i know mentioming kiko triggers most of the readers but i think yall should grow tf up like shes my roman empire and i think about her a lot u know 😔😔 when this chapter, where she told jungkook the truth, came out i hated her just like others and i was like "shes so evil like how can she do this to jungkook". but as time passed i just realized that shes the realest character because if i were in the same situation i might have done the same thing(?) Like i dont know exactly what id do but because of fear i couldve done the same so i cant really judge her. like we all know having a child is a big responsibility and she was scared and of course she wasnt ready for this and obviously its her body and her choice and she did whatever she thought was good for her. I think throwing a mud at her and criticising her is too much because she suffered enough already and i truly dont understand why do yall hate this woman so much?? thank you for sharing your thoughts on this! we've had quite a lot conversations about her character and to be honest, she might be one of my favorite characters i've ever written. not because I love her or anything, but because she's so interesting to me. and i've said this before many times, but i guess people perceive things differently based on the point of view which is completely understandable – if the story was about them, kiko being y/n – some opinions and reactions might've been different. i do believe there would be many opinions of what she did and it being not right, but i guess readers would show more mercy with the way of how they talk about her character or they would definitely not use so many curse words ahaaha

i'm gonna rant, and yes this is about certain screener spoilers from s3 that i've seen circling around the fandom. i've already had to unfollow someone because they were being so rude about this. im defending colin bc no one will.

some polin stans don't treat colin as his own character, they just simply see him as a means to pen's happiness or they treat him like an object. may i remind you the reason why the romance genre is a thing is BECAUSE men did that to women??

so even if these rumors are true, that doesn't mean colin HAS to be perfect in order to deserve penelope, because that is not what bridgerton is about. also, in this time period, sex worked differently! believe it or not! so if colin has a few scenes with sex workers to show how he bends to society's expectation for him or for character development or whatever, then so be it. polin will end up together either way.

to say that colin has "red flags" because he has sex with sex workers and has done drugs is so fucking dumb. do you actually hear yourself? WHAT person on earth do you know that hasn't had sex with someone they don't know or done drugs or both. be realistic. multiple times luke has stated that this season deals with how young colin and penelope are and how they are still finding themselves and navigating how to love under that burden of youth and immaturity. to say colin has red flags and PENELOPE DOESNT? bruh. I am a penelope defender to the death but she has made many questionable choices. These "red flags" are simple human actions, largely made off of good intention, and it doesn't make them evil or mean that they're gonna cheat on each other or anything. it just means that they're multi dimensional, and that they're like us in that way. because literally no one would relate to a character that never makes mistakes.

stop treating colin like he's just a way for penelope to get laid. he is a multi dimensional character like penelope is, which is why they work so well together. to say that these fictional characters can't make mistakes is unrealistic and stupid. the fact that i have to state that colin is not an object is not something new in this fandom. please be better.

It all started when Lizzie Crawford entered the bathroom.

“God, Liz, do you ever knock?” You asked, mostly unfazed. You were used to her friend bursting in unannounced almost every time you were showering.

“No,” Lizzie said, perching on the edge of the closed toilet and picking at her chipped nail polish. “Now, I have a proposition for you.”

You poked your head around the opaque shower curtain. “Oh?”

She hummed absently, running her hand through her hair. “So you know how Diggory’s spending some of the summer with you, and then you don’t live that far away so you’ll probably be in each other’s pockets all break?”

“Uh… yes? Obviously, I know that? Why does that matter?”

“Well, I’ll bet you twenty galleons that you’ll get some action with him over the holidays.”

You turned the shower off and peeked around the shower curtain at your friend. “Come again?”

“I bet you twenty galleons that you’ll get some with Diggory over the holidays.”

“He’s my friend.”

“And? Do we have a deal?”

You paused, considering your options. On one hand, you knew you didn’t have feelings for Cedric. On the other, it felt wrong to take a bet like that. Finally, your lack of moral compass won. “Fine. We have a deal.”

“Great! I can’t wait to be twenty galleons richer.”

“Yeah,” you laughed, turning the shower on again and letting the water run through your hair. “Keep dreaming, Liz.”

“What are the conditions?” Camilla Maquez asked, leaning across the table at dinner.

The Cow Situation

Before you knew it, the school year was over.

You woke up around midday, that first day back, and stared at the ceiling, relishing in the silence that surrounded you. The birds chirped outside you window and a thin ray of sunlight peeked through the tan curtains, leaving a golden line across your body and room.

You leaned against the counter and stared out into the yard. A few chickens pecked and scratched the dusty ground and a pair of cows grazed in the field behind them. A small girl sat on the trampoline, not bouncing.

You frowned as you opened the door and walked over, scaring a chicken out of her way.

“Hey, Little C,” you called. “What’s up?”

Cordelia Ridge, your nine year old sister looked over her shoulder and looked back. “Hi.”

Your smile fell from your face and you climbed up onto the trampoline beside her. “Uh oh. What’s going on, Cords?”

“Mummy says Diedre is sick,” she pointed at the black and white cow.

“Sweetie, Diedre’s always getting sick.” you sighed. “Shoddiest immune system I’ve ever seen. And I’ve seen you.” you poked her side, enticing a giggle out of the girl.

They were holding a funeral for Diedre the cow.

Cordelia was absolutely beside herself. You stood behind her, a hand on her shoulder, the other hand holding a bouquet of long grasses, hand picked and arranged by Cordelia that morning.

It was a dry day, and the sun was shining, and Cordelia was glaring up at it like it was personally offending her.

“Don’t look at the sun, Little C. You’ll go blind,” you chided, pulling your sunglasses off and slipping them on your sister’s face.

“Maybe I want to,” she sniffed. “Maybe I deserve it.”

Your face contorted in confusion. “What?”

“I should have realised sooner,” she wept. “I should have given her the love she deserved.”

You stared down at your younger sister, whose bottom lip was wobbling precariously. You crouched down and tucked her wispy hair behind her ear. “Listen to me, Cordelia. There was nothing you could’ve done. The animal doctor said that it was just time for her to go. Like Grandma.”

That apparently did not help.

The floodgates opened and the sunglasses fell off. Cordelia planted her face in your shoulder and wailed.

As the young girl cried, your eyes caught onto two tall figures walking towards the family.

Your mum smiled softly at you before walking over to the people.

The larger of the two hugged her and she led them over to you and Cordelia.

You saw it was Cedric and waved slightly.

He raised his brows at the crying girl you held before crouching down beside her and tapping Cordelia’s shoulder.

“Hey, Dells.” he said quietly, making her sobs quieten and her head turn towards him. “I’m sorry for your loss.”

She sniffled once, then twice, and detached herself from you. You breathed a sigh of relief, believing the worst to be over, when the nine-year-old launched herself onto Cedric, crying into his black shirt.

He shot you a small smile, reaching out and patting your knee gently as he comforted her sobbing sister.

Your stomach lurched.

That should have been your first sign.

The whole arya vs sansa vs dany fandom fight frustrates me to no end, mainly because all parties involved seem to have little to no empathy to the characters whose stans they oppose. It's all maliciously extrapolating some parts of the text to make them see worse than what they are (ex: daenerys' "if i look back i am lost" getting twisted from "dany knows that dwelling on what ifs and turning your back after you have taken a commitment will only damage you in the long term" in "dany doesn't want to reflect on her past mistakes and will go mad and get stabbed to death" or sansa getting frustrated at sweetrobin being a sign of her being ableist and classist while it's. But seriously this is by far my favorite take on them. Like I could write essays about how much I love supergiant’s take on Aphrodite but it really just boils down to the fact that the goddess of love IS sexy but she’s most importantly open and vulnerable and free and will not fucking apologize for it.

And I love that he is completely supportive of that. Their relationship can get so… weird in older versions and supergiant has always been good about both being blunt about the odd nature of the original texts they reference and also modernizing the tales to both tell a more enjoyable story AND give the characters a respectful, dignified interpretation

Cause it DOES feel weird to reduce the story of the goddess of love and the god of the forge to a an unwanted “ugly” son and a cheating scandal. So many adaptations take the gritty, realistic side of these myths and turn it into to some kind of bullying comedy which just doesn’t feel good.

But what draws so many people to Greek myths is that the gods are people. They’re able to make mistakes and act stupid sometimes yes, but they’re also capable of falling in love, learning from their mistakes, and growing over time.

And I love that the Hades titles really lean into that last bit. The change over time. We’re not in the dead center of these problems, we’re removed from them. They’ve all grown up since the stories we’ve heard, and we’re now hearing a new story. A story where everybody has to come together and work together, put aside old grievances, for the good of everyone.

Some of them have apologized, have worked to mend broken relations ships. Some have gotten worse, some better. But what matters now is their home and family is in danger.

And we get to see an Aphrodite who is vulnerable both emotionally and physically, loves herself and is unapologetic about it, smiling down upon her little cousins and encouraging them even if she can’t be there to help in person, wearing Ares’ war paint into battle, and likely carrying a weapon made by her husband (tbh it would be weird if her staff was made by someone else)

And we get a Hephaestus who yes, struggles with his disability, but is the best at his craft, completely at ease and self assured, all insecurities put to rest, and hot as hell on confidence alone let alone his muscles! He meets a stranger and immediately talks shit about the quality of her weapon I mean the man has an EGO! He’s the best there ever was and he knows it!

okay, so I dont hate lip, I find it hard to HATE people when they aren't inherently evil (Terry) or have done some awful things (Frank, Monica, Sammy) but I definitely dont like the guy.

I understand where a lot of his behaviours come from, like the yelling and anger issues, but I find it so hard to watch. He constantly takes his issues out on Fiona by yelling, not allowing her any of the 'benefit of the doubt' that she gave him. She pushed him to go to school, helped him get help for his alcoholism and when she struggled, he screamed at her. When she made mistakes, like letting Monica back into their lives, causing her to take their money, Lip completely blamed her.

Again, I understand it's a deflection. He's mad at Monica or Frank or himself half the time (although yes he also gets mad at Fiona directly) and takes it out on her. It's also a learnt behaviour, copying Frank's anger and shouting.

Even so, it pisses me off.

Also, the arrogance?? Now, I'm self aware, I know my faults and personally I know that I'm an arrogant shit. I try not to be, but it mainly stems from insecurity. I get that, but still. It makes me mad that he thinks he's better than everyone, when in reality he makes just as many stupid mistakes.

I don't understand how anyone can like the Greens in the series. I like them in the books because they are good villains, specifically Alicent. I would have given anything to see her come to life on screen rather than the pathetic thing we were treated to. I personally never liked the greens in the book. To me, they were always the villains. Always. I never viewed Daemon and Rhaenyra as pure innocent angels, don’t get me wrong. I recognize the few mistakes Rhaenyra makes in the book, as well as Daemon’s many, many faults.

For instance, yes, Rhaenyra should not have had Vaemond murdered (even though what he spoke was treasonous and threatened her position as well as the lives of her children). She should not have gone so far with the taxes during her reign (even though she was left with no choice).

However, in this story, despite all their faults, I always felt Rhaenyra and Daemon were perfectly justified. Because their good qualities kind of eclipse the bad stuff. The Blacks are the anti-heroes of the story. They have done some questionable things, but all of them have been justified/done with good reason and good purpose.

The Greens are a whole different story. Everything they have done (mainly Alicent and Otto), they have done out of jealousy and pure greed (hence why they were given the color “green” - the color of greed and envy). 95 % of the war crimes are done by the Greens. Literally the only thing the Blacks are to be held accountable for is B&C. Other than that, every crime was courtesy of the Greens.

To me, the Greens have always been split between those who are anti-villains (Aegon, Helaena, Daeron), and those who are pure villains (Alicent, Otto, Aemond).

For the anti-villains: The one time Aegon presents some goodness is when he has reservations about usurping his half-sister. Other than that, he is pure evil; Helaena can’t be considered a pure innocent soul either. She has good qualities, but she is extremely underdeveloped as a character in the book and we don’t know her thoughts, her motives. She didn’t protest the usurpation and accepted the position of queen consort easily; Daeron is somehow given a free pass by certain people because he is “the daring”, and while that’s true, these people forget how he burned a whole village of innocent people alive.

For the pure villains, not much need be said. Alicent and Otto are a bunch of opportunistic hypocrites and vicious upstarts. I haven’t sensed any bit of goodness in them. Aemond is a psycho with zero redeeming qualities.

Now, in the show, I don’t feel as if the Greens are portrayed better than they have been in the book. I feel like the show writers (mainly Ryan Condal) are trying to come up with lame excuses for them, and it’s just not working. The great majority of the viewers still hate Alicent as much as they did in the book, regardless how many times she presents those “doe eyes”, and the great majority still believe the Greens are in the wrong.

In the show, when it comes to the Greens, there’s always some sort of “reason”, some sort of “accident”. Alicent didn’t mean to shoot her mouth off and convince Larys to murder the current hand, Lyonel Strong, so that her father could return as Hand (even though that is exactly what she wanted). Aemond didn’t mean to let Vhagar know that he wants Lucerys dead (even though his pursuing and direct attack showed his intentions to murder the boy). Crispin somehow didn’t mean to crush Beesbury’s skull in that ball, even though he acted aggressively towards the man for simply speaking the truth and nothing but the truth at that treasonous Council meeting.

These excuses the show writers make for the greens make no sense whatsoever. They should have stuck with the actual canon portrayal, because it’s just ridiculous at this point.

So what if the two sides are not evenly matched?

They’re not supposed to!

GRRM doesn’t write purely good vs bad in his universe, that is true. He loves the complexity of the characters and the stories. However, that does not mean that he intended for the Blacks and the Greens to be evenly matched in this story.

He himself admitted that he wrote the book more in the Blacks’ favor because that’s how he felt (ironic, considering that Fire and Blood is told from the point of view of green supporters). It’s his story. I have seen people accuse him of being biased, always in favor of the Blacks.

Yes, he clearly wrote the Blacks as the protagonists, with better developed characters, with the best allies, the most heroic/epic deaths, most dragons, most Houses supporting them.

I mean, the Starks are TB, while the Lannisters are TG. That alone should give you a clue as to which side you’re supposed to be rooting for.

Clearly GRRM is Team Black, but who says he can’t be? Who says that the sides have to be evenly matched? It’s his story! If he says the Blacks are right, the Blacks are right.

If you wake me up in a 100 years and ask me what DGS fans are up to I'll answer: "arguing who's mischaracterizing Kazuma Asogi"

Honestly? I feel like it's simply people focusing on different aspects of his character and ognoring the others. Some will insist that Kazuma is an UwU sob wet cat who never done anything wrong and never deceived his friends, probably because they want to fulfill the happy wholesome asoryu endgame narrative, which is understandable, but it ignores some really important stuff. Yes, Kazuma really values his friendship with Ryunosuke, was willing to go great lenghts for him and never really outright lied to him. Still, it would be pretty stupid to deny that by the time the plot unfolded he still had a twisted sense of justice and what is right. He still was misleading Ryunosuke in his mission.

Also, I feel like people focus too much on the impact Kazuma made on Ryunosuke while ignoring the other, equally important person in his life - Susato! Honeslty, she got it much worse that Ryuno, because even after spending 10 years by his side Kazuma never bothered to give her at least an idea why he's doing all this. Kazuma actually considers telling Ryu his 'real' mission as it was shown early in 1-2, but not to Susato. In many ways feels like an afterthought to Kazuma, which really really isn't fair for her

Sure, many of Kazuma's misfortunes isn't his fault, but the guy still made choices. I believe that none of this would be enough to ruin their friendship or whatever, but they will fucking have to process this together. There's, like, no other option. Kazuma as a person has flaws and made mistakes that go way beyond "tee hee this man's silly"

And then there's the other side of the debate that pictures Kazuma as murder happy rude bastard, and personally to me it's a tad closer because my ass likes angst, but after I thought about it again, it doesn't seem right to me either. Regardless of his violent tendencies, Kazuma is a person who in the end strives to do the right thing. Almost everything he does he does out of love - to his father or to Ryunosuke alike. Kazuma's inherent kindness is what makes him understand van Zieks in the end and accept him as well.

Besides, never once in a trial he was outright rude to Ryunosuke, I think? Even on Barok's trial he still commends and encourages him. Even in 2-5, being all unhinged and borderline hysterical, he still manages to possess some semblance of moral integrity. It could be way worse, really

Kazuma is another good example of how good (!) people can be grossly mislead for other people's goals, and while it doesn't take away the responsibility of said good person or the realization that there's stuff to work on, they are still redeemable and deserve to be forgiven.

Just like that. I don't remember how I got into it back in the 90s, but in 2020, I got into it because I liked some Emralt stories so much, I thought, "Hey, maybe I can do that, too."

Weeeeeell. Might be one of my OCs is a tiny bit like myself. But in general, I don't do reader inserts a lot.

I still think his bachelor party behavior was absolutely out of character for Eddie. I know the fandom theories, but I disagree.

Maybe the kind of injuries you get from either falling of a certain height and from being shot with a .45

I will fail you... still obsessed with the song, so I'd love to see the topic of the seemingly infallible fail to rescue their loved one. Not necessarily resulting in MCD, though. Don't care which pairing, don't care who'd write it. It's juicy.

Listen, I don't hate characters. That's stupid, they're not real. I admire writers of any kind if they make me feel things about a character, even if it's repulsion. But wait, we have Gerrard in the coming season. Nobody likes Gerrard... are there 3 good things about him? Let's see. He's old, so he might just die soon. He screams at Buck, that might get him in trouble. He's jealous, so he might make a mistake. I think those are good things 😂

There are so many, you know I love all the fanart I ever commissioned or got as a present. But today, I'd like to say this piece by @johix (sorry, if you don't want me to put it directly in a post please tell me!) I just love it.

Usually, two breaks after a paragraph throughout the whole fic. Or when the fic turns out differently than expected, because I often don't read tags and I rarely read things like MPREG and stuff.

I've seen a fair few people make videos where they discuss how much the quality of the Archie book jumped up after Flynn took over (which it did, let's not downplay how much better he was than Penders), whether as a focus of the main topic or just as part of a wider statement, and there's something that baffles me about the B-roll that often gets chosen for this sort of statement.

Sonic and Tails' reconciliation from Issue 179 is normally part of the examples of things Flynn fixed, and I fucking hate that scene and think it's one of the lowest points of Sonic's entire character in the book.

And like, on some level, it makes sense why people look at that and go "Yes, this is better", because Penders broke the friendship between Sonic and Tails and Flynn repaired it, that's good. Bit weird that it took him 19 issues to get there but whatever, he's only got so many pages a month.

But it's the way Flynn has it happen that pisses me the hell off, because it ends up repeating one of the major mistakes of Penders' run, and people just kinda ignore that.

Sonic tells Tails that his entire relationship with Fiona was a farce, and he only agreed to be her boyfriend because he thought that doing so would make Tails move on from his unrequited crush.

So first of all this is a really stupid plan. Like, hey, Sonic, you're friends with Amy Rose, why did you ever think "My crush isn't single" would convince anyone to stop crushing? I know this version of Sonic isn't far out from saying that he "takes everything Amy says with a grain of salt" (which feels unbelievably mean to Amy. I've never been an Amy fan but even when my opinion of her was at its lowest, I never thought she deserved that shot across the bow), and I know Tails is generally treated as being somewhat more mature than Amy despite them being the same age in Preboot Archie, but this nonetheless should've been a major sign that this was a stupid plan.

But the thing that pushes it over the edge into "Sonic you unbelievable asshole" is that it's very, very apparent that Fiona didn't know. She probably still doesn't know. He was using her.

And I know some people will argue that Fiona was also using Sonic, but she makes it clear that she was desperately trying to find the thrill she got from being with Scourge with someone who wasn't, y'know, this creep.

In 172, she describes Sonic as 'boring', and no wonder she did, it was fake the entire time and nobody told her.

(This is part of why I dislike the take that Fiona has much more agency as a villain, because she basically never makes an informed decision under Ian's pen. She has no idea that Sonic never loved her-though knowing that would probably only make her angrier- and she has no idea that Scourge is an omnicidal maniac who has already tried to kill her by proxy at least once. She never really knew either of her partners, despite her relationships to them being the driving force of her character)

At the end of the day, this story reduces Fiona to an object to be fought over, without her ever being fully aware of that, and the resolution of it all isn't making things right for her, it's having the two protagonists involved make up, while she gets left stuck with Scourge, who has demonstrated the capacity to kill her if it suits his goal.

I used to like Sovieshus character.

When I say this I do not mean I liked Sovieshu as a person for very obvious reasons, like many others who read remarried empress he enraged me all the time with the gaslighting and the verbal abuse he dealt to Navier not to mention the very imbalance of power that came with his "relationship" with Rashta

However, that is why I liked him as a character. He was an accurate depiction of a toxic partner that wasn't so comical. The commenter's often thought he was just stupid when he was taking Rashtas side but that's the thing, he simply didn't care about what Rashta was doing because he found it nice that she was keeping her oblivious attitude that would never object him, which was why he didn't like Navier opposing Rashta, it's because she's directly opposing what he wants her to be: devoted at all times to him. (At least that's how I interpret it)

A character that can make you feel things that were intended is one of the best kinds of characters, and Sovieshu did just that because most of us had or even still has that one toxic partner/family member/friend that constantly makes you feel like shit for having normal reactions to being disrespected by them, or the type that betrayed your trust and made it your problem, in some ways Sovieshu becomes eerily convincing if you didn't read 70 chapters beforehand such as blaming Navier for leaving him for another man even though he was the one who divorced her.

Honestly the true reason Sovieshu sucks even more than ever is because the narrative backpeddles on that abuse and tries to make Sovieshu look more sympathetic than characters like Rashta. And yes while a sympathetic abuser isn't a bad thing on its own as it's quite common to sympathize with an abusers hardships, it's the fact that Sovieshu is starting to be portrayed as a man who made horrible mistakes but is trying to make up for it (which in those terms means harming himself over Navier), portraying him like this while he continues to treat Rashta like shit would be a good opportunity to display the dangers of an abuser who still refuses to change but its just more Rashta karma instead making it even worse. His character now is just groveling for Navier to the point where fans started to feel bad for him and in some cases blaming Navier as the problem for never communicating.

Just saying it really says a lot about the story if it's willing to give him a goddamn regression arc where he gets back with Navier AFTER he spent 80 chapters treating her like garbage.
