Also since I adore jealousy and possessiveness and whatnot in writing (and I'm in mood for angst) let me expand on what you wrote if I may.

Price and Nik used to date and while it was never too serious for Price, Nik still has feelings for him. And John doesn't really are it because to him Nik is just a good friend, his oldest friend and someone he (platonically) loves and trusts. But you know.

It almost becomes competition of sorts between you and Nik. Sure John loves you far more than he ever loved Nik but Nik knows him better and he isn't afraid to show it.

He knows about this one band John loves that you never even heard of and he buys John their record. He knows about that one niche type of tea John drinks, but only when he has a cold. He knows exactly how to fuck John so well that he blacks out for a few moments. And what hurts the most, he was John's first and he knows John in a way you feel like you will never be able to.

John is devoted to you but first love leaves a mark and by the time you met John, he was already older and mature and he knew exactly who he was as a person. Nik got to experience John in his truest and rawest, John before bitterness of war and while it shouldn't matter and it shouldn't hurt, it does.

And you know John would never cheat on you but sometimes a thought can't help but to creep in...does he miss Nikolai? Does he want him back? ...does he see Nikolai in me?

(Naturally the answer is no, he loves you because you're love of his life and he doesn't want anyone else but you don't know that since you just can't bring yourself to bring up the topic)

Thinking about you being the troublesome soldier that Price has taken under his wing.

However you’re doing everything to resit the help he’s trying to give, telling him that you’re not a charity case when he takes you in his squad, telling him that you’re not a charity case when he wants to patch you up after you got into a fight, telling him you’re not a charity case when he decides to keep you on his squad even when you mess up during a mission.

It’s inevitable to develop feelings, no matter how much you try to prevent yourself from doing it.

However you’re more than sure that he doesn’t feel the same. Who would want a kid who’s been kicked out of every squad he’s been in? Besides Price’s got a man by his side that remembers the tea he likes to drink when he’s sick, the band he likes to listen to and buys their records for him and even knows how to fuck him so good he momentarily forgets about everything that’s plaguing him.

But what you don’t see is that Price reciprocates your feelings. The tea Nik buys for him, Price makes for you when you can’t sleep at night or when you’re down with the flu. The cd Nik buys for him, Price mentions when it’s just the two of you hoping you’ll want to listen to them with him and all of a sudden Price finds himself visiting Nik less and less because all he can think about is you fucking him into the mattress.

Tension are high when you walk into the mess hall and see Nik and Price talking to each other. Price’s eyes immediately fall on you, a small smile tugging at his lips but all you can see is the way Nik’s got an arm around him, the way he’s saying something to Price that has him laughing and before you know it jealously’s brewing in the pit of your stomach

As you walk past them, Price feels the smile drop from his face, quickly noticing the nasty scratch on your face and without even thinking he pulls you towards his table.

“What happened?” He says with a hand on your cheek and you have to awkwardly balance your tray of food so you don’t drop it.

“Nothing” you grunt out, avoiding his gaze but feeling heat creep up your face, all while Nik watches with interest.

“Doesn’t look like nothing” Price snaps back, thumb pressing down onto your cheek and watching the way you wince.

“Why do you care?” You snap at the older man, wincing yourself as you hear the words leave your mouth.

However the older man easily avoids the daggers in the shape of words, already used to them.

“Was is it sergeant phillips again?” Price says “why didn’t you come to me instead”

“You were busy” you say, finally glancing at the Russian next to him.

“Nikolai” the man says, hand stretching out towards you with a smile on his face.

You grunt out something along the lines of your name before you pull your face away from the older man’s hand, muttering some excuse that you have something to do, not wanting to sit here and hear Price gush about the man he’s in love with, while the man in question is here.

“Make sure to get that patched up you hear me?” Price shouts out behind you, “or I’ll see you in my office” his words catching the attention of the other soldiers in the mess hall.

“You’re making it too obvious you know?” Nikolai says while trying to suppress his chuckle

“Shut up Nik” “ Price snaps back feeling heat creep up his face while watching you walk away.

I saw a post complaining about musical Dimitri so I want to know what is your favourite things about him in the musical?

sigh... musical dmitry... giggling kicking my feet twirling my hair thinking about him. i'm always daydreaming about him. if you saw me on the street irl i almost guarantee you'd catch me lost in some variation of musical dmitry thoughts.

there are so many things i could say here, anon. his redemption arc™ from a selfish liar to the most noble and self-sacrificing slavic sadboy i've ever seen? his angsty daddy issues backstory? his bewitching silly goose ways? how he lets One Woman completely change the trajectory of his life? how he falls into an emotional spiral about it? the way he Knows Who He Is and is very self assured in his identity, and helps anya do the same? how his identity is so intertwined with his home? his role as a Storyteller™? etc????

but for this ask today i'm going to focus on how gentle he is. i don't think gentleness is something that comes very easy to this dmitry. he lost his father at a young age, as we know. he was alone on the streets and had to fight to stay alive. he cons people for a living. by the time we meet him he's very cynical about the world and doesn't really trust anyone, other than vlad. mostly he just relies on himself and can't really count on anyone else. when he meets anya, a cryptic girl who is a bit off but in need of help, his first response is to scoff and send her away, since unstable people are too risky to deal with. he's capable of being charming, but he uses this skill to get what he wants.

a lesser character with an identical backstory would be gruff and unfeeling, but... this dmitry isn't. in spite of it all, he's so hopeful, though he buries it deep. his most treasured story is about a girl he met at a parade. he is known as the 'prince of petersburg,' has a relationship with everyone on the streets. in the hartford production he calls an older woman in the ensemble 'little mother.' he rescues vlad, a complete stranger, from a firing squad. and though he turns her down at first, he agrees to get anya to paris. he protects what's his own.

you can tell it takes him a while to learn gentleness. whether it's physical or verbal, especially around anya, he is still always on the defensive for a while. fight first, think later. she's really jumpy and skittish but he doesn't start changing his behavior until they fight the ruffians together. he flags all of his movements around her, making sure she knows his intentions first. he talks about his father. he gives her a music box because he thinks it'll make her smile. because she 'earned it.' when she's crying after a nightmare he tells her a sweet, simple story from his childhood.

the train scene is the best example of this shift-- when she cowers after the gunshot goes off, he is completely lost about what to do. 'calm her down,' vlad tells him, but how is he supposed to do that? she's sobbing into his shoulder and he's frozen, panicking, because what is he supposed to do here??? but he shushes her and holds her anyway. he does his best. and it works. in such a tense situation where they very well could be shot next he is so so gentle and patient with her. and by the time we reach iacot in paris, he knows exactly how to comfort her. he learned how to hold her gently and speak in a soft voice. how softness can ground someone in need.

to summarize: musical dmitry is... really soft? and softness/gentleness isn't really something you see in the conman archetype very often. he is so special.

Not surprised but still saddened to hear about Navalny. Do you think his murder will trigger any serious repercussions for Putin from either the Russian people who supported Navalny or US politicians gaining a backbone and getting Ukraine the aid they need?

I would love to say that Navalny's death would trigger domestic unrest when combined with Kara-Murza's arrest and Nazdezdhin's banning from the upcoming Russian elections, but I'm not very optimistic. While Navalny was the best-known of the opposition figures, opposition to Putin is still quite fringe. The majority of Russians, especially those in places like Moscow and St. Petersburg, are broadly popular of Putin and largely support what he's doing (provided of course, that someone else goes to get themselves thrown into the Avdiivka meat grinder - some convict or minority). Even the predominantly non-Slavic regions have yet to see any serious separatism, there are plenty of collaborators that are willing to take the Kadyrov treatment.

But here's hoping I'm wrong, and Russia experiences domestic protests that causes them to withdraw their troops.

Mike Johnson just gave a big statement regarding Navalny's death, but before his appointment to Speaker he was actually making statements supportive of Ukraine - he's since gone mum on that largely because the same rules changes that got him into the Speakership can be used against him and MTG is eager to oust him. Johnson is a political rookie, elected in 2016, he rose very high and very rapidly, and isn't likely to risk his cushy job. So I don't predict the GOP will actually advance the Ukraine aid.

From a Congressional perspective, the smart play would be if the Democrats and the pro-Ukraine Republicans put a discharge petition onto the foreign aid bill. The MAGA-ites and the Squad are going to vote against that, but they could probably secure enough aisle-crossers to get it on the floor. Likely it's too late to help Avdiivka, which is a real shame. If Biden decided to go the executive route, he could write off equipment as Excess Defense Articles and ship them to Ukraine - he's been using the Presidential Drawdown Authority clause instead. Why Biden is doing that - trying (vainly) to maintain bipartisanship, or saving it for an emergency so that he can throw a wrench into Republican plans closer to the election, I do not know.

Ok so i’m sorry i don’t remember if i already ask about your headcanons on Micolash background story before Byrgenwerth? But if you already answer this, you said a while ago that you hc he studied history right? Could you tell is more?

Noo you didn’t ask:) So

Let me begin from this: I'm not sure how to interpret the game world - whether it is placed in a world similar to ours in which there are the same nations and countries as ours (and Yharnam is in one of them or is a city-state) or maybe it is a completely different world? Anyway, my point is that Micolash is a Czech name (as you probably already know), but anglicized - in Czech (and Slovak) it is Mikoláš or Mikuláš. I think that the game's creators used many Slavic names (and motifs) for a reason (but I will write about that in another post...) So I think he is either Czech, or it is a way to show that he is a foreigner? Or Yharnam is actually based on Prague and Slavs are actually native here? Either way - my headcanon is that in both situations he is either a foreigner or the child of foreigners. Eventually Yharnam became such a cultural melting pot that people gave different names to their children regardless of origin, because different names from different cultures became popular here. Therefore, since childhood, he has an idea of such things as cultural differences, language differences, etc. It was something that made it easier (or even motivated him?) to study history.

Early on when I joined the fandom, I adopted the headcanon that he and Rom were siblings. Well... They had a rough childhood (BUT this is absolutely not an attempt to excuse Micolash - I hate the type of Disney villain who is made into a poor victim, so all the bad things he did were not his fault uwu). They supposedly had both parents, but... both parents severely neglected them. There was often physical and psychological violence between them. All this happened for years in front of Mico and Rom. Emotional neglect always has a strong impact on the child's psyche... And in this case, the younger Rom suffered the most. Mico was the one who had to keep calm and take care of and protect them both. And it was Mico who convinced her to join the university. For them, studying was a chance to escape from this terrible everyday life. Of course, that wasn't the only reason, they were both very intelligent and curious about the world. Yes... VERY curious, especially Mico. But more on that in a moment. And at that moment I had a dilemma - because I couldn't decide whether they were studying history or medicine. Or maybe something else?

Yes, I told you once that Mico studied history (because Byrgenwerth was mainly a place to study history and archeology). The "Byrgenwerth squad" must have had some idea about the Pthumerians, what their history was like, and what their contacts with the Great Ones were like. But he might as well have studied medicine! Whereas there is a theory that the Mensis Scholars were actually kidnapping people to study the corpses. It wouldn't make so much sense if Mico didn't know anything about it, right? And honestly, I REALLY like Katy's theory about Mico's strange "fascination" with women's organs and their ability to give birth in general (I can't find it now, but you probably know what I mean xD). Already in his childhood, he did not have a good example when it comes to treating women as equal (as I already said... a difficult childhood and severe domestic violence). He saw only Rom as his equal. What I'm getting at is that this is where history and medicine come together! A woman's ability to give birth and the possibility of being an "incubator" for the Great Ones was connected to the history of the Pthumerians (Queen Yharnam and Mergo) and Cainhurst (Annalise and the child of blood). Fascination with these two topics led to experiments in Yahar-Gul, the creation of The One Reborn and an attempt to make contact with the Great Ones! Apparently history likes to repeat itself... Did it stop Micolash to do all these things? Absolutely not.

I just finished: Metro Exodus!

Compared to the previous Metro games, this one sure is a whole lot different, which isn't necessarily worse - but if you liked the previous games you won't necessarily like this.

The game play is no way bad, though I didn't enjoy it as much as the other games - this is purely personal preference of course, as I enjoy Survival Horror style game play more. This one still has retains some elements of that, resource management is somewhat present, though it's more akin to a Fallout or Stalker game, instead of Resident Evil or F.E.A.R. Most of the horror themes have disappeared as well - whilst I'm not entirely sure if I would call the originals horror games, (if i need a single term I'd probably go for post-apocalyptic, the kind of thing I would think as being sterotypically Slavic) but they were certainly more so than this. Less fighting monsters, more fighting human 'survivors'. Most of the monsters you see are Zombies now, which I'm fairly sure weren't in the others, The game has a shockingly low number of mutants.

Along with horror, the sci-fi parts have also taken a hit, I almost forgot playing through this that the other games were mostly about psychic neohumans? The concept feels so at odds with the new direction they took this one. You might wonder, if it's not horror, not sci-fi, what is this new direction? Well of course it's still very much working within the Post-apocalyptic genre, focusing on disputes between various groups with differing political outlooks, as the survivors fight to stay alive - Exodus, however, focuses a lot more on that second part than the previous games, fleshing out the various characters far more and actually making me remember their names, or at least the fact they existed at all.

You have a small squad of characters that you stick with throughout the whole game, and each of them has at least something to distinguish them, even if it's fairly small (I'm pretty sure there's the staple one guy who likes food). I did find myself somewhat caring about them as the game went on, which is a huge change from the previous games where every character felt throwaway - I suppose part of this is a shift of the protagonist - Artyom's - perspective, previously no one in his life lasted long enough to get attached to, everyone almost immediately died or betrayed him -but now he has attained a stable social group, and a family. Speaking of which, Anna is the biggest change for the better, like many other games, now she and Arytom are married she has moved on from being the destined love interest, and she is allowed to be more of character in her own right.

It might seem odd that I haven't talked about the shooting or anything in what is primarily an FPS, but the characters storytelling was what really stood out to me in this game. Yes, it is fun to modify your guns to suit your play style and sneak around quietly shooting everyone - the Tikhar (air gun) is particularly cool in this one, and is given a lot of attention - but the how much the story moved me was kind of a shock. I'm not sure if other's will agree - I can see how people would just see it as stiff, or maybe tropey, but it hit me in a way I can't quite explain. - I actually almost cried at the end, even though it didn't come as any surprise.

Grade: B

I have a little pack of shadow company guys I have made that are just little creatures

You have Lieutenant Keaton Whaley who was made just for the idea of having a shadow that towers over everyone at 6'10 who could rival König in a fist fight. He's a good ol Kentucky boy who served in the Navy and was a Navy SEAL. He's sarcastic dramatic cowboy who loves his little team to death but they make him absolutely want to pull his hair out too. He's pretty close with his like right hand/best friend Aleksei Kuznetsov and is like pretty well known for his sass. Like he's know to sass Graves like a lot and even seems to have a friendly relationship with the commander himself.

Then I have Sergeant Major Aleksei Kuznetsov who is a first generation Russian - Romani immigrant that originally had been working for the CIA before his recruitment to Shadow Company. He's just a quiet guy and mostly shows his like thoughts and appreciation through actions. He's a man of few words but very loyal to a fault. He's Keaton's like go to guy since they work in the same squad and often are usually paired together to help train recruits. Aleksei doesn't have much of family but pretty much got adopted into Keaton's at this point, they are like brothers. He goes by the callsign Notsnitsa which is a creature in Slavic mythology known to cause nightmares.

I don't have much for the rest of Keaton's team just her but it's gonna have two more of them, maybe, but for sure one with callsign Mulder (the local cryptozoology and paranormal ball of sunshine who is scary good when it comes to reconnaissance and surveillance.)

I have a feeling Keaton and his team would get along with fellow Shadows, The Lions.

Personally, love the fact that Keaton is a dramatic cowboy (would totally get along with Kali) and the fact that he sasses Graves a lot. Love a tall man, I bet he scares any and every enemy that comes across him.

Aleksei's callsign being a creature in Slavic mythology known to cause nightmares is so cool and also such an interesting fact about Aleksei. I feel like he definitely lives up to his callsign.

Mulder sounds so cool and I would love to know more when they're fully fleshed out.

5. What’s their favorite type of weather? Do they like to do anything specific on days when the weather is how they like it?

Most of my OCs are night owls/mostly work during the night hours so I would say most prefer clowdy weather - enough light to be able to see but not to be seen at night kinda thing

Obi's former pack/gang, consisting of Tom, Haru, Kris, Hana, Nokaru, Kano, Haruhi and newly Zee/Marina, have their own little hideout/safehouse similar too these huge ahh treehouses. Whenever it's a nice sunny day (without it being too hot) during spring they like to eat together outside on their "porch" - they are suckers for warm sunny weather ideally without a cloud in the sky.

9. How do they write? Do they write in cursive? How do they dot their i’s and j’s? Do they have specific ways that they write certain letters?

Emi: the most gorgeous cursive you've ever seen. Elegant, consistent and easily readable.

Sister Fiona: trained in rewriting books like monks and stuff - very fast writer and it somehow ends readable, she makes her letters longer than they actually need to be.

Doctor Nana: she's a doctor :/

11. What kinds of foods and drinks do they like? Do they like certain foods to be fried? Do they prefer certain foods to be prepared hot/cold?

I've never put much thought into their food preferences tbh...all I know is that Zarr and Butcher like anything made with alcohol.

I can imagine Haru being really into fried food and Sister Fiona into soups hmm

20. Was your OC inspired by anything? Another character? A person?

Oh babe most of my background OCs take heavy inspiration from my fav thing (show, movie, song etc.) at any given moment. I find solace in thinking/writing about familiar things :)

Madame: very witchy woman, she's inspirated by forest witch aesthetics...the Slavic unsettling ones. Her personality is like a mush of Alastor from Hazbin Hotel, Hannibal and Nellie from Sweeney Todd

Doctor Nana: both Nana and Madame's core is basically cannibal core (only literally for Madame tho). Nana was made because I needed to channel my girlhood feelings of love that only young adult girls and clinically insane people can understand. She's the embodiment of "I love you so much I'll devour you, bones and all". Oh also by the Dismemberment song.

Zarr: his demeanor and speech patterns are basically my own dad + my friend's dad (I'm being fr), he leans into the stereotypical Slavic dad TM, only more open-minded. Also Red Foreman from the 70s show.

Zee/Marina: she would fit into Trainspotting (movie) so well - she was created before I even watched it but damn if she isn't Mark Renton I don't know who she is. She's also giving Velma from Starkid Scooby-doo parody (solve it squad) and Yura from Parties are for losers.

Haru and Kano: their dynamic is inspired by boy friendships around me. Most of the conversations they have are convos I've heard teen boys having on the bus from school. I shall not elaborate further u can figure it out

The Obi gang: their childhood experiences and dynamics are based on mine and my friends own childhoods - VERY Slavic core.
