Chilchuck analysis speedrun: As a hardworking half-foot who grew up poor and discriminated against and had his gullibility taken advantage of multiple times in his early adventuring days, Chilchuck thinks optimism is a dangerous flaw. He’s stressed and strict all the time because his job is noticing details like traps that could get everyone killed before anyone knows it, he takes the lives of everyone to be on his shoulders, and with the way he speaks about it that probably partly reflects how he felt about taking it upon himself to provide for his family too. His life’s always been pretty centered around work and has become even moreso now that his wife left and everyone is independent, and due to past events he’s very iffy with bonding with coworkers. He thinks feelings and job are a disaster mix. Like with his wife or with parties hiring him as sacrifice, being open or having good faith is vulnerability which can get you hurt, so he processes and shows all his stress as anger instead of worry. Doing strict dieting probably isn’t helping the irritability what with hunger, and on top of being a hunger suppressant alcohol might be the main stress reliever he has.

OH YEAH. okay one thing I DO want to talk about from Skyfall. That I think we should be talking about more. is the "he went into the priest hole for TWO (2) DAYS" thing.

I had like. known that was A Thing, but ig didn't see or forgot what it looked like. but the first look at it I was like. whoa. this is.... how do I say. like there's something visceral and primal and primitive about it just being bare rock. and I made a comment about how insane that is, and esp seeing the mine/cave-like rock and the thought of TWO DAYS down there.. that it's sth "like returning to some sort of primordial earthly womb (tomb)"

but then later they showed that the priest hole is NOT just like a bolthole. but a whole-ass tunnel system!!! EXTRA wild! what was Bond doing down there? WHERE exactly was he in the priest hold then? Was he hunkered down in some corner? Was he wandering around the caves like some sort of primordial spectre.

also there's something interesting/cool about it being like. seemed like it was just going to be a bolthole, and then they revealed it was this whole-ass tunnel system. Skyfall has a lot of maze/hidden/hiding symbolism, and there's something interesting about there being this, like. hidden earthly labyrinth at the heart/hearth/underneath Skyfall.

also the idea of baby Bond wandering a stone labyrinth under the very bones of his ancestral home after the death of his parents... and the whole when he came out he wasn't a boy anymore or whatever it was exactly Kincade said.... hmmm......... Minotaur? Minotaur vibes perhaps? I think there is something here- I think there's something to be said about hidden monstrosity/adversity bringing out monstrosity in us, plus the whole nature/nurture question of like, Bond and HIS "nature," was he born brutal or was he made brutal

(by his career, by his forging as a 00 agent, by M's machinations-- speaking of machinations. but okay god the way she. Manages him... I DO think there's a lot of interesting parts throughout the movies but there was a particular moment in Skyfall when she was like. hunt them down. for Ronson. like ggngng that was like. the emotional equivalent of those loop/stick leashes they use to capture stray dogs.... lowering the loop around his neck and tightening... and then once it's tightened she can move him around cuz it's a stick and not just a rope leash, she can literally physically lead him...) (and also the nature/nurture question of Silva's rats thing)

Okay, I admit, the art ain’t the best, this is like a first draft and it definitely needs more tweaking, but I had a thought, so I went and drew it

This thought came because I was really bored and went to go get a book from the library, and while I was doing so, listening to a song I heard on a Mega Man X speedpaint, my brain was like “what if you crossed over Transformers with Mega Man?” And then I figured I fight as well draw that when I got back

I should note though, that I know very little about Mega Man, or X, which the style is more based on. I’ve played like, a tiny bit of one game and I heard some of the lore years ago. So sorry to Mega Man fans

But yeah, so this is what I made, basically Optimus and Megatron in a more Mega Man style, though with some tweaks because I didn’t want to make them look entirely human

Like I said above, I know the art isn’t great. I learned through this that I have seemingly forgotten how proportions work, and also I don’t know how to draw waist down anymore. I need to work on that

I’d say this needs a few more tries before I get it right, and definitely more practice. Some more actual looking at the style of Mega Man/X would probably do me some good as well

I was considering just showing it to you in sketch form, since I knew it wouldn’t turn out great, but I figured I might as well power through for a little bit more effort

But I think the designs are fine? At least, coming from someone with little Mega Man knowledge? They still need more work, but they aren’t horrible

Anyways, on to more thoughts on this story in general

I think they still transform, just maybe not into the same style of vehicles they do in normal Transformers. Maybe a bit more simplified and cartoonish, I don’t know. I’ll have to work that out

Also Optimus is supposed to have an axe here, sort of in the same vein as Zero’s sword, I just didn’t feel like drawing it. I don’t know if Megatron’s laser arm is retractable or not

As for their roles? I’m not really sure. I want to say these two are sort of like cops, in a similar vein to the Maverick Hunters in X. But that’s probably also because I’m imagining Zero and X, and I don’t know if it fits them

But for now, I suppose that’s what Optimus and Megatron are here. They live on a different version of Cybertron, and they’re partners who work in some form of law enforcement that deals with out of control Transformers

Not sure what the details of this situation are though. Whether this is them before their split and something in their work causes them to switch sides and Megatron to go rogue and start his own faction, or if this is after the war has ended and the two are working to deal with Transformers who refuse to stop fighting and causing harm for the rebuilding Cybertronian society

But I thought the idea seemed neat, and I have finished drawing it, so here you are
