ASGD Cast Facts #01
Subject Name: Christian Locke aka the Stargazer guy with the strange diary.
While yes, Chris' body is fragile due his issues (mental & physical), but due to his fast speeds, his albiet very concerning anger problems (bcs he literally stabbed someone with a sleeper agent out of nowhere but again they were speaking racist things-), & the fact he armor created SPECIFICALLY FOR HIM makes him a prompted killing machine (if he chooses to, he doesn't really like killing though unless it's nessary)
While the Diary he has is called "A Stargazer's Diary" he doesn't only use it to talk about the stars she seen in the night (he's a bit nocturnal bcs horrible sleep schedule from the past which stayed with her), He also talks about their life in it & some research things. Luckily, she does have bookmarks for each item in his diary. It's unknown how may pages are in the diary, but it's a pretty long one, so there must be a lot of pages. (Now, before you ask, no, Chris does not show his diary to ANYONE! It's meant to be a diary for a REASON!)
Chris has a set of water-repellent boots that are a part of his work suit. This is bcs in a certain test these boots actually seem to only work with him & not anyone else, so yeh they were upgraded to be for her only & anyone who does wear his suit won't have the water-repellent effects of the boots. (Chris can swim, but since he is weak, physically dood can't really swim for that long).
Chris actually has their own little weapons given to them by the company (Stellowbark Corp). One of these known weapons is the Soulwiper, a one time use gun which can be only used under certain circumstances (primarily in a fight with a very powerful figure). It's often used by Chris as a finisher. How it's used is it uses Primal energy (a rare material which is only common in GodHome) as its main bullet & when it's facing the person it's gonna target (Although weakened bcs that's how it works... at least according to the rules), it turns the target into a pile of dust while a strange colored spark which is actually their soul fly up into the aether. Chris never actually owned this gun first bcs it was highly regarded as a "tool no one should ever use" due to how dangerous it is, but now Chris owns it. (But since he is a good boi, she only uses it when finishing a powerful threat off bcs that's how it was intended to be use) (Spoiler: Yeh he used this to finish the Serpent King off in the royal arena but with the help of SK's eldest son, Tenmore)
Chris never really was able to indulge with his culture at a young age. Yes, he did live with his gramma (who was also Filipino), but she was more westernized (bcs this gramma of his was his dad's mother who was actually born in America). Now he did eat a few foods from his culture, but some tweaks & in some much, much smaller portions bcs clearly due to his pretty thin body at the time.... he couldn't eat much even if he wanted to (trust me, his gramma wanted to feed him alot like a lot of gramma Stereotypically do, but DOOD WAS SO THIN, WHICH ISNT NORMAL FOR A YOUNG KID!) But slowly & steadily he's kinda getting into the spirit of his culture bcs of Stellowbark. (Bcs I don't how to say this, but Stellowbark's food court (which is huge btw) has a lot of ethic foods from different cultures from earth & other planets. He'll they even have often for ppl who have allergies & even have lactose/gluten intolerance.)
He & Konn'a might share the same braincell- no I'm not kidding these 2 will often share a braincell for no reason bcs idk while they are smart they can also be idiots. (& both of them do have problems but if you KNOW Chris... he has more of them-)
Chris's fave food is... Cheesy hot dogs & rice. All bcs he got it hot at a vending machine in the food court which he weirdly enjoyed bcs it was truly the first time he had good good food. (Minus what his gramma & his adopted family made, those were good too but most of his life after his parents divorce yeh he.... he didn't do so well) (Now you gotta add some veggies & a egg & boom, you have longsilog but with cheesy hot dogs instead of the normally small soosages. Not traditional but eh Chris doesn't care about traditional HE ONLY WANTS TO EAT!)
When Chris isn't working (bcs she works part time due to his... pretty serious issues..) he is often cooking, going to the store/going on a slight walk. But for the most part it's either his caretaker doing the going to the store/cooking part bcs Chris can't be up for a few hours or so. (Idk bro might have low iron in her system as well) Also bcs oil scares the ever living frik out Chris (like me-) DO yeh... the only things Chris really does is either stay in his room & write in his diary, hang out in the food court (bcs she likes the vibes there + since it's so huge she can just be whatever she wants by himself) or just being near the only ppl they can literally trust. (Chris also enjoys drawing but is pretty self conscious about it)
Chris can play a kazoo, that's it. No other instruments just K A Z O O ! (Bcs no actual effort is truly needed if yur playing a K A Z O O )
Chris sleeps like if he was a wood plank on the ground. No one knows why she does this, he just do. Like he literally lays ON HIS FACE WITHOUT MOVING A INCH OF HER BODY WITH NO NOISES AT ALL! (This is not how a human should sleep but Chris is obviously unhinged & no, this is not trauma based, this is just one of Chris's extremely weird quirks that no one understands)
So yeh that's all of the facts I have for Chris. (Who's also the protag of ASGD)

Tbh the atsv fan "characterization" that pisses me off the most is the Miles Morales Prowler shit. Thats just a 15 year old. Good god. It makes me want to punch a bitch. At least Hobie is punk (even tho like. I still super dont like thag a lot of characterizations of him that seem to rely too much on the fact that a lot of Punk Thingz™️ (namely, drugs and hate for authority) are also antiblack stereotypes and we should be giving benefit of the doubt in these cases)
But Miles Morales is still Miles Morales, even if in a dif universe he's the prowler and his hair's different(? Im ngl im white and idk if it has anything to do with this, but ive seen his hair referenced before as important). I also see a lot of ppl forgetting how Morales was treated after the first movie, that fuckin colored pencil post still makes me mad.
Pissing me tf off. Sorry for mini rant it just seems you are also on this topic rn and none my friends seem that into the spiderverse 😔
Oh the moment I tried to block the Miguel tag (which DIDNT WORK, btw), the Miles G reader stuff showed up and I had instant regret 😭 but I haven't seen much for him outside of that. I'm glad I haven't, now.
Tbh, I wasn't really into Fandom when ITSV came out, so I (gratefully) missed all of the bullshit I heard happen with that one.
What's really pissed me off about Miles' seeming depiction by fandom, at least in the sections I've seen, is...idk if I'm saying this right.... To over simplify him? Like it frustrates me that a movie, both movies, the existence of Miles Morales himself, ALL have to do with themes of race, representation, and belonging. Yes there are plenty of other messages that are important, but all of them connect back to that identity too.
And people are just... Glossing over that. In this desire to go "oh he's so precious"- in what I'm sure is white ppls well-intentioned attempt to not be seen as a racist that doesn't care about Black children- they are still managing to completely ignore how his identity is symbolic in the storytelling. It's colorblindness in a movie where seeing race is essential and if you're gonna ignore it you might as well not even watch it at all bc at its core it's HIS story.
Like yeah, you think he's queer allegory, yeah you recognize how it feels to not belong, how to fight the status quo, fantastic, I love it, are you actually engaging with the race aspect that affects his experience of all of those things? Are you processing that when Rio said he might not be accepted in spaces, just maybe you have brown friends who feel that way in white spaces, fan and otherwise (esp now with affirmative action lmao, but always with Miles in the comics and dealing with fans). It's easy to think a multicultural movie with a Brown antagonist, well it "can't have to do with race" and that's just not true.
That's why people fixating on Hobie mildly disturbs me too; he TOO is a BLACK punk. That makes a difference, in his solidarity and what that meant for Black viewers. Or how they're ignoring Margo altogether despite her crucial role in his escape. Or how they're refusing to engage with Jessica Drew with understanding (you don't have to agree with her! I don't! But to understand where she stands in that spectrum from Hobie to Miguel, she is not nearly as bad as fandom wants to believe; she's actually comparable to Peter B but misogynoir prevents that conversation).
Like I am so happy we are finally entering an era where Black and Brown people are seeing themselves more on screen in roles we've yearned for, I am. But that also means it's time for white people to start engaging with what that means, and that means unlearning and learning.

Does anyone else hate how Grayson or humans in general have been called racist?
Like how? Here, the Fey are the oppressors and humans the oppressed race? The narrative itself says how brutal and barbaric the Fey are...and how they still harm humans even after the treaty. Not mention humans were literal slaves?
Grayson (or any human for that matter) has every right to remain cautious of them. To hold prejudices because even though our beloved MCs don't fit into the stereotype a lot of other Fey do. I mean the humans at present weren't alive to see Rhysie fighting for humans because they were hard to mind r*pe and bred frequently. Could Grayson have handled the whole elain thing better? Tbh no?! That's literally how men in real life wud react? Elain is faster, stronger and turned into a monster he thinks Fey are so yeah he feels hurt and betrayed and threatened? And Elain also has every right to cry over Grayson. I hated the way everyone just expected her to 'move on' so quickly and called her a cry baby because she didn't. Like no, not everyone is like your spinless queen feyre who starts behaving and cursing like the Fey when she has been Fey for like 2 secs. Srsly? Did no one find it weird the Feyrug was cursing and swearing "by the cauldron" in acomaf?
Look, maybe i don't remember the books right? Maybe ppl hate Grayson cause of some abusive shit I literally have no idea, but don't call him or the queens or humans racist when they have every right to condemn the Fey. Fairies killed humans right? So why are the humans suddenly racist for fighting back? For not letting it come to a point where they have to fight for their life because they will loose? It's all just really badly written. It gives me white people calling poc racist for pointing out white privilege vibes.

Hmmm Reva star war. Is interesting. I keep seeing ppl dislike her either bc ppl are racist, or bc they see her as embodying stereotypes and just being the typical "ah we have a dark skinned black woman who's bad so she's the angry black woman stereotype" and like. I think the second one is founded and does have a valid point and should be acknowledged that no matter how well it's done it's very Choice that she's one of the few prominent black characters and she was made a villain, but I think both of these opinions on her so far are kinda reductive and overlook her as a character which to me is also an issue.
Like, I am black I'm afab I'm not a woman but I am a woc per society etc etc I'm not talking out of my ass rn. But like. I think very baseline as she stands she very well could go in the direction of being an angry black woman stereotype, but I think with how the show has set up her character, to me it reads like she's actually being set to be explored as a character and as a person she's shown to be more driven/emotionally invested in a lot of whats going on because she's looked down on and struggles to be recognized because of that and she has wants outside of this that she needs recognition for, no matter what it takes to get it. It right now looks like she wants power/status but I feel like the implication is she wants more? Reva was a child when Order 66 happened and with that knowledge alone her character could go on such an interesting path and we've not even seen her past yet. Compared to the other inquisitors she's aggressive and willing and ready to fight but at the same time with the way she's written I don't really believe she's written this way in order to reduce her to just aggressive and crazy and angry for the sake of it and it being doubled down on by playing into her blackness. With how she's contrasted against the other inquisitors as actually caring about her job and getting results but having her credit stolen and her having to be this hardened person to be even slightly recognized, to me personally I kind of enjoyed it in how it felt similar to the way black women always have to over-compensate and go further than everyone else just to hope to get the same privileges and recognition they do (even though majority of the time they still don't get them) and Reva doing this and being fed up with it and even killing the head Inquisitor, it felt kind of satisfying to me, her having to overcompensate and do all this and then seeing it results in nothing, and instead of laying down and being okay with being taken advantage of, she kills the guy who's taking her credit.
I don't know... The way I see it I think if Reva's character was any other race or just A White Girl she'd be applauded for being this girlboss character not letting men take advantage and step all over her and being driven and knowing what she wants, and I know her blackness informs the perception and intention behind her character but I don't think her character should be discarded for being surface level similar to a stereotype. I think the stereotype is a lot of the times based on/informed by the way black women have to harden themselves and deal with all of the shit society throws at them and do the absolute fucking most to get what they want rather than babying white ppls feelings and allowing themselves to be stepped on, and Reva at this point in time reads like that to me rather than a caricature of black femininity. She very well Could Go Off The Rails and I will be Very Upset if she does, but I think she's shown some interesting character details and has a lot of potential to go in a good direction.
I think another interesting thing that kind of steps away from this and may be me very much overthinking is just the way her design is. Typically I think this like caricature of black women is accompanied by fetishization, or dehumanization, or both. The framing of "Oh this scary, wild black woman with crazy ugly hair and animal-like (or even man-like if they wanna be extra transphobic/misogynistic) features." Or "Oh this aggressive, obsessive, overly sexual crazed concept of a mindless lustful black woman". But Reva isn't either of these, even in a subtle way. I kind of love her design I love she has natural hair done in cornrows I love she has a very blatantly black hairstyle and it's given to her where it meshes with the inquisitor uniform to give her a very graceful and powerful look. I love that she's feminine and her style kind of leans into that even with her fighting style and her being acrobatic and somewhat relying on more graceful maneuvers instead of strong-arming through everything I enjoy she's a black woman allowed to be even in slight ways feminine and graceful when that's not something usually seen at all.
Do I think her being a main villain is probably racially motivated no matter how well she's written? Yeah Lmfao. Either that or it's due to more ignorance I'm willing to assume of anyone working on this show. Do I think she drifts very close perhaps even uncomfortably close to a stereotype? Yeah, esp w how star wars fans can be *cough* stupid as fuck and racist and will blatantly misinterpret her as said stereotype no matter what *cough cough*. Do I think she is irrideemable bad rep, and a racist portrayal of black women? See above, not at this point but time will tell.
U can rb n comment or reply in tags n wtvr do not think u should add on to my post unless ur black tho lmao

I saw your post about ppl losing their shiz about Kaeya fanart being “whitewashed” when it’s literally darker than he is in canon. I agree btw I love like basically all Kaeya art out there I love one eyepatch man.
anyhoo, I have a story. I once saw a tiktok about a kaeya art. it was specifically labeled “IN PROGRESS” or whatever so you knew the artist wasn’t done. it was a gorgeous piece of art btw. So far, the only thing that had been colored was his hair and some of his clothes.
pretty much everyone in the comments started harrasing her about how he was whitewashed and the artist had to be a white supremacist and i think someone said “see I knew everyone who played genshin was racist just delete the game at this point.”
i was just like 😳 wow jeez it’s literally IN PROGRESS the artist legit said so.
the artist eventually posted the final version (after having to delete the first video and deal with several threats) it did turn out beautiful, but on the comments there and on every post of theirs after people are lurkign in the comments bad-mouthing them.
as much as I definitely am for characters not being whitewashed (especially Kaeya bc I love him your honor) I think some people take it way too far when the person they’re yelling at literally just wanted to get people excited about their WIP.
hi! sorry im so late this issue became quite sensitive lol i had to work up the courage to come back to it. it's gonna be a bit long, but i really need to say all this
if there's one thing i noticed about the genshin community on tiktok and twitter, it's that there is a whole, whole lot of social justice warriors and overall it's extremely toxic. it's something that surprised me because the people i interact with on tumblr are all super sweet and not one bit toxic so? idk, tumblr is just a different breed i guess
your story is extremely saddening. everytime there's a kaeya fanart, people forget about the color theory and the artists' style and claim it's whitewashed and i genuinely don't understand why. if someone could explain it to me, am i missing something? im not an artist so perhaps im mistaken, idk, but i've never seen a fanart where kaeya was whitewashed.
the thing that pisses me off the most is that most of the time it's white ppl calling something whitewashed. i'm not saying you shouldn't call out racism if you see it just bc you're white, just that these people aren't even right - and often you see poc coming into the debate and explaining it's not whitewashed/saying it doesn't bother them. moreover, i've literally seen fanart of beidou as a black girl, which isn't representation in my opinion - beidou is already a poc, and asian people need at least as much representation as black people, so it's plain racism. same thing with kaeya, i've seen edits of him with stereotypical african features, and it's really sad that no one is calling this out but yelling about whitewashing as soon as he isn't the exact same color as the official arts. hell, someone even said "so what if it's darker? it's still whitewashing" and i??? am flabbergasted. whitewashing is absolutely disgusting, but ppl keep misunderstanding what it means and just using it to gratuitously harass artists.
now, don't get me wrong. i believe that you can draw whatever you want. but the thing is - if you get mad when someone draws kaeya white (if they really do, i mean), you can't just applaud someone else's that draws another character black. racism goes both ways, and it's bordering on fetishism. i, as a poc (mixed-race, caucasian + african), am extremely uncomfortable everytime i see this double-standard.
but anyway, the fact remains that sjw have plagued the genshin fandom. and it's not just about kaeya's skin color (we don't even know if he's really a poc - we know he's tan according to paimon, and i believe she called him "exotic"? so idk) but also about the ships. everytime i see a shippy tiktok, there's plenty of ppl out here saying it's wrong, claiming their own ship is the most canon. if i'm not mistaken, kaeluc is the one that gets the most hate, and i genuinely, once again, don't understand why.
i talked about them before and explained how it's not incest bc they really aren't brothers, but i swear every now and then i see people throwing death threats and slurs anytime someone hints at them. idk if you are familiar with the eng va's fandom, but sometimes they play among us together, aether's va does some livestreams where he invites different voice actors. but diluc's va is never there, and i was wondering why - recently i learned that it's because he retweet a fanart of kaeya and diluc fighting alongside each other (not even a shippy fanart, apparently) and people harassed him and excluded him from the fandom. and now the same thing is happening to griffin burns, childe's va, bc he retweeted (or liked, idk) a fanart of lumine and childe fighting or something and people called it pedophilia bc lumine would be a minor. i'm not even gonna dive into this bc the travelers are canonically like 30 times childe's age, but what i mean is - people are so full of hate and i can't fathom living like this?
the point is, i totally respect anyone who doesn't ship something i ship. i myself don't like certain ships - like zhongli/xiao, jean/diluc - but im not gonna harass ppl who do just because i can? that's messed up, i just don't get it. i wish the fandom wasn't that bad bc i really enjoy this game
anyway, im really disappointed but still grateful, bc my followers & people i've interacted with here have been nothing but sweet and respectful. i hope none of y'all come across the toxic side of the genshin fandom. stay safe y'all!

Yuetara, zukka, and maiko
yuetara
ship
1) its not one of my main ships. i dont rlly read fanfic for them but if i see a cute fanart of them ill enjoy it and i think i first started shipping it because of good fanarts for them.
2) i like yuetara because of how similar they are. theyre both women from the water tribe. they both understand the misogyny that they have faced. and they both said f sexism im gonna be a strong woman. i also love the tui and la parallel. moon spirit and ocean spirit parallel COME ON. YUE IS THE MOON. KATARA IS THE MOST POWERFUL WATERBENDER. THEY ARE THE OCEAN AND THE MOON. the push and pull they could give eachother. that dynamic ftw.
3) i guess if i didnt like something about this ship would be the fact that if i read a fic or see a fanart w yuetara then than means in that particular au i wont get any yuekka and yuekka is probably my second favorite ship. but then again if i get yuetara than i could get a plethora of other sokka ships to go with it so my sadness disappears in like two seconds. gosh shipping is hard sometimes until you remember ‘hey i have like fifty different universes in my head. all ur ships can coexist in ur brain olivia’ other than that i really see no downsides to this ship. maybe i wish it had more content. maybe if it had more content id ship it a lot more but its not one of the more popular ships so the content is kinda few n far between on my feed.
zukka:
SHIPPP
1) my boys. my babies. my loves. i watched this show for the first time when it came out on netflix and when it ended i really didnt ship anything other than kataang. i came onto tumblr to find fun atla content and one of the very first things i saw under the atla tag was zukka content. i was like oh? whats this? zukka? interesting... i was intrigued so i found a list of fic recs and i fell in love with the ship. the rest is history. its probably my number one ship because it was my very first ship here and im nostalgic
2) oh boy there is so much i like about this ship. i relate to a shit ton of characters in atla. but sokka and zuko may be the ones i relate to most. i relate to sokka because i tend to feel second best a lot to my friends. i try to stay positive but things rarely go the way i plan or hope for them too and while im happy for my friends and their achievements i oftentimes find myself thinking why cant that be me? and i see this a lot in sokka especially in sokkas master. i dont feel special a lot and idk seeing sokka feel the same way and then realizing he is special kinda helped me realize that im special too. on the flipside i relate to zuko because i have wild anger issues and difficulty dealing w my emotions a lot as well. i get broody and short tempered and insecure very often and i tend to push people away and i refuse to ask for help (the amount of teachers and adults and therapists who have told me its okay to ask for help ur not any weaker because of it is astounding. do i listen to them? .....im working on it.) and i saw a shit ton of this in zuko. book one and two zuko rarely asks for help as seen in the blue spirit and zuko alone and he pushes away uncle so many times and even when the gaang iffers to help him in i think its the chase he tells them to leave. when he finally has his redemption and joins the gaang and lets them kinda become a better person i was so happy. i want that for myself yk. seeing him finally win the agni kai and overcome his family that always told him he was nothing was such a win. my sister and i get along but when we were children we were very much like zuko and azula. it was extremely competitive all the time and there was so much toxicity and sibling drama to a concerning extent. we get along great now which im very happy about but yeah their sibling relationship hit a lil too on the nose for me. seeing as i relate to these character so much and want them ti be happy i want to live vicariously through them so seeing them together is amazing for me to project into them. i love projecting onto fictional characters and with them i can project onto BOTH so its a winwin. plus so many zukka fics are so well written and heartwarming and heartbreaking and emotional and fluffy anf UGH the talent here us astounding.
3) what do i not like about the ship? again the list is long. oops. mainly the toxic shippers. there are so many toxic zukka stans that sometimes make it hard for me to enjoy this ship but hey! thats what the block button is for:) i despise how often people infantilize zuko and completely ruin his character for the sake of making him a soft weak lil boy who needs protecting. thats just not zuko for me. and ive seen many many accounts even state that this kind of portrayal of zuko is rooted in racist stereotypes about asian men (now i am white so i personally have never experiences racism but i feel the need to bring that up because it is wrong and attention needs to be brought to it because a lot of poc fans have criticised this) and the same for sokka. some ppl rlly skew his character and make him a big strong brute and hypermasculine and once again poc fans have said that this take is rooted in racist stereotypes. again! these are just my opinions! this is my favorite ship! but i think its important to acknowledge some of the bad parts of our ships as well and be critical where criticism is needed :))
maiko
ship
1) I LOVE MAIKO. “i dont hate you” “i dont hate you too” BRUH. my little heart just burst into flames. im sorry guys but maiko is so cute. they hate everything except eachother. BRUH that is one of the cutest tropes. i shipped them the moment i saw them together onscreen and i was so happy when zukos face lit up in the finale when mai came back.
2) “i hate everything but i have a soft spot for you” TAKE MY MONEY I AM A SUCKER FOR THIS. they are so cute together. like zuko is rarely happy in a majority of atla but mai makes him happy and i- 🥺🥺 HE DESERVES IT. and mai is always so supportive of him. when hes stressing out about the war meeting she tries her best to comfort him. and zuko cares about her too. he may not be the best at showing it but oh my god hes TRYING HIS BEST. i think its a very accurate portrayal of teenage relationships because they arent perfect and they do fight but like,, every teenage relationship does that. and even after everything and how he left her in the fire nation she still had his back at boiling rock. she still risked her life against azula to save his butt.
3) the thing i hate about maiko isnt even about maiko. its about antis who think mai is toxic and that zuko deserves better. that has got to be the worst take ive ever heard. they had a fight in ember island. that is NORMAL. they are teenagers. they are not perfect. but underneath all the rough edges and things they need to work out they still care about eachother so freaking much. i genuinelt believe that neither of them would do anything to intentionally hurt the other and i think thats what matters the most. if anything mai is the best girlfriend in the entire world because zuko fucked up like,, quite a few times. he got rlly jealous and dumped her thru a letter and ppl always say that mai was toxic for being mad at him for those two things. umm she had every right to be mad at him for both of those. and while zuko is allowed to feel his emotions and be angry sometimes as well sometimes he needs to think things thru and realize that hey maybe some if this jealousy is unfounded. BUT EVEN THEN. HE RESPECTED HER FEELINGS AND DIDNT TOUCH HER WHEN SHE SAID DONT TOUCH ME. HE RESPECTED HER. so i hate toxic maiko takes because they are literally so wrong in my opinion.
again all of these are just my opinions!! feel free to agree or disagree but please be respectful!! i will respect whatever u think as well because this is all just for fun :)

dragon age: all characters (companions)
I’ve been in this fandom for a hot minute now and I want to update my opinions on characters :)
Origins
Alistair: super sweet dude who literally is not the stereotypicalchantryguyfightme. He’s a great example of healthy masculinity and I totally wish he was bi because I have an entire essay on that— also: he’s a poc! His mum was brown. In game he’s got dark features. if you really want a blond/blue-eyes/white guy, make your warden that. or accept that brown people can be noble and moral. or just draw cailan, idk. just because BioWare whitewashes doesn’t mean you should.
Leliana: someone hug my singing girlfriend before I crush her under with my own hugs. Also: nugs. Yes! Shoes. Yes! She likes how I style my hair? YES!! I honestly think she’s super duper and it pisses me off whenever someone’s like: yeah she enjoys killing people and the Game. ok. and michel de chevin willingly participated in genocidal marches through the alienage he grew up in with his elvhen mum.
Morrigan: dirty swamp witch that i stan and also have a v big crush on. tiddies. Have a son with a GW so we can raise him with our tiddies out in the forest. she’s also white-passing, as her father was chasind and all people we’ve seen that are chasind are black. therefore, she is biracial. therefore, poc can be goths and don’t shy away from giving morrigan a darker skintone. if the devs had of been thinking, she’d have a darker skintone.
Zevran: Actually is the best romance, I think. Loves consent, therefore I will stan him so hard my skull cracks a little. Also: he is a very brown boy and if he’s white in da4 I’m seriously going to throw all canon out the fucking window. genuinely a good person who needs to be told so.
Wynne: grandma who only likes my friends who go to church. but also super sweet and I’d rest my head on her bosom (in a platonic way omg ZEVRAN)
Sten: angry quiet boi. the bestest boi. I totally would give him a kitten for a gift and bake him cookies. Thicc softie. I think if I had DA:O and i knew how to use mods i would mod the fuck outta him. sorry.
Sha(y)le: who’s gender? idk her. See also: fuck birds and authority. pound ur ass into the ground you feathery meatbag little shits. fuck songbirds.
Dog: such a good boi. thicc. thinks Alistair is a whiny fuck and is Morrigan’s only friend. love him. he’s the cutest companion. bet.
Ohgren: honestly forgot about him bcc he’s such a shitbag. also: he could’ve been a really cool addiction recovery type but NOPE. probably would have a trump shirt in a modern au and would catcall wlw and hit mlm. no thanks.
Awakening
Anders: he acts like rlly straight but he’s so gay I can smell it. also he’s rlly cute and fun and I love him so much.
Justice: MAYBE i’M selF CONSCious OF THE twitchING. is the friend that genuinely doesn’t get dick jokes but is ur 110% ride or die.
Nathaniel Howe: honestly is sort of a white knight/neck beard a little, but it’s kind of charming with his whole velanna m’lady?? grump boi. annoying soul patch that I’d mod out SO FAST—
Sigrun: would have ROMANCED the FUCK out of her. why she even entertains the idea of fucking with ohgren makes me realize most of the writers are dumbfucks.png. peppy little emo. 12/10 would die if she kissed my cheek teasingly.
Ohgren: why. why. why. I’d have brought Shayle over. Maybe Zev? Definitely Dog.
Velanna: she was written to be an annoying feminist and you can tell but I deadass am a kindred spirit with her bcc I too am deadpan annoyed with Thedas’ general population too. love her. Would’ve loved to romance her. She’d totally be one of those who’d get all tsundere and be like “n-no i hate you” *kisses the fuckin soul out of you then blushes so hard she’s now a tomato*
Dragon Age II
Anders: fuck the cops. i don’t care. fuck the cops. (vine reference). also: do i hate him for blowing up the chantry that would eventually annul a huge collection of his people? no. read dalishious’s meta on Anders. v intriguing. didn’t they retcon the fuck out of the reported deaths too? like there was like eight Templars and Elthinia in there. Templars killed more “abominations” in a day than Anders in the game canon—
Aveline: initially thought she was fine and then realized she’s shit to my lil brother and I will fucking clap her ginger ass. See also: whorephobia isn’t a joke so fuck off with treating Isabela badly, you tit.
Bethany: sunshine. Literal sunshine. I feel my freckles grow in her presence and i love it. she’s my little baby sister and I’d slam that ogre so fuckin hard before it touched either twin.
Carver: there has to be a mod where both twins survive. I love them both to bits. My babies. carver is my bitter, angry little brother and I can relate because I too am very angry and would totally clap my own ass. hes so genuine and I don’t get the competition between Beth and Carver. Like, both are fuckin stellar in different ways. In this essay I will—
Fenris: honestly, I don’t get the general hate between him and Anders. Fenris’ main arc should’ve been a recovery arc, not drunken moping and revenge. he deserves better. give him a soft sweater instead of his spikes and let him love himself as much as I love him for MAKERS SAKE. like when you really think about their relationship, it could’ve been an eye-opener for fenris and finally some legit sympathy for anders. but we all know that if they had of teamed up that Meredith would’ve been dead before the end of Act 1 so.
Isabela: whorephobia is not a joke. oversexualizing your only appearing brown woman is so poorly written. how about we appreciate her and her lovely bosoms but also let people tease her about her heart of gold? her innate understanding of freedom? instead of just a wave of dick? please?? can we give her some pants for when she fights? can we accept that i fall for rogues who hate themselves?? fuck. also whomever draws her x femHawke x Merrill literally is after my own heart.
Merrill: my fucking babygirl MARRY ME. Fenris could’ve been her older brother type, but NO. she and Isabela should’ve been canonical gfs instead of Isabela/Fenris (no shaming the pairing tho!!). I love how she’s written as neurodivergent. V nice. Sometimes I just look her up and cry because she’s fucking everything. Also: she’s in the Dalish origin and she’s far from being white. Why did they make the most innocent/naïve character really white? hmmmm.
Sebastian: whew that boy. Would totally be that annoying Mormon at your door but you still let him in bcc he’s super sweet. Also: huge ass bible thumper and should get his head slap because you said the maker loved all his children why do you defend a complicit old hag you annoying attractive fuck—
Varric: totally is a bard and the devs couldn’t handle the idea of him being one bcc it might make him look less straight. is the only grey morality person I don’t want to fucking bash in with a fry pan. he sees people and I like that, but you totally know he’s siding with mages every time bcc him and Anders are like besties. I’m sorry. I don’t make the rules. “Professional Younger Brother”.
Tallis: I know nothing about her but she seems okay. I think she was an escaped slave and honestly? Fucking props. Spy on a shitting organization, idk what you’re doing, but your VA was that cool lesbian from SPN so I think ur okay?
Inquisition
Blackwall: Redemption Arc 101. Love him to bits. Sad dad bunwall. good man. actually atoned for his sins by actively becoming a good person. his initial design is 80% hotter im so sorry but so not.
Cassandra: was way browner in the last game. would romance the fuck outta her. I love me a butch lady who melts at my dorky recitation of poetry. BioWare is a coward. also is the worst choice for divine. but not a bad person. could use some more guidance or get her ass whipped by a dalish elf about religion or a circle mage kid whos like “yeah bud i didn’t ask for the templars to whip my ass everyday for existing.”
The Iron Bull: I think the Qunari/Vashoth were a little based off black people (the whole anti blackness thing where ppl are scared of them bcc of whatever reason) and it pisses me off that he had a weird ass dubcon thing with Dorian in banter. It doesn’t make sense— he’s an A+++ dom and would not jump straight in role play without at least checking in at first like wtf BioWare.
Cole: his mother was chasind so he’s like not supposed to be that white? or like biracial? albino? idk. love him to bits tho. He’s neurodivergent and I deadass love him. romancing him? idk. I see why ppl think it’s fuckin nasty but also like as a writer I’d age him the fuck up so fast before my inquisitor even THOUGHT about that. like idk. I’m down with him being a sweet little bro character tho. he’s a babe. love him.
Sera: had the worst fucking writer I’ve ever seen and I willingly read the twilight saga twice by a shit ass racist white lady who okay’d pedophilia. like. Fuck you Kristjanson suck your own dick you fuck. had the worst options in regards to speak to her. has a thicc case of internalized racism that literally most of the fandom just loves to use against her. my lesbian neurodivergent queen. Would write a thousand fix it fics for her. Love her to bits. im gay.
Varric: I haven’t played DA2 so i don’t get why everyone wants to romance him but like. a dwarf romance? yes please. Idk he reminds me of my uncle so I only see him as fun uncle material. Deadass should adopt Cole and Merrill and co parent with Blackwall for Sera. dads? fuck yeah. love me some wholesome, present fathers.
Dorian: is a gay stereotype that I love/hate so much. and he’s also just as bad about being a creep bcc he sexualizes qunari men (in banter). I attribute that to shit writing tho. I want to protect him from all the “omg gay best friend!” people. he’d clearly be that tired gay that wouldn’t give a diddly damn about ur het romance. wanna talk about politics? he’s ur guy/gay.
Solas: “me, an intellectual:”. I don’t hate him, but I’m not about him. He comes off as mysterious and suave (which he totally is) but I deadass would not save him from himself because he’s a racist, exclusionist eggshell. idk. not my cup of tea, but I can totally see the appeal. And he’s interesting, I’ll totally say that. “I think the Dalish are garbage but they made you” is not a compliment. it’s so offensive. and such bait for “quirky girls” which I’m no fan of. Would be Achilles and let Patroclus (Lavellan in his case) die before he realized how his pride is literally a waste of time. If he gets a redemption arc I hope Lavellan gets to slap him before getting him to teach all about ancient Arlathan and show that the Evanuris weren’t all total dicknozzles. (Aka I really have a hard time believing that they’d be slavery cult things. especially since they’ve compared elves to indigenous ppl, Jews and the Romani.)
Vivienne: it’s so racist that they’d make a black woman be pro-slavery. That’s such internalized racism. She could’ve been the cool ass “educate yourself first before you speak, fool” ice lady, but NO. the devs could’ve kept the “Templars are a tool that I proudly can mandate” and the “circles are very good education” and we. Could. Have. Romanced. Her. Like. Fuck. Sake. I just wanna give her a hug and say “love yourself omg!!” and not even in a romantic way. Also: she and morrigan should not have been so antagonistic towards each other. I’d expect them to have great respect for each other, as they both moved up in the world through hardwork and very little help. They could learn different magic from each other too and still maintain that rival respect “oh you” mood. Sidenote: probably the cooler option for Divine. if her approval is high enough she’ll love and be loyal to you forever and i can’t see her agenda being bad. she improves the circles exponentially and tells all the antis to suck her pretty painted toes.
Josephine: an actual disney princess. romanced her my first playthrough. I love her so much. she just makes me so happy. And she’s like: “Integrity, Loyalty, peace. That is what it means to be a GREY WARDEN good fucking person.” she’s the person who would let you hold her hand if you got anxious and she’d be that person who shouldered the whole group project with finesse and poise and would probably lie for everyone as to not be mean. i love josie. her and leliana’s relationship is so cute, too. whether it’s romantic or not: women supporting women.
Leliana: if you leave her hardened you must hate her. why. she becomes so against herself. i like how shes feminine and lighthearted because that’s so powerful-- to remain hopeful when the world is hopeless. (its hard to know when to soften her/harden her so i get it but. google it. she deserves to be happy and sweet again.)
Cullen: uwu war criminal with shit ass “redemption arc” that was actually a half-assed (at BEST) recovery arc. Recovery isn’t linear, it isn’t pretty, and even the broken need to be told they are wrong in order to heal right. Like I’m offended by that bullshit. I’ve had to do some mental health recovery in the past and unlearning lots of toxic ideologies— which I’m still unlearning— and it bothers me that he gets an easy pass because he’s hot. It’s one thing if you like Cullen, it’s another thing if you hold him accountable.

Hey! Could I get to know some of your headcanons about dickfigures/your designs for them? :D
ya ya sure!!!!
i already have my designs for them up if you havent seen, here they are!
as for headcanons idk how long this post will be so ill just add a read more for anyone who might not wanna scroll thru it all lol
red!!!!!
his real name is rowan bc i thought it was cute, also it means “little red one” which is eVEN BETTER
he’s nonbinary masc and bisexual! the self projection is REAL
he has adhd
most of my headcanons kinda flow into my own version of dick figures because i’m not very Satisfied with canon NJSJDNSKM so like. for example red doesn’t just kill people or whatever. he gets into fights and has scars and wears bandaids a lot bc of them
he graduated college with blue, he got a bachelor’s degree in fine arts (honestly idk how college works bc im a grade 10 baby so if thats like totally wrong just let me know also im. canadian so idk how american school system works LOL)
red got suspended a lot in high school but never expelled. mostly bc he got in fights that were mainly him protecting stacey from shitty people (he sees her as his sister so he was rlly protective) and the school wasnt really sure what else to do so they just. you know. suspended him a bunch of times hoping itd do something but it didnt
he hates his dad! reason being is bc when he was born, his dad was actually an alien able to disguise himself as human, so he wanted to take red back to his home planet cuz red turned out to be more powerful than anything his dad had ever seen. but red’s mom was like Nope, so she snuck out with him and his plush cat (kitty amazing) and they were never found. red is very close with his mom and is scared of his dad coming back someday
we know he canonically likes rlly loud music so im just gonna project here and say he’s a metalhead. at least, some form of it. he likes the alt scene music and industrial rock. examples being deftones, nine inch nails, skinny puppy, rage against the machine, kittie and others. it keeps him focused and calm
bLUE!!!
we know blue was bullied as a kid but i dont wanna say red also bullied him bc i feel like thats just wrong to me? MAYBE ITS NOT ACTUALLY but it just makes me sad so like. lets say red, being as protective as he is, stood up for blue a lot cuz he was like “oh this kid cant fight” so he knew what to do
blue dated pink for awhile but they mutually agreed to break up after blue realized this wasnt what he wanted (he came to the conclusion that he was gay, well, he knew for awhile but it was Internalized Homophobia)
he grew up in a very conservative family so to see the world completely differently by meeting red, ems (lt), pink and stacey was a very good thing for him. unfortunately even tho his family did love him, it was conditional so they stopped talking to him after he came out. thankfully he’d already graduated high school by that point
despite being emotional blue isnt very good at understanding how he’s an emotional person. he’s able to distinct one feeling from another and analyze them, but it’s just... hard for him to kind of. process WHY he feels a certain way? which is what’s led to a lot of his struggles in getting closer with ppl
he loooves reading and writing we already know this but i mean come on. he also got a bachelor’s degree in english/ela. so he’s able to become a teacher ig but he doesn’t really want to? at least not for awhile yet
blue was ems’ first friend. at first he couldn’t understand why they had tics but decided he shouldn’t get into someone else’s business. he didn’t find it weird, just cool!
he and red would always pair up for projects if they had classes together!!!!!! blue would do the writing/research and red would do the illustrations. they always turned out really good even if it ended with red cramming it at the last minute
surprisingly hates broseph more than red. well i mean its not surprising, because broseph was always a huge DICK to him
blue’s real name is wyatt!!!!! i forget the meaning but i felt the sound of it and the meaning fit him well
piiiiink!!!!!!!!!!
she’s still in college, getting her doctorate to be an astrophysicist!
pink is very very smart and will help anyone who’s struggling with something in school. she was basically the genius who always got in the honor roll every year. but, she actually was really anxious especially with exams
pink encourages stacey to go back to school, and sometimes stacey does, but she always ends up leaving again. it’s a little stressful but pink has hope for her
she’s never drank one sip of alcohol in her entire life. she smoked weed once, but it felt weird so she didn’t do it again
ever since she and blue broke up she’s been very supportive of him bc she herself is bisexual!!! so she sees nothing weird about it. in fact, about almost a year later she started dating stacey
pink’s real name is lily. when she became friends with blue she met red through him and she was like “can i join your nickname thing” and they said “sure” so they called her pink. stacey sometimes calls her pinky or just pink but mostly lily
pink helped red with academics. even tho he was sometimes insufferable to work with (/j thats a Joke i promise she’s a very patient person) she didn’t give up on him!!!! in return he helped her out with some fitness stuff cuz pink was always insecure about gym, and later when she graduated she actually got into exercising bc of red!
she loves travelling and going for walks. she owns a lot of houseplants and she’s given them all names and takes very good care of them! she also owns an albino ball python named Velvet
STACEYYY!!!!!!!
stacey is nOT actually all about sex this time ok. i don’t like that. i mean she did have some personality in canon but it wasn’t much? anyways she just really likes to express herself thru tight/”risque” clothing like fishnets and leather and pleated skirts and thigh-highs and platform boots, all of that. basically she’s a goth girl but doesn’t really “act” like one
she’s really intelligent when it comes to animals and insects and will tell you anything you need to know. when she goes back to college she gets a degree in environmental science
stacey can play the electric and bass guitars!!!! she was in a band back in high school but it never really went anywhere beyond performances at parties in someone’s garage. not that she didn’t like it, looking back on it makes her feel happy, but she wished it continued. probably why she has a hard time going back to college bc she’s not sure what she really wants
stacey is a trans woman btw!!!!! unfortunately it was a little difficult in high school to be who she was bc some kids were jerks, but there were a lot of others who supported her which is good
she views red as her brother as well and they still hang out a lot
i haven’t really had time to focus on stacey and make headcanons and stuff for her so i don’t have a lot but... let’s say, secretly, she’s a scifi nerd. and for the sake of debate, let’s say she’s a marvel fan. if you count being a fan of deadpool as being a fan of marvel
LOVES GIRLS.... loves pink!!!
has very similar music taste to red’s!!!!!
emssss!!!!!!! (lt)
instead of being a stereotype of ppl with tourette’s syndrome, it’s just a normal thing that isn’t focused on a whole lot. it doesn’t make ems swear but if they get really really frustrated they’ll curse while doing one of their tics
ems is agender, i’d say they’re also ageless but i don’t really want to make them too “nonhuman” because i feel like that’s dehumanizing to people with tourette’s. so let’s just say most laws of existence don’t apply to them
they’re very friendly!
they’re an aspiring musician, just like in canon
ems is also big into horror movies believe it or not. they’re pretty critical of them though like most horror movie fans, and only like specific ones (i’m not a horror movie fan myself so i can’t say what Specific Ones they like ajsdhbjn just imagine they have good taste okay)
they r very artsy too and like doing crafts cause it gives them something to focus on. it’s just a hobby though it’s not something they’re Professional at
they love nature and flowers and trees and all kinds of plants and animals!!! they like to document what they see when they travel thru nature and stuff so they bring a camera with them (and their phone, but, you know whatever)
ems was never really affected by things people said to them regarding their syndrome. to them it was something they were born with, so they couldn’t bother to feel bad about themselves. in certain situations theyre able to control it but 90% of the time they don’t care about what ppl think
aaaand there u go!!! as for minor characters like raccoon, jason/trollz0r, broseph, dingleberry, they all exist (raccoon isnt a racist stereotype tho), i just dont focus on them a whole lot. most of my hcs for stacey and ems here were thought up on the spot since i havent had time to lay out all my ideas for them but i hope what i have here is good !!!!
also, red and blue ARE dating, and pink and stacey ARE ALSO dating. gay rights

So most of North America is asleep, and I’m going to talk about how much Tamora Pierce hates Middle Eastern ppl.
I first met Tamora Pierce’s gross, colonialist perspective on Middle Eastern ppl in “Woman Who Rides Like A Man”, featuring Alanna! White Saviour, Creator’s Pet, and all around obnoxious early feminist fantasy heroine. I loathe her.
See, it’s Alanna’s job, as it is with so many of these White Heroines(continuing to this day) to teach the Bazhir, a nomadic desert culture that her nice pseudo-European culture has been oppressing for a couple hundred years that “Girls can do magic, too, we’re totally good at it! Girls are as good as boys, girl power, stop oppressing women, no more veils, rah, rah!”
This is kind of a hard job for one White Saviour to do on her own, so don’t worry!!!
White Saviour number two, who happens to be the crown prince of said cute little pretend europe(it’s England, okay, it’s always England, even when it’s the USA), is wandering around whining about having to, ya know, do his job, and it fortunately turns out he is the next incarnation of the head of the Bazhir religion! So he can totally colonize them even more!
And this is very good because of course they are so uncivilized and now the Americans are here to show them how to respect women(even tho at this equivalent time period on earth Islam gave women more rights and respect than pretty much any European country) and be good and not do war, so yay!
This book makes me want to smash things.
Next we have Briar. To start with Briar is a possible orphan. He’s mixed race, his mom was a sex worker, his dad is absent, and he grew up on the mean streets of poor town, where he became an exploited street thief, but don’t worry! Soon he will be rescued from a lifetime of slavery for juvenile offences because he’s useful to rich academics! Isn’t that freaking awesome?!
Of course his peers are nowhere near so useful, so they will be sent to labour in mines and so forth until they die at a horribly young age for the crime of not being useful to rich academics.
(This is the same book where a Black girl is exiled from her ENTIRE culture because Pierce is actually pretty weirdly racist and literally cannot seem to imagine a culture of people of colour that she doesn’t want to either fetishize or take a giant shit on and no, that the banishment was later lifted for contrived reasons does not make it better. Like, the two white girls in this book consist of grouchy Cinderella(who later White Saviours her way through Greco-India) and pretty, pretty princess craft girl. I mean, not fun, but not bizzare and unpleasant stereotype of a background, either.)
Don’t worry, though, there are sequels.
The Bazhir next show up in Protector Of The Small where Keladry “Fantasy land Japanese people like me and taught me their mysterious ways” Has No Last Name because it’s England before last names because it’s always England is going to be the SECOND LADY KNIGHT!!!!!! A big deal!
(I have nothing against Keladry, except her whole thing where she’s totally okay with punishing a girl who happened to be there while two men were fighting over her while making up a contrived reason for it and also how she’s sort of what weeaboos want to be. I also didn’t like the books because Pierce’s weeb shines through, really obnoxiously.)
A Bazhir character shows up in some of these books. Did you think he was here to dispel some myths about the Bazhir and show them in a new and interesting light?
Hah! You dumbass, this is White Feminist fantasy, specifically the series that previously brought you mysterious empire located in the tropics with ambiguously brown empire with lots of slavery!
This Bazhir guy is here to team up with the misogynistic murdery white guy, and also to say and do sexist things, because Pierce apparently can’t imagine him being an actual person. It’s a problem she has.
Briar, however, IS an actual person, but HE’S an actual person who is useful to rich academics, so he’s on vacation in Disney Middle East, AKA Orientalist Fantasy Setting, AKA Chammur in Sotat.
I’m going to pause my rant here.
I LIKE Briar. He’s one of the best characters that Pierce has ever written, he’s funny, caring, interesting, he has history and dimension. I also like the new character they introduce in this book, Evvy, who has a similar back story to Briar in having been homeless, but with a different perspective. She’s cute and sweet and frankly a darling. They’re both human and not stereotypes at all, despite their back stories.
And neither of them can elevate the scenery, imo.
Chammur is basically an American tract on why Agrabah(Disney version) is bad. It’s pretty much a flat backdrop that occasionally tries to enter the real world, but relies too much on stereotypes to be believable.
Of course the villainess is basically a grotesque, racist charicature of a monster woman who likes to hurt people, of course the corrupt city guard isn’t going to do anything, and because it wouldn’t be a Pierce story without a character of colour having a horrifying, traumatic backstory where people who were supposed to care for her are monsters, of course Evvy’s parents sold her into slavery because they liked boys better! Why not!
Pierce loves to use the trauma of people of colour to propel her stories forward. The pages sometimes feel wet with the way she salivates over torturing her characters of colour.
This includes the last book of hers I read, The Will Of The Empress, where she appropriates the bride kidnappings that Uzbekistan briefly became famous for, transplanting it to, I believe pretend Russia? Before using it to show how good one of her main characters was compared to the villainess. I actually don’t remember the ending to this book, I may not have finished it. That was it for me with Pierce. I was done at that point.
Pierce and all the works above tend to show up on recommendation lists for young readers. This isn’t really a bad thing. Despite the racist tropes at play in the above series, they’re... decent? I mean, middle school literary gems, at least. And all her characters are charming and neat, learning without becoming annoying, with personality and fun. Even Alanna eventually learns to begrudgingly accept that brown women should get to choose their own clothing. I would honestly recommend many of her books to kids, if with a strong warning.
But, having said that, it would be nice if more book recommendation lists included some discussion of these issues.

Okay, Evelyne is pretty and all, but why did you have to be so... Racist about it all? Like, i get it you wanted to be diverse and have a brazilian apprentice, but that's not okay??? Like, she's so full of stereotypes? Oh wow, a black woman who's strong, physically masculine and is feisty and hot headed! THAT'S NOT FUCKING ORIGINAL! And you're even appropriating brazilian culture! Thats culture appropriation, and its very wrong. God fucking dammit, why can't white people get smth right for once?
Tumblr media
Holy. F*cking. Shit.
That's a lot to unpack so prepare yourselves children. I'm going to debunk this ... "Thing" apart by points.
1. Thank you for letting me know i'm racist for something i didn't freaking do. If you actually stopped being lazy and looked around my blog, you'd see that i'm brazilian you damn fool. Call me anything you want, I am NOT letting you call me such names without a reaction.
2. Evelyne isn't necessarily black, she just has a tan from spending so much time outside, in forests, streets, everywhere. If you compare her skin tone with Lucas', her brother who spends a lot more time indoors, you'd see that, although he is slightly darker, he's still white. Evelyne's original skin tone is similar to Lucas', just more saturated.
2.2. If you ACTUALLY DID YOUE RESEARCH YOU'D KNOW THERE'S ALSO A REASON AS TO WHY EVELYNE HAS A MASCULINE PHYSIQUE. She's used to fighting, she worked in child labor to help her mother financially, she'd fight kids twice her age as a child to protect her brother, YOU EXPECT HER TO NOT HAVE MUSCLES? EVEN THOUGH SHE CONSTANTLY WORKS OUT IN PRESENT TIME? GOOD GOD.
2.3. This one i can't blame you. Most of the personality development happens on a discord server. Evelyne has some anger issues due to overworking herself, and giving more than she has to people ( she used to starve herself when she moved to Vesuvia just so her mother could eat more ). Although, a lot of Evelyne's personality traits came from her mother.
3. How. The hell. Am i. Appropriating my own damn culture? As i said, i'm brazilian myself. Although i'm pretty white, i don't consider myself privileged in anyway, if that's what your intentions are by putting "white ppl" on your "OpinION", most of my family is black, and i live on a small city where our main source of water is at it's lowest, and most of the people here don't even own computers. Thank you for letting me know that life is all about who's at their lowest in life. You twat.

I actually wouldn't mind hearing what you have to say about SU? Like, just because SU makes good strides in some aspects doesn't mean it's flawless? And just because SU is flawed in some aspects doesn't mean that its other good points are somehow invalid, either. It's important to acknowledge things that aren't right so people can learn from it, and also learn to identify it in the future and say something themselves. Discussion? Good. Avoidance? Fuck no.
yeah i don’t even like...necessarily mind people who like SU if they don’t ignore the Hm parts of it. it isn’t on K/S or captive prince tier where there’s not really a way to enjoy it even critically. my only beef is with people who try to say it does no wrong ever and you’re wrong if you point out that that isn’t the case. too bad i haven’t really met any fans like that! =^)
basically steven universe is..............very very racist, especially when it comes to antiblackness. so many times the black coded gems are treated poorly by the narrative:
sugilite who’s literally the fusion of a black woman and a black and/or latina woman made into a massive hulking violent ape. if fusions are supposed to be metaphors for relationships, garnet & amethyst get along fine while pearl and amethyst used to fight so much, so why is opal so dainty and delicate while sugilite is the brute? (it’s because the crewniverse can’t stand to make pearl not dainty and delicate)
bismuth was hyped up as a new member of the crystal gems for a bit and then in her episode she was fucking bubbled for thinking shattering the diamonds is a good idea. bubbled for TWO YEARS!! and this is not a scheduling problem - bismuth is ep 98-99 and made of honor is ep 150. that’s OVER 50 EPISODES OF WAIT!!! was rocknaldo REALLY that important rebecca??? and she isn’t even acknowledged in that time outside of mindful education
garnet’s basically nothing but fusion at this point in the series which is so sad bc she;s so good.................but at this point she’s basically only in the role of mentor to steven which like, sure steven needs a mentor figure, but when has garnet really had an arc of her own? even the sardonyx arc was more about poor poor pearl
that’s just what i can remember off the top of my head.
then there’s the human zoo, which was....god what were they fucking thinking. human zoos were REAL THINGS and sugar put one in her show as, in her words, an excuse to draw as many hot hippie people as possible. steven literally DECIDES TO LEAVE THEM THERE BECAUSE THEY’D NEVER SURVIVE LIVING LIFE ON THEIR OWN...BRO THESE WERE REAL AND INCREDIBLY HORRIFIC. it’s also really fuckin interesting how “as many hot people as possible” of course meant making most of the zoo dwellers people of color
this is not quite on the level of the other stuff but it also annoys me how connie’s mom is literally a tiger mother stereotype, not only that, her name is priyanka when her husband who is a more fun dad is named doug and her daughter who has more of a presence in the show is named connie. the ethnic(tm) name is REALLY reserved for the tiger mom huh? (i don’t even mind connie’s name, it’s pretty common for south asians in the diaspora to give their kid an english name, but why can’t fun loving dad have a tamil name??
and then there’s the recent stuff with trying to redeem the diamonds which just, aaaaaaaaaaagh “They’re not our enemies, they’re family” YES THEY ARE YOUR ENEMIES...THEY ARE DICTATORS...THEY TRIED TO KILL BIG CHUNKS OF YOUR ACTUAL FAMILY...
(this is all an incomplete list bc i dont have time to sit down and make a more comprehensive one rn)
so like the fact that these criticisms are consistently dismissed is super frustrating to me. the idea that you can’t allow people to discuss racism because they’ll “ruin your enjoyment of something” disgusts me. the show having lesbians is nice and all but the way it consistently alienates its viewers of color and especially its black viewers makes it so that rep is really only good for white lgbt+ ppl.

ww84 confused the fuck out of me. i genuinely enjoyed watching it and I think most of the criticism is pretty valid, but like it wasn't,,, that bad. A lot of the stuff I have a problem with is things that I was able to put in the back of my head and still enjoy the movie so I don't like the vehement hate and shit people are saying (unless it's about the racist shit, i’m am not uncomfortable with vehemently hating on the racist ass shit in this movie) but other than that like,,,, idk it was pretty good.
Spoilers for ww84 below
the plot wasn't amazing but compared to Infinity War? Endgame? Jesus christ is call ww84 a masterpiece compared to anything marvels put out in the past five years. I didn't enjoy the entire oil barron middle eastern/egyptian plot point. That was completely unnecessary and racist. Pretty much the entirety of what happened in egypt was,,,, not,,,, okay,,,, i’m not going to go into it but like that's a completely genuine criticism because what the fuck were they aiming for there??? The non-white and clearly middle eastern dude wishing for nukes while holding a gun??? What???
Next one isn't "racism" but like who decided to write, cast, produce, and film the scene where the woman wishes to deport all irish ppl and the irish dude wishes to kill her??? What the fuck was that??? It needed more context and if ur criticizing a movie and you say "needed more context" it means it probably didn't need or shouldn't have been there in the first place.
Uhhh what else,,,, loved kristen wiig. omg. But,,,, why was the entire plot line between her and diana just pitting them against each other?? The entire subplot didn't even result in any character developed that it showed Barbara doesnt "learn to love herself" or anything she's just like "wow having superpowers is stressful, nvm" and she barely even does that??? Also the part where it's showing her losing her "humanity" and she beats the shit out of her attempted rapist. Loved that part EXCEPT. Why is that how she loses her kindness? Like i've seen people say the part where she actually loses it is when she tells her friend to mind his own business, but anyone (esp straight dudes) watching that and even a lot of women could take it as framing her beating up the asshole as bad?? Like my dream would be to beat up ppl who've assaulted me or made me uncomfortable so the fact that they even left room for the audience to question which part was her losing her humanity made me iffy about it. Overall it's one of the things I think they could cut from the movie and it wouldn't make any difference.
something I liked about it was the cgi. It's been getting a lot of shit because it's cringey at points but like,,, I loved it. The parts where she's flying just felt like a comic book and yeah maybe it's not realistic, world changing cgi quality but it made me happy and I think trying to go for the ultra realistic shit would've taken away from the whole theme they were pushing with Diana's character which was truth and love. I've never read the comics or seen any other DC movies (other than the first gal gadot wonder woman) but she just felt like a cool character and watching her I really understood her falling in love with humanity. Her whole character might not had grown much in the movie in terms of a formal arc, but watching her grieve and mourn the loss of Steve and then go through the cycle of falling in love with humans again was genuine and just fun to watch for me personally. Was it a little repetitive to being steve back? I mean yeah, but like,, they played up the fact that she was still mourning him and hadn't let go yet so I didn't mind it at all.
I didn't understand the whole him possessing another person thing tho. Like them fucking in that random dudes apartment and taking his stuff just felt wrong??? And it's not even addressed?? They could've just brought Steve back in his own body like they made the porsches and nukes appear out of nowhere and completely avoided the rapey, gross, tones it gave off. Add this to the list of things this movie did that made me uncomfortable and were there for seemingly no plot reason I can think of. They made such a big deal out of Barbara getting cat called and sexually harassed/assaulted just to completely violate a male character? Male sexual assault already doesn't get enough attention and you can't tell me that it's weird and unnecessary that the writers have steve possessing this guy while also stressing female sexual assault and going as far as beating up an abuser. And then not even MENTION the guy steve is possessing other than saying he's hot?? Seriously just take out that entire section of the movie and you've got a plot that's starting to make sense, but instead they just don't.
I had to filter the tag for the guy who played max lord because jfc,,,, first of all not looking for madalorian spoilers and I just don't understand this obsession with his character. The acting was good but the writing was eh. It feels like the Max Lord in this movie was really complicated and had the potential to be a cool character with looking into the abuse, his child, being a single dad, the want to make his son proud and that relationship, like he just seemed like he could be a cool "villian" who's misunderstood and needs to calm down, but it was too much. I didn't even realize he was the kid being abused until I read a review after the movie and there was so much going on with the plots of developing Steve and Dianasa relationship, showing Barbara's character arc, and the entire world falling apart, that it really took away from Lord. Instead of cutting any of it to make Lord a well rounded and explained character or make him more stereotypical villian and expand on the Cheetahs character, they crammed everything into one and failed at both. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed watching the movie, but it just feels like they just bit off more than they could chew but didn't realize it. I would much rather see a Max Lord villian centric movie that goes into Wonder Woman vs Lord and his character and then a separate Cheetah movie that went more into Diana and Barbara's friendship and saving her from losing her humanity, even if it writing that movie means completely taking her out of the Max Lord plot line. Over all id really like to see a good movie about two women struggling with power, loss, and existing in society where the writers don't pin them against each other with little to no plot explanation and a confusing fight scene that brought in a whole new subplot (asteria or whatever) out of NOWHERE.
In conclusion just do better next time. I enjoyed watching the movie. I enjoyed criticizing the movie. I would watch it again. I feel like the writers really got stuck between the desire to make the worlds greatest superhero movie that blows all of the others out of the water with a complicated plot and tons of characters and just the desire to make a good, entertaining movie. Not every piece of media has to be the new best thing since sliced bread and the cheesy cgi, flying, and "love and trust" references really got back to the roots of a good superhero movie, but then they went so far with the subplots it's like they couldn't decide what they were going for and turned what could've been that genuinely good superhero movie into a fucking mess with racist undertones, a convoluted plot, and a whole bunch of shit that genuinely made no sense.

(Part:1) Me and my 9 years old baby brother share a Youtube account (It was mom idea cuz she wanted me to keep an eye on what he's watching) And a few days ago I saw him commenting on a video called "What If the Australia Was A Pokemon Region?" And in the comments section everyone was suggesting their own countries/regions for the uploader to make videos on and naturally my brother commented something like "Plz make a video of the Middle-East as a Pokemon region!"
(Part: 2) and when I scrolled down to see the replies he got I found out he had many racist/Islamophobics replies under his comments like "I guess all the female characters would be wearing burkas then?" and "in the game you fight terrorists that make Voltorb and Electrode use Exploasion, and yell Allah Abra when they explode."
(Part: 3) And today I found out that my little brother actually deleted his comment, and honestly that just broke my heart. He's just a little Arab kid that likes Pokemon and he happened to see people mentioning their own regions as potential Pokemon regions so he innocently mentioned his just like them, yet this is what he gets? Like you don't understand, literally ALL the replies he got were something like that.
(Part: 4) Also on a side note, I might be almost 20 but I'm as much of a Pokemon fan as my lil bro, and just couldn't facepalm enough when I saw those ignorant replies, the Middle-East has such an extremely rich culture and ancient history that would give so much material to work with, yet all the racists and Islamophobics could only mention 20th century stereotypes like Burkas and terrorism? Their bigotry is as boring and predictable as it's false.
I am so sorry to hear that - that’s horrible :( . He’s 9, he has just as much of a right to see his culture being represented as anyone else.
And yeah, I am incredibly tired of this. The stereotypes have been barely updated since the 50s (minus “the Arabs are buying up America w Evil OPEC money” - that one seems to be exclusive to the 70s and 80s) and ppl wanna constantly use our culture for their stories but then turn around and not include us as part of it. I’ve seen that mostly in fantasy and video games.
People are so lazy about anything related to the Middle East as is that even almost all the positive examples basically consist of “Deserts, Ancient Pyramids, Camels” like we don’t have skyscrapers and cars and regions with lots of vegetation (like Lebanon)

i saw this post on insta that was like you can be “black” without be “african american” and there was a lot going on in the comments mostly about how ppl of african decent are all black and african (i.e., black british ppl, african ppl can be black, black mexicans or w/e) and this is a very curious concept to me bc
1) it’s all very complex.
2) we’re all african like it doesn’t matter if you’re the whitest person out there we’re all out of africa you can fight me on this but you can’t fight science so let’s just get that out of the way.
SO now it’s about a) how you present b) your culture c) your experience (not in that order but w/e) (and this 100% comes in to play with american identity)
3) i always thought of black as an american thing in the sense that like....there are afro-british ppl who are the same as black americans but its different like if you tell me someone is black i know they’re an american and i know they’re history and as a person living in america with a connection to this history i understand the experience (like.....i couldn’t tell the first thing about being afro-british like idk at all and i don’t believe they know whats it’s like to be a black or african person in america)
3A) IMO black american and african american are very different. black americans have been here since slavery, they have the potential to be and/or present mixed, and they have a Shared Experience. african americans are like first generation or people who have come to america from africa in their lifetime and while they can be impacted by the same things that experience is very different (more on this later)
3Aa) there is a lot going on here too tho bc there are black americans who identify with their african roots and comfortably say they’re african american but i honest to god can not relate to that therefore i can’t talk about it
3B) also black americans have a very specific look imo and thats the shared history coming in to play like if you show me someone who has been here and someone who is first generation you can tell the difference and you’re lying if you say otherwise (you can see this all over, too. ppl of afro decent in the carib look different from americans and africans. indo ppl in the carib/south africa/etc look different from each other and from desi ppl. you can still see they’re related but they’re different).
and anyway there were also pretty respectful white ppl who were genuinely curious but there were also arguments about how ppl self identify what were hella condescending and flat out rude which were Wild to me like you don’t have a say in how a mixed person identifies or how dominicans or w/e identify if you are 1 race or not dominican or w/e
4) i agree that (in america) black =/= african (but it does mean that you have some distant history in africa) i consider myself black but not african american. i know that my experience isn’t that of an african american bc i am mixed and i present as such (i mean...in some cases [black] ppl refuse to acknowledge that i’m also indo Until which is so annoying and disrespectful bc i’m pretty obviously Other but also like you can’t pick and choose when it’s convenient but thats a different post) also bc growing up it was basically ‘if you aren’t white, you’re black’ which is changed a Whole Lot as we become a more global society but yeah i mean i’m black and i’m indo-trini they’re both very important to me. i grew up with my black family but as a girl who looked exactly like her non-black mother (i mean...my mother identifies as black and it’s as complex as it is problematic bc she very obviously is not of african decent and she isn’t brown skinned and it’s just truly not her Experience but again thats Another Story) so i really identify as a hybrid of the two (this also gets tricky bc there are ppl i know who are from the caribbean who i know are of indian decent but get classified as black/african american here bc they dont look like the stereotypical indian and somewhere a long the lines got a western surname. it also gets tricky bc most people in the caribbean connect with their island first and their race second and again this comes in to play as we become more global and cosmopolitan and its a Different Post)
4A) both black americans who have been here since slavery and newly arrived africans are identified as african americans and i have even less in common with the newly arrived african experience than i do with the been here experience and i don’t believe that i have a right to intrude on their feelings and safe spaces bc i experiences privileges they don’t (i mean in south carolina i’m still followed around the store by racist white ladies and and in massachusetts there are white ppl who won’t acknowledge my presence by pointedly doing something else and i’m a brown skinned girl w an american surname like come on but in the bigger picture these are isolated incidents [and actually if im being honest there have been more times that black ppl have accused me of being racist like these are not isolated it happens more often than you’d think; and the only truly verbally racist thing that’s happened to me happened bc they saw that i was indian and it was the Wildest thing to me but my point is there are LAYERS ppl, LAYERS and experience is such a huge player in this] and i’m very aware that my cousins who are 100% american have a completely different view and understanding of the world that i cannot relate to empathetically) (actually even newly arrived africans who did not grow up in america experience a very different america those who have been here or those who have grown up with those who have been here) (and actually i know african ppl who refuse to let their children befriend black american kids and look down on them which is DISGUSTING but this is Not the Post for That)
and like honestly its all a social construct like both of my grandfathers (biological [who was for all intents and purposes a white guy but had a native and black grandparent so] and step [black]), my dad (who is black), my cousin (who is indo trini and nigerian), and i all have different names for black on our birth certificates basically what ever white people thought was politically correct at the time so like it Doesn’t Matter but it does because how you present and identify impacts your entire life (and actually i do wish my birth certificate said mixed and i’m very curious to know what ppl born post 2000 are called when their parents are two different races)
but anyway i was just in awe by the amount of Bull Shit that was in the comment section like if you don’t know and you haven’t had that experience just shut up please thank you and goodnight like if you have something constructive to say than OK lets discuss it but like....how can you just say “listen you’re black, you’re black, and you’re black too stop hating black people” but in the same vein i PROMISE YOU THIS HAPPENS BC IT’S HAPPENED TO ME treat them like a 2nd class black citizen and police them and even call them racist when their experience doesn’t line up w/ yours like come on
it’s hard i get it but come on
