WFA Jason has no clue how to shoot a damn bow. Like I know that most media doesn't get it right but this is... this feels worse than usual.

What the hell is up with that one panel? Why is his palm facing out like that? Never in my eight years of archery have I ever met anyone doing that without a release aid. Not even that one couple I had to stop from killing somebody because they decided to try to learn off of YouTube (yeah, great idea guys. Let's learn how to shoot the deadly weapon off of YouTube and then not follow range rules at all. These people were in their thirties. What even?). Did the artists even LOOK at a picture of an archer? Honestly I'm astounded and not in a good way.

The rest of this is pretty typical for media to screw up but I feel like I'm this far into rambling I might as well discuss it.

Every archer has what's called an anchor point where the shooting hand makes contact with their head, typically around the jawline. For example, olympic gold winner Lim Si-hyeon:

Having a consistent anchor point is super important for aim, as it helps with sight reference. Jason's aim is probably so bad because he has no anchor point. His hand is just kind of floating in the air, which means his sight will be off. I wouldn't be surprised if the lack of steady contact also caused a bit of a bow wobble upon firing. If the bow wobbles, it can hit the arrow off its trajectory.

Also none of them are wearing any protective equipment! At the very least they should have arm guards to prevent string slaps, and if Jason is shooting like that, I GUARANTEE he is getting string slaps, and those hurt like a bitch. They leave big bruises and welts depending on how bad the slap is, and if anyone is using a recurve like Roy, Artemis, and Jason are, they more than likely will get them. I won't share photos on here, but go ahead and look up Archery String Slaps if you're curious.

Roy, at least, should know better.

isn't it insane how three of endeavor's kids are heroes. and all three of them don't follow his way of going about it. shoto's a conventional hero but he does it through all might's way. he wants to save people. not climb the ranks. fuyumi teaches children so they can learn what's right and wrong. natsuo studies medical welfare so he can help people onsite without the "pro hero,, label. being so normal abt this btw.

It's like Marina said, as bad as the mini fight of that day was, it was necessary, we finally talked about the things we suffered and showed how they also hurt us, and how mom hurts us too, she doesn't understand/doesn't try to understand us, and that's it!, maybe that's just how it is, mom is like that, she's not considerate, she doesn't understand what we suffered indeed

Before that it seems that I/we get it very frustrated with that, even though I didn't admit it, it seems like I wanted her to understand, I/we wanted her approval, but now with this day....we don't need her approval, it's just like that, mom is like that, she'll never understand what we went through, and she's not interested in the things we do indeed, and that's all right, she's just like that, she doesn't understand and she doesn't need to understand, I/we no longer want her to understand and be interested

The original percy jackson series is about cycles of abuse and neglect, right. Were introduced to percy as a kid who has clearly been left behind by a school system that has given up on him, restless and unengaged and self-defetist because hes been given nothing that works for him and no one even tries to meet him where he is. Then hes told no, listen, your neurodivergence is amazing and you just need to be given something that actually utilizes your unique palatte. And thats obviously the uplifting idea rick wanted for his kids, right. But once we get to know chb the same cycles are happening there too. There are kids "left behind" there too for one reason or another, because their parents dont want to claim them, because their parents werent important enough to get a cabin. Do you get it, all the kids who dont fit the most common neurotypes get shoved into the same closet. Kids are being left in a cruel world to fend for themselves without the tools they need. Theyre dying because no one bothered to accommodate them. Its such an obvious parallel that the first chapter introduces a teacher whos written to be especially hard on percys disability and she turns out to literally be one of these monsters trying to kill him. Meanwhile sally jackson tells him she named him after Perseus because she wanted a redemption for a hero whos story ended in tragedy. Meanwhile every book in the series replicates a greek myth step for step until the moment they break the cycle. Annabeth, playing Odysseus, is talked down from her hubris and grounded by her friends. Percy, playing Heracles, meets someone wronged by the original Heracles and rights his wrongs by refusing to go down the same selfish path as him. Monsters are reborn because they are--as the books explicitly call them--achetypes. These kids are stuck inside the cyclical nature of mythology because thats what happens to mythology, it gets retold over and over again. But these are the kids who have to live it. The series ends with percy being offered immortality and he rejects it because he wants to use his godly favor to force them to break their cycle of neglecting their kids. The series ends with a declaration that we cant keep letting this happen. The very first book offees the same choice. It ends with percy refusing to keep the head of medusa as a spoil of war, refusing his heroic reward. He lets his mother have the head and use it to kill gabe. Isnt that fucking crazy for a kids book? Gabe wasnt a Monster. He wasnt going to Turn to Dust and Disappear in a narratively convenient way. He was a living breathing mortal dude and percy and his mom killed him without remorse. Break the cycle of abuse!!!! Dont let this happen again!!!
