Emily’s Halloween

“Fox, look! I want to go to that house!” a young voice said loudly

“Now Emily, he doesn’t like to be called that. He’d prefer to be called Mulder” Scully said gently

Emily sighed “Sorry Mulder” she corrected herself. Even though she was only a toddler, she knew better than to argue with her mother. Scully was definitely a loving parent but she could be firm when it was needed.

Mulder laughed. “Scully, it’s okay” he replied “I can make an exception to the ‘no Fox’ rule” he smiled as he adjusted Emily’s headpiece. She was dressed as a pumpkin and her little headband that her Grandma Maggie had made for her was slipping off of her head as she bounced from house to house, holding hands with her mother and Mulder as she collected candy. It was getting late and the bucket was getting so heavy that Emily was about to need somebody else to carry it for her if it got any heavier.

About an hour ago, they had decided to call it a night. Emily was so tired that Mulder ended up picking her up and putting her on his back, which Scully found adorable. She had taken a bunch of photos of the occasion and snapped a few of them both grinning as he walked them home. After a bath, some warm pajamas, and a bedtime story, Emily was sound asleep.

“Thanks for doing this, Mulder” Scully said as she sat down on the couch to watch Halloween with him. Since Emily was asleep, it was safe to change the channel to something more adult. Of course, Scully had the remote in one hand in case Emily decided to sneak downstairs for just one more Snickers bar.

“Anytime, Scully”

“I think Emily is glad you came too, you know, she loves spending time with you” Scully said as she put her head on Mulder’s shoulder.

“She’s a good kid.” he said “and anything for you, Scully. You know that.”

“I appreciate it though” Scully said “We both do” Something about seeing Mulder interact with the little girl made Scully’s heart leap. He already made a perfect father and she loved that. He kissed her on the top of her head. She grinned.

It wasn’t long until Scully and Mulder were curled up on her couch. She was resting her head on his chest. Walking around with Emily wore both of them out. At points, they had to check to see if the other was still awake. After the movie ended they looked at each other. They shared a smile.

“Hey Mulder”

“Yeah?” He replied

“Trick or Treat?” Scully asked

“Umm…” he thought carefully. “I’ll go with ‘treat’?” He said

Scully then just gave him a quick kiss on the lips. “Happy Halloween, Mulder.”

5. I do think that Find Me Naked In My Virgin Misery is quite funny. Geralt is pining, he's asking his friends for advice how to get it on with a man... and regardless the title, people seemed actually surprised with the plot. 😂

4. Die, Die My Darling is definitely one of my favorites, I think whenever somebody passes this game onto me, I mention it. We have assassination attempts on Emhyr, funny scribbles on Geralt's and Emhyr's wedding portrait, a crazy cat and Emhyr get's strangely hot at watching Geralt fight.

3. I was quite surprised that I'm Here To Burn Down The Past has received more than the usual 30 kudos, because not only is it once again set in my own headcanons (married Emhyr/Geralt, Triss as the court sorceress, my OC, etc.), it's a peculiar time travel story. I like it :)

2. Façade is for whatever reason a fic I really enjoyed writing. Maybe because it's a Modern AU, I really love those, they are fun. This one is Letho/Eskel.

Okay guess who was late to read ch.12 of NQK?! This loser! So let me tell you what i thought so far;

On the summary part when i read " splinter request something from F!leo " i remembered the picture where you showed bald F!mikey & i thought " bro were you gonna request older leo to shave his older version of younger brother because you can't?! Lol "

Then we go to where F!mikey get his hair trimmed like the old weed in somebody's lawn xD i was confused " bro why?! You said yo hair is gonna grow back! " until i realized he's doing what any ex after a break-up; throw the old & welcome new furniture for a new, fresh start.

But honestly he does look like a twin of mikey - that and his head looks like a Boling ball - making me wonder how long it will take for him to grew back and who's gonna style it.

When we reach the part of summary i kid you NOT, i felt F!leo on a spiritual level, like when your parents call for you, I FELT THAT!! Splinter starts rambling about how it's his fault for pushing responsibilities of leader to little leo and i remembered how most fic(s) pointed that out - not that am saying they're wrong, i agree with them - and i couldn't help but think " yeah i don't know if this was on purpose from writers because it says leo and raph should co-leadering.

Wonder if the show were to have more seasons wonder if they'll be back on the main plan or just keep leo leading.

NQK F!leo - and yes i put NQK there, sue me other writers - accepted the challenge/mission impossible/request.

And god when splinter said " call me dad " i felt leo would cry immediately on the spot, like you didn't write it but you also didn't need to because my mind imagined almost 7 foot (?) old man in his 40s crying to 3 inches rat/j/lh 😂

But again i would advise giving this old man a huge tissue bag if he's gonna cry every 30 minutes.💙

I laughed when F!leo said to little him " C'mere " i was like " bro are you talking to a teenager or a street cat?! 😂 " Little leo backing away and call him on the leader thing because he 'felt it in his bones' was related on another spiritual level because if i saw my parents talk about me i'd dip with every excuse in the world to NOT talk!

Then he asks him to 'talk' and go to dojo & i thought " soooo you're gonna whoop his ass as a way to talk? " but no, they really REALLY talk, F!leo ask questions and my mind goes " okay old man with babygirl energy, what's your game? " he ask about home, and i get giddy when little leo talk proudly about mikey & laugh at Donnie xD

I laughed at the " drill " part & how it took 2 seasons to upgrade it from beta to be finished. Then they go to shredder part & i thought " ohhhh! You're gonna remind little leo of how he was able to trick big mama but pull out 'at what cost?' Part " which - to be honest - was badass plan from leo but again... Worst communication ever.

F!leo cry in tears as he hugs little him & that when i thought; he made a mistake because he didn't want to be leader - which again i blame splinter, don't stop me people - and did what he thought would take his new role & get back to be support - which related because am 70/80% leo kinnie - but instead made a huge moos-take (badum-dass) that will probably stay - forever - his fault.

Little leo saw an example of it & tho he doesn't want the role it doesn't mean he can't take it slowly, they do have time thanks to the 3 hamatos - and jones we i won't forget them - from future, so proposing to start as co-leading with raph was a great step.

All in all, i thank you very much for the time you took out of your life to write this amazing ch. 12 of NQK🩷 and i won't lie when i say am excited for the future of this Fic🩷🩷🩷

Hello! I wanted to ask about the whole Treat concept: how exactly are those submitted? How are they requested? All that. Sorry for the confusion, this is the first gift exchange I’ve been interested in taking part in, and I’d like to learn as much as possible about the how they work!

Hello, lovely anon! Please don't apologise; I'm so happy that you're interested and asking questions. And, who knows, maybe others had the same query!

The idea behind treats is, in essence, extra love for people. They're for one of these scenarios:

I got paired with somebody, and I'm going to have so much fun creating something for their prompts... but somebody else who signed up for the exchange has prompts I read that make the plot bunnies in my brain go brrrrr.

I missed the deadline/couldn't commit to the exchange, but, wow, I still want to send love to a Zutarian this holiday season!

I want to write, but have no idea what to write, so I'm looking for prompt ideas. Let me look at these sign ups to see if anything bite— BY MY CABBAGES! I JUST GOT AN EXCELLENT IDEA BASED OFF THAT PERSON'S SIGN UP!

A mixture/combination of one of the other three above.

Ergo, treats are not requested. Treats are encouraged, but it's completely up to each writer/artist if they'd like to give a treat.

Writers/artists are encouraged to read through all the sign ups on the exchange (after doing a fic/artwork for their actual giftee, preferably 😂) to see if there's anything there they want to write in addition to their gift.

Writers/artists not part of the exchange are so welcome to also take a look, be inspired, and share a gift if the muse bites them.

Treats are therefore based off of the requests/prompts/wishlists already submitted from people. Kind of like overhearing a friend talk about how much they like tea, and deciding to also buy them a flavour of tea they mentioned they love, even though they're not your Secret Santa giftee. Just because.

Treats have no minimum requirements at all. Treats are uploaded to the exchange the same way as a gift fic/artwork will be. We just ask that one of their tags be "Treat". It will still be anonymous until January. Hey!! So I've recently been on a harry-sirius binge and have read a lot of fics abt Sirius being protective of his baby boy and giving his dates the shovel talk.

What I haven't seen is someone (preferably a boy) actually messing up and hurting Harry's feelings and Sirius finding out abt it.

I just really want to see how he would react and the consequences Harry's date would face, bcoz as dramatic as shovel talks are, nobody actually carries out those threats right?

So if you could please write something for me (or maybe bully one of ur friends into doing it coz I've noticed u have quite a reputation for that😅...no offense!!)

I actually really love this! You’re right, we never see how Sirius would react if someone broke Harry’s heart, but you know he would not let that slide. 

I don't think I would be physically capable of writing this as an actual fic without Remus involved. I understand not wanting Wolfstar, but I can't imagine a universe where Sirius didn't immediately call his best friend and fellow Marauder for backup after he learns that someone broke Harry's heart. 😂 Remus is extremely unhinged, after all, and he would be excellent at helping Sirius plot revenge. 

But I will attempt to do a Remus-less bullet point fic for you:

The boy who breaks Harry’s heart is absolutely Draco, because he’s an asshole.

Sirius didn’t approve of Harry dating Draco at all, but he kept his mouth shut because he’s a good dad. 

Harry breaks things off immediately after he catches Draco cheating, and he moves back home to Grimmauld after that, but he’s heartbroken and barely leaves his room. Even visits from his little godson Teddy don’t cheer him up.

(Yes this is DH-compliant because it’s the only way I can make sure Remus doesn’t accidentally appear lmao.) 

(Also Sirius is raising Teddy because I said so. This has nothing to do with the plot, I just needed everyone to know that.) 

Sirius spends a lot of time comforting Harry. Curling up in bed with him as Padfoot. Cooking all his favorite meals. Coaxing him out of his room so they can watch trash Muggle TV together. Giving Harry lots of hugs and giving him the space to grieve and cry. 

Sirius also goes over to the flat and packs up all of Harry’s things for him, because he’s damn well not going to make Harry step foot in that place again (and also plants a few magical surveillance devices.) 

There’s a big Ministry function that Harry and Draco were supposed to attend together at the end of the month that Harry still has to attend, and he’s dreading running into his ex and the affair partner there.

Sirius gets an idea. 

He enlists George Weasley’s help, because Marauders always work best with a partner-in-crime.

They proceed to make Draco’s life hell for the entire night--spilling wine on his very expensive robes, transfiguring birds out of napkins that follow him around and peck him, changing his hairstyle and hair color, slipping potions into his drinks that make him lose his voice (or talk in an atrocious American accent) whenever he talks to somebody Important. 

Sirius also leaks what he picked up on the magical surveillance devices to Rita Skeeter, and she writes up a damning piece about how Draco Malfoy cheated on the savior of the wizarding world. He gets shunned. Also the affair partner breaks things off with him. 

Harry and George fall in love and eventually get married and live happily ever after the end. 

(Sirius and Kingsley also get married later on. This also has nothing to do with the plot but I need everyone to know it. Kingsley was very impressed and honestly kind of turned on by all the mischief Sirius caused that night.) 

I am tagging @padfootastic in this because she is the only person I know who loves Sirius & Harry as much as I do while also disliking Remus. Maybe she can write you the fic that you are looking for, because I think I went off the rails with this one 😂

   “Did she have to learn how to use a sniper rifle and learn enough tinkering knowledge to put some kind of a powder grenade mod on it?” Carol complained aloud, looking at herself as she took in all of the many different colors covering her body at the moment.

   Kate sighed deeply, shaking her head. She was honestly not sure what to say but she completely agreed with the sentiment behind Carol’s declaration.

   Yelena had just ambushed them with a sniper rifle that she had somehow managed to rig so that it shot out hard little powder grenades that exploded and got some manner of random colored powders all over their victims. Carol and Kate had been walking back inside from a run that they had gone on together, and Yelena had taken her opportunity, obviously having been waiting for them to get back.

   They were her two favorite people to aggravate—or in Carol’s case, try to aggravate— so she must have been bored while they were gone since Natasha was having to spend so much time in meetings for the past several months with the discovery and the rising of new heroes.

   They had headed back so that they were at the front door of the compound at this point, trying to wrap up the last bits of removing the powder from their clothes and skin.

   “Like did they consider their responsibility to the world as our fellow human beings when they created that monster?” Carol desperately demanded as she dusted off her pretty white sweatpants and the loose white tank top, and Kate shook her head tiredly.

   “Y’know what I always say in times like these?” Kate finally asked as she dusted off bright blue powder from her sweatpants. Carol was dusting a purple mess off of her own, too, and she looked at her curiously as she spoke.

   “What’s that?” Carol asked, offering her a brief onceover as she reached out to Kate’s arm and softly brushed the powder from her bare shoulder. Kate smiled briefly, gratefulness in her eyes as she looked at the older woman.

   “My life’s like toilet paper. I’m either on a roll or taking crap from somebody,” Kate declared, and Carol let out a sharp bark of laughter, grinning widely.

   “Oh, wow, that’s good! Can I use that?” Carol questioned, a laugh in her voice, and Kate nodded, puffing up a little as she smiled back at her.

   She was proud that she had managed to draw a laugh from Carol. Granted, it was not an overly difficult task to make Carol laugh, but something about how happy and full it sounded when she actually offered a true, deep laugh was extremely gratifying.

   “Man… This better come out of my clothes or I’m taking Yelena Bavarian on a shopping trip with her paying,” Carol threatened, and Kate furrowed her brow, gazing at her uncertainly.

   “Yelena Bavarian?”

   “I don’t know, it’s a new one. Her hair’s kind of colored like Bavarian cream,” Carol pointed out with a shrug, seemingly deciding to finally straighten and leave her clothes be for a bit. Kate huffed, following her lead.

   “That’s pretty good. I’ve always just called her Yelena Banana,” Kate pointed out, and Carol snorted, surprise but also glee written on her face.

   “Oh my— that’s even better,” Carol complimented.

   They headed inside the compound, heading to the main room. Once they were there, Carol headed over to the couch somewhat tiredly, flopping down on it, and Kate followed suit, sitting down in the armchair sideways as she looped her legs over one arm and leaned back against the other.

   Carol let out a deep, exhausted sigh, and Kate looked at her, sensing she was about to speak up again.

   “So. Since we’re on the topic of our favorite little—”

   “Absolute delight of a human being?” Kate deadpanned a little, allowing the sarcasm to shine through, and Carol smirked, nodding to her as she continued her statement from where she left off.

   “That, I figured I’d ask you something if you’re up for answering,” Carol started, and Kate nodded, shrugging easily as she curiously looked at the older woman.

   “Yeah. I’m always up for a question,” Kate shrugged, shifting a little in her seat so only one leg was looped over the arm of the chair and her back was resting against the back of the chair at an angle.

   “Why do you let her push you around without actually getting back at her? You’ve had lots of opportunities, but you hardly ever actually take them,” Carol asked, tilting her head a little as she gazed back at her.

   Kate thought about it for a moment, considering what she would say next before finally speaking up with a slow nod.

   “Well, for two reasons I guess,” Kate finally stated. Carol whistled.

   “Two? Wow, I wasn’t really expecting one at all,” Carol confessed, surprise written in her features, and Kate huffed. Carol must have thought that it was one of those subconscious things that Kate had not put much time into thinking through.

   “You know me… Raising expectations one thing at a time,” Kate shrugged, laughing it off as she imagined all of the ways she had actually lowered expectations as opposed to raising them.

   As much as she loathed to admit it, she knew that there was probably a reason that Yelena thought of changing the phrase screwing up to Kate Bishop-ing. Yelena, of course, did not mean anything seriously bad by it, but it was the truth unfortunately. Kate was far too awkward for it not to be.

   “First, if I retaliate too much, I risk war and as you can tell by the sniper powder grenade rifle thing, no one stands a chance against Yelena in war unless it’s you or Natasha. And in terms of tactical advantage, only Natasha,” Kate explained, and Carol halfheartedly narrowed her eyes.

   “I take offense to that,” Carol told her, but her tone was too lazy for her to truly be serious. Kate just grinned at her, but allowed her face to fall back to something a bit more neutral as she prepared to state her next reason.

   “And it’s how she relates to me, I think,” Kate expressed, going on a more serious note, and Carol sobered a little as she looked at Kate and listened to her words.

   Carol slowly nodded, understanding in her eyes as she spoke up in reply.

   “Yeah, I can see that. That’s how she relates to me, too, I think,” Carol agreed, and Kate shook her head with a slight laugh.

   “And then she’s really sweet at the weirdest of times,” Kate pointed out, and Carol chuckled.

   “Yeah, I know. She hugged me for the first time the other day,” Carol huffed, and Kate’s eyes widened in shock.

   “Already?!” Kate cried. Carol looked at her with some confusion.

   “Well, she kind of hurt my feelings a while ago and she felt bad, I guess. I just never expected her to do that,” Carol raised her eyebrows, and Kate groaned, unable to help the smallest bit of jealousy and slight aggravation. Yelena really was a fickle creature.

   “Gosh, you know how long it took me to get a hug from her?!” Kate complained, and Carol raised an eyebrow.

   “What? When you got kidnapped a while back?” Carol laughed, obviously not really realizing that was truthfully the first time it happened. Kate nodded to her, and Carol’s smile quickly fell.

   “Seriously?!” Carol gaped at her, and Kate nodded emphatically.

   “Yeah! I mean, I think she thought I was getting between her and Natasha for a long time and when she finally realized that wasn’t what I was trying to do, we had to kind of go back to square one and build it from the ground up. But even then, she got fond of you super quick. So basically, what I’m saying is that you should feel really lucky,” Kate pointed out, grinning, and Carol shrugged, surprise in her gaze as she took it all in.

   “I kind of thought that she was always fond of you, too, though,” Carol acknowledged, and Kate furrowed her brow.

   “Why?” Kate could not help but laugh a little. “She’s always been picking on me and won’t hardly ever touch me like she does with you.”

   “I don’t know. Like you said, her picking on you is showing that she cares, and the not touching you thing is probably just the dynamic you guys have in her eyes. She touches meaningfully when it matters. The reason she touches Natasha so much is because she was raised with her and probably because she sees her as the older sister figure and wants that I guess approval from her,” Carol told her, amazingly insightful into this entire thing. Of course, as Kate remembered, Carol had been a little sister once.

   “You sound like you’re speaking from experience on that one,” Kate ventured softly, not pushing too far since she knew that was a sore spot. Carol moved her head in agreeance, a sadness slightly shining in her eyes before she moved on, trying to hide it.

   “And she probably doesn’t wrestle with you like she does with me because she knows she could hurt you, and she doesn’t want that,” Carol explained, and Kate slowly nodded as she offered Carol a onceover.

   “You really have a good handle on Yelena,” Kate commented, and Carol shrugged.

   “Well, yeah. I guess we just kind of think a lot alike,” Carol admitted, and Kate huffed, smiling gently. Carol grinned a little in response, and Kate opened her mouth to speak.

   However, just as she did, she heard a loud yell that sounded like it came from Yelena. Carol and Kate paused, turning in their seats to look in the direction of the noise. Yelena came practically leaping down the staircase, skipping steps as she tried to escape quickly. And right behind her was Natasha, aiming the powder grenade gun that she had made as she tried to land a hit on her younger sister.

   They ran past without a word, Yelena somewhere between laughing and panting as she attempted to get away and an evil look in Natasha’s eyes.

   Kate and Carol were dead silent for a few moments until they happened to make eye contact, and that was when they both burst into laughter.

   Yelena was certainly one of a kind. But they wouldn’t have it any other way.

First of all I love your blog! And that icon makes me happy every time I see it :D

Second of all this is actually the THIRD time I’ve tried to type this ask. 😂😅 first time I was nervous. Then Tumblr deleted the second one seconds ago because it’s bad luck day I guess. The curse of the broken headphones is spreading. It killed my laptop charger an hour ago and is now directly deleting my writing. Is the universe trying to send me a sign? Luckily, I am not listening. Though I do tremble in fear

I am writing a SDS demon analysis essay inspired by zorria’s post that’s been circling around about Tristian and Io. I wanted to ask you if you’d like to give a special guest / character / concept mention that you'd like to see me ramble on about! I’ll research pretty much anything.

So far for writing topics we have: zeldris, cursed by light, ethics of our least favorite tryant parents and the consequences, the supreme dirty specifically making me concerned for the future of the goddess clan for 90 minutes, Elizabeth’s holy war shenanigans, and Jenna and Zaneri making me question the druids.

TC Meliodas’s Questionable battle strategy, Zeldris being a literal brat (child Zel!) but a very smart one, the Ten Commandments doing their job well for once but behind the Demon King’s back, Fraudrin being forced into the role of NPC, the predecessors of the Six Knights of Black being even worse at their job than the ones the Sins best in prisoners of the sky, and the lack of goddess characters forcing me to come up with one on the spot. She has a randomly generalized name and her fate is undecided.

My standard video viewing program on my computer (that I prefer to use for my videos) just works like... 1 out of 10 times, for the past few days. No clue why. Kudos to you for being persistent! If you hadn't, I wouldn't have gotten this fun ask 😊 I feel you on the nerves though. I think I've only ever sent 1 ask. And that was to thank for hosting a whump event. And I know saying there's no need to be nervous is pretty pointless (because if you're like me you're gonna be nervous anyway) but just know you can write whatever to me. No judgement!

Okay. So, that essay sounds sooo interesting! And I... don't have anything specific in mind at the moment. (Like always, somebody asks me what's my thoughts on Topic are and I'm like... *cricket sounds*). But seriously, all those topics so far sound really good and interesting. Man, the SDS demons really are Something to think about, aren't they? Honestly, the demons, the goddesses, the first holy war are all so fascinating to think about. (And definitely something I wish had gotten explored more in canon). Like, take the goddess clan in that era for example (admittedly not something I think about as much as the demons but) and the SD's role in the war. Like obviously, as seen in Cursed by Light, she didn't want the holy war to end, wanting to keep her "game" and the balance between light and dark, but at the same time we have people like Ludociel, who is dead-set on not only ending the war but destroying all the demons. Actually, this goes for the DK and the demons too! Neither the Supreme Deity nor the Demon King wanted the holy war to end, yet had their best soldiers fighting tooth and nail to end it. It's just interesting to think about, how did their thought process work? The archangels and the Ten Commandments are their elite troops, right? And - what, they didn't actually expect them to win? Like what would have happened if one side had figured out a way to win that didn't include the disappearances of both demons and goddesses? So much to think about.

Oh! First fanfic, yay! I remember my first fanfic - or actually I don't. But I remember my first fanfic that I posted (not sure if that's the first I wrote or not). It was for Lab Rats over on FF.net back in 2016. (Oh, man, just typing that out made me feel old. Have I really been writing fanfics (on-and-off) for almost 7 years now?). To the surprise of absolutely no one it was angsty and family-centric.

And yeah, gotta write those cliffhangers ;) Happy to be of service (inspiration)! To share some excitement from my end as well, I am currently (as in as soon as I'm done typing this answer) working on chapter 2. So, hopefully I'll (finally) have that up soon!

Okay, let me tell you something: that fic sounds absolutely amazing! So many good things included. You've definitely got me intrigued already! And I feel you on the goddess character. I can't tell you how many times while writing my fics I've been like wait I need a goddess/demon character for this. And they need a name and an identity?? Not to mention the time I had to come up with a name for an entire dragon species. Thank god for name generators 😂 Usually I just generate names until I find one I like and then maybe change it a bit (like for the dragons where I swapped two letters around because I liked it better that way) or just take whatever name pops up in my head (that's sort of what I did for Mel's sister in my Dragon Meliodas AU; I took a name that popped up in my head and switched it up a bit to be more similar to Zeldris' for maximum angst). One time I even went: you know what, this goddess is a minor character, that's gonna flee the scene of the crime almost immediately and isn't really the point of the story, and then just didn't bother give her a name at all 😅 Actually! I'm in this spot right now too. I still haven't named my demon character in When the Past Comes Crashing, but it's okay so far. He's still an unknown mysterious demon to the readers, so I have time to figure it out 😂 😅

omegaverse is actually pretty popular in bl mangas so you're not wrong 😂

here's my take:

omegaverse acts like "secondary genders" in a way. like, you can have a male alpha (which is how it usually goes 😐 gimme more female alphas please), a male omega, or a male beta. ofc, in fandom spaces and especially x reader spaces, Reader is 99% of the time the omega.

everyone has a particular "scent" to them, which is why you'll see a lot about "scenting" in A/B/O fics (and tbh one of my favorite aspects of it. not the knots and the heats, but the scents lmfao)

omegas go into "heat" (like some animals do) and they give off this pheromone of "hi I'm in heat every alpha in the vicinity please fuck me ASAP because I literally cannot function otherwise", which is usually the major draw for people writing A/B/O fics. and alphas are almost always what a typical "alpha" sounds like: loud, in charge, snarling at the competition and acting like they're in charge of everyone they encounter, leaving the poor weak omegas quivering in their presence and the betas backing down in fear.

btw, betas in A/B/O fics? almost always side characters. they essentially function as "regular" people. for some reason.

see, I have my own issues with Omegaverse or A/B/O fics, but at their core they function as plot devices for characters to fuck relentlessly. and that's usually the beginning and end of most of those fics. it's when Omegaverse is used in a longer story that my issues with it tend to creep up. for example, Omegaverse is (usually) based entirely on disproven wolf pack dynamics, so things are very extreme and cut-and-dry.

plus, with a lot of these stories there tend to be warnings for dubcon/noncon because, well, omegas have a biological urge to get completely fucked by every alpha they're around and usually consent isn't given. and...that's not normally my cup of tea. ofc this isn't always the case, and things are different for everyone!

for me personally, I've always disliked the lack of autonomy given to omegas. like, where are my omegas that are putting these dumb meathead alphas against one other for their affection - like how it would actually go? where are my omegas that are super pissy and aggressive during their heat and will kill the nearest alpha that looks at them too long - like how things could actually go?

anyway, I'm getting off-topic! Omegaverse can go a lot of different ways depending on the author and the setting, and it's a super diverse genre imo. smut usually tends to be the end-all, be-all, so the larger issues either rarely come up or take on the extreme issues without exploring other nuances.

seriously, the amount of female animals in the wild that will straight up maim and/or kill a partner in the wild is too high for us to keep having these weak-hearted omegas 😤😤 I built an entire Omegaverse based on lion dynamics instead of (false) wolf dynamics and the outcome is VERY different from the norm!

I personally don’t think authors who write fem!Luke are inherently harmful or homophobic. I enjoy many of those fanfics, and might write one, who knows! And I don't know that any of the OPs were calling out specific authors, but if they do in other posts that'd definitely not be cool. Writing fanfic is hard and I'm not here to hate on any author for doing something they enjoy and others love. General critique in a fandom does interest me once I get in deep with it, like I have with lucemond, but in the end it’s all fiction!

If anyone's wanting further explanation and an opinion from me on this matter of fem!Luke, buckle in! Lol.

Everyone is allowed to have their own opinion, but I casually read a lot of lucemond so at this point I have a lot of casual OpinionsTM on the pairing lol. Most of which I keep to myself, because we're all just here trying to find things we like, not get nasty about the things we don't.

But yeah, ngl my favorite omega/bottom/fem!Luke fics involve him having some personality beyond being submissive and salivating for Aemond-dick. I'll rec a few: omega!Luke a/b/o paint me in your colours is a great one, modern!au a losing game is getting SO good, and just started a very fem cam!boy Luke fic you can be the boss that's been fun so far!

Also, I admit it, I appreciate when I find fics where he isn’t constantly referred to like he’s a girl in all but pronouns.

There’s nothing wrong with trans characters of course, that can be a great thing to explore—but I think it’s concerning when I open up this tag on ao3 and the “Luke has a pussy” fics are dominating over anything else that's posted, don’t even tag him as trans, and almost always involve him acting very submissive and still looking like a prepubescent boy. And yes, fem!trans men exist, can be subs, and can look young!! Fuck gender roles! But hey, trans men can also look masculine, be doms, and look like adults too, and I have seen zero representation of any of that with Luke. Please somebody point me towards any that I've missed, would love to read!

(Maybe I’ll have to write a one-shot of Luke being trans!masc 🤔 seeing the lack of diversity in the a/b/o tag is what prompted D&S after all 😂)

So after enough of these flooding the ao3 tag, it starts to feel less like trans!rep and more like a trend we could analyze as a fandom whole. After all, if we’re just really cool and shooting for more gender diversity, it should make no less sense to make Aemond trans, you get me? Why are we so hung up on Luke as someone with a vagina?

Again, I don't as a blanket statement agree with the OPs of those posts in saying it's always sexist/homophobic to write Luke this way, or that there's inherent harm, but I did appreciate the discourse especially in the first post that addresses the trend as something to watch out for and think more critically about to avoid perpetuating stereotypes. Nothing wrong with portraying top/bottom and dom/sub couples, but it’s just as common with irl homosexual relationships for that dynamic to switch or even the one who through a 'hereto lens' seems more fem to be the top/dom. When a fandom as a whole is constantly putting a queer ship in gendered boxes (and the feminized one always seems to be very younger/an actual child, like Luke in canon), and also hates on any opposing portrayal, it’s just cause for reflection, ya know?

This ship is already problematic with one being underage and then also being portrayed by an underage actor—honestly when some of the more-nsfw art looks too much like a 12 year old next to an adult Aemond I really squick out—so I’m personally more cautious of how I portray his character just for that reason alone and appreciate when others are too.

Of course, I always stick with the “Don’t like don’t read” mantra of the olden days. Any harm in stereotyping/assigning heterosexual roles to lucemond is SO much less important than real-life stereotyping it's silly, and I’m personally never going to go hate on a story I don’t enjoy, just move on to something I do.

I'm also not going to pretend that I don't enjoy something! I literally just commented on a dead dove fic (derailed by theglitteringdark, the surprise CNC and babytrapping at the end really did it for me haha) with Luke as a trans!femboy because I enjoyed it. If you're looking through my likes, check ao3 too, okay? 😂

Last thing, but I have to add—writing someone unlikely as an omega is fun for me simply because I can then deconstruct the idea of it and, sort of like gender in real life, show that we are more than what is and isn’t between our legs. Idk if you’ve read D&S, but Aemond isn’t exactly a very feminine person in it. And this call-out is such funny timing, I have to spoil—in the very next chapter I'm working on, Aemond (an omega! gasp!) tops Luke! I've alluded to it in many previous chapters so some of you probably aren't surprised, lol.

Peony (Peggysous)

This is a fic I wrote for the first Peggysous Week (back in 2020!!) and I think it was semi-recently after I first watched Endgame and was SO MAD with the scene at the end with Steve and Peggy that I decided to take the chance to write something that still fit with Marvel's new established canon and didn't break up my otp 😂 I'm still super happy with how it turned out, and I think it's a sweet and heartfelt fic that I really enjoyed writing (so thank you for enabling me to lmao)

2. The Undead Scourge (The Originals x Harry Potter)

This I'm pretty sure was born out of a one-off Wattpad comment on a longer story I've written there that's not on Tumblr, something along the lines of "I wonder how the Mikaelsons would react to Rita Skeeter's anti-vampire article" and I decided that was a very fun and funny prompt and made this lol. I still enjoy rereading this one and it feels like such a random crossover but it was super fun to write and at least in my opinion is super fun to read

3. The Dread Pirate Roberts (Westley (Princess Bride) x Reader)

This is one of my newest fics that I wrote for the Year of Themed Creation (it's my March entry) but I just had SO much fun writing it (clearly there's a theme in what makes something a favorite for me lol). I've loved The Princess Bride since I was a kid and Westley was one of my OG childhood crushes, so getting to write a fun story set in that world that includes story-typical epic romance with Westley (especially when there's not a lot of that out there for him) was great, and I think it turned out pretty good too

Going back through all my old works really made me smile (most of the time) while I was doing this positivity boost, so thank you Tori!! It was a really fun challenge, and it made me fall back in love with some of my old writing, which is always a much-needed nice feeling. Its so much better to have a welcoming community as opposed to writing in a void. I love sharing my stuff (even if it is a mortifying ordeal at times) and I love learning stuff about others. When people are nurtured, they create more, they become better at the craft themselves. They're happier. Like, it's all positive. Why would we not want to do that for each other, or not try to help each other grow? Positive interaction in the community here is vital.

As somebody who has horrible anxiety, I think being on this site, in this community, has helped my life greatly. Knowing I can come here, and find friends with similar interests. Talk to people about their passions, and also grow myself. I mean, I look forward to it daily. I've tried to be a bit more open here than I am irl though, so maybe the distance of Tumblr helps in that respect. Although, if somebody knew me irl, it wouldn't be hard to piece together who I am here. I do shudder when that day comes. 😂

If I may add onto the tragic reading from another perspective… 101 makes very clear that she seeks closure about Romain's disappearance in order to heal, finally, because it's driving a wedge between Théa and her. She's doing it for her daughter's sake more than her own (at least imo) because Théa needs her mother more than the father she's never met. And then… All this mess ends in the worst possible way for both of them. She can't possibly lie to her daughter, can she? She resents her own parents for that way too much. Morgane tried so! hard! to make things right but now she'll just have to break Théa's heart on top of her own! She was playing a losing game--she could've stuck to her old ways, been miserable, and hurt Théa in the process; instead she went after the truth, is miserable now and will hurt Théa in the process. Why Perfect is totally about Taylor Swift

Yea I know Louis wrote the song with Harry and that’s exactly why I’m even MORE convinced that it’s about her.

Long story short, the description of Taylor’s physical characteristics minus her gender and how tall she is could practically fit Louis to the T. She is the PERFECT stand-in for a het narrative if Harry ever wants to write about Louis’s eyes, which is always, but I digress.

Meanwhile, Harry has green eyes and tattoos. Liz Huett has green eyes and Dianna Agron has tattoos. My 2 cents on Taylor’s love life speculation:

She loves music and reads a lot. With how much time she always spend practicing and developing the skills of her crafts, she didn’t have that many friends growing up. Like creative kids everywhere, she started making arts through others’ lens. Her life experience as a child is not as dramatic and interesting to write about as a fix-it fic for Romeo and Juliet. Oh yeah, she started writing fan fic in a song.

She knew all she’s ever wanted was to make good music for a living. But that wasn’t a stable career’s path in the eyes of any sensible adults. So of course, her parents supported her but also encouraged her to have a plan B. Thus, the path to future @swiftonsecurity began. Because tinkering on the computer also allowed her to explore more sides of music, two birds in one stone, see?

Taylor was a smart kiddo. She didn’t need to actually go through a breakup to know how much it hurt. Hell, she saw her best friend went through heartbreak cuz somebody else changed their minds and the marriage of her own parents fell apart.

So when it came to choosing between a chance at love and a music career, it wasn’t even a choice for her fourteen-year-old self. It’s MUSIC. Of course, it’s music. A boyfriend, no matter how good they seemed at the start, will eventually break your heart. Stephen and Drew could get a fast track for that in her song. There.

So she jumped into the music industry headfirst, diving right in to the gigs and performing everywhere she got a chance. Basically hustle and put it the work. After signing with label, she quickly learned that “relationship” was part of the job and would help her realize her music career. Ok, cool. It’s not like she was slamming on her guitar to look for true love anyway. If saying she was dating someone when she wrote the song meant more album sales, then tell the story she would.

Then, her debut albums sold. Like they really did. Now, she had a band. For real, her very own The Agency. So cool. Opening the stage for her favorite artists. Best year of her life. And she might have a crush on the fiddle player. Emily. Who’s so cool she’s quitting the band after a year to go study in law school. Taylor would miss her a lot. Like a lot. Cuz this was the first time Taylor was kinda falling in love and it felt safe. almost FEARLESS. But no, actually. She found out that Emily didn’t necessarily want to quit the band. But apparently Taylor had been too obvious about being into Emily that the higher ups in the label suspected that she might be gay. And so they got rid of Emily, so to speak, to keep things from getting out of hands.

Oh wow, that sucks. Taylor was getting the taste of how manipulative the Music Industry Behemoth could potentially be. She turned to music for solace, as always. By herself too, cuz she didn’t know who else she could trust to SPEAK NOW. She made a villainous character out of the shadowy figure controlling things in the background. So it’s not all rainbow and butterflies anymore. But hey! It’s okay. She still have her fans, her friends, and Liz. Gosh. Liz was the awesomest. She could make anything fun, even in the sometime terrible circumstances. Liz made bad days more bearable. It didn’t matter if Taylor had to talk about Joe Jonas, Taylor Lautner, John Mayer, or a thousand other boys to sell the albums. Liz understood what it’s like to WANT TO MAKE IT in the music industry. Liz wanted to make it too. Liz was there make things okay at the end of the day. Liz was also shoved so far into the closet to keep her career by Taylor’s side. Liz got her own PR boyfriend to parade around. Fuck.

Suddenly, this wasn’t so cool anymore. They started fighting all the time. Ugly jealousy reared it’s head in the cruelest way. Taylor didn’t know how to deal with seeing Liz with someone else. Liz threw it all back in her face cuz guess who had had to deal with their significant other’s MULTIPLE PR boytoys. Suddenly, Taylor realized THIS this was what & why Emily NOPED out of there at the first sign of trouble. Music industry is very good at breaking down people and their relationships. Taylor and Liz broke up and oh LIZ HELD GRUDGES LIKE NO OTHERS. Because in her POV? She willingly walked into the closet for Taylor and got dumped for it wtf?? Meanwhile Taylor was just choosing between a) stay with Liz so she could be deliriously happy in-between bouts of absolute misery, b) breakup with Liz so she could start picking the pieces of herself that the music industry had broken her into.

Then Taylor got the news that Emily was getting married. And it hit her like a ton of brick that she could’ve had that with Liz if they could just talk it out and not let the resentment cloud their judgement. But no, there was no way that could’ve happened with Liz due to both of their personalities clashing like fire. It was opposite attracted, passion turned to ashes—burning red.

So Taylor threw herself into making RED. She met Dianna, and sorta maybe moving on from Liz. She wanted to take it slow and made sure that this wasn’t just a rebound. But Liz wasn’t ready to let go. She saw Swiftgron taking off and wouldn’t you know it. Liz, too, saw RED.

And, oh it burned when Taylor saw what PR relationship with her was doing to Harry. And Louis. It was like looking into the mirror and recognizing the SAME HURT. In a blink of an eye, Taylor knew THIS COULD NOT GO ON. This had to end. This MUST END. With her. With Harry. For whoever comes next. Because Liz was on warpath, tearing up Taylor’s heart and screwing up Dianna’s trust. All because Liz was SO FUCKING HURT by the SAME GODDAMN THING.

Harry and Louis had a good thing going so nothing was gonna changed that. Not on Taylor’s watch. Not on Ed fookin Sheeran’s watch. Suddenly, Taylor met this enigma of a British man. So blasé with public perception of him and trust his own music enough to look at label and say “you need me, I don’t need you.” SUDDENLY. SUDDEN-FUCKING-LY. It made sense. No artist = no music = no money for label. The fans are fans of her MUSIC not her label. Suddenly, EVERYTHING HAS CHANGED.

And Taylor was, all at once, at her most powerful and vulnerable. Everything else but her career was falling apart. Dianna proposed, Taylor wasn’t ready. Liz showing up in their life again meant Dianna thought there was another reason Taylor said no to her proposal. Who was Liz to dissuade her otherwise. Taylor broke her heart and now someone else broke Taylor’s. All’s fair in love and war, isn’t it? But my goodness, Liz was not a monster. It’s just that. Hurt people hurts people. Taylor knew that and understood that. CUE Louis just being like NO. NO. ABSOLUTELY NOT. “You said so yourself—we are never ever ever getting back together. Like ever. NO.” And proceeded to write DIANA. Because Taylor is not the only protective one in this chosen family goddamnit. So Taylor sent back STYLE to basically explain that if it was HARRY LOUIS wouldn’t say the same. And Harry was like HOLD UP, you cheated on Dianna with Liz? Wtf? I though Dianna was mad at me? And Taylor was like. NO! WTF is wrong with you. Me & Di already broke up and it’s frankly none of your business whether me and Liz get back together or not. (She wasn’t getting back together with Liz but these boys were pissing her off so Taylor felt zero ounce of guilt as she dragged Harry’s and his accented drawl on stage at the AMA)

Cue Ed’s Photogragh cuz the siblings are bickering like smol children for the world to see. And they all actually talked it out like adults for once. Taylor was healing emotionally while she making 1989 and hanging out with Karlie who showed up right when everything was quite fine and dandy on the outside and absolute dumpster fire on the inside.

Because other than dealing with Liz-Dianna nonexistent love triangle drama, Taylor was bestowed another heartbreak as she learned more and more about the horrific nature of her contracts. And not just her own, every other artists’s too. So it’s taking a lot of plotting and planning for her to figure out how to escape Big Machine and by extension Scooter. Karlie knew she was threading on thin water, walking a fine line, balancing on a tightrope when her girlfriend and boss would soon be going toe-to-toe. And Taylor was terrified of if Karlie decided that the closeting was too much. Also, the exes gossip? Not only were the hetero ones still on paper, the Liz & Dianna one was still fanning the flame. Like if Louis & Harry of all people thought that of her, then who else wouldn’t?

Well, Louis and Harry = stubborn little shits but they weren’t actual dickheads. So they wrote a song to convince her that YES TRYING WITH KARLIE IS A GOOD IDEA. PERFECT.

Because Karlie Kloss knew what she was getting herself into right from the get-go. There wasn’t gonna be a surprise intervention, closeting, exes who could show up and screw up everything. HONESTY IS THE KEY.

And so it went. Taylor and Karlie against the world. “I tried to pick my battle til the battle picked me.” After 1989, it was the end of the line for Taylor and Big Machine. The old contract was set to expired soon and Taylor needed to choose her next career move.

And while negotiations could’ve been where she was headed, what happened to Louis and Harry absolutely changed her mind. Louis signed another contract with Syco and it dragged Louis’s reputation through mud with babygate. So Taylor knew then, beyond the shadow of the doubt, that no label was truly on the artist’s side. At the end of the day, she was on her own.

But not really, she had her Swifties. When she began her reputation era, Taylor finally realized that she COULD be anywhere/do anything regardless of label and pubic perception of her. In fact, any label would be lucky to have her. Just like Ed said before, “You need me, I don’t need you.”

So, now Taylor knows what the labels have on artists are built on a house of cards. And it’s ALL LIES.

While she can’t directly call out or contradict the liars on her own behalf, she can and do call out the blatant abuse on others—starting with her prologue letter for reputation “as if inspiration for music is as simple and basic as a paternity test.”

Despite the pain they inflicted on each other, Liz taught Taylor how to go on a warpath. Dianna taught her how to be brave even when it hurt like hell. Emily taught her when to run.

Karlie runs with her. If other girls, like Lily and co, join their marathon every once in a while, well it’s the choice they made together and frankly? Good for them, sharing the love and all.

And oh, I forgot to mention practically all the boys she “dated” after Harry, because at that point “dating Taylor Swift” had become synonymous with “coming out as gay in a subtle way” in my mind, so.

My #1 post of 2022

After hearing ‘Nothing New’, I’m more convinced that ever that Taylor wrote Wonderland in 1989 about her own relationship in comparison to that of Harry Styles and how the music industry kinda broke them both.

Cuz “I felt your arms twisted around me” is nothing short of forced and painful.

When 1D exploded to stardom, Harry Styles WAS “the kind of radiance you only have at seventeen” and Taylor Swift had been in the business for half a decade at that point. “How did I go from growing up to breaking down?”

Then: “How can a person knows everything at 18 but nothing at 22?”

For Harry, Louis made damn sure he knew “I have loved you since we were 18.”

Meanwhile, Taylor had been dealing with one heartbreak after another like Emily Poe getting married “so casually cruel in the name of being honest”, Liz Huett leaving “fuck-the-patriarchy keychain on the ground”, Emma Stone “some actress asking me what happened” before she met Dianna Agron, at which point her insecurities had reached the point of “would you still want me when I’m nothing new?”

Then: “I knew I had to go back home.”

This is what hurt the most, I think. Because HOME for Harry has always been LOUIS “When you’re lost, I’ll find the way I’ll be your light.” But Taylor didn’t have that and Dianna literally had the inspiration for WONDERLAND tattooed on her waist, as if to say “it’s me, for you. I could stay.” But well, that tattoo didn’t stay either.

Though this Swift bird tattoo stays and fookin reminded her of Fearless:

“Tell me do you still remember feeling young, strong enough to get it wrong in front of all these people.”

To which Taylor responded: “sometimes giving up is the strong thing. Sometimes to run is the brave thing.”

Which led me straight gay to Kaylor’s Big Sur “you don’t have to save me but would you run away with me? YES”

Lake + Stick + Fever

Since I did 4 and 11 in the previous ask, I'll got for 13 for Lake + Stick + Fever here and let me assure you, it's going to be a very disappointing answer.

13: What music did you listen to, if any, to get in the mood for writing this story? Or if you didn’t listen to anything, what do you think readers should listen to to accompany us while reading?

I may or may not have listened to the radio while writing some parts of it. I often prefer quiet, but if it's Saturday and my kids are at my ex's house and i'm feeling lonely or just low-energy, I'll turn on the radio. So if I'm listening to music it's definitely more for my energy levels than to get into the mood of the story. But I have.... like, no earthly clue what I'd recomend while reading. 😂

4: Favorite line of dialogue

I'm going to boldly choose this entire exchange from Indiana Jones + Bozer (I'm not sure it makes sense in a smaller block):

Bozer pauses his elbow-jiggling. “Well, it hadn’t moved in centuries before this. Mac said so.” He groans when he feels something on his ankle again. “Look, I know it was stupid, but somebody had to do it and you weren’t here.”

“Hardy har har, Dr. Jones,” Jack says. “I’m takin’ back what I was thinkin' about buying you a fedora now.”

11: What I like best about

I'm interpreting this one as a favorite thing. :) And this one is REALLY TOUGH because I really like several of my writeablong stories. I love "Part of the Team" because I really enjoyed writing about Riley struggling as an early field agent; and I amused myself with Mac's improvising in like "Snakes + Socks = Bad Idea" (which I swear I'm going to add more to, I AM); but my single favorite thing is probably Duct Tape + Hospitals. I surprised myself with it, I love how it worked out, it's about the right length, and it's a whole story in itself. And it even has a happyish ending!
