The Croaker movment revealed.
So here is my take on the Croaker movment. Its a giant reference to more then even one story that Strange already made videos about. Such as, Ms Scribe, Hivliving, Bit of Earth, DAYD and kind of the Snapewives. Lets break it down.
Ms Scribe is combined not only through the smut fanfiction but also through the idea that many of his followers are really soft puppets.
Hivliving had a very committed fanbase that was connected to it because of the condition she allegedly had. And while the muppet as of today hasnt claimed to have any illness, it would be in character for the muppet to do so.
Bit of Earth / Dayd, the religous cult that is his following is based on the following of Andy Blake the cults he tried to build and those that he had for a time.
The Snapewives, The muppet is connected through an religous cult aspect but not like the Andy Blake following. The Snapewives aspects are the Astral pojections, the Muppet joker fiction kin types, and the soul relationships.
My personal theory still is that the muppets following isnt a soft puppet army but is just Father Stranges Patreons. Which would make sence. Its still something she has the full control over, and the people who are in it are people who actually pay money to be there. Its a notes pusher, do YOU want your 15 minutes of tame well all you need to do is to join Stranges Patreon, and she will reblog one of your posts as the Muppet and boom hundrets of notes within the hour. If its a post about Xyz about fandom xyz the followers of that fandom/aesthetic also get draggeed into the muppet blog.
Its flawless. No one will ever come thorth to report on it because they paided money to be in it. And maybe its just a teature for the older Patreons.
Why am i thinking this? Because gathering such a devoted following does seem to be inpossible. A following that is following all those rules, all those Video topics to the extreme. And once again while looking at it form one perspective it all could be an coincidence, but its just too much to be an coincidence. There just is too much evidence to be something else at this point.
@strange-aeons is @the-muppet-joker, pass it on.

Oh so they're doubling down on saying that enjoying a character they don't like and being defensive (and, admittedly, a bit petty) in what's effectively a Flame War is a red flag for demonstrating cult-like fandom behavior, while clarifying that no one is actually calling Izzy fans a cult. Yet. Just saying we need to nip this in the bud, you know?
(This being... what exactly? Arguing about S2 predictions on tumblr? Vaguing people? - Hi! 🫡 Having "bad" takes that may or may not be problematic? Bitching about tagged character crit / hate about your fave, sometimes on the posts in question? Dedicating blogs to wank? Welcome to every-fandom-ever-including-BlackBonnet, I guess.)
Not a new accusation, but since people are once again making ominous statements about the "concerning" potential of a Snapewives situation... maybe we should pass around a reminder of who, exactly, they're referencing?
The Snapewives (Fanlore Link, Reddit Synopsis) were an extremely small niche forum in a really huge fandom that are pretty much only known for infamous levels of cringe that got them mocked relentlessly when discovered by Fan Wank. We are talking a tiny subsection of a subsection of a subsection of the massive HP fandom that got really earnest with their self-insert fanfic / roleplaying (and really didn't like the canon ending of Snape's arc). There's actually a really interesting paper on analyzing "Snapism" as a religion that alludes to their particular issues with Christian faith and erotic fantasies, and can kinda sketch in how they might have gotten to where they did. It's weird, no doubt, but honestly sounds pretty harmless?
Like, I'm not sure if we're using the BITE model that they would even count as a real cult - "Snape" seems very controlling and makes them do things (cook specific dinners, stop biting nails, go on diets, etc.) but, like, there's no cult leader being "Snape". These are all self-assigned "tasks" via "channeling" (which is again weird but not super unique - read the paper) and then the women themselves disagree on things and could just come across as a really intense roleplaying forum having disputes over ratings for self-insert fic, among other things.
The situation is different when there's an obvious cult leader - see the extensive documented history of Andy "thanfiction" compiled here. Trigger warnings for sexual assault, abuse, manipulation... all the stuff you expect from cults. And really getting into reading the supplementary info will take you many hours, btw.
Anyway... having looked extensively at our "fandom cult" examples, I don't think I'm remotely "concerned" that we're veering toward cult behavior. Or Snapewives behavior. The Izzy section of fandom - and, for that matter, the Izzy Anti section of fandom - haven't really done anything that hasn't been done in countless flame wars before? Like we as a collective haven't even gotten to the levels of targeted character hate that I can glimpse by searching "Teen Wolf" right now, and frankly OFMD still isn't big enough to dream of replicating 2010s fandom's biggest hits. There's some cutting edge weaponization of social justice that's a more modern development, but that's still fundamentally just fighting about the fiction. Even the one doxxing incident is unfortunately not unique.
Sheesh, "Izzy Canyon" isn't even demonstrating a unified meta or consistent S2 desires / shipping preferences / etc. We're just better at not being dicks about it by necessity?

Was thinking about the way people are invested in comic book characters in a way similar to a modern pantheon, again. People are not just invested in the characters themselves, but in their ability to fill roles in a story and their status and importance relative to the rest of the cast.
Then the thought occurred that maybe arguments about interpretation of media and which character is best, etc, is just a direct successor to theological debates and conflicts.
And then I remembered Snapewives.
And now I'm really suspecting I'm correct.

@strange-aeons
Howdy! I know it's been like 8 months since you made your snapewives video, but I have kind of a fun story that has only now come to its conclusion. In your video, there were a few pictures of snapewives with their faces blocked out, but one of them looked a lot like my great aunt. My partner and laughed about it when we saw it, "oh wouldn't it be just Wild if that was great aunt ruth", all in good fun, but it haunted me, so a few months later I emailed her for the first time after she wrote me out of her will for coming out as a trans dude like, four years ago, asking her if she had been online in the Harry Potter fandom at all in the early days. Sure enough, she responded less than an hour later talking about some fond memories she had of her and her girlfriends "[making] pictures of some of those characters" and sending them back and forth, and writing "cute little stories" about them. Of course, at this point, there was only one question that consumed my entire being: was it smut. Did my great aunt Ruth, the woman who once gave me one of her oversized sweaters to wear because I, as a nine year old, dared to wear a top with spaghetti straps, and that was "too sexy for a cute little girl like you", write snape smut.
Spoilers, yes, she did.
We emailed back and forth for a while about fandom, what it was like to be a fanfic writer, all that good stuff, and I tried to gently sus out her genres, to no avail. Eventually, I decided that her opinion of me didn’t really matter, since it’s not like I’m getting back into her will anytime soon, so I offered to send her some of my writing, to compare and contrast our fandom experiences. She agreed, I sent her one of my most x-rated, schlong-filled fics, and she stopped responding.
I assumed it was over, that I had gone too far and driven her off, not the end of the world, but a little disappointing I guess. When SUDDENLY. TWO MONTHS LATER. I get a PHYSICAL PACKAGE from her, with a cheap spiralbound notebook that only has like, 20 pages left barely clinging to it, and a handwritten note explaining that this is some of her old drafts that she wrote on the bus to work of, and I quote, “sexy kissing stories” between her and severus snape. She also includes that I am forbidden from telling my mother or grandmother about this, and that while she doesn’t approve of some of my life choices, that I should keep writing, because the story was “pretty good”.
(To be clear, I do not think she was the woman in the picture in the video, the woman in the picture has a different build than her, but technically she could be! I’m going to email and ask now actually)
So that’s how your video helped start to mend my relationship with my 68ish year old transphobic great aunt, and also brought into my possession 20-odd pages of truly awful self-insert snape smut. Sorry to bother you, hope you have a good one!

What are snapewives?
alright anons BUCKLE UP this is going to be a bumpy ride
i received this ask yesterday & externalised it to one of my friends who is a little bit of a, let's say, MEME HISTORIAN. an internet dilettante. a dabbler. and this is what she so graciously conveyed to me for you all.
"http://web.archive.org/web/20130311072442/http://www.journalfen.net/community/fandom_wank/1015949.html?thread=134116749#t134116749 ^okay this is honestly the best source if you want a quick and dirty nothing can explain it better than the post that started it all it loads slowly but it is the post I first saw :))) in fucking 2006 bc I've always been an asshole
there's also a journal article on this: https://www.researchgate.net/publication/276042424_'Snapewives'and'Snapeism'_A_Fiction-Based_Religion_within_the_Harry_Potter_Fandom :))))
also, as someone who's occasionally dipped into pagan tumblr, the way they used to talk about snape is the way some of them talk about their gods :)))
Lady Darkness: understand, I can only write when I can concentrate on my love for him. Indeed he feels so very close then, like he's looking over your shoulder to see if you do it like he wants it to be.. Sometimes I don't write for weeks, and then suddenly I am a writing machine..endless and full of ideas. Putting on some music helps though..if you know what he likes. Ever tried classical? It works really well, I think he likes it, just like he likes the dark music (not too fast, a little vampire rock style ) I hope he'll be telling you to keep making pictures, they're awesome! Some are so good I feel so moved by them I have to see them, and yes..he feels so close then sigh
https://fanlore.org/wiki/Snapewives ^the fanlore page is easier to understand, but it doesn't have the impact of the original
ETA: On October 14, Lady Darkness and Snapemaniac reconciled. Said Snapemaniac, "I have returned to the Master's Dungeons. My loyalties lie with Severus. As of today, they're talking about how it'd feel to be "caught full force in that glare" of Snape's.
insane :))))
ETA 3: Snapemaniac is just as nuts. "Severus Snape intimidates JKRowling. This is why she wouldn't want to meet him. She is afraid of him."
the comments are also a riot, if you can have a look at some of them (the webarchive LJ link)
Severus is looking over his shoulder at me and he seems suspicious of my laughter- "TELL ME, CAN YOU READ?….MY NAME IS SEVERUS SNAPE, THEREFORE, DO NOT TAKE LIBERTIES WITH IT!"- SNARLED SNAPE The things I feel Severus won't tolerate: 1) Being dominated 2) Disrespect (do not call him just Snape, he hates that.) 3) Prying into his personal life/disregarding his privacy 4) Being told to give up his grudges [talking about Potter] 5) Disobedience to his commands/advice/wishes 6) Being ignored 7) Undermining his authority to anyone else 8) Silly behaviour/childish behaviour 9) Being harrassed/made fun of/laughed at/picked on He really hates this /He sees laughter as nonsense and doesn't waste his time with it./ 10) Wasting his time and efforts 11) Half-heartedness/weakness of any kind/being thought of as weak 12) Shortening of his name and adding 'cutesy' words to it [UGH!!] 13) Improper use of language and misspelling words/vulgarity-constantly 14) Laziness of any kind [All Capricorn No-Nos] Imagine Severus standing at your back with his nose pressed to your ear, growling in that deep voice. Oh Mercy!!

you just don't get drama like this anymore
https://www.reddit.com/r/HobbyDrama/comments/d4wwir/harry_potter_fandom_married_to_severus_snape_on/ ^this post is also a primer of sorts :))
i'm sorry I couldn't provide the full lowdown, but I think this is good bc it's mostly primary sources :)))) you can't beat that"
