Ah, New Yoke City.
By far, the worst city to have ever been created, even it's citizens agree.
Free speech? Not a thing.
Self expression?? What's that?
You're lucky to even take a shit in the city without a badnik watching you to make sure you don't shit in any way the leaders would consider 'Rebellious'.
It sucked. Completely.
But, hey!! It was home!
At least it was (Y/N)'s home--And (Y/N) had learned the hard way, it's better to just fall into place and shut up rather than rebel against the system or push against it. It wasn't easy to just try and take your autonomy back when the whole city was designed to keep everyone in check.
It wasn't too bad though, (Y/N) had learned to accept their position in this life and be the perfect little citizen. They'd wake up, go to work, contribute the bare minimum, then go home and if they were lucky, they might even be able to watch TV or do some hobbies without a badnik peering into their window to make sure they weren't plotting anything.
Their routine could bore themselves to tears at times, but it was much better than the alternative.
Speaking of their mundane schedule, guess what they were up to right now??
On the bright side, they didn't have to walk or drive to work--All they had to do was stand on the strange conveyor belt that replaced this cities roads--Though, now that they really dwell on it, that couldn't be good for their legs--
"Bah." (Y/N) shook their head, shaking away any of the thoughts that remained in it away, allowing them to blink back into reality. Immediately they were met with the same dull buildings, the same dull people, and the same dull scent of smog that hit their nose.
Great.
(Y/N) stole a quick glance around the city, taking notice to the familiar visuals that almost immediately clicked in their mind, as if the cities layout was programmed into their brain.
Oh, this was their stop.
Taking a step off of the conveyor belt, they quickly transitioned to the sidewalk where they were able to walk freely.
They half payed attention to their surroundings, though the other half of their attention was quickly stolen by the shitty music that played from the stores they passed.
They cringed, their nose scrunching up as the voice hit their ears. They didn't even need to listen to the lyrics to recognize it as one of Dr. Deep's many many songs.
'Be a tyrant all you please, but don't use it to subject me to the horror of your shitty song-poetry.' Was something that crossed (Y/N)'s mind, but they wouldn't dare vocalize for fear of getting killed where they stood for treason.
Like stated before, free speech was not a luxury they had.
(Y/N) let out a deep sigh, sucking it up and coping quietly with the shitty music as they made their way past the multiple stores until they came to one in particular, their work--AKA; A shitty gas station right next to an alley that smells like cat piss and over the counter drug store (Y/N) was sure didn't even sell any actual medicine.
Fiddling with the doorknobs for a bit they managed to shimmy it open, allowing for themselves to slip inside and get a look at the cash register to confirm that their coworker waited until they arrived to clock out. Lucky for them, he did.

Fiddling with the doorknobs for a bit they managed to shimmy it open, allowing for themselves to slip inside and get a look at the cash register to confirm that their coworker waited until they arrived to clock out. Lucky for them, he did.
"Look who finally decided to show up." Their coworker was quick to comment, which definitely didn't help (Y/N) with their mood in the slightest, and they were sure to show that in the glare they sent him.
"Watch yourself. I'm far too tired to banter right now." (Y/N) replied, and their exhaustion from waking extra early must've seeped through their tone cause their co-worker dropped it without another word.
"Are you okay?? You look like hell." Their coworker readjusted his cap, talking to (Y/N) as he moved to click himself out meanwhile (Y/N) walked up to slip behind the counter into their station.
"We're in hell, Jim--" (Y/N) cut themselves off at the sound of a badnik moving around on the outside of the shop, recording any conversations as per usual. "I mean...Just grand. Live, laugh, love or some bullshit like that." (Y/N) groaned, rolling their eyes which earned a chuckle out of Jim. who stepped up to the counter.
"Here, it's on the house." Jim dropped a coffee by (Y/N)'s cash register, making the animal cock a brow at the item. "I knew you had a early shift today so I decided to get you one when I stopped by the Yoke's brewery." (Y/N) must've looked up at the man as if he were the reincarnation of God at that moment.
"You are a godsend, man." They said gratefully, earning a bashful grin from the man and him averting his gaze.
"It was nothin', really." Jim changed the conversation, flustered from the attention on the small act of kindness. "Any who, I'm gonna hit the road. Anything goes wrong, give me a ring." He made a 'call me' signal with his hand when stating ringing before turning on his heel and taking his leave from the shop.
(Y/N) let out a sigh, watching the retreating figure before glancing down at the coffee he gave them. A soft smile curled upon their face, relief that even though today was going to be a long and stressful one, at least they had something to help get them through it.
With that thought, they picked up the cup and took a sip out of it, only for their soft and happy features to immediately fall into a grimace.
The coffee was ice-cold.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Just as (Y/N) suspected, the night went by slow, almost torturously so.
Customers were sparce, and even when they did show up it was either just to use the bathroom or to look around and end up buying nothing.
The cleaning that they had to do could almost be considered a military recognized torture mechanism--And don't get them started on the constant noises the badniks outside would make. If you're gonna stalk citizens, they'd at least like it if you do it quietly.
Luckily, all that was over with now, and now they only had to worry about getting home in one piece and avoid butting heads with any of the many badniks on patrol during the night.
(Y/N) twisted the key in their hand, finishing locking up the shop before pocketing said key and stealing a glance around the city. Yep. Still as dull and depressing as ever.
A sigh escaped their lips, creating a crowd of smoke around them before they began walking away from their shop, instead heading towards the usual and only transport for people nowadays, the conveyor belt.
(Y/N) would love to say that anything interesting happened during that painstakingly slow walk, but that would be a lie. It was the same, boring and lacking any uniqueness. It was interchangeably from any other day (Y/N) had. You could seriously changed the events that transpired this day to any other and (Y/N) wouldn't have even realized.
To say that (Y/N) was exhausted of all this would be an understatement. They were emotionally drained and mentally exhausted. Everything was the same. Every person they crossed on the street was the same, every robot that stared holes into them was the same, every building, every street.
All.
The.
Same.
(Y/N) wished that just for one day, they could be blessed with something unique, something that could remind them that life is more than just doing tasks mindlessly until you drop dead. It could be anything, they weren't picky!! A fun building, a flower, a song, a...a..
...A blue hedgehog??
(Y/N) froze up, doing a double-take when an electric blue blur caught their gaze. How could it not?? It was so different and it was such a stark contrast from the dark city it was in.
The blue blur zoomed down the street at such a speed that if (Y/N) blinked, they swore they would've missed it.
(Y/N) felt their heart rate go up for the first time in forever, an emotion that they had long since forgotten filled their chest.
Excitement.
Finally, there was something special in this world, something new. They didn't want to lose this feeling, nor did they want to lose this strange anomaly. Before (Y/N) even registered what they had done, they had stepped off of the conveyor and broke out into a spring, chasing after the blue that was miles ahead of them.
"Wait!! Wait up!!" (Y/N) called out, not caring who heard them or who was watching, even though the weird looks that people shot them was not lost on them.
The blue blur--If it even was a hedgehog or any other animal for that matter--didn't respond or even ease up, instead keeping up its abnormally fast running speed, making (Y/N) work up a sweat to even keep it in their line of sight. Adrenaline pumped inside of them at the thought of losing this and suddenly they picked up a speed they hardly knew they could've. It was absolutely nothing compared to the speeds of the blur, but it was still pretty impressive for such an average animal as themselves.
Their heartbeat and labored breaths pounded harshly against their ears, it practically being the only thing they could hear. They payed it no mind, instead keeping themselves focused on keeping the blur in their sights as well as calling out to it.
"Please!! Wait up!! I just want to talk!!" The words tumbled out of their throat almost frantically, their voice cracking and strained from the running. They prayed that somehow, their words could hit the blur since it was clear that they could never catch up to such a creature.
...
And much to their surprise, the creature finally heard them.
"...(Y/N)?"
In the blink of an eye, the blur had went from being miles ahead of (Y/N) to right in front of them, almost dangerously close.
"Oh, it's actually you!! Boy, I am so glad to finally see a familiar face that isn't trying to kill me--You aren't trying to kill me, right?? Oh, it doesn't matter cause it's you!! You're here!! Do you know where any of the others are?? I--" The creature, now identifiable as both a male and a blue hedgehog, rambled on in front of (Y/N), though they blocked out half of his words, more so taking in his...well, himself.
He was nothing like (Y/N) had ever seen in another animal. His electrically bright quills contrasted most of the dull colored fur that everyone else had, he had something in his eyes that was so much different than everyone else's. He actually had emotions and life in his mannerisms and facial expressions. He didn't look like a copy or a robot like everyone else did, he was very much alive and his own person--Also, he totally had glowing shoes but (Y/N) decided not to get into that can of worms.
He was magnificent--At least, that's how (Y/N) would describe him.
"Wai...Wait?? How do you know my name??" (Y/N) blinked out of their reverie, realizing what exactly the hedgehog had said previously.
"What--Oh, no!! Not you too!!" The hedgehog's face contorted into a disappointed expression, his ears even drooping at (Y/N)'s words. "C'mon, you gotta remember me!! I'm Sonic!! So-nic!" He leaned forwards, talking with his hands as if that would help make a memory suddenly click in (Y/N)'s head.
"I'm sorry, Sonic, but I assure you I would not forget someone...of your caliber." That came out way creepier than they intended. "I think you might have me confused with someone else." They tried to smile reassuringly, but failed miserably. Their heart was beating so fast and they had no clue if it was from the run they did to get here, from being so close to someone this unique, or from fest of the gibberish Sonic was spouting. Maybe a mix of all three..
Sonic's frown deepened, his eyebrows narrowing at (Y/N). "Cmon, even this version of you has to remember me!!" Version...? "We were like unstoppable together!! We were an item, A power couple!! This has to rejoh something in that head of yours!! You used to call me a 'Star'--𝘠𝘰𝘶𝘳 star." Sonic threw his arms out to his sides in an animated fashion, clearly exasperated at how his attempts to get (Y/N) to remember didn't seem to be working.
"Star..? Dating?" (Y/N) could swear that that their face was on fire at this point. "I'm sorry, sir, but I don't recall any of that."
Sonic's shoulders slumped dejectedly, his facial expressions also morphing into a deafeated look. He dropped down, sitting on the sidewalk as his eyes glued themselves into the grim and disgusting concrete of the streets. "Right, of course you wouldn't remember." His tone lacked the energy it had previously, instead being as dead as everyone else's tone was in this city. (Y/N) didn't like it. It didn't suit this stranger to be as disappointed and accepting of defeat as everyone else was. Even with how little the knew of him, they could tell that he wasn't that type of person.
"Well..." (Y/N) was careful with their movements, shifting to sit down next to the blue hedgehog. "Try me. Maybe we had met each other." Despite knowing very well that the two hadn't, (Y/N) still stated that, though it did seem to help make the blue hedgehog ease up just a tad, as evident by him lifting his head up to look at them.
"Did we ever go on any dates?" (Y/N) asked, mostly out of curiosity as to the fictional relationship this man had made up rather than any need to rejog their memory.
"Oh, only the best!!" The hedgehog's energy returned almost as fast as he could run, his eyes lighting up at the memories of the twos dates. "I remember we used to race down green hills loop-de-loop all the time--I always won, by the way--OH, OH!! We sometimes did dates on Angel Island, though it was so hard with Knuckles there and all."
(Y/N) looked at the hedgehog, listening intently to his ramblings. There was far too much detail for them just to be ramblings from an insane man, and they even had (Y/N) second guessing if the two had met before--But, they know nothing about no 'Angel Island' or 'Knuckles'.
"We must've had a lot of fun together, huh??" (Y/N) kind of wished they remembered something, anything of what he was saying. They wished that they were actually from what sounded like another world, living an action packed life along Sonic's side where they would never have to feel the dread of a looping lifestyle ever again.
But, alas, they knew that it wasn't true. It was too good to be true.
"We did...I wish we can again too." Sonic's eyes flickered back to the street though it didn't take long for the hedgehog to find (Y/N)'s gaze again.
"You may not remember, but I do!! I'll make sure to jog your memory and get this place back to normal, where it isn't some creepy egg dystopia." He stood up, a confident smile gracing his lips as he did so. "Recognize this face, cause it's the face of a stars--And not just any stars, your star!!"
An amused expression crossed (Y/N)'s face as they cocked a brow but before they knew it, Sonic reached out to grab their hand, hoisting them up before dragging them with him, most likely taking them somewhere to "jog their memory".
"Wait, Wait!! Hold up!"

Here's a prompt. Tails has has to go to a science convention they're usually filled with boring geezers and pretentious people who think they're "better." Tails is allowed to bring someone since Sonic won't go he asks Amy. While there they make fun of all the "leading minds and elites" Tails feels less alone having a friend there and gives his best presentation yet.
-Sing-songy- Prompts are on Shut-Down~! That means don’t click the IN-Boxxx~ It’s very fuuuullll~ I don’t have time, anymore~ So, leave it be! (-background choir- Yes, leave it be!) It needs to rest just like my aching fingers and headddd~ (She’s so behind!) I thank you for your timmmeeee~ For trusting me with your ideas! -kicks- I’ll keep trying to complete’em! -Kicks- I just need more of your patience, kiddo! (She’s tryin’!) So keep your head’s held high! I’ll post them on the fly! Just keep your eyes upon my channels and writing sittteeesss~ (She’ll work overtime!) For your smillleeessss~ -big finisher, water sprays everywhere, show girls hug my sides and pose as I spread my full arm-span out and lean my head back to belt the last bit. We then proudly freeze in place for photos.)
Prompt:
Tails stood with his enhanced plane mechanics dissected and laid simply upon the presentation table, feeling like a nervous kid at a science fair while older human men walk by to examine the scientific break-throughs, but only give his stall a glance before moving on.
For some reason, Tails didn’t realize that men of science would be that particularly interested in the ‘look’ of a presented scientific wonder than the actual ‘wonder of invention’ itself.
His script in hand for the later ‘speech’ segment of the convention, he twisted it repeatedly between his gloved hands… wringing it as it cried out crumbled sounds to match his withering self-confidence…
He looked at the ground, his mock-model plane displayed up on a model-stick, the paint beautiful, and his cards for explaining each ingenious piece of it’s refigured structure modeled on the table as well.
‘Well, if I could have flown it, they’d stop and stare, wouldn’t they!?’ He angrily continued to wring the life out of the twisted papers in his hands.
He turned to the table, no longer able to see what looked like a red bear of somekind come up to the panel, scratch his chin, and then nod and take his leave through the crowd flowing past his stall.
“Gah..!” He hit the table with both his hands, squinting his eyes closed, “They won’t even ask a single question or make a remark..!” He had no idea what they were thinking…
The memory of Sonic turning his back to him, whimsically stating that science fairs weren’t really his thing, and winking to him that he’ll do great replayed in his mind a moment… only making his fingers upon the table flinch and twitch at the insensitivity…
‘Did Sonic really believe in me..? Or was that his way of avoiding a ‘boring’ science convention?’ He sighed as he relaxed his tense arms to gently begin sliding off the table, as though losing hope, before a familiar voice caught his attention.
“Wow! It’s even more expansive than the X-Tornado, Tails!”
The sound of Amy’s voice lifted him up in surprise, as he turned around with almost tears of joy in his eyes, “Amy… When did you get here?!” He spread his arms out wide, his twin tails flopping excitedly to show his true emotions of having a friend there to support him in his time of need.
Amy, seeing that, giggled, and moved her souvenir science bag, given to all who paid ticket entry, to the front of her and off her shoulder, “I got your letter in the mail about it! Of course I’d come to cheer you on, Tails!” She looked around, “It must be kinda lonely… not knowing anyone…”
“Are you kidding!?” Tails raced to her side, looping an arm around her and pulling her down to his height, pointing, “That’s Dr. Yellow’s newest machine that protects against sun’s harmful rays! You put it in water and let it sit and absorb light away from skin, like a tractor beam!” He turned her abruptly, causing her to cry out a second in alarm, before pointing to another scientist, “That’s Dr. Uda Strainheart! She’s the top-leading scientist for genetic modification!!!”
He continued to explain, expound upon, and geek out over everyone in attendance.
Amy just sweatdropped a bit in his eager explanation, clearly meaning he hadn’t a friend in the world here, but didn’t dare stop listening and nodding to each of his excited rants about them.
“Wow, I’m glad to see such an amazing mix of talented men and women.” She gestured about, “Including my favorite… You~” She booped his nose.
He chuckled, blushing at her sweetness, “Thanks, Amy… To be honest, I wasn’t really intimidated… more embarrassed…” He bent his ears down, “I’ve always wanted to attend this convention with my own scientific breakthrough… but I… Ohhh… I don’t really feel competent anymore.” He lowered his head. “I don’t have amazing works like sun polarizing mechanics that can draw in harmful light beams, or even change the genetic makeup so a child doesn’t inherit a harmful disease… I just made a new and improved fighter plane that no one seems to think is really helpful to society at large…” He rotated his fingers around each other, “I think… I have to make some sort of contribution to ‘health and safety’ to really make people stop and stare at my work…”
Amy, hearing enough, grabbed his shoulders and pulled him to the front of her, “Now look here, Mr. Miles Prower!” He looked greatly shocked by her using his full name. “What’s more safe than a machine that can go toe-to-toe with a Egg-Destroyer? With a cosmic meteor shower!? You’ve literally created a heroic piece of machinery to protect and defend the whole ‘health and safety’ of the ENTIRE PLANET!” She let him go and threw out her arms into the space above his head. “You’re a GENIUS, Tails! It’s the health and safety of the environment against deadly threats like robotic takeovers or literal levels of cataphoric anomalies the size of the extinction of dinosaurs! You gotta have more confidence in yourself, buddy!” She nudged his arm, and he couldn’t help but smile at the kindness of his dear friend.
“You… You really did read my letter…” He nodded, wiping a tear out of his eye, “Y-Yeah… I guess… I’m not so good at… umm… praising myself? I guess?” He looked at his shoddy, make-shift station to present his work…
“Then you’ve gotta sell your passionate love to make them all fall in love with you!” She got all riled up with fire in her eyes, holding up her fists and looking as though she was trying to set the entire convention up on a date with Tails…
“Uhhh… H-How do I do that? And not go that far, either…” He sweatdropped, forgetting who he was talking to…
“You gotta declare your love to the masses! So those other stingy, pompous scientist nerds have to recognize you no matter what!” Her enthusiasm made him cower back a second.
“E-Easy, Amy…” She jutted herself into his face as he tried to pull back.
“Come on, Tails! In order to win the hearts of those you care about and adore, you’ll have to make them admire and love you! And so,” She took his hand, racing towards the stage, “You gotta beat all the other hopeful suitors to the punchline!!!” She threw him on the stage, making him cry out as he wiggled his arms about but got his tails spinning to land on the stage.
“A-Amy!” He reached out for her, but she held up his plane, winking.
“Give it all you got, Tails!”
He lowered his ears again, looking to see everyone now staring at him, turning to face him and corral around the stage.
“Uhh… uhhhhhhhh-AH!” He was suddenly shot with a spotlight, and all eyes were on him.
He nervously tried to unfold his paper, shrieking silently to himself when his eyes almost bulged out of his sockets at seeing that his wringing behavior from nerves and frustration caused the sweat of his hands to bleed out the script, the words now smearing with the ink all over his gloves.
He hadn’t noticed… what will he do now!?
“Ah, That’s…” Amy’s eyes noticed something above the stage, “Sonic! Spin into this!!!” She threw the plane into the air.
“Ah! Sonic!?” Tails looked above his head, turning around to see a blue spinball go to bash against the toy plane. “Woah! Uhh… Initiate astroid protocol!” He cried out, as the plane began to transform and fire out fake firepower towards Sonic, looking like foam missiles and the like.
Some were just artistically recreated versions of the actual equipment on it.
Tails swiped out his hand holding the script, no longer needing it, “Advance!”
The Plane wobbled a second before boosters shot out, two on each end, and it’s wings flipped to reveal a set of two on each end.
“Now, defeeenndddd!!!” Tails cried out, as Amy rushed up where Sonic was spindashing, holding her arms out wide as the plane’s wings spread out and a photo-realistic projection showed a pink grid screen effect, a wide shield as it then fired out more attacks onto the spinning hedgehog.
Tails watched as Sonic proved his trust in his friend’s abilities, and gave that model plane all of his furious, highspeed shredding.
The crowd went into awe, gasping at the marvel, as the plane pushed against a massive force and held its place perfectly in the air. Its position never wavered, its armor never tore, and Amy smiled at seeing the sparks coming off of its hide, knowing Sonic wasn’t just doing this for show, but was also giving everything he had to the model plane.
“Hit it BACCCCKK!!!” Tails threw himself back, shouting with every bit of passion he had and knowing his invention would hold.
The Plane then turned its boosters in on eachother, and with the four flames becoming a singular, strong entity… The plane shoved with a fierce propulsion Sonic’s spinball up and through the convention’s roof.
“That asteroid returned to a new orbit.” Amy winked and saluted, “Thanks to the amazing and masterful hand of my dear friend,” She then held out her hand to gesture to Tails on the stage, “The youngest inventor of ingenuity yet! A marvel of humility! Miles ‘Tails’ Prower!”
Immediately, people were scrambling to the edge of the stage, crying out, “Oh, Mr. Prower! Mr. Prower!?” Trying to grab at his attention first to ask their questions.
The little toy plane slowly flew down as Amy moved up to gently catch it, “Great job, little buddy.” She smiled at it, then looked up proudly to Tails as he was clambered with scientific enthusiasts and minds all wanting to hear more about his great invention.
Amy then looked up to see Sonic’s head silouetted by the light of the outside crater left in the rooftops, his face darkened by him looking down, before slowly moving off and away.
She heard the similar sound of speeding away, and gently closed her eyes with that same kind smile. ‘Thank you… For not letting Tails down, Sonic.’ She sent almost a silent prayer of gratitude to him, before looking back to Tails who was being tugged left and right, the crowd going bonkers and nuts for him.
“Ah! Hey! O-One at a time!!! Form a line! Form. A. LINE!” She summoned her hammer and began to defend him, still holding the plane like a baby cradled in her arms. Her face turned scary and the people quickly moved back, giving the stage some space.
“Now, you first, please.” Amy used her hammer to direct everyone’s attention to a young girl, who put her hands together as her eyes sparkled towards Tails.
“Mr. Prower… Does your invention have a name?”
Tails smiled, nodding, “It does.” He looked to the crater as the Sonic X sound-music just before the end of an episode began to play. “It’s called… The Sonic-Striker!”
Truth be told, he hadn’t actually named it yet… Now he had the perfect name for it!
Next convention, he had a pink and blue model made, one called the Rose-Courge, and the other… Sonic-Striker Mark II. It was displayed that the Rose-Courage was a support system for the Sonic-Striker Mark II… and a newer model was being created for astronomical storms predicted for future times against the climate-changes threatening natural disasters… The Tails-Pride.

So Frontiers prompt for me any literally anyone else who wants it:
Sonic is really happy for his friends! They're going their own way and making their own choices. He's happy!
Right until he's about to see Tails off. Then, for the first time in years, tears gently trickle down his face.

3 - “Forehead kiss” from this prompt.
And yes, I did pair it with that audio on my Tiktok haha
I like to imagine that everyone from the group likes getting forehead kisses from Sonic, in a familial way.
I’m no longer accepting any more prompts at this time, sorry!

Tails looked at the kocos gathered around his sleeping form, all chiming quietly as they shifted and looked at him with their wide eyes. "He'll be okay," Tails reassured them, gaze drifting back to his big brother as another glitch rippled through him and Tails leaned towards him, too, his tails sweeping over the ground to try and encircle them both. "He'll be okay."
It’s really late here, but I just HAD to sketch this Frontiers prompt by @skimmingmilk

This is probably really out there but here we go. A mysterious lavender hedgehog with familiar jade eyes comes from the future (25ish years) trying to get future Eggman back from destroying the past (modern) verisons of the heroes. She's pretty fast and Sonic finds she's weirdly familiar especially when the insane elderly Eggman goes on about keeping his promise to never touch the girl. Modern Eggman then attacks her, it's revealed she is Sonic's future daughter Velocity (best name I thought of)
Prompt:
“And that’s the gist of it.” The Girl finished tying her dark purple hair up, with streaks of magenta that sparkled like stardust for some reason… There were highlights of gold, but probably from when she turned Super just a few moments ago with Future Chaos Emeralds that helped her to get here with this ‘Uncle’ of hers’ invention. Sonic thought long and hard, his thumb pushing up against his squishy pink muzzle as he contemplated all he had heard. “So,.. our Eggman discovered your other Chaos Emeralds… resulting in that powerful blast that took out so much of that valley..." He looked a little like he was reserving how upset he was at that.
Amy placed a hand on her heart, "That beautiful valley..." She gripped some fabric of her dress, both by her chest and at the white rims of its ends.
"That's awful." Tails looked down, his eyes also twitching as he tightened his jaw, holding back wanting to say more.
"Yeah..." Knuckles looked perturbed as well, folding his arms before looking over at the Girl. "And you say you're a hero from your time?"
"That's right." She tried to be sensitive to the fact that half the crater in the ground just now was her doing... "I apologize." she put her hand to her heart, a bit more firmly than Amy did, as everyone looked up to her at the sudden shift of action. She was holding herself well, taking responsibility, "If I hadn't chased my timeline's Eggman, then none of this disaster would have happened." She looked to Sonic, "I ask you all," then to the others, "Forgive me." and bent her eyes before lowering her head, "I swear I'll make it up to you."
They smiled at her trying to take all the blame.
"It's not your fault alone," Amy interjected, taking a sweet step forward to comfort the kindhearted heroine.
"That's right, how could you have known..." Tails also held his head a bit more higher, and the Girl smiled gently to each of them.
"Thank you, but let me make it up to you. Since I don't know where my time's big baddie went into hiding here in your time, I may as well plant some trees and try and help the scarring." She offered her hand up as a way to symbolize her 'gesture of help'. "Sonic, Knuckles... we'll need someone to till the land and collect some berries."
Sonic smirked, "You got it!" and darted off, not even questioning her sudden leadership.
Surprised by that, Amy also lifted up her hand to volunteer, "I'll help too!"
"Right!" The Girl nodded, eagerly, "Your hammer can pack a wallop, it'll be useful for breaking rocks, creating holes for the seeds to be planted in, and then I'll speed by to bury them up again."
"... How did you..?" Amy looked a bit surprised, but she took off.
"While Knuckles is tilling and digging around, I'll help Sonic collect berries. We should probably figure out an irrigation system first... I'll find a local source of water and use my power to help it reach the crater." She stated, looking over her shoulder as she dashed off before speeding off... so similar... her dust of wind, the blur of color in her wake...
Even her mannerisms... the confidence in her words and abilities...
"O-oh..." Amy narrowed her eyes a bit, "She knows..."
Later on, Amy was hammering away, swinging rocks that were too hard to smash and powder down out of the way to keep the ground soft for planting while Knuckles dug about, shouting out a battle cry of efforts as he did so.
She paused only a moment to lean on her Hammer's stem, wiping the sweat off her face, when Sonic appeared with berries all in his arms.
"Think this will do?" He asked her.
"Yeah, thanks." She smiled gleefully, giggling as he plot them down for her and let them rain from his arms to rolling beside her. "Got quite a haul there, did ya?"
"Yeah. Where's the girl?" He looked about, "She didn't even properly give us a name..."
"Yeah,... like, she's avoiding it... or something." Amy looked around, "Come to think of it... she even knew about my Piko Piko Hammer without ever seeing it before." she looked at her hammer a second, lifting it up as Sonic ducked over the berries.
"Ahhh! Amy, no! The berries! You'll squash them!" he joked about and she puffed up a side of her cheek, successfully being distracted by his antics.
"Oh, you! I wasn't gonna hit them!" she laughed and playfully smacked his back as he closed his eyes and smiled too, pretending to defend the berry patch. "Get up from there, haha!"
"Nooo! The berries, Amy! I worked so hard to find them only for your incredibly hard-hitting and infamous hammer to squish them all into oblivion!" he continued to be dramatic but then his word struck her...
"Oh." Her eyes blinked a second, and she stopped all movement. "Infamous?" She leaned away as he got up, stretching out his 'lightly patted with scolds' back, and looked cheerfully back to her with his arm behind his head, pretty relaxed, but still fully stretching towards the sky.
"Well, yeah! It's obvious to me that in the future, we'll be pretty popular!" he looked out at the crater they were cultivating for vegetation and put relaxed hand down and the other on his hip. "Look, Amy... just look at it." The wind blew gently by them... and the sun illuminated the space as it rose over the curvature of the earth. "Velocity really wants to set things right, we shouldn't question her on this... I'm sure we'll find her old egg-gramp, soon." he put his arms back up over his head... when Amy looked a bit sorry for doubting her.
"Yeah... you're right, she really doesn't mean any harm-... Wait a moment!" Her eyelids bounced up wide, "You-!" she turned to him, as he looked at her with an innocent expression on his face.
"Hmm? Amy? What's wrong?" He asked while Amy pointed to him and moved away.
"You... Yo-yo-yo-you called her Velocity!" She exclaimed, and Sonic jolted in spot, "You-... You know her name!"
"Ah-oh-uh-Gotta run!" he darted off with a few awkward poses of trying to 'negate' her obvious suspicion of him now, too.
"Ah, wait!" she reached out for him... but there was just a pile of loose dirt and dust behind where he must have sped off, too... "Hrmm... Why does that worry me even more?" She bent her ears and head down, not liking the secrecy that swarmed around the girl. But she sighed, "Well, if Sonic can trust her... so can I." she looked up with determination and continued to hammer the ground repeatedly, looking like she was getting it out of her system... the berries lightly bounced and rolled a bit on the ground as she carried on...
Later, Tails reported that he had found the other Eggman, who was trying to snatch the remaining 'Past Chaos Emeralds' from Shadow, but was thwarted and tied up by him and Rouge.
"Awesome!" Amy exclaimed, "She'll be so happy to hear that!" she beamed, as Knuckles pounded his fists together.
"Can't wait to show her the work we've done on the valley! She must be having trouble locating water this far out into the mountains, though." He looked to Amy who nodded to his deductions.
"Sonic told me a little while ago that there are heavy rains coming down from the mountains, and monsoons usually reach this bit of land during the stormy seasons... If he had known she was looking for water, he would have said something sooner." She lifted a hand to explain, as Knuckles looked down and folded his arms tightly again.
"Poor girl..." He stated, "She only wanted to help..."
Amy also looked down... "I'm getting kinda worried..."
"Hey, gang!"
"Ah!" Everyone turned back to see Sonic and Velocity racing back, dragging two sticks behind them. "Sonic!" They seemed to all resonate their voices together in joy at seeing him and the new girl returning... but Amy didn't race to meet them like the others.
She held herself back... seeing Sonic waving and then looking back at Velocity with a charming smile... and her returning it happily...
Her heart hurt suddenly...
She gripped it tighter than before, "What... is this feeling?"
Although happy they found a way to trickle some freshwater towards the valley, Sonic had mentioned they should dig more smaller canals to have the water transport more down the mountain and not drown the new trees that will sprout here.
As they worked, Amy kept looking over her shoulder at the laughter and growing bond between Sonic and...
Velocity.
She gripped her hammer a bit tighter.
The campsite was moderately damp from all the water they were dealing with, making mud and finding it hard to light a fire without dry branches to use, but Velocity used her speed to quickly dry and spark wood together, and everyone seemed to praise her.
"You're pretty useful, Velocity," Amy stated, trying to be polite and kind as the girl looked up with alarm.
"You... You know my name?" She inquired.
"Y-Yes." Amy noticed her slowly coming up from warming herself near the fire. "Sonic... He... He let it slip by." she tilted her head, bending her eyes before smiling and closing them fully. "You two get along great together!"
"You think so?" Velocity wiped her hands off from a job well done and placed them on her hips, stretching herself up to the sky, breathing in the world around her. "Ahhh... the air is always so much clearer after a hard day's work!" she cheered, then winked to Amy, "You weren't half bad yourself there, hammer-girl!"
Amy had an anger mark on the side of her head, but kept her composure, twitching an eyebrow, 'H-Hammer... girl..?'
Velocity snickered a little, "Opps, my apologizes. You're super cute, Amy!" she tried to backtrack but Amy was already twitching a bit.
"It's fine." she held in her annoyance.
"You... planning to go back home, soon?" She asked as the girl twitched a second, scratching the side of her neck.
"Actually..." She blushed a little pathetically, and looked away at the side of her eyes, "Even though my timeline's Eggman is back, I would still like to finish what I've started, and get the crater looking good as new! Tails said he can get some Flickies to fly grass and flower seeds over the wide crater... I think that would be pretty and wonderful to see, don't you?"
Amy was fuming with fire... "Yeah, that's wonderful." she dipped her head down, and getting up, Velocity could definitely tell something was wrong, and that she angered the poor girl.
"U-Uhh... You know, you kinda remind me of my mom..."
Amy stopped a second, "I should go-... Huh?" She was completely shaken out of her previous feelings. She shook her head multiple times and then reached out gently to Velocity, stepping forward a bit tentatively before pulling back, "I-... what was that?"
"My mom." Velocity smiled, distilling the obvious hostilities that must have been created somehow... though she didn't seem phased, and had no desire to question it. "When she got irritated with me, she would always say, 'You're just like your Father! Augh!' but when she was happy with me, she'd always say, 'Ha! Like Father, like Daughter, eh?' and I knew she was proud of me." She turned her body to the side and looked up at the moon.
Her profile...
Amy admired how it looked just like Sonic's...
Tumblr media
Her mind flashed to that image of him... and seeing so much of how similar they were, looked away.
"Velocity... I'm sorry." she closed her eyes, as Velocity looked back to her.
"What for?" She wondered.
"I've... I've just been awfully jealous of how you and Sonic get along so well..." She sighed and held her arms together, looking off to the side of the crater, "You can race alongside him... make him laugh... and you both have the spirit of heroes about yourselves... The more I watched you two work together, the more insecure I became... and that was unfair to you." She opened her eyes gently and turned back to Velocity, taking her hands. "But not any longer!"
Velocity lurched back a second, looking awkwardly with her mouth hanging open at the girl's sudden jump towards her and seizing her hands. "W-wha?"
"I won't lose to you, Velocity!" Amy looked pretty stoked, determination coursing through her eyes as Velocity slowly shook her head in utter horror.
"N-No, no, it's not like that-!" she tried to state but Amy continued, letting her hands come up as though the two were praying, putting Velocity's sweating face up near hers as well.
"Two women in a fierce duel of love, each fighting with all her soul and might for her one true love to take notice of her more than the other..!" Amy's eyes gracefully lifted to the stars, shining like gemstones as she declared her intentions with Velocity about to fall on her shaking knees.
"Please, no more..." Her eyes were shaking, "This is not what I meant to-!"
"No woman expects to fall in love, especially with someone as elusive as Sonic The Hedgehog." Amy took a deep, respectful breath in. "But alas, we are what we are. We are made to love, and Sonic just happened to squeeze our hearts without us knowing... it was too late when we did, anyway." She shook her head, "Can't be helped."
"M-Miss Amy, please-!" Velocity's lips trembled, tears on the side of her eyes.
"I won't ask you to back down, Velocity... don't worry." She then looked with a fire blazing in her eyes as though the reflection of the campfire, but even more brighter and powerful than its flames!
"Eeek!" Velocity jolted in spot, "Really, this is so not necessary!" She kept trying to protest but Amy 'marched' on in her 'Woman's suffering' act.
"Two women locked in an endless spiral of longing and envy, each trying their hardest to obtain a heart as free as the wind... But I won't back down either, Velocity! I'm confident in my feelings for Sonic reaching even through the whirling wind!" She leaned forward as Velocity kept trying to get away but Amy's grip was too strong.
"Please, this is a bad dream! A bad dream!" Velocity shook her head, this being too much for her. "Please let me go..!" she fell to her knees at last, her eyes now crying blobs like connected pearl strings down her cheeks, each having a differing shape to them as though morphing with her plight.
"We can't be free of our feelings, Velocity, but although I won't lose Sonic to you, it won't stop me from maintaining a cordial and friendly rivalry with you." Amy let her go but kept a hand still on one of hers.
Velocity was now on her literal KNEES, her other hand on the ground, "It's just a friendship..." she pleaded.
"Exactly... we'll maintain our relations so as to not have anyone suspect us of bad conduct. We'll fight equally and on similar grounds. Hmm-hmm." She nodded at those rules, finding them fair. "But Sonic's mine, you hear me!?" She grinned widely as Velocity seemed to finally take the fatal, ending blow and fell to the ground.
The following day, Amy was constantly trying to intercept Velocity, who kept her distance from Sonic, confusing him.
Plowing and watching the Flickies fly over the Crater, Velocity said her goodbyes and--as a small joke, blew a kiss to Amy before waving things off.
Amy was confused, but Sonic just sniggered.
It wouldn't be until years later... Amy discovered that Velocity...
Was Sonic's own flesh and future blood.
And hers', as well. ^^
