Fanon likes to portray Jiang Cheng and Lan Wangji as being jealous of each other because they fear wei wuxian will choose one of them over the other. Which is ignoring the fact that at least in novel canon Jiang Cheng did not even fucking know wangxian ever got along let alone that lwj was in love with wwx until at the very end of the story (in cql canon he does go through a wangxian phase early on and gets very confused by their "breakup" during wwx's sunshot era) and that Lan Wangji is mostly filled with loathing towards both himself and Jiang Cheng for 'abandoning' Wei Wuxian and not being able to save him.

It also ignores the much bigger point that both Lan Wangji and Jiang Cheng are actually jealous of Wen Ning. And why wouldn't they be? That is who Wei Wuxian chose in his first life. He left the Jiang, told Lan Wangji to fuck off no he is not coming to gusu with you, and spent his days with his little-brother-shaped corpse bestie on his mountain in yiling. And then when he came back he immediately called him up the second he could string together more than two notes on a flute. Wen Ning is the real competition. (And he's winning)

gojo is literally so clingy in the mornings, he will pull you back into bed once you try to get up. he will bury his face in the crook of your neck, murmuring that it’s too early. and he’ll make you stay there for an extra hour just cuddling if he can (and it doesn’t help when you feel a bulge rub against your ass).

geto isn’t clingy in the same way gojo is. instead he tends to settle for touches, but it’s all the time — an arm around your waist, a kiss to your forehead, laced fingers, a leg thrown over his, a hand resting on your thigh. even in the mornings, if you wake before him, he finds his way to you and wraps his arms around you, fingers taking over your task as he’s content just having his arms around you.

I really like the idea that McCoy's ex wife is Vulcan, so their daughter is half Vulcan. It informs so much of McCoy's behaviour to me.

I like to think his ex is not very into Vulcan culture. She's keeps some of it up, but this is a woman who chose to marry a bumpkin doctor and move to small town Earth. She's not big on the Vulcan stuff. Like, her name is T'Mari or something, but she just goes by Mary. They names their daughter Jo'hana so Mary's parents could pronounce it, but they just say Johanna. Or Jo.

So McCoy is already an expert at half Vulcan physiology, he's just learning the adult male stuff for the first time. And any Spock specific quirks. And he knows his ex, Mary, showed more emotion than Spock ever does so all Spock's arguments about being Vulcan are unconvincing. Of course, Mary mainly showed anger at the tail end of things, but hey. And he really knows what Jo's grin looks like so he knows it won't hurt Spock to smile occasionally

Of course, McCoy is fully forgetting that Spock is an adult and likes Vulcan culture in a way Mary never did and it's fucking up to him what he does. But I think this dynamic gives McCoy good cause to think he knows better (even if he's wrong). And it removes the humans as default attitude McCoy sometimes has

I especially like the idea that McCoy never mentions it cos a. Doesn't like to talk about his ex and b. It's weird to describe your daughter's medical shit in conversation. So one day Spock meets them and is just standing there like whaaat the fuuuck. What the fuck. Whatthefuck.

Thinking about how everything I personally create and any commentary on or experience I have with a piece of media will intrinsically be in conversation with Homestuck in a fundamental way that will be entirety incomprehensible to anyone who wasn't on the MSPA forums from like 2012—2014.

Very wistful about that. It's like a cultural mindset. Calling Homestuck "influencial" on how I create and interact with media is like saying that the Biblical canon was "influencial" on European history and culture. Homestuck was my culture. It was omnipresent and foundational to every artistic sensibility I developed as a teenager and young adult.

And yet if ever something I wrote got famous I feel like even if a team of literary analysts pored over it and added meticulous footnotes I feel like there'd be stuff that would be incommunicable in the true visceral sense because of lack of personal exposure to the Homestuck zeitgeist and the nuances of its symbolic and thematic vibes when it was still super huge.

Or maybe I'm underestimating the degree to which others can grok foreign context, but it's for sure something most people will miss when just, talking to me. And I spent so many years assuming other people I spoke to had that same experience that sometimes even now I forget most people don't share it.
