How Good dad Draxum interacts with his son(s).
For Leo, he'd try to cultivate his strategic mind, offering to play any sort of strategic game with him. One of Leo's favorite past times is playing chess(or any other game) with his father. He also allows Leo to drag him to Leo's favorite spot to hang out in, Run of the Mill Pizza, and while he doesn't care for the human food, he has to admit that Senior Hueso makes some good food.
For Donnie, He got him all the toys he could ever want. even if some of these toys were random appliances like microwaves and blenders. Any time Donnie wants to show him any gadget he makes, Draxum would stop everything and listen on with rapt attention and congratulate him(He's read in a few books that doing stuff like that is key to a child's growth.) and encourages any lethal and unethical tech Donnie creates. And when Donnie grows older, he makes sure to steal a few high school and college text books and random tech from the surface for his son. Though he regrets getting Donnie a human phone.
For Mikey, he highly encourages his interests in painting and cooking. He stole a bunch of human appliances to craft himself a home kitchen for his sone immediately after he showed interest. When he learns of Mikey's mystic talent, he encourages his interests even more. he knows that the best mystic warriors are ones who are the most in tune with themselves. He's grown fond over the years of Mikey's cooking, especially when he comes home to Mikey's food. He also loves Mikey's persona, Dr. Delicate Touch, enjoying his ruthless efficiency. Mikey also loves the lessons between him and Draxum. he loves getting whatever spell he's practicing correct and seeing Draxum's proud father look.
And finally, Raph. At first, he didn't like how gentle and kind Raph was, but new that trying to force him to act differently would be detrimental to his goal of raising a general. Years later, he's actually grown to respect it. He believes Raph would make a good leader to his future army with his kind and optimistic personality. He knows how much Raph likes plushies and has gotten enough plushies for Raph to bury himself in. He also helps Raph with his savage persona, helping him learn to use Savage to his benefit.

The Sep AU is super interesting, like it grabbed my brain and does not want to let go-
I find it interesting how from the Drax Trios innitial perspective everything Donnie is just justifies their opinion more-
Donnies dark aesthetic, murderous humor, dangerous machines, deadpan attitude and lack of liking of magic combined with his alleged backstory and being friends with a human? U could really argue he got indoctrinated into being a villainous mad scientist or smth. They don't know that that's just him, Donnie TM. I can absolutely see them being worried that "Long lost brother" got brainwashed so badly and how annoying that could be for Donnie himself lol
I'm also curious on Donnies relationship with Splinter. Is it better than in canon or similar to Canon or worse? Since in Canon Donnie is craving parental approval, does he still here?
Thank u for (potentially) answering :)
First of all, "Drax Trio", thank you, I needed an easier way to refer to specifically Raph, Leo and Mikey in this AU so I'm gonna steal that
Second, yeah, Donnie acting like a cartoon villain is really just cementing the Drax Trio's idea that he's been corrupted by humans. You know Draxum's villain song in the show? I can totally see Donnie putting on a perfomance like that XD Speaking of Draxum, to be fair he's very alike Donnie in the way that he's fully embracing the whole Evil Scientist aesthetic, but in that case his sons would just excuse it with "oh haha dad's just a bit silly goofy don't worry about it it's not like he's actually evil!"
Anyway, you know how Mikey basically forced Draxum into having a redemtion arc in the show? He'd try to do the same with Donnie in this AU. I've been thinking about this for a while so I'm defintiely gonna draw it, but he's constantly going full Dr. Feelings mode trying to teach Donnie how to be a "good person" and such and Donnie finds it INCREDIBLY annoying!
And Splinter! Being a single parent taking care of a child who was created to be a super soldier while living in the sewers is HARD, but not nearly as hard as taking care four of them at the same time under the same conditions. So while Splinter is still dealing with depression and burn out in this AU, he's doing better than what he is in canon. For years Splinter and Donnie would literally only have each other, so they'd end up growing closer as a result. That being said, because Donnie didn't have any siblings to spend time with, he'd end up demanding a lot more attention from Splinter. Which he didn't always recieve, because his dad is still very much dealing with a lot of emotional baggage. To summarize, Splinter is still a flawed parent, but he's not terrible by any means, he and Donnie are close, but Donnie is also a lot more lonely (especially before meeting April).

Thinking about a ROTTMNT Human AU I was gonna make, and randomly remembered a huge plot...
(I'm in an infodumping mood again)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So basically this human AU follows Yoshi Hamato, aka Lou Jitsu as he adopts four little boys from "Draxum's Home for Lost Lambs". (Raph was the unplanned child of a struggling single mother, who was forced to give him up for adoption. Leo and Donnie were the only biologically-related kids out of the four. Their parents died in a car crash. Mikey was a dumpster baby, found in the alleys by Draxum.) <This is important to the plot! There's a lot more to the story, but it's all subject to change and still in the rough draft state.
Leo, having found a flier for some cool event in the woods (like a musical festival or something) wants to go by himself, but is instructed by Yoshi to take Mikey with him. Leo has an argument with his Dad over it, but Yoshi remains adamant that he take his little brother. Leo grumbles the entire time he and Mikey ride up, and even has an argument with Mikey during the drive where he says something along the lines of "I wish I wasn't your older brother". Before Leo can take it back or Mikey can refute, the two get into an accident after a truck runs Leo's moped off the side of the road and onto a cliff ledge.
Leo wakes up in his bedroom, the day having restarted. He finds that no one remembers Mikey, no one knows who he is! Leo does some investigation and discovers that there is no evidence that Mikey ever even existed. In desperation, Leo visits Draxum's orphanage to ask if Mikey was ever found or adopted, and Drax says no, he has no record of Mikey. Leo realizes that it is possible Mikey was never rescued as a baby and may have died. Draxum suggests that Leo go to the last spot he saw "Mikey" at. Leo does, and has a vision of what happened (from the audience's POV, Mikey just simply yelled at Leo to "look out" before the screen cut to black), and Leo sees that a speeding delivery truck ran them off the road and clipped the back of Leo's moped, causing them to skid and spiral, knocking them into the barrier and sending Mikey flying off the side of the cliff while Leo was thrown several feet forward. Leo realizes that he's dreaming and goes to the vision of his real self and begs him to wake up because Mikey needs him...
Leo wakes up, calls 911, and manages to climb down the side of the cliff to rescue Mikey.
A helicopter arrives shortly afterwards and rescues the two of them, though Mikey is in a coma. At the hospital, Leo explains the situation to everyone, even the argument. Raph and Donnie comfort Leo after he admits what he said to Mikey before the wreck. Micheal stays unconscious for three days before waking up, and Leo is the first to see him. The two talk it over and Mikey slowly recounts his memories leading up to the crash, even remembering the argument, though he tries to gaslight Leo into thinking he doesn't. Leo apologizes profusely and comforts Mikey, saying that he "got a glimpse of what a world without his little brother was like" and that he never wants to see that again. Mikey also tells Leo he saw the truck that hit them, specifically the logo on the side of the van... it was a delivery truck for the Foot Shack...
There's more after this, but for now that's all I'm sharing!!

I love your Rise analyses posts and something I wanted to bring up that I don't often see talked about is Splinter's entire role in the family. What I don't think people realize is just how much he was doing for the boys. Typically, single parents can rely on at least some community supports when raising kids. Splinter, especially Rise Splinter who was aliented from both human and yokai worlds, had nothing. That meant not only was he a father but also teacher, tutor, doctor, and every other adult role model and caretaker a child typically needs. And he did it foe four kids, each with wildly different sets of needs.
The phrase "it takes a village to raise a child" is not a euphemism but a fact. Children require a lot of attention and care to grow up healthily and the turtles did grow up healthy. They all have mental health concerns but they don't show any of the signs you would normally expect from severe neglect. No malnutrition, no illnesses, no signs of self harm or drug abuse. Those kids love easily and are comfortable with love. And while some of that is definitely due to Draxum's science not all of it is. Splinter wasn't just a single dad to his kids, he was A Whole Village.
...I think about this often. Before going into the detailed breakdowns on the boys, I tried to address Splinter's role in their lives in "What They Became." I focused a lot on trying to humanize Splinter by getting us to understand how difficult the situation was and how he persevered/coped in order to take care of the boys as best as he could.
Looking back, I'm not sure that I put enough emphasis on how much he actually did for them to get them through. Like you said, by filling all of those roles in their lives, the turtles are safe, warm, loving, kind, and beautiful boys. He is every bit responsible for the amazing people they grew into. I think I'll make an addendum to the original post at some point in the near future. 😌🤎 Thanks for the ask! 😁 💜💜💜

I feel like 2012 and Rise crossovers focus on Rise too much when they’re having it take place in 2012. Like yeah, having it be in the Rise boys POV is fun. But 2012 has so many things that nobody is taking advantage of
Like the fact that the 2012 boys have a lot of friends and allies. Like in Rise, they have April, then Sunita later on. Plus Casey and Draxum once they go through a redemption arc. And that’s pretty much it. Like they don’t have a large social circle at all. (I may be forgetting someone, but my point is there)
Then you have the 2012 crew. April and Casey are their closest friends, obviously. Leatherhead. Slash. Rockwell, Mondo Gecko, and Pigeon Pete to round off the mighty mutanimals. Timothy (lmao), Kirby (April’s dad), and Kurtzman (that one dude obsessed with the kraang). Renet, Shinigami, and Karai. Honeycutt aka Fugitoid. Bishop and the rest of the Utrom council. Mona Lisa (Y’Gythgba) and the Salamandrians. Murakami, for when they want to just chill and be normal teens. I’m definitely forgetting at least one person, but the list is at over 20 allies.
The boys have connections, and I’d love to see someone have the Rise boys freak out when the 2012 boys go “we’re going to meet some friends” and there’s just someone new every single time.
2012 is a great show. Sure, it’s a bit all over the place, but it’s a fun world to fuck around with. I love that Rise gets attention and I don’t mind that writers tend to prefer Rise’s story elements when writing a crossover fic, but the 2012 boys aren’t just trauma, and there world is more than their enemies.

Hey! Four asks here. I haven't figured how to ask properly though don't mind my mistakes please TwT
1. Has One ever heard birthday's before? Would that be relevant somehow?
2. How does Spilnter react to having deal with telling the boys about who created them once they tell him about Drax and that they found their "dead" brother.
3. This whole disaster twins dilemma got me thinking about what would happen in the episode where Donnie and April are with purple dragons. How would One be there?
4. Would One be friends with Shelldon?
Hi! Oh this questions are fun!
1) One does know about birthdays, he just doesn't celebrate them. I like the hc that Draxum has lived a few centuries so his kind doesn't really celebrate them because it gets tiring. The mindset Draxum has on birthdays being useless and a waste of time is a mindset he passed on to One.
It will be relevant later! :3c
2) This one is a little hard to explain because is not a thing that gets solved in a single situation.
The boys know One is alive and Draxum created them, but Splinter doesn't know that One is alive and that they know about Draxum. Then Splinter finds out about One being alive and the boys have to come clean about how much they know, but they also have questions for Splinter, because the story he had told them on how he got them now doesn't match up if Splinter knows who One and Draxum are. So Splinter "comes clean" but is actually still lying about a whole part of the story so they don't know he was Lou Jitsu.
And then they find out about Lou being their dad, and Splinter still doesn't tell them the truth.
Is not until One moves to the lair that Splinter tells them the whole truth. And it is mostly because he doesn't really have another choice.
Since he lost One, he had been lying to the boys to protect them, so they wouldn't be hurt for things that were out of their control. But as the truth starts to come out Splinter is struggling to keep those lies, some are still to protect his boys, but honestly, some are to protect himself, so he doesn't have to talk or think about about a time of his life he doesn't like.
Raph is the one hurt the most by all the lying.
3) honeslty, I don't think im gonna do that episode. There are some things that don't change from canon since they don't really involve One, so I'm just not gonna make them, that doesn't mean some of them don't happen, it just kind of happens off camera.
4) I still haven't think up much about that dynamic (is still a very long time until I get to that in the story so I'm not worried) but I do want One to be a bad influence on Shelldon lmao

Will there be more to the “Chosen Family” series? I’m curious to know how they all continue living together/grow together now that they know each other.
Does Splinter end up taking the boys to the sewers or does he help Carol get a bigger place so they all live a little more comfortably together? Like does he take up work somewhere in the Hidden City (but is able to stay hidden from Draxum) to earn wages to help support not only his sons but help Carol with April since it seems like she’s a single parent?
Do the boys grow to think of Carol as a surrogate mom or better yet as “Aunt Carol” to them? Same thing with April to Splinter; does she see him as surrogate dad or as “Uncle Splinter” to her? (I’m not sure if I remember you posting something about Carol and Splinter not going into a romantic relationship together but definitely being co-parents to all five kids.)
Basically, I REALLY hoping to see if there’s more comics of the kids as babies. They are just so freaking ADORABLE! I can’t handle how cute you made them!! 🥰
(Please, is there’s more? It’s just so cute! I’m begging! 🥹🙏🏽)
Yes, the comic will continue! 😆

OKAY ABOUT TURT CHIRPING R!CASEY; someone made a comic about raph asking him how cool he was in the future andhe said he only met him when he was a baby but he was one of the most important people he ever met. 'Because you were my dad' AND THAT MAKES ME THINK, CASS GETTING RAPH TO SPERM DON FOR HER AND BIOLOGICALLY HE HAS TURT INSTINCES BUT HES MOSTLY HUMAN
IM SUCH A FAN OF RAPH BEING HIS DAD (the Raph & Casey friendship is a staple and we never got to see it primarily but also i think he'd be a really good dad) AND A LOT OF WORKS JUST FOCUS ON THE CASS + LEO CO-PARENTING JUNIOR BUT I PERSONALLY LOVE THE IDEA THAT WHEN CASS HAD/FOUND JUNIOR SHE EVENTUALLY REALIZED SHE WANTED HIM TO HAVE A MALE ROLE MODEL (whether bc the bio dad wasnt around or shes a lesbian or she found a baby and was like "im a single mom now") AND ASKED RAPH TO BE HIS DAD AND THEY CO-PARENTED HIM AND HE CALLED HIM "POPS" LIKE RAPH CALLS HIS DAD
Ive actually never considered Raph being the bio dad BUT YOU KNOW WHAT if Draxum can insert Splinter's DNA into turtles then he can definitely extract the necessary components of Raph's DNA needed and mix it with Cass' to make a baby
AASDDFGHKLJGF I cant stop thinking about part-turtle!Casey Jr now GALAXY BRAIN

Good dad Draxum AU
I love good Draxum AUs, especially ones where he's still evil. My take on a Good Draxum is as follows:
As Lou Jitsu escapes, Draxum was able to grab one of the turtles(or more). With his lab destroyed, however, he can't rapidly age the turtle tot and reprogram it efficiently. Hence, he's forced to raise it.
At first, he hates the idea of taking care of some sniveling, whiny baby. Especially when he finds that the tot has a conscious. But as he's researching on how to raise a turtle yokai, he realizes something. The best way to raise his future general is to be the best goddamn dad he can be.
He doesn't cut any corners or take any shortcuts even! He's determined to be a good father and raise the best general he could ever hope for! He baby-proofs his lair as he's rebuilding, gets the tot some toys, pits him in the highest-rated daycare in the Hidden City, etc. He also makes sure to cultivate any interests or talents his tot has.
He's still evil, of course, and wants to destroy the human race. He's just also the best single dad in the Hidden City.

I love the idea that Draxum KNEW about the Hamato Legacy. I can imagine after the Shredder is defeated and the turtles maybe want to know more about their ancestry and so ask Splinter… and he just tells them to go ask Draxum.
The funny part of this is that, depending on where Draxum got his information, it might not be entirely accurate. Like primary sources versus secondary sources versus people summarizing secondary sources can get messy when looking for accurate information. Not to mention that sometimes things get translated wrong, or the details aren't written down, or the real meat of the history is preserved orally and not recorded. And especially if the Hamato Clan developed a secretive/isolationist streak at one point (up to interpretation), there's probably a lot of stuff that they never wrote down at all.
And Draxum is probably aware of this but hey, his kids the turtles want to know more about their family history, so since Splinter can't tell them, he might as well step up to the plate and actually tell the kids about their family. So he does he best to share the legends and the stories as best as he remembers them, maybe even showing them the original scrolls and whatnot if they've been preserved. He probably gets into it too, showing them the art, the pottery, the coinage, anything and everything that he gathered or recorded in the process of finding out about the secretive Hamato Clan.
So Splinter lets Draxum go on and on about everything he knows, and then calls up the Hamato Ancestors to fact check it. Like "hey my kids' bitchass other dad was talking shit about you" and then proceeds to correct Draxum on every single detail he got wrong.

TMNT, except it's one of those cliche ‘I Was Transmigrated As the Villainous Lazy Prince!’ with the main character being Mikey.
Orenji, Mikeys real world name, is reading one of the most cliche ‘Normal girl is summoned to a fantasy world as the Saint that will fight against an evil darkness. Gaining her own harem of powerful figures along the way.’ novels.
The villain is Prince Michelangelo who made a deal with a demon in order to gain more power before being taken over by the demon.
Orenji then goes to sleep after reaching the end of the novel and then wakes up in the world of the ‘insert cliche name’ in the body of Prince Michelangelo.
He's surrounded by maids telling him he was in a coma after falling from his balcony. None of his family come in, which fits with the plot of the novel. He decides to fake amnesia.
Before he realizes that the beginning of the story already began. This is bad because by then Prince Michelangelo had already begun antagonizing the Saint for getting close to his brothers.
Blah blah blah, the usual plot, NOW HERES THE INTERESTING STUFF! (under cut)
- Leo is the Crown prince that is never around, but still knows everything going on, he's calculating in nature and is the first to notice that Michelangelo's amnesia is fake/not an actual thing
- Raph is a war general that is known for his brutality is busy fighting on the outskirts to care about drama in the palace
- Donnie is the royal scientist that has greatly improved the scientific field, with microscopic help from the Saint, using her for experiments, he is too trapped in his world to care about what’s going on outside
- Casey is Raphs second in command, following him to war, and in his spare time is a part of the palaces guard, he's obsessed
- April is Donnie's assistant and is also apart of the secret guard
- Splinter is the heartbroken King that tries to be there for his children but sometimes pushes them away
- The brothers do care for each other, especially Michelangelo because he is the youngest, they spoiled him rotten and distanced themselves after realizing that they were the reason the Michelangelo had changed so much
- This broke Michelangelo's heart, who saw his brothers as the lights of his life and saw their separation as them abandoning him
- After waking up, Mikey sought to give himself a better life then both of the ones before by getting close to background influential charcaters, beginning with Donnie
- Donnie tried to figure out why Mikey had amnesia, pushing himself to find a ‘cure’, even through darker means
- Raph was in a war when he got the news of Mikey's amnesia, so he got a bit more bloody just so that he could return earlier then the plot
- Leo might have put a few secret guards around Mikey, but nobody has any proof of that
- Michelangelo and Mikey have very different interests and dislikes, some are flipped for the person, which is what puts suspicion on Mikey not being Michelangelo
- The brothers might have visions of the past timeline
Orenji’s life
- Hes a single child
- He's friends with a pair of twins and a member of the wrestling club, as well as a member of the newspaper club, a member of the hockey club and their cousin
- He was part of the art club, which is why he read the novel, was tasked to draw his favorite scene from an assigned book
- He was popular with other students and staff, being the person that they could go to when they wanted to express their feelings
- He has a part-time job at the local restaurant/bakery, with the shop being a regular participant in the local cook-off competition
- Draxum is his dad, but due to being a well-known scientist he's out of town most of the time, so to not feel lonely Orenji would crash at his friend's house
- Michelangelo might be living his life now

My ROTTMNT Headcanons:
_________________________________
Mikey:
-Slaps bandaids and stickers on everyone when they're sad! Also does the same for himself
-I love how everyone agrees Mikey can cook but I'd like to think he's memorized everyone's favorite meals and makes them on special occasions! He also totally teaches Casey how to cook so the poor boy can have a healthy and productive hobby to seperate his apocalypse life from this one
-Absolutely 100% is the most connected to his mystic abilities. He was the first to unlock them and overall shows a more deep seeded understanding of how they work. Draxum is also silently fascinated by him
-Follow up to the previous hc, after the Krang, Mikey totally trains every night to use his powers and the first thing he does is levitating a piece of pizza into his mouth
-Therapizes every single person in his family, they act all dramatic about it and poke fun at Mikey but they really do apprecate it
-Hides in his shell whenever he's sad and since it's super obvious, his family catches on quickly and can comfort him
-Has like 800 stuffed animals
-His art covers like 70% of the lair because Splinter and the boys keep hanging it up proudly and asking Mikey to make murals of them. Same thing applies to April and Draxum pretends to hate every drawing but in reality he has a special room dedicated to Mikey's art in his apartment
-Is the most empathetic of the group and knows exactly how to calm everyone down on bad days or nights
-Legally cannot say fuck (but Donnie is trying to influence him)
-Has scars on his arms from opening the portal and paints over them, turning them into art (ex: lines turn to vines with flowers or tree branches or little snakes or whatever), whenever he's down
-Painted a huge mural for his gram-gram in the lair
-Sobs hysterically at sad animated movies and shows (*handshake*)
-Calls Draxum mom and/or secondary dad
Leo:
-Sings obnoxiously loud in the shower
-Watches telanovelas late at night and gets really really into them
-Regularly practices sleight of hand and uses it in battle (once went to Hypnopottamus for lessons and neither ever talked about it again but Hypno is secretly proud of Leo's progress)
-Is a hardcore theatre geek with knowledge of plays and musicals that could rival Donnie's knowledge of other topics
-Tries to make people laugh any time he can, even if it's at his own expense
-If he could get a pet, it would be a bird so he could teach it phrases like "Dee is a nerd" and then follow Donnie around all day
-Has a bunch of nightmares about the Krang debacle and checks on everyone after he wakes up just to make sure they're okay. (Sometimes he runs into Raph and they both silently check on everyone together)
-Refuses to tell Donatello that he's his favorite brother because Leo knows it'll just go to Donnie's head
-Used to hate his face marks but his brothers kept telling him how cool they were and nowadays they regret it because all of that just fed his ego (they secretly don't really regret it)
-Couldn't sing if his life depended on it
-Is SUPER good at lying but uses it for good more than anything (ex: when they were younger, he once noticed Donnie not sleeping for a few days so he pretended to have a nightmare and asked Dee to come sleep with him to scare away the monsters. Donnie was our like a light in less than 5 minutes)
-Will do the most insane dares just for the honor
-Regularly goes to Hueso for advice
Donnie:
-Has somehow memorized every digit of pi and literally nobody understands how
-Listens to rain noises when going to sleep. Cannot stand the rain in person (it gets his tech wet)
-Is fantastic at making digital music and makes songs inspired by people and events in his life. He's also not great at singing but wow this man can rap
-Shouts "the floor is lava" at random intervals to see his brothers scramble
-Is the only family members with a driver's license
-Records EVERYTHING and due to this, he puts together people's compliments about him into a playlist and listens to them to either build his ego or just make himself feel better after a rough day
-^^^ Alternatively, he sometimes listens to people's insults as well. And oh boy, don'tcha know he also has the most traumatizing points in his life recorded too! We love listening to Leo sacrificing himself to the Krang over and over again
-Has organized the dishes in alphabetical order
-Really likes anime
-Keeps every gift ever given to him and organizes them neatly in his closet
-Really wants to exchange notes with Baxter Stockboy
-Has named all of his inventions and kisses them goodnight
-Experiences some side effects from controlling the Krang ship, such as tech being influenced by his emotions
-Takes and teaches dance lessons in secret (he uses a disguise)
-Is the best medic in the family and heals people's injuries after battles with assistance from Mikey who slaps bandaids on everyone
-Comes up with super elaborate comebacks to insults in his head after arguments but they all fall apart within 2 seconds of talking and it just devolves into calling people dumbdumbs
-Has an automated lab like Reagan Ridley from Inside Job (also unrelated, but they would totally be friends if they met)
-Uses humor to cope just like Leo
Raph:
-Is the only turtle brother who can genuinely sing
-Has stuffed animal play dates with Mikey's stuffed animals (they both try to keep it a secret and thinks nobody knows but EVERYONE knows and finds it hilarious)
-Collects coupons
-Has snacks stashed around the lair for snackmergencies
-Is the first one his brothers go to for comfort
-Carries his brothers at least 20% of the day
-Loves animals with all his heart but all of them hate him so Donnie made him a robo kitten when they were kids
-Volunteers to feed Repo Mantis' cat on weekends
-Cleans when he's stressed out
-Has eaten a whole watermelon in one bite, rind and all
-Constantly posts on social media but every picture is horrible quality
-Makes his brothers do team building exercises at least once every week during training
-Like Donnie, he also has side effects from the Krang attack but they instead take form in more psychological ways. He constantly questions if his thoughts are his own and if what he remembers sre nightmares or reality. He sometimes hears a voice in his mind but isn't sure if it's just an intrusive thought or something more
-Used to punch a specific spot on his wall whenever he got really excited because he can't keep his energy in so Donnie made him a special punching bag
-Loves watching Mikey cook and helping when he can

Out Of The Shadows and Into The Neon (Part 3)
Donnie Jr chews on an old sparkplug as Donald talks with Draxum.
"Say that four times fast," Leon jokes, laying on Donald's cot to the side and holding his son above him. Leo Jr giggles, waving his stubby little arms and legs. Leon chuckles at the baby noises. "You can try it when you're older."
"But what do you mean they aren't yokai or mutants?" Donald says to Draxum, gesturing at Leon to shut up.
"They are mutants, but it wasn't my ooze that made them."
"So what did?"
"I don't know. It's a chemical composition I've never seen before."
"That means you guys are really special," Angelo gushes, setting Mikey Jr down by Donnie Jr. Mikey immediately goes to grab Donnie's sparkplug, and Donnie cries as it's knocked out of his grasp. Donald doesn't look, engrossed in glaring at Draxum over the lack of satisfying answers but one of his mechanical arms comes out and grabs the plug before it falls and gives it back to the tot. Donnie laughs-squeals happily as the arm pats him on the head.
"Maybe someone found an oozesquito and messed with it," Raphie suggests, dangling a bit of string in front of Raph Jr's face as the tot tries to grab and eat it. "Or uh, four of them."
Draxum sighs, rubbing his eyes. "The tests all suggest they were born this way."
"Oh, so just one then!"
"That's not good either, Raph." Donald picks up Donnie and cradles him. "And why would they be abandoned in an alley? I thought mutant sanctuaries were getting more common."
"We can make something to track down their birth parent," Draxum says, frowning, "But that might mean giving them up. If you guys want to continue with the whole 'heroes' thing, anyway. I say we just keep them no matter what."
The four new dads share a look. Leon's and Raphie's eyes go white with a faint glow for a second, a quick mind-meld discussion-
Leon sighs. "We owe it to them to check, don't we?" He looks up at Leo Jr and smiles softly. "But either way, I promise you boys will have a family. Okay?"
Leo Jr babbles, reaching for Leon. The baby smiles, all gums and love.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"So..." Raphie blinks as they all stare into the apartment a week later. "I guess we're keeping them?"
It's really a rhetorical question, because the mystic DNA tracker has lead them to a human's apartment with a single, completely normal, turtle. And with one DNA test in the tracker's built-in tester... it's a confirmation. That normal turtle, somehow, is their tots' mother.
"Well, unmarked cardboard box, left in an alley, no food or water left with them," Donald lists off, putting up a finger for each item, "Yup, I'd say that human didn't want them."
"But-but how?" Leon holds the sides of his head. "That's not- I thought-"
"Let's not look a gift horse in the mouth," Splints says happily, already shimmying his way back up to the roof. "We get to keep my grandsons!"
"But-!" Leon looks to his twin, throwing his arms out to the window. "Come on! This is weird even for our lives!"
"I agree completely, my dear brother," Donald says with a nod, "Which is why I'll be taking a sample of DNA from that turtle to give to Draxum. But I have a feeling we won't be getting many answers from it. And in that case, there's only one thing to do."
Leon and Donald share a serious look, and then both nod. They speak in unison.
"We get those tots some toys."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Donald scoops Donnie Jr up with one hand, the tiny tot's shell easily fitting into his palm. True, as he's gotten older he's gotten rather large, to put it mildly, but still. His son is small.
His son, and his sons brothers, look very different to him and his own brothers. Draxum wasn't able to tell what species they are, though their mother looked to be some sort of terrapin. Donnie Jr's shell is completely rounded, no curve in towards the bottom of the spine. His hands and feet are large, much more reminiscent of a regular turtle's in terms of proportion. His little feet are completely circular, which while adorable, is probably going to make sneaking around a lot harder. And making shoes an impossibility.
He tickles the bottom of Donnie Jr's foot and Donnie Jr squeals with laughter. Well, the nerves work as they should. And that laugh melts his heart, so that also works as it should.
Donald pulls the baby holder out of it's box and clips it on. Donnie is surprisingly good as Donald gets him into the little holder, and the tot just laughs again as he hangs from Donald's chest. Perfect.
"This-" Donald says, holding up some blueprints, "-is going to be your brother someday. I was finally able to patch the corrupted code from the recovered drives."
The prints show a little turtle-shaped drone, and a second set show a small, stout body with the same head design. "Any preference for his main form? I'm partial to the drone-"
Donnie screams and reaches out, so Donald leans closer, and the tot slaps one little hand on the stout body design. And-
And whimpers.
"Hey." Donald straightens back up, trying to keep his voice soft. "Why does Shelldon upset you?"
Donnie whines again and kicks his little legs, taking in a big breath-
"Oh, no-"
And wails.
"Ah! Please, stop making that noise!" Donald quickly takes his son out of the holder and holds him up to examine him. "No injuries, diaper is clean, we just fed you-"
Donnie wails and sobs some more, and Donald hears an echoing fit start up from Angelo's room. Then from Raphie's, and then from Leon's.
"You've caused a chain reaction!" Donald cradles his son close and bounces a little, patting his son's back as gently as he can while internally panicking. "Um, will a lullaby help? Rock-a-bye Donnie, at the lair's top, when the sub cars ride the whole lair will rock-"
Angelo bursts into the room, eyes bloodshot and a wailing Mikey held in one arm. "Doooonie?" Angelo says, eye twitching and smile forced, "Can you make your boy quiet down already?!"
"Yelling will only make him more upset!" Donald nods at his blueprints. "Hide those, they're what set him off!"
"What?!" Angelo stalks over and sets Mikey down on the desk, looking at the plans and flipping them over. "Your Shelldon plans made him cry?!"
"I don't know why, but yes!"
Mikey keeps wailing, Donnie keeps wailing, Mikey makes grabby-hands and his little all-pupil eyes focus on-
Donald quickly shifts his hold. "Give me Mikey!"
"Wh-"
"Do it!"
Angelo hands Mikey over, and Mikey immediately wiggles closer to Donnie and snuggles against him. After a few moments the sobbing and screaming beings to calm, and calm, down to whimpers and them gasps and then...
Soft breathing. They're asleep.
"As adorable as this is," Angelo says, snapping a picture quickly, "I am tired, man!"
"I'll be awake longer." Clearly, the Shelldon plans are... delayed, so he'll have to find something new to work on with Donnie. Maybe something more basic... Leo Jr did drool all over their toaster earlier, so maybe they can build a new one together.
He'll... probably make Shelldon the drone again. Hopefully that will... sit better with his son.
"You drop Mikey off back in my room before you fall asleep, got it?" Angelo pats Donnie on the shoulder as he leaves. Leo Jr and Raph Jr have quieted down out there, so at least it's quiet again.
Donnie uses his robotic arms for the rest of the night, cradling the tiny close close to his chest.
For such little things... they're full of a lot of mysteries.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Hey, that's how we got these two to calm down!" Raphie is mindful of not talking with his hands as Raph determinedly sucks down his bottle. Any disturbance to his meal and he'll throw a massive tantrum, so Raphie must stay very still.
"As soon as we put them together they calmed down." Leon hands Leo a little tongue depressor, and Leo begins waving it around with wide eyes. His lack of coordinator is adorable enough to make Leon tear up a little. It's been less than a month and he would die for this little guy. For all four of them.
"Awww, they really do take after their dads," April teases. "Lemme guess, Raph Jr was the big spoon?"
"Actually, Leo was." Raphie relaxes in relief when Raph Jr finally releases the bottle. He burps the baby carefully, and then sets him on his lap and start bouncing him up and down.
"Because my son is bigger," Leon points out with a smug smirk. "Because he's a champion."
"Speaking of," Cass says, tilting her glass of wine at Leo (and not caring one bit that it's morning, she is committed to being a wine aunt), "Are you planning on training them to follow in your footsteps as powerful warriors?"
"No duh." Leon rolls his eyes. "They're mutants and our kids, it'd be neglect if we didn't train them at least a little."
"I will supervise," Splinter says happily, playing peek-a-boo with Mikey Jr. "But I am not helping in training until they are older. I could barely keep up the first time!"
"Not your fault, Papa," Donald assures, going through his favorite textbooks to make a Bedtime Reading pile. "We were simply too dope, even as toddlers."
"Mmm, that's one way to put it." Splinter laughs as Mikey, without fail, squeals in delight with every reveal of his face.
"I brought pizza," Casey declares as he enters. He sets the boxes down and opens them up.
Everyone leans over the pizza and stares.
"Is that... jellybeans?" Angelo looks caught between being ill and being violently offended. Splinter picks up a slice and takes a cautious bite. He stiffens, and then his whole body shudders.
"I asked for pepper things on the phone!" Casey looks through the other boxes and sighs in relief. "The rest are fine."
"Pepper things?"
"Those yellow sort of spicy ones?"
"... You mean pepperoncinis?"
"Those! Yes! ... May we go over some of the names of foods again, Master Michelangelo?"
"Oh, I wasn't about to let you leave not knowing every single pizza topping after this." Angelo gives Casey a friendly punch to the shoulder, and they both laugh. As they do, though, Angelo sees Mikey crawl closer to Splinter, to his hand, his little baby mouth open and showing some tiny baby teeth-
"NO!"
It's too late.
But Mikey doesn't choke, or throw up, or spit it out.
He... chews and swallows. And he smiles.
And he goes back for more.
Everyone watches in horror at the enthusiasm Mikey has for the monstrosity of pizza.
"He... he'll grow out of that." Angelo nods to himself. "He'll grow out of that."
