I just saw ur angsty post on what if readers family came looking for them and I’m so sad now… TIME FOR SOME HAPPY IDEAS TO COPE
So if reader actually tried to reconnect with their lost family the dimitrescus would meet their family too yk.. and I can just imagine the dimitrescus panicking so much about their mother because they’d want to make a good impression on her 😭😭😭 all of them just being a nervous wreck trying to get on reader’s mother’s good side- and if reader had a little sibling, I’d imagine them (probably cass and Dani) playing with them. I’d bet they tried to find embarrassing stories on reader when they were young to fuck with them later on
PLEASEEE BAHAHAHA I LOVE THIS-
you know it would be an absolute “disaster” if they met Reader’s mother- the former of which would be like “🤨⁉️” when they see these noble, refined murderers NERVOUS to meet their mother
Alcina claims she’s not nervous at all and is actually very excited to meet their mother, but she’s had three glasses of wine at that point, so…
Bela probably has some blood dripping from the corner of her lip and she’s just “:)” while their mother is “😨” (she’s offended and doesn’t understand why their mother doesn’t accept her offer to help her with her jacket 😒)
Cassandra was actually the calmest one, up until the point she was 100% showing off her muscles both to Reader and their little sibling (mostly to Reader) and accidentally revealed the very large sickle at her waist. panic ensues. oops
Daniela was also fine, but she just couldn’t stop her flies from buzzing around her form out of excitement. she gets to meet her love’s family!!! she’s so happy!!!! and her bugs won’t stop biting people!!!!!!
but Reader’s little sibling would 100% snitch on them about things they would do pre-Miranda and both Cass and Dani are saving it for ammunition to prank them later

Going back to Zag's romantic relationships from Mel is extremely hilarious to me because of how comparatively well-adjusted he was.
Sure he done fucked up with Meg in the past and they had to kill each other as part of the job description, his sudden leaving seriously hurt Than while also having communication issues w/ each other, and there's the matter of Dusa being a lowly servant of the House. But in the end, he sorted everything out with 0 grievances from all parties involved (that one dialogue where Than admits Meg is the one who tells him to finally pursue Zag seriously warms my heart). Got the Mom(s) Seal of Approval™ even, and from Achilles too!
Meanwhile I look at Melinoë and she has a frankly criminal amount of situationships. Her rizz level is insane and she goes straight for the throat when flirting yet somehow her dating life is simultaneously a mess and nonexistent. Nemesis regularly kicks her into the dirt verbally AND physically but is the only person to acknowledge how fucked up it is that Mel is sent out alone in the hopes of killing an all powerful Titan that took SIX gods to kill in the past. "Fuck you and fuck your stupid frog in particular" then turns around and gives free Death Defiances. Her and Moros try to flirt with each other but they kept missing the mark because sometimes one of them says something totally unhinged like it was normal (I don't think watching people die is an appropriate bathtime conversation topic, my man). Her and Eris are a hot mess—literally with all those rounds she shot at Mel AND without a basis of workplace professionalism. Icarus is one shot nerve away from accidentally proclaiming his undying (literally) love to her but his guilt complex is hanging on to that nerve. And then there's Arachne and her not so little crush warring with the fact that said crush is family with and is helping the gods who cursed her.
Never have I realized how important it is that Zag has become a minor god of relationship counselling until I look at his baby sister and think, "yeah girl you definitely need help for all that shit".

im bored so y’all are getting some hazbin hcs
Alastor is aroace and agender but he does not know it he has no clue what ANY of those words mean
Rosie actually knows that Alastor is all of those but to fuck with him she doesn’t tell him however she will from time to time call him one of those (for example when she says she knows Alastor is an ace in the hole)
Alastor and Rosie are in a qpr!
Velvette and Vox are besties they will gossip about everyone and everything
Velvette is a non-binary lesbian who uses she/her
EVERYONE in hell assume that the vees are a polycule and for the chaos they never correct anyone
Velvette barely tolerates Valentino and would like to beat the shit out of him at any given time
Ok I have to restrain myself with Velvette so last one even though Vox has beef with Alastor to everyone’s shock she hangs out with him every once and a while over some tea
Lute is aroace but she and Adam are « dating » bc people kept asking Lute out would never take no for an answer and it was making her uncomfortable
Despite everything Adam does care for Lute and is a good friend towards her hence why he agreed to the fake dating plan
Vaggie before getting her wings back would get HORRIBLE phantom pain from them and whenever Charlie would ask what was up she would always dodge the questions and Charlie wanting to respect her gfs boundaries wouldn’t push to much
Vaggies love language is acts of service and Charlie’s is physical touch
Charlie ADORES Vaggies wings she thinks they make her gf even more gorgeous then she already is
Vaggie is actually insecure of her wings as they remind her of a past she’s rather forget but Charlie fawning over them does make her like her wings a bit more
If Charlie is cold Vaggie will use her wings to make her warmer
After the battle against the exorcist Vaggie went back to thank Carmilla for her help and the two got to talking and ended bonding now they meet weekly at Carmillas to practice battle together (the both enjoy it greatly) and sometimes it leads to Vaggie staying for dinner
Carmilla Carmine is essentially Vaggies mom/mentor
Vaggie bonded with Carmillas daughters and they see eachother as sisters
Charlie will sometimes head over to cannibal town to give Rosie a visit and she now calls Rosie Auntie all the time
Vaggie brought Charlie to meet Carmilla and Charlie brought Vaggie to meet Rosie (both were super nervous to meet each others respective mom/aunt figure worried they wouldn’t approve)
Husk and Cherri used to hate eachother but after Angel forced them to hang out they grew to like eachother in a I hate u and hope u die/affectionate type of way
Angel does Cherris hair and I will not elaborate
Angel can’t cook for shit and almost set the hotel on fire many times (he’s now banned from the kitchen)
Vaggie however is a great chef!
Husk taught all the members of the hotel who didn’t already know how to play poker, poker
The hotel guests now have game night which is usually the entire cast struggling while Alastor, Husk and Vaggie sweep and have a rivalry between themselves the others are trying tho!
Alastor also taught the residents chess
Nifty eats the pieces
Im not elaborating on that last one
Vaggie and Angel actually like one another (PLATONICALLY) even considering one another one of their closest friends but neither would ever admit it out loud
Alright now that that's said Angel and Vaggie have mini cooking lessons in secret (WITHOUT ANY FIRE for safety reasons ofc) so Angel can make food for his friends
Lucifer and Vaggie actually bonded a lot especially given both are fallen angels
When Lucifer found out why Vaggie was cast out and how Vaggie had to physically restrain him from (somehow don’t question how he'd even be able to get to heaven to do it) beating the shit out of Lute
Shickingly Lucifer, nifty and Husk are friends and hang out
in fact Lucifer knew Husk before the hotel and had already grown fond of him
Sir Pentious and Charlie are besties
Charlie was the first person who Sir Pentious actually told he liked Cherri (the others still knew but like he actually told Charlie)
Sir Pentious makes Alastor babysit the egg bois after the outing he had with them a while back
Sir Pentious does like Emily but she kinda makes him sad as she reminds him so much of Charlie and he cant see her anymore given she's currently in hell
Razzle was always super attached to Charlie but Dazzle wierdly enough got super attached to Vaggie making her even angrier with Lute when she killed him
Imma end the hcs here cause this is already a shit tone lol

It is a truth universally acknowledged that the West Wing would have been even better if they'd had a White House cat. Some headcanons bc I was thinking about it today:
Jed gave the cat a very grand, biblical name. Everyone else has shortened it to something very stupid.
Obviously all of the press and the public adore the cat. There's a minor upset in a polling themed episode when Joey confirms that once again the cat has higher approval ratings than the president. Josh is cross that they are polling on this at all.
There is one chair in the Oval Office that is The Cat's Chair. The staff know not to sit there as you'll get a. covered in fur and b. screamed at by an irate cat trying to force you off. They never warn any of their least favourite congresspeople about this.
The cat wanders around in the background of episodes, often being chased or petted by the extras.
The cat is not allowed in the situation room. The cat is always in the situation room. They had to come up with a special bug detecting protocol for the cat in case anyone tried to take advantage of this.
Ripped from the headlines plot about a congressional investigation into something related to the cat, based on the incident about Clinton's cat's postage.
The cat LOVES Air Force One. The Secret Service do not love having to get him on board or captured to get back off.
Leo and the cat are best friends. They're basically this meme. Leo's the grandma. Jed is the mom.
Tumblr media
Aside from Leo, the cat loves the secretaries best. They always have lots of treats for him in their desks. Debbie is the only one he doesn't get on with; she has resorted to using a plant mister to spray him when he tries to get on her desk.
Josh thinks he and the cat are archenemies. The cat hasn't paid more than 2 seconds notice to Josh in his life.
CJ and the cat are archenemies. CJ was very pro-cat until she caught it fishing in Gail's bowl one day. Now she's at war to keep it out of her office. She's still trying to convince Danny to write a piece exposing the cat's dark side to its adoring public. Carol is very tired.
Sam wants so badly to be best friends with the cat. The cat thinks he's trying too hard. Will ends up exactly the same way.
Toby and the cat have never properly interacted and both are very happy to leave it that way.
The cat is supposed to stay in the residence during big events. Abbey stopped enforcing that after he got out and scratched Lord John Marbury when he picked him up against his will.
The cat has a secret service code name. One time, the code names are changed and an overenthusiatic reporter tries to break a story on the first lady's 'unusual activity' by following what he thinks is her code name. It's the cat's. CJ dines out on this for weeks.
The cat occasionally goes missing. The secretaries and Charlie have a recurring B-plot where they have to go and recover him. Somehow, the cat has always ended up somewhere relevant to the A-plot.
The cat properly goes missing after the incidents with the Thanksgiving turkeys and the goat in CJ's office (aka prime cat territory). Each time she claims she'll be nicer to the cat when it returns. Each time it lasts about two days.
Margaret thinks the cat has psychic powers and frequently provides warnings based on her interpretations of 'the signs'. Usually she's right.
The cat somehow makes off with the final edits for the state of the union one time (of course they were only handwritten on one piece of paper). Chaos ensues.
Jed tries to send the cat to Manchester partway through the series. After large-scale outcry from the staff, press and public he is returned to the White House. Unfortunately, after a couple of months as a barn cat he is even more badly behaved than before.
The cat is in both Jed and Abbey's official portraits.

“Hey,” Chad said softly, poking his head into the room, offering Tara a kind smile. He pushed open the door the rest of the way to reveal the others, Mindy, Amber, and Wes trailing in behind him.
You internally grimaced at the sight of them. You knew they were Tara’s friends and they cared about her. That was all that mattered at the end of the day, it was just, you knew they weren’t your biggest fan. You were only a few years older than them, but they all thought Tara could do better. Out of all her friends though you liked Chad the most. Chad might not have fully approved of your relationship with Tara, but he never seemed to complain about you or was bothered by your presence like some of the others.
Chad gave you a nod as he walked over to Tara. “Liv’s sorry she couldn’t make it,” he said, giving her hand a small squeeze. Tara gave him a grateful smile before moving away, allowing the others to say their hellos, throwing himself in one of the chairs in the other corner of the room.
Mindy rolled her eyes at her brother, she did the same, walking over to Tara and giving her shoulder a comforting rub. Amber ignored your presence as she made her way to the other side of Tara’s bed, reaching for her uninjured hand, holding it as she asked if Tara was okay.
“Is it true Ghostface attacked you?” Wes said, coming up behind Amber. You flicked Wes a glare, ready to toss him out of the room yourself but Amber smacked him upside the head. “Sorry,” he mumbled, rubbing the back of his head.
“I’m just glad you’re okay,” Wes whispered, smiling at Tara. You knew Wes had a crush on Tara, but you couldn’t be too mad, he was sweet, and you knew you had nothing to worry about.
“We all are,” Amber added.
“Thanks,” Tara whispered, smiling up at her friends. “And thanks for coming.”
The room got quiet after that, no one knew what to say. They all clearly cared about Tara and came as soon as she texted, but they clearly had questions. You had all grown up in Woodsboro, of course you all knew the story of Sidney Prescott and Ghostface. You were older than the others, so you remembered hearing about the 2011 attacks, you remembered parents being afraid to send their kids to school. The others probably wouldn’t remember it as much, they were only seven or eight. Tara might have some memory of it, she would have been almost nine and her sister was a freshman at the time, if you remembered correctly.
“Just ask,” Tara finally sighed.
Wes quickly opened his mouth, but nothing came out, his eyes remained on the floor. You glanced around seeing Chad and Mindy also had their eyes glued to the floor. The only one not looking at the floor was Amber; she was staring daggers right at you. You tilted her head, staring right back, you were ready for whenever she decided to open her mouth, point out how this was all your fault somehow.
“I heard my mom leave last night,” Wes spoke softly, being the first to break the silence. “She rushed out of the house so fast, all I caught was your address.” Wes finally looked up at Tara, tears in his eyes. “I waited up all night until she got home early this morning.”
“He kept messaging us,” Mindy said. “Saying something happened and wanting to know if we knew.”
“The incessant texting finally woke me up,” Chad said, letting out a humorless chuckle. “I didn’t wait before I was barging into Mindy’s room.”
“We refused to go to school until we got word you were okay,” Amber said, smiling softly when she focused her attention back on Tara. “How are you feeling?”
“The meds definitely help,” Tara chuckled, but you could see the pain in her eyes, and she kept having to shift positions to get comfortable.
“Was…” Wes opened and closed his mouth a few times, you could see him debating the right way to ask whatever it is he wanted to ask. “Was it really Ghostface?”
The entire room got quite, or more quiet, if that was even possible. You rested a hand on her shoulder when you noticed her eyes tremble slightly. She looked over at you, you could see the fear that now seemed to be ever-present in her eyes. You gave her a comforting smile; you were right there and weren’t going anywhere. If she wanted to tell her friends what happened you would support her, if she didn’t want to talk about it, you’d kick them all out yourself.
“Yes,” Tara said whispered.
It was almost like there was a temperature shift in the room, the way everything seemed to get so much colder. Wes straightened his back, taking a barely noticeable step back. Wes already knew it was Ghostface, that’s why he asked, he overheard Judy on the phone or something, getting confirmation from Tara that it was Ghostface was another thing entirely. Chad’s entire body went rigid, he looked like a statue sitting in the hospital chair, his hands folded as his head rested-on top of them. Mindy was in a similar position; her hands were folded together as she stared down at the floor. The only parts of her that moved were her eyes, darting back and forth as her mind most likely replayed everything, she knew about Ghostface, the Stab movies, and who knew what else.
Amber had the least reaction out of all of them, almost no reaction at all. You narrowed your eyes slightly. Amber kept her hand in Tara’s, her eyes cast down to the floor. She placed her other hand on Tara’s shoulder, giving it a comforting rub. Maybe it was your paranoia getting to you but to you it almost seemed like Amber wasn’t surprised by the fact that Ghostface was back and that he attacked Tara.
You still couldn’t wrap your head around that, you couldn’t figure out why he would attack Tara. Judy said there was no logic to these things but that wasn’t fully true. The reasons behind Ghostface killings were always debatable, sometimes no logic at all, but the attacks themselves always made sense, for the most part. Everything always went back to Sidney Prescott.
Over the years, there was always a group of kids that would think it would be funny to make a call to an unsuspecting classmate, using the Ghostface voice changer to scare them. The prank calls never ended in murder though, not in Woodsboro. You had seen a few reports on TV or pop up online talking about a Ghostface attack, but it was never real news, it never involved Sidney, it always ended up being some crazed fan trying to take over the mantle and kill a friend or some random person. Those instances always ended the same though, with the wannabe serial killer behind bars within a day. This was different though, you knew that. The attack on Tara was deliberate, you just didn’t know how or why.
You guessed, when you thought hard enough about it, Tara was sort of connected to those involved in previous attacks. A connection was a stretch though, you would barely call it a connection. Mindy and Chad’s uncle was Randy Meeks, who was involved in the first killings and then was killed in the second-round while at college. Wes was Judy’s son, and she was sort of involved in the 2011 killings, she was just a cop at the time, but she was part of the investigation. They were the most connected to anyone from previous killings, but Tara wasn’t at all, it didn’t make sense for her to be attacked first. It also didn’t make sense for her to be alive, you never heard of Ghostface allowing one of his victims, his first victim, to get away, you weren’t ready to go down that rabbit hole though.
“And where were you?” Amber asked, disrupting your thoughts. You glanced up to see her arms crossed, raising an eyebrow at you.
You could almost laugh at the fact that she suspected you, as if you’d ever hurt Tara. “Work,” you said.
Amber scoffed. That got you clenching your jaw, you didn’t like the fact that she didn’t seem to believe you or was trying to get the others to doubt your answer. “You got something to say?” you asked, glaring at Amber.
“No,” she said innocently, holding up her hands in surrender. “I just think it’s interesting that the one night you’re not with Tara, she gets attacked,” she shrugged her shoulder nonchalantly.
“What the hell is that supposed to mean?” You shot up from your seat, the chair scraping against the white tile from the force.
“You’re always at her place,” she stepped forward, raising an eyebrow as she continued to accuse you. “How would the attacker know she was alone? How did they even get into the house?”
You unclenched your jaw, shaking your head, as you let out a humorless chuckle. “Enough,” Tara interrupted before you could say anything. “Y/N didn’t do this.” She had that determined look in her eye as she looked up at Amber. “I talked to her while she was at work.”
“She could have left early,” Mindy mumbled.
Your head snapped to where Mindy sat, sending her a glare instead of Amber. You got it, they didn’t like you, but to think you would ever hurt Tara was ridiculous. “I trust her!” Tara snapped. Her hands shaking as she lightly gasped for breath.
“Hey,” you said softly, your tone doing a complete one-eighty from how it was just a second ago. “Easy.” You crouched down next to her and handed her her inhaler as you gently rubbed her shoulder.
Tara took a puff of her inhaler, letting out a shaky breath as she calmed back down. “Thank you,” she mumbled. You let out a sigh of relief at seeing her okay.
Before anyone else could say anything or start anymore fighting Tara’s phone started to ring. You looked around before finding the phone on the table beside her bed. You grabbed her phone with the intent to hand it to her when you paused at the sight of the name across the screen.
“Who is it?” Tara asked. You looked up to see her eyes unblinking as she stared at the phone, her hand began to lightly tremble. You handed it to her and silently sat beside her as she answered. “Mom?”
You couldn’t help but wonder if maybe a call from Ghostface would have been better. You watched Tara’s expression as she talked to her mother, ready to be right there if the conversation started to go in a direction you didn’t like. Amber rolled her eyes and moved across the room to lean against the wall furthest from Tara. She shook her head as Tara continued talking to her mom. The one thing you and Amber agreed on was that Christina Carpenter was not a good mother, she never did anything for Tara out of the kindness of her heart. You were actually surprised she managed to call her daughter, you figured she was off in some other country drinking all her problems away.
“Oh, okay,” Tara’s disappointed voice cut through your thoughts. “No, it’s fine. Y/N, Amber, and the others are here.” She nodded at whatever her mom was saying. “Yeah, lo-” the words died in her throat, her mouth still partly open.
You reached across her body, gently pulling the phone out of her hand. You clenched your jaw when you saw her blinking away the tears that had quickly begun to fill her eyes. The next time you saw Christina, you didn’t even care if it were a year from now, the next time you saw her, she would feel your wrath.
“She’s not coming?” Amber’s voice cut through the quiet. You held in a sigh as you glared at her, you might have shared her opinions on Christina, but you didn’t feel the need to force Tara to talk about it.
“She’s not in town anyway,” Tara said, shaking her head. “Her work is really important.” She smiled at all of you but only Chad was able to offer her a sad smile in return.
“More important than her daughter?”
“Do you ever shut the fuck up?” you snapped, crossing your arms as you glared at Amber.
“Enough!” Wes snapped just as Amber opened her mouth.
Everyone in the room jumped at Wes’s outburst. Wes was usually the calm one, the one that always tried to find a peaceful solution, even if he disagreed with the argument. You all dropped your heads and went back to your respective corners. You slumped back down in your seat by Tara’s bedside and Amber walked over, pushing Wes out of the way to take her place on the other side of Tara once again.
You scrolled through your phone as the others talked. Occasionally you would glance at each of Tara’s friends. All of them were acting normal, they were joking around, they were all clearly worried about Tara, but one of them could have been the one to attack her. You couldn’t imagine any of them as someone wanting to dress up like Ghostface and go around trying to kill people. That didn’t mean you could trust any of them though, Tara said someone turned off her alarm, maybe Ghostface hacked her system, or, the easier scenario, therefore more likely, was that whoever Ghostface was knew her alarm code, the only people outside of Tara and her mom who knew her alarm code was you and her friends.
You tensed, your eyes snapping to the door when you heard it begin to creak open. You sucked in a breath when you saw Sam, Tara’s sister, walk in, followed by some guy right behind her. Everyone else had a similar reaction, their conversation pausing mid-sentence as all their mouths dropped open, each of them standing up from their seats, Chad even folded his arms in front of him.
Sam froze for half a second, looking at all the eyes on her. She quickly got over whatever was going through her head and was at Tara’s side in a second, crouching down next to her. “How are you feeling?” Sam asked. It might have been five years, but you definitely didn’t miss the relief in Sam’s eyes and in her voice at seeing her sister alive.
“You came,” Tara said, sounding in disbelief. You couldn’t blame Tara for being shocked, to say the least.
Sam took off without so much as a goodbye five years ago and was never heard from again. You hadn’t met Tara yet when Sam left and you only sort of casually knew Sam from school, you had been a freshman when she was a senior, the two of you crossed paths, you both had been troublemakers. You recognized Tara’s last name when she had introduced herself when she happened to be in one of your classes a few years later. She had almost shut down when you asked if she was related to Sam, but you quickly changed the subject and just talked to her about the class. After a few months of being friends she had opened up about Sam and even five years later you still heard Tara mention her. Sam stopped responding to calls and texts, she even deleted all her social media, she was a ghost, but Tara still hoped one day her big sister would come back.
“Of course I came,” Sam said. She looked a little hurt that Tara would even ask that. “This is my boyfriend Richie,” she turned, introducing the guy who entered the room with her.
“It’s so nice to meet you,” Richie said, leaning down to greet Tara. “I’m sorry if I’m intruding.”
While Tara greeted Richie, Sam made the rounds, hugging Mindy, Chad, and Wes. “These are Chad and Mindy, the twins, and Wes, I used to babysit them,” Sam introduced them to Richie. “And Amber, hey,” Sam shifted nervously.
“Hey,” Amber greeted coldly, giving a tight-lipped smile.
“Hi-Hi, I’m Richie,” Richie introduced himself, mostly to Amber. You scrunched your eyebrows, maybe he was just awkward around so many new people, but you were going to keep an eye on him.
“And Y/N,” Sam said, trailing off as her eyes landed on you. It seemed this was the first time since entering that she truly noticed you. “I didn’t know you two knew each other,” she gestured between you and Tara.
“Oh, they more than know each other,” Amber mumbled but everyone in the room had heard it.
You could see Sam’s body physically tense at the implication from Amber, she gave an uncomfortable smile towards Tara but didn’t say anything. You were sure when she got you alone you were certainly going to be hearing judgement from Sam, she probably agreed with the rest of the friend group, you weren’t any good for Tara and she could do better.
“Hey,” Richie greeted, holding his hand up in an awkward wave, either he didn’t know how to read the room, or he was failing at breaking the tension.
“Hi,” you said, giving him a small nod. Your greeting might have been even colder than Ambers, not that you really cared about that.
“Where’s mom?” Sam asked. You held in your eyeroll, that truly was the question. Tara’s sister who has been gone, without a word for five years, could come back to town after she’s been attacked by a psycho, but their own mother could barely be bothered to call Tara.
“She’s stuck at a conference in London,” Tara answered. “She called.”
“Yeah, for all of ten minutes,” Amber mumbled. You held in a sigh; she really didn’t know when to shut up sometimes. “Look, Tara’s really tired, maybe we should just give her some space.” It wasn’t posed as a question as Amber glanced around the room at the others who quickly nodded in agreement.
“Not you Sam,” Tara said when Sam began to follow the others out the door. “I want you to stay.”
Sam quickly nodded, unable to keep the small smile off her face. You watched Sam carefully, you had nothing against Sam, but you knew what her leaving did to Tara, you just didn’t want Sam to give Tara false hope if she was just going to take off again.
“If it’s okay with you,” Sam said hesitantly. “I could sleep here tonight.”
“I’d really like that,” Tara smiled up at her sister.
“Are you going to be, okay?” Amber asked in a caring tone as she leaned closer to Tara.
“Yeah,” Tara nodded.
“Don’t worry,” you said. “I won’t leave her side,” you smirked at Amber.
Amber lifted her head, glaring at you. “Cause you did such a good job protecting her last time?” Amber snarked.
Your smirk fell, you ignored the way Sam’s eyes landed on you after Amber’s words. You stood up from your chair, stepping face to face with Amber across the hospital bed. “As long as I’m standing,” you said, your tone dangerous. “No one is laying a hand on her.”
You and Amber continued to glare at each other, each of you waiting for the other to break. “Seriously,” Tara said, interrupting the stare down. “I’m fine. I have,” she raised her good arm gesturing around the room, mostly at you and Sam. “Enough protection.” Amber didn’t seem thrilled with Tara’s answer, but she left the room anyway.
“Do you want me to give you two a minute?” you asked softly. You didn’t want to leave Tara’s side but if she wanted time with her sister then you’d happily step out into the hall.
Tara nodded. “Okay,” you whispered. You leaned down giving Tara a long kiss on her forehead, ignoring the way Sam’s eyes never left you.
“You’re not leaving, right?” Tara asked when you got to the door, her voice shaking.
“I’ll be right outside this door,” you pointed at the door. You gave her an encouraging smile as you slipped out the door. The last thing you saw was Sam sitting down at Tara’s bedside and the last thing you heard was Tara beginning to silently cry to Sam.

broken hearted | luke castellan.
first time writing for luke, so hope this is okay! tell me what u think in the reblogs i would love to know and get more luke asks!
summary: the curse of cabin 10 makes aphrodite!reader pretend to date her best friend so she doesn't have to cause a heartbreak to her actual crush. even though, at the end of it, she's the only one who had her heart broken. major inspo from this concept.
"You're staring." y/n' best friend, luke castellan, head counselor of the hermes cabin, pointed the fact out, side eying the girl right at his side, after looking at the boy sword training in front of them.
"he's staring back." the aphrodite girl said with a grin. the sunlight bathing her head making it comfortingly warm. luke would know, since he was the one caressing it while she laid down next to him. both of them on the grass, enjoying the late afternoon at camp. "so..."
michael dawson, ares' kid, was, in fact, staring. luke couldn't blame him, the way his best friend looked made everyone pay attention to her. she didn't even had to try. and still, the swordfighting happening in front of them made luke even more sure that mike needed a way so she could notice him. not naturally, but somehow, it worked, since the girl payed attention to him as soon as he started.
"oh well, like mother like daughter, huh. " he continued, in a mocking tone, holding his laugh, raising himself by his elbows, before taking one of his hands to the girl's arm. "your siblings wouldn't be too happy to see the goody two shoes dating an ares' kid, would they?"
"gods, don't fucking say that." she giggled, hiding her face with both of her hands. she went quiet for a second, still staring at the boy. "ares' kid or not.." y/n sighed, pouting slightly. "mike's nicer than the others, he wouldn't deserve to be a guinea pig."
"what do you mean?"
"you know what i have to do.” the girl muttered, with a soft sigh. she couldn't blame her mother, she worshipped aphrodite; her beauty, her power, her knowledge and her actions. that didn't mean that she enjoyed the judgment. the need to make someone else feel miserable just because she could. it wasn't fair. "the first love heart break thing."
"i'm glad i'm not in his shoes, that's for sure." the boy whispered, with a chuckle, still trying to be as quiet as possible. his thumb caressing her arm incessantly. it made her skin burn. in a second, y/n abruptly raised her chin, getting supported by her elbows, getting muffled groan from luke, once it hit his ribs. "what is it?"
"you could be!"
"am i your first love, daisy?" he raised one of his eyebrows, with a mischievous grin stamped on the boys face. the scar in his eye making itself more clear. "you should have told me sooner- ouch!"
"shut up, hero. listen to me!" he knew that tone. and as anyone else who had a single bit of sense, he kept quiet, wanting nothing more to hear her insane idea. "we could pretend to be boyfriend and girlfriend." the smile on her delicate face kept getting bigger as she explained her brilliant - yet not completely effective - idea. "i could pretend to break your heart. no one gets hurt, i can stay with mike after is over, and my mom ends up being proud of me!"
the aphrodite girl stared at him expectedly, hoping he would buy her insane plan, hoping he could save her from doing something he never imagined her doing it. luke got quiet for a minute. his eyes were darker than usual. he couldn't stand that. y/n knew her best friend well enough to know that he meant to say something. he never truly did. "you shouldn't be looking for her approval."
"i'm not searching for approval i'm just trying to prove myself.."
"you don't have to prove your devotion to her by doing this." his tone stern, more quiet. colder. "you burn offerings for her every single day. you pray, you're always expressing how incredible she is."
"you don't have to do it if you don't want to."
and suddenly, the idea seemed more appealing than ever. she wasn't using her charmspeak on him. no, luke knew how sugary and sweet y/n's words could be when she wanted to. at that moment, his best friend was just being honest. and even though he could retribute that feeling, luke felt that he needed to do it. just for her.
"yeah," he nodded. defeated. "fine, i'll do it."
"really?" the girl hugged him tight. more excited than ever. "thank you boyfriend!"
"yeah, yeah." he grinned, letting her rest her head on his chest, carefully watching y/n closing her eyes, like nothing else would ever bother her. "just don't be too mean when you dump me."
pretending was easy.
they've always been stuck to each other. having dinner with each other. burning offerings with each other. planning capture the flag with each other. training, swimming, talking, sneaking out to parties. always with one right after the other.
it wasn't supposed to be different, they just had to make it more believable.
"we should be holding hands," y/n pointed out as the couple walked calmly to the main area, where dinner was starting. "silena asked me why we never hold hands if we're dating, so i thought we could make it more..."
"real, yeah." luke nodded, grabbing her hand right the next second she spoke. "c'mon, girlfriend, hurry up." he grinned, and she couldn't help but grin back. "i'm starving."
luke could do that. he could kiss her in front of people, and tell everyone the way they got together. he could hold hands with her, caress her back and almost have a heart attack when she kissed him behind his ear. he could live with that, yeah. it was normal. it was pretending.
until it started to change. suddenly. quickly.
he noticed her. the eyes, the shape of her face, the way her eyebrows moved when she laughed, and the look she gave him every single time she entered a room he was already in, and luke couldn't help but pay attention at her soft hair, how excited she became while looking at pretty flowers, and especially, how her fingers felt against his own scalp when they needed to do some pretending. she was an aphrodite kid after all. y/n was charming. y/n was lovely. y/n was his girlfriend, at least for a while.
and she couldn't help but notice him either. how his scar looked more bright when they. the subtle, yet attentive and gentle way he taught her how to hold a sword, how to train, how to fight. the infuriating way at how he held her chin up slightly, every single time, before sealing his lips against hers.
and for once, neither of them were pretending.
the bonfire started earlier that night, but the couple came to it late; y/n helped one of her sisters who was in a small crises, and her sweet caring boyfriend waited for her by the aphrodite cabin's door, holding her hand as soon as she got out, so they could sit together at one of the logs, full of campers, chartering, telling stories, and enjoying the peacefulness that the simple event emanate.
luke choose one of the back logs for a reason, it was darker, harder to anyone else to see them. even so, as soon as the boy started to leave little pecks at her jaw, he was able to hear some whistles and exclamations. teenagers were gonna be teenagers after all.
"alright," y/n sat upstraight, taking a deep breath before continuing. "you can't do that here."
"i'm just having fun!" the boy said with a mischievous grin. he knew way to well what he was doing. she hoped he would do it forever. the teasing, the almost getting caught made her heart sink every time. "you are my girlfriend after all."
"don't get ahead of yourself, hero." she muttered, grinning at him, before sealing lips with him again. "i still have to break your heart."
"are you sure about that?" he furrowed his eyebrows, pretending to be offended, but getting right back at his job pretty quickly. "i'll just enjoy it until the time comes then."
she laughed, taking her head back so he could have full access to her neck, delicately taking one of her hands to his scalp. and he noticed how much he loved that sound. so much in a way he wished he could bottle it up so he could taste it every time he felt miserable. that wasn't possible. but y/n promised that as long as they were together, he was allowed to make her laugh any time he wanted to, if if meant getting him happy.
that's why it hurt even more when he did what he did.
when he revealed himself to be the traitor.
"come with me."
"i'm sorry, what the hell are you doing?" she cried out, feeling her heart beating faster than ever. "you're not thinking straight. you're not. you're not like this, i-" the words got caught up in her throat. y/n felt like she could pass out at any minute. "i know you luke." her voice was a mere pleading by then, hoping with all her soul he would hear. "you wouldn't do this to me."
"you mean a lot to me, daisy, but this is fucking different."
he was different, and she finally noticed. his eyes darker, his tone stern, and the way he held himself up, like he was prepared for a fight.
y/n would never fight him.
and he would never fight her, right?
and when luke turned his back against her, letting the aphrodite girl caught up with a sob, furrowing her eyebrows, feeling the tears already soaking up her eyes, y/n thought she understood.
maybe aphrodite didn't buy it. and even if she did, she knew it started out with a lie. y/n was playing house. thinking she could be smarter than her mom, she could prove it to everyone else how that curse was a lie, and that nothing would happen to the one that didn't completed it.
but it did happend.
no demigod could ever stand out a god. y/n was no exception.
and she finally understood that.
by the end of the day, y/n went back to her well known cabin, shamefully, missing her radiant aura and pretty smile, hiding a shattered heart in her pocket.

You cradle your phone in both hands and stare down at the little red heart. Double tapping your own mother’s message should not make you feel this gross and torn apart inside.
You stare at your instagram chat with her for a few more minutes than you’d like to admit, then shut off the phone altogether and lay it facedown on the bed next to you.
You’re somewhere in the Swiss alps with your performance team, taking a few days to ski before the holidays. You, luckily, have your own room in the little hotel that is somehow associated with Mercedes as a whole.
There’s a gnawing in your chest. Should you have responded to you mom with actual words?
Things at home have been rocky lately.
It started the week of Abu Dhabi. Since you were already F2 world champion, you had planned to pay the fine and skip the final race of the season, since it was thanksgiving.
In all honesty, you didn’t decide that. Your mother and father did, then held an hour long screaming match with you, which ended with your mother storming out and you in tears.
“Don’t you love us? Don’t you want to be with your family?”
“No, of course not. To her, we’re nothing.”
They’re not nothing. You wish they were nothing, that what they thought didn’t mean anything to you.
But they aren’t nothing, and you still would move heaven and earth for your family’s approval, so you had decided to stay home for Thanksgiving, whether it jeopardized your career in motorsport or not.
Until you got the call, they had won. You were going to miss the last race of the season, possibly the last race of your career for a family dinner.
And then Toto called and you sprinted out of Calc, turned your car on and sped to the nearest airport, shooting a text to your mom on the way.
She had not been pleased.
A voice in your head that sounds suspiciously like Seb’s tells you that there shouldn’t be a world in which you make yourself sick worrying about what you mother is going to scream at you when you get home.
You wish you could text him. Call him, tell him what’s wrong, but you can’t, or you won’t.
You don’t want to bother him, and you already have one set of parents that hate you, you don’t need him and Hanna to get fed up with you, too.
You can’t, however, stomach yet another family dinner when your mother, father, aunt and uncle are all ragging on you for following you dream and being a little too busy. You know they all wish you were normal.
It’s not worth it, you decide. Going home is not worth it.
So you pick up your phone and tap on Charles’s contact, realizing only belatedly that your presence at their home would be an intrusion on their mourning.

▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄
Christmas in Monaco is … everything you remember your childhood christmas to be. Unconditional love, laughter, light.
There are times, of course, that you all feel the lingering hole that is the absence of Herve, who was the patriarch of the family.
Pascale, bless her soul, she does her best, and seems genuinely glad that you’ve come to celebrate with them.
“Y/n, mon amor!” she exclaims as you walk through the door, Mercedes duffel bag thrown over your shoulder. “I was so happy when Charles told me that you were spending Christmas with us!”
She wraps you in a hug and you freeze up, willing the tears that are stinging your eyes away and easing into the embrace. There is t a time in your recent memory that your own mother hugged you like this.
Pascale snaps her fingers at Charles.
“Charles, monte son sac dans la chambre.”
He sighs and takes your duffel over one shoulder, ascending the stairs to the bedroom you will be sharing with him.
“Come,” Pascale orders you in English. “You must be starving!”
it’s a flush of hugs and chatter and drinks flowing, sitting around this table with the Leclercs. Enzo and Arthur don’t question your presence. You assume that Charles has told them you are constantly having issues with your family.
Charles sits to your right. Pascale heads the table and Lorenzo sits across from Charles with Arthur to his right. Lorenzo asks you and Charles about the upcoming season, congratulates you in your win.
“Charles will not stop talking about it!”
“It’s impressive!” Charles defends, his ears pinking. “She’s the youngest to ever win!”
You pat Charles’s shoulder.
“It’s ok, Charlie. I know I’m just so amazing.”
He mutters something in French that you don’t catch, but Pascale slaps his shoulder.
“Do not use those words at my table!”
The entire table erupts in laughter and you look around. This is the first time in a long time that a family dinner has actually felt like family.
There is a mattress in Charles’s closet that you’ve slept on for hundreds of nights throughout your lifetime. It’s a little lumpy, but the trick is to lay down a comforter under the bottom sheet and that smooths out all the bumps.
You’ve showered and changed into your pajamas while Charles makes up the makeshift bed at the foot of his own.
He casts a dirty look at your black Mercedes t-shirt.
“This is a Ferrari-only household,” he scolds you with no actual bite.
“I don’t see you driving for Ferrari.”
He rolls his eyes at you and takes one of his pillows and sets it at the head of your bed. He’s pulled the sheets tight, just like he always used to.
“When was the last time you slept here?” He asks you, breaking the weird silence you’ve fallen into.
“Um,” You set your clothes next to your duffel. “2015? I came and stayed to watch your first home F3 race?”
He was seventeen, you fifteen, and you’d been in the height of your awkwardness, and to make matter worse, he still hadn’t discovered deodorant. Altogether, not a fond experience.
He makes an affirming noise and lays down on his bed.
You pull back your covers and he shuts off the light, and for a while it’s just the two of you breathing. He always tries to match your inhales and exhales.
“Your family,” he blurts into the dark. “Why aren’t you with them?”
Your heart squeezes.
“I think they think I think I’m too good for them.”
He pauses.
“Repeat? slower?”
You laugh softly. Sometimes you forget his English isn’t the greatest.
“They think that I think that I’m better than them. My mom, especially. When she was growing up I think she idolized her parents and I don’t idolize her in the same way. She’s really scared that she can’t control me like they controlled her.”
Charles mulls that over,
“And your father? “
You sigh into the darkness.
“I don’t know. He’s always working and he doesn’t like that I have my own opinions and stuff, because he’s very … he needs to be right.
“And then my brother, we get along when our parents are being crazy, but it’s not like we’re close. I was gone for most of our childhood and now he’s in school.”
There’s a shifting in Charles’s bed, the you hear his feet pattering on the floor. The mattress beside you dips, then he’s laying next to you, his shoulder touching yours.
“This is very uncomfortable.”
You scoff out a laugh.
“It’s not that bad.”
“It is. My bed is much more comfortable.”
“Then go back and sleep there!”
He shifts next to you, rolling on his side then back to his back. Lying here, next to him, it’s hot. You scoot over an inch so you can still feel him but you’re not touching.
His breaths become slower and deeper.
“I’m sorry,” He tells you just as you’re drifting off to sleep. “That you feel like your family doesn’t want you, but… “
His hand pats yours three times.
“I’m glad you’re here. Makes it more bearable.”
You fall asleep then, and wake up with you back to him. You sit up as the cold light streams through the blinds and look over at him. His face is smushed and a bead of drool pools on his pillow.
“Charlie,” You whisper. “Charlie, wake up.
He sits up like you just ran an electric shock through him. His hair is smashed to the side and he used the back of his hand to wipe the drool.
You giggle.
“C’mon, I smell breakfast.”

As soon as you say ‘It’s fine’ you know you’re done for. ‘Fine’ is never fine.
He calls you, you try to avoid the question, but then he hits you with -
“Y/n.” In his disappointed/worried voice. And it works like it always does. You tell him everything - from when it started when you were in F3 to now, how you’ve driven your family away. He listens. He’s a good listener when he wants to be.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” He asks at the end. You take a shaking breath.
Because I didn’t want you to realize I’m no good. Because you would leave me, too. Because I can’t not love them and I don’t know why.
“I don’t know.”
“Are you going home for the new year?”
You’ve been waiting on a text from your mom. That’s how it goes. Fight, spend a week in the silent treatment, one of you reaches out, you make up, then you fight again. You promised yourself that you’re not going to be the one to reach out this time.
“I don’t know.”
“If not, come to my house. We’re having a party.”
Your words catch in your throat.
“I don’t want to intrude-“
“You’re never intruding,” he assures you. “I’m your mentor, remember? I have to look out for you.”
My parents are supposed to look out for me.
“Okay,” you breathe out. “I’ll keep that in mind. Thanks, Seb.”
“Merry Christmas, Spitfire.”
Your mom texts you. She grovels. You get on a plane an hour later and go back home.

★Picnic date with the slasher boys!★
Includes: Michael Myers, Jason Voorhees, Thomas Hewitt and Ghost face (Billy and stu).
•Neutral pronouns
•Just Fluff!
•Headcanons, of course!
Enjoy!
Tumblr media
Jason Voorhees.
★He was a little insecure about it, if you where going to like the place, the food, etc. I dare to say that he was even more nervous than insecure. What if rains instead of being a sunny day?
★He tried his best to be a date, a special moment for you two, sharing the silent treatment, in a soft moment while the birds make their music between the trees.
★The view of you, delicate even if you where strong, in the green of the grass... He could spend hours and hours watching you in the woods, where the spots of sunlight caress you skin so delicate like a whisper... In that moment he only wishes to be a good poet, brave enough to say what he feels when he watches you, make a letter for you, sunlight or moonlight, you where precious to him.
★Probably will bring a bouquet of flowers, his mom raised a gentleman, even if the flowers are from the wild. He thinks they're pretty like you.
Even if you aren't a fan of flowers, probably he will find something that is pretty and for your taste. Crow skulls? Leaves? Little rocks? Don't worry, he has that covered. He may seem busy all the time, but he's a great watcher, he will know somehow.
★Read a book for him, he loves your voice. He can lay in the blanket for the picnic and listen to you for hours. His breath softened, his body relaxed... A day only for you.
★Both of you probably lose the sense of time, you fell asleep and he probably was to hipnotized for you to notice that the sun just set, the orange tones everywhere...
★He couldn't believe that you could look even prettier. Maybe you're an angel!
★He loves you.
Tumblr media
Thomas Hewitt
•A picnic? In this place? No, too much sun for you, he doesn't want you to have a sunburn.
•But your puppy eyes make him feel weak, even if his priority is to keep you save from everything...
•Then, something comes to his mind. Now he has a plan, so... He lets you know that is a yes, but not now, you'll have to wait.
•Days and days passed, you wondered what tommy was doing, Hoyt was always complaining about how Tommy wasn't working most of the time, then what he was doing? He promised...
•Until one day you find out why.
•He guided you after he appeared in the door of your bedroom, his eyes where full of energy, he couldn't wait to show you his answer.
•And he had a basket in his left arm.
•He offered to you his right arm, like a gentleman... Luda's Mae work!
•And then... He built a small place near to the trees in the farm, like a little cabin, but at the same time just a place with a ceiling, a clean floor, and a blanket above it so you can get a picnic date.
•He made it for you, just you.
•He loves you.
Tumblr media
Ghostface. (Billy and Stu!)
★Billy automatically says no, Stu says a very yes. It doesn't surprise you, sometimes Billy is like a vampire, allergic to the sun...
★Stu gets ready, he's so happy to spend time with you out, in, even the space! He loves everything that means being with you!
★Billy at the very end surrenders to your happiness and the energy from Stu... (And maybe Stu got annoying asf trying to convince him.)
★Both of you, Stu and you, decided to go for a quiet place (maybe that will make Billy more happy with) so, the nearest wood is the best option and at the same time Stu is happy to be in a place full of bugs, leaves, green, greeeeen! Even if he's not such a fan of nature.
★Billy approves the choice, so practically you have green light.
★Road with Stu singing the music from the stereo, Billy with his (fake) face of boredom. And you just enjoying them being them.
★Billy puts everything, the blanket, the basket, even the fucking food, just to save your life... And his too. Stu it's not the best at cooking.
★Once set everything... Billy will lay there, lazily, and will ask you to tell your day, an experience or something. He just wants to hear you.
★Stu plays with you, even hide and seek. Both of you run everywhere, challenging Billy to join! He does after a while (he cant say no for you two, and he knows that... but he got a pride to protect),and he's very competitive.
★They love you.
Tumblr media
•Are you sure that you want to go out with him? This was completely your idea, but he's not going to say no. He just doesn't care that much. Someone sees him? It's ok, he'll kill them anyways.
•Obviusly you have to dismiss him to not doing that, he agrees, but only because you offered a sort of sweets for the picnic. (Not because he can't say no toy your puppy eyes, of course not.)
•Internaly he's grateful that at the end you choose a place, still in haddofield, away from every posible person. You two alone, in a beautiful sunny day. (He's not a fan of heat an sun).
•He carries everything for the picnic, but you'll have to cook everything... At least he stoled some candies forma store.
•He takes off his mask.
•You two spend a quiet time in there, his just sit in the blanket, staring at you with his cold blue eyes... For him it's perfect, watching you for hours? It's his favorite hobby, he does all day. (But without you knowing it.)
•You don't know how, but after a while, he can't take off his hands from you. He's grabbing your little hand, your check, caressing your neck, your shoulder... Like if he was admiring a beautiful sculpture. (He's an artistic man, don't blame him)
•Then, while you both eat some delicious stuff (and probably diabetic for him) you enjoy his silence... That says more than a thousand of words.
•He loves you.
Tumblr media
Hi there! I hope you enjoy this and feel free to ask something to write! If I had mistakes on my writing, forgive me! English it's not my native language, I'm Mexican! So, if your native language is Spanish too, feel free to ask something on that!
Love to y'all!

[Transcript under the cut]
Zoe: you might have noticed already but I’m no counselor, I’m just the best tracher they have that knows how to speak to children. Max: I’m not a kid Zoe: so, why are you so fixated on Rochelle. She has something that you don’t? Thumbs up from an authority? Male approval? Max: uhh. I just think her art sucks? Zoe: hm. Zoe: …I haven’t seen you since you were a freshman. You somehow were smaller back then. Max: yeah well, I feel just the same. Zoe: care to elaborate? Max: no. Zoe: Max, are you still seeing your therapist? Max: what does that have to do with anything Max: SHE went to JAPAN and then I completely forgot to get back in touch. Zoe: uh huh. When did that happen? Max: …three months ago? Max: but I got so much better anyways! Besides, what’s she gonna do now? Tell me to get in touch with my feelings? To not push people I love away? Respect my own body? I already know all that. Max: besides, I’m still taking my meds. So take that. Zoe: yup. Noted. Knocking Zoe: Oh. by the way, since you were unconscious for a while, we took the liberty to call your mom. Just in case. Max: my mom’s dead. Ulrike: --you are supposed to BLOCK them, you BLOCK the punches from your face, sigh- Ulrike: what happened? Max: a butch Ulrike: …well, happens to the best of us. Zoe: hello! Are you his stepmother? As you can see he’s up and well, but it’s still nice you came! I’m sure he could use some family time right now Ulrike: …Max who’s this lady Max: that’s Zoe. She teaches here. Zoe: it’s a pleasure!…Ul….rich-a? Ulrike: Ulrike. Zoe: Ulrike, I’m sorry! That’s a beautiful name. Ulrike:thank you. Could say the same about yours. Zoe: I uh- aha. I mean THANKS Max: noo o o o
Max: that was so depraved of you. Ulrike: hey, she started it. And I can’t deny a gorgeous lady like that. Ulrike: You might end up seeing me around again sooner than you think. Max: …ew. Ulrike: everything alright? You know, besides your new black eye. Max: I just need to get some rest. Forever. Ulrike: how about we get some cheap lunch instead? Max: …yeah.

Fic Concept:
Tali'Zorah is, if she does say so herself, something of an expert in galactic romance. Her omnitool hosts a 6 terabyte collection of romance and romcom vids from across the spectrum of known species, and after that much media exposure, she's fairly sure she's familiar with all the ins and outs of each culture's dating milestones.
She knows, for example, that family members have certain duties in a clan member's new relationship, in human cultures. As one of Shepard's closest friends, she also knows that the poor thing has no family to fulfil those duties for her.
Determined to see Shepard and Garrus's relationship turn into Shepard and Garrus's marriage, she starts handing out responsibilities to appropriate members of the Normandy crew. Shenanigans ensue.
(AKA the one in which Tali is convinced common romcom tropes are actually essential milestones in any human romantic relationship, and takes steps to make sure Shep and Garrus get to experience them.)
Ideas that made me horf:
- Wrex, as Shepard's oldest and closest (deeply violent) male associate, is enlisted to give Garrus the if you break her heart, I'll end you speech usually performed by the father, on a visit to Tuchanka. Maybe he absolutely knows Tali has misread this, and lowkey gives the speech over shots of ryncol, wheezing about how Shep would kill Garrus just fine herself. Maybe he has no idea this isn't an actual important human ritual, and performs his part with ceremonial gusto. Anyway, he does it, and somehow manages to be vaguely heartwarming about it anyway or gives Garrus some sign of approval.
- Mordin, as the oldest male friend on the Normandy, is tasked with interrogating Garrus at "Family Dinner". He does so, but very few of the questions he asks are actually relevant to the typical Meet The Parents dinner, and Shepard actually learns a few new things about Garrus herself.
- Joker volunteers to be "mom" and bring out the baby pictures to show Garrus. He doesn't have any pictures of Shepard as an actual baby, but he does have some funny or embarrassing ones from their time serving together under Captain Anderson he's been itching to share, and that's almost the same thing. She's more baby there than she is now, anyway.
- Tali strongly encourages Garrus to spend time "bonding" with Grunt. It's very important to make sure your future wife's child knows he is included in your new family unit, Garrus! An eventful trip to the zoo/museum/etc ensues.
- Bonus wedding chapter where Wrex is bullied into formal wear to walk Shep down the aisle; Jack paints Cipritine face markings on Grunt thinking they're Vakarian family markings and then sets him loose on Garrus's extended family, who are all very confused as to how this young krogan is apparently from Cipritine; Zaeed gives a hilariously inappropriate speech as Best Man and accidentally outs Garrus as Archangel in front of Aria T'Loak; Kasumi attempts to hook up with Jacob in a time-honoured tradition of inadvisable bridesmaid/groomsman couplings, and Mordin makes use of his STG training to break into the honeymoon suite to leave a tasteful gift basket of sex aids on the bed, because Tali has banned him from giving them in front of the guests.
Just. Interfering Interspecies Crew Way Off Base But Have Loving Intentions. And in the end Shepard is deeply exasperated, but also very touched by the effort put in by the people that love them, and honestly lowkey glad that they got to experience those cliche moments after all.
Bonus points: crewmembers who really do see Shepard/Garrus as family also trying to share their traditions with her/him. Like, if a krogan warrior convinces a fertile female to join his clan, that's a big deal and maybe the clan throws a huge feast and party to celebrate, so Wrex does that for them. Or maybe asari pass hereditary jewelry from mother to daughter to be worn at the first bonding ceremony to a beloved life partner, so Samara lends Shep hers to wear for the wedding. Shit like that.

Meeting The Parents (BuckTommy) - one-shot

BuckTommy Positivity Week Day 3: meeting the friends and family

They liked Tommy. It was strange because Buck hadn’t expected them to. Of course, with it being Tommy, it shouldn’t have been that surprising because Buck had yet to meet someone that didn’t like him. Buck had, of course, expected his association with Tommy to be enough to make his parents disapprove. Somehow, though, he’d been wrong. Margaret and Phillip Buckley liked Tommy Kinard even if maybe they still didn’t quite like Buck.
“That looks like it’s going well,” Maddie said, smiling at him.
“I know. I guess I didn’t think it would.”
She nodded in understanding. He remembered how nervous she’d been when she introduced Chimney to them. Chim was still convinced that they only tolerated him because he was better than her first husband and because through him they had gotten a grandchild. Buck thought otherwise.
His parents wouldn’t have gone out of their way to help Chim and Maddie with getting their house and then later with the wedding if they didn’t approve.
“Buck, you know they’ve been trying. This is what that looks like.”
Buck nodded. It was a good thing. It was just that he still remembered how shocked his mom in particular had been when Buck brought Tommy to the hospital room where Maddie and Chim got married. No one in that room could have mistaken that he and Tommy had been making out and Buck had just been so excited about Tommy actually showing up that he hadn’t cared if the soot left on his face gave it all away. He’d worried for a split second that his parents might be upset, but they just didn’t comment on it then or later.
Even when Buck saw them right before their flight back out to Pennsylvania, they didn’t say a thing and so Buck figured that it would go just like everything else. Ignored. He was used to it, and more often than not it was better that way.
Maybe it was that he and Tommy had lasted past the five month mark, or that the few times Buck talked to his parents he slipped up and mentioned Tommy. And then, when Tommy asked him to move in, Buck had sent them his new address sometime after he’d already settled into Tommy’s house.
He hadn’t expected them to send them a housewarming gift in the form of a very complicated coffee machine that Buck was still getting the hang of. So, maybe that should have been telling, except that Buck had never told them he was moving in with Tommy. With his parents it was always just better to give as little detail as possible.
When Jee-Yun’s birthday came around, it wasn’t a surprise that they would come for the party, and neither of them had reacted or said anything when Buck arrived with Tommy. That should have been telling for Buck. They greeted Tommy politely and that was kind of it. Until the party was ending and his mom approached him while he was helping put away leftovers in Maddie’s kitchen.
“Evan,” she said and Buck was trying to be graceful. He was trying not to be difficult, but he hated when she used his first name.
“Mom, it’s—”
“Buck,” she said and he could hear the disapproval.
“Yes, mom?” He asked and didn’t turn to look at her. Instead he continued to slip things into tupperware.
“We were wondering if we could have a family dinner before your father and I go back to Pennsylvania. You can bring your…your…you can bring Tommy. We’d, uh, we’d like to meet him properly.”
Buck froze and he turned to look at her directly. “Uh, you want to meet him? He’s here.”
She fixed him with a look that actually reminded him of Maddie.
“I won’t say it was a surprise to find out my son is dating men now, but I can see — we can both see — that this is different. You actually mention him in our very few phone calls which is more than you’ve ever done before. So, how about it?”
“Uh…sure,” Buck said.
His mom smiled at him and she touched his shoulder. “I’ll have Maddie figure out when everyone is available.”
Buck nodded.
He’d been nervous leading up to the dinner. Tommy had thought it was cute that he was worried about his parents, but then Buck had never really explained why his relationship with his parents was so frayed. He still probably wouldn’t understand considering how Margaret and Phillip Buckley actually seemed to like Tommy. They seemed to approve of him.
“Is it weird how much more they seem to like Tommy than me?” Chim asked.
“They like you more than me so does that help?” Buck asked.
Chim just grinned. “I’ll take it.”
“Either way, I think Jee has all of us beat,” Buck said.
“On that you’re right.”
Buck watched them for a little longer and it shouldn’t have shocked him that Tommy was managing to make conversation with them.
It wasn’t a lie to say that he’d been nervous when Evan mentioned his parents requesting Tommy at the family dinner. Tommy didn’t know much about Evan’s parents aside from Evan’s comment about Bobby being like a father to him. Considering his own issues with his parents, Tommy had sort of just assumed that it wasn’t a good relationship all around.
The first time he was anywhere near them, he hadn’t even been introduced to them and he and Evan had left pretty quickly after cake. He’d felt a little bad about it after, but Buck had told him everyone understood how tired he was.
After that, he only ever heard about them when Evan mentioned his mom calling or emailing him. It happened maybe once or twice a month and he was aware that the conversations were never very long. A whole month after Evan moved in, they received a large box from them containing a coffee machine that had too many knobs, buttons, and options.
“I told them I moved,” Evan admitted. “I guess this was their response. Mom never liked the loft she she’s probably thrilled I’m not there anymore.”
The next time he encountered them it was Jee-Yun’s birthday. He and Evan arrived a little late because Evan waited for him to get home from his shift. Evan’s dad had made a point of it to comment on it in a way that felt like an admonishment.
“Sorry,” Evan said. “Had to wait for Tommy to get home from work.”
They were saved from further questioning when Jee saw them and ran towards them, first receiving a kiss and hug from Evan, but squirming away from him to get to Tommy and demanding that he pick her up.
Jee-Yun was giggly and red faced and happy. She babbled at him about cake and the pinata and only let herself be extricated from him when her father appeared with a little pointy hat and immediately she was pointing at Tommy.
“But why aren’t you wearing one?”
“You wear it!” Jee said and Tommy didn’t think he could ever say no to her. “Uncle Tommy, please!”
“Alright. Alright.”
Once the hat was on, Chim smirking at him and wearing his own hat, Jee wanted to be back down on the ground. Evan reached up and fixed the hat.
“It’s cute,” he said and grinned.
A cough alerted them to Evan’s parents still being there.
“Oh. Sorry,” Evan said. “Mom, dad, this is Tommy. My boyfriend.”
“Hello. It’s nice to meet you.” Tommy offered and then was saved by Eddie calling his name.
Evan got his own hat a few moments later and out on the patio they found that they were not the only ones that had been cajoled into the colorful birthday hats. Jee just had that kind of influence.
He didn’t think it had happened on purpose but he didn’t interact with the Buckleys again that night. Instead he stayed close to Evan and they didn’t approach. Sometimes he even felt their eyes on him, but it was strange because Tommy knew when eyes were on him because of who he was, he knew the disdain and the disgust that some people felt. From Evan’s parents he found confusion and curiosity. He had no idea what to make of it.
So, when Evan mentioned the family dinner, Tommy hadn’t really known it was because he’d been invited. Not just that, requested. It didn’t help that Evan was trying not to show that he was anxious about the whole thing too.
“They’re good people,” Evan said on the way over. “Just…they weren’t great parents. That’s all.”
Tommy didn’t know what to make of that except that of course his own parents were horrible people in his eyes and he couldn’t even exactly say that they had been good parents to him. Between the homophobia and the way that they had always treated him like a burden neither of them wanted to deal with, there wasn’t much to redeem them. It hadn’t been surprising to Tommy when he found out that neither of them had ever wanted to have kids.
Evan’s parents were different. Awkward around Evan like they were walking on eggshells and didn’t know quite what to say to him. They seemed perfectly fine with Maddie and Chim. They loved Jee-Yun clearly, though that wasn’t a hard feat. Tommy hadn’t known her long but he knew that he had the biggest soft spot for her especially once she started calling him uncle Tommy.
With Tommy, Evan’s parents were at first polite and then they warmed up to him. As it turned out, Phillip was pretty quick witted and interested in Tommy’s work as a pilot. Margaret was a bit harder to read, and he could tell that she was assessing him. Somehow, Tommy felt warmed by it.
It was when the topic of his own family came up, that Tommy felt his guard go up.
“I, uh, I don’t really have any family,” he told them. “They’re, uh, they’re alive but they’re not a part of my life.”
“May I ask why?” Mrs. Buckley said and she looked so genuinely concerned that he decided to be truthful.
“They didn’t want to have a gay son,” Tommy settled on. “That was a big reason.”
“I’m sorry to hear that,” Mr. Buckley said.
Tommy hadn’t expected that. “Thank you.”
“If it means anything coming from us, you’ve done very well for yourself. When Buck mentions you, he’s singing your praises. He never talks about anyone he’s dating, at least not with us. It’s different with you, it’s why we wanted to meet you officially. I hope you stick around.”
“I hope so too.”
At the end of the night, his mom actually hugged Tommy. His dad pat Tommy on the back.
“He’s a good one, Buck,” his mom said. “I’m glad you found each other.”
It shouldn’t have had that much meaning coming from his mom, but it wasn’t that they accepted it, as much as that they saw just how amazing Tommy was all on their own.
“Me too. He’s the best thing to ever happen to me,” Buck said and for some reason he followed it up with, “I think I’m going to marry him one day.”
Buck didn’t expect to see his mom wiping her eyes, or how she smiled at him with something like pride. Things might never be quite perfect between them, but there was something to be said for how they were trying.

The First Date…A Little Late
Tumblr media
Photos are not mine. They are courtesy of Pinterest/Google.
Pairing: Retired Dad Dean Winchester x F! Reader; supporting character Sam Winchester
Warnings: Swearing, Smut (18+ Please or I’m telling on you) “Magic Fingers”, P in V Sex, jealousy, brief confrontation
Word Count: 6.1K-ish (sorry it’s a little long)
Summary: Sam comes to visit Dean and his nephew Charlie and it’s the first time you’re meeting your boyfriend’s brother. It’s also the first time Dean takes you out on a date.
A/N: Part of the Carrying On series. If you haven’t read it, I’ll leave it linked HERE. I’m sorry I’ve been MIA for a little bit. It’s just been a little tough for me lately with life but I digress. Anyway, I hope you like this, I enjoyed writing it 🧡 Oh and I used one of my favorite 90’s country songs in this too, Strawberry Wine by Deana Carter. I’ll link it at the end.
As always, thank you for reading!  I appreciate it so much and comments, reblogs are welcome and encouraged. Don’t be shy to tell me your favorite part. 💕💕 💕
“Uncle Sam!” Exclaimed Charlie as he watched Sam walk through the front door.
Dean had mentioned to you that his brother would be visiting for about a week. He hadn’t seen them in a little while and Dean said that he also wanted to meet you.
Although you shouldn’t be, you felt a little nervous meeting Dean’s brother. Sam was the only family Dean had left and you were also the first real relationship Dean had since his wife’s passing. You already had Charlie’s approval but somehow, you felt like you needed Sam’s also.
Charlie ran over and wrapped his arms around his uncle. He was so happy Sam was visiting and you couldn’t help but smile at the two of them as they gave each other a hi-five.
“Hey buddy! How have you been?” Asked Sam.
“GOOD!” Said Charlie. “You wanna meet Dad’s girlfriend?!”
Sam chuckled.
“Oh I sure do.” Sam said as he walked over to you, extending his hand for you to shake. “Hi…I’m Sam.”
“Hi Sam, it’s nice to finally meet you. I’m y/n. Dean’s told me a lot about you.” You said, shaking his hand in return.
One side of Sam’s mouth curled into a slight smile.
“Don’t believe anything he says.” Said Sam. “But the stories I could tell you about him.”
Extending his pointer finger, Dean aggressively shook his head. “Nope, not happening. If you had brought me some pie, I might have considered it but ya didn’t.” He said.
Their brotherly banter was amusing and a playful smile stretched across your lips watching them together as they hugged and Dean showed Sam to his room.
Your mother died when you were very young so you don’t have any memories of her. You only had pictures and the stories your father used to tell you.
He used to tell you how much you reminded him of her like the way you smiled, your laugh was the same as hers, and how kind you were. And he loved to tell you how you used to ask for a sister every chance you had.
“Your mom had the biggest heart of anyone I’ve ever met…just like you.” Dad had said.
Charlie had been trying to get your attention for a few minutes while you were replaying that moment in your head about your father.
“Y/N!!” Yelled Charlie.
Breaking your daydream, you finally answered him.
“I’m sorry, buddy. I was daydreaming. What’s up?” You asked.
Charlie gave you a concerned look.
“Oh…What were you daydreaming about?” He asked.
You smiled warmly at him and replied, “Oh…I was just remembering some things my dad had told me and how much I reminded him of my mom. And if my mom didn’t get sick when I was young, maybe I could have had a brother or a sister. Seeing your Dad and Uncle Sam together just got me thinking of what it would be like to have a sibling. So…what’s up?”
“I was just gonna ask if you were gonna stay for dinner.” Charlie said with a wide grin.
You smiled back and replied, “Of course I’ll stay, Charlie.”
**********
“…Then when I opened the locker and he saw the cat inside, your dad started screaming like a little girl.” Said Sam.
You and Charlie were laughing hysterically while Dean sat with his arms crossed protectively across his chest, sulking. Taking a sip of his beer, he glared at Sam, and absolutely hated the fact he was telling that particular story.
Sam looked over at Dean and continued, “He was scared of EVERYTHING.”
Charlie looked like he was thinking about something. His eyes were narrowed and his brow furrowed as he asked, “Dad, if you and y/n get married, do you think I could have a sibling?”
Dean started to choke on his beer as heat rose to your cheeks. “Out of the mouths of babes,” you thought to yourself but also you were completely mortified, covering your eyes with your hand.
While Dean was still trying to compose himself, you replied to Charlie.
“Easy buddy. Pump the brakes a little, ok? You made your dad choke on his drink.” You said with a little laugh and brushed the tip of his nose with your finger.
“I can’t breathe!” Dean yelled.
Sam shook his head and replied, “Dude, calm down. He was just asking a question.”
Finally, Dean was able to catch his breath and stop coughing long enough to put Charlie to bed and when he returned you thought maybe it was best if you went home and let the two of them spend some time together.
“What do ya mean you’re gonna go?” Asked Dean.
“Yeah, I thought we were havin’ fun.” Added Sam.
You didn’t want it to seem like you weren’t enjoying yourself because you really were. Sam is really sweet.
“Oh I am, I really am. I just thought since you guys haven’t seen each other in awhile that it might be nice if you guys caught up on brother stuff or whatever. I dunno, I don’t have any siblings so I don’t really know what I’m talking about. I’ll see you both tomorrow. It really is SO nice to finally meet you, Sam.” You said.
“Likewise. I’ll see ya tomorrow.” Said Sam.
Out of the corner of your eye, you saw Sam mouth something to Dean. Unsure of himself, Dean stood up and said, “Uh…lemme walk you home, sweetheart.”
“OH! Well that’s a first, that would be really nice, baby.” You said shyly.
The two of you quietly walked back to your house before you broke the silence.
“Sam’s really great, Dean. You’re lucky to have each other.” You said.
You stopped outside your door and you could hear Bear whining on the other side.
Dean placed his hands on your hips and pulled you in close as you snaked your arms around his neck. He tucked some stray hairs behind your ears before he leaned in close and gently pressed his lips to yours.
Still tasting the beer, you kissed him back and expressed a low moan as he parted your lips with his tongue so it could tangle with yours. Dean hadn’t kissed you since Sam arrived and it felt so good to be in his embrace again.
He was the one who broke the kiss to say, “You know I love you, right?”
“I know you do, Dean.” You said smiling against his lips after another quick kiss.
“Just because…I know my reaction to what Charlie said…I…uh…just. I don’t want you to think that I…” Dean started to say before you cut him off.
“You don’t have to say anything, baby. It’s ok. I like where we’re at and we’ll just take it as it comes, ok?” You said, delicately brushing his beard with your thumb.
He glanced away from you for a brief moment then nodded.
“Now go spend some time with your brother.” You said sternly with a smile.
“Ok, ok I’m goin’. Can I come over later?” Dean asked with raised eyebrows.
God, he looked cute when he did that and it was hard to say no.
You rolled your eyes playfully at him and answered, “You have your key, right?”
“Wear somethin’ skimpy, alright?” He said, smacking you on the ass.
Dropping your shoulders, you replied, “Dean, you know I don’t have anything like that.”
“Naked works too, ya know.” He said with a wink.
That made you laugh and you playfully shouted, “Get outta here!”
**********
On the Back Porch at Dean’s House
They sat and talked for hours, reminiscing about their hunting days, and talking about their parents. The slight cool breeze blew over the tops of their beer bottles causing them to make a deep whistling noise. The sounds of crickets echoed around them as a shooting star dashed across the night sky.
They were content.
Sam broke the brief silence when he asked, “Dude, in the 8 months since she’s moved here, have you taken y/n on an actual date?”
“Oh come on, Sam.” Dean snapped.
“Have you?” Sam asked.
Dean narrowed his eyes and pulled his eyebrows together, annoyed that Sam would even ask that question.
He shrugged and replied, “She doesn’t strike me as THAT kinda girl. She’s a hunter.”
“That doesn’t mean she doesn’t want to go out on a real date, Dean.” Said Sam.
Dean retorted, “Well MAYBE I haven’t taken her out on a real date because I can’t leave Charlie by himself while we go out, ok?”
“I’ll watch Charlie.” Sam blurted out. “Look Dean, I know you care about her and she’s the first one since…well anyway, just show her how much you love her.”
Dean knew Sam was right. He hadn’t been on a date in, maybe ever. He told you that he met and fell in love with his wife very quickly so they didn’t really go out together much either so this really would be like a first for him too.
“Alright, well what do I do? Take her to dinner or somethin’?” Asked Dean.
“Wow, you really don’t know anything, do you? Do you have OpenTable on your phone?” Asked Sam.
“I have no idea what you just asked me.” Dean said.
Sam gave Dean a look of disappointment and said, “Alright, I’ll help you. I know you wanna go see her so just go and I’ll figure it out.”
Dean rubbed his hands together with excitement and replied, “Don’t mind if I do.” Dean stopped and changed his tone. “Thanks, Sam.”
Sam’s lips curled into a slight smile and he said, “You’re welcome.”
**********
You weren’t expecting Dean to make it over tonight with it being Sam’s first night in town so it surprised you to hear Bear’s low growl coming from outside your bedroom door. You left the porch light and a living room lamp on for him, mostly because you didn’t want him crashing into one of your side tables followed by shouting out an angry string of curse words like he did last time.
After your shower, you had a cup of tea, watched a little tv and went to bed. The steady wind cut through the silence outside your window as your pillow gently cradled your head. The deep growl coming from Bear continued, then you could hear whisper yells of “BEAR! It’s just me ya big dummy!” right before he carefully opened the bedroom door.
Half asleep, your eyes fluttered open briefly before you felt the mattress dip underneath you and a warm body cozy up behind you. Under the blanket, Dean’s chilled hands slowly crept up the side of your bare thigh as he nuzzled into the side of your neck and pressed his lips against your soft warm skin.
“Well…you’re not naked but I like this no pants thing you got goin’ on right now, sweetheart. I think your dog hates me, by the way.” Whispered Dean in your ear.
His thick fingers pushed against the outside of your thigh then gripped your waist tightly and he pulled you flush to him. His hardening length pressed into your back as his name softly fellfrom your lips.
“Mmmmm…Dean.” You moaned. “And Bear doesn’t hate you, baby. He’s just protecting me.”
You felt him smile and bite down gently on your earlobe before he said, “Well maybe he should protect his eyes, I don’t think he’s gonna wanna see what happens next.”
The bristles of his beard tickled the side of your neck causing you to let out a little chuckle before rolling onto your back. Dean was propped up on his side, gazing down at you as if he hadn’t seen you in days before his lips collided with yours. The dim glow from the street light outside was just enough for you to make out some of his features, especially his smile.
Brushing his beard with your thumb, Dean reached for your hand, took it in his, kissed your palm and the placed your hand wrapped with his, over his heart. It was beating erratically as your own pulse began to quicken, desperately wanting his lips to be on yours again.
“I didn’t think I would see you again tonight.” You whispered. “I’m glad you came over.”
You pulled Dean in close to kiss him again. Gently raking your nails against his scalp, he rolled on top of you and firmly nestled in between your legs. In the gathering darkness, his hands urgently tried to find the hem of your t-shirt.
Dean removed it with ease and tossed it onto the floor, his fingers pressed deep into your skin as he sensually explored the curves of your breasts and hips. You gasped as his lips covered your nipple and you felt yourself soaking the sheet underneath you.
Dean didn’t waste any time, letting his talented fingers reach down to see how wet you were for him, then pushed them inside as you arched your back while he curled them and teased you exactly where you needed it. Dripping down his knuckles, he buries his fingers inside you until your vision goes white and your entire body tightens all around him.
The grip you have on his hair makes him wince but in the best way, he knows he’s working you just the way you want him to so he eases back to watch as you lose control and cries of his name fall from your lips.
“Does that feel good, sweetheart?” He growled into your ear.
You still couldn’t see straight as you shakily replied, “Y-yes.”
He barely let you finish the word before he hungrily captured your lips again, his rock hard cock pressed against you, and the ache you felt for him to be inside you. He started to kiss your collarbone, inching his way down but you stopped him. Dean had teased you enough.
Pulling him back up by his soft brown hair, you said, “Dean…Dean…no…no.”
“What is it, baby?” He asked.
Trembling, you replied, “Want you.”
Even in the mostly dark room, you could see the sly smile stretch across his lips and could tell he wanted you just as much. A shiver danced up your spine as he lined himself up at your entrance and easily pushed into you as far as he could go while sinful cries of passion echoed throughout the room. With each rut of his hips, your walls clenched tighter around him and goosebumps suddenly peppered all over your skin.
“This what you wanted, baby?” Dean purred.
The ache of wanting more just kept building as he hit that sensitive bundle of nerves over and over again and you were on the verge of exploding. The tilt in your hips allowed him to go deep and completely bury himself in you as another orgasm started to build.
In barely more than a whisper you breathed, “Y-yes, yes.”
“Oh you’re gonna have to be louder than that…no one’s here. Let me hear you, sweetheart.” He said in a devilish tone.
It turned you on so much to hear his sexy voice while he fucked you. That deep growl while he told you what he wanted from you made you feel drunk with pleasure. You pulled him in as close as you possibly could, it felt like he was dissolving into you, molding and fitting perfectly to your body.
Your hands traveled from his toned arms to his shoulders as his movements became more rapid and erratic while he pulled multiple orgasms from you. Hearing your moans and cries turned him on and made him absolutely feral.
He was close, thrusting faster and grunting louder until his abs and thighs tightened and he let go of his release as you continued to ride out your orgasm.
Breathing heavily, he kissed your forehead as you let out a satisfied sigh.
“God I love you.” He said.
You just held him close and replied, “I love you too, Dean.”
Without warning, Dean blurted out, “I’m gonna take you out on a date.”
“Is that my reward for letting you fuck me, Winchester?” You asked, sarcastically.
“Sweetheart…” Dean started to say before you cut him off.
“I’m kidding, baby. I’m just kidding. I’d love to go out on a date with you. Where are we going?” You asked.
Dean shrugged.
“I dunno…Sammy mentioned something about an open table? I didn’t understand what he was talking about.” He said in a confused tone.
You started to laugh.
“What’s so funny?” He asked.
When you finally stopped laughing, you replied, “You’re so cute. OpenTable is an app that allows you to make reservations for restaurants.”
Still looking confused, Dean said, “Oh…well why didn’t he just say that?”
“I dunno, handsome. But I’m sure we’ll figure something out.” You said, pressing your lips to his.
Saturday Night
“Uncle Sam said that Dad’s taking you out on a date tonight.” Said Charlie.
“That is the plan, buddy. But I guess it’s a surprise so I have no idea what we’re doing.” You replied to Charlie. “Will you keep Bear here with you while your Dad and I go out? He gets lonely sometimes.”
“SURE!!” Exclaimed Charlie.
“Thank you Charlie. I’m gonna go home and finish getting ready.” You said. “Lemme just tell your uncle I’m leavin’.”
Sam was in the kitchen, cleaning up and washing the dishes.
“You’re supposed to be on vacation, Sam. Stop doing the dishes.” You said with a warm smile and a slight chuckle.
“I don’t know how he just leaves dishes in the sink like this.” Said Sam, shaking his head.
“It’s really nice of you to watch Charlie tonight and help Dean out with the date planning and everything, thank you.” You said.
“You’re welcome, y/n. Dean just needs a little help sometimes.” He said. “But he’s gonna pick you up in a little while so don’t come back here after you’re finished getting ready.”
“You don’t want me to—“ You started to say.
Same aggressively shook his head.
“Well…alright then. I’ll see you later and thank you again, Sam.” You remarked.
**********
You could hear the Impala rumbling outside in your driveway so you grabbed your keys, purse, and your jacket but suddenly the engine stopped followed by the signature squeak from the driver’s side door before it closed and then there was a knock at your side door.
Dean may not be familiar with what he was supposed to do on a date but you were also unfamiliar with what to do also aside from watching what happens in movies so he really took you by surprise when you opened the door and he was standing in front of you wearing a new flannel shirt, a nice leather jacket and holding a beautiful bouquet of flowers.
A wide smile played across your lips as you looked at the flowers then up at him. Dean had a slight smile on his face but he also looked a little confused.
“Well hey there, handsome.” You said.
“Did I get the right ones?” Dean asked nervously. “Sam wouldn’t answer me when I asked him what kind of flowers I should get. He just told me to ‘figure it out’ so I just got a bunch of different ones along with some sunflowers because I know those are your favorite.”
Dean remembering your favorite flower was probably the sweetest thing any man has ever done for you to the point where you had to fight back the tears you felt welling up at the back of your eyes.
“Dean…they’re beautiful. I can’t believe you remembered my favorite flower. I think I had only mentioned it once. Thank you, baby.” You said, leaning in and gently pressing your lips to his.
“Well I think YOU look beautiful, sweetheart.” Said Dean.
Warmth rushed to your cheeks and across your chest as you felt yourself start to blush. You really weren’t wearing anything all that special, a black floral tea length dress with a denim jacket over top, and new black cowboy boots. You felt confident in it and you wanted to look nice for him.
You did a slight twirl in the dress and replied, “Awww, thank you baby. And you look incredibly handsome. New shirt?”
“Sam said a lot of my shirts had holes in them.” He answered.
He sounded grouchy that he had to buy a new shirt but that’s just how Dean was so it made you laugh that he actually went out and bought one but you could see him complaining the entire time about having to buy a new one.
“Let me just put these in some water and we can go, ok?” You said.
He nodded.
It was apparent that Dean was trying to remember everything he thought he was supposed to be doing on this date. It just seemed to make him more nervous though so after he closed the car door behind you, you tried to make him feel more at ease.
“Dean…are you ok? You seem so nervous.” You asked, gently touching his shoulder after he sat down inside the car.
With one hand on the steering wheel, Dean turned to face you, looking a little uneasy.
“I-I don’t know what I’m doing, sweetheart!” Said Dean, stumbling a little over his words.
He was trying so hard to be perfect but he didn’t have to be. All he had to do was try.
Inching closer to him, you leaned in and kissed him on the cheek and the bristles of his beard tickled your lips. It was hard not let out a little chuckle while watching him try so hard.
“You’re doing fine, handsome. And besides, I don’t know anything about going out on dates either. We’ll learn together, ok?” You stated.
Starting the car, Dean nodded and replied, “I-I just want you to have a good time. You deserve it.”
“I’m sure I will, baby. So where are we going? I’ll put it into the GPS.” You said, holding your phone.
Looking at his phone, Dean replied, “Uh let’s see…Aha! Here it is…it’s called Hunters Chop House. Sam said it’s a ‘casual steakhouse.’ Whatever that means.”
“Well that’s very fitting now, isn’t it.” You said with a warm smile. “Sounds great, I’m starving.”
**********
Of course, they offered pie for dessert which Dean couldn’t wait to taste and dinner was delicious. The restaurant was quite cozy with its low lighting and roaring fireplace. Your date so far was going great.
Dean told some stories about Sam from when they were younger.
“…So yeah, Sam’s deathly afraid of clowns.” Said Dean with a wide smile.
“He’s not here to defend himself, ya know.” You said with a narrowed expression.
Dean’s wide smile turned into a slight frown, you could tell by the way he talked about his brother that he missed not having him around all the time but he would never admit that to you or anyone.
You decided to ask about it anyway.
“You miss him, don’t you…because he’s not around all the time?” You asked, touching his hand.
Dean pressed his lips together and the muscles in his entire body tensed after you asked him that question. He emphatically answered, “NO!”
“Alright…you keep tellin’ yourself that. But really, you don’t have to hide it, Dean. I don’t have any siblings but I’m pretty sure I’d miss them if I didn’t get to see them often and especially if all you have now is each other.” You said.
“Way to lay on the guilt, sweetheart.” Said Dean with a slight eye roll. “Ok, well yeah I guess I do miss him sometimes.”
“So tell him that. Maybe he’ll come to visit more often or you and Charlie could visit him. I’m sure Charlie would love to see the bunker. I know I would!” You said with raised eyebrows.
Dean leaned in closer and gently pressed his lips to your temple. “Yeah, maybe you’re right.” He said.
“Good.” You replied.
The server set down the piece of pie Dean ordered in front of him but also left two forks in case you wanted a bite. Dean took one look at the pie, then looked at the two forks and brought his gaze up to yours, silently begging you not to take a bite. You knew that look.
“You didn’t want any of this did you?” Asked Dean, pointing his fork down at the pie.
You just smiled and replied, “Nah, you go ahead, baby. Buuuuut…”
He had already taken a bite. You watched carefully as the pecans and the golden brown crust touched his lips which is when you asked for a kiss.
“Can I have a kiss…please?” You asked.
Dean’s lips delicately touched yours and they tasted like sugar and butter with a slight bitterness from the pecans but decadent too.
You pulled away, a sly smile stretched across your lips as you said, “That’s the only taste I wanted, baby. Now it’s all yours.”
With a childlike smile on his face, Dean devoured his pecan pie and you enjoyed watching him wolf it down like someone was going to take it away from him. You loved seeing him so happy even if it was from something as simple as a piece of pie.
It really was the little things in life that brought the biggest smiles to his face.
**********
“Oh we’re not going home yet?” You asked.
“Nope, not yet sweetheart. Close your eyes for me though.” He said.
Dean had been a perfect gentleman all night, opening doors, pulling out chairs, and walking on the outside of the sidewalk. Sam must have drilled it into Dean’s head hard to make sure he did all the right things but you were just happy to be out and having fun with the man you love.
He could have taken you for fast food and watched the stars from the hood of the Impala and that would have been a perfect evening in your eyes.
As the Impala purred along, you and Dean sang along to old rock songs, talked and laughed with each other until you felt the car start to slow down. He turned the radio down but you still faintly heard music coming from outside.
“Alright y/n, open your eyes.” He said.
Your eyes had to adjust to the bright neon lights shining on the outside of the bar. The sign on the front read The Wheel Bar. Dean had mentioned before that they have really good food and music plus they have pool and tabletop shuffleboard.
Your face was as bright as a child’s on Christmas morning while your excitement was pure and unfiltered.
“Is there live music tonight?!!” You asked.
Dean turned the car off. “According to Sam, there is. You ready to go check it out?” He asked.
You nodded furiously and bit back a wide smile.
The red neon lights were glowing from the bar and shined from behind all of the liquor bottles. The band sounded great and you couldn’t explain it but this place really put out good vibes.
Pointing at the pool table, you asked Dean, “Wanna play? I’m actually pretty good.”
“Oh are you.” Said Dean with a sly smile. “Ok, but I’m not gonna take it easy on ya just because you let me see you naked.”
Slightly embarrassed, you covered your eyes as you felt yourself start to blush.
“Just rack ‘em, Winchester.” You said.
Trading shots back and forth, Dean had his chance to run the table but he missed his last solid ball so you had to sink both of your striped balls and the eight ball to win. You had managed to get your last two balls in but the eight ball shot was going to be tough.
You were going to have to bounce it off the side and sink it on the opposite side pocket, it was a shot you’ve taken a thousand times but you hated to lose so it still made you nervous every time you had to drain that shot.
The cue ball hit the eight ball with force, propelling it into the wall, it bounced back toward you and dropped into the side pocket. A perfect shot.
“Son of a bitch! You hustled me, sweetheart!” He shouted.
Batting your eyelashes at him, you sarcastically answered, “I am offended you would actually think that. And I don’t appreciate your accusatory remarks. Ok maybe I hustled you just a little bit.”
You snaked your arms around Dean’s neck, looked up at him through your long dark lashes, and leaned in to kiss him. With his hands firmly on your waist, he kissed you back, parting your lips with his tongue, and growling slightly against your mouth. He knew he was beat in more ways than one.
“Unfair, baby.” He said, pulling away slightly with a wry grin tugging at the corners of his mouth.
Looking over at the dance floor, you saw everyone line dancing. You had always wanted to try it but never had the chance to. The life of a hunter never stopped, there was always another case so living a normal life was still very new to you but you finally had the chance to try something new that looked like a lot of fun.
“You wanna try it with me!?” You asked emphatically.
Dean shook his head.
“Nope. You go ahead though, baby. I’ll be here drinking my beer.” He said.
With a shrug, you took off toward the dance floor and followed along with everyone. Glancing over at Dean, he watched you with a big smile on his face while sipping on his beer.
You really were having the best time until you noticed a youngerwoman with blonde hair in a tight red dress walk over and startto chat with your boyfriend. Dean still kept his eyes on you while the woman tried to pull his gaze toward her but he wasn’t taking the bait.
His eyes were firmly looking at you and when she tried to stand in his line of sight, he just moved which gave you butterflies in your stomach. However, you still didn’t like what you were watching.
The mystery blonde woman was not taking the hint so you decided to intervene.
“Hey handsome! Who’s this?” You said, kissing Dean on the cheek as he handed you your beer.
Before Dean could answer, the woman responded in a cocky tone, “I’m Christy. I think your boyfriend is the most handsome man I’ve ever seen and I want to take him home.”
The sultry look in her eyes told you that this wasn’t the first time she had tried this little act. Used to getting her way, she was almost surprised Dean wasn’t jumping at the chance to go with her.
“This is what I’ve been dealin’ with while you were out there dancin’.” Said Dean with a look of “help me” on his face.
A fake laugh escaped your lips as you said, “Well…CHRISTY…as you just said, he’s MY boyfriend and he’s going home with me so I suggest you just call it a night and leave. It’s probably past your bedtime anyway.”
Reaching for the knife in your boot, Dean stepped in between you and the other woman after you tried to invade her space.
“Sweetheart, I am REALLY turned on right now but I don’t want to have to bail you outta jail. Leave that knife in your boot, ok?” Dean whispered in your ear with a slight growl.
He was right. It probably wasn’t the best idea to get into a fight while out on a date although it wouldn’t have been the first time you pulled your knife on someone at a bar but serves her right for making you jealous.
You left your knife sheathed inside your boot and you firmly told Christy to leave. She finally did, grudgingly and you and Dean finally got back to enjoying your night out but that feeling of jealousy still sat in the pit of your stomach.
The band started to play a slow song, you watched as couples walked out onto the dance floor hand in hand and fondly looked out as they swayed back and forth with each other.
“C’mon baby, let’s dance.” Said Dean.
With a slight frown, you reluctantly took his hand as he led you to the dance floor, but you had a hard time looking at him as you were a little embarrassed by your behavior.
“I’m sorry, Dean.” You said softly.
He narrowed his eyes and pressed his lips together as he replied, “Sorry? For what?”
“I shouldn’t have acted that way. She just…tried to…” You started to say.
“…Take what was yours?” He questioned.
You blurted out, “No…no that’s not what I…You’re not mine to…” You trailed off.
The song that the band was playing was Strawberry Wine.
Strawberry wine and seventeen
The hot July moon saw everything
My first taste of love, whoa-oh bittersweet
And green on the vine
Like strawberry wine and seventeen
The hot July moon saw everything
My first taste of love, oh, bittersweet
And green on the vine
Like strawberry wine
“I just got jealous, baby. I’m sorry.” You said, swiping a tear off of your cheek.
Dean kissed your forehead, and replied, “Don’t be sorry, sweetheart. I’m all yours and no one else’s, ok?”
I still remember
When thirty was old
And my biggest fear was September
when he had to go
A few cards and letters and one long distance call
We drifted away like the leaves in the fall
But year after year I come back to this place
Just to remember the taste
Of strawberry wine and seventeen
The hot July moon saw everything
My first taste of love, whoa-oh, bittersweet
Green on the vine
Like strawberry wine
“Also…you have any idea how hot that was that you were ready to pull a knife on her?” He purred in your ear.
That made you laugh.
“Thank you for tonight, Dean. I love you.” You said as you delicately pressed your lips to his.
The fields have grown over now
Years since they've seen the plow
There's nothing time hasn't touched
Is it really him or the loss of my innocence?
I've been missing so much
He enveloped one of your hands inside of his and held it close to his chest. His green eyes looked like fresh spring leaves, the laugh lines around his eyes made him look quite distinguished, and the freckles on his nose looked as though they were sprinkled there like paint splattered onto a blank wall.
“I love you too, sweetheart. I hope I did alright for our first date.” He said.
Smiling against his chest, you said, “You did more than alright, baby.”
Dean’s fingers delicately skipped up and down your back as he held you while you danced together. The scent of stale beer and peanuts hung in the air while the faint scent of his cologne clung to his shirt; you almost forgot music was actually playing.
His lips collided with yours as he cupped your cheeks, you gasped against his mouth and tightly clung to him like you didn’t want to let him go.
“You mind if we take a detour on the way home?” He asked with a sly smile.
Confused, you replied, “A detour? Where?”
“I’m still half hard thinkin’ about you with that knife in your boot. Thought maybe we could practice making a sibling for Charlie, and show you what Baby’s spacious back seat looks like.” Dean said with a wink.
Glancing down at the floor, you bit down on your bottom lip and then replied, “Spacious huh? It doesn’t look that big. And they do say practice makes perfect.”
“It’s bigger than you think.” Said Dean with one corner of his mouth turned up and raised eyebrows.
His words sent delightful shivers down your spine but also brought tears to your eyes.
Dean didn’t forget what Charlie had asked for and maybe he did think about you actually becoming a part of their little family and the possibility of making it just a little bit bigger. The thought of having a family never crossed your mind until you met Dean and Charlie, even Sam.
You thought being a hunter was your path of life but maybe it was time to drive down a different path, time to start doing more things that made you happy, and make new memories with people that love you.
But for now, your first date had turned out better than you ever thought it could be.

Mick Schumacher x Fem!Reader
Warnings: both mick and angie have no patience, reader is so over it, the pains that are family photos, matching outfits, boat loads of patience needed, a cute moment in the end.
Word Count: 576
Author's Note: it's not mick without angie and it's not a blurb with the two of them together.
--
Angie, much like her human father, hated to sit still for photos. Imagine the struggle to get both Schumachers to sit for a holiday card.
Neither of them wanted to sit still.
Angie was running circles around the living room. Her little red and black flannel neck bandana bounced over her thick fur as she ran. Mick, who wasn't looking too overjoyed himself, was sitting on the couch, his flannel shirt wrinkled now.
"Can you get her, Mick?" You asked your boyfriend, slowly losing your patience.
It was your idea after all, suggesting you 3 take a family photo for his mom and so you could have something for the holiday cards. It would be rather weird if you just gave up.
Mick huffs, calling out to Angie. The dog comes running over to Mick, rubbing herself against his legs as he sat on the floor with her. "Hurry up, she's gonna get impatient." He tells you.
You bite back the urge to roll your eyes. "You sure she's the only impatient one?"
Mick cracks a smile, "like father, like daughter."
You stood in front of the two of them, Mick and Angie in front of the Christmas tree as he tried to fix her bandana.
"Smile!" You tell him, somehow that gets Angie to sit still for one second but Mick wasn't looking at the camera. When Mick finally turns, Angie's attention shifts, licking the man's cheek instead.
"Angie!" He groans, wiping off his cheek with the sleeve of your shirt.
You figured you'd try your luck before they both got flustered and ran off. You propped the phone up on the coffee table, setting it to record before smoothing your dress, red to match with Angie and Mick.
The puppy was between the two of you, Angie wagging her tail around, excited about all the attention on her for a moment. Both of you have got your arms over her, smiling at each other.
Mick's attention drops for a moment, trying to fix his shirt and as soon as he moves his hand, Angie goes running off.
"Well, we aren't getting her back, are we?" You asked him and he shook his head, pulling you into his side. The two of you stay for a moment, smiling at each other, almost as if you had forgotten all about the camera on the table.
Angie had found her spot by the fireplace when everyone settled, curled up as you and Mick did the same on the couch. He was watching reruns of some old German show on tv while you attempted to get a good screenshot of you three.
There were a few cute ones of you and Mick already but the ones with Angie took a bit more finesse.
Eventually, you manage to find a good one amidst the madness; you two looking at each other, big smiles on your faces with your arms over Angie, who by some miracle, was looking at the camera.
"Look," you tell him, showing him your phone. Mick smiles in approval, "yeah, that's the one."
"Thought so too," you smiled back at him, his lips pressed to yours before he turned back to the tv.

Megumi x Childhood Bestie!Reader Hcs
I've seen too many of these and needed to write a few heh ive actually never written hcs before so this is my first time 😅 kinda a slow burn?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
so first of all you were tsumiki's bestie because I haven't seen a hc like that yet (PLEASE I NEEDA SEE ONE OF THESE-)
and we'll also make fushi's mom besties with your mom
so now you two are besties since you were in diapers
and you were a very grabby baby and Fushiguro's hair is as wild as carpaccios from mashle-
(sorry not sorry)
so you'd just grab at his hair and pull it all the time which would annoy the hell out of him
which would then somehow end up in you two fighting
AS BABIES
and then your mother's would have to calm you down
and after the whole toji and mother fushiguro went bye bye your mom took in megumi and tsumiki
so now timeskip you're both 6 years old and just walking together from who knows where
and if you thought you grew out of these grabby tendencies no you're either grabbing his hair or his sleeve
yes it still annoys the hell out of him but you do it for shits and giggles
and then on this fine day you just happen to run into the gojo satoru
LMAO MY AUTOCORRECT ALMOST CAPITALIZED HIS NAME
anyway this guy is making his ever so iconic face like 'bro reminds me of his dad-'
anyway gojo doesn't know who you are so you're just standing there awkwardly behind megumi while you're now gripping his backpack
and you're just glaring at gojo for no reason at all for sure just thinking 'who the hell is this weird ahh man with hair like he's in his 70s tryna kidnap megumi 🤨🤨'
and ofc megumi pulls the 'what about my sister' card
and after the whole negotiation with megumi he turns to you and is like 'you can come along too ig'
and ofc you watch megumi so you pull the 'what about my parents' card
gojo's like 😀
anyway you somehow end up going to school with megumi and tsumiki and first day kindergarten no surprise you guys are the new kids
everyone I mean EVERYONE loves tsumiki ofc
a partial reason is because of you and megumi glaring at the people who you think are looking at her a lil funny
like sir ma'am CHILD how dare you
anyway you have a pretty peaceful elementary school
you do pick fights with megumi though
...and a whole lotta other people
you stopped in middle school but looks like megumi picked it up instead because yk he beat up a hefty amount of people
you stanned him for that
also hyping him up from the back
"YEAHH MEGUMI BEAT THEIR ASS"
"shut up."
"no."
".."
"anyway YOU GO MEGUMI BEAT EM UP-"
"sHUT-"
so that was pretty eventful but tsumiki did not approve which caused you to sulk next to megumi
but then yk she went to the cliff and shit went down real fast
tsumiki got cursed, you entered your depressed angsty teenager era, and megumi became emo. more so than he was before
"oh my god its worse than they thought- they made him EMO-"
^ thats megumi now but we all like pretty emo bois so
wItH tHeIr bLaCk hAiR aNd gReEn oRbS-
too bad megumi has blue eyes
>>>>>>
see this is why asians don't have blue eyes we'd be too powerful
anyway back to this you two finish middle school all swandy dandy but a lil depressed
oh and I don't think I mentioned you two got into a fight bc of tsumiki's sickness
like-
megumi: you're closer to tsumiki bc you two are girls why didn't you stop her from pulling random crap whatever she did to make her sick
you: BITCH you blaming ME? you wanna go?
yeah basically you two got into a stupid argument but oh well its fine bc gojo forced you two to talk again and yay you're talking again
and now first year into jujutsu tech you and megumi are the only students so you're still poking and grabbing him all the time
you did it less in middle school
I think we know why
like you're in the car going to a mission- his hairs being tugged
got off the car and walking his sleeve being tugged
everthing
literally everthing
my bros grown immune to it though so he doesn't really mind
he kinda likes it now but will never admit it
so let's say before you got ranked up and all your arm almost got blown off by a curse
needless to say tsumiki's accident really hit him hard so this hit him harder and when I say he got angry he got ANGRY ASF DUDE
like he freakin obliterated the damn curse
he also made it pretty painful
if you even can
and let his demon dogs casually eat it up
and you're just there like 👏👁️👄👁️
"it's not that deep bro-"
"yes it is"
gojo was very proud though
and now you're with him stalking itadori and you're like
woah
*1 braincell working*
itadori = fast
fast = speed
I am speed
ITADORI = LIGHTNING MCQUEEN
kachow
and when you finally confront your stalkee with megumi and itadori's like
"uh I'm mourning rn"
you're just
"thats great and all dude I totally feel you but you're gonna be mourning even more if we don't get our asses to your school"
you did not want to host multiple funerals
so you all speed ran to his school
and whoopsie doosies you're with megumi and itadori makes an entrance like the main character he is
and when my bro eats that finger
and gojo pops up
he throws the kikufuku at megumi
but its okay hope you have a good day imma send you bout 850-
LMAO SORRY
you steal the kikufuku from megumi and eat one as if its popcorn
well you're watching gojo and sukuna fight rn
and you accidentally admit out loud that sukuna's hot
and then megumi low-key side eyes you
BUT THEN HE STARTS FULL ON GLARING AT SUKUNA
bc how dare he some random goofy ahh old mf misongnyistic tatooed dude just steal your attention so casually
he's full on disgusted when he's face to face with sukuna
yes you notice this
you're like
"ooh did somebody get a crush on a thousand year old curse-"
"wtf no get some help"
its the opposite lmao but you don't know that
so then itadori turns back to normal gojo goes boop and he goes to sleep
and now you're here sitting next to megumi, eating Gojo's kikufuku and having the time of your life
holy this is so long imma do a part 2
fun fact my autocorrect always changes sukuna into skunk 🦨
smelly sukuna
It Ain’t Easy | Ethan Edwards
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
summary: love would be a whole lot easier if your brothers were all on board with your boyfriend.
request: yes/no
warnings: swearing, 4:00am slightly edited writing 😭
word count: 1.63k
authors note: this is the official last piece before we start working on the December works. This is less than perfect because I tried to get this done beforehand, so let’s all play nice.
Tumblr media
When Luke left Michigan he never thought that you’d end up dating one of his friends.
Sure you were twins and in the same friend group but the idea of you and one of his previous teammates was truly not something Luke even contemplated. Had he asked his ex housemates to keep an eye on you? Yes. Did he think that it would end up biting him in the ass as you rocked up to the lake house for the summer before your senior year with a boyfriend? Never in a million years, but somehow he was still sat there watching you cuddle Ethan on the couch.
You thought you struck the lottery dating a guy that your brothers already approved of. Ethan treated you well and after months of growing closer as you leaned on the older boy whenever you missed your brother it was no surprise when he finally made a move on you.
It was a warm February evening as Ethan walked you back to your dorm “you know you don’t have to do this every time we leave.” Without fail each time you came home from these parties Ethan was by your side keeping you company “someone has to make sure you get back in one piece.” The hockey player teased as he wrapped his arm around your shoulders.
You looked up at him with a smile “well thank you for that.” You squeezed his hand as your heels clicked against the concrete path “I’m gonna have to find someone new to walk me home when you get a girl.” You joked letting out a giggle that was like music to Ethan’s ears as you both stopped seeing your dormitory appear in front of you.
Ethan scrunched his face in disgust at those words “not interested in those girls.” He explained shaking his head “didn’t know I’d be fighting men for you.” Amusement was evident on your voice as you crossed your arms.
It made Ethan click his tongue as a laugh left his lips “y/n I’m looking at the damn girl I want.” His words made you stop with wide eyes as your jaw went slack “you better not be fucking with me E.” you warned as the boy reached out to grab your hands with a smile lingering on his face.
Before either of your could wait for wind to push you two together you instead let fate do it “you gonna let me kiss you?” The hockey player asked as he smiled “fuck yeah.” You swore pushing yourself onto your tippy toes so you could kiss him.
Over the next few months the relationship blossomed into the thing that became both of your missing pieces to the puzzle that was your lives. As you kept it to yourselves only letting images hinting to who your boyfriend could have been appear as they got sandwiched into your monthly dumps.
Quinn accepted that you’d eventually tell him who the boy was but what he didn’t think was that Jack and Luke would spend the days leading to the family trip to the lake house with a board guessing who your boyfriend could be.
The umich boys had been sworn to secrecy as you didn’t want to just tell Luke over the phone. Yet as you watched your brothers guide Ethan to the boat you wondered if maybe you should have told the boys sooner “they will play nice I’m sure of it.” Ellen could see the look of worry on her daughters face who could do nothing more than send her daughter a hopeful look that your mom was right.
But of course the Hughes brothers were fulfilling their brotherly duties as they stared down Ethan quickly bombarding him with questions about his intentions. Everything from if he saw himself being in a relationship for the long term with you to what he would do if you got pregnant. Any question they all seemed to not care that it was maybe a bit too far to be asking because as messed up as it seemed in essence they wanted to know if Ethan loved you enough to stay when they got scary.
Luke barely said a few words to his friend as he was still upset that Ethan could have gone behind his back to get with you. So as you helped Ellen start dinner Ethan was actually figuring out the quickest way to get off of the boat “you’re back!” The relieve in your voice was evident as you wiped your hands on the kitchen towel and sped to the living room “baby?” You added furrowing your eyebrows as you saw Ethan with a frown on his face “we need to talk.” His hand wrapped into yours as he pulled you to the staircase.
You couldn’t help it as you turned around to send your brothers a glare who could do nothing more than smile “please tell me you boys didn’t do what I think you did.” Ellen sighed as she crossed her arms behind them. Ethan made your heart break as he began pulling his clothes back into his suitcase “could you just talk to me!” You complained making him frown as he stopped “your brothers hate me so it’s for the best if I go.” His words made you feel sick as you furrowed your brows.
Part of you wanted to grow defensive and irritated as the other part of you just hoped to wake up from whatever this was “I know they’re tough but you’re really going to leave because they asked you a couple of questions?” You knew what your brothers were like but you thought Ethan of all people would have survived it.
Your irritation quickly became his too “it wasn’t just a couple fucking questions.” Ethan spat shaking his head “look I love you but I’m not gonna sit here and have my every move questioned for the next two weeks.” Tears began to form in your waterline “maybe we should take a break.” His fingers brushed through his hair as he sighed.
It felt like your world was coming to an end as it dropped off of a ledge “god I thought you were gonna be good.” You didn’t mean to be as harsh as you were but seeing him so ready to leave was a punch to your gut “they’re just protective it’ll blow over!” Your fists clenched “look they are important to you and I think you need to spend time with them.” Ethan cupped your cheeks as he leaned forward to kiss your head.
Maybe you didn’t agree with his logic but you knew that it was only going to end in an argument and for that you kept your mouth shut “I’ll see you out then.” Ethan had to admit that he was partly hurt that you weren’t putting up a fight for him but if only he knew you were holding all of this back because you didn’t want to make this harder.
And you had a sneaky suspicion that your brothers were stood at the door.
As you watched the car roll down the drive you couldn’t help it as you turned to glare at the boys “could you not let me be happy?” You frowned as you looked at your brothers who sat on the couch.
Quinn was the first to shake his head “we are just making sure you’re safe.” He pointed out as Jack nodded “we know hockey players and we know you.” That comment enraged you as you scoffed crossing your arms “you boys don’t know shit!” You hated saying it but you had fallen away from your brothers as they all became NHL players.
You would never admit it but you felt left behind as their lives “last season you all managed to forget my birthday when I fucking share one with you!” You pointed at Luke making him slide further into his seat on the couch.
The boys weren’t proud of the fact that it took a call from Ellen to make them remember that it was the youngest Hughes kids birthday too “Ethan reminds me how to smile and how to be happy.” Tears streamed down your face as the boys finally realised how they had screwed up “y/n.” Quinn was the first to keep up wanting to apologise “just stay out of my way for the rest of summer please.” You were the one sibling who never got mad, Jack broke your toys more times than you could count as a kid but you never lashed out. Luke cut your hair once and all you did was laugh.
But here you were now in tears as you could barley look at your brothers as you pushed up the stairs to your room. Quinn looked down to his younger brothers “we fucked up.” He mumbled falling back into the couch “like big time.” He frowned thinking about how upset you had gotten.
It was clear that all of the boys hadn’t noticed how much they actually pushed away from their sister. With Luke being at school with you they didn’t need to make the effort, so when he went the gap in your life truly begun to show. You were always going to be supportive of them but it felt like you were losing your boys.
Jack led the trio to the door “where are you going?” Ellen furrowed her brows as she watched the boys slip on their shoes “someone has to go get y/n’s boy back for her.” Luke sighed agreeing with his brothers that they all took things too far with Ethan “Quinn is upstairs apologising to y/n.” He added motioning to the steps.
The Hughes boys had a plan.
“Your mom hates me.” Elain tipped her head back against the passenger seat headrest and closed her eyes against the bright light of the full moon. Graysen’s foot pressed down on the gas pedal, sending them flying faster down the freeway towards his apartment. She couldn’t bear to look at him. Couldn’t bear to see the disappointment in his eyes, the tension in his jaw. She had one job tonight and she’d failed miserably.
“I told you to make sure you cleaned yourself up after work.” Graysen’s voice was low, barely audible over the sound of the road. His gaze stayed fixed straight ahead - as if he couldn’t stand to even glance in her direction.
Hot tears pricked at the corner of Elain’s eyes, threatening to spill. She didn’t know why she’d bothered to hope that maybe he’d try to reassure her, that he’d say something to make her feel better or to let her know that it didn’t matter to him whether or not his parents approved of his new girlfriend. It shouldn’t have surprised her that all she got was blame even if she had spent an hour in the bathroom after work, carefully pinning her hair into place and making sure her makeup was done just right.
She didn’t know how she’d failed to notice the smear of dark crimson juice that had dried on the side of her hand or how she’d forgotten to scrub off the smudge of dirt that had somehow made its way onto the side of her neck but Graysen and his mother had both certainly noticed.
It had been the first two things he had pointed out seconds after Elain slid into his car earlier,  foolishly expecting a compliment on her dress - one of his favourites -  only for her faults to be pointed out instead.
He’d found those things endearing once upon a time, in the early days of their relationship, back when he’d come by the apothecary after closing and crowd her up against the door or the counter. It used to be a game between them - kisses pressed along her wrists, shoulders, and neck until he could correctly guess which fruits or herbs she’d been working with that day.
She didn’t know when it had all changed but she supposed it was only to be expected given just how quickly things had progressed between them in the first place.
Elain had met Graysen a couple months after she’d moved to Meadowview.
She’d sworn off boys and deleted all her apps. The intention had been to take some time for herself for the first time in her entire adult life and figure out what the hell she was doing. But the universe seemingly had other plans because one week before Thanksgiving, Graysen approached Elain in the wine aisle of her local grocery store.
She’d seen him for the first time a few weeks before that. He’d been studying the bottles of wine on the top shelf and she’d caught him sneaking glances in her direction as she half heartedly scanned the lower shelves looking for something good and cheap. They’d exchanged a few coy smiles, a casual wave in greeting or farewell, but never anything more. It wasn’t until they’d ended up in the same aisle at the same time for the third week in a row that Graysen finally decided to make his move.
Elain had seen it coming from a mile away. She’d caught that initial spark of interest the very first time their eyes had met two weeks prior and she’d seen the determination in the set of his shoulders when he turned the corner that night and saw her crouched down as she tried to decide between two bottles of wine.  She wasn’t even a little bit surprised when she shifted her gaze from the wine in her hands to see the supple leather shoes that had stepped into place beside her, standing in stark contrast to her own dirt streaked, worn white sneakers.
She’d slowly dragged her eyes up to see him looking down at her with a confident and obviously practiced smile - one that Elain figured he’d used on countless women over the years, easily charming them into a date or into his bed.
Graysen was tall and lean with sandy hair cropped close to his scalp and bright blue eyes that seemed to pierce straight through her. He was impeccably dressed - always in a well tailored shirt and pants with cufflinks neatly pinned to his sleeves and an expensive, probably designer, belt wrapped around his waist.
He’d introduced himself to her after she stood up on wobbly legs and Elain had found herself falling victim to that easy charm. She’d said yes to a drink with him - yes to a drink with this complete stranger - perhaps out of boredom, perhaps as a way to distract herself from the memories that continued to haunt her of her life back home, of the loss of her father, and the friend that had been there for her in the weeks after - the one that hadn’t so much as batted an eye as she ruined his t-shirts with the salt from her tears.
She’d gone out with Graysen for a drink that Saturday night and it had been… fine.
Graysen was wonderfully vanilla. Perfectly predictable. He had a routine and he stuck to it. He was just like all the other guys she tended to date - guys that were so far removed from her actual type. Which when she really thought about it, came down to just one particular man with broad shoulders and hazel eyes flecked with green if you only got close enough to notice.
She’d felt so neutral about Graysen that she hadn’t been particularly interested in seeing him again after that first night. Their date had lasted a few hours. He’d showed off by ordering an extensive bottle of wine and then explaining the various notes and flavours to her in extensive detail. He told her about his job but hadn’t really asked about hers. He hadn’t really asked her much at all that night, when she thought about it. She’d given him a kiss on the cheek and sent him on his way at the end of the night, telling him that she’d be going out of town soon but maybe they could catch up for another drink or dinner when she got back.
She had no intention of actually following through on that until she’d gone back home and royally fucked everything up by acting on a long suppressed impulse and ending her Christmas tangled in the sheets of her best friend’s bed.
What happened with Azriel was the exact reminder Elain needed that she’d been right to avoid being alone with him in the months leading up to Christmas. It was also the reminder she needed that she’d gone from relationship to relationship when she lived back home for a reason. Because even then, before the idea of Azriel being anything more than a friend had taken root in her mind, she’d somehow subconsciously known that dating someone else was the only way to keep her from falling hard and fast for him.
She’d called upon that go-to tactic once again when she’d returned back to Meadowview and decided that a distraction was extremely necessary and long overdue because just a few months of being single had sent her running into Azriel’s arms not once, but twice.
Graysen had been the obvious option. One quick text and Elain was on the road to moving forward. At least that’s what she tried to tell herself.
Elain had taken it upon herself to figure out exactly what Graysen was looking for in a girl quite early into knowing him and she’d adjusted herself accordingly - quickly and easily falling into an all too familiar routine of molding herself to be whatever someone wanted or expected her to be. She’d done it for her parents, for her sister, for her friends. And she most certainly did it for the men she dated.
She’d always excelled at it. She knew exactly how to tailor herself to be what a man desired and she’d been fine tuning her skills from a young age, leaning into the covertness of being just a pretty face. She knew how to stay quiet and be demure. She knew to let them take the spotlight, knew when to laugh at their jokes. To let them kiss her but to hold back on sex just long enough to keep them wanting more.
She’d done it all with Graysen - knew that he would love the idea of taking a pretty girl who was just a little bit rough around the edges and putting her in a sophisticated dress and expensive jewelry. Knew he’d like that she was  quiet with only a few friends so that she could dedicate all her spare time to him. She’d leaned into the bit of her personality that she knew he’d love and shoved every other part of her to the side until even she forgot that they’d ever existed. She’d done it so effectively and efficiently that he’d wanted to parade her around his friends and high flying colleagues mere weeks after she’d sent him that first text.
It was supposed to be casual. It was supposed to be like all her other previous relationships that were really nothing more than just the occasional dinner and sex a few times a week until they inevitably saw through her lack of commitment and called it off. It certainly wasn’t supposed to go as far as meeting his parents and she definitely hadn’t thought that she’d ever agree to introducing him - or anyone else she’d dated - to her family.
But here they were, three months and one disastrous dinner later.
Elain had never met Graysen’s parents before but she’d heard stories and she’d seen the photos that dotted his swanky apartment in the heart of the city. She’d known just from the look of them - the severe posture and those clinical smiles - that she could expect them to be just like their son.
She’d been nervous to meet them but she’d been somewhat confident that she could charm them in the same way that she’d charmed Graysen and all the other men before him. She’d been wrong, so very wrong.
Graysen’s father had been alright. He hadn’t said much to her other than a hello and a murmured  interesting that dripped in condescension after she’d informed them that she worked at an apothecary running soap making workshops and lecturing patrons on the many intricacies of herbal teas. His mother, however, hadn’t even tried to hide her distaste. Elain wondered if it wasn’t so much a personal vendetta against her specifically or something broader - a preordained disdain for any girl her only son might’ve brought to meet her.
Veronica had stared daggers at Elain for the better part of two hours - the same piercing blue eyes as her son shamelessly cataloging Elain’s black dress, one she’d spent a good chunk of her paycheck on when she’d clued into the types of restaurants and venues that Graysen liked to frequent and realised that her thrifted flowy skirts and dresses wouldn’t suffice. She’d noticed the tight frown on the woman’s thin lips as she marked the chipped red nail polish on Elain’s index finger along with that smear of cherry juice along the side of her palm. That frown had only increased each time she spoke and Veronica realised that her perfect, accomplished only son had brought a girl with two dead parents and an unfinished college degree to meet her.
Elain ran her thumb along the chain of her necklace, pressing the pad of her finger into the engraved rose as she tried to figure out how she could possibly salvage this evening but with each mile marker they passed, she only found herself withdrawing further and further into herself until all the light had left Graysen’s eyes and the grip of the hand he had on the steering wheel had turned his knuckles white.
For twenty minutes, she sat in the car and rehashed every second, trying to figure out what she could’ve done better. Had she talked too much? Too little? Laughed too loud like she had a tendency to do when she got nervous?
They were almost back to his apartment when she felt his attention on her again. Elain raised her eyes to his just as his hand fell to her thigh, fingers pressing in lightly through the satin of her dress.
“Lain,” Graysen started.
“I told you not to call me that.” Elain interrupted him.  Only one person had ever used that nickname for her and she couldn’t stand the sound of it from anyone else, but especially not from another man. She’d made that clear to Graysen in their first few weeks together.
“El,” Graysen corrected himself, sighing in frustration before he continued. “My mom can be extremely critical but she’ll come around.”
“You didn’t even try, Gray. You didn’t even try to defend me or anything.”
“I know. I should have said something but I was just frustrated because I told you to clean up and I thought you’d answer their questions -”
“You’re turning it on me again,” Elain pinched the bridge of her nose. “What did you want me to do? Lie about my career? Tell them that I grew up like you did?”.
“No, I just… fuck, I just wanted them to like you because I… I love you.” Graysen paused, reaching for her hand. “You know I love you. Don’t you, El?”
Elain’s heart dropped and she tensed under his grip as a flood of indecipherable feelings hit her.
This wasn’t the first time she’d received a halfhearted apology from him after he’d hurt her feelings and she suspected it wouldn’t be the last. At least this time the apology had come directly from him in a timely manner instead of being delivered as a note written by someone else and attached to an overpriced bouquet of flowers or yet another necklace that would sit on her dresser untouched for months to come.
“I know, it’s fine.” She finally said, bringing his hand up to her lips and pressing a kiss to the back of his palm. He’d told her he loved her a few times now but she’d never said it back. Not when she couldn’t quite return the sentiment. Instead, she waited for him to pull into the driveway and put the car in park before she leant over the center console and slid her hand up his neck to tilt his face towards hers for a slow, deep kiss.
Once he pulled away, forehead against hers, chest rising and falling unsteadily, Elain laughed under her breath and gently tapped the sliver of skin visible where he’d undone the first couple of buttons on his crisp, white shirt. “Maybe my sisters will hate you and then we can call it even.”
A small part of her regretted the pettiness of the words but she couldn’t help but allow herself to make the joke, not after the night they’d had. Luckily for her, it seemed that her kiss had done enough to diffuse the situation because he didn’t come back with a sharp retort of his own. Just a huff of breath and a small shake of his head as he turned the engine off.
Two weeks. She had two weeks until she had to make good on her panicked decision to go home for Nyx’s fifth birthday and then the accompanying panicked agreement she’d made when Graysen suggested accompanying her on the trip in front of his parents.
Elain pushed the thought from her mind. She couldn't think about all that would entail. What going back home would now look like. How much more anxious she felt about it now compared to her last trip back home because now she had an actual reason to be nervous.
It wasn’t enough to be faced with the predicament of potentially seeing Azriel again but this time she had to do it while pretending that they hadn’t done what they’d done… and she’d have to do it all with her new boyfriend watching as a front row spectator.
She’d never once introduced any of the guys she’d dated to her family. Never once had they stepped foot into her house or shaken her father’s hand. Not a single one of them had ever been subjected to the scrutiny of Nesta’s menacing gaze.
But she couldn’t very well say anything to deter him now. She’d gotten herself into this hole and now there was no way out.
She knew it was a stupid decision to take him back home with her but a small, reckless part of her wondered if this wasn’t for the best because even after months of establishing a relationship with Graysen in the hopes of erasing what she’d done with Azriel, it was a lost cause.
 It wasn’t even the memory of his skin under her palms that hurt the most, it was everything else she’d lost as a result of crossing that line.
It felt like she was missing a huge chunk of herself. There were empty spaces in her life where Azriel used to be and as much as she’d tried to fill in those gaps with someone else, it just wasn’t the same. She still found herself checking her phone first thing in the morning to see if he’d texted her. She missed seeing his picture pop up on her phone when he called. The random photos of Shadow he used to send her and the constant stream of conversation between them. All their inside jokes. She found reminders of him everywhere and it was hell to keep pretending like she was fine with it all. To keep pretending that anyone else would ever be able to understand her the way Azriel had.
But she’d done this. She’d made that first move and ruined something that had been so natural and easy.
Maybe it was best to take Graysen back home and put the final nail in the coffin because with any luck,  introducing someone to her family - to Azriel - would make this all real and would force her to move on once and for all.
…
Azriel sat at Feyre and Rhys’s kitchen counter, woefully tossing MnMs at their toddler who was trying - and failing - to catch them in his mouth.
He’d been spending the last few weeks like this, trailing Rhysand’s family like a lost puppy because he simply had nothing better to do with his life.
It’d been just over three months since he’d woken up to an empty bed after what he might’ve deemed to be the best night of his life had it not all gone to hell and while he thought it would get easier with time, it most certainly hadn’t.
Every day was the same. Wake up, walk Shadow, work out with Cassian, log in to work and stare at a screen for hours on end, walk Shadow again, go to bed. Rinse. Repeat.
He’d tried all his old tactics of distractions but no amount of drinking in his local bar or aimlessly flirting with whatever girl inevitably sauntered up to him could ease the ache that had taken root in his chest. He hadn’t been able to be with anyone else since that night. He’d tried - just once - a couple weeks after Christmas, and it had ended with him abruptly pulling away from a half naked, very confused girl just as she’d reached for his belt. He’d apologised profusely and left her apartment promptly to go back to his own house and contemplate how he’d gone from a regular rotation of casual hookups to not even being able to kiss a girl without thinking about Elain.
Really, he shouldn’t have been surprised because Elain was all he ever thought about. Every day. Every night. Each time he flipped over his phone just to check if maybe she’d decided to break her silence. He’d been torturing himself endlessly like this for months now to no avail.
It’s why - when he heard Feyre mention Elain’s name in passing as she spoke to Rhys- he found himself speaking before he could even think to stop himself.
“How’s she been?” He asked, trying desperately to keep his voice level as he reminded himself that there was nothing unusual about asking after a friend.
Still, Rhys gave him one of those looks that he’d been giving him for years at the slightest mention of his wife’s older sister. He wondered if Rhys would go into cardiac arrest if he ever found out exactly what Azriel had done with his friend’s beloved sister-in-law.
“She’s good!” Feyre gave him a bright smile. “I actually spoke to her yesterday for the first time in weeks.”
There was nothing on her face to hint that she knew exactly why he was asking. He certainly hadn’t said anything to her after Christmas. He’d kept what happened to himself. Had only casually asked Nesta about her sister’s whereabouts just to be told that Elain had needed to leave because of an emergency at work.
“Oh, that’s good.” Azriel returned her smile with a small one of his own.
“She’s coming back for a visit in a couple weeks.” Feyre continued, her smile faltering ever so slightly.
Azriel stilled.
“For Nyx’s birthday,” Rhys chimed in, once again carefully studying Azriel before he continued. “And she’s bringing… what’s his name, again?”
“Graysen.” Feyre nodded, raising up onto her tiptoes and then back down again. It was a nervous habit of hers that Azriel had picked up on by the second or third time he’d hung out with her because she’d done it constantly around Rhys in those early days.
Graysen.
He could pretend that he’d never heard that name before but he’d be lying if he didn’t say he’d scrolled through Elain’s social media to find a picture of him the first time he’d heard Feyre and Nesta gossiping about some new guy Elain had been seeing back in January. He hadn’t found much, just a glimpse of blonde hair and an expensive watch in the background of a picture she’d taken while out to dinner..
He’d seen no sign of a man in any of her limited posts since then and he’d selfishly hoped that that had meant it hadn’t gone anywhere.
“He’s coming back with her? Here?” Azriel asked slowly, staring straight at Feyre while refusing to look at Rhys. He knew his friend’s eyes would be narrowed in suspicion.
A soft ringing filled Azriel’s ears as his heart slammed against his chest. He didn’t let any of it show on the outside, going out of his way to maintain that calm and collected mask he was known for. But it was dread that coursed through him. Dread that extinguished any hope and excitement he might have once felt at the prospect of Elain returning home.
“Yeah. It must be serious,” Feyre swallowed as she once again raised up onto her tiptoes and then back down again before she met Azriel’s eyes. He was usually so good at reading people but for the first time ever, he couldn’t quite put his thumb on what he saw in Feyre’s gaze as she looked at him. “If she’s actually willing to let us meet him.”
