Super fluffy Prompt:
Beca gets caught by Chloe dancing at the Bella house with headphones in when she thinks she alone. But dancing like Elliot Page from Umbrella Academy in this scene: https://youtu.be/TVxBmXz5QGs
After years of pining, Chloe takes this dorky adorable moment she catches Beca in to finally tell her how she feels and kiss her.

As much as Chloe absolutely adores Barden University—and even more so the comfortable home she shares with her fellow Bellas—she will normally take any chance she gets to go back to Portland. She loves her Barden family beyond measure, of course she does, but spending time with her actual family is incredibly important to her, too.
So, the very last minute decision Chloe had made to stay in Georgia over break feels entirely uncharacteristic to her and, frankly, maybe even a little bit weird, but financially it had just made the most sense—her parents are funding her extra school years already, accepting money for constant travel always feels like too much; she wants to give them a break.
Besides, it is not like she is going to be spending the entire two weeks here alone; Beca rarely leaves for breaks. She will simply show her face at her father’s place every now and then, and that will be enough.
Not that that had any impact on Chloe’s decision to stay whatsoever, of course…
Fortunately, despite the fact that she cannot actually be there with her parents in person, she has the magic of FaceTime to see her through, and Chloe has shut herself away for the afternoon to spend virtual time with her family, while Beca does whatever it is she may be doing in her attic bedroom.
That had been the plan anyway. Barely five minutes into the video call, however, and the connection had begun to lag before finally cutting out altogether, and Chloe is left to stare, hands cradling her chin, at the blank screen of her laptop with an entirely perplexed look pulling onto her pale features.
“Again?” Chloe murmurs under her breath, a quick glance to her phone screen telling her that the WiFi icon is not displayed there anymore, either.
Technology is not really Chloe’s area of expertise, but fortunately for her, there is someone else in the house who has a way better grasp on that particular area, so following another failed attempt at reconnecting, Chloe pushes herself back from her small desk with a soft huff, then floats lazily from the room in pursuit of a little help.
The Bellas’ house is not exactly huge, but rather than simply call out to Beca, Chloe swiftly makes her way toward the attic, focus preoccupied for now with her failed attempt to fix the WiFi setting on her phone.
“Bec, is the internet working for you?” Chloe mumbles distractedly, only glancing upward from her screen when she doesn’t receive an immediate response. She trails off slowly at the scene before her, however.
Her brows lift as she takes in the from-the-back view of a very much in the zone Beca Mitchell, wireless Beats headphones positioned over her ears, and body moving in a way that Chloe thinks might be...dancing? It is a very loose depiction of the term dance, of course; Beca’s limbs move somewhat sluggishly, and Chloe thinks that she should probably back away, leave Beca to have her moment alone, but it is impossible for Chloe to tear her widened stare from Beca’s movements, especially as the energy of whatever song she may be listening to seems to pick up, with her loosely moving body effectively doing the same.
And no, Beca really is not the reason Chloe had stayed here during break—not the whole reason, anyway—but God, she is so glad she did… Because this is the person Chloe has been quietly pining over for years now, the person who causes Chloe’s heart rate to quicken and a host of lively butterflies to begin flapping in her stomach as she watches her simply being her normal, dorky, adorable self. She cannot help the way she stares now, the way she drinks in this very moment and allows it to consume her in a way that the music seems to be consuming Beca, too.
She means to leave before Beca sees her, to keep this particular instance to herself in the interest of not completely embarrassing Beca, but she turns before Chloe gets the chance to even attempt to move, and while Beca pauses instantly, pale cheeks flushing a deep crimson shade as her widened eyes lock with Chloe’s, all Chloe can do is suck in her bottom lip in a meager attempt to bite back her adoring grin.
“Chlo, uh,” Beca tries, hands grasping at the cups of her headphones to quickly tug them away from her ears and to instead settle the band loosely around her neck. “I was just, uh—”
“You’re so adorable, Bec,” Chloe says in a much softer, much more affectionate tone than she really means to.
“What? No, I…” Beca’s voice is a little panicked at first, though she cuts herself off with a petulant whine, hands lifting to quickly cover her face. Her words come out muffled by the barrier. “Dude, can we just pretend you didn’t see that?”
It is really not unusual for Chloe to dish out physical affection, so although Beca stiffens slightly as long fingers wrap loosely around her wrists to gently pull her hands away from her face, she doesn’t actually stop her. She just stares at her with flushed cheeks and pleading eyes, before repeating, “Can we just—”
She doesn’t get the chance to finish, though. It is without proper thought nor even much warning, save for a drop of her eyes toward Beca’s mouth, that Chloe leans forward to brush a small, slow peck to Beca’s lips.
While Beca freezes at first, it is only for the briefest second, before Chloe feels the way soft lips push back against her own in a way that causes her entire body to melt. It is like years of tension, of fruitless pining and unspoken desires pour out into that one small touch, and Chloe pulls back to take in Beca’s surprised expression with her teeth resting delicately over her bottom lip.
“Um…” Beca begins quietly, arms relaxing in Chloe’s gentle grasp. “Wow, okay,” she chuckles somewhat bashfully, wide gaze darting away from Chloe’s, though it seems she struggles to keep it from drifting right back. “What was that?”
Chloe responds with an uncharacteristically bashful look, though the corners of her lips are curved into a soft smile all the same. “I’m sorry, I probably should’ve given you a little more warning,” she admits, nose scrunching apologetically. “You’re just...really cute, Bec. And I’ve kind of been wanting to do that for a really long time, so when I came in here and saw you doing whatever you were just doing, I just couldn’t resist.”
Although Beca still looks mildly surprised, Chloe is almost positive she sees the threat of a smile dancing on her lips now, too.
“Is...that okay?” Chloe questions almost cautiously, softened eyes studying Beca’s face in an effort to find any clues of her wanting to run.
In response, Beca seems a little shaky, but she proceeds to shortly nod her head, and Chloe’s heartbeat picks up in that distinct way only Beca Mitchell can ever truly cause. “Yeah, it’s okay,” Beca promises, tongue flickering out to lick over her dry lips. Her darkened cheeks redden further. “Uh, I might’ve been waiting for you to do that for a while, too.”
“Really?” Chloe’s brows raise at that, though it is definitely in pleasant surprise.
“Mhm,” Beca nods, lips pulling inward as her gaze drops briefly to Chloe’s mouth. She pauses then, stare narrowing in as it lifts upward once more. “Wait, what do you mean whatever I was doing? I was dancing.”
Chloe cannot help her amused chuckle in response. “Mm, yeah, I saw that…” she nods, fingers finally unwrapping from around Beca’s wrists to exaggeratedly flail her arms in a contrived mimic of Beca’s movements.
“Dude, shut up,” Beca whines, though there is amusement lacing her tone despite the fact that her head tips back in embarrassment.
Honestly, if the dancing is the only thing Beca has to complain about in regards to these last few moments, Chloe will absolutely consider that a success.

25 Days of BeChloe Christmases - 2020
Day 11 - Thank You, David Guetta
Prompt from Tumblr user Anonymous: Beca meets one of her biggest inspirations, David Guetta. She fangirls and insists on thanking him b/c if it wasn't for him she never would've met the love of her life, Chloe. I made a minor change in the prompt; I hope you like what I did with it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Chloe! Are you home?" Beca called out as she entered the house she shared with her girlfriend, Chloe. "Chloe!"
No answer. Beca pulled out her phone and flopped down on the couch.
LoveOfMyLife: Where are you? I got some awesome news today and can't wait to tell you about it.
Beca sent the text off and threw her phone down next to her. Beca heard a noise and looked down at her phone, only to realize the sound was Chloe's key being inserted in the door. Beca jumped up and ran to the door.
"Hey, babe," Chloe called out, stopping short when she almost ran into Beca who was standing right in front of her. "Oh, I just saw your text. What's the good news?"
"Not just good news," Beca said. "Awesome news."
"Okay," Chloe said, chuckling. "What's your awesome news?"
"First things first," Beca said, pulling Chloe to her.
Beca kissed Chloe and Chloe kissed her back.
"Thanks for that," Chloe said. "What's your news?"
"Guess where we're going to be on Christmas Day night?"
"Um, at Aubrey's with the Bellas?"
"What? Noooo," Beca whined. "I mean we'll be with them for most of the afternoon. And we'll be leaving early to go to, are you ready for this? 'Cause, it's huge!"
Chloe walked over and sat on the sofa as she laughed at Beca's excitement. "I'm ready for it. Tell me where we're going to be."
"We, as in you and I," Beca said, joining Chloe on the sofa. "Are going to be at a special Awards Dinner for David Guetta."
"David Guetta?" Chloe squealed. "Is this for real?"
"Yes," Beca said. "David Guetta is getting some kind of special award. Theo and Khaled asked me to represent the studio since they'll both be out of town for Christmas."
"I'm so happy for you, babe," Chloe said, kissing Beca's cheek. "I know how much you admire David Guetta and how big an influence he was in you getting into music."
"I can't wait to meet him," Beca said. "It's like a dream come true."
"I can't wait to see you fangirl when you do meet him," Chloe said, laughing.
"I do not fangirl," Beca said, looking shocked.
"Yeah, you kinda do," Chloe said, pulling Beca into a kiss. "You get all awkward and say awkward things. But, that's okay. I think you're adorable when you're awkward."
~~ Day 11 of the 25 Days of BeChloe Christmases - 2020 ~~
Three weeks later on Christmas morning, Beca and Chloe sitting around with the Bellas at Aubrey and Stacie's. The friends enjoyed watching Stacie's daughter, Bella, open her gifts.
The Bellas had finished exchanging and opening their gifts when Beca leaned over to Chloe and whispered, "Are you ready to go? Our glam team should be at our place soon."
"I'm ready," Chloe said. "I need to say goodbye to Brey and Stacie."
"Let's do it," Beca said, standing and holding out her hand to Chloe.
"Sorry, guys, but we have to go," Chloe said to the group.
"Aww, can't you stay longer?" Emily asked.
"I wish we could," Beca said. "But, we have to get ready for the Awards Dinner."
"Brey, thanks to you and Stacie for hosting," Chloe said, wrapping her best friend in a hug.
"I'm just glad you two could still come," Aubrey said. "I know how much you were looking forward to attending this dinner."
"And meeting David Guetta," Stacie added.
"Damn straight," Beca said, smiling brightly.
"We'll see the rest of you later," Chloe said to the rest of the group.
After more hugs, goodbyes, and see you laters, Beca and Chloe left.
~~ Day 11 of the 25 Days of BeChloe Christmases - 2020 ~~
Beca and Chloe were ready and their limo was waiting outside.
"Let's go, Becs," Chloe called from the front door.
"I forgot my lipstick," Beca called out as she hurried up the stairs.
About a minute later, Beca was coming back down the stairs.
"Let's do this," Beca said and she took Chloe's hand and walked out the door.
It was a short drive to the venue and the limo queued up to drop Beca and Chloe at the red carpet.
"I didn't know this was going to be such a big deal," Chloe said as they waited their turn to exit their limo.
"I don't think it is usually," Beca said, looking out the limo window at the crowd. "But, I think David Guetta and Beyonce might have something to do with the crowd."
"Beyonce is going to be here?" Chloe asked.
"So, I've been told," Beca said. "I don't think she's performing though."
"Who is performing?" Chloe asked. "I mean besides David Guetta."
"I don't know," Beca said. " Everything's been kind of hush-hush."
The limo pulled up to the red carpet and the limo door was opened. Beca got out first and reached out her hand to help Chloe exit.
The paparazzi were ready for them and flashes started going off, temporarily blinding them.
"Just keep hold of my hand," Beca whispered to Chloe.
A photographer would yell out, "Beca! Over here!" and Beca and Chloe would stop and pose for photos before moving on.
The couple finally made it inside and are shown to their table.
"Beca, there's David Guetta," Chloe said, pointing at the man sitting at the table they were being led to. "We're sitting with David Guetta."
"I see," Beca said, as they reached the table.
"Why aren't you freaking out?" Chloe asked. "We're sitting at the same table as your idol, THE David Guetta."
"Beca, it's good to see you again," David Guetta said, standing as he spoke.
"Again?" Chloe asked, looking at Beca with an arched brow.
"Yeah," Beca said. "We met at the studio last week. He's friends with Khaled."
"And you must be Chloe," David asked. "I've heard a lot about you."
"David Guetta," Beca said. "I'd like you to meet my girlfriend, Chloe Beale. Chloe, this is David Guetta."
"It's an honor to meet you, Mr. Guetta," Chloe said.
"It's nice to meet you, Chloe," David said. "And, please call me David."
Beca pulled out Chloe's chair and Chloe sat down.
"Thanks, babe," Chloe whispered.
Beca took the seat next to her and Chloe looked over at David.
"So, David," Chloe said. "Beca didn't tell me she already met you at Khaled's studio. Did she fangirl over you?"
"Chloe!" Beca squealed, blushing as she looked over at David.
"She did somewhat," David said, grinning at Beca. "It was actually cute and endearing. Although, she did tell me I smelled like cookies, which I found a little odd."
"Cookies?" Chloe asked, laughing.
"Yeah," David said, laughing as well. "I'm still not sure how what she meant by it."
"I don't know what I meant by it either," Beca said, her cheeks red.
"What else did she say?" Chloe asked, putting her elbow on the table and resting her chin in her hand.
"I don't know if I should tell you this part.," David said. "Mainly, because I'm not sure I believe it actually happened.
"Go ahead and tell," Chloe said. "We're all friends now."
"Did you really barge into her shower to make her sing Titanium with you?"
"Oh, my God," Chloe said, covering her face with her hands. "I can't believe she told you that."
"So, it did happen," David said, laughing at how bright Beca's cheeks were.
"Sorry, babe," Beca said. "I just wanted him to know how special you are to me."
"Again, I thought it was both funny and adorable," David said, chuckling. "I tried to convince Beca to sing Titanium tonight, but she had a different song in mind."
"You're performing tonight?!" Chloe yelled, slapping Beca on the arm. "Why didn't you tell me?"
"Ow," Beca said, rubbing her arm. She turned and glared at David. "It was supposed to be a surprise."
"Sorry," David said, putting up his hands in surrender. "My apologies for ruining your surprise."
"It's okay, dude," Beca said. "You're David Guetta, and I can forgive you this one transgression. You are the sole reason I wanted to become a music producer. Being a singed just kind of happened."
"I do recall you mentioning that when we met," David said. "Besides, I didn't tell her about-"
Beca's hand shot up and covered David's mouth.
"Dude, seriously," Beca said. "You promised you wouldn't say anything to Chloe about that."
"About what, Becs," Chloe asked, leaning over to whisper in Beca's ear. "What are you hiding from me?"
A shiver ran down Beca's spine as Chloe's breath caressed her neck just below her ear.
"Surprise, remember?" Beca managed to squeak out.
Chloe blew softly in Beca's ear, causing another shiver to run through her.
"Okay, okay," Beca said. "I'll tell you. David and I are talking about collaborating on a few songs together."
"Oh, my God, Beca," Chloe said, pulling Beca into a side hug. "That's huge news. I'm so proud of you."
Chloe turned Beca's head toward her and gave her a quick kiss.
"It's still in the early talking stage," Beca said, looking at David Guetta. "But, hopefully, after the first of the year, we'll be able to put some time aside to start working on it."
"I'm looking forward to it," David said. "Beca's very talented and has a good ear. I foresee some really great work in our future."
Servers began coming out to place salads in front of the guests. The wine was poured and drank. The conversation continued and everyone was enjoying themselves. The main course was served, and then finally, dessert.
After the guests had finished dessert, it was time for the entertainment portion of the evening.
Beca whispered in Chloe's ear, "I need to use the restroom. I'll be back shortly."
"I'll go with you," Chloe said and started to rise.
"No," Beca said quickly, pushing Chloe back into her seat. "I don't want you to miss any of the show."
"Oh, okay," Chloe said and settled back in her seat.
Ryan Seacrest was emceeing the event and walked out onto the stage as he was being introduced.
"Ladies and gentleman, our first performer really needs no introduction," Ryan said, looking out at the assembled guests. "She first came on the scene two years ago and has made quite the impression on, well, just about everyone. And, I'm told she has a special surprise in store for you. Ladies and gentleman, Beca Mitchell!"
"Beca's singing first?" Chloe asked, looking at David Guetta. "I wonder what the surprise is."
David smiled and nodded. "Just watch and listen."
Chloe smiled and turned back to watch Beca, who was now standing in the middle of the stage.
"I would like to thank David Guetta for asking me to perform tonight," Beca said into her microphone as she looked over to their table. "I'd also like to thank him for the song Titanium because that song helped me meet the love of my life."
Beca paused and smiled over at Chloe. "And, lastly, I'd like to thank him for giving me permission to do what I'm about to do."
Music started playing and Beca looked Chloe in the eyes as she started singing.
I've got sunshine on a cloudy day When it's cold outside I've got the month of May Well I guess you'd say What can make me feel this way? My girl (my girl, my girl) Talkin' 'bout my girl (my girl)
I've got so much honey the bees envy me I've got a sweeter song than the birds in the trees Well I guess you'd say What can make me feel this way? My girl (my girl, my girl) Talkin' 'bout my girl (my girl), ooh
Hey, hey, hey Hey, hey, hey Ooh, yeah
As she sang, Beca walked to the stairs and down onto the floor. She continued singing as she made her way over to Chloe.
I don't need no money, fortune, or fame (ooh, hey, hey, hey) I've got all the riches baby one girl can claim (oh, yes I do) I guess you'd say What can make me feel this way? My girl (my girl, my girl) Talkin' 'bout my girl (my girl)
I've got sunshine on a cloudy day With my girl (my girl) (Talkin' 'bout my girl, my girl) I've even got the month of May With my girl (my girl, whoa)
She's all I can think (my girl) (Talkin' 'bout my girl, my girl) Talkin' 'bout, talkin' 'bout my girl (my girl, whoa)
The crowd started applauding and jumped to their feet. Beca took Chloe's hand and knelt down before her. Everyone got quiet and a few oohs and awws could be heard.
Chloe's hand covered her mouth in surprise.
Beca put the microphone to her mouth. "Chloe, I love you so much and I fall in love with you more and more every day. I sometimes wake up in the morning and have to pinch myself when I see you lying next to me, just to make sure I'm not dreaming and that you're real. What I'm trying to say is, I love you, Chlo, will you marry me?"
Beca held up a ring box she had in her pocket. Chloe wiped at her tears.
"Yes," Chloe finally said, leaning over to place her hands on Beca's face. "I love you."
Beca smiled and closed the distance to kiss Chloe. She then stood, pulling Chloe up with her.
"She said, Yes!" Beca announced pulling Chloe to her for another kiss.
David Guetta and everyone applauded the newly engaged couple.

Or...
Beca lets out an exaggerated sigh as she kicks the door shut with her foot, immediately dropping her bag close by and flopping down onto the poorly made fold out couch that her and Chloe share in the small Brooklyn apartment.
Thank god it’s Friday, she thinks when pulling her phone out of the back pocket of her skinny jeans and rolling herself onto her back. 4:45 pm. Chloe will be home in half an hour, depending on how quickly she gets out of work to manage to catch the 5:05 train. Not that Beca memorized Chloe’s schedule and always waits for the older girl to arrive home... Not at all.
She sits herself up with another slightly dramatic sigh. She shouldn’t be this exhausted from work, mentally and physically. She enjoys her job, most of the time. She should be happy that she’s living her dream, producing music and doing what she loves while also getting paid. But, the number of imbeciles she has to deal with on a weekly basis often makes her wonder why she ever wanted to do this in the first place.
All she really looks forward after a long day of work is coming home to her best friend every night and cuddling up on their bed with snacks and her laptop, to watch whatever tv show or movie Chloe decided they have to see. Yeah, Chloe may have broken down a couple of Beca’s walls with her overly affectionate personality, she was also really hard to say no to. Especially since Beca has had feelings for the other girl for as long as she can remember, though she refused to admit it to herself for a while. It is easier to deal with now, the whole pining over your best friend/roommate wasn’t the hardest thing ever. She would never risk her friendship with Chloe because of some silly feelings, feelings that may have slowly turned into realizing she was in love with her. Who wouldn’t be totally head over heels for that girl? If her looks aren’t already enough; bright, gorgeous, bluer than the sky eyes that are full of hope and happiness, her smile that never fails to make Beca’s heart beat a little faster every time and let’s not even get started on her adorable giggle. It’s her gentle, dorky and bubbly personality that could light up a dark room. Her determination and passion, her love for the Bellas, her ability to see and appreciate the good in even the smallest things in life.
There are too many reasons to count why Chloe Beale is one of the most genuine and beautiful people Beca has ever had the pleasure of knowing… Actually, she is the most genuine and beautiful person Beca has ever known.
So, aside from the underlying feelings for her best friend that she neatly hides under a rug, Beca loves living with her. She is tidy, she gives Beca space to go into her anti-social bubble whenever needed, she makes her coffee every morning because Beca still hasn’t figured out how to use the stupid coffee machine even after having it for over a year. The two both genuinely enjoy each other’s company; they go grocery shopping together, they occasionally go out to lunch or dinner on weekends together when they aren’t extremely broke from paying monthly rent, they listen to music and dance stupidly around the tiny apartment. They work really well as a team.
Usually, Beca forgets Amy also lives there too. She’s never really around that much anyway and when she is, it is just to grab a few things, make sly comments here and there about how married Beca and Chloe act before heading off again. Often but not always, coming home in the early hours of the morning– from her weekly boy toy’s house, or from the nightclub.
Beca eventually sits up from her position of laying defeated on the bed and shuffles back to lean against the pillows, resting her phone in her lap. Starting to scroll through the Netflix app to see if anything sparks her eye to suggest to Chloe that they watch for the night, although nothing ever really does and the older of the two always ends up picking something.
She’s only halfway through the ‘Popular on Netflix’ section when the door flings open and Chloe bounces through. “Hey!” she says with a cheerful grin, walking to place her handbag down on the coffee table. “How was your day?” she asks, turning to face the smaller girl after removing her jacket and hanging it up on the back of the door.
“Exhausting,” Beca groans, dropping her phone to lay beside her, “very glad it’s Friday,” running a hand through her hair lazily and continuing, “what about you? Save some more innocent little creatures to live another eventful day in the city of Brooklyn?” she says with a slight smirk.
Chloe lets out a soft giggle as she kicks off her shoes, sitting down on the edge of the bed, “Not today, but I did get to meet this really cute puppy who needed his first vaccinations,” she beams with sparking eyes and a smile before shrugging lightly, “so, I’d say it was a pretty good day.”
“Ah-ha, nothing like a tiny puppy to end the week off,” Beca says with a soft laugh, “wish I had your job sometimes, but then I remember the story of the cow and that thought goes away pretty quickly...”
“Don’t remind me!” Chloe scrunches her nose, shaking her head with another giggle. “Why don’t we do something tonight, you know, to get your mind off of work,” she tilts her head towards the brunette with an empathetic smile.
Beca raises an eyebrow curiously, “Depends on what you have in mind… I was pretty ready to just lay here for the rest of the night and do absolutely nothing.” – And maybe, cuddle just a little… she thinks to herself, refraining from saying it a loud. Chloe doesn’t have to know how much Beca actually does enjoy their cozy cuddling and patiently waits almost every night for the other girl to climb into the bed after her shower, smelling purely of strawberries & cream from her shampoo.
“I mean, that is always fun, and I did find another interesting tv show for us to watch… But, why don’t we go out for some drinks?” Chloe shrugs a shoulder, “Let off some steam, dance it out… Get those delicious, unhealthy but awes burritos afterwards from that place you love down the street…” her lips turning into a small smirk.
Beca hums softly, “I do love those burritos,” pausing for a moment, chewing her bottom lip as she thought about the proposition, “but I don’t know about having to deal with more dicks than I already do at work… With them also being drunk and wild, doesn’t sound like the best way I want to spend my Friday night.”
Chloe pursed her lips with a small understanding nod. “Oh!” –she spins on the bed excitedly to properly face Beca, crossing her legs with a small bounce– “we could go to that groovy place Amy took us once, with the neon signs and yummy cocktails! It’s never usually that busy, that’s why Amy didn’t want to stay there long… Plus, it has that local DJ that you like playing there on Friday nights,” she says with a grin.
“Damn. Cocktails, decent music and burritos… You really make it hard to say no, don’t you?” Beca smirks, watching Chloe doing an adorable little dance, making the bed shake lightly. “Alright, alright. Fine. I guess it wouldn’t be terrible… I do feel like a drink, maybe 10…”
“Yay! Don’t worry, it will be aca-awesome!” teasingly emphasizing on the last word because she knows how much Beca hate the phrases that Chloe and Aubrey still haven’t let die. “I’m gonna have a quick shower and get ready then,” the older girl leaps up from the bed to head towards the shower, stripping her scrubs off on her way and chucking it into the laundry basket close by. Something that had become a reoccurring thing for Chloe to do, she’s seen the confident redhead in underwear or wrapped in a towel more times than she can count.
Beca narrows her eyes, focus gazing down Chloe’s toned back before shaking her head and looking away, glancing down at herself to see if what she is currently wearing is nightclub appropriate. Probably not. She slowly shuffles off the bed to look through her rack of clothes hanging nearby. A different pair of black ripped skinny jeans and a slightly nicer top to match her leather jacket is what she decides on.
Roughly an hour after Chloe gets out of the shower, she’s finally putting on her heels to match her little dark green dress and walking to the mirror to put in her gold hoop earrings. Ruffling long red hair to fall in waves down her shoulders.
Beca raises an eyebrow from where she sits at the coffee table, putting her phone into her jacket pocket. She managed to get changed, freshen up her makeup, pour herself a drink of whiskey & cola and catch up on the rest of her work emails while Chloe was still getting ready. She admires the other girl’s outfit from afar, slowly trailing her eyes over her body and down her tone legs. She does love Chloe in green, it makes her eyes glow even more, if that was even possible, and goes so well with her bright, radiant hair. She sips the last of her drink before clearing her throat, “Finally ready to go, miss?”
Chloe spins around with an enthusiastic nod, “Yep!”, walking over to grab one of her small purses and putting her phone into it. “How do I look?”, she cocks her head to the side with a confident smile.
“Chlo, you know you look great,” Beca says as she stands from her seat, “I like that dress… It’s nice,” she smiles softly, finding it extremely difficult to take her eyes away from the bright ones staring back at her.
“Thanks, Bec,” Chloe’s cheeks blush lightly as she looked down at herself and then back up, “you look great, too… Always.”
Beca shrugs a shoulder, moving to place her empty cup in the sink to break the longing stare happening between them. Chloe really wasn’t shy when it came to eye contact. “I guess we clean up nice,” she says with a smirk as they move towards the front door.
 _____________________
Chloe was right, the club really isn’t that packed, and it’s big enough that even with a few more people, it is still tolerable for Beca. They find a booth to sit in which isn’t far from the bar, so they’re taking it in turns getting the rounds of cocktails, so they don’t lose their seat. The music isn’t too bad either, Beca has a habit of over analyzing others remix choices but, this DJ is pretty good so she can’t complain.
“See, told you this place would be cool!” Chloe nudges the smaller girl’s shoulder as she holds her straw between her fingers, taking a sip from her pineapple and passionfruit cocktail.
Beca’s lips curl into a smile as she glances over to Chloe, “You’re just waiting for me to say it was a good idea, aren’t you?” she says with a soft laugh, “it is pretty cool, though,” she finishes with a shrug. “This cocktail is amazing, too. It doesn’t even taste like alcohol at all“–she stops to take a small sip– “Very deceiving, slightly dangerous. I know there is at least two shots of tequila in it ‘cause I watched him making it.”
Chloe giggles as she shuffles slightly closer into the smaller girls side, “Let me try, I might get that one next,” she reaches over, taking a small sip and then glancing at Beca with wide eyes, “Oh, wow, yeah that is really nice… Try mine! It tastes like sunshine in a glass,” tilting her cocktail towards Beca.
“You are like sunshine in a glass,” Beca says with a soft laugh before taking a sip, nodding her head slowly as she narrowed her eyes, “Mhm, yeah. That’s good shit.”
“You’re good shit,” Chloe replies with another giggle, nudging against Beca’s shoulder again and settling her glass down on the table. “Now… It’s time to dance it out,” she whispers close to the other girl’s ear and then standing up, holding her hand out. Sending shivers up Beca’s spine from the quick closeness.
Beca freezes halfway through sipping her drink, “Oh, no, no. I’m still about two drinks away from that, Beale,” she says with a shake of her head. Mentally trying not to break as Chloe’s lips turn into a small pout.
“C’mon, Bec! I know you can dance! You’ve done it on stage in front of thousands of people,” Chloe argues, emphasizing her pout with a furrow of her brow.
“That’s… Very different. Choreography and lots of practice,” she scoffs back with a laugh. “You go. I’ll watch your drink and keep our super cool, comfy booth company,” Beca grins as her lips try to find her straw again without breaking eye contact with the pouty redhead in front of her.
Chloe lets out a soft huff and softens her expression, “Fine… But you better get your butt off that couch soon. This is just as bad as getting you out of bed in the mornings. Get yourself another drink!”
Beca rolls her eyes and nods, watching Chloe bounce off to the slightly crowded dance floor in front of them and letting her shoulders drop slightly as she leans back, looking down to see how much of her drink was left– only halfway and tequila really did hit her pretty hard. Maybe she only needed one more before she was ready to dance. Again, Chloe is extremely hard to say no to. Plus, she really does want to dance with her best friend, although Chloe’s innocent flirty behavior only gets worse when she has alcohol in her system and Beca finds it harder to deal with every time they drink together. She always has to monitor her own drinking, just in case she did something stupid like accidentally tell Chloe she is hopelessly, pathetically, in love with her.
She looks around her surroundings, the people in here aren’t actually too bad, compared to some of the places Amy has forced the two of them to go to in the past. There are hipsters, other people around their age who seem to be doing the same as them by enjoying the cocktails and some younger girls that appear to just be there to take photos with the neon signs to upload to Instagram.
Beca eventually settles her eyes back on Chloe, a small smile appearing on her face at how freely the redhead is dancing, she really does look majestic and gorgeous without even trying. Her hair flowing down her back as her body moves with the beat of the song, hips shaking from side to side and a drunken smile on her face as she turns to look over to the booth, winking at Beca after noticing that she’s already staring.
Beca gives a shy smile back and recoils slowly further back into the seat, glancing down into her glass as she plays with the ice using her straw. She looks back up about a minute later to see a, frankly, stunning brunette girl dancing near Chloe, seeming to get closer as the song continues. The stranger finally makes her way in front of Chloe, who gives her a friendly smile as she starts to dance with her, the two moving together to the beat. The other girl puts her hands onto Chloe’s hips, whispering something close to her ear. Beca swallows thickly and tries to look anywhere but at them, taking a slightly large gulp out of her drink as she tries to ignore the slight jealousy building up in her slowly.
When she finally glances back at them, it’s just in time to see the brunette moving one of her hands to Chloe’s cheek and leaning in, starting to kiss her and… Chloe actually kisses back. Beca feels her stomach drop like she just went down a giant hill on a rollercoaster. Surely Chloe isn’t that drunk, she’s only about one or two drinks in front of Beca and even drunk, Beca has never witnessed her kiss another girl. Sure, she might have said to her a couple of years ago that she wished she experimented more in College… But she never actually brought it back up again after that, nor did she get anybody else to take her up on the proposal, she definitely would have told her. Beca thought about it a lot after it happened and mentally punched herself a couple of times for not taking Chloe up on the offer or at least exploring what she actually meant by it. Once she actually wanted to confront Chloe, after her and Jesse had broken up, she told herself it had been too long, and it would just be weird to randomly ask about it.
Beca furrows her brow as she glances away with a confused expression, instantly gulping down the rest of her drink and wincing slightly at the burn of tequila at the bottom of the glass. She tries to stop her eyes from glancing back at them but struggles and gives in, immediately regretting it when she sees them still kissing, more so, full on making out now. She puts her drink down on the table and rubs her sweaty palms over her jeans as she stares down into her lap. The feeling in her gut makes her feel sick and she can feel her chest tightening up like she was about to have a panic attack. Stop being stupid, Mitchell. She’s not even yours, she thinks to herself, but it doesn’t stop the lump forming in her throat. She had to get some air. Right now.
She squints, glancing around while trying to avoid the two that she can still obviously see right in front of her and stands up quickly, immediately heading for the exit door, taking a deep breath in once the fresh air hits her. There’s a brick wall to her left that she immediately moves to lean against, closing her eyes as she tries to swallow back the stupid lump in her throat. Her hands patting her jacket pockets anxiously, letting out a small sigh of relief as she retrieves the cigarette packet and lighter– a terrible habit Beca has when she gets too stressed. She lights one up and leans her head back against the wall to look up at the sky.
She has witnessed Chloe kissing other people before, and though it hurts a little every time, it shouldn’t hurt this much. But watching her kiss another girl rattles something inside of Beca that she can’t control. There are a few reasons behind not telling Chloe how she truly feels, aside from potentially ruining their friendship, she’s pretty certain the redhead is completely straight, and her own insecurities convince her that Chloe would never like her in that way.
Taking a drag from the cigarette with shaky hands, she closes her eyes to try and focus on her breathing. She really should have just stayed at home.
“Bec?” Chloe slightly yells as she comes out of the exit door while looking around, making Beca jump lightly, straightening herself up to not look so miserable against the wall.
Chloe furrows her brow and scrunches her nose as her eyes fall on Beca and the cigarette between her fingers, “What are you doing?”
Beca glances into Chloe’s direction, “Just–” she clears her throat “–getting some fresh air…” She purses her lips and resists the urge to take another drag of the cigarette in front of Chloe after she notices how her red hair is slightly messier and her cheeks are flushed.
“Well, don’t you think you’re ruining getting fresh air by putting that in your lungs?” Chloe questions as she tilts her head slightly. “Come back inside, we’re going lose our seat,” she steps closer.
Beca can see how Chloe’s lipstick is slightly smudged once she gets closer. “Um, I… actually… think I’m going to head home,” Beca replies with a soft shake of her head, avoiding looking into Chloe’s direction, “That tequila kind of gave me a headache and I’m pretty tired.”
Chloe’s face drops and her brow furrows again, “Oh…” She perks her head back up, lip quirking into a small smile, “Well, I’ll come with you then, we can get you some water and–”
“No, it’s okay,” Beca interrupts, “you looked like you were having fun in there so, I’ll just see you at home,” she forces a half smile, a pretty poor attempted one and turns, walking away in the direction that she thinks the apartment is in, before Chloe can speak again.
 ______________________
Beca gets back to the apartment in about double the time it took her and Chloe to walk there, she definitely did not go the right way. She shuts the door with a little too much force, making half the coats hanging on the back fall to the ground, giving them a glare and deciding she really doesn’t have the energy to pick them up right now. She glances around the small apartment, making sure Amy isn’t there. No surprise, she isn’t.
She sits on the end of the bed, a dramatic and shaky sigh leaving her lips, feeling even more exhausted than what she did when she arrived home from work. The apartment feels even more empty and quiet than usual, making that dreaded lump in her throat come back. She isn’t even sure where she is looking, somewhere on the ground, but her eyes begin to blur as a few tears stray from her eyes to roll down her cheeks. Shaking her head with a groan, she wipes them away quickly and puffs out a breath. This is stupid, you are stupid, she thinks as she stands up, unsteadily shuffling off her jacket.
Her eyes spot the bottle of whiskey she used earlier on the table, pressing her lips together and clenching her jaw slightly, she walks over to it and removes the lid, taking a long swig then instantly closing her eyes tightly as it burns down her throat. She makes a slow move back to the bed, slipping her phone out of her jeans with bottle still in the other and settles down against the pillows.
Her mind wanders to what Chloe is doing right now, if she just walked back into the club without second guessing Beca’s behavior. What she might be doing with that girl right now. She’s probably still having fun. She can’t be mad at Chloe for any of it, she isn’t mad, it’s not her place, but it still is really hard for it not to hurt. She should have seen this coming, Chloe being with someone else, she should have prepared herself. Chloe is beautiful, she is bound to kiss or even get into a relationship eventually. Beca just didn’t properly prepare herself, like most things in her life.
She doesn’t know how long she’s been sitting there, mind preoccupied by thoughts. She opens her phone, having to blink a few times to focus her eyes down on it. No notifications. She’s not surprised. Actually, she’s a little surprised. Chloe is the type to text if Beca got home safe, if she’s feeling better, if she’s sure she doesn’t want her to come back. Obviously, she was still having fun without her. Beca doesn’t care. She shouldn’t care.
She throws it to the side and lifts her knees to drape her arms over them, hanging the bottle between them. The keys rattling in the door shakes her out of her thoughts, looking up with a slight frown as the door opens.
Chloe walks in cautiously, holding a large paper bag in one hand. “Hey, you,” she says as she closes the door behind her, brow furrowing at the pile of coats near her feet and stepping over them before glancing up at Beca and then the bottle between her legs, “I thought you had a headache,” she settles the paper bag and her purse onto the coffee table.
Beca chews on her bottom lip for a moment before responding, “Uh, yeah… I– I did…”, she glances around, unsure of what to say because she is terrible at lying, especially to Chloe. Clearing her throat, moving to settle the bottle down on the small bedside table carefully and crossing her legs in front of her.
Chloe cocks her head to the side as she stares at Beca for a moment, “Okay, well, I got you this–” she pulls bottled water out of the bag, settling it on the table “–I know you don’t overly enjoy the tap water we have here,” her lip curving into a small smile before continuing, “I also got you this,“ pulling a wrapped burrito out of the bag.
Beca smiles slightly, “Thanks, Chlo…”, she says in a soft tone, “I was going to get one… But I think I took the wrong way back.”
Chloe pulls her own burrito out of the bag, struggling to balance both of them in her hands and pick the water back up at the same time but manages, walking over to the bed to sit down on the corner, dropping the items down, “I was going to tell you that, but you walked away too quickly for me to get a word out,” she blinks up at Beca, pushing the items closer to her.
“Sorry,” is all Beca manages to get out as her eyes follow the other girl’s hand, glancing back up to find those ocean blue eyes still staring back at her.
“Are you okay, Becs?” Chloe says with sympathetic eyes, shuffling further up the bed to get closer to her.
Beca distracts herself by fiddling with the wrapping of the burrito in front of her, shrugging a shoulder lightly as she thinks about her response, “Yeah… Like I said, just tired.”
Chloe lets a soft sigh fall from her lips as she studies Beca’s face, “You know, you can talk to me, right? I thought we were past this whole walls-built stories high Beca thing… “
“I said I’m okay, Chloe. Just– Just drop it,” she runs her palms over her jean covered thighs, suddenly realizing how sweaty they are again, “please,” she adds on.
Chloe blinks slowly as her mouth gaps open a little before pursing her lips together with a frown, staying quiet for a long moment before changing her mind, “Actually, no. Beca, I want to know what happened. It’s pretty clear you’re not okay. We were having a good time… Is it about that girl who started dancing with me because–”
“No! I don’t care, honestly,” Beca laughs dryly, “I am totally fine, I just wanted to go home. I’m glad you were having fun… Tongue down her throat kind of fun.”
“What is that supposed to mean?” Chloe frown grows further with a wrinkled nose, “Are you jealous or something? I could have easily got her to come over to you instead.”
Beca lets out another dry laugh, “That’s not what I wanted,” she shakes her head, slowly lifting her gaze from the bed to meet confused eyes.
“Okay, then what do you want?” Chloe replies in lower tone as she looks over Beca’s face with those soft, glowing eyes that momentarily drop down to her lips before making their way back up.
Moments like this; she thinks, maybe, just maybe, Chloe has feelings back. That Chloe wants it all just as much. “I want,” Beca trails off, chewing the inside of her cheek, “to eat my burrito, I’m starving,” breaking the eye contact that was making the beat of her heart ten times quicker every second it continued. Idiot. Just tell her. Tell her how you feel.
Chloe expression flattens into defeat as she sighs quietly with a small nod, standing up from the bed to grab an old t-shirt and sleep shorts out of the draw, changing out of her dress close by.
Beca distracts herself from glancing up at the redhead by unwrapping the burrito, taking a few small bites as she fights back and forth with her mind. She really wasn’t that hungry. Why did Chloe react like she was expecting, even hoping, for Beca to say something different? Did she really just miss her chance to say ‘I want you. Please want me the same way I want you.’  There are a thousand things going through her head as she sits quietly on the bed with her eyes fixated on the food in front of her.
“I hope I got your order right; I’ve memorized it pretty good,” Chloe mumbles as she moves to settle down on the other side of the bed to lean back against her pillow, fiddling with her fingers in her lap. Her own food forgotten about at the end of the bed.
“It’s good, exactly how I like it. Thanks, Chlo,” she says with her mouth half full, sending a small smile into Chloe’s direction, which instantly disappears when she notices how sad she looks. It’s like looking at a hurt puppy and makes that sudden drop in Beca’s stomach come back. She swallows her final chew and leans to settle the half-eaten burrito down on to the bedside table next to the bottle of whiskey. Gross combination, Mitchell. She turns back to shuffle to lay on her side facing Chloe, propping herself up with one elbow, “Hey, I’m sorry… I know I kind of ruined our night and all.”
Chloe shakes her head faintly, “You didn’t, it’s okay,” turning her head to meet Beca’s gaze, her lips curving into a soft smile, “I’d much rather be here with you than anywhere else,” she says in a soft tone as she shuffles herself down to mirror Beca’s position and face her.
Beca really hopes the dim, pathetic lights in their apartment hides the blush she can feel creeping up her cheeks. “You really are my favorite person, Chloe,” she says in an equally as soft tone, her eyes wandering over Chloe’s soft features, watching the way her smile brightens after Beca’s words which makes her eyes crinkle and her eyelashes flutter through slow blinks.
“You’re my favorite person, too,” Chloe replies, moving her free hand that isn’t being used to support herself to gently brush a strand of hair away and behind Beca’s ear. Sparkling, blue eyes following her own movement before trailing back to land on Beca’s lips again, and then slowly returning to her eyes.
Beca knows she didn’t imagine that one, that lingering stare definitely lasted longer that time. She closes her eyes for a moment to bask in the feeling of Chloe’s fingers lightly trailing down her ear and jaw, skimming down the side of her neck, sending a small shiver down her spine that she really hopes wasn’t that noticeable. She opens her eyes back up slowly to meet the soft ones staring back at her. Her lips part like she’s ready to say something but closing them again after realizing she has no words for what is happening right now, and she definitely didn’t want to disturb or stop whatever was. Her heart is beating like it was about to jump out of her chest.
Chloe’s tongue flicks out to lick over her own lips and Beca’s eyes dares to skim down. She could feel Chloe inching closer ever so slowly, she could smell her fragrance–still that hint of strawberries & cream, mixed with the floral scented perfume she uses every day– Beca feels intoxicated and not at all by the alcohol she had consumed tonight.
Chloe’s fingers gently continue to trail down Beca’s neck before returning their journey back up to behind her ear and rest her hand against her cheek to cup it softly. She’s moving so slowly like she is worried she is going to scare Beca away, searching her face for any evidence this isn’t okay before finally closing that last bit of distance between them, lips barely brushing against each other.
As soon as she feels Chloe’s lips brush hers, Beca takes a light shaky breath in and leans further into the lips against her own. Was this really happening? Was there something unusual in that tequila cocktail that could possibly be making her hallucinate this? And then her mind stops working, drowning out to nothing but how soft Chloe’s lips are and how her knees feel weak even though she was lying down. She presses her lips further and tilts her head slightly as Chloe adds the same amount of pressure, kissing her back gently.
Beca’s free hand trails up from where it was awkwardly laying between them to rest on Chloe’s rib cage and pull her closer as she feels Chloe’s thumb rubbing softly against her cheek, eagerly pulling her further into the kiss.
The gradation of it all is innocent at first, their lips moving with each other’s like they are made for one another, shaky tiny breaths exhaled in between. But then Chloe’s tongue traces slowly out to meet Beca’s parting lips, Beca feels like she is melting into the bed as her tongue meets Chloe’s and her hand trails from Chloe’s rib cage around to her back, pulling her impossibly closer as their bodies press against one another.
Chloe is the first to pull back slightly after what seems like too long but also not long enough, to let out a much-needed breath. She leans in to press another soft kiss to Beca’s lips before fluttering her eyes open just at the same time as the darker blue ones, her lips curving into a smile, “I’ve wanted to do that for a really long time,” she whispers.
Beca just blinks back at the clear ocean eyes staring back into her own for a moment, “You have?” she eventually whispers back, the hand she has laying on Chloe’s back mindlessly starts trailing to hold onto her side again, like she’s scared she is about to suddenly disappear and she’ll wake up from a dream.
Chloe just nods, the smile on her lips brightening.
Beca sighs, slightly in relief and slightly trying to calm herself, she can still feel her heart beating way faster than it normally does. She surges forward to meet Chloe’s lips again, feeling Chloe’s hand moving from her cheek around to the back of her neck and instantly deepening the kiss again. One of Chloe’s thighs makes their way in between Beca’s jean covered thighs as they pull each other closer, and closer. This makes the arm Beca was propping herself up on instantly give out.
A soft giggle leaves Chloe’s lips after it happens before meeting her tongue again, she moves to slowly roll them over, so Chloe is lying on top of Beca, thigh still settled comfortably between her legs and the hand around Beca’s neck moving to tangle into brunette hair.
Beca takes a shaky breath in as she relaxes onto her back, one of her own thighs finds its way between Chloe’s and she swears she hears the other girl let out a quiet moan. Her hands trailing to rest on Chloe’s hips as their tongues dance around together passionately, Beca can’t control herself from arching her hips up ever so slightly.
Chloe meets her hips with a gentle roll down of her own, eventually tearing her lips away from Beca’s to start pressing soft kisses down her jaw line and across the side of her neck.
Beca tilts her head back to accompany the soft lips trailing across her neck, keeping her eyes pressed closed as she breathes heavily before– “Wait…” she whimpers out.
Chloe immediately stops and lifts her head up to meet Beca’s gaze with a slightly confused look, searching her eyes for uncertainty, “Are you okay?”
“Yeah, I just–“ she swallows thickly, realizing how dry her throat has become “–Can we just–“ she stutters out, looking into the pair of eyes that stare back at her so protectively and lovingly “–I don’t want this to just be some drunken make out or just sex… I really, really, like you, Chloe,” Beca says the last part a little quieter.
Finally. Beca feels a weight lifting off her shoulders as the words she’s been holding in for years finally leave her lips. Although she’s definitely holding herself back from saying I love you, just in case Chloe doesn’t feel the same. The possibility of losing her best friend is too much to think about right now.
Chloe’s expression softens as she pulls back to be able to properly look at Beca, the hand in her hair trailing back to cup her cheek and caressing again with her thumb, fingers moving lazily against the soft part of her neck right under her jaw, “I really, really, like you, Beca. I have since the moment I met you,” she says with an adorable smile spreading across her face.
Beca breathes out another sigh of relief, “Okay, cool,” her lips curving into a smile that’s probably a little too satisfied, “good to know.”
Beca still couldn’t believe this was really happening. Did she really hold and suppress all her feelings for so long without knowing Chloe has felt the exact same? Was she that oblivious that Chloe liked her back? Clearly.
“Yeah,” Chloe leans back down to press a gentle kiss to Beca’s lips, “good to know,” she murmurs against them, kissing soft lips a few more times before moving to kiss her cheek, shuffling to lay beside Beca again, “We’ve had a long night. Why don’t we cuddle and go to sleep, hm? Then I can show you just how much this definitely isn’t some drunken make out in the morning,” she hums, dancing her fingers down Beca’s neck, collarbone and shoulder blade.
Beca nods softly, the smile plastered on her face not leaving any time soon, “I’d like that,” she turns to steal another gentle kiss from Chloe before shuffling herself out of the bed. She struggles her skinny jeans and top off, finding a band t-shirt already on the floor to slip on before picking up the burrito from her bedside table and Chloe’s from the end of the bed, “I’m going to put these bad boys in the fridge for breakfast,” she smirks and walks them over to the fridge.
Chloe rearranges the blanket from underneath her so she can slip in and giggles, “Gross. But I like your thinking,” she winks and opens the blanket up as Beca turns off the lights and makes her way back over to the bed.
Beca settles back in with a content sigh. “Just one more…” she leans in to press a gentle kiss to Chloe’s lips, feeling the redhead smiling against her lips as she kisses back. It’s not hard to map out where her face is because of their shitty blinds that don’t block out the streetlights or the morning sun.
Chloe shuffles them down as she wraps her arms around Beca’s small frame as Beca reluctantly turns around after a few more soft kisses, pressing her back into Chloe’s front. “Hey, Becs,” she whispers, pulling Beca closer as she nuzzles her face into her shoulder.
“Mhm?” Beca hums out, already content enough to fall asleep quickly as one of Chloe’s hand finds her own.
There was a long pause before Chloe speaks again, “I actually really, really, love you.”
“I really, really, love you, too.”
   The end.

Bechloe Fic: The Kraken Has Been Unleashed
Summary: Chloe has a way with her. That’s for sure. And, as uncomfortable as it might make her to think about it in this very moment, Beca’s starting to wonder just what that really means.
Set at the beginning of Pitch Perfect 2. Kind of canon, kind of...not canon. Mostly fluff and fun and maybe some very mild angst at best. Nothing too stressful. We’ve been through enough of that!
Read on AO3
Chapter 10
Beca's alarm wakes her up way too early the next morning.
Usually, she'd snooze the clock ten times, roll out of bed and barely have time to brush her teeth before running to class. This morning is different though. It's the first day of her internship and she wants to be prepared.  Wants to look professional. And she's pretty sure professional doesn't include a messy bun with sweatpants and one of Chloe's Barden t-shirts.
So she gets up early. Showers and puts on something nice before grabbing a bowl of cereal.
“You look hot this morning DJ. What's up?” Stacie ambles into the kitchen and gestures to Beca's outfit while opening up the refrigerator.
Beca looks up from her breakfast. “Hey Stace.” She swallows the bite she just shoved into her mouth. “Nothing. Just...won't have time to change before the party later.” The stool screeches across the floor as she stands and drops her bowl into the sink. “See you tonight.” She grabs her things and rushes out before Stacie can ask anymore questions. Stacie can sniff out a lie from a mile away so the last thing she needs to do is play a game of 20 questions with the house genius.
“Can’t wait!” Stacie calls out as Beca hustles out of the door to get to her first class on time, excited for what the day holds.
-----
Jesse’s car is rounding the corner as Beca walks away from her last class so she picks up speed. She doesn’t trust him. He has a knack for embarrassing her in public places. Not maliciously. Just...dorky.
“Hey superstar!” Jesse shouts out of the car window as he screeches to a halt. He leans over the center console to sling the passenger door open for Beca. “Damn! Work it Bec!”
Beca practically sprints the rest of the way to the car. “Oh my god.” She jumps in and slams the door, frantically trying to roll up the window. “Please shut up.”
Jesse laughs. “Is that any way to talk to your chauffeur for the day?”
“Keep it up and it’ll only get worse.” Beca side eyes him and adjusts the radio.
Jesse always plays late fifties pop songs and while Beca appreciates all types of music, she can't sit there and listen to it for extended periods. Although it does give her ideas for new mixes. Chloe always loves it when she mashes up old school songs with new stuff. Her thoughts stay trained on her best friend and she wonders what Chloe is up to. Between the rush of getting ready and trying not to freak out, there just wasn't time to see her this morning.
That's her excuse anyway.
If she's being honest, avoidance tactics may have been at work. She feels like absolute shit for keeping the internship from the redhead but she doesn't know how to broach the subject. Under normal circumstances, she knows she would be excited to tell Chloe. But there's a lot at stake for the Bellas right now and she doesn't want to add anything else to the older woman's plate. She wants Chloe to know that she's there and she's present and she's going to fight for them because letting Chloe down would be the worst feeling in the world.
Jesse's small talk forces her to dismiss the thought. They talk about classes and auditions and their last hood night party the Trebles are hosting later tonight and before she knows it, they’re pulling up to the Residual Heat Recording Studio.
Her nerves bubble up again.
She's excited and hopeful but she still has the weight of guilt lingering in the back of her mind. Jesse reassures her that everything will be okay. He reminds her that she's worked hard for this opportunity and she deserves this shot.
She gives him a quick kiss before running away while he continues to holler out more embarrassing comments. He's definitely a nerd but he knows her well. His goofy antics have calmed her down considerably and she takes a moment to appreciate his charm before charging ahead.
-----
The afternoon is a blur.
She fucks up her name tag picture, makes a shit ton of coffee and hands out a lot of snacks. She's nobody important here but that's not the point. There's a lot to be learned. A lot to be gained. This is her shot. It's her first step into the world of music production and she's looking forward to paying her dues.
In a bizarre series of events, her boss unexpectedly storms into the office and announces they'll be producing a new Christmas album for Snoop Dogg. The Snoop Dogg. It's crazy but she stifles her excitement. She doesn't want to be labeled as some psycho newbie on her first day but relaxing isn't easy. Between draining her brain for a quick idea on how to make Snoop's new album original and the exchanges happening between this Dax kid and her boss, she’s struggling to control her reactions. Her facial expressions always give her away and the one she's wearing right now screams absolute confusion because Dax is now high-kneeing around the room and this is all really fucking weird.
Thankfully, her phone buzzes and it gives her a reason to look away from the train wreck happening in front of her. She has four messages, none of which she noticed earlier. They’re from Jesse, Amy, and Chloe respectively.
She opens Jesse's message first. It's some idiotic, cheesy 'hope everything is going well’ message and she replies by calling him a dork. It seems like her go-to word when referring to him.
She hesitates before opening Amy's messages because she never knows what the blonde is going to say. It's almost always inappropriate and usually impossible to understand, but she opens it anyway.
Shorty! Where is our toothbrush?!
Yep.
What the fuck does Amy mean by our toothbrush? Beca refuses to believe the obvious. That Amy is implying (more like directly stating) that they use the same toothbrush. That just cannot be right. And even if it is, why would it be missing?
She makes a mental note to buy a new one immediately.
Maybe two.
The second message is almost just as cringeworthy.
Your acawife was asking where you were! You're gonna be in the dingo house tonight!
The urge to roll her eyes is too strong to avoid so she rolls them around before deciding she will not be messaging Amy back. She clicks Chloe's message instead. It's the most recent one.
Trip to Copenhagen is all booked! AHH! :-P
Beca chuckles to herself. She can hear Chloe's voice singing the message in her head. It's cute but it also makes her feel bad because they haven't even discussed the issue of Worlds and Beca promised she would be there for Chloe.  Yet, here she is. At an internship that she still hasn't told Chloe about while the redhead sits at home and plans alone all afternoon. She knows she's going to have to address all of this at some point but how? This isn't really her area of expertise.
Another message comes through.
It's Chloe again.
You okay? Haven't heard from you today! :-(
Ouch.
Beca wonders why she acts like such a dick sometimes. There doesn’t seem to be any logical excuse. Especially when it comes to Chloe. She's the last person on Earth Beca wants to disappoint but it seems like it's destined to happen.
She takes a deep breath and types out a reply.
Sorry Chlo! Busy day. I'll see you at the Trebles’ later!
It's vague and lame but she can't tell the truth and she doesn’t want to outright lie to Chloe so she hits send and shoves her phone back into her pocket as her boss storms back into the room. She straightens in her seat and tries to blend in for the rest of the day.
-----
Beca exits the studio, overwhelmed and stressed, and throws her bag into the back seat of a cab before jumping in and giving the driver directions to the Bellas’ house.
She leans back and takes a deep breath that vibrates her through her lips on the way out. She knew this business would be cut-throat but wow . Today proved how messed up the music industry really is. The people are self-serving and the pace is incredibly fast and it feels like the multi-tasking skills needed to get through each minute are nearly impossible to master.
She’ll get through it though. She has to. This is her shot to get out there and start making a name for herself. This is her dream.
Plus, she’s glad to have the first day out of the way. It can only get easier from here.
Hopefully.
Possibly.
Who knows.
She shakes it off and pulls her phone out of her pocket. She hasn’t had a chance to check it since she messaged Chloe back earlier. Sure enough, there are a few new messages from her best friend. Chloe has no qualms about sending Beca multiple texts in a row. Even when Beca doesn’t answer right away, Chloe will continue babbling without worrying about whether or not she's being annoying.
If it were anyone else, Beca would probably send a string of expletives and permanently block their number. But, like everything else, Chloe is the exception. She smiles and opens their text thread.
Okay! Can't wait! XO
I hope they have the green punch!
Please bust out the cell phone dance move! I love it!!! ;-)
So, a Legacy showed up to our door tonight to audition and we accepted! She's totes amazing and you're going to love her!
I don't think we are breaking the rules bc she came to us! Loophole! :-D
BTW, Legacy means that her mom was a Bella. Her mom is THE Katherine Junk! Omg!
Beca chuckles at the enthusiasm in the messages and pictures Chloe grinning excitedly as she wrote them. A wave of anticipation hits her and she’s overwhelmed with the sudden need to get home as quickly as possible. She tells herself that she’s just anxious to get home after a long day but she knows that's a lie. Before reading those texts, she was tired. Even considered not showing up to the party but there’s a new energy flowing through her and she wills the cab driver to hurry the fuck up already.
When she finally makes it home, she throws her bag down, uses the bathroom, and races through the bushes to the Trebles’ house.
-----
Beca approaches the party, surprised at how out of control things seem already. It's still pretty early but the acapella crowd clearly came to party tonight. She wonders what type of trouble the Bellas are getting into and smiles thinking about all of their past Hood Nights. They've had some wild ones and she's sure this last one will be no different. Especially if Chloe has anything to do with it.
Chloe has a way of making Hood Nights, and most parties in general, more fun than they probably should be. Some of them, in particular, stand out for reasons that Beca isn’t prepared to think about right now. Mainly because they involve Chloe getting way too handsy.
But she already said she’s not thinking about that and scans the crowd for red hair instead.
Oddly enough, she can’t quickly spot her best friend but she spies Jesse sitting up on the deck. And because the night has her feeling light and giddy, she creeps up behind him and grabs him by the shoulders before giving him a quick peck on the lips.
His drink almost slips out of his hands and Beca mutters a quick “oh shit” before dropping down next to him. She takes a deep breath, ready to de-stress after such a crazy day, but Jesse starts asking about the internship and about Chloe and damnit.
“Oh, she’s just..she’s like, locked into the World’s right now and I’m looking for the right time. It’s-- I’ll tell her.” Beca tries to shrug it off like it’s no big deal but it dampens her mood and she excuses herself to grab a drink at the tiki hut. Why did Jesse have to bring up Chloe and the internship in the same sentence? Beca already feels like the absolute worst person in the world and the thought of Chloe having to ask Jesse for her whereabouts just makes it even worse.
This sucks.
Beca takes a huge gulp of whatever concoction is being served tonight and notes that it’s not the green punch that Chloe was hoping for but she can't dwell on it because she notices there’s a really tall girl just standing there staring at her. The girl's arms are stretched out towards Beca and she has no idea what’s about to happen.
“Hi!”
“Hi…” Beca responds hesitantly, still completely unsure.
The taller woman rambles something about being sisters and then it clicks for Beca. She realizes this is the girl- correction- the Legacy, that’s been added to their team.
“Oh yeah! Hi. Chloe texted me that we added a Legacy. I...didn't even know that was a thing.” She lifts her shoulders and gestures with her hands as she speaks. It feels odd.
The girl giggles and keeps staring at Beca so Beca just chuckles uncomfortably and takes another sip.
Then another.
And they're both just sort of standing there awkwardly.
Beca gives a tense smile and widens her eyes, which finally seems to break the other girl’s manic look.
She slaps her hands to her forehead way too hard. “Ouch! Oh my god. I’m sorry! I'm Emily. By the way. Sorry. I forgot that you didn’t know my name yet and I think the others have already started calling me Legacy so it’s totally okay if you want to call me that too I just figured you should know my real name because I totally-”
Beca reaches out and briefly touches Emily’s arm to stop her rambling. “Emily.” She pulls her hand away. “Nice to meet you.”
Emily beams and Beca really wants to get as far away from this interaction as possible.
“We can get to know each other better later. Right now…” Beca uses her head to gesture across the yard where she can see a few of the Bellas bouncing up and down. “Let’s go catch up with everyone else.”
“Oh!” Emily nods rapidly and Beca thinks she looks like a battery operated bobble-head. “Yeah, definitely! Let’s go!”
Beca nods once before taking a shot and refilling her cup as Emily follows her into the crowd.
-----
“Beca!” Amy is the first person she encounters.
Of course.
She is immediately picked up and twirled around by the blonde. “Where have you been? Oh my god! Have you gotten taller? No! That’s not possible!”
“Amy!” Beca kicks her legs and starts to protest the manhandling but she sees a flash of red hair as she’s being spun around and the words die on her lips.
She starts laughing because jesus christ. It’s been a long day and it feels like she’s been waiting to see that red hair for way too long now. She presses on Amy’s shoulders and frantically wrestles herself out of the tight grip, almost toppling them both over in the process. Amy strings together a few choice expletives and she can hear Stacie muttering something inappropriate but it doesn't stop her.
She bounces right up to her best friend with a smile so wide she thinks her head might explode. “Chlo!”
Chloe’s head whips around and when her eyes land on Beca, her face actually does explode into a display of pure joy. She reaches out and grabs Beca, hooking her arm firmly around the shorter woman’s shoulders to drag her in close.
Chloe's laugh echoes in Beca’s ear and Beca can’t stop her smile from growing impossibly wider as she wraps her arms around the redhead’s waist as best as she can and squeezes back. The scent of fresh laundry and liquor invades her senses and it’s all a little overwhelming but it feels good and she can't help but sink further into it. She lets her body sway back and forth with Chloe's as she breathes her in. Exhilaration and borderline manic happiness taking over in the moment.
“Beca!” Chloe pulls back but keeps her arm firmly around Beca’s shoulder. “Where did you come from!? Where have you been!?” Chloe’s mouth is wide open and the way her eyes are bubbling with excitement reminds Beca of a shaken soda bottle. The look is scary powerful and Beca can’t find it in herself to formulate a response so she just laughs like crazy and brings her cup up from around Chloe's waist to clink it to redhead’s before taking another sip.
Chloe’s eyes stay trained on her as she downs the drink and it makes Beca feel like a shot of Red Bull has been directly injected into her veins. It travels through her entire body with lightning speed and everything inside of her buzzes to life.  She crushes the cup in her hand as she continues to drink, eventually cracking it. Remnants of the liquid leak down her arm but she keeps chugging. The atmosphere and the energy of the party has her head spinning and she just wants to let loose. Have fun.
She’s buying time too. Chloe’s presence is taking her to another level of excitement and she doesn’t know how to quite contain it at the moment. It feels like the cup is the only thing anchoring her to sanity at the moment.
“Beca!” Chloe swats the crushed cup straight out of Beca’s hand, the last few drops splashing out when it hits the ground and Beca’s eyes widen but she doesn’t move. Her arm stays frozen in the air, invisible cup still in hand. Mouth still open.
And Chloe smiles.
It’s that mischievous, self-satisfied smile. The same one she used after their shower duet so many years ago.
Beca won't forget that look.  It makes her shiver but she smiles back, hand coming back down to squeeze Chloe around the middle again. "You're going to get into trouble tonight." Beca tuts, pretending to be put-off, "I can feel it."
Chloe nods enthusiastically, apparently thrilled by the notion, and moves both hands to Beca's shoulders. It brings the two of them face-to-face and she leans in to speak directly into Beca’s ear. "And you are already in trouble for getting here so late."
Beca’s chest tightens as Chloe pulls back to lock eyes but she keeps herself together. "Is that right?"
"Mhmm." Chloe is still nodding, all breezy happiness and cool confidence.
"Well," Beca shrugs, doing her best to appear nonchalant, "what are you gonna do about it?"
Chloe drapes her arms further around Beca’s shoulders, big blinking eyes boring into Beca, “I’m going to dance with you."
Beca’s hands involuntarily squeeze the redhead tighter, fingers eventually pressing into Chloe hard enough that she’s afraid she might leave a mark. She panics momentarily, not wanting to hurt her best friend, but then Chloe’s laugh cuts through the party noise and the redhead is dragging her through a crowd of people back towards familiar faces that instantly start shouting when they see the duo approaching.
“Beca!”
“Chloe!”
“Bloe!”
“What’s up bitches?!”
“Where were you guys!?”
Beca dodges Amy’s swinging arms as Chloe continues to pull her into the circle of Bellas but all of her ducking and dodging distracts her right into Stacie’s waiting hands.
“DJ!” Stacie shouts, squishing Beca’s cheeks and before Beca can react, Stacie starts moving in with puckered lips. There’s nothing Beca can do because one of her hands is still wrapped up in Chloe’s and the other is no match for Stacie’s strength so she braces for the onslaught coming her way, eyes shut and lips sucked in.
But it never comes.
Instead of sloppy Stacie kisses, Beca feels herself being pulled out of the taller woman’s grasp. She sees a flash of red and green and her favorite smile and she lets herself collide with the person reining her in. Hands squish her cheeks again but this time, she doesn’t even consider trying to fight them off. Instead, she wraps her arms around Chloe and returns the smile, letting everything around her disappear because Chloe leans in and peppers her face with kisses that match the beat of the song and the thump of her heart.
It makes Beca feel giddy.
Goofy.
Like she’s already had too much to drink but she knows that can’t be.
And really, in the moment, Beca honestly doesn't care what the reason is.
What the feeling is.
All she knows is that Chloe is here and everything feels perfect so she grabs on tighter and pulls Chloe in closer. Squeezing and laughing like a crazy person.
"You're insane! You know that, right?!" She's borderline shouting to be heard over the music.
Chloe pulls back just long enough to look directly at Beca. Eyes dancing and hands squeezing Beca's shoulders tightly. She mutters a quick, "mhmm" and leans in again, bright blue eyes crossing briefly as they come nose-to-nose.
It makes Beca chuckle.
"I know." Chloe mumbles the words and kisses the tip of Beca's nose.
Beca takes a deep breath and lets the tingling feeling take over as the beat drops and she falls into step with Chloe.

Hey thank you so much for taking the time to write the stuff we sent you, they are amazing, Ok so prompt (if you have the time...) Chlkoe finds that Beca has a secret hobby (maybe something that her grandma taught her -your choice-) and well it makes her love her even more. Again thanks...😉
It’s my pleasure. A little cute short one-shot on its way. Hope you enjoy :D
Ps.: Thank you so much for 600 followers. Love you all 😘
Soft acoustic music drifted through the house, all the way up to the second floor and into the bedroom they shared. Chloe fluttered her eyelids open despite the dark hours, gaze heavy with sleep. She blinked tiredly and reached her arm over to her side, where she found the bed empty.
She sighed. The sheets were cold, missing an important person that occupied it for several hours before.
But Chloe knew, she was somewhere near.
Beca arrived two days ago, for a much needed break between her shows and they barely left the house. Only leaving their bed to order take-out or going out to the balcony to sit by the fire and watch the waves crashing before them.
She threw the blanket to the side and got out of the bed, fighting the shiver to run down her spine because of the cold weather on her overheated skin. She grabbed Beca’s many sweatshirts hanging in the closet and pulled it over her head, smiling as she sniffed the clothing, Beca’s perfume exploding around her.
Strolling along the carpet, Chloe followed the melody all the way up to her favorite place in the entire beach house. It was one of their first projects upon buying the building to rebuild the rooftop to an amazing balcony that overlooked the ocean.
Chloe loved to sit out there whenever she was sad or overwhelmed, the view always calming her down.
As she reached the door, a smile tugged on her lips as she spotted Beca through the glass doors with her head toward the ground, sitting before the crackling fire. Chloe sometimes found her there, usually when she had trouble writing lyrics and needed inspiration. Some of Chloe’s favorite songs were written up on the roof.
Noticing the paper and pen in her hands, Chloe rolled her eyes fondly, thinking the inspiration hit her in the middle of the night and she just had to get up and put the words on paper, just like she did numerous times before. She sometimes had a hard time switching her brain off and getting a good night sleep.
“Hey.” She called out softly, trying not to scare her. She smiled fondly when Beca turned her head to look at her.
“Was the music too loud? Sorry, I didn’t mean to wake you.” She apologized quietly, putting the paper down beside her.
Chloe shook her head. “I woke up because I was cold.” She stepped closer and settled down beside Beca, wrapping her arms around her waist and snuggled into her. “You weren’t there to keep me warm.”
Beca chuckled softly and kissed the top of her head, putting her arm around her shoulder. “I’m sorry, baby. I just - couldn’t sleep.”
Chloe nodded. “New song?” She asked quietly as she watched the fire burn slowly. They melted into the couch as she threw a blanket over their lap.
Beca was silent for a while causing Chloe to frown and look up at her. “Not exactly.” She reached over and picked up the paper and handed it to Chloe.
The redhead looked over the paper but instead of finding meaningful lyrics, she took in the beautiful sketch of the ocean Beca drawn on the surface. Even though, it was in the early stages, Chloe could see the picture coming together.
Her eyes widened at the image and looked back at Beca confusedly. “Oh my God, Becs…This is beautiful. I didn’t know you could draw.”
The brunette lowered her head bashfully as a soft smile danced on her lips. “I don’t do it often anymore. It’s just a hobby.”
Chloe shook her head at the dismissive tone of her voice. Anybody who could draw like this shouldn’t be humble, she should be broadcasting it to the world. She couldn’t believe the amount of talent her girlfriend had.
“You should definitely do it more.” Chloe encouraged, sitting up and looking at Beca with a glint in her eyes. “You’re amazing.” She leaned over and kissed her cheek. “How did you learn to draw like this?”
Beca’s smile weakened as she looked out over the ocean. “My grandma taught me. When my parents’ divorced…” She sighed. “I hated them both so much that I ran to my grandma to get away. She lived in this cute little place a few blocks away and she would always greet me with a hug and cookies.” She gave a small chuckle and turned to Chloe. “You know, like any grandmother would.”
Chloe reciprocated the smile but stayed silent, didn’t taking her eyes off of Beca. The brunette wasn’t famous for opening up to people, keeping them at arm length but there were rare moments when she would let Chloe in and the redhead cherished those moments. The more she talked about her feelings, her fears and her passion, Chloe found herself falling in love with her more and more.
“So, I began to spend most of my time with her. She would always try and find something for us to do, saying she refuses to watch TV all day.” Beca shook her head fondly. “So, we tried baking or sewing but I got bored really quickly. Then one day, when I went over in the afternoon, she was outside in her backyard with a canvas in front of her, painting an old oak tree. She told me to sit and handed me a paper and we started drawing. We did that every time I was there.”
Then Beca’s smile slipped from her face and Chloe’s breath caught in her throat at the emotions shining in her eyes. “Then when she passed away, I stopped. It just felt weird doing it without her. And when I got into music, I honestly forget about it.”
Chloe’s frowned and reached over to take her hand between hers, sweeping her thumb back and forth over her knuckles.
“Then what changed?” She asked quietly, not wanting to break the bubble that fell over them.
Beca’s smile returned if only slightly. “I found one of my drawings in my desk a couple of years ago when I was looking for something. I was so mad at myself, thinking the minute I stopped drawing, I forgot about my Grandma. So, I started doing it again. But only on her birthdays.”
Chloe’s eyes glistened with affection and her heart swelled with love for the woman sitting beside her. Beca liked to come off as an emotionless, heartless person, hiding behind her walls but Chloe knew the truth.
She connected the dots quickly and squeezed Beca’s fingers softly. “It’s her birthday today, isn’t it?”
Beca nodded. “Yeah. She was supposed to be 92.”
Chloe shifted closer and pulled Beca into her arms. “I’m sure she would’ve loved your drawings.”
Beca chuckled and nodded. “Yeah, I hope so.”
Silence fell over them as pair looked at the view, the only sound was the waves crashing against the shore. Chloe lingered her lips on Beca’s temple, trying to show her love without words.
“Becs?” She spoke out quietly.
“Hm?”
“Do you know where your Grandmother’s paintings are?”
Beca lifted her head from Chloe’s shoulders. “I think my Mom has them in the attic. Why?”
“I was thinking maybe we can bring some of them home?” Chloe asked genuinely. “And hang them up around the house.” She understood now how much those things meant to Beca and if it meant a lot to her, it meant a lot to Chloe.
Beca didn’t say a word, only leaned forward and captured Chloe’s lips between her own gently. She wanted to show Chloe how grateful she was. She lingered for a minute, deepening the kiss before pulling away and resting her forehead against hers.
Her lips trembled as she said. “God, I love you.”
Chloe smiled back at her and pulled her in for a much needed second kiss.

‘Frank Turner universe’ fic. Chapter II: I.I. 2013. The first polaroid picture
Chapter summary:  Beca and Chloe attend their first Frank Turner show together, in Atlanta, where Chloe realizes maybe her feelings for Beca are not purely friendly...
Also on AO3.
Someday in November, 2013.
Beca was outside the Bella's house. She was lying down the grass with her headphones on, listening to some music obviously. It was one of her favorites things to do on her days off. Those days were reserved to do absolutely nothing but to lie down and not feeling guilty about procrastinate, pretty much being the woman's attitude on a daily basis.
She was listening to 'Tape deck heart', Frank Turner's album which he will be going to tour along the US with during that year. The very same tour Beca and Chloe buy tickets for to attend to months ago, being set for 10th of November, here in Atlanta.
Beca opened her eyes to find Stacie poking at her right cheek, with a funny expression on her face. The woman was funny, yeah, but Beca would rather not to be bothered at times like this, when she was trying to find some kind of spiritual silence out the Bella's house. That was the reason why she was outside at the grass instead of being inside the house. With a not amused smile, Beca paused the song she was currently listening to, and took her headphones off to pay attention to Stacie.
“Woah, easy, Mitchell. Don't smile too broadly. It might crack your jaw. Jeez”.
Beca rolled her eyes. “Is that better?” said the petite woman, who softened her expression.
“Not really, but I appreciate the effort. Anyway. I know you'd rather not be disturbed, but Chloe is looking for you. She says she has something she wants to show you, I don't know. Let her know you're here or something”.
“Will do, Conrad. Thank you so so so much for the heads-up, you're so kind. Now I'm smiling broadly to you, see? I'm suuuuuper nice”.
“Okay, you can stop now. I'm going inside. Text Chloe”.
Beca chuckled as she saw Stacie walking away towards the house. Then she grabbed her phone and texted Chloe: I'm outside, lying on the grass, listening to some music. Usual deal with me. You should know it by now, Beale. Come join me.
Coming! replied Chloe.
“Hey, you” said the redhead, who joined Beca on the grass outside the house in a matter of minutes.
“Hey, yourself. Stacie said you wanted to show me something?”
“Yep” Chloe sat beside Beca.
“What is it?”
“Look at what I got. Brand new” Chloe showed a squared box to Beca, who was patiently waiting. Then the redhead passed the box to the brunette, who finally opened the box.
“Okay, this is sooo cool. But should I be impressed or something? I mean, okay. But I don't get it. Is this a big deal and I forgot why?”
“That could have happened, but not in this case. No, silly. Don't you get it? A camera...”  encouraged Chloe.
“Yeah, a polaroid camera, in particular”.
“C'mon you almost got it. You can make it, Bec. A polaroid camera which takes pictures makes...”
“Dude, I don't know. A camera takes pictures”.
“Well, aren't you smart. Besides, I got to that conclusion, not you. No, but I'm not talking about any camera, but a polaroid camera. C'mooooooon, is not that difficult, really. A polaroid camera that takes pictures makes...?”
“Uh... uh... A polaroid picture?” answered Beca.
“Yeah! A polaroid pict-”
“Oh my god! A polaroid picture, of course! I get it now! But in the stillness of the moment it takes for a polaroid picture to capture our faces forever” sang Beca, as she understood the reference Chloe was trying to make her understand.
“Well, that took you forever but I've decided to forget you already since you sang that verse with your beautiful voice” let out Chloe with a satisfied smile, while looking directly to Beca's eyes and watching her face blush a little.
Ever since they met, Chloe would always go like these on Beca -like complimenting her voice, a particular aspect of her, anything really; even looking at her like she did before: like Beca was her only focus-, just like that, just like without even thinking about saying it. Yeah, that was the way Chloe was made, but with Beca was... different. It'll always be different with Beca, she knew that when she met her at the activities fair the year before -Beca's first year-.
And when she almost "jumped" her on the showers the moment she heard her sing. They sang together while harmonizing and looking into each other's eyes, even each other's lips. And once they finished the verse they were singing, they felt that each other's eyes were looking far down their respective eyes to look at her boobs instead, smoothly.
And that time in initiation night at Hood Night Party, when Chloe ran directly towards Beca when she saw her standing alone in one of the old amphitheater seat rows. She grabbed Beca by her wrists, moved the woman towards her -despite the small space that separated the two of them- so their foreheads were almost pressed together and declared she was "very glad" that she met Beca because she thought they would become "really fast friends". That quick interaction they both shared almost led to think that they were about to kiss each other, since both women were looking at each other's eyes and mouths, again.
No wonder why Beca and Chloe were so close to each other and why the two women shared that special bond everyone seemed to notice, even Jesse, who Beca was dating since the end of last semester. You don't stepped into someone's shower, looked at her eyes, lips, boobs and then almost kissed her without shaking things up. Being "things" referred to the relationship Beca and Chloe shared ever since their first meeting. They'd always have this unspoken thing between them due to their firsts interactions.
That was Chloe had been thinking for about a while now: maybe she doesn't feel what she was supposed to feel -friendship- about Beca, but something more. A crush maybe. That allowed her to let out those spontaneous, sweet, cute and flirty compliments to Beca without any shame or shyness. Not being cut out that way at all, it was who Chloe was.
Beca, for her part, mostly backed up at Chloe's compliments due to her awkwardness in these kind of situations: being considered as a minimum invasion of privacy and space. Beca wasn't the flattering and flirtatious kind, not to mention the touchy kind. So she rarely answered the same way Chloe addressed to her. Besides, Beca was dating Jesse so it would be awkward-ish.
The most normal thing for Beca to do to answer Chloe's compliments was to roll her eyes, mostly, to go silent and then clear her throat or just to shrug and to smile shyly. She understood Chloe's forward nature because the redhead always showed herself that way to everyone, but Beca always suspected that she was a little too forward with her. She also understood that due to the showers episode, which seemed to be the most perfect explanation to justify their behaviors with each other as well as the nature of their relationship/friendship.
Beca rolled her eyes at Chloe's compliment. “Yeah, I like Frank's voice better. Anyway, what's your deal with the polaroid camera?”
“Right. Well, so as he sings: let go of the little distractions, hold close to the ones that you love. 'Cause we won't all be here this time next year so while you can take a picture of us”  Chloe began to sang softly as Beca did before. “So I thought maybe we could take a picture of us at the concert. You know, a polaroid picture to show we've been watching to see where the time goes, to keep it with us forever. I don't know, it seemed nice when I thought about it”.
“Okay, you can be honest with me. You had it all planned since we bought the tickets, hadn't you?” teased her Beca.
“N... No? Okay, I had. I thought it was a great idea, if you ask me”.
“It is, Chlo. That could be a Frank Turner's shows tradition from now on. Our tradition. A polaroid picture for every single Frank Turner show we ever attend to. What do you say?”
“Well, I think it's an offer I can't refuse” said Chloe, with a Marlon Brando-ish voice.
“Dude, what kind of noise is that? It's creepy”.
“Oh, of course. I forgot you don't like movies. It's an iconic line of The Godfather, you ignorant”.
“Shut uuuup. Anyway, look what I was listening to when you came looking for me” Beca showed Chloe her laptop's screen, which showed iTunes interface currently playing a song of 'Tape deck heart'.
“God, I love this album. It's like his most mature yet. Couldn't think of any better chance to go see him perform live than now on this 'Tape deck heart' tour, honestly”.
“Right?! It's like the perfect album to listen to after a breakup. Like on an endless loop”.
“Woah, Bec. Are you trying to say that...?”
“What? Oh, no. No, no. It's all good with Jesse. I was just... I mean, look at the titles of the songs and also the order of them. Recovery, Losing days, The way I tend to be, Good and gone... I mean I would be listening to it”.
“Well, let me tell you I get that. Frank's always a great company choice, so...” Chloe smiled tenderly at Beca, who smiled back at Chloe. “I'm crazy about Good and gone, by the way. What a lyrics”.
“Dude, I looove Good and gone. I'm starting to think you can read minds, Chlo. The same thing happened with Reasons to be an idiot“.
“Maybe I know you so well...”
“Yeah, maybe you do”.
Both Beca and Chloe looked to each other and shared the same affectionate smile. Then Beca turned the volume of her laptop on so the two of them could listen to 'Tape deck heart' since the beginning. Lying on the grass outside the Bella's house. Together.
November 10th, 2013.
“Bec, you ready?” Chloe asked just as she went up the stairs to join Beca at the attic room, since the brunette had to share it with Amy, due to the lack of space for all of the Bellas to have an individual room.
“Give me a second “ Beca answered, getting more frustrated by the moment. Chloe noticed by her tone and body language.
“Are you okay? What are you looking for this desperately?”
Beca smiled and chuckled nervously, then brought her hand to scratch the back of her head and looked at Chloe with a worried expression.
“Uh... I can't find my ticket”.
“What? Bec, how is that even possible? I saw you put it right on your desk right after we bought them” Chloe said, looking at Beca's desk just in case. The redhead joined the brunette in the ticket-search-task, looking over, in, on and under everywhere Beca's space, literally.
“Ugh, I don't know dude. I thought the same and well... It isn't there. I literally looked everywhere. I don't know where I put it. Shit, Chloe. What are we going to do if we can't find it?”
“Okay, relax. I'm sure we'll find it eventually. We still got time, don't worry. Let's find your ticket. Okay, now focus. Where were the last places you'd put it?”
“Uh... Under the laptop? Over the table? Inside my shoes?”
“What?! Inside your shoes? What kind of person would do that? Anyway, so those places are a nope. Let's think again. What do you usually keep your things? Like it has to be a visible place or space, right?”
“Uh... Reasonably yeah, necessarily no. I mean look at this place, it's a disaster. Like Amy has all her clothes here and there, piled up on the sofa, which I don't know if it's a sofa anymore. Her shoes are also all over the flo-”
“Wait!”
“What?!”
“Amy! What if...”
“Do you think Amy has it?”
“No. I'm thinking maybe she kept it by accident, since this place is... Well... THIS place” Chloe said as she walked towards Amy's side of the room, sidestepping Amy's clothes that were on the floor.
“Dude, we'll never find the damn ticket around all this... I don't even know how to describe it”.
“Bec, just calm down. Come help me look, okay? We'll find it”.
“Ugh. I'm gonna kill Amy”.
The two women looked over everywhere, pretty much the same process they followed when looking at Beca's side of the room for the ticket earlier.
“Wait a moment” Beca said. “Amy has this box where she puts mostly food just in case she gets hungry at nights, but I've seen her put some other stuff sometimes”.
“Okay! Let's check Amy's box, then!” encouraged Chloe.
Beca and Chloe then looked under Amy's bed for any sign of that box Beca mentioned. Once they found it, Beca opened it to check if her ticket was really there. It was.
“So you were right. We found it! You got your ticket! I told you we would, you should give me more credit you know” said Chloe.
“I'm so happy right now I could even give you a hug” Beca held her ticket up to her chest, like it was her most precious possession.
“Woah. So bold, Mitchell. You should hold yourself” Chloe mocked.
“Be serious, Beale. We got a concert to attend to. Let's go before it ends, shall we?”
Beca and Chloe went walking down the stairs right to step out of the Bella's house as they reach the door. Before they left, they heared the voices of some of the Bellas wishing them a nice concert and a fun night. Both Beca and Chloe thanked they as they walked awayaway the house. After a while, Beca asked:
“Dude, where's the Uber? It should be here by now. Shit, we're gonna end up missing this concert”.
“Hey, don't jinx it. We're gonna have a suuuper nice night, you'll see. Look, the Uber just got here” Chloe waved at the vehicle to let know their driver that they were there, just waiting for the vehicle to pick the women up. “C'mon, let's jump on it”.
“Hey. Are you Beca?” said the Uber driver.
“I am” Beca answered.
“Oh, hi there. I'm Kate. Okay, get in the car. Where to?”
“We're going to Center Stage Theater? Like the show venue” said Chloe, to which Kate nodded as she started the car.
“Oh, so you going to see Frank Turner live, huh?”
“Do you know him?” Chloe asked with an astonished tone.
“Oh, yeah. I even saw him live once. You're so gonna love him. He's awesome. He's a very nice man, so grateful and full of energy. He's lovely, really”.
“Niiiiice” said Chloe, as she shared a look with Beca.
“We're gonna be there in time, right?” Beca asked Kate.
“I'm going as fast as I can. At what time does the show begin?”
“At 8.00. So we're kinda in a rush here”.
“Okay, let's go faster then. We're gonna make it there on time”.
After what felt a long ten minutes to Beca and Chloe, Kate got there as she said to them in a matter of minutes. Kate looked through the car window and said to her passengers: “So we're finally here. Seems you to are right on time”.
“Kate. You're awesome” Beca said.
“Oh my god, our heroine Kate. Keep the change” Chloe said as she paid for the ride.
“Thanks, girls! Hey, have fun, okay? See ya'!” Kate said goodbye to Beca and Chloe, who did the same and began walking fast towards the venue.
“We dit it, Bec. I told you we would, it's destiny: we had to see Frank together for the first time”.
“You're a nerd” Beca chuckled. “Shall we?”
“Pleeeeease!”
Both women finally entered the venue and made it into the room Frank was going to play. It was quite huge, actually.
“Oh my gooood, this is awesomeee” said Chloe as she looked through the room.”I’m sure Frank sold all the tickets, it's full. Look at that”.
“I would, but I can't barely see. I hate being this tall, ugh”.
“I'm not that tall myself, you know. I'm only a few inches taller than you. Okay, let's move forward. Ready? Hey, excuse me. My friend is over there and I got to get to her, she has my beer. Mary!! I'm here, I'm coming now”  Chloe began to scream, looking ahead of her, dragging Beca by the hand along with hers. The redhead looked at Beca for a second and saw a light smile on her face. Once they stopped at the point the visibility seemed okay for the both of them, they both glanced at each other and began jumping and screaming.
“This is perfect. We're gonna see him so close, Beca! There's literally nobody taller than us ahead of us”.
“Tall people are the worst, ugh. Thanks for dragging us here” Beca looked and smiled at Chloe.
”I got your back, so you'll go on” replied Chloe, who wkinked and smiled back at Beca. “See what I did there? Frank’s ‘If I ever stray’ reference”.
”Yeah, Chlo. 100 points” Beca mocked and chuckled, which Chloe responded the very same way.
Suddenly, the light went off and people began cheering and clapping. Beca and Chloe got closer to each other so they could hear one another. Chloe put her arm over Beca's shoulders, and Beca reciprocated the action.
“You ready, Mitchell?”
“Let's do this”.
They dropped their arms and joined the people around them cheering and clapping. They suddenly saw a few men going up the stage and they could hear how the crowd cheering went wilder and louder. Those few men were The sleeping souls, Frank Turner's backup band, who waved at the crowd as they began taking their respective positions. Frank followed them and joined them up the stage, he grabbed one of his acoustic guitars and raised his arms for the crowd to cheer, who replied with more cheering and clapping. Beca and Chloe turned to face each other for a moment.
“Oh my god, Beca!!! I think I'm gonna die tonight”.
“I know, dude!!! Shit, I'm nervous. It's gonna be a great night, Chlo. I can feel it”.
They didn't have much time to exchange feelings, because Frank began to play first song's chords. He opened his mouth and began to sang.
Well, I guess I should confess that I'm starting to get old. All the latest music fads all passed me by and left me cold. All the kids are talking slang I won't pretend to understand. All my friends are getting married, mortgages and pension plans. And it's obvious my angry adolescent days are gone and I'm happy and I'm settled in the person I've become. But that doesn't mean I'm settled up and sitting out the game. Time may change a lot but some things they stay the same.
Beca and Chloe sang the chorus on the top of their lungs, as they joined Frank's singing and playing.
And I won't sit down and I won't shut up. And most of all I will not grow up. And I won't sit down and I won't shut up. And most of all I will not grow up.
Frank almost reach the end of 'Photosynthesis' when stopped playing and singing.
“Okay, friends. I wanna see you singing, I wanna see you dancing, I wanna see you clap your hands. We're gonna say one-two, one-two-three, okay, Atlanta? Are you fucking readyyyy?” Frank said instead.
Beca and Chloe shared a look and they both bring their arms up to the air and began screaming at Frank's requirement.
“Yeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh” they screamed at the unison as Frank began to play the song's chords.
“One. Two. One-two-three” Frank encouraged.
Now I'll play and you sing, the perfect way for the evening to begin. Now I'll play and you sing, the perfect way for the evening to begin. And I won't sit down and I won't shut up. And most of all I will not grow up. And I won't sit down and I won't shut up. And most of all I will not grow up.
Just as soon as the song ended, the crowd went even wilder than at the beginning of the show. Beca and Chloe shared a look and the both understood one another, since one look was all they need to read each other's mind. Wow they seemed to express.
“Okaaaay, Atlanta. Goodnight! How you doooooiiiiiing? My name's Frank Turner and this is The sleeping souls. Thanks for being here to listen to us tonight. Anyway, friends, welcome to show number 1494!!!” Frank screamed as the crowd joined him. “Fuck yeah, let's hear it!!!”
“Did you notice? He won't stop smiling. I loooove him!!” said Chloe as she approached Beca so she could hear her.
“He's a fucking rock 'n' roll star. I mean look at him, he won't stop moving” Beca replied.
“Okay, friends” Frank addressed the crowd. “So ‘The sleeping souls' and I are here in the US touring with my new brand album 'Tape deck heart', which was released earlier this year. I know there are people here tonight that followed me through the years, but for those who just joined: we're gonna play 'Tape deck heart' songs, too. So this song that follows is called Plain sailing weather”.
As the concert went by, Frank's interactions with the crowd increased, which to the crowd seemed to respond like Frank was their dearest friend. The atmosphere was great: people cheering, singing, clapping, jumping, enjoying.
“Dude, best night ever. Even with his back pain, he won't stop moving or jumping. This man is everything” Beca pointed out.
”I'm so in love right now I could burst into love tears”.
“Oh, get over yourself, Beale. Behave” Beca cracked up.
“Whaaaat? I legit love him, he's incredible”.
“I bet Kate was right, huh?”
“Soooo right! I wish she was our drive back to Barden” both Chloe and Beca went silent as they hear the chords Frank was beginning to play.
“Is that...?” asked Chloe.
“It is”.
“My jaaaaaaaaaaam” screamed Chloe, who turned to look directly at Frank, leaving Beca smiling at the redhead's reaction.
You're not as messed up as you think you are, your self-absorption makes you messier, just settle down and you'd feel a whole lot better. Deep down you're just like everybody else. She's not as pretty as she thinks she is, just picture her after she's had kids. I bet she sits at home and listens to The Smiths. Deep down she's just like everybody else.
Beca poked Chloe's shoulder to turn herself to her, so they could be in front of each other, to sing the chorus of 'Reasons not to be an idiot' together.
So why are you sat at home? You're not designed to be alone, you've just got used to saying no. So get up, and get down, and get outside 'cause it's a lovely sunny day but you hide yourself away, you've only got yourself to blame. Get up, and down, and get outside.
“Dude, you hate this song” said Beca just as the song ended.
“Oh my god, totes. I've been wanting to hear it live since that night back in Portland, I knew it right when I heard it”.
“Yeah, I figured since you spoke heavens of it. That's part of Frank's magic, I guess”.
“I guess”.
Both women smiled at each other, with affectionate smiles and reminded just like that for a few seconds. Then turned to the stage again to follow the concert. A few songs were played after 'Reasons not to be an idiot' just to get to another 'English keep my bones' hit.
“Dude, dude, dude, DUDE!! This is my jam” yelled Beca, who was looking at Frank, then turned to look at Chloe, who was staring at her with could be passion in her eyes.
The redhead had this habit of staring at Beca whenever she did something Chloe find nerdy, adorable even. But she never looked at Beca the way she was looking at her right now, at Frank's show. Chloe's eyes could speak her mind: the woman was passionate enough about music, but if the combo mixed music, live music, Frank Turner's music and Beca being passionate about singing Fran Turner's music at a live show... Well, that was everything. The thought hit Chloe as she watched Beca singing on the top of her lungs and being all passionate the song Frank was playing and Frank himself: she has a crush on Beca, her best friend, her platonic soulmate. The song came to an end and Beca began jumping and screaming while she looked at Frank.
“Wow. This song is like so relatable. I mean and on the worst days, when it feel like life weights ten thousand tonnes, I sleep with my passport, one eye on the backdoor so I can always run. Totally relatable” Beca pointed out
“Well, I hope you'll never run” blurted out Chloe.
“Won't do, Beale. Not anytime soon, at least” answered Beca, which left Chloe went blank. “Dude, I'm joking. Of course I won't leave, you weirdo. Chill”.
“For what it's worth, I also love 'I am disappeared', by the way” Chloe diverted the attention.
“I mean who wouldn't love a classic trapped-in-life-so-need-to-runaway song, right?” Beca asked and Chloe nodded in response.
“Alright, Atlanta” began Frank. “It's been a lovely night, thank every single one of you who came here see us tonight. I hope you'd had a great time with us. I also hope to see you along the way. Okay, so we're gonna play one last song and I want to see all of you fucking singing, and fucking jumping and fucking go craaazyyyyyy. This one's called Four simple words. Atlanta, you fucking reeeeeeeadyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy?”
Because we're all so very twenty-first century you're probably listening to me on some kind of portable stereo. Maybe you're sitting on the back of the bus, or it's running up your sleeve and you're across from your boss, or you're sitting in the bedroom on your own with the light down low.
“ C'mon, Atlanta. Sing with meeeeeeeeeeee”.
Chloe and Beca grabbed each other by one another lower backs and joined Frank and the crowd.
I'd like to teach you four simple words, so the next time you come to a show you can sing those words back at me like they're the only words that you know.
Frank encouraged the crowd to sing while moving his arms to the right and to the left repeatedly.
I want to dance, I want to dance. I want love and lust and a smattering of romance. But I'm no good at dancing and yet I have to do something. Tonight I'm gonna play it straight, I'm gonna take my chance. I want to dance.
“C'mooooooooooooooooooon everybody, sing along!!!!” Frank screamed.
Beca and Chloe, still with their hands on one another lower backs, began jumping while singing the lyrics to 'Four simple words' until the song came by its natural end.
“Thank yoooooooooouuuuuuuuu, friends! Take care! We'll see along the way!” Franksaid as he waved at the crowd while began walking off the stage, along The sleeping souls.
“Duuuuuuuude, that's it? Okay, what a show. Frank's insane. The energy, dude” said Beca, who turned to face Chloe.
“I'm stunned, this man is legit the love of my life. This show has been insane, indeed. Here” said Chloe, as she was taking something from her bag, “come closer. We have to take the first picture, remember?”
“The polaroid picture, yeah. I remember. Let's take it, let's get this over with. I hate you for wanting to take a picture, by the way”.
“You hate being in pictures alooone, this is different. You're with me and we just got out of Frank Turner's concert. This is different”.
“Okay, a little. But for what it's worth there's no one I'd rather be in a picture with, Chlo”.
Chloe blushed a little and smiled at her best friend, who put an arm over the redhead's shoulders and took the polaroid camera.
“Smile a little for the camera, Beale. Here we go” Beca pressed the polaroid camera button and took the picture, as it began to print. The polaroid picture. Their polaroid picture. Which was destined to be a tradition from now on everytime they attend one of Frank's shows. Their tradition.
“I love it” said Chloe as she took the picture once it was printed.
“Agreed” replied Beca. “Now let's get home, shall we?”
They were waiting for their Uber to pick them up when Beca saw a merchandise stand just a few meters away the Stage Center Theater.
“Wait me here for one second, okay? I'll be right back” Beca walked away from Chloe towards the merchandise stand and began speaking to the man who was selling Frank's products. After a few minutes, Beca got back to Chloe, who was waiting just where Beca left her.
“What did you got?” Chloe asked, curiously.
“The most awesome poster I've ever seen. Look” Beca asked, as she unfolded the piece of paper she just bought. The poster had 'Tape deck heart' album cover printed on it, along with Frank's US tour dates. The album cover itself was a heart, as in the organ's anatomic shape, tangled with a tape old cassette by the heart's veins and arteries. Then was the title of the album, 'Tape deck heart', and a few decorations around the 'tape-heart'. At the bottom of the album cover was Frank's name.
“Woah, yeah. 'Tape deck heart's album cover is fascinating” Chloe agreed.
“Yeah, dude. A piece of art. So I decided to buy it just to put up on my bedroom wall. And to remind our first Frank's show. My particular polaroid picture, you know. It's not that I need to look at it to remind tonight, but still. I want to have it just right beside me. I don't know, it's silly” Beca said, first looking at Chloe; then at the floor.
“Okay, first. You are a nerd, but still adorable. And second, it's not silly. Actually, I think it's the most "romantic" thing you've ever said. I mean you want to remind tonight, what an honor!” Chloe mocked at last.
“Okay, stop pushing or it won't be a second time”.
“A second time?”
“Uh... I meant a second Frank's concert”.
“ Sure, Mitchell. Keep telling yourself that” Chloe replied as soon as her eye caught the Uber's lights as the vehicle approached both women. “What do you say we call it a night, yeah?”
“Let's hit home”.
Both Beca and Chloe spent the drive home silent, just watching through the car's windows, thinking about the night they just shared, probably. Chloe stared at Beca momentarily, as she caught the brunette distracted by looking at the roads they were passing by with the car. The thought that hit Chloe earlier at Frank's show was still there: she had a crush on Beca. A sentiment that it wasn't mutual or reciprocated, because the woman was actually with Jesse. I'll figure it out, she thought to herself.
Beca and Chloe were finally at the Bella's house after a twenty minute ride. Once they got into the house, Chloe went directly towards the fridge to grab a pair of beer bottles: one for her and one for Beca, who loved beer. None of the Bellas were awake, so Beca and Chloe had to whisper due to keep the volume down.
“Hey, Chlo? Would you come upstairs with me for a minute? I wanna put the poster up the wall and I'd like you to be there” Beca said in a gentle way.
“Sure, let's go”.
Once they were there, Beca pointed to the only available space the room wall had, just next to a photoset and between a bunch of few posters.
“I wanna put it right there”.
“Since it's the only available space the wall has left”.
“Right. Here, take this side. Help me put it up the wall” Beca said to Chloe, as she was walking towards the wall room. “Okay, be careful. Is it straight?”
“I think so, yeah” replied Chloe.
“How does it look?”
“Perfect” said Chloe, as she and Beca remained silent while staring together at the poster.

Bella Reunion 2017
~B~
Saturday, June 24th, 2017
Beca settled heavily into a chair. “Oh god, I don’t think I can dance anymore.” She had never been more thankful she’d decided to go with her sneakers for the reunion.
“What’s the matter, Shawshank? Married life making you slow?” Amy frowned and eyed her as Beca laid her head on the table for a second. “I’d have thought it would have taken a few more years for that to happen.”
“Unlike some people, I have been dancing for the last three hours.” Beca sat up and flagged down one of the wait staff and ordered a beer. “It’s now time to drink.”
Amy nodded sadly. “And turned you into an alcoholic. As expected.”
“What do you mea—Never mind.” Beca shook her head. “I know how this goes. You make weird statements and confuse me and I end up confessing something embarrassing by accident.”
“Aw, but that’s the fun part.” Amy sighed. “And without Bumper here, you know I need to keep distracted until I can get back to the hotel and-“
“Do not finish that sentence if you don’t want to wear my beer, Amy.”
“You don’t have your beer yet.”
“Damnit.”
“But I’ll take it easy on you. Don’t want you to get all worked up thinking about my sexy ass.”
Beca rolled her eyes to the ceiling. “Thank you, Amy.”
Amy slammed back the rest of her drink and pushed up out of her seat. “Time to see a man about a horse.”
Beca watched her walk away then looked back out at the dance floor, smiling at the rest of her Bellas. They were the biggest knot of people on the dance floor, though, surprisingly, not the loudest. The reunion this year was back at Barden, so there was a bigger than normal turnout, with many former members jumping at the chance to see their old stomping grounds.
Beca smiled as Legacy’s mom showed off her signature move which shifted to laughter when she noticed Emily standing to the side with a slightly horrified and embarrassed expression on her face when Chloe jumped next to her and copied it exactly. Katherine Junk was probably one of the coolest parents she had ever met, though Beca never wanted to make her mad after she’d heard about the chokehold over George Michael.
It was weird, being back on campus and not having to run off to class. Or rehearsal, she thought idly as Stacie and Aubrey swung past her line of sight. She had to admit, she sort of missed the radio station. Not the CD stacking part, but when Luke had finally let her DJ regularly her sophomore year. That she missed. She even, sort of but not really, missed Jesse and his movie chatter. They didn’t get to talk nearly often enough.
“Penny for your thoughts.” Cynthia Rose dropped down on her left and Beca smiled.
“Hey. Nothing, really. Just thinking of what it’s like being here and not having to…” her fingers waved through the air. “Rush anywhere. Do anything. Be…”
“Responsible? So tired you can’t see straight?” Cynthia Rose paused. “Not like that last was a problem for me, exactly.”
Beca nodded and laughed. “Exactly. Adulting is weird.” Her beer arrived and she dropped enough money on the tray to cover a generous tip. “They just… turn you loose. Like you’re just… ready. Done baking. Go forth into the world, young student.” She shook her head. “I so wasn’t ready.”
“You seemed to have landed on your feet.”
Beca smiled again, softer this time. “I got lucky.” Cynthia Rose snorted. “Not like that, perv.” But she grinned with her. “I knew I had you guys if I stumbled. Even if I’d had to do it without those 3 lunatics I drove across the country with. I knew I had support, even from my dad, there at the end.”
“Married life mellowed you, Becs.” Cynthia Rose told her. “This is the longest, most positive thing I have ever heard you say.”  Her expression turned sly. “Except when Stacie recited that speech you made to Aubrey on her birthday.” She laughed when Beca pushed on her shoulder.
Beca picked at the label on her beer, but continued. “I also got lucky with my job. This could have been a lot harder than it was.” She sipped from her bottle. “Should have been harder. So, I’m grateful to all you aca-bitches for not kicking me to the curb when I was an insufferable…”
“Smart ass? Cynthia Rose raised an eyebrow. “Tiny dictator who made us all run laps when she was in a bad mood?”
“That all works.” Beca tipped her bottle at her. “Legacy always said her mom told her that kind of stuff all the time. ‘The Bellas will be your family.’ I was so glad that she wasn’t wrong. And that my… fear? That seems to fit my main emotion our senior year… didn’t cause us to lose the chance for upcoming generations to be Bellas.”
“Well, most of that was Muffgate, but… I get what you mean, though I didn’t think of that until we were at Worlds.” Cynthia Rose sat back in her chair. “I thought I knew. But it took seeing all the other Bellas there, ready to give their all for us, who almost lost it all over a stupid mistake, before I realized, really realized, what we had become.”
Beca said it with her. “Family.”
“That’s beautiful.”
Cynthia Rose and Beca both jumped at the new voice and looked to their left. Cynthia Rose put her hand on her heart. “Lilly! Jesus! Where did you come from, girl?!”
Beca tried to stop her own pulse from racing. “I’ve given up asking. She just kind of… appears.” It was also usually the only time Lilly’s voice was audible without leaning closer than you really wanted to. Lilly smiled, like she knew what Beca was thinking. ‘Oh god, have you been a mind reader all this time? I’m so sorry for all the dirty thoughts I have ever had about Chloe when you’re around!’
Lilly just stared at her before she looked away, saying something Beca couldn’t hear this time. She looked over at Cynthia Rose who was closer.
“She asked about TWA™ and if she showed up this year.” Her eyes cut right and looked back at Beca. “And then something about having plastic sheeting stashed in the basement at the Bella house if we need it.”
Beca swallowed hysterical laughter. “No, she’s not here. Stacie says it’s because she’s afraid of me. Apparently my rant that first year was noticed.”
Cynthia Rose cocked her head and gave Beca a Look. “It was in the middle of the bar, at full volume, after your fifth drink. You jumped on your chair and yelled - I’m going to paraphrase here – ‘Where is That Whore Alice™? Bitch is a hoor’ – which you totally pronounced that way, Becs – ‘and I’m going to punch her in the tits for being mean to my best friends for three years.’”
Beca smirked. “Yeah that. Stacie heard from Aubrey that it got around, and may have scared her off.”
“Good. Though, if you need some help.” Cynthia Rose leaned forward. “I know people.”
Beca growled. “To take out the trash? Psh, nah.”
“Trash?”
Beca looked up as Jessica and Ashley took seats across the table, Jessica smiling after her question. Before she could answer, arms wrapped around her neck. She wondered what it meant that she knew it was Stacie by the size of the boobs against the back of her head as a chin rested on the top of it. “If Beca’s talking about trash at a Bellas reunion, we’re talking about That Whore Alice™.”
Flo walked past Stacie and sat down at the table. “In my country, the man that bought her would be trying to get his goat back.”
Beca laughed then patted the arms looped in front of her. “Aw, Stace. You do get me.”
“Stop sweet talking me when our wives are out of earshot.” Beca felt Stacie jump after a sharp smacking sound. ”Oops.”
“Sweetie, stop sweet talking Beca when your wife walks into earshot.” Aubrey took the seat on Beca’s right. “You know it makes Beca adorably flustered.”
Stacie shrugged around Beca’s head. “She is cute when she’s flustered.”
Beca just grinned and watched as the rest of her Bellas found spots at the table, dragging over chairs as necessary. Amy came back with a half empty bottle of tequila and a stack of red Solo cups.
“Oh god, no. Amy. Not…” Beca trailed off as the rest of them cheered. “I mean. Yay.”
Stacie kissed her cheek. “C’mon Becs, it’ll be like old times.” She let Beca go and pulled a chair over beside Aubrey.
“If I puke in the bushes ‘like old times’ someone is going to pay.”  Beca noticed a look flash between Legacy and Cynthia Rose, whose eyebrow went up just a fraction. She hoped she’d remember to ask Legacy about it later but the outlook wasn’t good now that Amy was pouring ‘shots’ into the cups. They looked overly generous to be legitimately called ‘shots’.
“Don’t worry; I’ll hold your hair.” Chloe’s voice whispered in her ear before she settled herself on Beca’s lap, who immediately wound an arm around Chloe’s hip to hold her in place. “Again.”
“Thanks babe.”
As Amy passed out the drinks, Mrs. Junk (because really, Beca couldn’t call her anything else) came up. “Ooooh, tequila!” When Amy passed her a cup, she gave it to Legacy who gaped. “What? Don’t be shocked. You turn 21 soon enough. One won’t kill you.” The rest of the Bellas cheered as Amy poured another one for her. “I know this isn’t your first drop of alcohol, Em. I’m your mother, not blind.”
“It’s my first tequila?” Emily squeaked out. “If it helps?”
Once everyone had their cups, they all looked at Beca. She raised her glass, feeling love rising over her like a wave from all directions.
“Bellas for life!”
“BELLAS FOR LIFE!”
Beca shook her head and tossed the shot back, thinking that she almost didn’t have this in her life.
How stupid she’d been.
“Gross!” Emily stuck out her tongue. “Why would you ever…” She gulped the water her mother handed her.
How very lucky.

Oh! Are you still doin prompts? Can you do one with Beca naked on her room. Nothing sexual, she's just too lazy to put on clothes, maybe because it's too hot and maybe Chloe went home early and saw Beca asleep naked. I dunno, up to you :) love your fics btw!
Hey, thanks for the prompt! I’m definitely still excepting and writing them :) I hope you like your story, anon! I kinda forgot about the part where Beca was supposed to be asleep when Chloe got home, so she’s not, but I tried to stay as close to the prompt as I could :) I hope you’ll like it!
Shit. That’s Beca’s only thought when she realizes that she once again was too lazy this morning to do something about her laundry. She really, really should have done that, because she didn’t even have clean clothes in the first place. Great. She really annoys herself sometimes. She just got out of the shower and there’s seriously nothing she can wear. Plus, now she has a wet towel too.
She stares at the clock and realizes that it’s only 6pm. Chloe won’t be home until at least another two hours (she has an evening shift today), and god knows where Amy is, but she most likely won’t show up at all today, so she might as well wear nothing for now.
It’s surprisingly comfortable actually, the not wearing any clothes thing. She’d do this more often if she didn’t have two roommates that were around a lot. Because she’s pretty sure she’d scar them for life. However, for some reason, it feels really awkward to sit on the couch like this, and their dinner table is even worse, so her only option is to sit on the bed. She doesn’t get under the covers, because it feels weird, plus it’s pretty hot in their apartment. It’s a little strange still, and she’s suddenly even more aware that she shares this bed with her best friend, who she’s had a crush on for years.
Still, she tries to forget about it as she gets herself a beer from the fridge (hoping it will help her feel a little more at ease), then moves back to the bed and reaches for her laptop, ready to do some work. She puts the headphones on her ears and just like that, she has forgotten about her lack of clothes.
Chloe is pleasantly surprised when her boss tells her she can go home earlier today. Apparently, they scheduled in too many people and he’s told her to go home. She works too much anyways. She doesn’t mind it, the long hours. It’s better than sitting at home and having to watch Beca work on her music or do.. well, basically anything. Because she’ll want to kiss her, and she can’t.
Still, she’s relieved today, because she’s exhausted and really all she wants to do is go home and sleep. She sends her best friend a text, saying that she’ll be home around 6:45, but she doesn’t get a response. Beca must be working on her music already.
Out of all the things she expected to see when she walked into the apartment, Beca sitting on their bed naked is the least of them. Still, that’s what she finds. She stands there for a second, just staring, because Beca hasn’t seen or heard her yet, until she makes a sudden move that Beca can apparently see from the corner of her eye, and then suddenly she’s pushing her laptop off her of her – which really doesn’t make it any better because she can now see everything – and then dives under the covers.
“Dude! What the hell are you doing?” Beca yelps once she’s fully covered.
“Uh. I could ask you the same thing.”
“I didn’t know you were going to be home so soon.” The brunette answers, realizing her face is probably as red as a tomato by now.
“Yeah, I uh- I got off work earlier. I sent you a text.”
Beca dares to reach for her phone, giving Chloe another quick glance at her chest (she’s a creep and she should really stop staring but then again, can you really blame her?!) before she disappears again. “Oh shit.” Beca then says, having clearly seen the text by now.
“Yeah. So uh- you wanna explain this situation?” Chloe asks as she starts taking off her own coat and putting it on the floor next to the bed, figuring it’s probably best if she keeps herself busy so that she’s not staring at Beca too much.
“It’s not what you think.” Her friend answers, clearly still super embarrassed.
“Really? Because I think that you were too lazy to do laundry, again, so decided that your only other option was to walk around naked.” Chloe says with a teasing smirk.
“Okay, it’s exactly what you think.”
She bursts out into laughter then, because it’s such a Beca thing to do, yet so extremely out of character at the same time. Sure, Beca is lazy sometimes when it comes to washing her clothes, or making sure she eats during the day, but this is also the girl that will blush every single time your shirt lifts even the slightest bit. Beca’s awkward, and if they’d swapped places, she’s sure the brunette would have stormed off. But not without muttering something along the lines of “shit” and “dude why?” and probably “sorry” and then she would have knocked over a bunch of their stuff before leaving.
But their roles aren’t swapped, and Chloe’s not running.
“You could have just borrowed something from my closet, you know.” She says then, honestly wondering why Beca didn’t do that. “I mean,” she then adds bravely, because really.. they don’t have that many lines to cross anymore, “Not that I’m complaining.”
“You’re not? Because it seems like you are.” Beca fires back, her voice surprisingly steady.Chloe laughs, and while she does so she accidentally falls over her coat – the stupid goddamn coat that she just dumped on the floor moments before – and goes diving forward. Of course, of fucking course, she lands right on top of Beca, who lets out a shriek when she suddenly feels all of Chloe pressed against her. The redhead, looking for anything to break her fall, ends up groping Beca’s boob over the blanket.
“Dude.” Beca says, once she realizes that Chloe’s hand is still there even after she has regained her balance. “What is this about?” She asks, gesturing down towards her chest.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to- I just.. I fell.”
“Yeah. I got that.”
There’s an awkward silence between them, and Chloe is not sure what to do.
“So, this got even weirder really fast.” Beca says, just trying to break the sexual tension in the air.
“I mean, I don’t think it’s too weird. The ‘accidentally grabbing your boob thing’ probably wasn’t my best move, but uh- nope. Not complaining. You know that I’m very confident about my own body, I’m just happy to see you feel the same about yours.”
“Oh, I don’t.”
“You don’t?”
“Nah, I’m just really, really tired right now, plus a little tipsy, and I’m kinda praying that this is just a bad dream.”
“It’s not.” Chloe says, to which Beca rolls her eyes.
“I’ve realized. Are you going to stop staring at me?”
“Are you going to put on clothes?”
“Probably not.” She says with a shrug, because honestly, why bother at this point.
“Then I guess I won’t.”
“Does that bother you?”
“Quite the contrary in fact.” Chloe says, winking at Beca before moving to sit next to her on the bed, choosing to stay on top of the covers though.
“Oh.” Beca responds, clearly taken aback a little by Chloe’s forwardness. She knew she was flirting too though, and Chloe was.. well Chloe was Chloe and of course, she’d be flirting with her in this moment. However, it seemed more serious this time. She still had that same teasing smirk on her face, but something in her eyes gave her away. Like she really wasn’t actually joking around when she said that she didn’t mind. And Beca didn’t know what to do with that information.
“You know, maybe I should just put on one of your shirts..” She finally says, after they’ve both been staring at her laptop in silence for a few minutes.
“Whatever you want. It’s nothing I haven’t seen before anyways.”
Beca frowns, suddenly having forgotten what Chloe is talking about. “The shower, Becs, your freshman year.”
“Oh, right.”
“I’ll go get you something.” Chloe says with a soft smile, noticing how uncomfortable Beca suddenly is. The alcohol and tiredness must be wearing off. She walks over towards her closet and pulls out one of her old shirts. She knows Beca likes this one on her, because Amy once sent her a picture of Beca wearing it when she was visiting family for a couple of days. Back then, she hadn’t said anything of course, but it had made her heart beat faster in her chest. Beca wearing her clothes was such a turn on for her, and she couldn’t help but admit that the brunette looked absolutely adorable in them.
She hands Beca the shirt, who stares at it questionably for a little (probably wondering if Chloe knows about the shirt stealing) before she takes it with a muttered ‘thanks’. She sits up in the bed, letting the covers fall down – allowing Chloe one final glance at her body – before quickly slipping on the shirt. It’s already quite long on Chloe, so on her it’s definitely long enough to cover everything that she wants to be covered.
“So, are you happy now?” Beca asks once everything is in place and she dares to look at her friend again.
“I wasn’t the one who was complaining, Becs, in case you forgot.”
The brunette rolls her eyes. “Yeah, but dude, you’re like.. super confident and whatever. Of course you don’t care about that stuff.”
Chloe chuckles. “You honestly think that I would have done the same thing if I had been Aubrey or whatever?”
Beca shrugs in response. “Uh, yeah?”
“You’re an idiot Becs. I mean, you’re a cute idiot, but you’re an idiot. You think that if I walked in on Aubrey like that I would have been as flustered as I was? You think I would not have been able to drag my eyes away from her because she’s just so beautiful. You think I would have encouraged her not to put on a shirt?”
“I’m guessing from the way you’re saying this the answer is no.”
“At least you got that right,” She says with a smile. “Bec, listen, I’m not trying to make you even more uncomfortable, but I like you. Like, I really like you. I just want you to know that it’s okay if you don’t like me back. I can live with that, I mean, I have been living with that. Your friendship just means so much to me and I could never lose that. I just.. I had to tell you. So if you just want me to go right now I can probably find another place to-“
“Chloe.”
“Yeah?”
“Stop talking right now.”
Beca pushed forward and pressed her lips against Chloe’s. The redhead was clearly surprised for a second or two, but then started kissing her back passionately. Beca immediately realized that they really should have done this sooner. Hell, she’s honestly considering never washing her clothes every again anymore. Turns out that sometimes being lazy will have its benefits. She deepens the kiss, letting her tongue trace Chloe’s bottom lip before entering her mouth. It’s amazing.. for three seconds. Chloe pulls back instantly and all too soon for Beca’s liking. Suddenly she feels like she just messed up. Did she go too far by deepening the kiss?
“I’m sorry,” she says, trying to catch her breath, “was that not good?”
Chloe smiles, a little breathless herself. “No.. it uh- it was.. trust me, it so was. It’s just- I’m suddenly a little too aware of how you’re naked underneath that shirt. My shirt, to be specific, which doesn’t help. Also, that doesn’t help either.”
Beca smiles broadly in response, then looks down at her own body. She suddenly understands why the redhead had pulled back. Chloe’s shirt is thin, and it’s pretty easy to tell that the kiss got her a little.. excited.
“Sorry.”
“Once again, not complaining. I just want to do this right, which means that I’d really love to take you out tomorrow, if that’s okay.”
Beca smiles again. “I’d love that.”
The redhead returns her soft smile, leaning in to give Beca a quick peck on her lips.
“Oh and Bec?”
“Yeah?”
“Please forget to do your laundry more often.”
They both laugh, and Beca surprises even herself by rolling over and into Chloe’s arms. She nuzzles her face into her best friend’s neck and exhales contently.
“Is this okay?”
“Perfect.”

Serendipity, chapter 3 (J-hope)
Title: Serendipity Member/Pairing: J-Hope/Hoseok  x Reader Fanfiction type: Genre: Angst, romance. Chapter: 3 Word count: 2,738 Chapter 1 Chapter 2 ============================= The next day, you woke up earlier than usual, which surprised you because Hae-won had kept you up talking on the phone about Namjoon last night. She thought he was cute, but lots of people thought that. Other than that, she didn't know him too well, so you didn't think she would have really thought about him romantically before. He did end up helping her with her math homework, and they watched a movie and had pizza at his place too. She said he seemed kind of flirty, but not in a creepy way. She admitted to flirting back a bit as well, and she said he seemed really charming and charismatic—she didn't think he was a weirdo anymore. It wouldn't bother you if they got together. It's not like he was your brother or anything. When you got to school, you headed straight to your locker to sit and wait until the bell rang. You still had some homework to finish, so it was good that you woke up early and decided to not sleep in any longer. After finishing a couple of questions, you took a quick break to eat the snacks you’d picked up at a convenience store on the way to school. Okay, it definitely wasn't the most nutritious breakfast, but it was better than having nothing at all. Just as you were finishing up the last of the cake, you saw Hoseok enter the hallway, presumably to go wait by his own locker. "Oh, good morning, Y/n," he said, stopping by your locking instead. "Good morning. What are you doing here?" He chuckled. "School." "Early, I mean," you clarified. "I knew what you meant." He sat down next to you. "I get here early sometimes. Not often enough though, since my homeroom teacher yells at me a lot for being late." You laughed. "You live closer than I do." "Are you stalking me?" "No. My dad's taken you home after practice before." "Sure." He flashed a smile. "Math?" he said, looking down at the worksheet in your lap. "Are you any good?" "I'm okay." "You could get Namjoon to help you if you aren't. You talk to him, right?" You nodded. "Yeah. I'll probably talk to him more now since he'll always be benched due to his clumsiness." "Yeah, never a dull moment with him." "He'll probably be busy helping my friend though. She's not good at math and he has a crush on her. You do the math. Literally. No, literally do my math homework for me, please. It's only the second week and we have so much already." "My brain's still in sleep mode. I woke up before my alarm went off. But I can help you after school if you really need it." "Really?" He nodded, then pulled out his phone to check something. Probably his calendar. He clicked and swiped at a few things before answering. "Yeah, today's Wednesday, so I'm free." "Cool, thanks. And as repayment and to express my thanks, I now offer you the gift of the best breakfast food in the world." You pulled the other cake out of your bag and held it up like it was the Holy Grail. He raised an eyebrow. "Breakfast cake?" But he took it after shrugging. "I didn't eat anything anyway. Thanks." You just nodded. "Did you get a good night's sleep? I know you said you were tired yesterday." He shrugged again. "I guess. I was able to get out of bed, even though I woke up early. So, not tired to the point of me not wanting to do anything. But since when is anyone not tired when they first wake up in the morning?" "True. If you get tired, you can fall asleep on my shoulder." "Thanks," he said, laughing. You turned your attention back to your math homework, hoping you'd finish before 8:00, when school would start. * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ When you got to math, you had one problem left to complete. Because Hae-won had hung out with Namjoon yesterday, her worksheet was all filled out, so she let you copy her work. "Thanks," you said, handing her back her paper. "I was working on it this morning. And guess what? Hoseok was here early too. He offered to help me with it after school today." She smiled. "That's kind of funny. Namjoon helped me with my math homework. Hoseok is going to help you with yours. We could go on a double date and it will all be thanks to math," she joked. "But after yesterday, I'm actually getting what we're doing in class. I could show you during lunch. Besides, if we get our homework done early, you can just hang out with Hoseok today. Doing homework would take too much time and it's not that interesting." "I guess. Wanna work on it during lunch?" She nodded. "Mhm. Namjoon will probably be happy. We're supposed to meet up to work on it today, but I don't think he'll have a problem with doing something else." "Something else, huh?" You wiggled your eyebrows at her. "Just kidding." "He is nice though. And he has pretty good taste in music. And his smile is just adorable." You started humming the wedding march. "Again, kidding. But, yeah, you could like someone much worse." "So it's not weird? Whatever this is?" "No. Go for it, if you like him." "Okay." Then she sighed as she saw that the teacher had arrived. "I'm so glad we have science next, so we'll at least get a break from math before we have to do the homework during lunch." You nodded in agreement, then put your homework on the corner of your desk so your teacher could see that you'd completed it. * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ You were going to wait for Hoseok to approach you so you wouldn't seem too eager. Or he could have forgotten. Or maybe he wasn't really being that serious when he offered to help you with your homework. You assumed that maybe he would say hi again, but he'd shown up a little late, so he apologized to your dad and went straight to following his orders. He seemed pretty focused for the rest of practice, probably in case your dad would scold him. After grabbing a drink, he walked over to you to say that he was going to change his clothes, then he walked off quickly. "Hey," he said when he was done. "Ready to work on your homework?" The two of you stood up and started walking towards the parking lot. "I actually finished it during lunch. My friend showed me what to do." "Oh," he said. "I can give you a ride home then, if you want." "Um, sure," you said. Hey, if he didn't suggest hanging out, you definitely weren't going to bring it up. You followed him to his car. On the drive home, he hadn't brought up hanging out, so you didn't say anything either. You didn't see him again until after practice the next day. By this point, Hae-won had already begged you for details about what happened yesterday. But you obviously had none to give, because you only talked to him for a minute or two and then a little bit on the way home. But she quieted down once she saw Hoseok heading over to where you guys were sitting. "Hey," he said. "I thought I'd see you this morning. I got to school early again." "Oh?" Had he been looking forward to it? Then, feeling bold, you said, "Well, if I had your number, I could have told you I was planning on sleeping in later today." You wanted to blush at the cheesiness and the fact that if he wanted to give you his number, he probably would have done it by now. But you didn't think he would turn you down, since people gave their numbers out to people they just met sometimes. And you knew Hoseok way better than a stranger you'd just met. He chuckled. "All you had to do was ask." He took his phone from his pocket and handed it to you. You did the same so he could put his number in your phone, then you switched phones again. "At this rate, you'll have the whole team's numbers in no time." "Huh?" "I saw that you had three already. Namjoon, Seokjin, and Jungkook." "Oh, yeah. I know Seokjin and Jungkook went to my middle school, so that's how I know him." "Ah. I think Seokjin mentioned you before. He said you were really nice." "And?" "What?" "Do you agree with him?" "Yeah, you're nice." He laughed. "What about me?" "Yeah." You both laughed this time, though yours was certainly more out of nervousness. "What else am I supposed to say?" You got a text, so your phone made a noise. "Sorry," you said, picking up your phone to check who sent you a message. It was from Hae-won and all it said was hi, even though she was sitting right next to you. You texted back what? Her response was: It might have been heading into awkward territory haha. Had to save my girl. You almost said thanks out loud, but then you quickly sent it as a text instead, then went back to talking to Hoseok to make sure you didn't come off as rude. "So, the first game's tomorrow. Good luck." "Yeah, good luck," Hae-won added in. "Thanks. It's kind of mean to say, but maybe we'll do better now that Namjoon has a replacement." He cracked up laughing. At the mention of Namjoon's name, Hae-won said, "What's wrong with Namjoon? Is he bad at baseball?" "Not bad, necessarily. He's just clumsy." "How many times do I have to tell you? It's baseball's fault, not mine," Namjoon said, coming up to where you were sitting. "Still hanging out today?" he asked Hae-won. "Mhm." She picked up her bag and, after saying goodbye to you and Hoseok, followed Namjoon off the field. "Are they dating?" Hoseok asked. "I don't think so. She would have told me if they were. They've hung before. He was helping her with her math homework. But, like I said yesterday, he likes her. So, who knows? Maybe they'll be dating soon. She seems to like him too." "I assume he'll take her to the party after the game tomorrow then." "Yup." You wanted to ask if he was going, but then it might seem like you were trying to see if he was going with anyone, so you decided against it. "So, is my dad having another team dinner today? Since the game is tomorrow and all." "Seokjin's having a few people over at his place, since his mom wanted to make something for us. But your dad didn't say anything about having one. He normally would have had it the day before the game, but I think he did it the other day instead because it was Yoongi's birthday and he made us practice in the cold. And I wouldn't expect him to have another one, especially so soon after the last one." He chuckled. "I apologize if your Christmas or birthday or whatever sucks because of us. I know we can eat a lot." "No, it's okay. I mean, I was thinking the same thing, actually. But it's not like he always does it. There are still a little over two months until my birthday, so I think things will be okay." "Oh, when is it?" "May 17th." "Oh. Sort of close to mine. The date, I mean. Mine's February 18th." In your head, you were saying I know, but for a response, you just nodded. "Did you do your math homework again during lunch today?" "No." "You said your friend showed you how to do it though, right?" "Yeah." "Uh...." He bit his lit, trying to think of something to say. "Hey," Seokjin said as he approached Hoseok. He turned to you. "Hey, Y/n." "Hi." "Still coming over later?" Seokjin asked. Hoseok nodded. "I'll see you later?" he asked you. "Yeah. Good luck tomorrow," you said to both of them. * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ Hae-won headed over to your place after she hung out with Namjoon. She wanted to brainstorm some outfits for the party tomorrow, especially since Namjoon said she should go to the party. You wouldn't have expected her to even go to the game, since she didn't know too much about baseball. But she said she was going to go. It would seem a little weird if she didn't go to the game, but showed up at the party that was held in celebration of said game. "He won't even be playing," you joked. "Then he can sit with us and watch it." "Are you going to be one of those couples that does everything together?" "Hey, we're not even dating. I like him and he flirts with me and stuff, but I don't know if he likes me like that. Or if he'd be into anything serious. Besides, he's a senior. He's probably not looking to graduate with a girlfriend. And we've only hung out a few times." "He does like you," you admitted. "How do you know?" "He told me." You snorted. "I knew before you guys even hung out that first time. And besides, even if a guy hangs out with you when he doesn't have a crush on you or anything, it's on his mind anyway. I mean, I think girls kinda do that too." "Since when are you an expert on guys? Did Hoseok text you or something after you guys exchanged numbers?" "No. We talked for a little bit after you left, but then Seokjin came up and said hey, so I left. But, yeah, Namjoon likes you. You don't have to worry." "Well, at least I don't have to go through that awkward 'does he like me?' thing. Unless he takes a while to say anything about it." "I don't think he will. He was flirting with you from day one. He already wanted you to come to the party before you hung out. His crush is so cute." "I know someone else's crush that's so cute." "Stop. Namjoon knows I like Hoseok. He wanted me to convince you to go to the party and was saying he would find some excuse to get me and Hoseok talking." "Maybe he likes you." "I don't know. I think he just likes me as a friend." "But didn't he expect you to be at school early? As in, he was looking forward to it? And you guys were supposed to meet up to do homework? I mean, even though that didn't happen and it's been mostly school-related stuff, I wouldn't completely rule it out." "Let's pick out our outfits." You wanted to change the subject. You really weren't sure about Hoseok. He was probably just being friendly. And it's usually easier to see the signs of attraction in other people's relationships, since you got to look at it with an unbiased perspective, as someone who wasn't swept up in the emotion of it all. With dating (or "hanging out"), people were constantly worrying about embarrassing themselves or coming off as weird, wondering whether it was a just friends kind of thing or if the other person felt some sort of attraction, wondering if they were just trying to have some fun or if they wanted to pursue a relationship. You were just glad that it probably wouldn't have to be as frustrating for Hae-won. "Okay. We can pick out your outfit first since we're at your house and we actually have your clothes right here." She went straight to your closet and started to browse. In no time, she had a few outfits put together, which she laid out on your bed. Sometime during her explanation of why she thought each outfit was a good option, you got a text from Hoseok that said hey. You texted back: Hi. Hoseok: What's up? You: Hanging out with my friend Hae-won. What are you up to? Shouldn't you be sleeping? If you fall asleep tomorrow, my dad will kill you! Just kidding. :) Hoseok: I know, I know. I'm going to sleep soon. Just wanted to say hey to have a conversation going since I feel like people exchange numbers and then never even text or anything since they forget. You: Haha true. Hoseok: Well, good night. Sleep tight. :p You: Thanks, you too. "Who are you texting?" Hae-won asked. "Hoseok. He just wanted to say hey." "Hey? Anything else?" "Just hey. He said he was going to bed soon. And we should too. You don't want to have bags under your eyes tomorrow." You helped her put the clothes back in your closet, then you two got ready for bed as you talked about what kind of outfit she could wear for tomorrow. But, of course, you didn't head straight to bed. She talked about Namjoon some more and brought up Hoseok a few times as well. But you started to doze off, so you don't know how long she continued to talk.

First Date
What? Two fics in one day? Just wait, I’m not done
[AO3]
(ff.net is being ridiculous so I can’t link it lol)
“Chloe!” Beca hissed. “Chloe!”
“What?” Chloe looked up from her textbook.
“Stacie Conrad is looking at you!” Beca said.
“No she’s not.” Chloe said. “Don’t assume things, Beca.”
 “Just look!” Beca insisted.
Chloe sighed. She glanced around the library and spotted Stacie sitting a few tables down from them. When Stacie noticed her looking she winked. Chloe looked away blushing.
 “See?” Beca said.
“Yes I see.” Chloe looked at her textbook.
 “Well?”
 “Well what?”
“What are you going to do?” Beca asked.
“Nothing.” Chloe said. Beca gaped at her. “She’s Stacie, just because she’s looking at me doesn’t mean she wants me to do anything.” Chloe shrugged.
Beca stared at her. People said she was dense, but Chloe was being denser than an overbaked piece of banana bread. Beca looked and saw Stacie heading towards them. Her eyes widened and she quickly pretended to do her homework.
“Chloe!” Beca hissed. “Chloe, Stacie’s c-”
“Hey Chloe.” Stacie said. She leaned on the table and flipped her hair.
Chloe’s head snapped up. “Oh, hi Stacie.”
“Are you free Friday?” Stacie asked.
 “Um, yeah why?” Chloe asked.
“Do you want to go out?” Stacie asked.
“Like a date?” Chloe asked incredulously. She couldn’t believe this was happening.
“Yes. Like a date.” Stacie laughed.
“Uh, yeah, yeah, yes. I-I would like that.” Chloe smiled.
“Awesome. Can I get your number? I’ll text you.” Stacie said.
“Yeah.” Chloe took Stacie’s phone and put her number in. She gave Stacie her phone back. Stacie fiddled with it and Chloe felt her phone vibrate.
“I just texted you so you have my number. I’ll see you around.” Stacie leaned in and kissed Chloe’s cheek. Chloe turned redder than her hair. Stacie smirked and waved. She turned and walked away, purposely swinging her hips. Chloe watched her go.
“Dude!” Beca said when Stacie left. “Stacie Conrad just asked you out!”
“I know!” Chloe squealed. A few heads turned toward them. “I know!” Chloe repeated quieter.
  You look cute today
This was becoming a regular occurrence. This being Stacie texting Chloe telling her she looked cute. Chloe smiled at her phone. The fact that Stacie was thinking about her – thinking she was cute – made Chloe’s heart flutter.
You don’t look too bad yourself
Chloe was really enjoying texting Stacie. Their date was in a couple days and Chloe was worried they would have nothing to talk about. But Chloe learned that she actually has a lot in common with Stacie. They’re both very open people, knew what they want and how to get it, and were always unabashedly themselves. What surprised Chloe most was probably their shared loved of music. She never met anyone who could talk so passionately about music, except herself and maybe Beca. Stacie seemed to ‘get’ her, and Chloe was very much looking forward to their date.
 Thanks ;)
Chloe considered herself a very savvy texter. She enjoyed the challenge of getting her point across without using her body language or tone of voice. She was very skilled at texting, as had been pointed out to her on multiple occasions. But Stacie could make her insides feel like mush with just a few words, or a winky face emoji, which Stacie seemed to enjoy using. Chloe’s not used to feeling the way she does about Stacie, she’s usually the one flustering others, not the other way around.
As much as I appreciate you noticing how cute I look you should be focussing on class right now
Chloe put her phone down, expecting Stacie not respond to her. Instead Stacie responded almost instantly.
 Shouldn’t you?
Chloe didn’t have an answer to that. She couldn’t tell Stacie to focus on class if she wasn’t. But, Stacie texted her first, it wasn’t Chloe’s fault that Stacie made her feel warm and fuzzy inside. It was Stacie’s fault. Probably.
 You are very distracting
It wasn’t a lie. Stacie did distract Chloe, just not on purpose. Chloe was an observant person and lately the only thing she wanted to observe was Stacie. Stacie moved and breathed with such confidence that Chloe believed it had to be fake. But as Chloe spent time observing Stacie she found a realness unable to be faked. The arrogance she possessed Chloe would find absolutely infuriating on anyone else, but with Stacie, Chloe found it endearing. Chloe found herself thinking about Stacie pretty much constantly. She tried to pay attention in her classes but she always ended up thinking about how nice Stacie’s hair looked that day, or how her shorts showed off her long legs. Chloe was only human, it was hard to not think about Stacie.
 So are you
But, if Stacie thought about Chloe as much as Chloe thought about her, then her daydreams would be perfectly justified. It’s one thing to imagine having Stacie Conrad liking you, it was another to have her actually like you.
 Thanks ;)
Two can play at this game, Chloe thought. If Stacie wanted to flirt with her over text, then Chloe would flirt back. See how Stacie liked it.
Its only because you’re prettier than Mr. Anderson
Chloe smiled. Mr. Anderson was the history teacher. No one knew exactly how old he was, but everyone said he was close to retiring. But he’s been close to retiring for as long as he’s worked there. He was nice, but he tended to drone on about history facts no one cared about. Most kids dozed off in his class, the rest were on their phones. Only a handful of students in the whole school actually listened to him.
Well you’re more interesting than Mrs. Nelson
Mrs. Nelson was the English teacher. She had only worked at Barden for a few years, but all the students knew and liked her. She was notorious for showing movies in her class rather than actually teaching.
 What movie are you watching
 Romeo and Juliet
Romeo and Juliet was Mrs. Nelson’s favourite play. She showed the movie at least once a month. When the freshman were studying it she would make excuses to pop by their classes and join in their discussions.
The bell rang and Chloe gathered her stuff and headed to her locker. It was lunch and she promised she’d help Beca study for her math test. Beca was hopeless in math, and Chloe was more than happy to help. She met Beca at her locker.
 “Ready to go?” Chloe asked.
“Yep, just one sec.” Beca grabbed her textbook and closed her locker. They walked to the library and sat at one of the tables. Beca started doing a couple of questions, occasionally asking Chloe to explain something. Chloe felt her phone vibrate in her pocket. She checked it and saw a text from Stacie.
You’re not in the caf :(
 Nope. Library
Chloe looked up and noticed Beca’s confused expression and went to help her.
 “What’s up?” Chloe asked.
Beca pointed at her page. “Where the hell did that four come from? Why is there a four?” Beca pouted.
Chloe smiled at Beca’s antics. She started explaining the problem to Beca. Beca groaned and thumped her head on her book.
“Chloe I am so done. My mind is done for the day.” Beca said.
“Beca, just skip this question, do the others. You need to pass this test.” Chloe said.
“Fine.” Beca begrudgingly started working again.
Chloe checked her phone for Stacie’s latest text.
I was hoping to see you
Chloe grinned widely. She eagerly texted Stacie back.
 You can come see me
Chloe wanted to see Stacie too. They only have one class together and they don’t sit near each other.
Nah I’ll just see you later ;)
Chloe shook her head. She didn’t know when Stacie thought she would see her. They didn’t share a class in the afternoon and Chloe had choir after school.
 When? Tomorrow?
Chloe knew Stacie would text her tonight. She always did. It was routine at this point.
 Trust me
“How’s your girlfriend?” Beca’s voice startled Chloe.
 “Huh?” Chloe asked
“Your girlfriend. How is she?” Beca asked.
“She’s not my girlfriend.” Chloe said. “And she’s fine.” Chloe wanted Stacie to be her girlfriend but she knew to at least wait until their date to ask her that.
“Yeah okay.” Beca smirked. “I think you’re phone says otherwise.”
“We haven’t even been on a date yet Beca. I can’t call her my girlfriend yet.” Chloe said.
“But you want to, right?” Beca said. Chloe loved Beca, she really did, but Beca needed things to be spelled out for her to understand them.
“Yes Becs I do.” Chloe said.
“Stacie!” Stacie looked at her best friend Aubrey. “Are you even listening?”
“Yeah, of course. You said…” Stacie trailed off.
“Ugh!” Aubrey threw her hands up in exasperation. “You said you wanted to study, but you keep looking at your damn phone.”
“Sorry, what were you saying?” Stacie tried to look apologetic but it didn’t work.
Aubrey huffed. “I was saying that balancing equations probably won’t be a large part of the test but…”
Stacie tuned Aubrey out again. She was thinking about Chloe. Chloe was cute, Stacie liked her. She was looking forward to their date and hoped Chloe would like it. Stacie was nervous. She wasn’t used to being nervous, usually it was the other person who was nervous for their dates. Stacie really wanted Chloe to like her. Sure, they’ve been texting, but texting is different than face to face talking. Stacie could flirt her way through anything but when it comes to just talking, Stacie is a nerd. She loves science, and space, and classic novels. She’s not very cool when she’s being honest.
The bell rang and Stacie and Aubrey packed their things and headed to their next class. Stacie dropped her books off and told the teacher she was going to the bathroom. She didn’t, instead she went to Chloe’s class. She walked in without knocking, class hadn’t technically started yet. She walked over to Chloe’s desk and saw the students around quiet down, trying to eavesdrop. Chloe looked shocked to see Stacie.
“Stacie! What are you doing?” Chloe asked.
“I said I was going to see you.” Stacie shrugged. “Is that okay?”
Chloe smiled. “Of course that’s okay. But you should go to class.”
“Class hasn’t started.” As Stacie spoke the bell rang.
Chloe raised her eyebrows. Stacie sighed, she leaned in and kissed Chloe’s cheek. Stacie shifted slightly and whispered in Chloe’s ear, “I don’t want to leave, I want to stay here and kiss you.” Chloe gasped. Stacie smiled and pressed another kiss to Chloe’s cheek. “But I’ll wait until after our date. Is that okay?”
Chloe blushed and nodded quickly. Stacie smiled. She stood up and waved. She turned and walked out. She stood outside for a moment with the biggest smile. She shook her head to try to clear it before walking to class.
“Do I look okay?” Stacie asked for what seemed like the millionth time.
“Yes, you look fine.” Aubrey said.
“I don’t want to look fine, I want to be perfect, it has to be perfect.” Stacie began pulling at her shirt and hair. “I don’t want to look stupid.”
“Stacie.” Stacie looked at Aubrey nervously. “When have you ever looked stupid? Never. And everything will be perfect, you look perfect, the date will be perfect. Calm down.”
“Right.” Stacie took a deep breath. “What if she hates it?”
 “She won’t.”
 “What if she-”
“Stacie.” Aubrey grabbed Stacie’s shoulders. “She’ll love it. You are going to go out and have an amazing time and Chloe will love it and she’ll love you and you’ll probably make out with her all night.”
Stacie smiled. “Thanks Bree.” Stacie looked in the mirror and fixed her hair. “Are you sure I look okay?”
“Are you sure I look okay?” Chloe turned and faced Beca.
“You look great Chlo. You’ll knock ‘em dead.” Beca said without looking up from her phone.
“You’re a nerd.” Chloe stuck her tongue out at Beca. “But, seriously, do I look okay? Is my hair stupid? Is my shirt weird? Is my face weird?”
“You look fine Chloe. Stacie will love it.” Beca said.
Chloe bounced on the balls of her feet. “I’m really nervous.”
“Really? I couldn’t tell.” Beca said sarcastically.
“Shut up.” The doorbell rang. “Oh my god it’s her! Do I look okay?”
“Yes!” Beca pushed Chloe out of the room. “Now get the door!”
Chloe rushed to the door and flung it open. Her breath caught in her throat when she saw Stacie. Stacie looked amazing. If Chloe wasn’t nervous before she was now.
“Wow, Stacie you look… wow.” Chloe blushed at her inability to form words.
“Same to you.” Stacie wiped her hands on her jeans. “Ready to go?”
“Of course.” Chloe followed Stacie to her car. Stacie opened the door for her. “Chivalry isn’t dead I see?”
 “No way.” Stacie smiled.
“So where are we going?” Chloe asked.
 “You’ll see.”
Chloe started fiddling with the radio.
“Don’t like the song?” Stacie smirked. Chloe glared at her. “Here, one sec.” Stacie plugged her phone in and started playing music. “Better?”
 “Much.” Chloe smiled.
Stacie drove them past the city limits, ignoring Chloe’s quizzical glances as she turned on a dirt road. Stacie pulled over next to a field and looked nervously at Chloe.
“We’re here.” Stacie got out of the car and grabbed a picnic basket from the trunk.
Chloe followed Stacie into the field. “If I didn’t know any better I’d say you brought me here to kill me.” She said.
 “Who said I didn’t?”
Stacie laid a blanket down by the edge of the field that overlooked the city. She sat down and patted the spot beside her. Chloe sat down and gasped when she saw the view.
“Stace, it’s beautiful.” Stacie nodded in agreement. “How did you know this was here?”
Stacie shrugged. “I come here sometimes. There’s less light pollution so you can see the stars better here.”
“Do you look at the stars often?” Chloe asked.
“I guess, they’re pretty cool.” Stacie cleared her throat. “I didn’t know what kind of sandwich you liked so I made a variety. There’s ham, PB and J, chicken, and there’s a veggie and cheese one if you don’t like meat or whatever. And I brought juice boxes.”
 “PB and J is fine.”
Stacie handed her a sandwich and a juice box and grabbed a ham sandwich and a juice box for herself.
They chatted while they ate, mostly about school and family.
Stacie jumped up suddenly. She held her hand out to Chloe.
 “Dance with me.” She said.
Stacie pulled Chloe up and wrapped her arms around Chloe’s waist. They swayed to the music playing softly from Stacie’s car. Chloe laid her head on Stacie’s chest.
“This is really sweet Stace.” Chloe said.
 Stacie smiled. “You’re really sweet.”
Chloe looked up at Stacie. Stacie pressed their foreheads together and closed her eyes.
“Stacie,” Chloe whispered. Stacie hummed. “Stacie, I want to kiss you, is that okay?”
Stacie opened her eyes. “That’s totally okay.”
Chloe leaned in and pressed her lips to Stacie’s. Her hand curled around Stacie’s neck as the kiss deepened. Stacie was as amazing at kissing as she was at academics and Chloe felt like she could die right there. Stacie’s hands tightened on Chloe’s waist and pulled her closer. Chloe let out a moan before she could stop it. Stacie pulled away. She was breathing heavily.
“I want to keep kissing you,” She kissed Chloe’s jaw, “But, if I do, I’ll want to do more than just kiss you,” She kissed Chloe’s cheek, “And I don’t want to move too fast, because this is special. You’re special. I don’t want to ruin this with sex, or make it seem like a one-night stand. This is more than that to me, and it terrifies me because I’ve never felt like this before.” Stacie buried her face in Chloe’s neck.
“This is more than that for me too.” Chloe kissed Stacie’s temple. “And I’m scared too.”
They swayed with the music for a few minutes. Stacie looked up at the sky for a few moments before pointing at the stars.
“Look, can you see the Big Dipper right there?” Stacie asked. Chloe nodded. “Can you see the bright star in the handle? That’s Mizor. Alcor, its companion, is that faint star beside it. They’re the first double stars ever seen with a telescope. Astronomers first thought they were just two stars, but actually, Mizor is four stars and Alcor is two stars, so they’re actually six stars.” Stacie coughed and looked away.
“That’s really cool Stace. You know a lot about space.” Chloe said.
“Yeah, it’s cool.” Stacie blushed. “It’s boring, I’m just… you know, whatever.”
“I don’t think it’s boring.” Chloe said, “I’m actually a little glad that you’re interested in more than just sex and flirting.”
 Stacie laughed. “Good.”
They danced for a while before Chloe yawned. Chloe smiled sheepishly at Stacie.
“Sorry, I must be more tired than I thought.” Chloe said.
Stacie kissed Chloe’s forehead. “It’s okay, it’s getting late, I’ll drive you home.”
 “Okay.”
They packed up their stuff and put it in the car. Stacie took Chloe’s hand as she drove. Stacie could see Chloe looking at her out of the corner of her eye. She smiled and squeezed Chloe’s hand. Stacie started singing softly. Chloe closed her eyes and enjoyed the sound of Stacie’s voice.
Stacie pulled up in front of Chloe’s house. She looked over at Chloe and noticed she was asleep. Stacie smiled at how cute she was. She nudged Chloe awake.
“Chloe, we’re at your house, you gotta wake up babe.” Stacie said.
Chloe opened her eyes. “Oh my goodness.” She blushed. “I didn’t mean to fall asleep.”
Stacie leaned over and kissed Chloe. “It’s okay. Just, next time I’ll plan something more exciting to keep you awake.”
 “Next time?”
“Yeah, if that’s alright. I really like you.” Stacie said.
“I really like you too.” Chloe kissed Stacie again. “Bye, I’ll see you later.”
Chloe got out of the car. Stacie got out too and walked over to Chloe’s side of the car. Chloe raised her eyebrows at her.
“What?” Stacie asked. “Am I not allowed to walk you to your door?”
Chloe took Stacie’s hand and they walked to Chloe’s door. Chloe laughed lightly when they stopped in front of her door.
“So… I had a nice time.” Chloe said.
“So did I.” Stacie said. “This was the best walk I’ve ever had.”
Chloe lightly hit Stacie. “This is the part where you kiss me goodbye and I go inside and pretend that I’m not watching you walk back to your car then call my friends and tell them everything.”
“Maybe I want you to kiss me goodbye.” Stacie said.
Chloe smirked. “Well, in that case…” Chloe leaned in until her lips were barely touching Stacie’s. “I might make you work for it.” Chloe whispered. She pulled back and kissed Stacie cheek.
Stacie pushed her against the door and kissed her hard.
“It’s not nice to tease.” Stacie said. Stacie stepped back and opened the door. “Bye Chloe.”
“Bye Stacie.” Chloe smiled. She went inside and leaned against the door after it closed. Chloe looked back and saw Stacie walking to her car. She waited until Stacie drove away to grab her phone and call Beca.

title: Not A Fan
It was a Friday night and in the middle of the UNI semester - and Isak was stuck being dragged to a local concert by Eva, and despite all his whining and begging, she was not going to let him slip back to his study hole - AKA his room.
"Isak! Stop whining!" Eva huffs as they reach the doors of the venue, finally letting go of Isak's arm that is now numb from the pulling and squeezing. "You need to get out for a bit! Have some fun!"
"I don't even listen to this band, Eva," Isak excuses but Eva brushes it aside.
"Isak. I'm literally paying for you to get into the venue, it's a big deal! Stop being such a grump and have some fucking fun!"
Isak scowls as they stand in the queue - and despite this being a small gig at a bar, they're taking this pretty seriously. Especially Eva. Isak can practically see her jumping out of her skin and she's itching to get into the bar - Isak, on the other hand, is pouting as he stands behind Eva, his arms crossed and he's glaring at his surroundings and he can see the ecstatic people around him, he's just not getting the vibe.
"Eva, really. I need to get home and study-"
"Isak, they're opening the doors! Come on, come on! Let's fucking go already! You can study later!" Eva exasperates, tugging Isak forward by his jacket and all Isak can do at this point is roll his eyes, letting the annoyance build up a ball in his stomach as everyone flows into the bar, the lights dim and there's smoke already surrounding the stage. Eva leads them both forward, calling up the bartender as she asks for a couple drinks for her and Isak. "Isn't this great? We're gonna get drinks, and we're gonna have a nice time, and you're gonna be glad you came with me!"
Isak scoffs at Eva's words, shaking his head as the bartender serves up their drinks in front of them. Eva speaks up again after a sip of her drink. "You're gonna be hungover tomorrow, mark my words!"
"Eva," Isak sighs, pinching the bridge of his nose. "Just because I let you drag me here doesn't mean I'm going to get drunk."
Eva laughs in disbelief, shrugging off Isak's words. "You're lying! You're going to be so shitfaced once the night is over, and you're gonna go back to the flat and download all their songs and be glued to them for five years."
"I highly doubt that."
Eva grins as she knocks back the rest of her drink, grabbing Isak's hand just as he takes the first sip of his own and she drags him up to the very front of the stage where the speakers are set and the mics are standing tall in front of them and Isak has a nervous feeling building up in his stomach as Eva jitters next to him.
"Do we really have to be this close to the stage?" Isak says, leaning down so Eva can hear him over the loud music that's already playing.
"Why not?" Eva questions, raising a tentative eyebrow at Isak.
"It's going to be really fucking loud, that's why," Isak complains, attempting to drag Eva back into the middle of the room.
Eva stomps her foot, causing them both the halt and she pouts, crossing her arms and she glares at Isak, "I swear to God, Isak, stop being such a whine baby and just try to have a good time!"
"Eva, I told you a million times before we got here that I didn't want to come."
"I told you million times I didn't want to go by myself and then you basically handed yourself over! So, technically, you agreed to come with me anyways!"
"Did fucking not!"
"Did to!"
Isak blows out a harsh breath as he walks back up to Eva's side, his arms crossed as everyone begins to shuffle around them to find a good spot to enjoy the show and Isak would be more than happy to give up his spot by Eva's side but to just to show how much of a good friend he is, he stays. Half in hopes of seeing a cute guy, or even better, being whisked away by a cute guy and have the opportunity to make up a shit excuse for Eva later - but he stays. And thus, the show begins, and Isak just glances up for a split second to see what he's getting himself into when his eyes land upon the lead guitarist and he swears he can at least remember his name, but at the sight of the hottest boy he's ever laid eyes on it has slipped his mind in the time he needs it most. No fucking wonder Eva is so obsessed with this band.
Isak quickly glances away when the guy looks down at him, offering a wink and he can feel his face heat up because seriously? It's a strong possibility he wasn't winking at Isak, right? He was probably sending that wink out to the dozens of girls who would fall to their knees for this gorgeous boy.
The night of torture begins, slowly but surely, but Isak keeps his eyes trained on the guitarist the whole time and it's got Isak mesmerized. The way his hair sort of falls into his eyes as he strums that perfect, blue - mostly teal - guitar and how his mouth is kind of just agape as he concentrates on the strumming and the beat and it has Isak floored - completely awed. The way the sweat catches onto the stage lights and glistens and how Isak is allowed a split second of seeing his hair sticking to his forehead and Isak thinks that maybe, just maybe, this night might not be so bad.
-
As the band excuses themselves off stage for a couple minutes, allowing themselves a break, Isak feels his shoulders relax as Eva cheers beside him, clapping as loud as she possibly can as the band walks themselves off stage and he tugs on her shirt a bit, drawing her attention to him.
"I'm gonna go get a drink, is that cool?" Isak asks and Eva nods, digging through her purse for the money Isak needs and she hands it over, giving him a wide and bright smile as Isak saunters back to the bar, plopping himself in one of the bar stools as he beckons the bartender over. He requests his drink - a simple beer - and just as the bartender walks off someone huffs beside him, sitting themselves in the stool next to him and it causes Isak to jump but he keeps his eyes trained on the liquor rack behind the bar. A couple seconds go by before Isak allows himself to peek over at the guy sitting next to him, and as soon as his eyes catch the familiar dirty blonde streaks of hair he almost falls out of the chair - it's the lead guitarist of the fucking band.
If only Eva was here now.
Isak clears his throat, licking his lips as he watches the guy's eyes flicker over to him for a split second and he can feel the tip of his ears heat up, along with his cheeks as the guy next to him clears his throat - and this time, when Isak looks over, the guy is fully facing him and a grin is on his face.
"Hey," the guy says, the grin staying as Isak swallows hard, turning his head to face him.
"Um... hi?"
"I saw you in the crowd when the show started but you didn't look impressed. Not enough to drink beforehand?" The guy asks, raising a questioning eyebrow.
"I, uh- no. I'm not... particularly fond of this band, I guess. I was dragged here by a friend."
"The girl you were standing next to the whole time?" Isak gives him a nod, "Well, if you don't like our music why did you come?"
"To be a good friend."
The guy hums, nodding his head a bit to Isak's reply and Isak sighs, chugging down his drink as soon as the bartender sets it in front of him which earns a chuckle from the guitarist sitting next to him and he raises an eyebrow in his direction, setting down his glass.
"I'm Even, by the way. Lead guitarist of the band."
"Oh, I know!" Isak pipes up, then he instantly bites and swallows down his words and feels utterly stupid at how loud they were. "I mean- yeah- I know who you are."
Even grins. "So you do know the band?"
Isak sighs, shrugging. "A bit."
"Interesting."
"What is?"
When Isak turns to look at Even again, his stomach flips as he finds him smirking at him, his eyes sort of squinted as if he's studying Isak and above that, he's biting his lower lip.
And above all of that, he's driving Isak mad.
"You knowing about our band but not liking it, yet here at a gig. It's interesting," Even explains, giving a shrug as he picks up his own drinking, taking a small sip.
Isak guffaws, shaking his head as he turns away from Even and he quickly changes up the subject. "Don't you guys have, like, your own mini fridge backstage?"
Even laughs loudly, his shoulders shaking as he does so as he shakes his head. "No, we don't," he laughs again but quieter this time, "we're a small band and this is a small gig. We're not given that luxury."
Isak licks his lips, the sound of Even's trilling laugh sending butterflies erupting in his stomach as he glances at him, "I guess... that really sucks, then."
Even gives a shrug, "Kind of does," Isak's lips twitch up in the corners in a small smile as he looks over at Even again, catching him already looking and taking all of Isak in and Isak can feel his blush get hotter as Even clears his throat and Isak switches his gaze from Even to the bottom of his glass. "Listen, I gotta get back to the stage. The next set starts in three minutes."
Isak gives a small nod as Even sets some money down on the table for his drink but Isak notices that's it's a bit too much for what he bought and when he brings it up to Even before he walks off, all Even does is smirk and give him a wink and all Isak can think is - did this guy just fucking pay for his drink?
And sure enough, he did.
Isak is so fucked.
-
When the last set closes up, Isak can feel the music still pumping through his veins - partially from the alcohol from also from the rush of the gig and Isak admits to himself that yes, he did have some fun.
As Isak and a giggly Eva make their way to the doors, Isak feels a tug on his shoulder which causes him to spin, his arm still draped around Eva's shoulders which causes them to spin at the same time and before Isak can even blink to take in who's in front of him, Eva is squealing.
"Oh, my God! Even Bech fucking Næsheim! The lead fucking guitarist! Holy- fuck. Wow. Holy fuck. Hi!" Eva exclaims and Isak is immediately embarrassed at the drunk and crazy mess that Eva has become.
Even chuckles but his eyes don't leave Isak until he addresses Eva, giving her a pat on her shoulder, "Hi! You must be a big fan!"
"Hell yeah! The gig tonight was amazing!"
"Thanks for coming! It's nice to meet some of the fan base," Even winks at Isak which Eva catches onto quickly, giving them both a strange look but she doesn't push it further. "I was wondering if I could steal your friend Isak here for a minute or so?"
"Isak?" Eva giggles, tilting her head. "What do you want to deal with this big grump?"
Isak rolls his eyes at the comment but the sound of Even's laugh brings him back to a content state of mind, causing him to brush off the remark.
"Him and I became pretty close tonight during the break between sets at the bar."
"Isak! You met Even at the bar and didn't tell me! What the fuck!"
Isak shrugs, "Do you see how you're acting right now?"
Eva gives him a shove, "Piss off, but you know what? Even, you can have him. Take him. I'm going to Noora's for the night, her place is closer. Have fun you two," as Eva walks off to the doors, she calls back one last time. "Isak! Make sure to get his autograph for me!"
Isak gives a wave, calling back to Eva, "Will do!"
When Eva stumbles her way out of the bar, Isak allows himself a small laugh as he turns to Even, crossing his arms, "So. What do you need me for?"
Even's grin is mysterious as he takes Isak's hand in his own, pulling back towards the stage, "I thought I could give you VIP access and show you back stage."
"Isn't the rest of your band back there?"
"No, they ditched me to get McDonalds."
Isak laughs, eagerly following Even to wherever this is going to lead to, "McDonalds? Wow."
Even shrugs. "I thought spending this time with you would be better than eating french fries."
Isak's skin tingles as Even squeezes his hand a bit, following him up a few steps onto the stage and behind the small curtain on the left of the stage and he's instantly welcomed with the smell of cigarette smoke and papers everywhere and he feels his mouth fall open as he takes in the room, a small 'wow' escaping him as he looks around.
"Pretty neat, right?" Even asks, breaking Isak from his trance and Isak gives a quick nod.
"Yeah, wow. Really neat."
Even grins, sitting himself on the small leather couch that's against the wall on the other side of the room and he pulls a pack of cigarettes from his jean jacket pocket, pulling out a single one along with a lighter and he holds the pack out to Isak, "You smoke?"
Isak shakes his head, scrunching up his nose, "No. Kind of grosses me out. Only thing I'll smoke is a joint."
Even chuckles and Isak watches as he slips the cigarette back into the pack along with the lighter back into his pocket. Isak sighs, looking around the room one more time before sitting himself a few feet away from Even on the couch, his arms securely crossed in front of his chest and Isak can feel his heart beating a thousand miles per hour as Even reaches a hand over, running his fingers through the curls on the back of Isak's head and the feeling sends shivers down Isak's spine as he closes his eyes for a few seconds.
"I wanted to do that all night," Isak hears Even mumble, and Isak opens his eyes slowly and they meet up with Even's intense gaze in that instant, Isak finds himself shuffling closer and Even's hand is gripping on his hair as Isak moves into his lap, straddling him, and their lips are pressing together in a frenzy of teeth and biting and hot breaths and as soon as Isak grinds his hips onto Even's crotch, he groans into his mouth and flips them onto their sides and soon Even has Isak beneath him and Even manages to straddle Isak on the small leather couch.
-
By the time their done, they're still alone backstage and Isak is lying atop of Even's chest, listening to his heavy breathing as Isak is trying to catch his own - a small, thin blanket draped over both of them and Isak has the most ridiculous grin on his face.
"Wow," Isak mutters, letting out a small gasp.
Even laughs beneath him, still running his hand through Isak's now sweaty and curlier hair. "Wow indeed."
"I think... I think I might tolerate this band now."
"You think so?"
Isak nods, letting a small giggle escape him as he tilts his shin up to look at Even. "I think it might be worth it."
"You better go home and download all of our songs," Even jokes, smiling.
"I think I will."
"Good, because then I most definitely won't be able to keep my hands off you knowing you listen to my guitar solos on repeat."
"How about dinner tomorrow, hm?" Isak asks, his voice a bit quiet.
"McDonalds, maybe?"
Isak scoffs, rolling his eyes but he nods anyway.
"Sure."
