“So,” Catherine said after the driver had left. She had sat them both down on the sofa, two cups of tea between them. Jason was looking into the mug like it was the most interesting thing in the world. He knew this conversation was going to happen, she could tell. He only avoided looking at her when he didn’t want to make her upset. “While I am very proud of you for helping Tim, I do want to know what you were doing on the street after midnight.”

“I wasn’t planning on staying out past midnight.” He mumbled.

“Okay, but that’s not the point. Why were you out late at all. Tim may not have known how dangerous Gotham is at night, but you should.” She tilted his chin up to look at her. “Why were you out?”

Jason bit the inside of his lip and looked down again. For a moment he looked like he wasn’t going to say anything, until he whispered, “I was boosting cars.”

“What, why?” she asked softly, putting her mug to the side. She had three jobs. She knew they were struggling, and she was sure Jason knew that too, but they were making do. There was no reason for Jason to risk getting hurt or arrested.

Jason didn’t look back at her, his voice, usually so confident, was now stuttering. “In case you relapsed. I wanted us to have food, or some extra money in case you needed to go to the hospital, or-” he stopped, still looking into the mug, and Catherine felt her heart breaking in two. “I know that you’ve been trying after Dad, but I know it hurts, and-”

She lifted his face, thumb swiping under one of his eyes. He hadn’t let out a single tear, and that made Catherine feel so much worse. One hand still holding his face, she put his mug to the side and pulled him into a tight hug. “I’m sorry, baby.” She said, feeling a few tears slide down her face. She ran her fingers through his hair, breathing him in, “I’m so sorry.” They stayed that way until she had to leave for work.

Okay, I just binged the rest of the Hazbin Hotel episodes.

Carmilla and Zestial are hot. And Carmilla is so interesting. I loved her and Vaggie's song. I actually didn't expect them to reveal who killed the angel so quickly. But I love how they're showing that even some of the top overlords in Hell care. The only question now is what Alastor is going to do with this information.

I love Vox. He has a great voice and his rivalry with Alastor is hilarious.

Sir Pentious is such a fucking loser and I adore him.

Nifty almost reminds me of Little My from the Moomins with her little gremlin energy. I don't know if we'll get any serious moments with her like we have with the other characters, but I guess we'll see.

I love how Alastor's room is a literal bayou/swamp. And him eating the whole fucking deer was hilarious.

I didn't expect for some of the others to find out about Angel and Val's toxic relationship so quickly, but I did like how it showed an uncommon angle: how trying to save someone from an abusive relationship can make things worse for the victim. I can't think of any other media off the top of my head that shows that kind of thing. But with Charlie and Husker knowing about this (and Cherri Bomb if we're counting Addict as canon), how long before everyone else finds out? And what are their reactions going to be?

I haven't been the biggest Angel/Husker shipper, but holy hell, am I on board now. Husker once being an overlord and pretty much implying that he sold his soul to Alastor much like how Angel did with Val was a development I didn't expect, as well as drawing parallels between his addiction to gambling and Angel's addiction to drugs. Hell, I really didn't except this angle they took with Husker. We only saw his bitter attitude in the pilot, and we still get plenty of that here, but I didn't expect him to also be a good people reader and being able to see how the other characters really are and what they're hiding. He's almost empathetic in a way.

All of the songs are fucking bangers, Poison especially. I listened to it once before the show and I liked it okay, but seeing it in context, it hits you ten times harder. I almost cried.

The show is so good at making the viewer feel so uncomfortable with how Val treats Angel, it's almost too hard to watch. I've seen shows tackle abuse before and they've done it well, but this was very raw and in your face and it makes your insides twist. And I love it.

Looking at the show's cast, Vivzi got so many people with Broadway experience and I love that. I feel like a lot of popular media nowadays just like to cast popular actors regardless of whether they can actually sing or not (I'm looking at you live action Disney remakes). But every actor who's sung so far is fucking good at it and it shows.

So far, I am in love, love, love with this show. I remember first watching the pilot when it was causing some controversy and I fell in love with it immediately. It almost became a comfort thing for me for a while. I was watching it over and over during 2020 when Covid was running rampant and everything was shit. I'm so proud of Vivzie and everyone else for their hard work and dedication and love. This show is so different from everything else out there. I hope now that it's out, even more people can fall in love with it.

I need many people to realize a strong contribution to the purity discourse in media we see among young people is due to radfems & gender criticals poisoning the water supply on sites like this one (tumblr) or other social media since 2014

Seeing teens and young 20-somethings using "porn addicted", "porn-brained", "degenerate", all unironically, those are words you find in alt-right & anti-LGBTQ+ message boards.

It wasn't JUST GCs alone, but many people have been around to see them influence a generation of kids with arguments you see today like

“X in fiction causes abuse"

“x is fetishization"

"Unless you've personally gone through trauma you shouldn't write about it"

“If you HAVE gone through trauma, you can't sexually explore it"

"If you like abuse in fiction you're an abuser in real life”

Hearing kids call random (usually queer!) shippers in fandom "groomers" and "pedophiles" for ships that have been established in fandom for decades, or because of a "power imbalance" between adult characters isn't a coincidence. Hmm, I wonder what other groups use those words?

It's not solely kids alone, it is a combination of:

Online radicalization and disinformation

No spaces for kids

No internet safety/literacy

Steeping censorship in activist language,

lack of education (If you don't know red flags you can't avoid them)

COVID did NOT help

This is why ignoring it will never help, because while thankfully some people grow out of it, it usually happens to people who had some support system or breakthrough in cognitive dissonance. There are plenty of people who are becoming adults and who keep infantilizing themselves

“My brain isn't done until I'm 25, you're all predators" and they're talking to a 30 y/o

That argument is literally being used by UK government officials to block access to gender-affirming healthcare. Infantilizing adults only serves the purpose of stripping agency and rights

They're not being safe. They're not gaining skills. They're participating in a fear-fueled climate of faulty medical misinformation, keeping themselves in a perpetual childish-victim state no matter how old they get and nothing about this is healthy

How do you think a person goes through this world when they've been wholly convinced that you can tell someone is safe because they like "safe" or “wholesome" things, & people who make them uncomfortable via hobbies or interests (not IRL actions) are probably actual criminals?

CW: Swearing- It's Dabi after all

Summary: Dabi likes to steal Hawk's clothes-even if they feel "weird" with all the feathers stuck within. Hawks decides to explore what that really means.

With Dabi, Hawks could never predict what was coming. And he loved it.

The villain had a way to him that drew at Hawks. It was endearing and baffling and all and all an addiction Hawks didn’t want to kick.

Sometimes the Villain would break into his home while Hawks was on patrol. When the Pro-hero checked his security alert, he would be given the sight of Dabi lounging about in his apartment, drowning in the birdman’s hoodie and eating his hot Cheetos.

Other times Dabi would tell Hawks to meet him in the most obscure locations, ones that required lots of twists and turns and always leaving the Pro hero exhausted by the time he got there. The information he received wasn’t always worth it, but the scarred yet gentle kisses Dabi gave him were.

Today was no different. Dabi had made himself at home in Hawks' apartment when the Prohero got there, once again wearing his hoodie as he stretched out along his couch. No snacks this time. Dabi’s jacket was folded behind his head in a makeshift pillow, and his boots were kicked off, placed neatly by the front door.

Hawks bit down a laugh as he closed the door, taking his time removing his jacket and boots before walking over. A sight like this must be savored. “Seems like you’re quite attached to that hoodie, huh?”

Dabi cracked open an unfairly blue eye, looking up at Hawks through tuffs of black hair. “Hmmm...” He drawled, stretching his arms lazily over his head and leaving them there, hoodie riding up and revealing a line of silver skin. “It’s warm. ‘S not like you wear it, anyway.”

“That’s because you're always stealing it.” Hawks replied with a smirk, making his way over to the cozy villain and climbing on top of him. A few adjustments later he was  bracing his arms on either side of Dabi’s head. “Not that I’m complaining, though. You look good in my clothes.”

Dabi rolled his eyes, but he couldn’t hide the twitch of his lips at Hawks' words. “Whatever. It’s too big, and it's always full of feathers.” Dabi reached a hand out, running his fingers through the soft red wings that encased him. The gesture earned Hawks’ hum of approval. “I have to pluck them off before I can wear it.”

“Do they bother you?” Hawks asked, eyes curious as he reached up, capturing Dabi’s hand, rubbing his thumb along the scarred knuckles. They were old, no longer raw and painful. He wanted to kiss them again and again, even if Dabi couldn’t feel it.

“Not really. They just feel weird.” Dabi mused, smoothing out the miscue feathers with gentle fingers. “Pretty bird...” he murmured, making Hawks blush.

 The Prohero watched him curiously, hung up on Dabi’s earlier comment. “Feels weird, huh?” He let his free hand fall to Dabi’s hip, sneakily pushing the oversized cloth up with his hand.

“Yeah. They’re too- niieh!” Dabi flinched with a yelp when he felt something soft brush his skin. He glared down at the lone wing close to his exposed waist, then at the smirking hero above him. “Just what do you think your do-ah!” He flinched again when the wing brushed his side, aiming for untouched skin. Realization hit him like a ton of bricks, and he glared fiercely, trying to ignore the growing blush filling his face. “Don’t you fucking dare!”

Hawks grinned, eyes alight like a child just discovering Christmas for the first time. “Weird, huh?” He asked again, quickly reaching up and trapping Dabi’s hand within his own.. “You’re ticklish?”

The villain didn’t respond, opting to glare instead. Hawks flexed his wings.

“Hawks, I swear to god, if you tickle me-“ Dabi didn’t get to finish his threat, clamping his mouth shut and squirming about as Hawk’s feathery appendage traced his skin, the tickly touch leaving trails of goosebumps along the pale skin.

“Hm? What was that?” Hawks teased, his smile growing as Dabi squirmed and quivered beneath him, cheeks flushed a soft pink and jaw set in an attempt to keep the embarrassing noises at bay. “Aww! What a cutie! Trying so hard to hide it-come on, let me see that smile!” Hawks teased, finally slipping a hand under Dabi’s hoodie and gently clawed at the sensitive skin.

“GAH! Ahehehehhahahahaha! F-Fuahhahahaha! Stahahap! Dahahahamn y-yohoohhhohou!” The dam broke. Dabi threw his head back and cackled, eyes squeezing shut with mirth as Hawks tickled him mercilessly. He thrashed and squirmed, kicking his feet against the couch cushions as he tried to wriggle free. “Freahhahahaking wiihihings!”

 The Pro hero grinned, delighted by the reaction from the usually somber villain. “There it is! I knew you had some semblance of joy in you! Tickle tickle tickle, Dabi!”

“S-SHuhuhuhuhut uhuhuhp! Ahehehehahhaha! GAH! Nohohohohoho bihihiihihrdie  stAhahahap!” Dabi arched with a squeak when Hawks’ fingers brushed over the lower parts of his stomach, fingers and feathers very gently teasing the terribly sensitive skin like a dance. It left the brunette howling with laughter- the tops of his cheeks burning like the flames he could create. If he still had working tear ducks, he was sure he’d be misty eyed right now.

And Hawks- oh that freaking Hawks. He was laughing with him,seemingly overjoyed by the sight of him so vulnerable! Though- he had to admit; the sound of him laughing was rather nice…

Finally, when Dabi couldn’t take it anymore- when he was just barely getting out a wheeze that embarrassingly sounded like a dog toy- did Hawks stop. The tickles came to an end; his hand opting to rest his hand against Dabi’s warm chest. As the villain gasped for air, he rubbed soothing circles into it, helping him compose himself.

“Ahehehehe..hehehehe…fuhuhuhuck..” Falling back into the couch cushions, Dabi closed his eyes-willing himself to calm. He felt both humiliated and exhausted and…free. Relaxed. At ease. The feeling of Hawks’ hand against his scarred chest- that comforting pressure as he listened to his racing heartbeat- it was nice.

Bastard.

“F-Fuhuck you...Birdie.” Dabi growled, reaching up and punching Hawks in the shoulder. Only the punch was more of a tap, and Hawks laughed as he caught his hand, bringing the scarred limb up and kissing his knuckles.

 “Hey, you enjoyed it! You could have broken free at any time.”

That comforting feeling grew as he realized…he was right. The entire time Hawks had him, he wasn’t holding on that tight- and if Dabi really wanted to escape, he could. The fact he had that option from the get go did funny things to his chest.

Then the humility came crashing back- leaving the scarred villain redder than Hawks wings, which was what he promptly shoved his face against to hide in mortification. “S-Shut up! I- don’t laugh!” His muffled stammering was enough to send Hawks into a laughing fit, flopping against the embarrassed villain and pulling him entirely into his chest.

 “Come now. Don’t be embarrassed. Everyone's ticklish. Even you.”

Dabi groaned against him, only peering out to glare at his feathery boyfriend. “I hate you.” 

Hawks smiled, leaning down and kissing him gently. “I love you too.”
