1.) What did you want to do with your life when you were younger? What would the child version of yourself think about the path you paved for yourself?

There were so many different things I wanted to be when I was younger.  It was constantly changing and being influenced by media and experiences.  I wanted to be a astronaut, a fireman, a doctor, an actor, a teacher, a military pilot, a rockstar, a chemist, a banker....but when it was time to make decisions about life after Dalton, studying computer science seemed to make the most sense as a jumping off point.  I was thinking web design, maybe programing.  We barely knew what apps were back then.  

Did I see myself leaving Northwestern with my roommate and moving to Silicon Valley to work in a tech think tank?  No.  But California was such an adventure and I loved it.  And as great as the think tank was, leaving it to develop something of our own, just ours, was the best.  Deciding to come to the East coast once the App took off and to go off on my own, is a little daunting, but honestly, it’s time. 

2.) What is your proudest accomplishment? Don’t be afraid to  talk about what it took to achieve it and how you feel about it as well.

Hands down- having created Social Byte.  I don’t know if other creative types get this paternal/maternal feeling over the things they create, but Social Byte is like my child.  

I’m also pretty proud of myself for having decided to branch off on my own now, and come east.  A new adventure.  Even if it's taken me years to do so.

3.) If you could do anything you wanted for one whole day, what would it be and why?

I would do anything.  For me, it would be less about the what and more about the who.  Or who’s.  Spend a whole day with someone or someone's that it’s always easy to be around.  And do whatever, but bask in the enjoyment of their company.  I’ve been away from the people I grew up with, some important people, for too long.  I’d try to fix that.  I’m going to fix that, now that I’m on the East coast.

where are they now? 

Even after the steroid scandal that rocked the Warblers in his senior year, Nick was able to turn that into a real learning and growing experience by making it the topic of his admission essays.  He ended up getting accepted to several schools, including Northwestern University in Chicago, where he ultimately decided to go.  Not going to New York, or the East coast, like it seemed like so many of his friends were was a hard decision for Nick. 

Computer science ended up suiting Nick, and he went on to complete an Master of Science in Information  Technology.  Nick was also lucky that right off the bat he met Ryan, his roommate.  For the second time, Nick found himself with a roommate that he clicked with almost instantly.  They were in the same program, they were roommates, study buddies, sounding boards, and the best of friends.  It made missing his Warbler and Dalton friends a little more bearable. And because it didn’t feel so bad,  Nick was more easily able to try and keep his friendships going with his Warbler and Dalton friends all across the country.  Nick was constantly sending cards, sometimes letters, post cards, emails, posts on various social medias, trying to keep any bits of communication open with everyone.

After completing their MS IT at Northwestern, Ryan convinced Nick to go West with him- where he was from originally.  18 months with the think tank they left it to pursue their own project, and Social Byte was born.  Despite the closeness of their friendship, being roommates for years, moving across the country together, it was strictly platonic.  Which suited Nick just fine anyway.  

Once Social Byte hit the market and exploded, Nick decided it was time to branch out and go off and try something on his own.  This was also influenced by his want to move to the East coast and Ryan’s desire to stay in California.   It’s his birthday week and Nick Duval can’t think of anything more fitting than starting a new adventure, in a new city, closer to quite a few of his high school and even college friends.

Spoilers for Halo 1x08

I’m saying that a lot today, lol. This is just a text thing, though. I’m still doing my next set of GIFs but I’ve seen this a bunch today so wanted to talk about it.

I do my best to not read comments in places like Twitter or Youtube about Halo  because it just gets me all frothed up for no good reason. People are allowed to dislike a show, I’m fine with that. But my goodness, the things that get some of these people RAEGING is scary. Just today I stumbled across such sheer anger over this last ep because...

Master Chief is supposed to be a virgin forever!

Well, I’m pretty sure there’s a reason why he’s not stopping for some lovin’ in the game because, well, it’s not that sort of game, my good dudes. 🤷‍♀️ A TV show is an entirely different medium. Also, Chief in the game doesn’t have the same sort of hormone pellet that Chief in the show has that he removed. If game!Chief suddenly was flooded with all of the hormones and feelings that have been suppressed in him all these years, there’s no telling what he might be down for. I’m just saying. 🤷‍♀️

(Thanks to @mrtobenamedlater for pointing out that in-game John does have a form of a pellet, check the notes where he elaborates on that further. 😎👍 I edited my statement to say that show!Chief and game!Chief don’t have the same sort of pellet since I’m presuming that game!Chief’s couldn’t be removed as easily as show!Chief’s was. Though I could be wrong again, lol!)

But, but, but, Chief would never fornicate with a spy! He’s going to bring about the fall of Reach because he couldn’t keep it in his pants!!!1!11!!!

Again, my good dude, you’re reaching *heh* a bit there. Yeah, I suspect the fall of Reach might start in the finale. Makee now can give the Covenant their address after all. And none of that has to do with her relationship with John. She was giving humanity the benefit of the doubt because of her feelings for John, it was being tased and tortured and the like that flipped her back.

And then it finally dawned on me just WHY so many of these dudes might be upset: the sex scene was a love scene.

And as that it was a love scene, the focus was on feelings, not jiggling, naked body parts. We’ve seen both John and Makee naked in the show but here, we don’t. This scene was about two damaged people finding each other, not about them bangin’ like a screen door in a hurricane.

I’m pretty sure that if this would’ve been presented with a more typical “wild, screaming monkey sex” where they destroyed the room and the camera is crawling all over her naked body 99% of the time, these dudes would’ve been more, “Yeah, get it, Master Chief!”

Some of these people aren’t upset that Chief had sex. They’re upset that it wasn’t violent or even degrading (to Makee, of course). Or at least, that’s how it sounds to me. 🤷‍♀️

The rest of them can’t seem to grasp that Silver Timeline is not the game timeline and that the characters here are different than the game characters. They keep raging that they’re ruining Master Chief. My dudes, this was presented to you from the start as an alternative version of Master Chief. Things are different here, backstories are different. So therefore the characters will have some differences, they’re not going to copy/paste the characters from the game.

Like, did they miss Cortana being implanted directly into John’s brain instead of into his Mjolnir helmet? You don’t think that would give them a different relationship just on that alone than what they have in the game? Silver Team is not Blue Team. The Spartans were not told about their families in the show vs knowing in the game.

I mean, maybe it’s because I like writing a billion different versions of the same character, seeing how things change when you change the circumstances, that it doesn’t seem so impossible to get that distinction. 🤷‍♀️

Let me conclude by saying, of course, it’s fine for you to not like any sort of romance for Chief. There’s nothing at all wrong with that, a lot of people aren’t shippers and that’s extremely valid. Or maybe you don’t like John with Makee, also totally valid. Maybe the entire scene just annoyed you, valid again. This is just in response to people who just seem determined to scream about the show not being the game or who were just mortally offended that we didn’t get a “manly” sex scene instead of a “lovey-dovey” one. Dude, that’s fine for you not to like it. But you don’t have to come scream at the people who did. That’s not cool, not at all. Let people like what they like, let people dislike what they like. At the end of the day, we’re all fans and we should show each other some basic respect.

I’m sorry if you’re not getting the version of Halo you wanted, I really am. But if this show is making you this enraged, then don’t watch. Cut it out of your life like a toxic friend. Go enjoy the game. Go find a different show to enjoy. Just don’t boil in hatred so much. It’s not good for you. 😕

A ctivities - What do they like to do with their s/o? How do they spend their free time with them?

Dates with Timothee are very very comforting and new at the same time. He LOVES getting out of the house and going to a city where shops are lining every corner and small cafes with coffee to die for. But he also loves to cook you dinner and rehash your days. He’s quite a domestic person.

B eauty - What do they admire about their s/o? What do they think is beautiful about them?

Timothee finds all of you attractive. But his favorite thing to do is whenever you’re reading a book or the two of you are watching TV, and you’re at one end of the couch and he’s at the other end, he loves to run his hands up and down your legs while they rest in his lap. Drumming his fingers against your knees is like a calming thing

C omfort - How would they help their s/o when they feel down/have a panic attack etc.?

He doesn’t talk, at all. He’s an incredibly patient boyfriend who will sit there with you and sync your breathing while hugging you. He will listen for hours and hours to you talk about it. And if not, he makes tea for you and offers cuddles and comfortable silences. I mean, either way he always makes tea.

D reams - How do they picture their future with their s/o?

He would love a family with you, he knows you’d be an incredible parent to his children. But he’s content being young, having new experiences and getting to be spontaneous. If he had to think about it, he’d like one or two children and maybe a dog. Living in a cozy but spacious home, of course there’s a pool in the back.

E qual - Are they the dominant one in the relationship, or rather passive?

well, when he’s in the mood, jealous/mad he definitely will be dominant (and especially in bed) but he’s in no way so dominant that you will feel like his maid or a child. But he really doesn’t want to consider your relationship to be that way. Both of you are just you and treat each other equally. 

F ight - Would they be easy to forgive their s/o? How are they fighting?

He gets cold when he’s fighting with you. Timothee’s a bit like a younger sibling while fighting, he knows how to push your buttons and won’t stop until he see’s a reaction. But he has that guilty feeling wash over him so fast. He’s very very easy to forgive you because how could he say no to someone like you??

G ratitude - How grateful are they in general? Are they aware of what their s/o is doing for them?

SO GRATEFUL. He spoils like no other. If you point out that you like a pair of earrings, they’re yours (it doesn’t matter that they’re pure diamonds) you mentioned that you want to see Italy? Tickets booked. And a great thing about him, on top of being a good listener is that he has a great eye. And he picks up on things and is quick to notice them. Which is a big reason he’s so successful in acting. Even if it’s something as simple as washing the dishes so he can relax, to something as kind as making him your very own fan gift.. he melts every time.

H onesty - Do they have secrets they hide from their s/o? Or do they share everything?

Mmm, he certainly tries not to but everyone keeps secrets. There are things that both of you prefer to keep private but he wouldn’t keep something like him kissing another woman a secret.

I nspiration - Did their s/o change them somehow, or the other way around? Like trying out new things or helped them overcome personal problems?

You’ve inspired him and fueled him to become a stronger actor even if you’re not one yourself. Some of your advice is seriously helpful, and some are unhelpful but hilarious. No matter what you will tell him, he knows you’re waiting at home or even at his set with open arms, waiting for him to win an award and fangirl online to other Timmy fans. It makes him blush and cause a billion butterflies to erupt in his stomach.

J ealousy - Do they get jealous easily? How do they deal with it?

He trusts you 100% that you would never leave him, and he doesn’t want to be one of those boyfriends who restricts their partner. But there’s a part of him that’s incredibly insecure and is convinced you can do better. There are some parts that WANT you to leave him and do better. He would never ever show it in public, but you can read him well. You’ll put a hand on his bouncing knee and kiss his jaw.

K iss - Are they a good kisser? What was the first kiss like? 

He knows he’s a damn good kisser as well as charmer. You had been on a couple of dates with him, on one you mentioned that it was on your bucket list to be kissed in the rain. He made sure to schedule a date when there would be rain and he took you on a picnic. Towards the end, it had started to pour and you were trying to run back to the car but he grabbed your face and kissed you so hard but so passionately. His curls were dripping and the sandwiches were ruined but the feeling was incredible. 

L ove Confession - How would they confess to their s/o?

Rightttt after that kiss, in the car you were drying off and laughing with him while the radio was on in the background. The car was on but he wasn’t driving. Instead, he turned to you and told you he was in love with you. Both of you had said “love you” but never “i’m in love with you”

M arriage - Do they want to get married? How do they propose? What would the marriage be like?

He’s on the fence about babies but he knows for certain that he wants to marry you. You know that scene in The Office where Jim shows the engagement ring for Pam and is like “I got it 3 weeks into dating”? That’s Timmy. 

He brings you to a premire of one of his movies and at the end when all the credit’s are rolling, it says “y/n will you marry me?” and when you turn back around, Timmy is on one knee and Armie is most likely behind him crying his eyes out. 

N icknames - What do they call their s/o?

“Babe” “Baby” “Mon cherie” When you two are married, he’ll join you in the kitchen while cooking dinner and call you “Mrs Chalamet” before kissing your shoulder and beginning to chop veggies. It’s just incredibly domestic 

O n Cloud Nine - What are they like when they are in love? Is it obvious for others? How do they express their feelings?

so so so obvious and so in love. He shows you off as much as possible and talks about you on talk shows until he’s sure that the audience is annoyed and SNL mocks him (and even then, he’ll continue)

P DA - Are they upfront about their relationship? Do they brag with their s/o in front of others? Or are they rather shy to kiss etc. when others are watching?

he brags but he does know when to dial it back for your own privacy and humility. BUT that doesn’t mean he won’t hold your hand in public, or banter with you on a twitter thread even if you both are right next to each other on the couch playing footsie

Q uirk - Some random ability they have that’s beneficial in a relationship.

He has a great eye and is quick to pick up on things. It’s almost as if he has certain senses and can tell when you’re having a bad day or upset. He just knows. It’s incredible. He’ll run you a bath and order cake to indulge yourself in before you even get home.

R omance - How romantic are they? What would they do to make their s/o happy? Cliché or rather creative?

The most sickley, fluffy, romantic, boyfriend that it makes me sick. Timothee would dye his hair rainbow and cut of his toes if it meant you would smile. On a more romantic note, he pulls out all the stops but it’s a bit more subtle?? Like he is very romantic but it’s not overwhelming. There’s no string quartet and private dining room but there will be jazz and dancing at midnight or a homemade “restaurant” with Timothee as a one man (messy) staff but it’s the best thing you could have ever come home to

S upport - Are they helping their s/o achieve their goals? Do they believe in them?

He’s your head cheerleader and the most selfless human ever. Will cheer for you until his voice goes mute and even then, he’s the one clapping the loudest and crying the most. 

T hrill - Do they need to try out new things to spice out your relationship? Or do they prefer a certain routine?

both! Timothee is like a dog in some ways. He’s energetic and needs new things, to be outside, to be social. But he craves hugs and cuddling, he adores late night talks with you or watching you make him breakfast while he scrolls through Instagram. Like I said, a very domestic guy.

U nderstanding - How good do they know their partner? Are they empathetic?

He know’s you like the back of his hand and he could spot you with his eyes closed and only by feeling your face. He knows your habits, and the food you hate, your terrible cooking skills, and the kind of dad jokes you tell, the anxiety ticks, and what shows you’ll watch over and over again.

V alue - How important is the relationship to them? What is it’s worth in comparison to other things in their life?

He’d go insane without you. You’re addictive because you have a pure heart and a dirty mind and he falls in love the more you show that. He brings you back the weirdest things that remind him of you. Stationary cards with odd quotes, an antique necklace from the 40′s, peach earrings (because he enables your teasing)

I said that he’s like a puppy! he needs kisses and scratches to his head (free scalp massage) and he’s a clingy puppy too. i mean, look at his eyes for the love of god. 

Y earning - How will they cope when they’re missing their partner?

he aches so bad. He is your cheerleader but he can’t function without you. You’re his cup of coffee, an antidepressant. He’s fangirling inside for your new project but when he sees your mug or reaches to bring you close to his chest and you’re not there, he’s unable to fall asleep or make a cup of coffee.

Z eal - Are they willing to go to great lengths for the relationship? If so, what kind of?

He’d travel to Mars and back if you asked him to. Just ask him, and he does it. One time, he was working on a movie with an actress who was quite snippy to you and he quit immediately, feeling incredibly guilty and nauseous. He got you very  expensive lox and bagels one morning because you were whining about it the previous night. He doesn’t want to close his eyes at night because there’s so many things he wants to do before he goes on to the next day. But when he closes his eyes at night, it’s all you, you, you, you, you and how much he’s overwhelmed with total adoration for you

Your Content and Accessibility For the Blind

Hello everyone! I was thinking about accessibility and wanted to make a post to help creators. This is going to cover general accessibility for blind people interacting with your content. Some of it may be obvious to some and this is by no means comprehensive, so feel free to add anything you think of that is helpful. Also, I wanted to include some ideas for DeafBlind people, but I am not DeafBlind or D/deaf, so I simply listed some general accessibility ideas. If anyone has any other tips or things to consider, please add them in a comment or message and I’ll include it here.

Remember, blindness exists on a spectrum. This post will focus on making things accessible for totally blind people, although these tips can also be beneficial for people with residual vision who use screen readers to reduce eye strain, for small text, for clarity, etc. D/deafness and DeafBlindness are also on spectrums. Some DeafBlind people have some hearing, some vision, a little of both, or none of either. If someone asks you for better or different accessibility services for your content, listen and try to accommodate them as best you can. I have provided some links and resources here to attempt to explain accessibility for blind people, which will include blind people who are DeafBlind. The point is accessibility issues can come from both sides whether it be the audio or visual sides.

How DeafBlind People Use Technology and The Importance of Braille and Transcripts: Understanding Assistive Technology

Online Content:

GIFs, Pictures, Fan-art, PSA and info posts, Memes, Screenshots of Text Posts or Screenshots of Twitter Threads- Provide an image description on your original post! This is the best option, as you probably know your content best and what you wish to draw attention to. More importantly, every reblog will include an image description, which means the blind person doesn’t need to hunt for an image description in the reblogs! If you know more than one language, include image descriptions in those languages.

Note: Always include descriptions when you post images with or about blind people or characters. Particularly fan-art you made of blind characters. If you don’t, consider why and think about how it would feel to be shut out of something about yourself.

What should you include?

Write Image Description in brackets and include End of Image Description at the end for clarification. As for what you should describe, it depends on what the picture is. Include where it is from. For example, “a screenshot of a Twitter thread by BlindBetaIsAwesome”. Include the text and describe any GIFs or images it includes. Write everything out as they appear. Describe emojis as well. When writing out screen names or hashtags, capitalize the first letter of each word. Otherwise screen-readers read it oddly. For example instead of #accessibilityfortheblind try #AccessibilityForTheBlind. If you think someone will want to search a name, include a link.

You should describe what is important in the image, especially for conveying information or humor. General ideas include: image origin, who is in the image, what they’re doing, any relevant colors or clothing, objects they’re holding, their facial expression, any emojis, and any text in the image. Blind people do like to know about color. For NSFW stuff, include ‘NSFW’ at the start, but other than that, yes, blind people also generally like NSFW things described.

Fanfiction:

Generally, fanfic is very accessible to screen-readers and Braille Displays. However, there are a few ways you can make it more accessible.

Pictures: Include alt-text for any images you post such as artwork or character social media posts. Describe it like you would any other image. Alt-text is different from an image description because instead of a screen-reader saying “image” when it finds an image, it will describe the image. An image description is the text included beneath the picture that everyone can see. Including some kind of description, especially for plot-relevant images, can allow all blind readers to experience the fic.

Chat conversations: Again, for hashtags and screen names, capitalize the first letter of each word for the ease of screen-readers. For characters who don’t use capitalization much, you can add a hyphen between each word to make it easier to read like this: blind-beta-likes-fanfic-too.

Emojis: Screen readers can’t fully read emojis like this one that uses keyboard slashes and symbols to create an image ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (image description: emoji of a person shrugging with both palms lifted upwards. End description.) However, they can read emojis that come on a phone such as 🧁which screen readers read as “cupcake”.

Podfics are also good for hearing people with no vision or reduced vision. Having a podfic with good quality (maybe one that can describe images found in the story) will reduce some of the issues listed here and give blind people another, fun way to interact with content. However, I would try to keep in mind the things I mentioned above for the sake of screen-readers and Braille Displays, which are particularly important for some DeafBlind people who may want to read your fanfic and may not be able to hear well enough to use a screen-reader.

Lastly, keep in mind that any kind of comic may be inaccessible to some blind people. Write with them in mind. Include a message at the start of the story, maybe that it contains material from the comic, graphic novel, or print cartoon. If you know of a comic dub, link to it. If there is none, include details in the story so that a non-manga or non-comic reader would be able to understand.

Web-Comics/Web-Graphic-Novels:

First, I did research and found a comic book store for the blind called Comics Empower. Unfortunately, when I click the link provided on Twitter and the articles I read, the site seems to be down.

However, this is about you all and sharing your comics with blind readers. You have a few options:

Alt-text. This is descriptions directly ‘inside’ the image, which is not visible to everyone. You can read about alt-text for comics specially here and you can read general info for alt-text for screen-readers and Braille Displays here.

Image descriptions. These are descriptions of each comic page (hopefully with a paragraph for each panel) that can be visible to anyone. You can describe your comic, who is in it, what they’re doing, and what they’re saying, probably beneath the image.

Comic Audio Performances. These are accessible to both blind and sighted audiences. These are videos using actors for the dialogue, sound effects, and moving comic panels. Pros for this style include increased viewership, increased accessibility for the blind, and perhaps more revenue if you have a way to monetize the content. Cons include that it is more work, could potentially cost money when hiring actors initially, may not be accessible to anyone with hearing loss, and may still require a bit of audio description for some panels that are hard to follow with only sound effects.

What can you do?

A few ideas I had were to use a combination of image descriptions and audio performances to make the comics accessible to a number of people who may be blind, or DeafBlind. Having options is helpful. For ther issue of some panels needing extra description in order to make sense, I thought of including time-stamps and descriptions in the description section, labeling it as image descriptions for the blind. Include dialogue for reference. Or an audio description could be added such as:

Audio narration: “Bee sits on a couch writing.”

Sound Effect of a purring cat.

Audio narration: “Blind Beta picks up an orange cat and puts him on the couch next to them.”

Dialogue: “I’m so glad I have a cat to cuddle with!”

I will touch on this in the video section, but while it is sadly not possible to add audio descriptions onto YouTube as of 2021, you can add them manually through websites you like YouDescribe. For your comics, I suggest, reading about YouDescribe, downloading the app, creating a narration transcript for your web comic performance, and posting the described audio performance onto YouDescribe. Post both versions as close to the same time as you can, and include a link to the described version in the YouTube description. A glance at YouDescribe will tell you not all videos are available with descriptions and not all blind people are aware of this service. Not all videos are searchable in their library either. However, it is an option I wanted to include.

You could also simply include the audio narration in your main YouTube video if you would like. Or any combination of my suggestions you feel comfortable with.

I wanted to cover YouTube videos and video clips shared on websites like tumblr. For small clips, image descriptions and transcripts could probably be listed together. I have seen this done and it seems to help people.

Again, the original poster should post the description with the video. This is because they know the most important parts and because all reblogs of the post will include the description, so no one will have to hunt down a description that may not exist.

For the clip or clip compilation, mention where the clips come from, who is in them, and what they are doing. You could probably have a separate paragraph for each clip and include times-stamps if possible.

For videos you post on YouTube, descriptions can be very helpful! Unfortunately, YouTube does not support adding an audio description track at this time. Ideally, YouTube would have a description track one could turn on and off such as with subtitles. Until then, if you want to add a description, you should add one yourself when you post the video onto YouTube or any other website.

Before I get into how, let’s go over something else.

What videos need descriptions?

-Recipe videos - especially ones with only text. Ingredients, steps, measures, methods, any flourishes or special scenery (such as when shopping for ingredients) should be described. Blind people don’t just want you to read the recipe to them. They want to know what is happening in the video and how it is being done.

-Tutorials - These often contain a voice-over and accompanying images to demonstrate. A creator can opt to simply include more visual description along with the other information in the voice-over or add extra narration later (see the “How?” section below). For these videos, make sure to avoid or expand on any visually dependent parts such as “click here” or “fold here” or “when you finish, it should look like this”. Videos that contain only text and demonstration, however, will need a more traditional audio description the same as any other video.

-Silent aesthetic videos - Sometimes containing music or focusing on natural noise, these videos are usually vlogs with soothing activities or daily routines. They often show scenery, pretty things, or tours. Because these videos are silent, sometimes containing only text, they are not accessible. However, they can be easy to describe, perhaps in a soothing or educational fashion.

-Music videos - Because these videos are by nature visual, they may not be accessible. They may also have inconsistent, poor, or changing lighting for aesthetic purposes or set changes. This means audio descriptions would be helpful.

-Text-based videos - Obviously these are not accessible or may be difficult to read depending on font size, style, or background. For these, putting the text in the description may suffice. Label it so that blind people are aware they are getting the same material. If the text includes pictures or short clips, you could also simply include your own narration on the video itself or see the “How?” section below for another alternative.

-Game Play-Throughs - Games can sometimes be completely inaccessible pe very difficult depending on the person’s level of site. A lot of video games a not accessible or difficult to play, with quick-moving graphics, perhaps small text, or other difficulties. Because of this, blind people may enjoy game plays on YouTube for video games and mobile games.

-Skits or other performances - Think of these as Netflix shows with audio description tracks. Blind people may miss out on some visual humor, plot elements, or other fun visual aspects like costumes.

-Original Films, Animation, Clips From Shows - Again, think of it as any TV show that needs to description to cover visual aspects of what is happening. Scenery, characters, what they’re doing, any text, facial expressions, etc.

Pet videos- Because pets are cute and they should be described! Especially because these videos are sometimes hard to follow, such as a pet doing a trick.

How? How Do We Provide This?

There is always the option to add your own audio descriptions. However, that way confuse already-existing narration or may not be possible for already-published videos. You may also have trouble speaking and wish for someone else to provide audio descriptions. The video may be a music video or one you want to remain silent for the aesthetic. You may want to add a description to a video you enjoy that is not one you uploaded personally.

A free website and mobile app called YouDescribe can help with that. It allows people to add audio descriptions to videos on YouTube. You can even describe videos on a wishlist. Find out more here.

If you describe your video or have it described, be sure to link to the YouDescribe video in the description of your YouTube version so that people can find it easily, or note that it is available on YouDescribe.

This site may be a bit too niche, but I figure if it helps one person, I’ll be happy. My entire blog is niche, when you think about it- targeting writers who specifically want to write and read about blind characters. It’ll be fine.

Keep in mind that audio descriptions may not be accessible to all DeafBlind people. An inclusive option could be to include a description under your video so people with Braille Displays can read it.

Print Books, Audiobooks, Large Print Books, or Braille Books?

Let’s get into something you writers might be interested in. Books! Let’s say you wrote a book with a blind character. How do you make sure it can be accessed by blind readers? You want to have a few options.

Print books - These are accessible to people with reduced vision. It is also possible to scan print books to read with voiceover, but I can’t imagine many people buying books simply to scan unless they borrowed/found it. So it could be an option, I suppose. Scanning books also takes time because you need to do each individual page.

Audiobooks - Audiobooks are great. They are accessible to blind people who can hear. They are cheaper to produce than Braille books, take up less space, and are better for the environment. They can be expensive when you buy them. Libraries have extensive collections now, however, because libraries don’t usually have any Braille books and very few large print books, not all blind people use them, even for digital access. However,many blind people love audiobooks so it a good way to make sure your content is accessible.

As of now, my library app is accessible with a screenreader, so reading audiobooks is possible. E-books are not currently accessible with a screen-reader on this particular app.

Make sure to release your print books and audiobooks at the same time or as soon as possible. It isn’t fair for blind people to have to wait, although there are cases where not having an audiobook is understandable. Keep in mind that the less options you have, the less accessible your content will be.

Large Print Books - I used to get large print books myself. I would say it is less likely publishers will want to publish large print books because they are, of course, larger and take up more space. (Not as much as Braille books, but we’ll get into that.) As you may assume, they are also less popular with readers. Publishers make exceptions for textbooks, so if you are making a textbook or an educational book, particularly one with drawings, publishers might allow it. They also might consider making large print editions of children’s books. Large print books can sometimes be found at libraries, although they are usually crammed into their own limited section. That shows how rare it is for large print books to be printed compared to regular-sized books. I have an extra note about this in the children’s book section, but for the most part, I think you can get away with not having a large print edition of your book.

Braille Books - I should you one doesn’t just make a Braille book. Feelings toward them are generally complicated. They can wear down over time, cost a lot, and take up a lot of space. One volume of a book is several volumes of Braille books. Libraries don’t generally have them- you have to request them from various places like The National Library Service for the Blind (NLS). For more information about obtaining or borrowing Braille books, look here.

Braille Books have largely been replaced by refreshable Braille displays and audiobooks. However, they are still important. They can also help DeafBlind people, if a book cannot be read on a Braille display (see the section on e-books below). My suggestion would be to skip Braille books unless you are writing for children (see the Children’s Books section) or your book contains many diagrams that need to be embossed.

Children’s Books -

I wanted to briefly discuss children’s books. With children’s books, you will, of course, want to have a print book and an audiobook available, perhaps even someone reading the book on YouTube. If the book has pictures, descriptions of the pictures would be nice. This is also where I think large print and Braille books may be not only possible or more likely, but important. Children are just learning to read and will continue to explore a love for reading. Therefore, a lack of reading material can be challenging.

If possible, you may want to consider asking your publisher if large print or Braille versions are possible. While websites are available so that children can get books, you may want to ask for your book to be published in these formats if your story has a blind MC.

Braille literacy is declining in the blind community, with children (and frankly many others) choosing to use VoiceOver and audiobooks to read rather than Braille. Being able to read helps reinforce spelling, grammar, meaning in ways that are not possible with having things read to you. That said, children should also be encouraged to learn technology and use audiobooks when they feel comfortable.

If you are publishing a children’s book, particularly with a blind MC, consider what your options are for increasing accessibility.

E-Books:

This is one of the more accessible options, as it can be read with a screen-reader or Braille display. E-books are also common enough that they are released at the same time as print books. The text can usually be adjusted and readers usually have a Search feature. However, accessibility is still a problem with e-books. While authors cannot fix this, they should be aware of it. You can read about accessibility issues here.

It’s that one of really rare times she’s not lying (well, not that much). And how Damian reacts to it?

Damian, Done with Lies™: Do you ever stop lying? Because this, all of this, is absolutely and utterly ridiculous.

Cue Lila wishing she didn’t bullshit as much as she did Damian was just a little more gullible

Anyway.

I don’t know if you remember, but in the first part I said Damian ditched Lila for Marinette (but let’s be honest, wouldn’t we all?).

To clear things up, I kinda wanted the GA students to accompany their penpals throughout their time at school. It’d be nice, right?

So the scene is:

The principal has just announced that GA students have to keep company their penpals while they’re at the GA establishment. Lila’s feeling victorious, this is her chance to get her claws in Damian and his money- I mean, to get to know her lovely penpal. Yeah...

Lila, walking up to Damian, while trying to appear sexy and shy at the same time, and failing at both: So, shall we?

Damian, ostentatiously glancing at her before going to Marinette: Bye

Now, to spice things up, I decided imma get them caught up in a rouge attack/attacked by a rouge.

So somewhere a week in their stay, akuma class is held hostage by one of the Gotham’s criminals.

Because this is Gotham, y’all. You can’t be in Gotham and NOT get attacked some way or another. It’s impossible.

[Choose your villain. I have badass Marinette though, so we all know the winner here]

The moment it starts, Damian slips away and changes into Robin.

Meanwhile:

The class is screaming and panicking.

Lila is probably in the middle of a panic attack.

Marinette’s assessing the situation before striking.

The moment Robin arrives, he gets to witness Marinette, the sweet cinnamon roll Marinette, kicking ass and taking names. Adorable. He thinks he’s in love (and he so is).

Bats come. And they’re met with the dude dealt with and trembling in fear of a petite girl with pigtails, who’s standing next to him and a lovestruck Robin staring at said girl.

A sight to behold, truly.

Also, what if Damian accidentally texts Lila instead of Marinette after the attack? And Lila is so happy, because she thinks her plan’s finally working. But ohoho, does Damian have surprise for her.

Damian: Are you sure you’re okay? The attack was really dangerous, You’re sure you’re fine?

Lila, thinking ‘yes, fucking finally. Almost thought you have no feelings’ : Oh, it was so scary !!!!!! 😱😰😨😨😨 [just hella lot of emojis. She seems like that kind to me] I was absolutely terrified!!!! I’m just glad that it’s all over. After the attack Robin came up to check up on me. He even flirted with me, i think he likes me... Too bad I already like someone else 😘😘😘😘😘😘

Hi! I'm actually glad you came to my ask box, it gives me an excuse to try and clear up some of these misconceptions.

So first of all, we don't technically know if it's unrequited. There is a lot of tinhatting involved in Destiel shipping, but there is also some solid evidence behind it. I personally believe that Dean returns Castiel’s confession, but didn’t have time to react to it. (I wouldn’t know what to do if my best friend of twelve years told me they made a deal with the Empty, was about to die, loved me, his love for me is the reason he’s about to die, and then continued to tell me that everything I believed about myself is wrong.) Some people also believe that Dean may have thought that if he didn’t say anything, the Empty wouldn’t come. Others believe that he did say something, but it was cut. (Which actually isn’t as far fetched as it sounds, considering scripts are sent to dubbing companies ahead of time and he reciprocated in almost every Latin American dub, as well as in French and Italian. And before you claim that there was a “rogue translator”, I must say that the script and dub has to go through very many heads before it is aired, so practically the entire company would have to be in on it. There are also a lot of strange jump cuts in the scene.) People have their personal headcanons, and you have yours! That’s perfectly fine, though anonymously telling me, and another awesome human being, that I’m a loser for having my headcanon is actually incredibly coward-like, presumptuous, and disrespectful.

So while Dean didn’t tell Cas he loved him in the English version, (Though I don’t know why that’s the only one that matters, considering only 13% of the world speaks it.) That doesn’t mean it’s not canon however, just unconfirmed on one side. (So your previous statement, “Destiel was never on the cards. Lol.”, is both grammatically incorrect and false.)

Your next statement, however, is the one that rubs me the wrong way. Jensen Ackles is not homophobic. I’ll link a few posts below that completely disprove this, but just because you don’t ship a queer ship, doesn’t make you homophobic. There’s also his infamous gay Aunt, and in my experience of homophobic-people-interacting-with-their-gay-family-members, (which is sadly a good enough amount to have a proper viewpoint), they don’t usual act as comfortable and open as Jensen and Aunt Darla, (and her wife!) are with eachother.

-Twitter thread of him being comfortable with queer peeps.

-CW’s “Dare to Defy” Campaign. (This movement is still very important, but the words don't hold as much weight to me personally after seeing what they did in the finale.)

-Tumblr post with Jensen being supportive of queer peeps. (He's even raised money for people in the LGBTQIA+ community anon. A homophobic person does not do that.)

You also have to take into consideration how comfortable he is with his male friends. I’m not saying he himself is apart of the LGBTQIA+ community, but there are countless videos and pictures of him being comfortable with both Jared and Misha, and that’s something homophobic people tend to stay away from. Once again, this doesn’t mean he himself is queer, and obviously people can love each other platonically! But people who are super religious and stead fast against gay people, usually go out of their way to not be seen as gay. And it’s clear it doesn’t bother J2M at all.

Jensen has also, in recent years, made jokes about Destiel. My favorite one is probably the, “Dean has no taste, clearly.” You can find that here because it genuinely makes my day. And if he was truely homophobic, I doubt he would be comfortable with things like this, as well as Jared constantly poking fun at him about both Misha and Destiel. (He would have at least pulled Jared aside privately and asked him nicely not to do that anymore. There are ways of doing this without seeming homophobic, and in reverse, just because he doesn’t want someone to make jokes like that doesn’t make him homophobic.) Third, I personally want Destiel to be canon because A, having two famous and main characters on a long-running Sci-Fi show, that was originally intended to be incredibly heterosexual, come out as queer would be good representation. People need to see that it’s okay to not be straight. Queer people have been oppressed for thousands of years, so being able to see themselves in their favorite show and characters is so powerful. Especially if these characters live long, happy lives together. And I argue that the actors don’t have to be gay themselves to play a gay character. People cross the borders on gender, sex, age, and nationality all the time. Why should sexual orientation be any different? And the B, because it's my otp. Simple as that.

And I don’t speak for the entire Destiel community, just as you don’t speak for the entire community of people who don’t ship them, but I personally don’t fetishize m|m. I actually get no enjoyment out of reading smut, and actively avoid it. I ship them because they have great chemistry, an interesting and often romantic storyline, and they obviously care about each other very much. Their gender has no impact on that. I ship w|w couples, (I actually wish there were more of them, because having my own representation is important to me), as well as heterosexual and nonbinary ones too.

So you can call me a loser anon, and honestly, I’ll embrace it. But I’m not the one coming into people’s ask boxes and hating on them, just because they want to ship two awesome people. Black Rose’s third comeback in one year Rosettes couldn’t believe it.

Yuna pitched in with the aesthetics of this comeback so of course it was pretty!

The physical album had a sunset theme with three versions: day, evening and night.

The photo book was taken cohesively so when you flipped through it it would look like the sun was setting throughout the versions.

And the music video! Ugh it was gorgeous and the after effects of it were really well done, one of Black Rose’s prettiest videos.

This was mostly a relaxed era for everyone, promotions weren’t too long but it gave the girls time to properly rest once they were over.

International fans loved the English version of Pearl Voice.

It was the first the girls had released an English version since their first album.

There was noted tension between Sera and Aejung but most fans were able to sweep it under the rug as them being “tired”.

Cute bestie posts on Yuna and Juliet’s instagrams.

Another shared promotional period with Jinx! The Rosie and Aejung interactions had people going crazy.

Also! Black Rose 24hr relay cam!

Literally the cutest thing ever and more interactions between the girls and their friends.

There was also a gif of Hime looking all gorgeous that went viral, think Chungha’s eye sparkle.

The girls released an acapella video of Pearl Voice, they all sounded great and Rosettes loved showing it off on twitter.

Hyebin and Sera both had black hair and Sera’s bangs returned.

Aejung and Yewon’s hair stayed blonde, Aejung’s now a near snow white.

Yuna’s hair was a soft baby pink.

Juliet had black hair with chunky blonde highlights, very disjointed but she pulled it off.

Very shiny and sparkly, suitable to their magical looking music video.

Lots of white, glitter and velvet, all very pretty outfits.

You don’t understand how obsessed I am with that Namjoo eung eung outfit so Aejung def wore that on the comeback stage.

how I make my gifs: a tutorial

Hi everyone! Just in case someone asks in the future + for those curious, I'm here with a tutorial on how I make gifs! If you have any questions whatsoever, please do send me an ask! I’ll be glad to help! The gif I made with this tutorial is the one right here! 

So... let’s start this tutorial with the programs I use.

Adobe Photoshop 2020 - To make the gifs, majority of the work is done in this program.

TopazLabs (Topaz DeNoise 6 and Topaz Clean 3) - To "denoise" and "clean" the gifs, as the names would suggest. Links for download: Topaz DeNoise 6 & Topaz Clean 3

KMPlayer (an alternative would be PotPlayer, or any other video playing program that allows you to capture the frames) - To capture the frames. - I use an older version of KMPlayer, though I don't know which exact version that is.

Now let’s continue onto how I use these programs to create gifs!

Step 1: After you’ve downloaded the necessary programs, download your video. The way to get the best gifs? Quality videos. That’s the first step. For K-pop performances, I recommend this website (the hq files are in .ts form, KMPlayer should be able to open these). Bookmark it! It’s really handy :) Get the video you want to make a gif from and open it in KMPlayer (or PotPlayer or any other program, but for this tutorial I’ll use KMPlayer). Open your video in said program and look for the part you want to make a gif of. Then press CTRL+G (I apologize because I cannot for the life of me remember if this was a standard shortcut or not)

Step 2: After pressing CTRL+G, you’ll be met with this screen:

I’ll briefly explain the numbered parts, but before that, these are my standard settings and just make sure you have them all the same and it should be good!

1: This is where your captured frames will be extracted to. I have them extracted to the standard folder, but you can change this if you want to. You’ll need this folder later when opening the frames!

2: Like it says, this is the image format. I use PNG in the highest quality, as the name would suggest, for the quality.

3: These are the amount of frames the program captures. Say you put in every 2 or 4 frames, you’ll get more choppy gifs. To get the smoothest gifs, put “every frame” (this in turn will increase the gif size as the amount of frames will obviously be bigger).

Once you’ve put in the correct settings and you’ve put the slider where you want the capturing process to start, press “start” (now, before you do this I recommend putting the video on mute as the audio will start to get kinda demon-y the longer you record lol save your ears pls). Then, when you’ve captured all the frames you need, pause the video, press CTRL+G again and click “stop” and close the pop-up/program.

Step 3: It’s time to open up Photoshop! Then go to File > Scripts > Load Files into Stack... (for older versions/another version I used in the past this one didn’t work and I had to use the “Load Multiple DICOM Files...” instead. It should work similarly though, if I remember correctly).

You then get a little pop-up that looks like this:

All you have to do here is click “browse” and navigate to the folder where your captured frames have been saved in. Select all the frames you need, wait for them to load in and then click “OK”!

Step 4: Depending on the amount of frames you’ve selected to load in, as well as the beefiness of your PC/laptop, the frames loading part might take a little while. Photoshop is importing every frame as a separate layer into one file, so just... grab a drink or something and wait a bit! When you’re done waiting, if you haven’t already, go to Window > Timeline. This will show you the animation timeline. For older Photoshop versions this is slightly different (I believe it’s called animation). Then click “Create Video Timeline” and click the 3 squares on the left bottom side (in older versions it’s on the right bottom side, not sure). 

Step 5: After you’ve done all that, you’ll want to select all your layers. You can do this by pressing ALT+CTRL+A or going to Select > All Layers. With all the layers selected, you have to go to Layer > Arrange > Reverse. You only have to do this if you used the “Load Files into Stack” option!

Step 6: After reversing all your layers, you’ll want to go to the three lines you see in the following screenshot, and click “Make Frames From Layers”.

As the name suggests, this turns all the layers into frames. I don’t know why but the first frame will always be 5 seconds long, so to make it easy on yourself when you want to check your gif while editing, just put that on 0 for now. You can do that by clicking the seconds under the frame and clicking “No delay”. After this, check to see if you have the right frames and if you need to delete some (you can do this at any point in the process but I didn’t know where to put it in the tutorial oops).

Step 7: Time to crop the gif to the correct size! For this gif I’m using as an example, I’m making it specifically for Twitter, so the sizes aren’t that obvious (for Twitter I usually use a width of 850 px to keep it sharp, for long size gifs (more height than width for example), I add a background so that it eventually still becomes 850x850 pixels). There’s many posts on Tumblr about the correct sizes for gif/photosets, but a brief rundown of my most used sizes: one gif spanning the entire width of the post has to be 540 px in width. Two gifs next to one another need to have a width of 268 px. I use these dimensions the most! For others, you can Google! 

Step 8: After you’ve cropped the gif, you can do either of two things: either you first add the coloring of your choice and then sharpen the gif OR you do it the other way around. I usually switch these two around depending on how sharp the gif already looks before sharpening because I can’t stand looking at 2 pixels while coloring (lmao). For this one I’ll do the sharpening first.

The whole sharpening process is actually quite simple but you need to make sure that you do the following little steps in the right order or else it won’t work! Select all the layers (CTRL+ALT+A or Select > All Layers) and then click this little thingy:

Then you’re going to Filter > Convert for Smart Filters

If you don’t do it in this order, your gif will end up... well, not being a gif and not moving. If that happens, track back in your history to see if you did it in the correct order! :)

Step 9: The actual sharpening process! After clicking the “Convert for Smart Filters”, you’ll want to go to Filter again and find the Topaz Labs tabs. Personally, I usually do it in the order of DeNoise first and then Clean, but this is a personal thing, really.

I recommend playing around with the settings to see what fits the gif but here are my go-to DeNoise settings (tip: save these as a preset so you only have to click that for faster giffing!):

Press OK when you’re done with these and then go to Filter > Sharpen > Smart Sharpen. These are my SS settings (just copy these, and again, save as a preset!):

Depending on how sharp you want the gif to be, you can input the same settings or go to this in the layers and change the percentage.

Now that we’re done with these... it’s time to flatten it! Just follow these little steps:

And then you wait. Again. I know.

Step 10: After playing the waiting game, you’ll click the three little squares again and do the same thing you did earlier: “Make Frames Into Layers”. Delete the first frame. Add a coloring of your choice (can be a PSD, can be your own coloring, etc. this is honestly just... playing around with things and see what it can do). After you’ve done coloring, select all your frames (same lines as previous screenshot except now you’ll see a “Select All Frames” option, click it!) and change the time to whatever you like (I usually go for 0.05, 0.06, or 0.07. Again, just play around with this!! Try different things!) 

Step 11: Final step! Saving :) I use shortcuts a lot to make things faster so either press ALT+SHIFT+CTRL+S or go to File > Export > Save For Web. Not much to do here, just copy the following settings and save the file!

!!! NOTE: After making a new gif today I realized there’s a weird dotted border on the top of my gifs, it’s a bit difficult to explain but I had no idea what it was. Turns out that the reason why this showed up was because, as shown in the screenshot below, I had “Transparency” selected. If you’re experiencing this too, UNSELECT the transparency and it should be all good!

Also make sure that the “Looping Options” is set to Forever, or else your gif will play only once and then stop!

Tip: While making gifs for Twitter I at one point noticed that if I added in a white background, no matter what I’d do, it’d show up as yellow-y in the preview box. After googling I found that going to the options (1 in the screenshot) and then clicking “Sort by Luminance”, then double-clicking the lightest color (not the transparent one, 2 in the screenshot) and selecting white (or FFF) will get rid of this! This likely won’t be that useful for Tumblr gifs but just in case you ever want to have a white background...!

Then just... save, and upload to Tumblr! :)

Final note: Tumblr has a mix gif size of 3MB. If you have a gifset of 4 gifs you want to upload, all 4 gifs can be max 3MB each. Keep this in mind! If you’re over 3MB, delete a few frames and try again, or resize/crop your gif!

As it turns out, Tumblr has increased their gif size to 8MB, however, the quality tends to get compressed with larger gifs like that so per recommendation: keep them below 5MB! (thank you @yeoli​ for letting me know!)

The first thing Kelsey had learned about Becca Campos when she met her at their sorority's bid day party six years ago was that Becca planned on becoming an entertainment journalist. The idea had seemed far fetched at the time, the dark-haired girl covered in glitter with a smile as wide as her face hardly seemed like the future host of Entertainment Tonight.

But here Becca was, sitting in a black fabric chair in the center of the hotel room they'd checked into for the occasion, her thick near-black hair pulled back in a neat bun at the base of her neck, staring at a notepad in her hand with interminable concentration. The girl Kelsey had met all those years ago with the big dreams and contagious smile was about to do what she'd always dreamed of doing...sort of.

When Niall had determined that the best way to break the news of his new label to his fans was to tell them everything, Kelsey had quickly suggested a sit down interview with Becca. What better way to thank the girl that helped her through so much of the turmoil than with an interview that could potentially jumpstart her career?

When Niall asked Becca to be his interviewer, she'd screamed so loudly that Kelsey had feared their neighbors might think someone was being murdered. "Me?" Becca had asked with shock. "Are you sure you don't want to go straight to the media or something?"

"Absolutely not Becca," Niall had said. "I want this to be personal. This is for my fans and no one else. And you are perfect for this job."

Becca had been perfect for the job. She'd suggested the hotel backdrop, given Niall a list of points from the media perspective that he should be sure to answer to avoid any more speculation and even offered to help do any video editing--which Niall adamantly refused.

The only thing Becca had done that Kelsey wasn't raving about was, well, bringing in Krystal. Kelsey knew Becca had a point, Krystal was needed to clear the baby drama once and for all, but that didn't make Kelsey like the idea of seeing her side by side with Niall again any more.

Kelsey fidgeted with the edge of the royal blue dress that cling to her legs as she adjusted herself in her seat. She didn't know what she was nervous for, she wasn't the one being interviewed, yet her insides felt like they were trying to work their way outside.

Kelsey would remain a mystery, referred to but never confirmed. Niall thought it best for their current situation, and she agreed. There was a difference between speculation and acknowledgment, and Niall longed to once again keep his personal life private.

Niall sat directly across from Becca in a black fabric directors chair that was just a little too wobbly for Niall's taste. He played with the collar of the grey blazer he had on, beginning to question whether this was the best choice for this kind of interview. Maybe he should have went with the navy sweater, to bring out the blue in his eyes. He shook the thought from his mind, he doubted anyone would care what he was wearing once they heard the words coming out of his mouth.

He glanced over at Becca, her head still buried in her notes. She was taking this thing so seriously, like it was going to be displayed on national news instead of becoming a series of GIFs on stan Twitter. He admired Becca for her work ethic, even though Niall would do most of the talking. He would explain his departure from Capitol, the events leading up to it, and the fact that he was not joining the One Direction Daddy's club quite yet.

There would also be an appearance by Krystal, Krystal who, Niall looked down at his watch, was approximately twelve minutes late. He hadn't seen her since she'd told him the baby wasn't his. He'd sent her a few texts- checking in on things and the baby- but she'd kept things short and to the point, assuring Niall that she was perfectly fine. Niall wondered if he should text her now to make sure she was still coming, especially since Kelsey looked like she was going to start bleeding if she kept chewing on her lip like she was at the moment.

Krystal arrived four minutes later, her cheeks red as she burst into the room. "So sorry I'm late," she announced, tossing her large black tote on the red sofa in the corner in the room. Niall noted that her baby bump was much larger than what he remembered, clearly visible through the crimson dress formed to her body. Niall tried to read her face, but there's a smile plastered to it, masking any emotion other than happiness.

Becca jumped to her feet like she'd just been caught slacking. "Ah Krystal, perfect. If you just want to have a seat next to Kelsey over there, I'm going to start with Niall and then bring you over in a minute."

Krystal offered Kelsey a polite smile as she took a seat next to her, Krystal's hand cradling her baby bump. "I'm glad he's doing this," Krystal said softly, as Becca began giving her final instructions to Niall.

Kelsey turned her head, looking at the blonde girl that for so many months she had hated. Krystal's eyes seemed sincere. "Me too," Kelsey murmured, not quite ready to have a full-on conversation with her former rival. She looked back over at Niall and his eyes met hers for a moment, they're bright and reassuring, reminding her that everything will be okay.

"Ready everyone?" Becca said loudly, bringing everyone's attention back to the task at hand. She looked like a little kid at Christmas, her hands clasped in front of her as if she was moments away from beginning a round of applause.

"Ready as I'll ever be," Niall laughed, and Kelsey heard the nervousness in his voice. She wished she could sit next to him, squeezing his hand through it all.

It all came down to this. Would the fans side with Niall? Would they realize he'd been a pawn in the scheme of a big company and take pity on him for all he'd been through in the past year? Or would they be angry at being lied to and hold it against him?

Becca held three fingers up, signaling to Bradley, the co-worker she'd convinced to help control the camera for the day to start recording after she counts down. When she got to one, she took a deep breath before smiling and stating loudly, "I'm Becca Cam and I'm here with Niall Horan. Now Niall it's my understanding that you have some big news to share with your fans today is that true?"

Kelsey smiled at her friend's bold reporter voice. There was no hesitation in it, like she had been doing this for years. This instantly puts Kelsey at ease. With Becca running the show there was no reason this should go badly.

"That's correct Becca," Niall replied. He internally cringed at the sound of his voice out loud, realizing he resembled more of a newscaster than himself. "I wanted to let my fans know that I have parted ways with Capitol Records and announce the opening of my new record label: NH Records."

"Wow, Niall that is big news," Becca exclaimed, and Niall couldn't help but chuckle at her extreme enthusiasm. "If I can ask, what prompted this switch? I mean Capitol Records is a very prestigious company."

"That's actually why I wanted to sit down with you today Becca, because I want my fans to know what's really been going on over the past few months," Niall inhaled. "A little over a year ago, I met with Capitol in preparation for the release of my new album. We talked about their idea for promotion of the album and I was told that I was to be portrayed as a man in love, and that Capitol had hired someone to act as my girlfriend for PR purposes. If I did not agree to their terms, they would terminate my contract, and there would be no second album."

"So this girlfriend? Is this Krystal Hoffman?" Becca asked inquisitively.

"Right. Krystal was hired by Capitol to portray my girlfriend. They scheduled appearances for us, expected us to go out on dates and so on."

"So you left Capitol because you didn't agree with having a fake girlfriend?"

"That's part of it, but there's more to the story. One night shortly after Krystal and I's first public appearance, I met someone," Niall smiled, his eyes flashing back to when he first laid eyes on Kelsey, her shirt splattered with his beer. "We connected instantly, and although we tried to stay just friends, we couldn't stay away from each other. It kind of felt like we were meant for each other you know? When we started dating, I approached Capitol about allowing me to break up with Krystal and use my real relationship for their PR purposes, but they adamantly refused. They wanted me to continue living a lie."

"Did you break up with the girl?"

"Not then. So when Capitol found out we were still dating, they went after her. They blackmailed her into breaking up with me, and like anyone placed in that situation, she signed their contract and agreed. She was told she could never see me again and never speak about this contract to anyone. I was in a bad place after that. I'd just lost the woman I was in love with."

"But if she signed a contract, how did you find out about all this?" Becca questioned, tapping the pen in her hand against her knee.

"Well," Niall laughed. "I guess that's the part that I would say is all fate. Our paths crossed again and I realized that maybe there was someone else meddling in our relationship. It just didn't seem like her to break up with me so suddenly. The short version of the story is that I finally realized that this girl was worth far more to me than any music contract, and I did some threatening of my own to convince Capitol to drop her contract. Then, I made the decision to drop Capitol Records as my label." Niall said the last phrase with some confidence, it might even fool his fans into thinking that dropping Capitol hadn't been the scariest moment of his life.

"But Niall weren't you seen at an OB appointment with Krystal? Seemed like you were ready to get in on Daddy duty. Are you telling me that was all part of a PR scheme as well?"

"Not exactly. But well, maybe it's better Krystal herself tells you that part of the story?"

Becca nodded, gesturing towards Krystal to come over and take a seat in the empty chair next to Niall.

"Krystal thank you for joining us today," Becca said pleasantly.

Krystal smiled, "Thank you for having me."

"So Krystal this baby business. Is the baby real?"

Krystal laughed, looking down at her baby bump. "Yes, Becca this baby is very much real. But unlike the tabloids have been saying, it is not Niall's baby."

"Then why was Niall at the OB office with you? Was that just part of the PR for the album as well?"

"Actually no. The contract for our relationship ended before that appointment. When I found out I was pregnant, Niall was just," she paused, as if she was hesitant to tell the true story. Krystal looked towards Niall and he gave her a small nod. He needed her to tell the truth, even if the truth meant acknowledging his own faults. The fans deserved the truth.

"He was just the perfect gentleman. He wanted to be there for me. And unfortunately I wasn't exactly honest with him about who the father of the baby was." She paused, biting her lip softly before turning to face Niall directly.

"I'm truly ashamed of my actions and my role in this. I was scared and alone and took advantage of Niall's kindness when I didn't need to. Because after I told Niall the truth, that this wasn't his baby, well he's still been there for me. I just wanted to say," she shifted her gaze from Niall to the Kelsey off-screen. "I'm really sorry for everything that I've put you through. Both of you. The way Niall looks at you, I hope one day I can find someone that looks at me that way. You both deserve to be happy. And I'm hope that telling the true story helps you guys finally get get the happiness you deserve," Krystal's voice shook, and Kelsey wondered if she was about to cry.

Kelsey felt bad for Krystal. It couldn't be easy admitting that she had done something wrong. She surely would get hate for it from the Niall fans- they could be ruthless. And for the first time since she met Krystal, Kelsey feels that her words are sincere, and she wondered if she had truly misjudged her all along.

"So was there ever a relationship between the two of you?" Becca asked and Niall cringed, he hadn't wanted to admit his mistake but he knew he needed to.

"No relationship," Krystal responded quickly. "Just a night with some emotions that shouldn't have happened."

"Thank you, Krystal," Becca said, gesturing Krystal back towards her seat.

As Krystal took a seat, Kelsey noticed her wiping a tear from her eye. "Thank you. For coming and doing this, and for what you said. I know it probably wasn't easy and it won't be easy." Kelsey said softly, and something moves her to place her hand on top of Krystal's and give it a comforting squeeze.

"Before we move on Becca, I just want my fans to know that Krystal is an amazing woman as well. She was simply an actress doing a job. I don't harbor any hard feelings towards her, and I absolutely will not tolerate you guys having any either. Out of all of this, I have gained an amazing friend, and Krystal deserves just as much love and support as the rest of us." Niall glanced over at Krystal who is smiling softly, noticing that Kelsey's hand is on top of hers. He smiles. Maybe the two could finally learn to tolerate each other.

"Well Niall, anything else you would like to say to your fans," Becca straightened herself in her seat.

Niall looked straight into the camera. "The past year has been a challenging one for me,  but I've learned so much. I learned that you can't just be a pawn in someone else's chess game and that when you find someone you love you've got to fight for them, and do whatever it takes. I decided to leave Capitol because I could no longer allow someone else to dictate my life. And I couldn't deceive you guys any longer. My fans are the reason I make music, and lying to you- well, it's not me. The music industry isn't always kind to artists, and this may be a career-ending decision, but it's something I strongly believe in. I hope that you will continue to support me from my own label, and I promise you, from now on there will be no manipulating promotional tactics. Just this goofy Irish lad with dodgy knees."

"One last question Niall," Becca smiled. Niall nodded.

"Are you happy?"

"Very happy," Niall grinned, looking over at Kelsey. He didn't break eye contact with her as he spoke again. "She's the love of my life. Honestly. Truly. Our love story hasn't been easy, but I'm really hoping that after today, we don't have to live in fear of someone finding out about us. We can just be us."

"Do we get to meet this lovely lady?" Becca asked, raising any eyebrow.

"I think I'm gonna keep her to myself for a little while. I've had enough tabloids about my relationship over the past year." He looked over at Kelsey once again and she smiled.

Niall hovered his finger over the blue tweet button with hesitance. He glanced over to  Kelsey who sat next to him, her hand resting gently on his shoulder. She nodded at him, her lips formed into a soft smile.

It was terrifying. The thought that his fans might not have his back. The thought that his record label might not succeed and he would lose his music forever. After I press this button, I'm throwing my phone out the window, he thought to himself.

He took a deep breath, closed his eyes and pressed tweet. Six simple words with the video link.

It's time to speak the truth.

1.) What did you want to do with your life when you were younger? What would the child version of yourself think about the path you paved for yourself?

It depends on which day of the week you asked her. All jokes aside, I went through a few different phases when it comes to goals, but ultimately what I've always wanted was to be loved. While also being independent and not needing to be loved. I suppose I'm doing alright for myself. I haven't fake laughed at any rich men just because they're rich in a while and I consider that a plus.

2.) What is your proudest accomplishment? Don’t be afraid to  talk about what it took to achieve it and how you feel about it as well.

Beth. Being a teen mom wasn't something I chose, but keeping her healthy while she grew inside of me and then being grown enough myself to give her up when I knew that I couldn't handle being a parent was the best thing I've ever done in my entire life. It might be the best thing that I ever do.

3.) If you could do anything you wanted for one whole day, what would it be and why?

Again, it depends on what day of the week it is. Are we talking supernatural here? Sometimes, I need relaxation. Sometimes, I need excitement. Sometimes, I'm feeling a bit nostalgic and would like to go back in time to talk to myself or other people in my life. Sometimes, I wish I could see into the future.

where are they now?

After everything with Biff, Quinn realized that she needed to change her perspective on a few things again. This was nothing new for her as the resident queen of transformation in Ohio. It's a common theme for her that she decides that doing one big, crazy thing will solve all of her problems and turn her life entirely around. Chasing someone that her early high school self would have gone for made her realize that she was backsliding. Her way of trying to undo that was to change her standards, which landed her with Puck again, then a string of questionable relationships for a while and that brought on the realization that focusing on any man was the wrong move.

She needed to focus on herself. Reflecting on herself, her parents, and her past, she thought about how she had always thought that the best she could hope for was to live out her peak in high school and marry someone that would support her and keep her living comfortably as a house wife and stay at home mom with the least amount of drama possible. But she had learned in her senior year and as a young adult that she didn't need to wait for a man. She could get her own.  

The most obvious starting point was figuring out what she was doing at Yale and what she wanted to do afterwards, where she had been studying theatre. Thinking about what she wanted with life, she imagined herself as Glenn Close's Cruella, Wilhelmina Slater, or any other high powered, classy girl boss----- though it didn't necessarily have to be fashion she focused on, she was more interested in other things. Barbie was another idol as a little girl, and she now had a huge interest in women in politics as well. Women's rights were incredibly important to her. No amount of work was too much. She had experience in leadership and organization from being a cheer captain and sorority president at Yale. In high school, she had done a lot with music and performing and it had transformed her in a way that nothing else had been able to before it.

She knew that if she stopped performing and singing, it might lead to issues in her character due to the lack of soul in her life, especially since she was planning on being single again for quite some time. Planning ahead, she took on a job at the Smythe law offices that paid well enough for her to save up while she finished college. She already had a good deal of money (especially in Ohio standards) but she needed more to complete her plan. At the end of it all, she owned her own theater on Broadway where she was able to make sure that there was a place that offered fair and diverse casting for productions that were worth producing, and she was able to perform whenever she wanted. It also meant that she got to put her experience planning events into action, because she could use her establishment for anything she wanted and she wanted to enrich the community. With the defunding of Planned Parenthood, she immediately put the money down to keep a few struggling branches open and continues to do what she can to donate to keep access to healthcare open to all.

OLIVER BRAY: He was the first person that Quinn went to see after she dyed her hair pink. As a skank, she got all of her illegal goods from him. He supplied her with cigarettes, weed (mostly edible), and some pills. She wasn't ever what you would imagine as a huge addict, but she did get pretty hooked on the pills and had to cut him out of her life when she went back to the blonde so that she wasn't tempted to keep taking pills. They've run into each other more than a few times since then, every time they do they date, and almost always because Quinn reached out and contacted Oliver. He was one of her questionable relationships after the canon season finale but it ended amicably again when he went on to LA and she went back to Yale.

FRANNIE FABRAY: They were more distant as kids and teens because Quinn always felt like everything she could do, Frannie had already done twice as good as she'd ever be able to because she was older and wiser and just better all around. Being kind seemed so easy to Frannie too, people liked her so much. But when Quinn finally grew up and got her hands on her own success, the rivalry disappeared.

SEBASTIAN SMYTHE: The two are close friends, which is no surprise because they were both villains in their own right before turning over their prospective leaves and becoming better people. They can talk to each other candidly without the other judging them. She's also grateful for his help with the job at his father's law office while she was in college, because it not only paid better than anything else she could have done and worked with her schedule but it allowed her to make contacts with money makers.

THE UNHOLY TRINITY: I want it known that Quinn is still the leader of the Unholy Trinity and she still makes sure that they all hang out all of the time. She might be a third wheel but she never feels like it.

MERCEDES JONES: I'd like them to have continued to be close since the Jones family allowed Quinn to stay with them while she was pregnant. I'd also like her to continue to talk to the Jones parents as if they were second parents to herself as well. Her own dad gave her nothing but daddy issues, so I can see her really clinging to a second family.

SO in the past couple of months that I haven't bothered touching this account in a while, I have decided to make a come back and actually post some of that good jackieboyman content that some of you probably followed me for.

because I have not drawn in a very, and I mean in a VERY. VERY LONG TIME. I could be very rusty so I'm doing small warmups in my spare time. And the reason for that is because:

1. Too Many Ideas to Pursue

I wanted to take some time off from drawing a bunch of these fanarts because the more I think about the next one, another idea comes in, and another, and another, and the idea generator sorta blew up so I had to take a little chill for a while.

2. Taking A Break

I have actually been drawing non stop since 2012, and I am not gonna lie, it was a TON of pain that my hands had to go through, although procrastination is a factor to my process, I wasn't feeling a lot well with drawing non-stop everyday, so I decided to take a really long rest and start to catch up on the games, anime, and movies that everyone was playing.

3. JSE Fanart

I was deciding whether or not I wanted to keep doing more JSE fanart because, although everyone is very supportive to us artists, and we heavily appreciate the support that all of you have given to us, it is very stale to keep drawing the same thing over and over again. Though my attempts to pull out some OCs that I am proud of and really love drawing, I feel like I needed to wait a little bit more for these guys to actually have been released, since I haven't given them any proper context.

4. Contemplating On College

Some of you wouldn't know but I am currently enrolling in a college at the moment. Trying to focus on finishing the requirements by friday so content will be taken a little longer to be posted.

5. Commissions

So for those of you who know, I have submitted a small commission sheet somewhere around last year of June 2019. Though some took longer than expected because of previously mentioned reasons, I have pulled it off successfully and have met some of your request to your expectations.

I did close it immediately because the styles somewhat didn't appeal to what I actually do normally. Granted, I seperated them only 2 months ago, but I haven't exactly started posting content on said seperate account.

So for the next week, I will be posting the new pieces that I have just whipped up for this month and hopefully, and I really mean HOPEFULLY, open it again in the next month. (Plus I needed a new laptop because the current one seems to be about to die so I really need help with it.)

6. Jackieboyman Anime OP IN PROGRESS

Yes, you've read that right. So far I had been a sitting duck with how I will be presenting this project. BUT, after many months processing the whole storyboard to the extent where I had to listen to the same damn song repetitively for the last 3 months and 2 weeks, I have officially began to create the said opening for the Jackieboyman Anime that I have so wanted to work on for so long.

Though as of now, the storyboard is still in progress, and I am ITCHING to finally get down and jump into the groundwork, all of you would need to be patient with me. I want this anime opening to be of its best and highest quality as I can muster for all of you to enjoy, and because character design wise and how I envision my version of the JBM universe to look like, the process would take a little more time.

I will pull out various polls for all of you to vote as to which design, clothing, and overall thematic essence for each character would be best. I will have to render this as close as to what all of you have voted for and mix it in with my own spices for the final masterpiece to be the work of both fans and creator.

Bear in mind as well that because I'll be busy with college and what not (depending whether this quarantine and virus will end), I'll probably end up sort of delaying the progress a bit so workflow maybe hindered. The release date would probably be somewhere along the lines of early April 2021 or somewhere of late June 2021. Whichever comes first.

Small gifs or processes with how it's going will be posted here specifically. Though small sketches of what the characters would look like or somewhat of a story driven sketch will be posted both here and twitter.

I have made what I hope is a cohesive tutorial on how to fill out your brackets and whatnot. If you do have any further questions, please feel free to message me and I can always help out.

But FIRST, why am I doing this again?

We lost all our concerts for the year (ty stray kids and eric nam for being the only in person concerts I got this year), I lost the opportunity to do poorly in the actual college basketball March Madness and we all need a tiny bit of fun in some form this year! All without having to actually leave and it is SUPER low stakes.

 In fact, I do all of the work and you guys just campaign your little hearts out for your favorite album because the more votes (voting will take place on a google form, which will be covered later) the better and it makes the races more fun for me to watch.

The idea of a fandom March Madness started from a livejournal community waaaay back in the day and I never did well in that either lmao so the idea is 1,000% not mine originally.

tl;dr I participated in this back on LJ in the 2010s, it was fun and low stakes, I added the prize element in the middle of the March Edition.

WELCOME TO MY WORLD LET’S DO THIS

For purposes of this tutorial, I’ll be using a shortened version of the March Madness bracket.

Step one.

I will send you a link to the main bracket which is being done through Google Sheets, what I need you to do is to make a copy and title it [YOUR NAME]’s Bracket and then fill out the entire thing and then share it with me with editing access. I will most likely be making a copy for myself but I will only be editing yours to strike-through the loser of the round and bolding the winner so you don’t have to! Once you make the copy and shared it with me, all you have to really do from there is sit back, relax and vote/promote. 

The first bracket, I believe it says Round of 64 on the bottom tab is the one we will be using!  

Step two.

Below is what the contenders list looks like! In the case of song showdown, it’s done in groups and then ARTIST - ALBUM TITLE. This gets generated into the brackets!

Step three.

Click on the little check box for the choice you want, it will automatically move that choice to the next round.

Here it is again with the entire second round picked out, notice that nobody has been selected yet for the following rounds

Step four.

Repeat what you did in step three for the remainder of the rounds. Pick your favorite for each round and then repeat until it’s all filled out and you get a champion, your champion. The pick you know is that bitch and everyone else is wrong.

Step five.

Vote! How? You say? I will be obnoxious for approximately 3 days with reblogging a link to a google form where you can cast your votes.I’ll be tagging you in the initial post so you don’t get surprised when you see it the fifth time and your name suddenly has appeared. Share that post, bribe your friends, family, dogs. Campaign if you want! If you do campaign I will reblog it and come up with a tag to follow so you can see the cool campaigns. If I was graphically inclined I would do it for you but...I’m not. Anywho

If you look at this spreadsheet, you’ll see how many points each round is worth and how I let the spreadsheet do the math from there.

FAQ (these questions aren’t frequently asked but they could be)

1. March Madness made sense, why are we doing albums when it’s called September Song Showdown?

I was going to do this in April as a song showdown and now I realize it could have been April Album A-Something, but albums are easier to pick than songs and it’s September now. Maybe next September it’ll be a song Showdown.

2. You mentioned prizes???

Yes! I had a couple of friends who aren’t into kpop participate and I bribed them with a prize if they won and stuck to it when @chocolatspring won! Even though Gaby didn’t get her prize until like 2 weeks ago but it’s fine, I’ll be more on top of it this time just in time for the December holidays!

3. How do you know who goes in what spot?

Random.org/lists! I shuffle them 5-10 times and then go through and put them on the main spreadsheet, shown above in the actual tutorial.

4. How do you figure the points?

Spreadsheets, baby! Each round is worth a certain number of points, each album you pick that goes on to fight the next round will earn so many points, those points are then added up and triple checked before I put them on a separate spreadsheet. The spreadsheet does the math from there. 

5. I won, so now what?

Congrats! You have the best intuition and convinced enough people to vote for your fave! On top of being announced as a winner on the final post, I’ll message you and you let me know what your choice of prize is (an album of your choice, a gift card or something else).

5.2 Wait, is this free?

20 bucks, venmo me. Kidding. The only person this will end up costing money for is me. Which is why when I say an album of your choice within reason, I mean I’m not going to say you're limited to a price range, but like...I can’t do a crazy expensive album.

6. What happens if I end up tanking just after the first round?

There’s no coming back after a bad round so welcome to...a second chance bracket! I don’t know how to do that yet, but you can continue to vote, promote, whatever your heart desires, but there will be a small thing I haven’t figured out yet for the person with the least amount of points.

7. Are you participating?

Yes! I don’t gain or lose anything from this so my points don’t really count. So if I do end up winning, the next highest amount is the actual winner.

8. Just to be clear, can people not filling out the brackets vote in the polls?

Yes! Share it on your twitter, reblog the post on your tumblrs! The more votes the merrier! Heck, I got my mom to play in March and showed her pictures and she chose based on that alone for her voting. 

9. How long is each voting round going to remain open?

5 days. Rounds will be open Monday-Friday, I will make the initial post Monday and share it again throughout the day, a reminder on Wednesday and then finally on Friday with plenty of time before the form closes. Results will be shared Saturday afternoons and I will spend Sunday getting the new round ready.

How to gif ~

(a very partial tutorial)

Hey everyone, I’m Milo, fandom contributor since 1887. It had been brought to my attention that some of you might want to learn how to do gifs so I’m here to share the knowledge. Of course it’s only how I do gifs, and it’s not the only way, probably not the simplest way but heh, it’s mine.

First of all: you need to choose the couple of seconds you want as a gif. Seriously, it’s half the work. Think about how your gif will loop, what the first image (and thumbnail) will be and most importantly: work with your platform of choice’s limitations. 1 gif at a time on twitter, 440×220 min, 10 gifs on tumblr, 500px wide, 5Mo, etc.

Material:

Giffing Tool: a powerful tool, free of use but if you have a couple bucks to spare, it’s Pay What You Want.  

Photoshop: The portable CS4 version by Majax31 exists. It’s old but it  does a tremendous job, also, it’s light, ready to use and easy to find.  It’s still not legal though. I happen to use Photoshop CS4.  

Let’s say you want to gif a close-up of some Pro Wrestling Noah boys like any other sane person. Well, excellent choice!

Pause your vid a couple of seconds before the right moment, open Giffing Tool. GT works as a way to record your screen.

New > Hold your click to select the zone

Play your vid, don’t move anything. It looks like nothing is happening but GT is recording. When the scene you want is finished, tap esc and GT will compile your gif, give it a bit of time. The closer you are from the actual size you want, the less time it will take.

In GT’s window, you select the length of your gif a bit better (1), click the size to avoid losing quality in an unwanted resize (2) and save it with the appropriate icon (3, shortcut is S). Step 2 is super important, you need the actual size to be the same as the size your gif will get out. If GT change the size, you will lose quality.

Saving with GT takes time, you can continue to use your computer normally while it does, be patient.

If you bought the full version of Giffing Tool, you can decide to resize your gif here and be done with it! But if you didn’t GT will add a banner you might want to cut with Photoshop or of course you might want to play with colors, size and decide on all the frames you want or don’t want, to the next level with you!

So yeah, now’s the time to edit your gif in photoshop! Hooray! After a lot of trials and error, I found some secrets to make this work. First open Photoshop then it goes like this:

File > Importation (down there) > Video frames to layers

I don’t know about the newer versions of Photoshop but you’ll need to write the name of your gif (with the extension) in the File Name to find it, it will not appear otherwise. Write it when you’re already in the right folder. By the way I remember now that you need Quicktime for this to work but it’s a pretty basic log so I guess this shouldn’t be a problem. Anyway, import it even if it does not appear (as long as you have the name of the file right, it will work): [Mark frame animation] must be checked in the next window and we’re good!

Now comes some work with Photoshop. Before you get started, you’ll need to get the animation window (Window > Animation). You only have to get it once, it stays in your setup for later uses. In that window you can check your gif frame by frame, delete duplicates (fair warning though, deleting too many duplicates will make your gif lighter but also will alter its rhythm, again, trials and errors, test everything!), decide on how fast you want your gif,

Another warning: what you change on the first image of your gif will apply to all the frames. If you wants to change only one, select the one and the layer associated with it. If you wanna change only the first, duplicate it (first icon in 2).

1/ You must use that tool to select the part of the image you’ll need. If you didn’t pay for Giffing Tool, you can use that tool to cut the banner they add. Once your image is selected, use Crop (here Recadrer). With Image Size (here Taille de l’image) you can resize your image depending of your platform’s limitations (on tumblr 500px wide).

2/ The animation window as I already said is super useful, you can delete, duplicate, move around frames.

3/ Don’t get there too fast but this is where you can edit colors and light. Experimentation is key here. Only one thing I can add: remember to select the first frame in the animation window if you want your edit on all frames. BUT put your edit on an empty layer on top of all the other layers in the layer window. If you know nothing about photoshop, a word on layers: here Layer/Calque 1 is hidden, you can make it visible by clicking the empty square next to the preview. If you do that then do the same on Layer 2, layer 2 will hide layer 1. The layer on top is always the one showing first. You can also erase some parts of a layer to show the one under it. Everything is possible in photoshop! Add a frame on the first layer so it shows on all the other layers! Add stickers! Most importantly: try things! fail! learn from it and do it again! If you have questions, I’ll answer them as best I can.

Last thing I’ll add is how to save your gif. You need to use Save for Web... in the file menu. You’ll get a preview, on the upper right corner, change the second setting as GIF.

2/ This is where you can check the size of your gif, super important depending on where you want to publish it.

3/ Save... You did it!!!!

It might sound complicated but it really isn’t that much, all the work you’ll do the first time will be useful forever, you’re learning a new skill but thankfully that skill is super easy to remember. And allows all sorts of awesome things! A whole new horizon is opening!

@kazuchikaokada​ 😌 i’m not sure you’re gonna learn much with all that ‘cause your gifs are already so nice?! it depends a lot on vid quality I guess but really you’re probably already doing all that? Maybe if you don’t use photoshop yet it could give you a whole new set of possibilities?! Anyway, sorry if this didn’t help, I hope it’s still useful for someone out there anyway!

thank you @mika--82 for tagging me to this, even when the original version was not a tag game :’D I appreciate it a lot and your kind words about my simple edits have made me smile :’) it was also nice to read about your edits and your creation process! you put a lot of thought into those and I admire that. ♥

I’ll choose five of my own faves too, so here we go (not in any particular order):

1. Atlas: Enneagram + The Untamed  (first post) this series was the reason I started all this. I absolutely adore Sleeping at Last’s songs (and hopefully manage to make more for them too bc god those lyrics deserve the world) and then I got into enneagram types. I had a blast trying to assign types for all the characters I chose to use for this and hopefully, I get to finish this series soon. also, it’s been a joy to hear ppl’s thoughts about these edits, be it through tags or some other way ♥ (my favorite edit out of all these is my mxy one if anyone is interested. I struggled with it but it looks great now. he is also the same type as me and I hold him dear bc of that)

2. Xicheng + beside you (post)

this is one of the first edits I made bc this drama just will never let me go, even after all this time. I also thought there was a lack of xicheng content out there so I tried to help with that a little bit. I’ve gotten so much better with editing after this post but I still think fondly of this one. 

3. Wangxian + repeat until death (post)

my first edit that makes use of that line thing. I learned a ton of new things while making this bc I really am not that familiar with editing and everything happens through trial and error. I liked how this turned out and I was happy to give something this soft for this amazing song. Novo Amor has absolutely heartbreaking songs that fit very well with my usual writing vibes, so am very proud for managing to reach my vision with this edit. 

4. Wangxian + this quote (post)

this quote came to me through my friend who always talks with me about this amazing drama, about all the relationships in it, and then shares heartbreaking and wholesome content with me through tumblr and twitter. I lost sleep while editing this bc I had to leave this unfinished for the night and continue the next day. I love how this turned out tho and I think I managed to do the quote justice. my idea was to show them looking at each other while the other is not aware, mixing together both of those first times they did that in their lives. 

5. Wangxian + ribcage (post)

this last one was hard to choose bc I could’ve picked several. I like my newest xicheng edit I did for xicheng week and also that one edit I made for LWJ (which seems sadder than it really is bc apparently ppl can’t see the hope I put in the last pic haha but it’s fine, we love pain in this house). this one is special tho and deserves to be here. this is not probably one of my best work or anything like that but the song is special to me and I loved to make this for my friend. I also learned new things with this and I love it how this looks now. I hope I get to make more edits for wangxian and probably to xicheng too, even if their scenes are very limited. 

thank you once more for tagging me! Hi, everyone! How are you today? I bet you're pretty tired of being mostly cooped up inside. But don't worry--I have something right here that might catch your interest.

As some of you may know, March is National Peanut Month. Now, that's not exactly something worth celebrating for peanut allergists...but, on the other paw, March is also National Nutrition Month, National Kidney Month, Optimism Month, Spiritual Wellness Month, National Women's History Month, Irish-American Heritage Month, and International Listening Awareness Month, among even more things. March is also, of course, the first month of Spring. So there's much more to celebrate in March than just peanuts.

However, in this blog post, I'm going to celebrate peanuts. I could go on and on about peanut butter, my favorite food ever, the average jar of which is made with hundreds of peanuts. But, I'm just going to focus one one peanut this time--one of the most famous peanuts of all time--the one and only Mr. Peanut, mascot for the Planters brand of nuts and snacks. Why? Because he's my biggest cartoon crush.

Nope. It's all true!

All the recent hub-bub about Mr. Peanut, including the infamous commercial where he literally dies, reminded me of this earlier commercial I saw on T.V. back in 2018 (the first video featured in this post), which utilized the same sleek design he was animated in during his passing. After finding it on YouTube, I found other videos of him, and this social media browsing eventually brought me to his Twitter account, where I browsed all of his posts from 2018/19. I immediately fell for his optimistic attitude, his sweet personality and especially his support for his friends and followers...and the rest is history. He has the looks, he has the heart--and now he's helping me to grow up.

But why him?? How could an overdressed anthro peanut top, let alone compete with, these practical princes of men? How would crushing over a cartoon help me grow up in any way? And last (and strangest) of all, why am I suddenly going "nuts" over the now-defunct version of a character who just 2 months ago died and came back as a baby?

I will answer all those questions in approximately...right now!

Being autistic, I have a more child-like mind-set than others my age--one facet of this is the ability to immerse myself in imaginary worlds and connect with characters. Thinking of characters, "talking" to them and even trying to act like them has gotten me through many a tough time. As I take inspiration from their personalities and actions, I find more fun and creative ways to spice up my every-day life, stay calm when things get stormy, cheer me up when I feel down, or pep me up when I get sluggish and demotivated. I use different characters to help me with different aspects of life. The two types that always helped me the most were characters with pure hearts, and characters I had crushes on.

Recently, though, I had been looking for a character that would help me take on one of my toughest challenges--accepting the fact that the world is equally as cruel as it is kind, while staying a calm and collected person, and then handling it all just by myself--to put it in two words: growing up. I won't go into detail (in this post, at least), but life had been extremely cruel to me last year. I had a lot of trouble accepting it, and I was losing my self-control. But considering that I'm going on 23 now, I knew that I had to get it together, or else I would stay a crying ball of nerves, trapped on a bed, forever. Being one of the less restrictive aspects of having the heart of a child, I knew that modeling myself after a good-natured fictional character would be a perfect start--but I needed one exceptionally powerful character to pull this off. I needed a crush with a pure heart.

Then it suddenly and silently occured to me, as I continued to take in his various pictures, videos, GIF's and Tweets, that Mr. Peanut was it.

His sleek and curvy body, his elegant limbs, refined features and gentlemanly disposition--not to mention the fact that he's wearing white gloves and has one eye always covered--immediately calls to mind my best cartoon crushes: Geniusman from the anime "Tottemo! Luckyman" and Mettaton EX from the game "Undertale" (who are both looking salty alongside Mr. Peanut on the winner's podium in the top picture). But what really got me was what he didn't have that the other crushes did, he made up for with his unique personality, that my other crushes, in turn, didn't have:

You see, Mr. Peanut rests comfortably on two fine lines that few characters have even been able to stand on. The fine line between "handsome and stylish" and "conceited and mean", and the fine line between "peppy mascot" and "mature and modest gentle-man". All except for a "brief" 10-year stint where they tried to "re-invent" him (Yes, I'm talking about the one who spent the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade dabbing), he's always been a gentle, friendly, quiet character whose main goal in life (besides selling nuts) is to help people and make them happy, "shelling out" plenty of pep while also remaining proper and well-composed.

He never got angry for more than a second or two, and handled (almost) any problem he faced in the smartest, most dignified and most fun way possible. And of course, he's very sweet and always thinks of those he cares about first. He also, despite being a mascot for snacks, loves to play sports and stay fit and healthy--and he encourages others to do the same. And finally, despite being a mascot in general, he always had this quiet, unassuming air to him. He made all his necessary appearances and entertained his customers, yet he always acted very natural about it and never hammed it up or acted super wild and goofy--a thing that most other cartoon mascots fail to do.

So he's not just eye-candy--he's also a perfect role model. That covers the "first of all". Not only does he give me the incentive to be a dignified lady who always does the right thing first, but he gives me that euphoric, limerance-enduced energy I need to really want to act upon it. All my aspirations to be more courteous, be more proper and elegant, be more brave, lead a healthy and active life-style and be a good mascot for Ekaki No Mi are finally coming to fruition. That covers the "second of all".

Yes, this all sounds very silly. But In a "nut-shell", he's the reason I'm finally growing up, so in a way, this is all anything but silly. I would be a hot mess without him...which is exactly why I'm speaking of him in present-tense (using "is" instead of "was"), and pretending he never became Baby Nut or even died in the first place. Here's where I cover the "third of all".

For those who don't already know about his apparent death and resurrection: for their big pre-Super Bowl LIV commercial (the second video featured), Planters took a very unusual, very controversial approach: Their preview commercial depicted Mr. Peanut sacrificing himself to save his friends by letting go of a branch on a cliff that was too heavy to hold him and actors Matt Walsh and Wesley Snipes. The actual Super Bowl commercial (the third video featured) depicted his funeral, which the Kool-Aid Man, among others, attended. A magic tear from the Kool-Aid Man caused a peanut plant to grow out of the ground and sprout a "Baby Nut"--the official reincarnation of Mr. Peanut. Here are the two commercials, in order:

But what people often don't realize is that Mr. Peanut is a cartoon--a form of art--and art, except in very specific cases, is meant to be interpreted by the viewer. If the story isn't satisfactory, people can ignore some parts and pretend that others play out differently, until it fits what they believe in. And the characters and their actions can hold secret meanings that only the viewer sees. In fact, the same character can don different personalities and clothes, and exist in different universes, doing different things--all at the same time. (Think of all the different versions of Mickey Mouse that exist at the same time, even today.)

So is the case with Mr. Peanut. As long as his original likeness still exists--anywhere in this world--he's still alive and well. And even if the actual Planters corporation says he's Baby Nut now, he's still the same old Mr. Peanut in another part of the Internet, in another part of the world, or in any alternate universe. Many, actually. In one of them, he could be "Miss Peanut". In another, he could be a radical "Teen Nut". And in another still, he could actually be the evil capitalist peanut everybody says he is--you know, the one who struts around in his aristocrat clothing while roasting his fellow "pea-ple" and selling them to humans as food in order to get richer...

...which I like to think is not true, because the real peanuts he sells for your eating pleasure could never have flexy bright-yellow shells or humanoid features, could never breathe, cry, blush, say "Whoa!" when startled, wear clothes, be cuddled by a person with a peanut allergy without triggering it, and couldn't even survive on their own for more than 4 months, let alone 104 years. When they grow, it doesn't happen in the blink of an eye--peanut plants take about 3 or 4 weeks to mature (on days that strictly aren't frosty, no less), and the peanuts themselves grow under the ground--totally different from how Baby Nut came into being.

In short, the peanuts we eat aren't cartoons, like Mr. Peanut is. And since he is, I can interpret him any way I want, just as any other person can. So he doesn't have to be a cannibalistic capitalist. He can be the dapper yellow fellow who sells and eats yummy, natural and nutritious morsels that happen to look a bit like him--think of how humans eat little crackers and gummies that look like other people--and, most importantly, is not dead and never will be, because people still love him and believe in him, and belief and imagination transcend death, at least when it comes to fictional characters.

(I especially have the right to believe he's dead because it's one thing to kill off a character in a series for story reasons--it's another thing to kill a revered and internationally-known brand mascot just to create a social media buzz and generate profits. Now that's capitalism!)

But at the same time, I can't help but admit that it was at least a unique social media experiment, and despite the nasty secret intent behind it all, it was very interesting to finally get to see how Mr. Peanut would die, how he got born (and reborn), and what he looks like as a baby. And honestly, with his big round eyes, squidgy body and dainty features, I actually think Baby Nut is pretty cute--certainly too cute for me to want to break out a mortar and pestle and make peanut butter out of him--but he's just not Mr. Peanut. Mr. Peanut was such a unique character that it takes some very special minds to make a character that even comes close to a replacement--sadly, Baby Nut just doesn't make the cut.

Thanks to the power of love and imagination, though, he's still his good old self in my heart. Besides, he may just grow up and come back some day. So in conclusion, he still is, not was, and always will be, the best role model and "husbando" I could ever ask for. He's got the looks. He's got the love. He's cute. He's graceful. He's dapper. He's daring. He's silly. He's sexy. He's serene. He's cheerful, and he always brightens my day. He's everything I could ever want, and more.

Some day I plan to release an art collection featuring the lovable legume sometime in the near future. I would have each picture creatively high-light a different aspect of his personality, taking inspiration from charming vintage art-work that would fit the theme of the picture as well as actual Planters merchandise, and I would utilize various retro art styles and techniques from different time periods to give each picture a distinctive "old-fashioned" vibe.
