Thank you for getting me to finally try pixel art! I‘ve always wanted to get into pixel art but I never knew what to start with and always ended up procrastinating. Your blog and the post you made on learning pixel art were what finally pushed me to give it a go. It was really helpful and I managed this little animation in Libresprite.

I definitely want to improve and your art is like the ultimate goal lol. Do you have any tips or instructions for how to get better or on what to focus on in the future? I‘d appreciate any kind of criticism/input you are willing to give! How do you manage to make such gigantic and beautiful landscapes?

i hope you don't mind but i edited the sprite a little, just to illustrate some stuff

🤺Animation stuff

i added an extra frame near the top of the arc so it slows down. this is called ease or slow in/out and usually happens at the beginning and end of movements. u can do even more slow but this is just a quick version

i also removed the middle frame (where the tail is straight down) to make the swing appear a bit more powerful. this could be the principle of timing in the same video. you can exaggerate smears if you do this, its up to you!! lately i tend to exaggerate stuff a lot, things arent super noticable in motion

i also got a good bit of advice from nickwoz that helped me, basically when you begin to animate, it really puts the rest of the sprite being still into focus. try to think of how you could animate other parts of the body, even subtly. and sometimes if individual pixels stay still they can catch the eye in an unintended way as well, just keep it in mind!!

if you want to learn animation more, you could take a look at duelyst sprites, they have incredible idle and ability animations, i study them a lot

heres one i downloaded a long time ago. i recommend just downloading stuff you like and looking at it!! i have a huge collection of pixel inspo. slowing animations down can really help you understand whats going on. its just a bunch of simple elements put together that makes it look so good.

❓ how to learn: study (and practise a lot)

what i mean by study: draw it, copy it, try to understand it. you can try to change characteristics about it. changing the angle or lighting can help u understand how something works in 3 dimensions.

sometimes it takes time, dont worry, you will figure out your own style through doing studies, its all a process

❓ how to draw landscape details?

study pixel artists and how they do it recommendations: fool, slym, jubilee, deceiver

also please look at real world references!! you got to build that visual library

❓ how to learn composition?

study traditional artists or animation. i did a ton of studies of ghibli backgrounds which i think helped my growth a lot recommendations: arcane, studio ghibli, traditional painters

im gonna break down a piece as well and maybe that will help. this is one from 2022 but its still one of my most popular and its pretty simple too!!

if we remove all the fancy stuff what we have is actually really simple. just a few large, overlapping shapes that all point towards our focal point. it's the brightest area with the most contrast and many edges point into it.

go to pinterest or google and just search "pretty landscape" or "mountains" or something and you can see what i'm doing is nothing special or unique!! break it down into bigger shapes to begin with, its just different areas of material mostly.

and heres how you can make any landscape from any colours. purple sky or mountain? orange grass? ok !! it all works, it doesnt matter. i just blend the colours.

when parts of the landscape are in the distance they become closer to the sky colour as there is more "sky" in between you and it. its called atmospheric perspective. so if the sky was red, the clouds would fade towards red.

OKKK i dont know what else to say so i hope that helps!! honestly 90% of what i do is intuitive and hard for me to really explain, so you dont have to know The Rules, you just kind of pick up stuff as you go.

i have a bunch of ocs but I’ll just talk about my main oc ryoko right now !!

her full name is ryoko ‘007’ aizawa. I’ll explain the 007 in a minute !! she’s aizawa’s adoptive daughter.

her parents (her dad more specifically, her mom was more of a bystander) are both from very wealthy families and merged. Her parents had an arranged marriage and after some chatter to get to know each other they’re conversations take a little bit of a turn..and inbetween bonding about their favorite movies oop! A lil comment about how the world would he better off without heroes..oh you think so too ? Well look at that, we have so much in common!! long story short they both decide that the want to create something that will be able to take down all might and the entirety of hero society and it’s restrictions,,and I’m pretty sure you can guess what that something was ! nine months later ryoko is born yipeee…!

during her entire pregnancy ryokos mom went through some quirk experiments (sponsored by doctor garaki 👍) because they knew that with both their quirks alone they wouldn’t be able to create a super weapon. (ryokos dad has an overhaul type quirk, and her mom has a healing sort of quirk) so they did some experiments hoping something would change in the womb, and when she was born the kept on doing experiments until she started manifesting a quirk w no attributes from her either of her parents and manifested a fully different quirk than she was originally meant to have,

since she had those experiments done ryokos body adapted to be able to handle her quirk, but it’s not perfect unfortunately.

heres a simple little chart of how it works ! (BTW I DO NOT DRAW LIKE THIS ANYMORE THIS IS OOOOLLLLDD😭😭😭😭)

her quirk is a lot like neijires as in she uses her own energy and converts it into power ! The amount she uses shows in her hair :3 ryoko tho, unlike neijire can do multiple things from sending blasts, to powering herself up to make parts of her body stronger, to making it hard objects like stepping stones she uses to navigate and weapons like dual swords or chains to restrain ppl !! she can also drain other peoples energy (and from her surroundings, but thats only in 100% mode ! ) because of the fact that her body had been modified, ryoko can carry more energy into herself than regular people which is why she can drain energy without any major drawback to a certain extent ! However, her drawbacks are way more severe, overusing her quirks makes her sleepy and drowsy, it gives her nosebleeds and very worse case scenario if she were to have too little or too much energy she could die :0 !!

(ALSO !! I lil extra tidbit: ryoko is capable of sensing peoples energy’s if she concentrates hard enough, it works better if shes seen them before, but she can sense all the energy in humans in her surroundings or if she has a picture, tho it’s slightly weaker and is limited to one person at a time. This is a form of remote viewing that i gave her bc of my obsession w stranger things i had !!😭)

its a pretty powerful quirk that her parents and other scientists knew they could use well, but unfortunately for them ryoko ended up liking heroes (she was barely educated, so she had no idea that she felt admiration for heroes and especially all might, she was alsovaguely aware that she was taught to do the wrong things, because she’d be forced to use her quirk on robots/ small animals in some cases.)

her parents weren’t supposed to feel any affection towards her so they decide to just give her a code name 007 :D which i realized a little too late was the same as james bond..woops😭

anyways fast forward to the biggg “earthquake” incident, shes rescued by a group of heroes, eraser head included :D unfortunately shes detained in tartarus since her being in a constant state of panick set her quirk off and she couldn’t stay in a regular hospital so ryoko has canonically been to tartarus as a inmate at the age of 4 😭! Oh forgot to mention this, but ryoko got her quirk veryy early due to the experiments done before her birth and after.

since ryoko cant control her quirk an aizawa can cancel them, they’re a pretty good matchup !! Fast forward some more and shes living with him ! he adopts her and lets her go to school, where she meets izu n katsuki and they quickly become friends because. Of COURSE. My main ocxcanon ship is a CHILDHOOD FRIENDS TO LOVERS ONEEE😭😭😭😭will i ever stop. raise your hand if you’ve ever seen that one comin

What I think of metalocalypse ships

Skwistok- it's. Okay? I can see why it's a thing as they're the most conventionally attractive, they have a funny dynamic and they technically do work well together but it's just bland. Personally they really fit the rival siblings sort of vibe, skiwsgaar bullying toki because that's what older brothers do and they just seem like very close friends that mean a lot to eachother then anything super romantic/sexual (or if anything i love a solid qpr). IF ITS DONE CORRECTLY and you actually flesh out both charecters I've read a couple fantastic fanfics but otherwise it's a 6-7/10 for me.

Nickles- fuck yea, pre-klok snb pickles and young Nathan? Fuck yea. Late deth-klok emotionally constipated co-parents? Fuck yea. They already care about eachother so much from contributing so much to the band, and they've known eachother forever. Love it 👍👍👍👍 10/10

Dickface- kind of what happens when fandoms don't want to include the less attractive charecter, and as someone who does like murderface this isn't the greatest ship BUT I see why it exists. The Christmas special? Great! 6/10

Nategail- eh. It could've been SO GOOD GUYS I LOVE ABIGAIL!! But unfortunately it just was NOT fleshed out enough and if they gave us reasons to care about the ship then sure but CMON that proposal scene was so fucking awkward. 5/10

Now we get into the rair pairs

Natecharles- fuck yea any creations I've been surrounding this ship have been very high quality and I think it's sweet. 8/10

Skwisgaar/murderface- I actually really like this one WHEN. Skiwsgaar is the one that first starts liking murderface not the other way around. It can be used to show that regardless of appearance it turns out that people will like you for being YOU and it's generally pretty nice.

Nategaar- aha yea give it to me, it's like. Yea. This ship shakes my head like an etcha sketch. It's the most musically driven people in the band, the most most likely to pursue music afterwards if the band ever ended, both perfectionists when it comes to their creations and they both have a tendency to work until they drop. Yes. 9/10

Magnus/Charles- the only reason I even mention them is because @feeshies wrote the most in-depth fic I've honestly read to date surrounding this paring and the characterization of both of them has honeslty made me like them as a whole. I love the idea of the DRAMA when magnus got kicked out to also lose another person he cared about and Charles choosing the band over him, as a tragedy enjoying YUM

Pickles/toki- ehhh, there's just too many parental caregiver vibes for it to really work. They both deeply care for eachother and they obviously are very close but yknow it's not like a actual relationship type thing. 3/10

Tokigail- not my fave but honestly not horrible for a show with like a single female charecter. I don't think their good in like an actual relationship but I love the idea of a very closeknit friendship forged from sharing horrible experiences. 4/10

Hammertooth- such a landmine I'm not even going to talk about it

Poly klok- yes. Just, as a queer person who is also aromantic I get such joy seeing them all together and happy, no matter the dynamic they all have lovely chemistry and i love scenes where their all just hanging out and having fun

Honestly, I really enjoy the creator and creation vibes that Frankenstein has, however I always loathed the OG story how much of a coward Frankenstein actually was when faced with his creation

So here's what I'm gonna do. This is a new character, I'm gonna do this little blurb then write more for him when I'm not super busy with work 👍

"It's abhorrent to the laws of nature, they said" your voice echoes across the vast lab you've built but by bit over the years, in an abandoned castle no less.

"His ideas are that of being so repugnant as to stir up positive antagonism!" Steadily your voice grows as you lug the newly claimed body parts across the tile flooring, the stench of rot soon to be scrubbed clean from the limbs as they're positioned just so on the metal table where your prize lies dormant.

Aeneas

The abomination of body parts dug fresh from graves towns near and far from your lab. Despite the creatures nightmarish beginnings, how you adored it already. "Hello, my sweet," you coo softly, peering down at the breathtakingly beautiful creature you've crafted so lovingly with your own two hands.

Placing down its right arm with a heave, you line it up to the creature's shoulder as you babble absentmindedly. "Took half a fortnight to find an arm that matches your demeanor, dear Aeneas, but when the butcher was buried I knew his arms would be strong enough, bulky enough to match your other arm perfectly."

With a curved needle and thread you'd received as gift for your hard work, you placed the severed arm carefully against the stump of its shoulder you began to stitch, carefully, slowly, maybe twice as many stitches than normal but the thread was tricky. It was as delicate as a spiders web, and yet stronger than steel cable. "And think, my dear Aeneas all of this possible because I aided a trapped fairy in her escape! Now I've this spool of thread that she said would bring you to life!"

You continue your work for hours, stitching the last limbs while talking mindlessly to the body You've created piece by piece.

Finally, after the final stitch, you let out a yawn. "Well, that will be done. Yet tonight I must sleep. We will continue this in the morning, Aeneas." With a pat to the hip of Aeneas, you leave the room.

You don't notice the thread glowing a faint golden light. You don't notice the body you'd stitched together take its first breath with closed eyes.

When you wake in the morning, returning to the lab with a slip in your step, you do notice something that sends your heart into a frenzy.

"AENEAS!!" There is no body on the metal table. No corpse, or body parts, no blood, no trace of the creature. You panic, rushing into the lab to see if you can find any trace of your beloved creation, scrambling around until-

One massive hand grips the back of your collar, stopping you in place. "H... Hello... my s- ... Sweet."

The broken voice that sounds like a beast having eaten a mouth full of gravel isn't what gets your attention first. It's the greeting... The same one you've always greeted Aeneas with, even if unintentionally so.

Slowly you turn and look up. It's eyes aren't the nice hazel eyes you scooped out of the hunter you found one day roaming the forest, they're bright gold and glowing just slightly.

The horror and the worry melts in an instant as you turn properly and reach both hands up to Aeneas's face with a bright grin. You note how confused Aeneas seems, peering down at you with a confused innocence as he mimics what he must have heard the most. "Hello, my sweet," you repeat.

And for a fascinating and heartwarming moment, this beautifully horrifying being you've crafted attempts to smile by muscle memory alone, closing its eyes slowly and leaning forward into your hands just enough with a strange rumbling resonating from it.

Just my opinion on gender expression tied to clothing and how it relates to naru and Enstars in general

There was a Bit of a drama on Enstarstwt lately and basically it’s sort of the same… Rivalry? Disagreement? That has been going on between fans for a long time who want and like naru to present herself super girly (skirts, pink, your typical idea of girl) and fans who don’t want her to have to conform to an idea of hyper femininity.

And anyway that brought to mind one thing that bothers or worries me about fans pushing for the idols in general to outright wear dresses and skirts in the game is that - as much as I would like it too, I’m not sure if it’s as revolutionary as people think it would be?

Because I think it would be used as shock value, and. That doesn’t feel really good either. Even the April fools thing of Hajime as a girl student… well, it’s April fools and that has an under layer of comedy rather than a serious non gender conformative - OR genuine expression of femininity through clothing.

But I know that what makes the various cross dressing gags more ‘ok’ when it comes to enstars is that akira himself said I think in a recent interview that he writes the characters as if they’re girls, and gender expression across all characters is I would say very nuanced and supportive of femstars interpretations. It’s not hard to understand why femstars is so popular cuz I think akira himself would be like 👍 that’s epic just like me fr.

Well I just wanted to get this worry outside of my head, cuz it comes up every time the bright young people online are like THEY GOTTA WEAR SKIRTS!! and I understand their intent but old grandma me is like ‘aaah… it’s not that simple my youths…’ but I don’t feel like saying anything

I’d like to take a moment to insert my personal stance which is that I appreciate the gender expression thru clothing for naru and Hajime that exists in the game. personally - I like that it is very in the middle of fem and masc. I think it’s cool that Hajime’s outfits LOOK almost like dresses, but they’re not. I kind of wish people appreciated that more, instead of focusing on how it’s kind of a ‘cop out’ from making them wear real dresses. And I especially like that naru’s new casual still reads as feminine despite the colours bc of the poofy sleeves. It’s subtle. And I think lately the outfits and cards Do get directly more girly like twin wedding vows and the red polka dot cafe one. I think they realize that femstars is very popular maybe. Plus the way naru is drawn and posed lately… idk it feels like there’s been a greater Shift

I think something else to consider is that - Enstars tries to be realistic or grounded (well. Sometimes) in its stories and I think if Naru were to more directly wear skirts and dresses - and basically look more like a typical Girl - there would be social ramifications to explore and they’d have to write that very carefully. Anyway that’s all that’s on my mind about this

Hello! I’d love some headcanons about agere Wonka like what his little age is, what he likes to do/wear when he’s feeling little, etc! he’s such a cutie pie and I want to be his caregiver!

Sorry its so late!

His little age is typically between 0-5. Most of the time he's around 2/3, and just a super happy toddler! He loves doodling and singing and running around everywhere. Good luck trying to catch him on those long legs of his 👍However sometimes he regresses to just a few months. Bottle feeding and constantly being held. Very clingy and WILL cry if you try putting him to bed. He wants cuddles always because he's missed out on so many since losing his mama.

I think, because of the time period the film is set in, his clothes don't differ much from what he already wears. There's not much option for littles then; he's definitely a jammies boy. Running around in his jammies and fluffy socks, with a dishevelled bear he carries, holding it by the paw.

He WILL stick his fingers into his mouth. And your fingers. And everything. He loves his paci but sometimes he needs coaxing to take it and give people their hands back.

He's SO chatty. Babbles all the time, and most of the time you have no idea what he's saying. But he looks so damn HAPPY 🥹

Willy is autistic because I said so. When he's little it's even more obvious. He needs very very simple instructions or he gets confused and will cry. Hand flaps always, make sure to not be in the danger zone! Sensory issues with a lot of things. Safe foods.

A lot of the time when he's little, he just wants to nap. Life gets exhausting for the chocolatier; sometimes he wants to be padded with his paci and snuggled RIGHT on top of cg's chest!

He adores nose kisses. Will squeal and clap when he gets them.

Sometimes his regression is impure. Expect lots of panic attacks and meltdowns. His panic attacks are calmed by really strong hugs; he sits on cg's lap and clings to them as they rub his back and shush and coo to him.

I do other stuff too (drawing, sewing, been getting into mixed media a little bit) and on days when i do that stuff i dont feel the need to write, but like, so far i have written something, even if it's just editing one scene, every single day this year. so i guess being heavily motivated by Data and Numbers helps lmao. i'm on day 344 of my writing streak. there have been tons of days where ive been like eh i dont really feel like writing but i dont want to lose my streak. so i get a few words or a few hundred words down and keeping that progress going keeps me interested + adds up word count over time + self-perpetuates. and of course sometimes i sit down and write 10k words in a day if im super feral for an idea (see: basically half my fic ideas this year). so yeah. mix of making the time, needing the outlet, and having ideas im excited about. hope that makes sense I'm still half asleep 👍

Nite:Life 04 by Terry Farley 2001 House / Deep House / Tribal House

Well, this probably isn't the greatest commercial mix that legendary house producer-remixer-and-DJ-extraordinaire Terry Farley ever made, but it's still a decent one. Farley was an integral cog in developing Britain's acid house scene into a total fervor during the mid-to-late 80s. He co-launched a fanzine called Boy's Own with the late, great Andrew Weatherall and others, co-hosted and DJ'd at events by that same name, and also co-founded the Boy's Own record label too. And then in 1992, he co-founded the Junior Boy's Own label as well, which ended up with both Underworld and the Chemical Brothers on its roster. And then when you think about how important *those* groups are in particular to the growth and popularity of electronic music writ large, and know that they wouldn't have sprouted up if not for acid house catching fire in the UK in the first place, you realize just how indispensable someone like Terry Farley is when it comes to literally all of this.

But ultimately, I think the thing that mars this mix more than anything else is that Terry really seemed to be partial at the time to these super deep and moody tunes that featured hushed-tone spoken-word monologues from rugged-voiced dudes and I just think a lot of that stuff, especially in retrospect, is pretty damn corny. All you have to do is press play on this mix to get an immediate taste of what I'm talking about here. And then that same voice returns on the "Tom Middleton Cosmos Vocal" mix of The Path's "Praying" too, with sets of lines like the following:

Now, had these super generic lyrics been sung in some sort of way, rather than just delivered in a deep monotone, we may have been able to just overlook their Derek Zoolanderish simplicity and keyed in on the melody instead. But we can't, and as a result, this song and others like it just feel very lame almost a quarter-century later 😒.

But despite all of that, Farley still brought some pretty sweet bangers to this set. "Musica De La Celva," by Hipp-E & Tony (Hipp-E is from the duo of H-Foundation, who mixed the prior installment in this Nite:Life series that I posted about yesterday), has this beeping stab in it that you may not realize is actually a sax at first, until that little note proceeds to expand further into phrases, and then has another bit of sax introduced afterwards to complement it all too. Quite nifty track construction there 👍.

And then for the closer, we get some of that good ol' 90s garage house-disco flavor from longtime diva Linda Clifford, with the Ralphi Rosario mix of her "Changin," which I'm sure particularly lit up a whole bunch of gay dancefloors when it was out and thriving all the way back in 2000. Feels like a really lovely, blissful dance anthem, but it's very different from the much darker mood that coats the entirety of the rest of this mix 🤷‍♂️.

So, given his legacy, I think I was expecting a bit more from Terry Farley here, but even the best don't always end up delivering all the goods that you necessarily seek (see: Paul Oakenfold). Still, though, this thing is definitely solid regardless.

ichiro - pretty strong, but most of his muscle is covered up by chub. you can only really see the muscle in his arms. has broad shoulders. tanned and has some light freckles on his shoulders. also i hc him and the rest of the yamadas as half puerto rican👍 has some stretch marks on his arms but they arent super noticeable. has a few scars from when he worked for stairway to heaven. he was considerably scrawnier at that time, but has gained quite a bit of weight & muscle since then. used to have his ears pierced but the holes have closed up now. has a kind of big crooked nose. hes got a little bit of stubble, leg hair, arm hair, a happy trail nd a little bit of chest hair. tbh now that im describing it hes built pretty similarly to rei... hes not a big fan of how much he looks like him.

jiro - the only skinny yamada family member. verryyy lean, a lot stronger than he looks. tanner than ichiro and has more freckles than him. also has a little bit of acne. doesnt have a lot of body hair cause. hes 17 duh. he just has a little happy trail nd some leg hair. tiny boobs, like u almost dont notice them. so he thankfully doesnt have to bind... god knows hed never remember to take his binder off if he did. also the only yamada family member with a flat ass. dude is built like a rectangle. kuko pierced his nose for him (despite ichiros protests). he pierced his eyebrow aswell but that got infected... had to take it out. has a small scar there now.

saburo - shes pretty chubby, kind of pear shaped. carries most of her weight in her thighs and stomach. also has stretch marks on her thighs, love handles, and stomach. has a rounder face with a slight double chin. they dont go outside nearly as often as their brothers, so theyre noticeably paler. also has vitiligo. she has some INSANE eyebags... stays up too late playing video games or arguing with ppl on reddit & 4chan. not a lot of body hair, just a little bit of leg & arm hair nd a small happy trail. they bleached the underside of their hair themself... did a shitty job so its a little fried but its fine. usually has her nails painted black but chews on her nails whenever the polish chips off. their ears are pierced but they never wear anything other than simple black studs. shes completely fine with her body, she might go on estrogen when shes older but like. thats it.

kuko - pretty strong but not like. SUPER bulky yaknow? like even though hes stronger than ichiro his muscles r much smaller than his. no matter how hard he tries dude just CANNOT bulk up. cursed to be a little chihuahua forever. has like. average size boobs. he doesnt like binding at all and he doesnt mind them, hes pretty much fine with them. i hc him as lightskin blasian + hes outside a lot so on top of that hed also tan a bit. has some freckles across his nose & cheeks and on his shoulders. has some scars from his time with stairway to heaven and just from. kuko being kuko nd getting into fights. in addition to his canon piercings, he also has snakebites, medusa piercing, cheek piercings, bridge piercing, tongue piercing, nipple piercings, andddd a navel piercing. yes he did them all (except for the tongue... knew hed fuck that one up REALL bad if he did it) himself yes he is insane yes they all somehow didnt get infected. dont ask too many questions! paints his nails black and they always end up chipping super fast. has sharp canines.

jyushi - superrrr skinny. almost to the point that its concerning... theyre sickly pale, you can faintly see their veins in their hands. they have freckles but they usually cover them up with makeup so u cant see them. always covers their eyebags with makeup as well. they also have a FUCKTON of self harm scars on their arms and thighs... someone get them a better coping mechanism pls theyre running out of room. having body hair makes them dysphoric so they shave regularly, and since theyve been on estrogen (thanks for helping them get on that hitoya !) they dont need to shave as often now. shaves the tails of their eyebrows too. has anophthalmia, so they have no right eye. theyve been ruthlessly bullied for it, so they always hide it. hitoya and kuko r basically the only people who know theyre partially blind. has a lot of piercings but, unlike kuko, actually got them professionally done‼️ has angel bites, spider bites, left eyebrow piercing, right nostril piercing, anddd a navel piercing. always has their nails done, usually painted either black or dark red. them and kuko paint eachothers nails from time to time. has a long, hooked nose. hands r long 2. theyre like those goofy looking long ass dogs.

hitoya - hes got a dad bod. very soft belly, thats where most of his weight is distributed. has kind of high cheekbones but its not obvious cause of the chub. he used to have big boobs but he got top surgery awhile ago so. rip hitoyas fat tits jakurai will miss u guys🪦🕊️ has stretch marks on his stomach and chest. hes darker skinned and i also feel like hed tan very easily. has a couple of beauty marks and freckles on his body. used to have a couple of ear piercings, but the holes r closed up now. occasionally lets jyushi and kuko paint his nails.. even let jyushi do his makeup once for funziez #bestdadevr . hes a pretty hairy dude, like even before transitioning he never shaved... dude was just ALWAYS meant 2 b a bear ig. hands r calloused.

samatoki - his muscles arent super big or anything, but DAMN is he strong. he pretty much always has been, on top of his yakuza work i feel like hed also lift weights nd shit. hes blasian but VERY lightskinned. like. you almost cannot tell. has light freckles on his shoulders, chest, and across his nose & cheeks. also has quite a few scars cause. yakuza. duh. its honestly surprising he doesnt have ANY canonically. had smaller boobs before he got top surgery, i feel like he wouldve gotten it sometime between tdd breakup and mtc forming. dude got his nipples pierced as SOON as he recovered hed been waiting to get those pierced for so long. also has snakebites and a bridge piercing. sometimes paints his nails... used to let nemu paint them when she was around.

jyuto - weak ass twink!!! has veryyyy little muscle. so hes skinny but hes got a little tummy and his thighs touch when he sits. slight pear shape?? yeah. only has a few stretch marks on his inner thighs. dude is like incapable of growing body or facial hair. has a SLIGHT happy trail nd thats about it. hes half french. oui oui baguette bitch. pretty pale and has more of an olive undertone. has a thin, kind of hooked nose. has little red marks on the sides of his nose where his glasses sit... blind bitch!!! has quite a few beauty marks on his face & body.

rio - dude is HUGE. extremely muscular with veryyy broad shoulders, inverted triangle shape basically. surprisingly not that hairy. hes blasian (half african american specifically) and hes def tanned quite a bit and has a lot of freckles since hes outside all the time. has tons of scars from being in the military. prob has some burn scars on his hands too from cooking, hands are also very calloused. hes got a few stretch marks on his arms and pecs. has bushy eyebrows

sasara - hes been chubby for most of his life, but while he was with samatoki he lost an unhealthy amount of weight. started smoking and didnt eat as much. he was struggling overall man rosho dumping him really fucked him up😭 but its ok after he left mcd & got over rosho (no he didnt.) he gained all the weight back and then some. stopped smoking too. his weights pretty evenly distributed with a little more of it going to his belly. his face is pretty round, he also has a double chin. has stretch marks on his love handles, stomach and arms. hes half columbian and tans VERY easily. has quite a few freckles, and a couple beauty marks. also has some scars from his time with samatoki... he hates taking abt them. has a small snub nose, and has smaller hands.

rosho - average weight with slight muscle in her arms and small boobs #transgender. very sharp facial features, much like samatoki. has thicker eyebrows & higher cheekbones, unlike samatoki. she also has dimples in both cheeks. used to have an eyebrow piercing, lip ring, and a couple ear piercings, but took em out #teachermoment. only kept her earlobe piercings. shes darkskin blasian👍👍 has a couple beauty marks on her body. didnt realize she needed glasses until sasara made her try them on... just thought it was normal for everything to be blurry. well surprise surprise rosho you actually need to wear glasses all the time!!! nearsighted loser. she likes her glasses a lot though, has some fun glasses chains that she switches out from time to time. she def has eyebags... grading papers takes a stupidly long amount of time. cannot get a good nights sleep. realized she was trans a bit after she broke up with sasara, shed been questioning it for a very long time beforehand but never rlly did anything abt it cause. strict parents. she doesnt need to worry about them anymore though sooo shes basically fully transitioned now. she still gets dysphoric abt her height sometimes, but sasara makes her feel a little better about it. tells her he actually prefers tall women and that never fails to cheer her up.

doppo - easily the heaviest member of the main hypmic cast, hes a pretty big dude. hes been chubby for his whole life, which he got bullied for quite a bit. this completely destroyed his self esteem, and he ended up developing some... less than healthy coping mechanisms!! yeah, lets just say that... struggles with self harm and binge eating. both of which got A LOT worse when he went to college. living on his own for the first time was extremely stressful, there was a shitton of homework to keep track of, nd he had to try to navigate a decent social life without hifumi... overall was a very bad time for him. ended up gaining a lot of weight through a combo of binging often due to stress anddd generally not having the time or energy to care that much about what he ate. HES FINE NOW THO!!! hifumis helped him get back to normal eating habits thankfully... doesnt rlly binge anymore he just like. sometimes stress eats if work is particularly bad that day. but hes nowhere NEAR as bad as he used to be. its just very, VERY hard for him to lose weight cause of all the medications (almost all mental illness related) hes on. hes more concerned with just eating healthier anyways, doesnt rlly care if he loses weight. [STATEMENT BEGINS]

our boy josh went to amsterdam for a few weeks with his friends after graduating (they were all in their early 20s)

he was drunk/high most of the time and acted silly even more of the time

and perhaps this is why he decided to go Out (that morning). date ? unknown. middle of may 👍👍👍

all his friends were eeping mimimi so he went out and looked around at the buildings (architecture major)

but after a few hours he got a bit lost due to he didnt have a map/navigation

however it was mid afternoon and he was kinda lost on purpose. but still he decided to find his way back. he cant speak dutch though so he spent a while going the wrong way

by the time he got back the sky was darkening a bit and he was Stressed. so he went to a cafe before going with his friends.

he was there for a while (who knows) but it was Dark Outside when he realized there was a guy at his table. who looked so ordinary joshy boy couldnt describe him. he "had an odd density to him" with short brown(?) hair (maybe the difficulty was due to drugs)

the guys name is john and he said something about "also being an englishman inside a foreign land" (which joshua remembers because its strange)

john is "from liverpool" (accentless 🤨🤨🤨) and look for a friend who he could rely on for a favor

although josh was high. this is rather suspicious behavior. nuh uh !!

but no, josh. its just looking after a package until friends can pick it up !! + he reaches into his jacket(?) and pulls out an envelope. with 10k moneys in it. (he counted)

bad idea and yet he says yes. and then john says hell be in touch and just leaves.

josh has a bit of a panic but BUT something weighs him down and stops him from chasing after john

he DID NOT spend any of his moneys. and wants to return it. but alas. it looms over him. and john does not show up for the rest of the trip.

he flies back to england and everything goes smoothly

AND THEN A YEAR LATER !! he spends some of the moneys in bournemouth (south coast of england) to move there for his Job (architects firm) (entry level job with meh pay)

rent is a tad high and he doesnt want strangers so he uses his moneys. because john hadnt any of his details. and if it was drugs like he thought 10k would be nothing to them. also he grew a beard so recognizing him would be harder

so he rents a place near the center of the town and moves in right away

a few weeks later he was making breakfast and then suddenly. doorbell. two red faced delivery men with a Large (immense) package

they asked if he was joshua gillespie (he was) and they had a delivery addressed to him and then they just went in. they werent wearing uniforms and they seemed to not be from any delivery company.

he wanted to ask questions but they placed the box and left. and they were both super tall (6'0+ tall) and "very imposing" so its not like he couldve stopped them if he wanted to

the door Slammed and he was alone with the package (2m long, 1m wide, 1m deep) sealed with packing tape + his address was on it (no return address or anything though)

he was gonna be late for work but he couldnt leave without seeing what was in the box so he went and got a knife to cut through the tape

in the box was a coffin !!! quite unexpected. he stared at the coffin in Mute Surprise.

the coffin was made of unvarnished pale yellow wood and had a thick metal chain wrapped around it. it was locked with an iron padlock (closed) (key was in the hole)

he was reaching for the key BUT !! he noticed 2 things.

1. a piece of paper

2. "DO NOT OPEN" scratched into the wood (letters 3 inches tall)

he stopped reaching for the padlock and started sitting on the floor, being quite confused.

he unfolded the piece of paper. it said:

"delivered with gratitude.

and now he connected the coffin with john from amsterdam. and all these questions come to his head (is this the package) (is he looking after a corpse) (whos gonna pick it up) (when)

he called in sick and sat and stared at the coffin with no idea what to do.

then he started sniffing it. and smelled nothing. but it didnt stink (so there was either no body or it was a fresh body) (because it was early summer)

as he got up his hand brushed the coffin and it was Warm. like it was in the sun for a While. it made his flesh crawl slightly and he stopped touching it.

he went to make tea and was relieved standing next to the kettle because he couldnt see the coffin from there. and when he was done making his tea he just kept standing there. sipping his too hot tea.

when we went back into the hall (where the coffin was) it was still there and unmoving. he took the key out of the lock and put it on the table and then he grabbed the coffin by the chains and pulled it to the living room and pushed it against the wall

he then recycled the cardboard box like normal. and then he just Had a coffin.

at first he assumed it was drugs in the coffin. but also why would you store something in a coffin and then leave it with a stranger. he decided not to think about it and avoid the living room.

he stayed on the lookout for Rot smells but there was no smell.

eventually he got used to it and started using the living room again (after about a week)

at some point he even used the coffin as a table and placed his orange juice on the lid. and he didnt even realize it until he heard moving. and then there was (slow) (deliberate) scratching at the lid (under his drink) (moving the surface)

this was quite confusing to joshy woshy (the coffin had been there long enough that anything living in it shouldve died) (if there was something in it that could move why didnt it before ???)

he picked up his glass and the scratching stopped. hrmmm. he places it on the other end of the lid and a few (4) seconds later the scratching starts up again (insistently)

he took the glass away again and the scratching didnt stop for another 5 minutes (golly)

he decided to not do it again and used his powers of Ignoring.

he chose to not open it or see inside and instead to not do that. he will not look inside.

coward? maybe. but he lives soooo

he felt better about his decision a few days later. it was Raining and a saturday. he had no friends because he had a coffin in his living room (not good for a social life)

he was instead in his room reading.

the rain outside was Heavy and Big. and the coffin was singing (moaning melodiously) (dats cwazy)

he went out and stared at the coffin for a while and then went back into his room, put some headphones on, and played music to drown it out.

and it was like this for a few months (coffin scratches at stuff atop it + siiings in the raaaain)

he considered handing it off to someone else or going to the magnus institute to investigate but. instead he decided that he was scareder of john (not to be confused with jon, the archivist) (not the same guy) (just btw) than of the coffin. so he kept quiet.

joshua believes the coffin may have given him bad dreams (he doesnt remember his dreams but he kept waking up in a panic) (clutching at his throat) (unable to breathe)

he also started sleepwalking. the first time this happened, he was woken up by the cold (middle of winter) (he keeps his heat off at night)

he was standing in the living room over the coffin when he awoke with the key in his hand (golly !!) this worried him so he went to the doctor + got a referral to the sleep clinic at the hopital but he didnt have the problems at the hopital

he started hiding the key in harder to reach spots but he kept waking up with the key in his hand. one day he woke up and had the key literally in the lock and almost opened it.

so what does he do? he puts the key in a bowl of water and freezes it. sometimes he still woke up to himself trying to get the key, but he always woke up before anything happened due to it was cold

for like 18 months hes just kinda used to this. when suddenly it rains and then the coffin doesnt start singing (:0)

he went to go check on it and yeah. it was not Singing. and then theres a knock at the door (light) (unobtrusive) (rang out like thunder in the quiet flat)

john + the delivery men stood there. and they were surprised to see joshua although he wasnt surprised to see them. he asked if they were there for the coffin (they were)

john says he hoped it hadnt been too much trouble. josh "tells him where to stick it".

john is Impressed when josh goes to the freezer and gets the key. he was so excited to get rid of it that he just drops the ice on the floor and told them the coffin was in the living room. he does not want to see what they do with it or if they open it. and when someone starts screaming. he does not want to know who it is or why. he leaves when the delivery men carry the coffin away.

he follows them downstairs and watches them lock it away into the van (labelled "breekon and hope deliveries") (then they drove away) (there was no sign of john)

and that was the last he ever heard of it. he moved to london with a new job after. and now he just tries not to think about it.

"its always nice to hear that my home town is not entirely devoid of odd occurrences and eerie stories. ice cream, beaches, and boredom are all very well, but im glad to hear bournemouth has at least a few apparitions to call its own." he has drugs + no witnesses as a theme so clearly this statement isnt true. also the institute didnt find any supporting evidence whatsoever + jon thinks its a waste of time now (almost 20 years later)

he did mention it to tim though, who did some digging anyways. breekon and hope existed + were a courier service until 09 when they went into liquidation. but they were based in nottingham (very north of bournemouth) (no records of deliveries available)

the owners of the building that the apartment joshua gillespie listed as the site of events keep extensive records that go back 40ish years. and from what tim could find, for the 2 years that joshua lived there, he was the only person who was there and the other 7 apartments were empty. nobody moved in after he left and the building was sold + demolished soon after the statement was given.

nobody who worked for the housing association in the 90s is still there. and although he tried, tim could not get an explanation for Why joshua gillespie lived entirely alone in that quite large building.

i love this whole story so much and how it just is a complete mystery. i hope it's somehow revisited or something. or more information is ever gathered. or something. because something about this story is fucking delicious to me and i'd love to know of more in the same vein or maybe even theories upon this one if no other information was ever given about it in canon tma. OUGHHHH!!!!!!

how did josh just Live Like This btw. i would've lost my mind. how did he just Ignore it all when THAT'S what is happening in your small space of a flat....... hats off to him i guess. he's a stronger man than me
