the layers of grief and burnout from the past few weeks have been immense. i did a few acrylic pours to try and let my brain unclench enough to breathe. mixing paint. pouring paint. watching it dribble. not thinking about the years of scrabbling up a wet cliff wall and falling down, bloody and broken. not thinking about all the photos of hummingbirds i've taken and how i can't show them to her because she's been gone for years now. just mixing the paint the best i can with the tools i have. pouring it into a cup. pouring it again. letting it flow, watching how it unfurls.

I think that everyone who puts together a Good Omens con with in-person elements, and doesn't include vigorous mitigation options including but not limited to a fully enforced mask mandate, should pay every medically-vulnerable member of the fandom five bucks.

Inclusion is hard and inconvenient and you don't wanna do it. I get it. We're being left behind so you can have more fun. But if you're not gonna look me right in the eyes (metaphorically) and tell me "you are not worth the bother to include", then you could at least buy me a goddamn consolation coffee. (Or send five bucks to your local food pantry in my name, whatever. But other excludees might still want the coffee.)

(I'd be very interested in seeing the science which leads to the conclusion that covid will be over by such and such date, thus rendering my concerns obsolete. Otherwise, completely skipping over any kind of planning almost feels like a gamble which you have decided is worth it because it's not like you lose anything if your medically-vulnerable fellow fans end up excluded from all your super awesome fun in-person events.)

So I don't know if it was ever revealed how Duncan felt when we killed Malistaire all three times but I'm wondering if maybe some part of him could hate us for that too. Like you hear that and you go "but why. Malistaire was terrible and even Duncan knew that(?). Why would he hate you for getting rid of him."

But like I think it's so....... interesting in a very, very, very sad way how Duncan so easily latches onto anyone who directly feeds into his delusions of grandeur. And that's no fault of his own that he was manipulated by the nasty Schism but when you think about how desperately clung to the idea that Malistaire, easily one of the greatest necromancers any of us had ever heard of (at that time), somehow actually recognized Duncan's talents (even when canon supports that Duncan wasn't all that talented, at least no more than the next necromancer) and then praised him for it so often that Duncan believed that he would be the next Death Professor is. I mean ☹️

So like with that mindset I unfortunately feel like it would be quite easy to twist even Malistaire's death as something that's horrible and awful and all our fault. ESPECIALLY if the Schism was feeding into Duncan's already broken mind and shattered ego and was constantly telling him that everything bad that ever happened to him ever in his life was Our Fault. That's like a realistic conclusion that someone like Duncan could come to

And like, at this point in time, are Malistaire's crimes even a factor in how he thinks????? Was Duncan ever able to separate Malistaire's talent and skills and prowess from the terrible and awful things he did? If Duncan wasn't able to consciously tell that distinction in the first place I can't imagine it would be any better during the years he was being manipulated and isolated and lied to

Like in Duncan's mind it probably isn't, "maybe I shouldn't idolize a national criminal, or idolize anyone at all for that matter, and aspire to be like someone so harmful when I can recognize my own talent and build from there" it's probably more like, "you (the wizard) permanently got rid of a brilliant mind, an innocent person who just made a few mistakes, and someone who believed in me no matter what just so that you could be the better than me and loved by everyone else" and that's! very sad actually!

Some prayer requests, one more minor but still really frustrating, and one that I’m just…struggling to do…

1. I know I should say something to my pastor about how I’ve been hurt, but now his wife’s mom passed away so I don’t want to add to any pain but also…it’s been months and he’s invited to one of my friend’s birthday party next week so I just…feel stuck and not sure what to do…

2. I’ve messaged a person from Odyssey twice about if I can edit my own pictures instead of them using the edits they’ve shared, and I haven’t heard anything back…I’m probably gonna try to email someone else but it’s really frustrating because…I’m not proud of one of them, the way it is edited looks so *bad* to the point I’m ashamed that my name is on it. And two pictures I don’t *think* they could make look bad, but one that I really love hasn’t been shared yet and I *do not* want them to mess it up (I’m currently trying to edit that one myself, so I’ll have my edited versions all ready to go). It’s just…discouraging and frustrating 😖

I’d appreciate prayers that they actually get back to me and I can send them my edited versions to use for the event instead

Honestly the championship and the farce of the race aside, I’m mostly just angry and upset at Ferrari botching this season so spectacularly and on so many levels, including strategic and technical. That car started off as formidable, quick, obedient, and what we’re seeing now is a mediocre, struggling car being pushed beyond its limits by the driver. After the warm-up period Charles’s tyres started dropping off very quickly causing a significant loss of pace. Still, he defended as best he could for as long as he could from a much stronger, quicker Red Bull.

Of course, Max and his team (largely built around him, where he’s given 100% steadfast support and backing) have been superior this season and the mess of this race aside it was only a matter of time before they inevitably sealed the deal. That being said, Ferrari have made it irritatingly easy and had they presented a more competent, united front and chose to stand behind Charles 100% it would’ve (and should’ve, given their form at the start of the season) been a much closer battle for the title(s). They can’t control RB’s development or Max’s performance but they can control their own development as a constructor and as a team. Instead you get this sense of being robbed of that competition, of being denied; the bitter disappointment of Ferrari once again failing to reach its full potential, or, worse, even holding Charles back from reaching his full potential at times.

No worries! 😊 I have indeed been asked about this a few times, but my answers were admittedly always hypothetical. I don't think I've ever officially confirmed or denied this. 🤭

The thing is, I honestly don't know whether they'll ever reach that point in my art or not. 😳 I've been in this fandom for almost a year, and they haven't confessed their feelings yet; let alone kissed or gotten engaged! 🙇‍♀️😅 As of right now, they sort of exist in this "in-between" zone that is neither platonic friendship nor full on romance, pretty similarly to their game counterparts. 🤔

I want to say "Yes" to your inquiry, but at this point in time, it's still a bit abstract. There are a lot of things that need to happen before they get there, and there are yet many concepts I want to draw in that "before" phase. 🫠
