Hehe here's some ramblings ab my weird Groundhog Day Price au thing :) this is kinda me laying out a timeline of everything and whatever else comes to mind

Heads up: I don't think I'll ever turn this into one long cohesive fic, it'll probably just be little ficlets and then long ramble-y bits like this

Read my first post regarding this au or else you'll be lost bc I explain a lot of things from my intro that I don't exactly plan to put into in depth writing.

Intro

So uh timeline is funky bc I forgor ab canon and consistency and also despite the fact I've played both 2019 and mw2 multiple times I'm still dumb. N e way:

I assume that the boys aren't familiar with each other at the beginning of mw2 but price knows all of them bc he hand picked them. I assume that they haven't worked w each other b4 those events but we're throwing that out the window here bc I forgot :)

So they had one very brief mission together before the events of mw2, the one described in my little intro blurb, nothing too serious or long, not enough time for team bonding, simply something I made up for expository ab the whole Groundhog Day thing.

Also ok explaining background Ghoap w my fucky timeline bc I totally forgor I wrote some implied Ghoap:

I dug my own grave by saying I wanted to set my blurb b4 mw2 and make that mission quick and they don't even get any time to like bond properly, but we can make this work ok? Ok. I don’t see Ghost as a self sacrificing person despite the fact that he's military and it kinda comes w the job and his status as definitely dead and shit and just his kinda general disposition. I can see it if he's v close w someone but otherwise it usually isn't "practical" bc of how useful he knows he is. In this scenario though ima say that Ghost had been heavily injured in the heli wreck and knew that he wasn’t gonna get too far. Once the heli crashed, he had been the closest to Gaz and had tried to pull him out, for the sole purpose of during the time before he could tell how fond Prive was of him, and because Ghost cares deeply for Price he made an effort to rescue Gaz, that doesn't work obviously and he ends up terribly injured. Later on, once they start taking heavy fire and closer to his death Ghost realizes that he's not going to make it too far and decides that when there needs to be a sacrifice, bc he knows there will, he'll go down.

Cut to Ghost sees that Soap's ab to get fucked up and takes the shot 4 him. Soap's reaction, unlike Ghost's reasoning, is based in vague Ghoap. Soap comes to the conclusion, b4 they even get out of the heli, that the Lieutenant does not like him. Fine, he's clashed w/ COs b4, nothing new. He was hoping that since they were gonna be on this same tiny team that maybe the could be friendly but he supposed not. So imagine his shock when the man who seemed to despise him sacrifices himself for Soap. He's touched, truly, especially bc that Soap will never know that Ghost's real reasoning. That Soap believes in that moment that maybe that Ghost didn't hate him and maybe kinda really liked him but didn't show it. He beliebes that if THE Ghost sacraficed himself for Soap, that he must feel that Soap was a valuable member of the team, maybe moreso than him. That Soap is also in the middle of watching his entire team get wiped out and realizing that it's now him and Price against what feels like an entire army so his extreme emotional reaction to Ghost's death is also in part from that.

Explanation of how this Groundhog Day shit works btw:

The first time it happens is in my little intro blurb thing. Price will go through an event where any one or more of the 141 dies, and then he will be sort of sent back in time to varying amounts of time before the events happen so that he can prevent their deaths. Price can't control it obviously. How Price discerns that these aren't weird premonitions and actually events that he lived through is that he always gets sent back with some scars from whatever shit show happened. Like for example in my blurb he would come back with his palms all scarred up from the broken glass he grabbed from the window soap got tackled out of at the end. It's a weird mechanic ik but shhhhh it's for angst purposes. It's there as a sort of reminder for Price for all the times he's "failed" his boys bc I FUCKING LOVE ANGST n e way,

Then the events of mw2 happen ofc. There are different points throughout in which I will kill the boys so here's that death list:

Gaz- something to do with the helicopter bit, obviously, like he gets no breaks, idc if you get tired of how many heli deaths I give this man, I like it. I think everyone gets one death during mw2 events

Side note: one thing I feel like I'm having a hard time balancing is making this compelling by "killing" off the boys and traumatizing Price, and also not making the boys look more incompetent if that makes sense? Like I had three deaths drafted up for Gaz but felt it was too much?

Kate: 110% dies at one point during the whole hostage thing. Gives an extra oof to John's whole apology bit to her afterwards (ome of my fav interactions in the game tbh)

Ghost: this fucker is proving the hardest to brainstorm for tbh. Like if anyone, for any of these parts at all, wants to put in any ideas feel free to, but I just feel like the others have NDEs that I can use as deaths, but honestly I feel like Ghost is I don't want to say better than the others but there's not really a point in mw2 in which I feel like I could take inspo for a death? So ig tldr: TBD but maybe none at all and when the timeline expands to after current canon I give him smtg big to give my boy some attention?

Soap: alone, obviously. This one is more complex then the others. They're all gonna be situations in which John can do something, whether directly or indirectly to change the outcome. I think for alone John cycles through that loop for a bit, not being able to make contact with anyone in Las almas and he gets lucky that after a few cycles we get canon alone events. This will def be it's own little chapter fic drabble thing bc I have so much to say ab this and how it affects Price

Bonus soap thought: I also wanted to do Graves tank fight purely bc that's the part I had the most trouble with in my first playthrough of the game. I had to repeat that section an ungodly amt of time and shaped me into the avid Graves hater I am today. I'm digressing but n e way I decided against the tank bit bc alone was just so much more yummier in my head.

What e reader did you buy? Do you recommend it?

I was waiting to answer this when I stopped being sick so I could maybe be coherent but at this point idk when that's going to happen so we're just going to go w it and hope this makes sense sorry

I bought a kobo clara 2e. I wanted the smallest ereader I could find that was a reasonable price and also waterproof because I like to read in the bathtub and I am not immune to dropping things in the water. have ruined more than one book that way, have also ruined a nintendo switch that way.

the kobo ecosystem is not bad in terms of ereaders if you exclusively buy your ebooks from the kobo store. the kobo store is better than the amazon ebook store imo bc it lets you download drm-free versions of your purchases without having to go through any conversions, which I don't think is true of the kindle store.

kobo also lets you upload your own epubs and pdfs to the ereader from your computer pretty easily (you can add them like you would to a flash drive or you can use something like calibre to manage your library for you). there have been a few times when I've plugged my kobo into my computer and it hasn't automatically connected so I had to disconnect and reconnect it but then it worked fine. so it can be finicky but ultimately you should be able to get it.

the software that actually opens the ebooks and that you read with is actually different based on whether it's an epub in the kobo format (the filename will end with .kepub.epub) or literally anything else. kepubs will support more features, like annotations and faster page flips and easy word lookups in dictionaries (especially useful for reading the locked tomb which is Full of vocab words). you can also actually make changes the the font type and size. whereas anything else it just displays and doesn't let you highlight, annotate, or select text text. you can zoom in on things, but that's about it.

the good news is there are a lot of tools that let you turn things into kepubs. I currently use a plugin you can get for calibre, but I'm thinking about trying kepubify bc some of the epubs I've downloaded have turned into funky formatting with the calibre plugin.

right now my kobo clara 2e downsides are 1) device is still bigger than I'd like*, 2) kepub vs other file formats thing is mildly annoying, 3) can't buy ebooks from kobo store via app on my phone, have to either buy from kobo website or from my ereader, 4) screen is often less sensitive than I'm used to with other touch screen devices (this may just be an ereader thing), 5) I can't send books to my kobo wirelessly unless I've purchased them in the kobo store (idk if this is something I could do for other ereader systems, I haven't looked).

*there aren't really any devices from any of the major ereader brands with screens smaller than 6in (which is what the clara 2e has). I also looked at the xiaomi inkpalm 5, which does appear to be an ideal size for me, but you have to do some annoying command line shit to get it running in english and it doesn't appear to be waterproof. I may look into it again if I get sick enough of not having my ereader actually fit in my pants pockets. you could also get an eink phone and use it as an ereader, but they're phone prices instead of ereader prices, and most of them have the same language support issues the xiaomi has. the other thing I looked at is the open book project and the m5 paper which are both diy ereader kits and I'm more inclined to fuck with one of those than the xiaomi if I decide to do something more fun in the future, but I don't have the bandwidth for that right now.

kobo also supports integration with overdrive so you can check out library books, but I have recently discovered my library card is expired and bc I'm sick I haven't gone in to get a new one yet so I have no idea what that looks like and whether or not reading library ebooks uses the good reader (like with kepubs) or the no features reader.

one last annoying thing is the kobo store on the reader keeps trying to tell me to subscribe to kobo plus, which is basically like spotify premium but for ebooks and/or audiobooks. but not all titles ever are included so I haven't really looked into it v much bc rn I've found what I wanted to read through other methods (shout out to standardebooks.org)

anyway overall I would say I'd recommend it if your use case is exactly the same as mine, which is I wanted something small to read in the bath and carry around to hopefully replace my doomscrolling habit with reading like I used to when I was a kid, and it so far has been mildly successful. I did start wearing a fanny pack on a regular basis so that way I could actually carry it around everywhere like my phone, but even with a fanny pack I don't think you could fit something much bigger than 6-7in screen, so I'm not sure anything else would work. if you wanted a bigger ereader, I know someone else who has one of the larger kobos (not sure which one, we don't talk super often) and seems p happy w it. I briefly entertained the idea of getting one from kobo w a stylus and using that to take notes in class bc I saw some people in the ereader subreddit say they liked using it for that, and then I remembered I have an ipad and apple pencil to do that exact thing already and I'm already really happy w that setup.

i don’t do this much often but i just wanna write my opinion on tnc: temptation as a moa that also listen to many songs of differing genres (and also has been straying away from kpop/stan community—i may say that i have a pretty clear helicopter view). if i don’t write this, i would not live w/ myself, yet in the end it is my opinion so…

a honest review of tnc: tempation purely from musical observation (not proofread)

1. devil by the window: when this song was first announced w/o hearing any snippets of it until the release, i predict it’ll sound towards dark fantasy-esque genre, ethereal sounding like bts’ jimin’s “lie” or dpr ian’s “1 shot”. but it is dark fantasy-esque but more towards “cysm” kinda macabre type. i can see this playing in the wednesday netflix show.

but, the autotune makes the voice fuzzy in a way that it made my head a tad bit hurt. i think the sound engineer pushes the voice near the lower eq that it sounds as if its drowning in the instrumental and almost having its breath all taken out + the autotune is not great that i cannot make out taehyun’s voice from the song (why can’t i find my boy?!). i can hear some inspiration from billie eilish’s “bad guy” and “bury a friend” and w/ the peter pan concept, definitely make peter pan more like a creep. it’s also an all english song and i have a bad sentiment w/ kpop group singing all english song but that’s just my preference

2. sugar rush ride: the guitar sample is very nice, giving a funky taste to it. mid-verse parts w/ the voice sample before each pre-choruses are also very nice, probably my favorite parts of the whole song.

ngl, i think the producers has an epiphany w/ enhypen title tracks and realize that txt should do the same thing which is “making a title track without a bridge”. the format is literally verse > mid-verse > pre-chorus > chorus > post-chorus > verse > mid-verse > pre-chrous > chrous > post-chorus > outro. the idea of “sugar rush ride” doesn’t get elevated in the end and that is probably the reason why i think the song is “empty” instrumentally and the anti-drop in the chorus part doesn’t help. the song, imo, could be better w/ more instrumental tracks added at the end as if the song is stacking up to the climax that is the last chorus and outro. if “sugar rush ride” was a roller coaster, it wouldn’t feel thrilling for every1 who ride it

3. happy fools: the intro with the bossa nova melody and double bass sound makes me think it is a bossa nova sounding song but when the 808 drum beat starting, it becomes a hip-hop song that gen z likes to hear and in my opinion, a very common one that it doesn’t stand out as a txt track. it also has some salem ilese’s “ps5” coding to it. i think this song will blow up in tiktok as a background sound for a diy tutorial arts and craft type of stuff cuz it is artsy in a way. i’m also more convince it is made for tiktok because of its 2:35 length which very short and it cuts very abruptly at the end. i don’t like songs that are cater to tiktok even though it is the best way for them to market the album and this song has a whole “this song is made to be a tiktok sound that would go viral” all over it

4. tinnitus: this song definitely has a more tropical sound to it and it combine with the dancehall beat makes it feel that it is made to be danced by the ocean. the song is also stagnant as if it supposed to be a bgm for a video game that is supposed to be repeated. though the song fades unlike happy fools, the fading sound cuts to quickly that it is so abrupt i can’t even catch a breath fast enough. a short review for a short song…

5. farewell, neverland: when i hear the guitar intro, i already guess it’s gonna be great song. i imagine it like they’re going to tell a story by a campfire on the neverland sands as a farewell for them to go home. a good track to end the album! and even though it doesn’t have a bridge (cuz it’s 3 mins long aka i want more), the song has a clear arc on how it will be sing/presented especially with the closing that we met the guitar again. kinda like the hero’s journey but a small one, a current summary for the bigger hero’s journey txt has done in this album and the lore of it. though i haven’t read the lyrics, i could guess it’ll also be as beautiful as the melody, harmony, n rhythm of the song…

Nickname:  Power Angel Nickname origin:  Her hero name! Toshi once said she looked like an angel when they were kids, so she opted to use it in her hero name. (He was overly giddy when she tells him this.) Do they like the nickname?:  She'll never admit she loves it as much as she does. Titles/epithets: The Idol Hero.  Sex/gender:  Female. Age:  Early 30's  Place of birth:  Tokyo Race:  Human

PHYSICAL APPEARANCE Height:  5ft even. She is tiny.  Eye color:  Green Face shape:  Heart Shaped Distinguishing facial features:  a small Other facial features:  None Who do they most look like?:  She has a battered photo of her parents from back during the government trials, she can barely make it out - but she thinks she looks most like her mother. Left or right-handed?:  Ambidextrous. How do they dress?:  In the beginning of her career, her agency had her dress in very idol girl group esque costumes playing off the angel angle (heh). Lots of bows, ribbons, frilly skirts etc. Now that she's older, and has more control over her image, she tends to go for less constricting clothing, and flowy robes become more her style. When out of costume she tends to keep it simple. She's fine in a t-shirt and shorts/pants although she usually dresses it up with a pair of heels, but she l o v e s dressing up in cute dresses for Toshi. Nothing makes her giddier than seeing Toshi gush over her. She’ll come bring him lunch decked out in frilly dress, heels, socks, etc just to see him flip out. Any special accessories? When in costume she has a few, one being a halo she keeps above her head via her telekinesis. She uses it as a weapon in a pinch. She also wears angel "wings" that aren't actual wings, but she can use them to glide for short distances (think Mercy from OW) Because she can't wear her wedding ring while being a hero, All Might bought her a locket that she can wear with a picture of them both inside. Something they always carry with them:   She always has the locket Toshi gave her in lieu of wearing their wedding ring. On her cellphone is an All Might phone charm. Weapons:  She typically uses her fists or kicks because of her super strength, or the above mentioned halo. Her agency gave her a staff to wield as part of her ~Idol Magical Girl~ theme but she hated it and kept breaking it on purpose so they'd stop giving it to her.

Cleanliness/grooming:  She's always well dressed and clean, most people who've had encounters with her remark that she always seems to smell like freshly cut flowers. SPEECH AND COMMUNICATION Pace of speech:  She's normally very calm and careful with the way she speaks, coming across as very easy going. Her voice picking up in pace and becoming more high pitched is a sign she's getting more emotional. 

Voice tone:  Light, and melodic. However when she gets excited it tends to get more erratic, it’ll get louder and more rough.  Accent:  None. Describe their laugh:  When in costume and out doing hero work, its a very soft giggle. When she's in her civilian clothes, or more specifically when she's with people she's comfortable with - it can be pretty obnoxious - loud and she always ends up hitting someone because she's flailing her hands. Mannerisms/demeanor:  When in her costume she comes across as very demure, and pure. She puts on a very idol-esque approach to dealing with the general public. In her younger days as a hero it was often very cheesy and cute behavior. She retains bits of this demeanor now that she's older, but she prefers to dial it back now. When she's her normal self she can be a bit more rough around the edges, and tends to talk with her hands. She has a tendency of overreacting, but immediately becoming embarrassed when she realizes she's being overdramatic. She unabashedly claims herself to be All Might's #1 fan when going about her day-to-day civilian life, and has damn near every piece of merch, so she can come across as overly fangirl. (She's just really proud of her husband, even though she can't SAY that, so she comes across as a crazy fangirl.) She does have a darker side, though it's rarely seen and only comes out typically when she's pushed to her limit OR her childhood is brought up. As a child, she was much more cold and reluctant to make friends with anyone. It was through Toshinori and later, her time at UA high that she eventually learned to be more of a warm person. That being said, that colder side of her still exists and comes out if she's pushed.

Typical posture:  It's perfect, she doesn't ever slouch. Her training at her first agency made sure of that. Gestures:  She is the epitome of someone who talks with her hands. She's been knowing to whack people by accident, but has actively tried to quell that mannerism. (Not everyone is her husband who can take being whacked by someone with super strength.)

LIFE Current residence:   She lives with Toshi near UA High. Do they live with anyone?:   Toshi, aka All Might Where would they ideally live?:  She prefers warmer climates, but ideally, anywhere where she's with Toshi is her ideal place. She’s convinced him that when they retire and Izuku has taken his place as One For All’s successor, that they’ll retire to somewhere warm where they can both relax.

Any pets?:  None at the moment, because of their busy schedules as Heros, she and Toshi agreed they wouldn't be able to take care of any animals. (But both of them really really want pets of all sorts) Don't take either one of them near a pet store because it'll just end in tears and both of them consoling one another that "One day...." Current occupation? Are they satisfied with this?:  Hero. She's satisified with it to a degree. She loves being a Hero, and helping people. But she's becoming increasingly worried about All Might, and she longs for the day they both can retire and (maybe) start a family. General health:  After having tried to help All Might in his fight against All For One, she suffered a blow to her lower abdomen. While not as severe as All Might's injuries, (and not affecting her Quirks), she was told she may not be able to have children. Other then that she's recovered and is in pretty good health. FAMILY OF ORIGIN Mother/fathers’s name, age, status, etc.:   Unknown. Describe relationship with parents:  She's unaware of who they are, believing that they most likely didn't even know/love one another seeing as they signed up for government experiments and had her solely for said experiments. As a child she resented this fact, but over time grew to simply not think about her parents. She is worried about becoming a mom herself though - worried she won't be good at it because she never really had one. Any other caretakers?:  She bounced around from foster home to foster home. When she hit high school, she was allowed to live on her own while attending UA. (Financed by the government as continued restitution for the experiments done as a child.) Siblings:  None, that she knows of anyway. It's entirely possible she does, given the nature of her birth. Describe their ancestral history:  Unknown.

EMOTIONAL CHARACTERISTICS Describe their sense of morals:  As a Hero her morals are pretty black and white, but she also realizes that there are some villians who have, legitimate albeit skewed reasons for becoming Heroes. It's not that she thinks it makes their actions justified, she just realizes not everyone gets a fair shake in life. How do they act in public?: As a hero/Power Angel, incredibly soft-spoken, giggly, and demure. If she's out in her civilian life - she's pretty loud, and clumsy. She gets embarrassed easily from her own actions though.

How do they act privately?:  Same as her civilian personality. If she's alone with Toshi, she lets her guard down completely however and he's the only one who's ever really seen her at her most vulnerable. People may have seen her cry in anger, but he's the only one who's ever seen her truly cry in despair or anguish. How do they react in a crisis?:  When civilians are involved - she's perfectly calm and collected. She's known for keeping a calm, relaxing demeanor that helps solve crisises in a timely manner and keeps civilians at ease.

If someone she loves is at stake - all bets are off. She can keep her cool for a bit, but if you push the wrong button she tends to lose control. How do they view life?:  growing up she viewed it as unfortunate, she didn't really ask to be born, quite literally. After meeting Toshi, and once she enrolled in UA High and actually made friends, she realized that living wasn't really THAT bad. How do they view death?:  She doesn't like to think about it. At all, ever. Before All Might (and hers to a certain degree)'s brush with death, she didn't think much of it. But seeing him now, she's worried constantly about the people she cares about dying. What makes them happy?:  her most perfect ideal happy day is literally staying in bed all day with Toshi, and not getting out except for food. Just being with him and relaxing makes her happy, and seeing him not stressed. If she could laze around with him all day, she’d be in heaven.  What makes them sad?:  The thought of Toshinori dying, and the thought of being unable to have children.

What makes them angry?: If you bring up her past, she doesn’t like being reminded that for all intents and purposes she was created by the government to be a Hero, she doesn’t like the idea that she can’t escape some sort of mandated destiny. If you know about her marriage - don’t poke at it. She’s pretty self conscious that she’s not “good enough” for the #1 Hero, or even that she’s just not good for Toshi in general - she views him as such a good, pure person. It doesn’t help that it’s kept a secret, and while she knows its for the best - she hates keeping it a secret regardless. During her battle with Stain he managed to cut off her wedding locket, and when opening it figured out that they were married. He taunted her about it, needling her that All Might clearly just pitied her, and that she wasn’t good enough. (None of which was true, and when she told him later from the hospital he spent the next 10 minutes frantically reassuring her “HONEY, YOU KNOW I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!! WHAT THE HECK WHY WOULD YOU BELIEVE HIM!!!!!!” just exasperatedly flinging his hands around confused as to what he must have done to give her doubts.)  What humiliates them?:  HER PAST AS THE IDOL HERO. Her agency pushed the idol narrative hard, and it's lingered with her. Whenever someone brings her old CDs or posters for her to sign she'll sign it happily, but inwardly cringe. She'll sing live still occasionally but once off stage she'll throw herself into Toshi's arms if he's there and loudly wail about how embarrassing it is. (If he’s not there, he gets sixty two billion texts) (He comforts her telling her loves it when she sings, which is true - he has pretty much every piece of merch related to Power Angel and its not even because she's his wife - he just think she's the cutest fucking thing in the world. The cheesier the song was the be t t e r.)(They both try to out-fan one another, causing each other embarrassment.)

RELATIONS WITH OTHERS Who are their close friends?:  She has a few pro Heroes she considers close. She and Aizawa are fairly close, (All Might constantly asks her what he thinks of him and she refuses to answer) She and Midnight enjoy going out for drinks every now and then, (she goes to Midnight for advice on how to be ~sexier~ for Toshinori.) (The first time she put any advice to use, it took him a few minutes to calm himself down, he couldn’t believe his adorable wife could be like this.)(”She looks so sexy but she’s so goshdaRN CUTE. DAMN.) By far, Toshi is the closest friend she has though, it's why she married him. Sexuality:  Straight, First love:  Toshinori. Current love: Toshinori. People they dislike/hate: All For One, Villians in general. People who try and act as though she isn't a "real" hero because she used to be the Idol Hero. Stain managed to jump to #2 on her list (right after All For One) because not only did he manage to hit the "you're not a real hero" button, he also went after her marriage with All Might which is a big sore spot for her. MENTAL ATTITUDES

Any psychological issues?:  She has PTSD stemming from both her childhood as a test subject, and later from the fight with All For One. She's come a long way, and rarely suffers from flashbacks when awake, although nightmares do tend to pop up from time to time. Her fight with Stain however triggered an intense flashback, his bloodlust made her think she was back at the fight with All For One, and she was convinced All Might was dying in front of her again.
