hi! Keen to get your view on the reason for thinking that Zayn’s leaving stopped LHs coming out. I saw this theory floating around in the past but always thought that would not be the case as at that time it was already clear that Harry was set to venture out as the solo artist eventually. Also see one of zayns recents interviews where he confirms that.

So… look. I wrote this massive thing about this, but looking along Xarry and bbg timelines and everything, I came across the wonderful @caralara’s post here which sums this up essentially just how I believe it happened too. And it’s very articulate and there are so many resources I figured it would make sense to share it as opposed to recreating almost the same post (but more messy hehe). It makes a lot of sense in terms of music industry dynamics, gives a lot of clarity and context to the stunts and timelines around the point that zayn left, and… I honestly think more people should see it to better understand bbg.

Regarding Zayn’s interview comments over the last 9 years… well… it’s been a wild ride. They started out with “I loved being in the band but I didn’t like the music we did” to “I made no friends in that time and I never spoke to Harry” to “the schedule was too tough” to “I don’t want to go into too much detail, but there was a lot of politics going on. People were doing certain things. Some people didn’t want to sign contracts,” which, well, speaks for itself. He also mentioned he wanted to be “the first person to make their own record” so it’s all a bit muddy and jumps back and forth. Also, didn’t he say that about the hiatus “Louis and Harry are the ones that know why, you have to ask them” or am I imagining that????? I swear I saw a gif of that somewhere so if anyone can help that’d be good. But also, if it was fake, then that’s fine too.

The thing is with commentary after a band splits and the member(s) goes solo, is that they are still media trained professionals. Zayn could absolutely hate those boys and rip them, and S*mon, to shreds, but he didn’t. Because there would be repercussions. There are alwaysssss repercussions. So, even though he can point to certain things vaguely, he wouldn’t out anyone or throw them under the bus, particularly the boys, if he wants to keep his career. But yeah, Harry was encouraged to go solo, and there’s that interview ot4 do on the day of their last show before the hiatus where Harry and Louis look like they’ve been arguing and Louis was very upset about the split. It would’ve caused a rift between all of them.

Not to mention that their deal would have had a clause to say “if you all get through the whole contract, you’ll all get significantly more $$ and percentages of your music, but if one of you leaves you’ll get way less than that”, and it was only one more year. One more album, one more tour. But zayn bounced for the sake of his own health, which I’m not blaming him for at all. And Harry and Louis were undoubtedly mad about that because… well… even if they signed as a group with the label and same management again, there would’ve been some pretty hefty negotiations, including coming out. But zayn left, and it encouraged the rest of them to take a break. They needed it. They deserved it.

But listen… I mean, even if you dont wanna believe the theory I linked above, it was quite obvious that harry was becoming more free and Xander and Jeff were a big part of that. Zayn left the band via a Facebook post, which was HUGE. a massive scandal. And there’s only so many scandals a PR and management team will allow before it hits the band too negatively. Anyway, that theory makes a lot of sense to me.

Anyway, if you want more clarification on what I believe or have any questions regarding that theory or why it makes sense from someone who works in the industry, or anything, don’t hesitate to ask. And sorry for taking so long to reply to you angel. Thank you for your patience!!

Andrew Cushin has shared a music video for his single ‘It’s Coming Round Again’ — filmed during his tour with Louis Tomlinson. Check it out below.

The track was the latest single to be taken from his hotly anticipated debut album, ‘Waiting For The Rain’, which is set to arrive on September 29. Now, the upcoming Newcastle singer-songwriter has shared the visual accompaniment for the song, which he filmed while on tour with former One Direction member Louis Tomlinson.

Taking place backstage at one of the venues that he played at while supporting Tomlinson, the video shows the 23-year-old with his acoustic guitar — performing the tranquil ballad both backstage and in front of a sold-out crowd.

The single is the fourth to be taken from the upcoming album, released hot on the heels of ‘4.5%’, ‘You’ll Be Free’ and ‘Dream For A Moment’. Check out the new music video below.

Currently, emerging Newcastle singer is still embarking on his ongoing shows with Tomlinson, and playing various arena dates across the USA. Upcoming shows include slots in New York, Las Vegas and Los Angeles.

He will then head back to the UK, and is set to play his own headline show in New York at the Mercury Lounge on 31st July.

“This is insane – I’m taking songs I wrote in my bedroom and playing them to thousands of American fans,” he said, reflecting on the tour. “I’m in total disbelief. I’ll be forever grateful to Louis and his team for this opportunity.”

“I’m just trying to do the best I can, people are really into the tunes. I just can’t wait for the next show,” he added. “This is also the first time I’ve ever been to America! I’m trying my best to take it all in and meet as many people as I can.”

Cushin’s upcoming album was produced by Dave Eringa (Manic Street Preachers) and recorded at Rockfield Studios in Monmouth and The Libertines Albion Rooms studios in Margate.

Due to high demand, Cushin has also added an additional show in his hometown at Newcastle’s City Hall (December 16), set to take place as part of his previously announced Waiting For The Rain Tour. Find a full list of his headline dates below and visit here for tickets.

Last year, Louis Tomlinson spoke about his determination to support upcoming new talent, particularly by bringing emerging artists onto his tours.

He discussed the subject during his own Away From Home festival last year, in which he told NME that one of the main reasons why he began the festival was because he had been wanting to provide a platform that would “showcase upcoming bands”.

“I’ve always been really interested in the development stage of bands’ careers,” he said. “I think they’re some of the most exciting times. So any way where I can help anything like that, that’s always been really important to me.”

He also discussed the increasingly difficult circumstances that new artists are faced with in the current day, as well as how he tries to offer advice to new artists who reach out to him online.

THE MARRIAGE LICENSE ERROR

January 21, 1949

“Marriage License Error” (aka “Marriage License”) is episode #27 of the radio series MY FAVORITE HUSBAND broadcast on January 21, 1949 over the Armed Forces Radio Network (AFN).

Synopsis ~ Liz and George find their marriage license and discover that instead of "George H. Cooper," it says "George C. Hooper." Now Liz is convinced that she and George aren't legally married!

Portions of this radio show served as the basis for “The Marriage License” (ILL S1;E26) filmed on February 28, 1952 and aired on April 7, 1952, on CBS-TV. On television, the Ricardo’s marriage license mistakenly read “Bicardi” instead of “Ricardo”.

“My Favorite Husband” was based on the novels Mr. and Mrs. Cugat, the Record of a Happy Marriage (1940) and Outside Eden (1945) by Isabel Scott Rorick, which had previously been adapted into the film Are Husbands Necessary? (1942). “My Favorite Husband” was first broadcast as a one-time special on July 5, 1948. Lucille Ball and Lee Bowman played the characters of Liz and George Cugat, and a positive response to this broadcast convinced CBS to launch “My Favorite Husband” as a series. Bowman was not available Richard Denning was cast as George. On January 7, 1949, confusion with bandleader Xavier Cugat prompted a name change to Cooper. On this same episode Jell-O became its sponsor. A total of 124 episodes of the program aired from July 23, 1948 through March 31, 1951. After about ten episodes had been written, writers Fox and Davenport departed and three new writers took over – Bob Carroll, Jr., Madelyn Pugh, and head writer/producer Jess Oppenheimer. In March 1949 Gale Gordon took over the existing role of George’s boss, Rudolph Atterbury, and Bea Benadaret was added as his wife, Iris. CBS brought “My Favorite Husband” to television in 1953, starring Joan Caulfield and Barry Nelson as Liz and George Cooper. The television version ran two-and-a-half seasons, from September 1953 through December 1955, running concurrently with “I Love Lucy.” It was produced live at CBS Television City for most of its run, until switching to film for a truncated third season filmed (ironically) at Desilu and recasting Liz Cooper with Vanessa Brown.

REGULAR CAST

Lucille Ball (Liz Cooper) was born on August 6, 1911 in Jamestown, New York. She began her screen career in 1933 and was known in Hollywood as ‘Queen of the B’s’ due to her many appearances in ‘B’ movies. With Richard Denning, she starred in a radio program titled “My Favorite Husband” which eventually led to the creation of “I Love Lucy,” a television situation comedy in which she co-starred with her real-life husband, Latin bandleader Desi Arnaz. The program was phenomenally successful, allowing the couple to purchase what was once RKO Studios, re-naming it Desilu. When the show ended in 1960 (in an hour-long format known as “The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour”) so did Lucy and Desi’s marriage. In 1962, hoping to keep Desilu financially solvent, Lucy returned to the sitcom format with “The Lucy Show,” which lasted six seasons. She followed that with a similar sitcom “Here’s Lucy” co-starring with her real-life children, Lucie and Desi Jr., as well as Gale Gordon, who had joined the cast of “The Lucy Show” during season two. Before her death in 1989, Lucy made one more attempt at a sitcom with “Life With Lucy,” also with Gordon.

Richard Denning (George Cooper) was born as Louis Albert Heindrich Denninger Jr., in Poughkeepsie, New York. When he was 18 months old, his family moved to Los Angeles. Plans called for him to take over his father’s garment manufacturing business, but he developed an interest in acting. Denning enlisted in the US Navy during World War II. He is best known for his roles in various science fiction and horror films of the 1950s. Although he teamed with Lucille Ball on radio in “My Favorite Husband,” the two never acted together on screen. While “I Love Lucy” was on the air, he was seen on another CBS TV series, “Mr. & Mrs. North.” From 1968 to 1980 he played the Governor on “Hawaii 5-0″, his final role. He died in 1998 at age 84.

Ruth Perrott (Katie, the Maid) was also later seen on “I Love Lucy.” She first played Mrs. Pomerantz (above right), a member of the surprise investigating committee for the Society Matrons League in “Pioneer Women” (ILL S1;E25), as one of the member of the Wednesday Afternoon Fine Arts League in “Lucy and Ethel Buy the Same Dress” (ILL S3;E3), and also played a nurse when “Lucy Goes to the Hospital” (ILL S2;E16). She died in 1996 at the age of 96.

Announcer Bob LeMond is not heard in this episode as it is part of the American Forces Network and has a different announcer.

Gale Gordon (Rudolph Atterbury) and Bea Benadaret (Iris Atterbury) had not yet joined the cast as regular characters.

GUEST CAST

Frank Nelson (Joe Ridgley) was born on May 6, 1911 (three months before Lucille Ball) in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He started working as a radio announcer at the age of 15. He later appeared on such popular radio shows as “The Great Gildersleeve,” “Burns and Allen,” and “Fibber McGee & Molly”. This is one of his 11 performances on “My Favorite Husband.” On “I Love Lucy” he holds the distinction of being the only actor to play two recurring roles: Freddie Fillmore and Ralph Ramsey, as well as six one-off characters, including the frazzled train conductor in “The Great Train Robbery” (ILL S5;E5), a character he repeated on “The Lucy Show.” Aside from Lucille Ball, Nelson is perhaps most associated with Jack Benny and was a fifteen-year regular on his radio and television programs.

Doris Singleton (Hotel Biltmore Telephone Operator) created the role of Caroline Appleby on “I Love Lucy,” although she was known as Lillian Appleby in the first of her ten appearances. She made two appearances on “The Lucy Show.” Singleton played a secretary in the first episode of “Here’s Lucy” and was meant to be a series regular, but her role was written out to concentrate on Lucy Carter’s family life. She did two more episodes of the series.

Ted de Corsia (Police Officer) was an actor in touring companies and on radio before making a memorable film debut as the killer in The Lady from Shanghai (1947). De Corsia's New York street demeanor and gravelly voice assured him steady work playing street thugs, gang leaders or organized-crime bosses. On radio he starred in the CBS series "Pursuit" (1949-50). Two years after this episode of “My Favorite Husband,” he appeared with Lucille Ball on the radio show “The Golden Touch.”

The actor voicing the role of Paul Buchanan is not credited and has not been identified.

EPISODE

The Coopers are spending the evening in the living room reading the newspapers. Liz is doing the crossword puzzle, while George scans the headlines.

GEORGE: “Well, it looks like the inauguration came off alright.”

George is referring to the second inauguration of incumbent President Harry S. Truman, which happened in Washington DC the previous day. It ushered in Truman’s second term in office. It was the first televised U.S. presidential inauguration and the first with an air parade.

Liz insists that crosswords build her vocabulary. George quizzes her on current events.

GEORGE: “Where did the President take his oath of office?” LIZ: “On a special platform built in front of the capitol building. GEORGE: “How did you happen to know that?” LIZ: “It showed through the hole when I cut out the crossword puzzle.” GEORGE: “Try this: who administered the oath?” LIZ: “What?”

The familiar trope of husbands being engrossed in the morning papers to the dismay of their wives takes a slightly different spin here, but was continued well into “I Love Lucy.” The answer that George is looking for is that Chief Justice Fred M. Vinson administered the presidential oath of office that day in 1949.

Through the hole, Liz recognizes the name of Paul Buchanan, who is in the paper because he was elected president at the jewelers convention. Liz recalls dating him in high school. He played tuba in the school band. Liz says she might have married but for his tuba playing. Liz says that if she had married Paul she might have gotten an engagement ring. Instead, George couldn’t afford a ring and gave her a sweat shirt with his initials on it. George says the initials actually stood for Gym Class!

LIZ: “I was lovely! I was engaged! I was dressed like Maxie Rosenbloom!”

Max Everitt Rosenbloom (1907-76) was a professional boxer, actor, and television personality. In 1948 he played a truck driver in the Paulette Goddard film Hazard. Nicknamed “Slapsie Maxie”, he had appeared in the film Muss ‘Em Up (1936) in which a blonde Lucille Ball was a background performer. She posed with him for the above publicity shot, helping him apply his make-up!

Liz senses that George is still upset about the ring, so she sits on his lap and they cuddle and kiss. Liz opens their scrapbook, looking at their wedding photos. She sees her marriage license.

LIZ: “On this date, Elizabeth Elliott was married to George C. Hooper!”

Liz panics thinking that their license may be invalid - and they might not even be legally married! As soon as the Sheridan Falls City Hall opens, Liz intends to go down there personally and find out for sure!

Unbeknownst to Liz, George calls his friend at the license bureau, Joe Ridgley (Frank Nelson). He tells Joe that he wants him to play a joke on Liz, and tell her that they are not really married! Joe agrees.

Liz arrives at the bureau and explains to Mr. Ridgley about the error. He tells Liz that it does indeed matter. He refers to her as “Miss Elliott” and confirms that she hasn’t been married to George for ten years!

Liz returns home. When George goes to kiss her - she says that she is no longer his to touch!

LIZ: “The man at the license bureau put the padlock on our wedlock.”

Liz insists they go right down to the license bureau and get re-married. George - having some fun at her expense - hesitates. Liz is as upset as she is angry! Just then, Katie the Maid takes Liz aside into the kitchen to tell her that it’s all a joke between George and Joe. Liz decides to get revenge for his prank.

Liz goes back into the living room and George suddenly confesses to his joke - but when he describes Joe Ridgley, Liz says that he is not describing the man she spoke to at all! Which means that they really aren’t married after all! George wants to go right down to City Hall and re-marry, but Liz (teasing him along even further) says not so fast - she wants to be single a little longer! Liz picks up the phone to call Paul Buchanan to ask him out on a date. She reminds him that she was called “Queen of the Rumble Seat”!

A rumble seat was an additional padded passenger seat that popped up from the rear of the vehicle, usually just big enough for two. This led it to becoming synonymous with romantic trysts!

Liz knows that George can’t hear Paul on the other end as he protests that he is married with six kids! He abruptly hangs up, but Liz continues her staged phone conversation with the hotel operator (Doris Singleton). Liz says that she will meet him at the Flamingo Room of the Biltmore.

In the kitchen, Liz tells Katie that while George thinks she is on a date with Paul Buchanan at the Biltmore, she and Katie will actually be watching Humphrey Bogart at the Strand movie theater.

In January 1949, Bogart’s most recent film would have been Key Largo, released in mid-summer 1948. It went on to win an Oscar for Claire Trevor. Humphrey Bogart never appeared on screen with Lucille Ball. However, in “Ricky’s Movie Offer” (ILL S4;E5) Desi Arnaz does an impression of Bogart and in “Lucy and the Andrews Sisters” (HL S2;E6) Lucy blows a kiss to a large poster of Bogart from the movie Casablanca.

Coming out of the Strand later that evening, Liz and Katie notice a crowd in front of the Biltmore Hotel. Katie thinks it might be a wreck!

LIZ: “When you see a crowd in front of a window these days, it isn’t a wreck, it’s television!” KATIE: “Oh, well maybe they’re showing a wrestling match!”

Before television sets became affordable to the general public, it was not uncommon to find people gathered on the sidewalk in front of a store window to view it from the street.

LIZ: “Katie it is wrestling! There’s gorgeous George!”

Liz is referring to her husband, George but wrestling matches were very popular on early television, producing such colorful wrestlers as Gorgeous George. George Raymond Wagner (1915–63), was known as Gorgeous George because of his long blonde hair. He was mentioned on “I Love Lucy” in “Pioneer Women” (ILL S1;E25) and “Ricky’s Movie Offer” (ILL S4;E6). In 1949, Republic Pictures released a film starring Gorgeous George.

A Policeman (Ted de Corsia) is breaking up a brawl between George Cooper and Paul Buchanan. Paul is nothing like Liz remembered: bald, fat and with a black eye. Paul remembers George from school. Liz is delighted having two men fighting over her. George spots Liz in the crowd. When George insists Liz is his wife, Liz claims she never saw him before. When the cop wants to arrest George, Liz pretends to be from Brooklyn (Myrtle Avenue) to talk him out of it. She insists that George buy her an engagement ring (from Paul) to get out of going to jail. The office gladly agrees - if George will properly propose on one knee first! Liz insists he use her ‘pet’ name.

GEORGE: “Will you marry me... toodly-woodly-ums!” COP: “When you gonna get married?” LIZ: “Ten years ago!” COP: “Why that’s impossible!” LIZ: “Who cares! I’ve got back my favorite husband!”

In the bedtime tag, Liz asks George to get up and get her a glass of warm milk. After bickering about it for a moment, George reluctantly agrees, stubbing his toe on the chair. By the time he finds his slippers, Liz is snoring, fast asleep.

GEORGE: “How do you like that? Goodnight, Liz.”

Speaking of waiting, since embarking on solo career, you've only made appearances on television shows to promote singles, but no show or tour. Do you miss the stages? Are you ready to go back?

Yeah, I'm definitely ready to hit the road and I miss her. I spent a lot of time touring with One Direction ... But of course, you can not do that without an album, so I knew that if you wanted to spend more time molding this record, you would have to wait to go on tour. But it was a conscious choice. And it will not last until the end of the year.

And your son will be close to turning four by the end of the year so I figure this is a good time to go on tour again.

Yeah. It is always difficult to leave him, but now he is already grown. Of course, when I go on tour, it's not going to be with those crazy schedules either, being a long time away from home.

How did the experience of parenting inspire you?

Musically, I would not say it was a big influence, maybe just in one of the songs I'm recording. And personally, I always treated the idea as natural. It was a great event, of course, but I am the oldest of seven brothers, so I always had to be very responsible.

You wrote many of the lyrics to One Direction, but I imagine it's different to write for the group and for your solo career. What kind of approaches do you have today that you did not have before?

The lyrics in One Direction were a bit more generic, let's put it this way, because they had to match the feelings of four or five of us, so now I have the opportunity to talk more with my heart. In terms of production, I'm probably looking for the simplest possible. In the group, we had a lot of this pressure to make radio songs, but now I want to embrace my roots and keep myself organic, true.

One of the challenges of stardom is not being able to control the image that people create of you from news, gossip, and everything else, even when it comes to a reserved person. In a scenario where this public image could be effectively built, how did you want to be seen by everyone?

This is difficult. I think the natural stereotype of a musician or a celebrity is not always incredible. Sometimes, for various reasons, people expect me to be rude or bad, for example, when in fact I just wanted them to understand that I'm a really nice guy.

One Direction is one of the most popular bands in the world and you have always had to deal with harassment at airports, hotels, get away from paparazzi etc. Is it calmer now?

It's less intense, definitely, in every way. The calendar is calmer, my routine too, I have appeared less. So nowadays I get more time and space when I want to play or watch a football match, for example.

Although new, you've sold millions of albums, traveled through dozens of countries and lived quite a bit. What are your personal and artistic ambitions?

As an artist, I definitely think that in a solo career, I'm starting over. I'm very proud of my experience with One Direction, but now it's my name, so I want to conquer my things too as an individual. That makes me have ambitions to be achieved. As a person, I expect to get old, look back and feel satisfied. I think at some point in my life, when I'm a lot older, I want to go back to a more formal education, maybe a college or something that interests me academically.

In 20 years ...

I hope I'm still making music, I think it's everything (laughs) .

Brazil is one of the main markets of One Direction. One of their solo singles, "Back to you," had 17 million streaming footage coming from here, and I imagine you get a lot of messages from Brazilians on social networks ...

How is your relationship with the country and with your fans from here?

For starters, I'm completely in love with football. And historically Brazil has formed legends of this sport, so I have a great admiration. About the fans when we play there ... There are a few places that stick to your head when you rank the best, craziest, funniest fans in the world, and Brazil is definitely one of those places. I really feel the support of the Brazilian fan base and I can not wait to go back on tour to see them again.

Hi!!! I’m hoping you can help - do you know why Zayn left One Direction? He was partying with Louis on March 14 in Thailand and left the band on March the 25th. So what happened in those 9 days for him to leave? I just don’t get it!! TIA!!

It wasn’t anything in those 9 days that made him leave. In fact, I don’t think it was his idea to leave at all.

Please bare with me here and read the whole post (and preferably the other posts in my masterpost) before writing this theory off. I 100% believe that if anyone takes the time to look at the evidence, it will become obvious that something very fishy is going on. It’s just logic.

If you’re not coming into this post with the knowledge of 1D’s adversarial relationship with their team or with the knowledge that there are closeted gay couples within the 1D band (Louis and Harry, Liam and Zayn), then you might want to check that out first. There are good resources out there for all of it. I have some of it linked on my “ziam resources” and “larry resources” tags or on my Projects and Posts and Tags and Links pages.

It’s important to know what’s going on with these things and the history of 1D and their team because Zayn leaving being a stunt is a part of and a continuation of that.

It might also help to check out who Zayn really is since a false and negative characterization of him has taken hold because of his public persona since his leaving. I’ve got a few things linked on my summary masterpost. Another tag on my blog to check out would be “pairing masterpost” (look for any including Zayn). There’s also this post and this post and this post that show who Zayn is beyond the broody bad boy image he’s always been saddled with, extremely so in his solo career. Myself, I think the lyrics from his solo albums, particularly Mind of Mine but also the Icarus part of Icarus Falls, shows who he is better than anything. There’s no way to fake the gentleness and thoughtfulness inherent in the sentiments he chooses to express.

Even if you know Zayn well already, it’s always good to revisit these because it can be hard to fully avoid the effects of being bombarded by everyone telling you he’s a selfish, erratic, rash, and disloyal person. It’s good to be reminded of exactly how dorky, geeky, sweet, protective, thoughtful, intelligent, and caring he is.

Let’s Get Into It

The thing that made us start wondering about a stunt was the way Zayn left. It doesn’t particularly make sense for a lot of reasons.

1) He had been more engaged than usual at the start of the OTRA tour, talking to fans on social media and practicing to get better at giving speeches on stage. He was also just as affectionate with the other boys on stage as ever.

2) The reasons they gave for Zayn leaving were many and yet none of them ever made sense. The WAY he left is also baffling.

Originally the implication was that Zayn left because he was caught “cheating again” on Perrie. This is unlikely because 1) Zayn was never truly dating Perrie as it was a PR/bearding relationship (yes there is proof), and 2) Zayn and Perrie officially broke up that August anyway and if Zayn left for her, that would take away his reason for leaving and yet he didn’t return. The same sort of theory popped up with the idea of Naughty Boy luring him away, but again, 1) Naughty Boy had been very pro-1D the year before, and 2) Zayn and Naughty Boy had a “falling out” and yet Zayn didn’t return to 1D.

They said anxiety immediately after he left, but then he started a solo career that’s bound to be more anxiety-inducing if someone has stage fright. If the worst part of the job is dealing with people, then why would you get rid of the people who distracted most of the interviewer’s attention during interviews and the people who shared the stage with you?

They said he never liked being in the band, but if he likes the music/performing part (he ostensibly did because of going solo) and he likes the boys (there’s no real proof he doesn’t), that only leaves his management team to be causing the problem. One Direction was just about to end their active contract with Syco/Modest, so why leave the band and risk penalties and censure instead of sticking it out until the end of the year?

Some said he left to go solo first and get the spotlight, but he didn’t actually release solo music until after the hiatus started, he risked a really negative public image by doing so, Simon Cowell had actually claimed the fall before that 1D members could do solo music while in the band, and he missed one of the concerts he’d been really looking forward to (Dubai) instead of at least waiting until the end of that tour leg when there would be a month-long break.

Additionally, even though Zayn is supposed to be “free of Syco”, it’s pretty clear that his own team is sabotaging his solo career with a complete lack of promo and unnecessarily negative print interviews. Zayn can’t be blamed for this because even if those things were his choice, they’re not going to earn money and his team has a vested interest in that and yet would apparently be doing nothing about it. Going back to the theory that Zayn left because of not liking how Syco/Modest did things, clearly him going solo didn’t fix that problem whatsoever and Zayn is too smart to cut ties and burn bridges only to jump from one bad situation into another.

Some people say all of the above things were lies to cover the fact that Zayn and 1D just didn’t get along. There’s no proof of this. Like I said, he was just as affectionate with them leading up to his departure. He was very complimentary of them right after he left, and then suddenly there were Twitter fights with Louis out of nowhere (very suspicious Twitter fights by the way), a supposed feud with Harry (that has only ever existed in the headlines as there is literally no proof other than “a source said”), and negative and then positive and then negative and then positive comments in print interviews despite this being very inconsistent with the official narrative of what’s happened. Zayn has never from his own mouth said something vitriolic about the other boys. In fact, the way he talks about them in his few radio/tv interviews is far more positive than his supposed words in print interviews (which can be manipulated very easily).

They claim that Zayn up and decided to leave and then caught a plane without anybody knowing and went back to the UK. This is very unlikely considering all of the people around him that would notice like the bodyguards, etc. Also, this assumes Zayn is the type of person who would make such a rash, snap decision. They also announced him officially leaving not long after which begs the question, did Syco/Modest do nothing to try to persuade/coerce 1/5 of their biggest money-maker to at least finish the tour?

The way it was announced was quite odd, considering it was posted on Facebook of all places immediately after the end of a concert and sounded extremely impersonal like a PR person wrote it (which Zayn later confirmed). The Mirror also reported on the announcement almost immediately which means they had to be tipped off because they wouldn’t have had time to find the announcement and create an article about it otherwise.

The other odd thing is that there were never any consequences for Zayn leaving. He’s part of a huge money-making band and he broke a contract with his team, so you would assume that they would 1) sue him, 2) demand he pay the very high fee for getting out of the contract, or 3) drop him from the label/management agency and make sure no one else will work with him in the industry. None of these things happened. There’s obviously been no suit as it would have made news. There was no payoff because Zayn’s net worth never changed in such a dramatic way. Originally the story was that Syco ONLY let Zayn leave if he signed to them for his solo career, but then Syco claimed to have dropped Zayn BECAUSE he left, but then Syco was still listed on his first solo release (which is sketchy in and of itself).

And let’s talk about the timing once more because there’s a little more to it. He left 7 shows before the end of the Asia/Africa leg of OTRA. This meant that he missed the Dubai show which was in an area of the world where he was very popular, where he has cultural ties, and where he had explicitly said he was excited to perform. That leg was the last leg before a planned 1-month tour break, which would have been a much more logical time to leave, break it to the fans, deal with the paperwork, etc. That tour was also the last tour before the hiatus. No, it wasn’t announced until later, but it’s very unlikely it wasn’t planned before that. Even the fans kind of assumed there would be some sort of break after the album since as far as anyone could guess, that was going to be the end of the Syco/Modest contract time period.

If Zayn couldn’t stand the band or wanted to go solo or couldn’t stand his management team, there was an obvious out coming up that would have been way less complicated and would have had way fewer potential negative consequences. For any reason but anxiety (which is eliminated because of the baffling solo career decision), it doesn’t make sense for him to leave instead of waiting out the year.

There are any number of oddities about the way he left and the given reasons for him leaving. No matter what theory you look at, it isn’t consistent with logic OR with Zayn’s character and past actions.

So these things were why some of us were suspicious from the start and paid close attention as the events unfolded. As we did, we just caught more and more inconsistencies and suspicious things.

3) Finally, I need to point out one massive area of evidence about Zayn’s leaving being a (particularly long-lived [although only a couple months longer than babygate]) stunt. The shade.

The 1D boys have a long history of throwing shade that contradicts the official narrative, thus cluing fans in that some lie is being told. There’s hella shade around Zayn’s leaving from both him and from the other boys.

The masterpost I linked at the top contains several posts about this, so I’m not going to rehash that here. However, I will briefly go into what I think is the most compelling evidence that Zayn was actually planned to return to the band in August 2015.

The reason I find this particular shade so compelling is because it’s actually a pattern of shade, and not only is it a pattern of shade, it’s actually 5 overlapping and coordinated patterns of shade.

The basic idea is that Zayn was scheduled to return on August 5th, around July 26th the boys learned that the return was delayed, the 2nd scheduled return was probably August 18th, and then that return was also delayed/cancelled.

First is Niall’s all-black pattern. Niall had never worn an all-black outfit on stage before and he’d never repeated the same outfit more than 2 times in a row during a tour, but starting from the concert before Zayn left, he wore all black for 8 shows in a row until the end of that tour leg. He stopped for the European leg and some of the NA leg. Then, 8 shows before the August 5th show, Niall starting wearing all black again, like a bookend. He didn’t make it to 8 shows consecutively because plans got changed, but he did continue wearing some amount of black at almost every show until the end of a tour in an organized pattern.

Second is Rainbow Bondage Bear’s (“RBB”) stickers. In mid to late August, people started associating the recurring blue and green stickers on RBB with Louis and Harry because of their blue and green mic grips. In fact, there were orange and yellow stickers (Niall and Zayn) before that, and a red sticker (Liam) showed up after that at strategic times. The interesting thing is, Zayn’s yellow sticker was up for exactly 8 shows, ending on, you guessed it, August 5th.

Third is the Batman references. With Liam taking the lead, the references to Batman skyrocketed in August. Participants included Liam, some of the musical band members, Naughty Boy, and Zayn (yes, both sides participated). Three particularly compelling references when put together are 1) the bat symbol that was put on the big screen at the 1D concert in Kansas City after the show (the bat signal traditionally calls Batman to come to it), 2) Zayn posting a fanart of his own name in the bat symbol (indicating himself as Batman), and 3) Naughty Boy posting a quote from Batman about the darkest moment being just before the dawn, which he posted with the hashtag “comesoon” (indicating a positive change coming soon). All together, it’s hard not to read them as a sign that Zayn was supposed to return to the 1D stage soon. Incidentally, RBB wore a Batman costume on, yes, August 5th.

Fourth is the 5th of the month pattern. On the 5th of the month, from June 2015 to September 2015, something Ziam-related always happened with the exception of August 5th. On June 5th Liam wore a ring (unusual for him at the time) in concert. Surrounding circumstances point to it being Zayn-related. On July 5th there was a video taken of Liam singing and coming out of the shower where surrounding circumstances point towards Zayn being the one filming. On September 5th, Zayn and Liam started posting Instagram pictures that seemed to mirror each other or hint at Ziam in some way. On August 4th, the Zerrie break up was announced, but on August 5th there was nothing in particular. However, there would have been if that had been the first concert Zayn returned.

Fifth and final is related to the in-ears the boys wear on stage (and specifically to the 2nd return date this time, August 18th). Oddly enough, the boys seem to change their in-ears in overly patterned ways and although I can’t identify what exactly they’re marking all the time, some of the ones I can link match up to Zayn’s leaving and potential return. Liam wore a different set of in-ears for the last 5 concerts of the Asia/Africa leg of OTRA, starting on the Jakarta concert which was the first after Zayn’s official leaving announcement was made. Later, starting on the Winnipeg show on July 24, the first show after Niall’s all-black bookend was disrupted (indicating Zayn’s return date was probably in flux at that point), Niall wore different in-ears for 3 shows. Then Niall switched back to his regular and Liam picked up the pattern seamlessly by wearing different in-ears for 3 shows and 1 TV performance. There are 2 possible ways this pattern could have ended that would make sense. 1) Liam could have counted the TV performance, worn in-ears for 1 more show and that would have completed Liam’s bookend of 5 different in-ears ending the show before Zayn’s (2nd scheduled) return on August 18th. This would have resulted in a total of 8 performances with different in-ears counting both Liam and Niall and both concerts and TV performances, which partially (it doesn’t end on the concert Zayn would return)matches Niall’s bookend pattern. 2) Liam could have not counted the TV performance (the in-ears are almost exclusively a concert pattern) and worn in-ears for 2 more concerts, resulting in 8 total different in-ear shows ending on Zayn’s 2nd return date, completing Niall’s bookend pattern. This would also mean Liam wore his in-ears for 5 performances, partially matching his bookend pattern (but not ending before the concert Zayn would return). Again, I think the pattern was disrupted because Zayn’s return was again delayed (indefinitely as it turns out).

All of these patterns are explained in more detail (and with visuals because heaven knows it’s just a lot of dates and numbers without seeing it) in posts that are linked to my masterpost.

There are also several other surrounding events that seem to confirm Zayn’s delayed returns such as:

the Zerrie break up;

an aborted Zayn-Naughty Boy fight;

the advent of positive 1D-Zayn relations leading up to August and then negative press resuming around August 17th;

a few things that might match up relating to Niall’s Where We Goin’ Today Mark video shade pattern; and

the release of Drag Me Down which seems to have possibly been moved up by a week or so, indicating it originally might have been an OT5 song meant to be released around Zayn’s return.

To me, the fact that these patterns were so obviously deliberate (they’re way too organized not to be) and that they all overlap and point to the same dates, along with the fact that people from both camps participated in the Batman pattern, points to a definite return plan that was positively anticipated by both the boys and Zayn.

If I were to ever wonder if maybe Zayn really didn’t want to return even if leaving wasn’t his idea in the first place, this is what makes me positive that he did.

If I ever wonder if maybe there was a falling out with Zayn and the boys after he left, even if he didn’t want to leave to start with, the shade from both sides makes it obvious to me that there never was any real bad blood. If they all go to the trouble to contradict the official story, then clearly the official story must be a lie and the boys must all be on the same page.

Conclusion

I know this is a long post, but this is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the sketchiness around Zayn leaving.

Unfortunately, I haven’t followed through on organizing all the evidence like I had planned to at one point, but I think the masterpost I put together does cover a lot even if it’s a bit repetitive with some posts and a bit disorganized.

We had some conversations at the beginning to make this song more ... let's say, radio friendly. But I wanted to keep it simple. To be honest, this production may be closer to my album than "Just Hold On" and "Back To You." The beauty of (those songs) was to be able to live in the world of other artists, as I did with Steve Aoki and Digital Farm Animals. But it wasn’t exactly my sound. For the album, which will come out later this year, I won’t say that we’ll only have ballads, but the production will be essentially organic, real, nothing super-programmed.

What else can you say about the album?

I’ve worked hard on it. In terms of lyrics, I can say that I am being very honest and telling my life’s stories in songs that help me to know a little more about myself.

You are often singled out as a perfectionist. Did that contribute to going this long without releasing a solo album?

Yes. And you get more pressure when you're doing solo work, especially on an album. I want to make sure every song comes out as good as it can be. I don’t want to listen later and have the feeling that I could have done better. Time has passed, and I think there’s more pressure now for me to release an album soon. So I have to be even more certain.

How do you deal with this pressure?

I definitely feel it, as well as the responsibility I have, leaving so many people waiting patiently for this record. But again, I'm also aware that if people expect so much, I need to make sure it's brilliant.

Rydrion Tales: The Story So Far

Given the amount of interest our dear @gay-aasimar has been getting in the campaign, I figured I would help her out and take it upon myself to provide a write-up of our beginnings. This should cover the story about the Foxes of Fadun up to the point where she started telling our adventures. Because after all, what good is a story about heroes without a proper beginning?

In the world of Rydrion, months are measured in increments of approximately 60 days. Our story begins about half a year ago, in the autumn of the year 932 PLB, or “Post Last Battle.” Nearly 1000 years ago, Gods and Men fought side by side to save the material plane from destruction, and the Last Battle was the turning point where the Light’s Blade (one of the gods) sacrificed himself to forge the Divine Gate and seal away all the gods, both good and bad, for the survival of mortal races.

A band of misfits came together from all across the continent and beyond, following postings of work for the promise of adventure to the coastal mercantile city of Terus. A surly dwarf named Thelgrun Fadun was putting together a team, and we were the ones who answered the post. A fateful occurrence if there ever was one.

The newly assembled group quickly found their first contract, a distraught widow named Laurel Wisenbaum came to us in the hope we could track down her lost child, who’d gone missing near the City of the Dead, the massive district-sized graveyard in Terus. Hijinks ensued, including an abandoned mine, phase spiders, toothless gravediggers, a pair of benevolent ghosts and their lost family heirloom, an intricately carved crystal rose. Eventually, we found the lost boy in the Elven catacombs underneath the city, as well as the starving Mindflayer that had chased him down below. The creature was easily dispatched, and Laurel’s son returned, along with the crystal rose to help the pair get back on their feet.

Word soon spread of our merry group, and henceforth we dubbed ourselves the Foxes of Fadun, to give a colloquial title to our adventuring escapades. After being featured in the local paper, we caught the attention of a merchant captain named Barry Hiddleston. He was one of many suffering from a rampant bout of piracy in Anchor Bay, the waters off the coast of Terus, and his pleas to the city guard had fallen on deaf ears, thanks to lack of influence among the merchant guild.

We agreed to help the poor man, and found ourselves dragged headlong into a swashbuckling pirate adventure, eventually meeting the cause of the merchants troubles, an elven captain named Allisande. She was cursed by a witch, bound to her vessel, the Pero Terminus, and had been in pursuit of tracking down its cause. We offered to help her break the curse, in exchange for her leaving the merchants of Terus alone, and she agreed.

Eventually, we discovered the truth behind her curse. Allisande’s ancestors were worshippers of the Boundless Midnight, the dark god of undeath and destruction, known as the Shadar-Kai. Once followers of the Weaver, they turned their backs on the Light and were corrupted. We uncovered a scroll of dark power in an ancient shipwreck at the center of Anchor Bay, triggering a massive storm brought on by the weakened planar boundaries in the area.

The remaining crew of the Captain had mutinied in the meantime, stealing Barry’s ship, the Cricket, and launching us into a ship-to-ship battle around the churning waters of a raging maelstrom. Allisande succumbed to the darkness within, transforming herself into a terrifying Death Knight and crippling her vessel in the process. One of the Midnight’s Black Templars, she left us to our fate, wherein we escaped the maelstrom and last we saw, sent the Pero Terminus straight to the bottom of the sea.

Some negotiation with her remaining crew later, we returned to Terus having narrowly escaped our first real brush with far greater forces we had yet to comprehend. On our return, we were greeted by the steward and Royal Spymaster of the Queen of Terus, Bartholemew Ailheart. He had a job for us, on behalf of Queen Faile Rai herself. The Nobles of the city were being murdered and raided in their homes, and panic was beginning to set in.

An investigation into the raids led us to meet a half-orc by the name of Khaddash Dreamsong. He despised the nobility of the city and was leading the attacks against them, transporting his army by way of the World of Dreams. The World of Dreams exists in a parallel to the waking world, and people born as Dreamwalkers can enter it through sleeping. A powerful spell known as Gateway can open a portal through the World of Dreams as well, enabling transit across vast distances in the blink of an eye.

We discovered Khaddash was seeking the dwarven stronghold of Khundrakar, a mountain fortress that was his father’s former keep, stolen from the dwarves by orcs long ago. We acquired a contract to find the place ourselves from a dwarf named Khurdin Ironeye, and set off into the mountains to beat the half-orc at his own game.

Thankfully, we found it first, and after clearing the place out of its current orcish inhabitants, met a band of friendly Duergar that became our allies. It was here we left behind Ailinon, for the cleric was called home to her city by her goddess, and instead discovered a very unlikely ally, a half-drow bard by the name of Apsenin El’yar. We met another fearsome Death Knight in the hallowed halls, and after beating the Dragon that lived in the cavern below the fortress, made off like bandits with a horde of gold and treasure.

It was here we added a new member to our group of would-be heroes. Fadun called us back to the dock ward, telling us he’d hired on another adventurer. Another wizard, a strange and mysterious blind Elven fortune teller simply going by the name of Sesha. Her first trip with the group was on our trek to confront Khaddash.

Khaddash left the mountains after his failure to find the stronghold first, and we returned to Terus having put a stop to the plot against the nobility. We attended a banquet in our honor, and became friends with Queen Faile before discovering a plot to poison the wine at the party and presumably kill a good number of the attendants. It was done by a female Drow, who spoke of some sort of mass extinction event before killing herself before us.

Their backup plan was to assassinate the Queen herself, but we managed to thwart it just in time, returning to the Palace to find her held at wand-point by a raving madman. One standoff later, and a lucky shot by me to knock the wand from his hand, and we found ourselves rewarded handsomely for our work. Fifty thousand gold, a plot of land to be bequeathed to the Foxes, and a personal piece from the Queen’s collection. Mistral’s Eye, the Glaive of the Four Winds, the first Remnant from the Last Battle to come into our hands. As the only finesse-weapon user in the party, it was given to me.

For our chosen plot of land, we decided to find the lost fortress of Emberhold, high in the mountains north of Terus, in the Broken Ring. Emberhold was the site of the Last Battle against the Darkness, and had been lost for nearly a millennia. We set off with our map and a dream, and eventually came upon the reason behind its disappearance. A series of trials belonging to several different Gods, meant to test our worthiness and bestow upon us the title of the Lightbearers. We succeeded, the powerful magic hiding Emberhold from the world was wiped away, and the fires were lit once again. The Last Bastion of the Light shined with renewed hope, in a world that was soon to desperately need it.

Emberhold needed work, however, and after some magical messaging we convinced our Duergar friends to travel and begin mining the rich Mithril veins under the fortress. Along with them, we made a new friend in Vigil, a planetar bound to an enchanted statue, the last remaining guardian of Emberhold’s walls. We discovered writings from before the Last Battle in the office belonging to Loremaster Shen, a high cleric of the Heart of Knowledge, along with his most prized possession. A control amulet, paired to a lost construct named Vorn, the First Sentinel. We would need to find its resting place for the amulet to be of any use.
