the misogyny in this fandom shows up in ways that are more subtle than just straight up “I HATE WOMEN”

it shows in the way laurance and garroth are praised and love for being charlatans and casanovas, for having women pine after them but turn around and think it is weird and gross that the same thing happened to aphmau, but with the opposite gender ie male attention rather than female attention.

it comes in the way kim is repeatedly bashed and treated as a useless worthless character because people believe a character like, lets say laurance for the sake of this example, should have taken her place instead. it shows in the way people worry more about dantes honor and character and how nicole is horrible for not saying anything about their child even though dante was the one that left. it shows in the way travis has always been held in a higher esteem than katelyn, both in mcd and in mystreet. it shows in the way michi is universally hated by everyone for the stalking, for the black mail, for the harrasment, but when a character like gene or ein do the same they are forgiven and it is watered down to them just being complex and traumatized characters who deep inside are good people. it shows in how zane is labeled a complex villain in mcd, but ivy is considered evil and horrible and a two dimensional villain.

just stop, pause for a moment and think about the drastic difference this fandom treats male characters, versus female characters.

I have this little II + BFB Warriors AU in my head and Springy's a bunny. This was made after II3 EP 17 and before the finale, so I had no idea if I would have Springy be a Dark Forest spirit or simply heavily injured. I'm going with the DF thing.

Quick heads up for bright colors (when it comes to my DF designs, they're Glowwave so they're going to have bright colors). I do wanna say that the reason for the green colored scars is that I have the scars they were given in life be the color of who scarred them in the DF. They're also holes in Springy's body, so possible warning for that as well

Welcome to Hels-A-Noon June!!

The Concept

SO. What is Hels A-Noon June? Simple. It's a 30 day drawing challenge encouraging fans of Hermitcraft and Modded Crew to conceptualize and design their own Helsians!! It's a dying art and I wanted to revive it!!

The Rules

All fanwork is allowed! Fanfics about your Helsmits, fanart of them, concept artwork, etc etc... I just wanna see the Helsmits of the fandom!!!

You DO NOT have to draw a new drawing every day, you are 100% allowed to prep your drawings and queue them for the month! You're also allowed to skip days if you don't have any ideas. This isn't meant to be stifling or anything. If you have a Hermit or Friend you want to draw a Hels for, draw them first and queue it up!! This is literally just to encourage fun and edgy designs based on the Cubitos!!

The rules aren't super strict, you don't really have to do them in order, heck, you don't even have to do them in June. This is a super loose, fun thing.

What the Heck is a Hels!?

So for those of you who don't actually know what the heck I'm talking about!! A Helsmit, or a Helsian as I like calling them, is just. The Hels counterpart of a Hermit. The only canon Helsmit is Helsknight, we don't actually know if others exist! But that hasn't stopped anyone!!!

There are 2 ways fans typically go about designing Helsmits.

One approach to making a Helsmit by simply making the opposite of the respective Hermit. This is a pretty common method and I can totally see the appeal. It IS a Mirror Dimension after all

The other approach to making a Helsmit is by taking a trait, whether positive or negative, and twisting it until it's something bad. You're making an evil little guy here.

Why are there Non-Hermits in this prompt list?

Simple answer, because I think it's cool! Back when Skizz wasn't a Hermit, I was potentially the first person to create a Hels version of him! I also made it a point to make a Hels Scott and a Hels Jimmy. Nowadays, it's not uncommon to see Hels versions of Life Series folks! Heck, one of the more popular Hels fics has a very relevant Hels Jimmy!!

Can I Draw Fanart of Other People's Helsmits?

ABSOLUTELY!!! As long as you tag who you're drawing fanart for, it's free game. No passing off a Helsmit that isn't yours as your own, though!! That's stealing!! And that's bad! I know we're celebrating evil clones here but we don't do that!

But yes, you're allowed to draw fanart for other Hels, I know of a Hels Tango that I bet multiple people would want to draw

Why Are You Even Doing This?

I'm doing this literally just because I want an excuse to make references for my Helsmits, design some new ones, and I just want to see Helsblr revived from the dead. I won't even lie I was inspired by Hermit-A-Day May to do this, and I only chose the month of June because it's Helsknight's birth month!

Housekeeping Stuff (for once in my life)

Listen, I've been stalking simblrs, and I am in awe of some people's navigations. Like truly, some of y'all are goals! I didn't really know what I was doing at first, so my hashtags and organization are a bit of a mess. I was used to long-form on WordPress, so trying to figure out how to make that work here while experimenting with some new styles (like captions) has been awesome as hell but hard.

Not to mention, I'm rotating through a whole save file for inspiration, so I was really struggling with how best to capture everything without completely losing the plot of the main storyline I'm trying to focus on.

BUT I DIGRESS (WHY DO I TALK TO SO MUCH MY GOD)

My point is that I'm cleaning up my navigation, hashtags, and labels. I've got three main "story posts":

Main Story (The Save File Chronicles): These are long-form chapters based on the POV of a set group of characters that I release in parts as regularly as my gremlin brain will allow. Right now, that's Alice, Vlad, Miko, William, and Akira.

Subplot (Current: The Devil Went Down to the Magic Realm): This is a single side story that runs parallel to the main plot. It may feature different "households" but it is only one storyline. These posts come in between the main chapters. You can skip them, but they give insight into all the stuff the main characters are reacting to (or not reacting to bc they don't know about it 😈)

Side Stories: Basically, the equivalent of checking in on a household. Side stories are not linked in the main story navigation, but they might end up linked in a reference if they become relevant as canon. Otherwise, it's just me faffing around, lol.

Anyways, IDK why I needed to blab about this, but I did. I've got three chapters in the queue, but I want to organize my shit before I post them. Um, here, have a spoiler image as a reward for listening:

I would love to get an intro from Crast!

Fair warning to you — ⚠️ He's a yapper! ⚠️ So this one is LONG!!

Good morning to you, afternoon, or night. For the time being, I will be using the "main text" to introduce myself, since I will be the one speaking plainly.

My name is Orneus Crast.

My conception is a complicated one, so I'll begin with what I know to be true of our journey together, meaning myself and the host, Jessica.

Years ago, our host began playing a game called Warframe. This may not seem relevant, currently (given the animation posted at the top of this explanation and the post's subsequent tags), but I assure you that it will round out.

For those of you who do not know, Warframe is a game based in the Origin System. It is inhabited by a handful of occupants, those being the Grineer, the Corpus, the Infestation, many sub-species in-between, and - most importantly - the Tenno, of which I am one. Though, this is already where things begin to deviate.

In the plot of Warframe, there rests many holes. Complex ends that are left untied, up to interpretation, or simply misguided, mishandled, and messy. This - coupled with the lack of support for multiple Tenno driving the story forward, even though that is clearly a key feature of the game's core mechanics - is how Jessica and her partner could so easily formulate their own plot and universe within the scaffolding the game already provided. They rebuilt the entire plot of the world handed to them from the ground up, filling it with their own "characters" (not yet completely realized to actually be alters simply waiting in queue to find their place and keep them both mentally centered), and then leading them through a journey both through the written word, role-play, and real life discussions/"acting".

Again, neither of them knew at the time that their Alters existed. It was complicated. We were covert. Etc. I felt I should emphasize this point.

After about 6 to 8 years of this, my creation began. First, with a concept of a band of Apostles returning to "shake up the heroes efforts", and then with a name: Orneus Crast.

My name was made to sound chilling and lustrous. I was made to be a villain who would uprise and usurp the heroes' might, topple their winning streak, and crush them in my monstrous palm! But that ended up not being the case. Instead, a bait-and-switch. The "villains" they'd been fighting against all along being misunderstood, rumors of the Crast Apostasy having been twisted by hearsay and the cruelty of time. (Though, I can not blame them. Tenno live up to roughly 200 years. That's plenty of time to have a game of he-said-she-said warp the truth, especially when considering I had been placed within cryostasis for that length of time, if not slightly longer, so I skipped a few generations.)

Regardless, the heroes' visions were quite wrong in the end, which their leader (Elijah S. Connor)'s right-hand man - and lover - (Lysander O. Bradley) quickly discovered after having gone undercover in our ranks, infiltrating my orbital fortress (The Tower) and placing himself as a spy in my ranks. I knew, however, but— Well, where's the fun in telling him that?

So, all in all, their plot to infiltrate and ruin us from the inside-out didn't work in their favor, but instead my own. In the end, Lysander learned to trust me (and my Apostles, my dearest friends), and I him, to the point I felt a protectiveness of him I hadn't felt in many decades.

In truth, Lysander felt... like a son to me. I truly, encapsulatingly, wanted to guide him, to see him grow and thrive, and he reminded me so much of myself. I grew proud of his accomplishments and offered the very fortress he had been assigned to sunder - not as a target or prison, but - as a home. A place in which he could feel safe, secure, and - above all else - loved and understood.

He took his time. He even returned to the Prime Rebellion (the group of heroes led by the aforementioned Elijah S. Connor) for a time and tried to find refuge there again, but his outlook had already been changed, and he ended up returning to The Tower in the following months.

I still remember embracing him so very tightly and muttering to him, "Welcome home." It makes me smile, even now, and I hope he does as well.

But, I digress...

Warframe - and the Origin System - are very much my home. The Origin System is where I was born, breathed my first and last breaths (my "last" happening twice, in fact!), and where I grew into the man I am today. But, back in the time of my conception by the host, she was using something called "faceclaims" for her characters (Aka: Alters), and Zhongli was the one that most closely represented her mental vision of me at the time. So, that was that. I claimed his face, and we moved onward.

Childe - my beloved - had to excuse himself at the scene. But, again, I'm sure that you - the user reading this (if you're AT ALL well acquainted with Genshin Impact) - are probably rather confused. So far, there's an image of Zhongli (from Genshin Impact) at the top of this introduction, and there's the mention of Tartaglia Childe (also from Genshin Impact), yet the only source material referenced thus far has been Warframe and the only other names used having been original conceptions from the hosts, so how does it all come together?

Well, this is how.

In fact, due to that, Childe became my lover, though he kept his original name as well. I can even remember how it happened: Jessica browsing through content of my faceclaim in order to expand her resources, and then I was the one who stilled her hand over a particular image, which still fills me with so much trembling warmth—

—I couldn't help but demand, "To whomever those hands belong, I want him to be mine. My guardian, my right hand, my opposite, and my complex love affair: He will be mine." And Childe, without hesitation, responded in kind.

Even to this day, Childe had the fastest voice reveal in my/our partner's System. He LITERALLY said, "I want him," and then it was like this brand new, never-before-seen grin spread over their lips, and this brand new voice poured out saying, "Then I'm yours!" And that was that! Still incredible... Like he'd been waiting for someone to claim him that whole time, and the two of them have NEVER changed, haha! 😂 What Crast says, goes! Childe never falters, has saved his life multiple times, and doesn't even flinch. He loves him with EVERY fiber of his being! And now they're married, and—!

Aren't you getting ahead of the narrative?

...yes. But you're such a yapper, I feel like it'd take another 90yrs of reading just to get to that point! 😩

I had a faceclaim - Zhongli (or Morax) - from Genshin Impact, a game which they had not yet played (but would eventually in the years to come), thus explaining why I look the way that I do and my immediate ties to Childe, who - in our "Tennoverse" - is called Tartaglia Childe (first name Tartaglia, last name Childe) in full, and that is that.

So, overall, in review:

I am a 200+ year old Tenno in the Origin System

I've died twice, but only once on purpose

I have a lover named Tartaglia Childe, though he's most likely not the Tartaglia you're used to (though he's very similar, and has ADHD)

We're married, alongside Xiao (who actually IS the Xiao you're used to, from Teyvat)

and I also have an adopted son named Lysander who was originally sent into my Tower to spy on and possibly kill me, but didn't, and was instead fighting to protect me when I was subsequently stabbed by his X-lover, Elijah, and then died the second time, which was the time that was NOT on purpose (whoops)

Still, that second stabbing DID grant me the ability to perceive all time and space and allowed me access to the Inbetween and System as a whole, so - overall - not too shabby of an outcome, if I do say so myself!

But there is... much, much more, and our host's mind is growing weary from my heavy presence. We're starting to combine again, my speech slipping into hers into mine, so I believe it is time to depart.

1. why did you choose your url?

i wanted a new fandom penname and at the time adjective + noun names were a thing. i fiddled with several different variations, tried and failed to acquire kaleidoscopicmoonrise at the time (it's mine now!!), and landed on this one. i wanted something a little spooky, especially since soul eater was my fandom at the time - though it doesn't feel like it now that my icon is a lot more sane-looking lmfao

2. any sideblogs? if you have them name them and why you have them.

uh. yeah. a stupid amount (like 30+?), so i'm definitely not naming them all. most active are obviously this howl blog, my main blog @commandersya, this one for danny phantom and gravity falls stuff, @howlingspacegoo gets some activity every now and then when venom stuff resurfaces, and some others i use for reblogging specific reference stuff. most of the rest are for fandom events i've run in the past.

since like 2011-2012. i've seen it all.
