to expand, it makes me sad that altering your appearance is not just normal but almost an expectation in many social circles and careers! especially for women, but it’s becoming increasingly popular for men, too. i just think yes people can do whatever they want, but the explosion in cosmetic procedures in the past 15 years — and on younger people than ever before — is worrisome. i am NOT talking about gender-affirming care. fuck people who use this as an excuse for transphobia, terfs can stay the fuck away from my blog please. (and the vast majority of these are not of people with gender dysphoria; it’s to do with social media and i’m sure there will be a selfie filter dysphoria diagnosis and i am not kidding, it’s fucking bleak.)

but i am talking about an inability to look at ugliness or perceived ugliness (which is often just… not like a snapchat filter?) and more often than not, normal signs of aging. the pressure to look the same as you did when you were 25 (at the oldest!!) for all time. i’m not saying, again, that there should be no cosmetic procedures. do what you fucking want. but it’s sad and shouldn’t be a requirement to be an a-lister.
