behalf.
also GOD the towel. that makes me so frustrated esp when people ship her with josh after the whole?? stealing her clothes thing??? like i dont even dislike josh personally but . come on . i do like how tq kind of flipped that on its head, say what you will about its shortcomings, but at least emma got to put on clothes before getting chased around. and she got to use a taser. i think there should be an ud remake where sam gets a taser.
FGJKDDF ok im very very glad that i have your approval as a mike fan. but seriously though i cant believe this is like... still a conversation we're having. about emily, i mean. its 2023 like im so 😭😭😭 sure you dont have to like her, in fact its very valid not to like her, but most of the time theres just shitty takes and dumb misogynistic (as you said) + lowkey racist reasons to dislike her. AND ITS ALMOST ALWAYS HYPOCRITICAL TOO!!!!!! its FRUSTRATING..... and it sucks because like. she genuinely has so much going for her character wise and stuff but because shes mean and a bitch that gets thrown out the window. once again i am veryhappy to have your support, especially for emilys sake
YEAH!!! LITERALLY!!!!! like. thats the main reason why im so uncomfortable with it dfgkjfdg the best interpretation of jo////ssam imo is 2 depressed ppl just trying to get through and heal. not to say that couldnt be accomplished romantically as well but just. idk. ive talked about this before but the way their relationship came to be doesnt rly scream. romantic relationship to me? but of course im pretty biased in this sense too so fdkjnjdgj
youre so so right abt emma though... she got to put clothes on AND fuck shit up w/ a taser. give all the girls tasers tbh! but for real sam deserves to put clothes on like Not a quarter of the game later and a taser<3 she gets to use the bat i believe but the former(?) is definitely cooler

Look, it was definitely wrong of Ginny & Georgia to use that very sexist claim ab Taylor as a "joke". It's concerning that a platform as big as Netflix is allowing such horrible stereotypes to be condoned instead of being part of the solution for gender equality by deconstructing those misogynistic beliefs in a meaningful way.
However, the statement Taylor put out in response doesn't feel good for several reasons:
a) Taylor has a history of speaking up formally about issues regarding social justice and/or support of minorities ONLY when it directly affects her. I'm sorry but this is an empirical fact, if you deny that you are too blinded by your fave
b) The Tweet has a very petty vibe and it's almost like she's victimizing herself as if she's the only one who has ever been wronged by sexism. Imo, it would've been better if she took a more polite and humble approach and pointed out how harmful it is for people in general, especially young girls, to see such a stereotyped accusation towards a person treated as something acceptable in a TV show. Instead of bringing the attention back to herself by mentioning Miss Americana and implying that Netflix backstabbed her (even though it is true), she could've said something like "it is irresponsible and dissapointing for a streaming service with such a wide audience to engage in the use of sexist and stereotyped misconceptions towards women when our society has been working so hard to improve gender equality. I sincerely hope Netflix will take this into consideration when reviewing the scripts for their shows in the future and deciding what type of message they're sending out to society and to young people". Make it about all everyone, not just yourself Tay. The "Happy Women's History Month I guess" sounds very wrong to me and quite honestly a bit hypocritical bc it makes it look like she's just hopping on the women's rights train just bc it favours her in this particular scenario. It's not like she Tweets every year about women's history month or about International Day of Women and Girls in Science
c) If she can be so very loud about a line in a TV show that personally offended her (while also being very sexist and offensive to women, I'm not denying that), why couldn't she be this loud about BLM? If she was concerned ab being hacked when giving her sm platforms to black businesses, couldn't she at least have insta lives with them? Publicly donated to organizations that support black people in vulnerable social settings?
I give her credit for giving her staff that holiday and for going off as loudly as she did at Trump. But like then she just stays quiet about so many important things and when you have a platform as HUGE as hers, it really does send a mixed message. I'm not saying she has to Tweet ab every single social issue every day, but maybe thank the health workers and ask people to wear a mask? I understand that anything and everything she says is twisted and I think she has all the right to be cautious ab it. Like lowkey I think she has PTSD from what the media and general public have done to her. But at the same time, she continues to subconciously try to please everyone and say what people want her to say instead of what she believes in. Sorry Tay but if you wanna stand for equal rights for minorities you are unavoidably going to get hate bc sadly racist, monstrous, inhumane people exist.
Being on the right side of history and standing for human rights means you won't be liked by everyone, but if you believe in it you should advocate for it bc it's the right thing, not to make ppl like you. She could at least try to pretend that it's not all about benefitting herself, but she doesn't! Does she even review what she posts with her team? If what they want is for Tay to come off as an egotistical privileged white lady, mission accomplished. I love Taylor, I've listened to her music since Fearless came out when I was 8. I admire a lot her talent, intelligence, and how hard she works but I would really like her and respect her a lot more if she didn't sit so comfortably in her privilege.
“Being on the right side of history and standing for human rights means you won't be liked by everyone, but if you believe in it you should advocate for it bc it's the right thing, not to make ppl like you” - louder.
Like that’s the crux of the issue with her for me.
This was a brilliant take I agree anon!

The things they’re saying about here. My god their just as psychotic. Saying “I’m not saying she’s lying but she’s being childish and malicious while he’s been mature about it”. Saying she’s doing it for money. Harassing her, telling other people to harass her, telling her to die. Making themselves out to be the victims. I’m saying this right now I genuinely hate anyone who defends Robert Morley you’re scum just like him.
He’s the most unprofessional person out there. He’s not more mature than her, he just won’t come out an say anything about the situation because she could so easily disprove what he’s saying with receipts
They accuse her of lying even though it was her lived, first hand experience but believe a blarke stan account that tried to say she was actually the abusive one and provided 0 receipts to back up their claims
They tell her to shut up about what she went through but when she spent all that time being silent on the subject they still attacked her
They call her jobless even though she had a steady stream of work before corona and has been working from home since quarantine started. If I remember correctly, she’s supposed to be recording an audiobook.
They also make fun of her for streaming and making cameos by claiming that’s her only source of income when she’s actually doing it to raise money for charity. It’s also lowkey hypocritical when b&e are fixing to do the same thing with an instagram live
They say she can’t possibly know any bts drama because she’s not dating him anymore but actively ignore the part where she’s still friends with several cast members
They called us “pineapples” for pointing out the cheating and his terrible behavior to make us seem crazy and delusional. Now that she’s pretty much confirmed everything we said, they’re calling her a “pineapple” now and saying she got her information from us as a way to somehow make her look unreliable. Which makes no sense because she’s just reciting first hand knowledge. They’re mad because our intuition and thoughts on what happened just all turned out to be true
They’re bending over backwards to write off this woman’s story of abuse because it makes their male fave look bad and they’d rather be raging misogynists that refuse to believe women because it might mean they’ll get noticed by a man that doesn’t care about them 🤩🤩🤩
They’re actively contributing to rape culture but that’s an advanced conversation they’re clearly not ready to have

To Dear Myself Review/Rant
If you’ve had the patience to watch all 45 episodes until the end, then you probably know what I’m going to talk about in this review. I feel like it’s pretty unanimous that the ending was awful.
It’s a slow burn slice-of-life drama. I don’t normally watch these types of dramas and instead go for the ones that are fantastical and far away from reality so that I can completely get lost in another world. But Liu Shishi and Zhu Yilong are familiar faces, and I’m more likely to start a bad drama with familiar actors than a good drama with unfamiliar actors, because I’m basic and want to invest as little attention and mental effort as possible (it takes work to warm up to new faces).
The drama started off promising: it introduced obstacles that normal couples and families would face. Obstacles like money, social class, infidelity, unemployment, workplace competition, the value and desirability of “aging” women who prioritize work over love. It was relatable, even though some of these are unfamiliar experiences for me, a psychology grad student in her mid-20s. I didn’t expect this drama to be inspiring. I didn’t want this drama to be inspiring. But I wanted it to be at least logical, if not realistic. The drama seemed to promise reality though, which I held out hope for, but instead it butchered the character arc for most of the leads.
[spoilers ahead]
The devolution of Li Si Yu and Chen Yi Ming’s relationship was laughable.
LSY is afraid of marriage, while CYM believes that the ultimate goal in life is to get married and have a family. They don’t see eye to eye on this, and so the pressure causes them to break up. I respect this. It’s a common problem: you can’t really move forward when one isn’t ready to settle down, and the other isn’t willing to wait or support them. CYM is portrayed as a calm, composed, and morally upright person who feels uncomfortable when LSY makes a questionable decision. But CYM is also a hypocritical person who suppresses his feelings. Whenever he’s displeased, he acts as thought everything is fine until he can’t hide it anymore and explodes with unbidden rage. He punches the roof of the car, he slams the desk. It’s a little scary tbh. LSY is portrayed as a passionate and impulsive career-driven woman. She has to make tough decisions, and you understand why she makes them. Whenever she’s unhappy, she’ll let you know. The drama seems to set up a character development arc for these two flawed characters.
LSY starts her own company, but then fails, and ends up learning that while it’s important to fight for what you believe in, but you shouldn’t be too caught up in whether your fail or succeed. It’s the classic “it’s about the journey, not the destination” kind of lesson.
After a bout of heartbreak, CYM is swept off his feet by the manipulative Wang Ziru. She lies to him, evades him, controls him. At this point in the drama, we think that LSY is better off without him because he seemed to have moved on so swiftly. CYM and WZR seem to have a calmer relationship than the one he had with LSY. They never argue. We see that he’s easily attracted to confident, powerful women, but expects them to settle down with him when they’re not ready. For a third of the drama, he’s happily in love with WZR and doesn’t think about or interact with LSY (except when he comes to her office to tell her to shut her company “for her own good”). It looks like he completely moved on.
LSY on the other hand, misses him. She’s always looking at the only picture that she’s saved of them together. She still loves him.
I liked that they introduced Guan Xiao Tong as a potential love interest for LSY. Despite being over a decade younger than LSY and constantly being looked down by her because of this, I thought he was quite mature. I also liked how LSY wasn’t “moved” by him. The typical drama would have her eventually reciprocate his feelings and make him her rebound. Yes, she was amused by him, but she knew that he wouldn’t grow up fast enough with her, and so she never led him on. It made their relationship wholesome. Even though LSY  wasn’t attracted to him, I liked how the drama normalized a potential may/december relationship between a woman and man. Though I don’t think I can forgive the drama was making him disappear so abruptly after he found out that his dad was struggling financially. Maybe the drama implied that GXT was too busy “growing up” by helping with his dad’s business so his relationship with LSY came to an end and that he was no longer relevant to drama, but that wasn’t made clear at all.
Zhi Zhi also stopped appearing after the 3rd last episode of the drama when she decided not to marry the misogynistic Su Li Xing and to instead stay in Shanghai for her career, which also implied that there could be a chance for her and Liu Yang to get back together (their storyline is a whole other can of worms, but I have to admit that no other drama, movie, or book has made me cry as hard as Zhi Zhi confronting the mistress and then getting publicly slapped by her husband. Not sure if it was the drama itself that had the power to move me, or if it was because I watched that scene at 3am on a Thursday, or because it reminded me of some personal experiences, but either way, I sobbed hella hard that night).
But back to LSY and CYM. In the last 2 episodes of the drama, they start appearing together in scenes again. There are some unresolved emotions. There is still attraction. Nervous, longing, awkward glances. After nearly 20 episodes of believing that a reconciliation is impossible, you start wondering if the drama is hinting that they’re gonna force them back together in the last 2 episodes. CYM sells his apartment to support LSY’s project. Haowen tells LSY that CYM still calls out her name when he’s drunk (although it’s still unclear if this was just a gimmick to distract her to sign the sale agreement).
CYM can’t give WZR a straight answer about whether or not he still loves LSY. He punches Gong Jing in the face for cheating LSY out of her shares.
And even after all this, guess what happens? He confronts WZR. She tells him she lied to him to help him preserve his dignity. She tells him she had to do underhanded, unethical things in order to save the livelihood of an entire company that she’s responsible for. He’s moved. He’s grateful for her thoughtfulness towards him. He stands by her. He chooses her.
I mean, what? Does he really love her that much that he’s willing to look past everything she’s done? All the crimes and hurt she’s committed? I don’t need to him to get back together with LSY. I don’t want them to. I think he’s a terrible character who believes that happiness and fulfilment only comes form finding a woman who’s willing to let him love and dote on her. But this decision just doesn’t match the morally upright character we’ve been sold with at the beginning of the drama. LSY only made one morally questionable decision, of which she apologized for, and yet CYM was already questioning whether or not they should continue their relationship because he felt like they were going different ways. And yet he forgives WZR? Because he loves her? But? What about those ambiguous, uncomfortable faces he made when he was with her? Like that scene when he helped take off her coat before she went into the awards ceremony, and he stood back, leaning by the door, staring off into the distance looking sad and regretful?? What are we supposed to make of those scenes and expressions? I probably shouldn’t victim blame, especially since WZR created an uneven power dynamic in their (lowkey toxic) relationship, but I’m just not sure what the scriptwriter was trying to do with this plotline. It felt like they were condoning WZR’s behaviour (despite saying she was arrested in a voiceover) because CYM forgave her. Or were they condemning CYM’s passiveness? Again, not clear.
And then the final scene with the women marching on happy and hopeful, and then men staring out onto the city skyline looking lost and depressed? Female empowerment is great, and it was nice that they were all single at the end (except for Xiao Ling, I guess), but was it really necessary to tear men down to emphasize this? But then again, the drama kind of had to since they wrote shitty male characters. I just dislike creating the winner/loser dichotomy.
I respect that Liu Yang is working his way towards forgiveness and has found what he’s passionate about. But I don’t know if he’s forgivable, because what he did was pretty unforgivable, but he’s showing growth and is working towards redemption, which is somewhat admirable.
Haowen went from being the most level-headed one to becoming the most impulsive and obsessive one.
CYM is just blank. Absolutely blank. There is nothing interesting about him. At first you pity him for being the one who’s always chasing after LSY and being the one to give in first for the sake of the relationship, but then you realize that he’s just trying to mold himself into what he thinks is the “ideal” boyfriend, which he thinks is someone who is able to succeed without the help of his girlfriend. He thinks it’s weak to rely on the help of his girlfriends, which is ironic since most of the career moves he made in the drama were directly because of his girlfriends.
Anyway, I could just go on about how much I didn’t enjoy this drama, and other people on youtube and mydramalist have ranted more eloquently about this. I usually don’t write drama reviews unless there’s something I’m deeply unhappy about.
My recommendation? Don’t watch this. But if you’re curious, don’t be afraid to jump and skip scenes. There are no likable characters. Even Zhi Zhi doesn’t start to become likable until she decides to leave her husband. Is this a feminist drama? Yes to the extent that it normalizes women in their 30s who are single and career-driven (which is a pretty big deal in China where unmarried women over 25/27 are considered “leftover” women), but I’m just not sure whether the plot does justice to these women. The verdict is still out on that. Thoughts?
Oh and one final qualm that I have with this drama is the LSY and WZR never had a final face-to-face confrontation. After everything that WZR did to LSY, LSY never got to interrogate WZR. WZR could have even gave LSY some final parting words. Instead, CYM took LSY’s place and the drama made it seem that WZR was only answerable to him and no one else. There was just absolutely no closure from this messy, messy drama.

unpopular opinions... roswell nm?
Unpopular opinions according to who? I’ll guess I’ll go in general.
I think it’d be lowkey funny if Michael ends up with neither Maria nor Alex
I honestly don’t NEED Michael to end up with Maria. I enjoy them deeply but it’s not about the ship for me (yet). As long as Maria’s given narrative significance and development, I don’t care. Them together is the means / bonus.
I don’t think dating someone your friend likes is a cardinal sin. There are worse things done in the show. Do I think it’s hurtful and pain inducing? Yeah. But I do think it can be forgivable. I also think it’s extremely hypocritical for a fandom who claims that friendships are less than romance / ‘true love’ should cast the burden of the sin on Maria. But that’s another talking point. (It is not an unpopular opinion that this fandom is both racist and misogynistic, is it?)
Liz is the lead of the show. Apparently, that’s news, so.
I don’t think Max Evans is the Worst. I also don’t think he’s leading man material. Or. I don’t know. I’m not sure if he’d strike me if it wasn’t for Liz. In a way, I don’t think that’s a bad thing. It’s so interesting to see that occur with a white man in relation to a brown woman. His relevancy - for all that he’s the alien who came to Earth - is based on Liz, imo.
I think Isobel has potential to be an interesting character. And I look forward to her growth.
Making Noah the villain was a bad move. I don’t think this is unpopular writ fandom but it’s unpopular @ the show. If that makes sense? Like clearly someone in the writing room thought it was a great idea. Many someone’s.
RNM isn’t the woke liberal wet dream racists seem to think it is. Why are they so big mad about this? Because someone wealthy white people said some catchphrases @ Trump? Idgi.
I don’t think Michael will end up with Alex. I also don’t think that it means that Alex will end up alone.
I think Liz is a fantastic and complex character. She isn’t boring, stupid, or selfish. (well, the latter not in the way people mean, ie, re: hurting the feelings of Max.)
I wish Liz and Max had been a slower burn. I get why they weren’t. But I wish they were.
Alex is a (beautifully – thinking about it sometimes makes my heart flutter. I love him) flawed character. Pointing out this flaws isn’t ‘hate’. In fact, I’d call erasing them a form of showing dislike to the character or at least lack of understanding. He deserves better.
I have more but this is turning into a salty meme and less an unpopular opinion.

I wonder what would happen if the genders were reversed. They'd probably still ship it because they're toxic but there would definitely be a larger outcry and they'd face more criticism. But because Jaime is a man hardly anyone cares. Hardly anyone is taking it as seriously as they would if he were a woman. But hey-ho, turns out we're the desperate self-hating faux feminists because uhhh our faves insulted each other when they were on opposite sides in a war.
They’re hypocrites, so if the genders were reversed they’d be crying tears of blood for poor jaime. Like most of them LOVE amy dunne and fair enough, she’s actually intelligent (unlike cersei) and think she’s a boss bitch for getting revenge on her cheating husband but then they call jaime ‘toxic’ and a ‘misogynist’ for comitting the thoughtcrime of wanting to hurt cersei after he founds out she was cheating on him. So i guess if a man cheats he deserves death but if a woman cheats it’s girl powaaaah. Like I said, their Walmart brand of feminism makes me wanna vomit. PS: also the reason they don’t want Brienne with Jaime is because she’s ugly and ugly women apparently have to settle for ugly guys or just remain single for the rest of their lives. A lot of them lowkey ship Sansa with Jaime so shipping for them is just porn between conventionally attractive people, nothing else.

real quick and sloppy bios that are copy and pasted from dm’s.
keira bishop:
basically she's my little figure skater and she's been on the ice ever since she was a tiny wee one, alongside her older sister hannah. and she and hannah were always super super close bc there was only two years between them so they were each other's best friends. or it was more like hannah was keira's best friend and while keira was also hannah's and hannah loved her to bits, hannah also had other friends? anyway, they were both skating daft wehn they were growing up but hannah went on to join an ice hockey team and the contrast is important bc keira stuck to figure skating which is very much like, a lone sport? and hannah worked way better in a team bc she was so outgoing and friendly so keira hid behind her a lot and only made friends through hannah and she didn't really know how to make decisions without hannah's help and her parents sorta tried to discourage that but she's quite shy so they sort of let her be and figured she would come out of her shell in her own time. but anyway one day during winter, she and hannah went skating on a lake and the ice was really thin? and hannah fell through and like, keira couldn't help her back up so she passed away :( fckn traumatic i know. and keira was a total ghost after it and stuff and like, wouldn't talk to anyone and didn't want to go back to skating and her parents were distraught as well and sent her to therapy and bc she was never one to argue back, she went and it did sorta help and it's been four years now so she /has/ recovered a little? and a little anecdote is that hannah had a boyfriend named josh and he sorta helped as well bc he and keira were both going through the same grief bc they were the two people who loved hannah most, and idk he's an npc in my head but they have the nicest like platonic brother/sister relationship bc he bought her a dog to help her through the grieving process and the pup's name is olaf :D and yeah this is where we get frozen themed~ and steer away from the tragic hiro/tadashi storyline. keira's now a figure skater for disney on ice and she was cast as anna which is a big fucking deal for her bc wow!! everyone loves princess anna!! but it's also hard for her as well bc frozen is about the love between two sisters and having to learn the ins and outs of the movie and perform against an elsa just makes her miss hannah all the more? but yeah she just hopes she can do it justice. and bc hannah isn't around anymore she's slowly realising that she can't just stay lonely anymore and that she needs to make friends who aren't josh and so she's throwing herself literally headfirst into things like she doesn't have a roommate yet but when she does get one it's bc she'll have answered the first 'wanted roommate' ad thing that she saw and so she's really trying to put herself out there and try things she was scared to before by meeting new people even if she does get a bit unnerved sometimes? bc she still slips up and sort of looks for hannah to guide her and panics when she remembers hannah isn't there anymore but she's!! working on it!! and I BELIEVE IN HER.
owen kinney:
first up we have owen who is a wee bit of a lad's lad and likes bar hopping and getting pissed and stuff. he's a construction worker and just sort of always figured that's what he was destined to do bc he never did well in school and so he just thought 'i'll follow in my dad's footsteps' and joined the same construction company his pa works for. but the thing is it's kinda a corrupt company that skips paychecks and overworks its employees and owen's dad is in really bad health bc of it and owen is sooooo fucking hotheaded like, almost as bad as wardo so he's been suspended for mouthing off more times than he can count and the only reason he hasn't been fired is bc it's hard to find someone who'll work in the same conditions he and his dad and the other guys do? and they're not well off at all and he has hayley, his sister, to think of as well bc she needs a bit of protection because she's in ill mental health? so when his dad's joints are sore and he gets sick owen takes his shifts as well and he does tend to overwork himself a bit and his main outlet is sex? he sleeps around a TON, both guys and girls, and he doesn't really think there'sany responsibility tethered to one night stands so long as they're safe and use protection and stuff? so when people call him up the next again day for ditching them after he's done he's just like 'you knew it was a fling, stop chasing me up?' bc he isn't looking for commitment or anything long term? and that's like, basically it for him so far but even though he's kinda half-baked i'm actually super fond of him asdfghjkl
donald henshaw:
THEN THERE'S DONALD AKA MR GRUMPY GRUMP GRUMP. he's english and was previously married but he hates his wife now so THAT'S FUN. basically she cheated on him and then fell pregnant and so it was always dubious like, who the baby's father was but the kiddo looks like donald so it's fair to say he's the dad, but the baby is being raised with the guy donald's wife left him for? and this put donald in a super bad and bitter place and he uses alchol and smoking as a vice and stuff but on top of that he's a screenwriter. and so when that went down, he wrote this really dark comedy script where he based one of the characters on his wife. and it was like a fairly decent film and stuff and di really well with critics and stuff even though it was lowkey misogynistic bc donald is a bitter fuck but like... ngl it's justified bc i hate his wife. so yeah it clicked with her that the movie was about her and she tried to sue donald and everything for defamation of character and stuff but there was no proof that she could prove it was about her unless she took a DNA test for the baby and she refused to do that (BC THE KID IS SO OBVIOUSLY DONALD'S) and oh yeah his wife is an actress i forgot that part, so it basically means that even though he's still in the movie industry as a screenwriter, he genuinely hates actors and actresses a bit bc he thinks they're too up their own arses, esp now he's on a warning and is being pressured to write 'happier' material, so i'm thinking that maybe he gets lumped in to help write the script for cinderella? and that's sooooo not his scene lmao. and yeah he came out to his wife when they were dating and told her he was bisexual but she forced him to repress it because she wasn't homophobic outwardly, like she's one of those 'YAY FOR SAME SEX MARRIAGE' people but she believes in all the stigmas surrounding bi people like they're liable to cheat and stuff EVEN THOUGH WOW HYPOCRITICAL MUCH? so yeah she's biphobic and donald never got to be his best bi self so overall he's a big old bitter british bisexual package of pure and utter GRUMP.
josh atlas:
josh is still building up for me but what i know is that he comes from a bit of a 'superstar' family so i really am pushing the whole 'son, you're throwing away your dream' 'no dad, i'm throwing away yours' trope, but at the same time hockey is josh's dream and all he wants to do is win the stanley cup and stuff. so yeah growing up he was always going off to hockey camps and joining peewee hockey and stuff and his dad really pushed him to do well and win games and stuff and do extra training sessions and it was all super rigorous and testing for him but he was happy to do it? and he met hannah at a hockey camp and they became best friends and obviously he totally fell for her and she was just the best girl in his eyes and the bishops totally aodred him as well bc they were such a supporting and loving family and he didn't know what that was like bc if they all went to one of keir'a figure skating competitions and she only got like, fourth place then her family would still congrtulate her for getting that far whereas his dad would show how disappointed he was if josh did anything less than get first place. but he still kept it together bc he had hannah AND ROSE WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT THESE TWO MORE :) but when hannah died everything got topsy tuvy for him and stuff and his game was gone and his dad was super unsympathetic and kept being faux supportive by telling him that getting back into playing would help him get over hannah but IT DIDN'T BITCH. so he's on anti-depressants and stuff and missed getting drafted into the NHL which is a biiiiiig fucking deal. so his dad was mad at him for missing that and when josh realised how much keira was suffering he pretended to be okay for her sake and so he went back to a strict training regime and the anti-depressants did help, and now he's been drafted for the new york rangers and his dad won't stop bragging about it. thing is, the tablets he takes thin his blood and stuff so when he does get a hockey injury he bleeds for so long and i just have this image of rose being on standby to help clean him up :')
