making my studyblr debut !
đŸŒ»đŸŒ»đŸŒ»đŸŒ»đŸŒ»
think i’m finally ready to make the first step into being a studyblr and posting my own things!
i’ve revamped my theme to fit with my vibe and i’m ready to make my studyblr debut, hopefully not too late into 2020
hi, you can call me SJ, i’m 19 from london and studying physics with astronomy. i’m currently in second year but also i’m taking a break from my studies, and I’m hoping by becoming a studyblr i will be more accountable for keeping to my goals this year and finding my mojo again :’)
đŸŒ»đŸŒ»đŸŒ»đŸŒ»đŸŒ»
goals for 2020 are:
đŸŒ» not! to! forget! physics! - just because you’re not in uni doesn’t mean you’re allowed to forget everything you’ve learned!!!!
đŸŒ» take up language learning more seriously and increase my proficiency in french, korean and tamil
đŸŒ» hopefully take up more artistic hobbies like reading and drawing, doesn’t matter if i’m crap at it, picasso did not emerge from the womb with an easel
đŸŒ» post my progress, and post frequently
đŸŒ» try and take up the 100 days of productivity challenge
đŸŒ» be more active and do regular exercise
đŸŒ» try not to get too caught up in the aesthetics of my notes, as long as i write something, it is good
đŸŒ» get a freaking job and treat myself without guilt!!!
đŸŒ» reduce my dependency on my phone - currently have huge separation anxiety and i’m going to think of how i can tackle that bc honestly it is quite frightening
đŸŒ» don’t get too caught up in the numbers, i am doing this blog for me only
shoutout to all these studyblrs for inspiring me:
đŸŒ» @study-harder đŸŒ» @adelinestudiessÂ Â đŸŒ» @sorcierstudiesÂ đŸŒ» @sonderstudy  đŸŒ» @serendistudyÂ đŸŒ» @rayslablrÂ đŸŒ» @seulfstudyÂ đŸŒ» @ingenuestudiesÂ đŸŒ» @indiaisstudyingÂ đŸŒ» @actuarystudiesÂ đŸŒ» @rozystudiesÂ đŸŒ» @studyspirationÂ đŸŒ» @study-sanÂ đŸŒ» @study-with-gabbieÂ đŸŒ» @lotta-studiesÂ đŸŒ» @pomelo14Â đŸŒ» @starchild-studyingÂ đŸŒ» @mydaystudiesÂ đŸŒ» @cyclicstudiesÂ đŸŒ» @studyquillÂ đŸŒ» @emmastudiesÂ đŸŒ» @sophie-studiesssÂ đŸŒ» @solarastudiesÂ đŸŒ»Â @starduststudiesđŸŒ» @myhoneststudyblr  đŸŒ»
i’m sure i’ve forgotten a lot of you but thank you for your support to!! hope 2020 is a kind year for all of us and i hope we reach our goals with each other’s support :)

How to study in high school + procrastination tips
I’ve been meaning to make a post on study tips and I saw @sorcierstudies wanted some high school advice for freshmen so here it is! My biggest problems my freshman year of high school were not knowing how to study, or just not studying at all and thinking I would do fine, and procrastination.
So here are some tips on how I got over those:
1. Procrastination
Never procrastinate. I know you think you might sometimes be able to get something done right before class, or the morning before school. Just don’t do it. I tried to do this so many times, and a lot of the times I would get the work done, but it never helped me learn the material.
Write to-do lists. To stop procrastinating, something I learned was to use a planner and instead of just writing the task down, I put a little box next to it, and try to check all the tasks off by the end of the day. Be realistic with this; don’t give yourself a million tasks you can not do in the time you have. Only give yourself tasks you know you will get done. But always make sure you get everything done on your list.
Be specific with tasks. Instead of saying you’re going to just “read your English book” or “study for algebra”, be specific. This will help you get things done without feeling drained or feeling so overwhelmed that you don’t want to do it and just put it off till later. For example, instead of writing: “study for biology” write down something like: “study mutations for 30 minutes” or “read chapter 4 at 8pm” Be specific. This has helped me more than anything when it comes to getting things done on time.
Hold yourself accountable. You can do this by rewarding yourself and punishing yourself. Obviously, by this, I don’t mean you have to slam your head against the wall if you don’t finish an assignment. Cough, Dobby. By this I mean, if you finish all of your tasks, do something you enjoy. Let yourself watch an episode of your favorite tv show. If you don’t finish all of them, don’t watch tv that night.
Finish your homework first. This goes with the last tip, but don’t do anything you do “for fun”, until you’ve done the tasks for the day. Example: don’t use social media until you’ve finished your homework + studying.
Schedule time for fun. Tasks might be overwhelming, and you’re only in high school so you deserve time for your fun. Plan your tasks around some time for fun. Write down that you will only watch tv for an hour after your homework. I struggled with scheduling my time in high school and would get home and immediately start watching tv and going on my phone for 4 hrs plus. Don’t make this mistake.
Don’t overwork yourself. If you don’t feel like doing your work right after school, give yourself a brain break, but do not do any of your “enjoyable” activities. I’d recommend eating a healthy snack, exercising for a bit, or doing some meditation. School can be long and overwhelming every day and it’s good to give your mind and body a break after sitting in a classroom all day.
2. Studying
Active learning rather than passive. The way your mind learns is by active recall. This means testing/quizzing yourself, working out problems, etc. instead of just looking over your notes. If it’s something you need to memorize, quiz yourself. Make physical flashcards or use Quizlet or Anki. Quizlet was my go-to in high school. Reviewing things over and over, by quizzing, will help solidify those facts in your mind. Looking over your notes a few times will barely help you.
Learn the right way to study math. To study for math, physics, chemistry, or the like, the best way to study for those subjects is by doing problems over and over. Math is a subject that requires building. It’s like building a house. You can not expect yourself to understand large concepts without a strong foundation. Do the foundational problems over and over until you understand it, then work your way up. The only way to get better at math, or problem-based subjects, is to just do the math. If a complex problem is confusing you, do different problems until you know where you’re getting stuck.
Ask for help. When you get stuck, try to figure it out by yourself first. I recommend Khan Academy for math and science. If that doesn’t work for you, ask a friend who might understand the topic. Lastly, ask your teacher. However, be ready to explain exactly what you understand and exactly where you’re getting stuck or confused in a concept/problem. This helps them help you. It’s so much better than just telling them: I don’t understand this.
Tell yourself exactly what you will study. I kind of got into this with the procrastination part, but when you’re preparing to study, don’t just go to the library or sit down somewhere and say: I’m going to study. Again, be specific. Tell yourself you’ll study a certain subject for a certain amount of time. That way you’re not aimlessly going back between subjects and not getting much done. If you don’t get something done within the time you permitted, move on to the next thing.
Get rid of distractions. Only study for that certain thing during that permitted time. Do not go on your phone, put it in your backpack or on a different table. Keep it out of sight. Don’t talk to friends, don’t eat snacks. Just study.
Try the Pomodoro Technique: the most helpful studying technique I’ve ever come across. Basically what you do is set a timer for a certain amount of time, usually 25-40 minutes, then you only study one subject or one concept, whatever you choose, during that amount of time. When that time is up, set a new timer for 5 minutes, or a couple minutes longer if your first time was on the long side. This is when you can eat a snack, stretch your legs, etc. Try not to go on your phone and social during this time. It’s more of a short brain/body break to refresh you. When this timer is up, set another long one. Repeat until you’ve reached the amount of time you’ve set aside for studying. Example: keep repeating the process until 3 hours is over. I don’t recommend doing this for long periods of time, no more than 5 hours. You need a real break.
Give yourself halfway breaks. Within your Pomodoro-ing, especially if it’s a long session, halfway through give yourself a longer brain break—a ten to fifteen-minute break instead of five. This will help keep your motivation on track!
3. Goals
Stay motivated. I know I didn’t mention this earlier, but it’s super important to have goals when it comes to school in order to stay motivated.
Write down your goals. Short term, middle term, and long term, for every course. Example: get an A on the biology test—short term. Graduate with a 3.8 gpa—long term.
Keeping goals should always keep you at a steady pace of being motivated, you know you’re working towards something, instead of aimlessly going through high school, having up and down periods of motivation.
Have a way to remember your goals. Always write down your goals to make them more real. Handwrite them or type them out in a document and revisit them occasionally. Whatever it is, it’ll make you remember that you have something to work towards.
Hopefully, this is helpful when it comes to the academic side of high school. There’s so much more to high school than just studying, like having friends and social life, activities, etc. I plan to make a post on the college application process, but let me know if you’d like a post on anything else high school or college related! Also, feel free to add more advice or constructive criticism in the comments; it’s always welcome :)

100 Days of Sweat
Tumblr media
Welcome to the official admission post for the 100 days of sweat challenge! *plays the conquer theme song and does a booty pop* This is a pretty long post, but has everything you need to start, so read on!
READING TIME: 6 minutes.
OoOh? What's that?
Thanks for coming out of the cave! In short, it's a consistency challenge to turn working out into a habit.
You've basically got to move your body for a 100 days straight. No slacking, no backing out!
Most take on this challenge personally, but I felt accountability would be great for those beginning with exercising & those who can't seem to keep their streak (cough, me).
Sounds fun! How do I join? Do I need to do a booty pop too?
Booty pops are appreciated. But here's how!
1. First things first, decide whether you'll be joining via IG, Discord or staying on Tumblr.
2. If using IG, reply to this post with your handle or (alternative) if you'd like, join Discord instead! For that, click here to join the server!
(NOTE: Those who joined via the first post I created regarding this needn't reply again! I've already added you to the list.)
3. Lastly, boost this! Reblog, get your followers to join! Drag your friend or sibling in! (already dragged my bestie into this in case no one joined in lmao)
Important PSA: yO, ANYONE can join! All my beginners and winners, young teens and old pals, drarry fans and johnlock shippers, team cold water AND hot water (sparing y'all because I stan working out more), EVERYONE!
Here's what I'll do:
I'm creating an IG group for those interested in staying fully committed. (Pros include making friends! Or enemies, for a hundred whole days! Some of you might even get married together, I have high hopes because wedding cake is everything)
Sayani from @studign-stars will be the admin for Discord! You can hit her up for queries, if any.
In short, there'll be 3 separate groups. One for those joining via Discord, one for those on the IG group, and a third for those staying on Tumblr.
If you wish to use any other platforms like Snapchat and Twitter, feel free! Also plug your progress on Tumblr too so we can hype each other on! (tag stuff with #100dos)
+ That said, I highly suggest joining either one of the groups, for accountability does wonders. It's now up to you, fellow warrior.
How to prep for this challenge:
OhO! There's a whole lot prepping to be slayed. To finish this challenge as smoothly as possible, here's a few steps. Make this easier for yo’ lazy bum.
1+ Firstly, grab a marker and scrap paper (when you on a student budget, cuz same) and write down numbers from 1 to 100. I did 1 to 30 to prevent myself from being overwhelmed, but do right them numbers to gain momentum.
2+ Take couple before photos. From the front, and the side. If you don't want to, take them anyway and store it in a folder you never open. Also measure your weight, and if you have a measuring tape, take other basic measurements of the chest, waist, arm etc.
3+ Coming to the main part! Pick your 'base’ routine. This is the primary workout you wanna do 2-3 times a week. It's the main course!
For beginners, I suggest choosing a 15 min full body workout. Do try it out before you start 100 days— make sure it's challenging enough.
For those who already move their bodies, pick a workout that aligns with your long-term goals. If you want toned legs, pick a leg day routine. If you want abs, focus on abs.
My base routine is the Beginner's Bodyweight Workout (BBW) from the NerdFitness website. I do 3 sets of the entire routine (takes around 25-30 mins) thrice a week.
So, do some research and pick a workout! Doesn't have to be an hour long at all, just make sure it's time-effective and challenges you.
4+ Find your cheat day workout.
Yikes, the wording is kinda incorrect, but anything for the clickbait.
This is the workout you do 2 days a week, and is the second most important workout. (This means: 3 + 2 = 5, you’ve now got five days planned!)
I do Alexis Ren’s ab routine (I hate it) twice a week because abs are my target zone. For you, it could be arms, thighs, butt, anything!
5+ Leave your last two days for simple moving.
It's up to you to decide what's going to be cooking in the remaining two days. For suggestions, you can pick a fun activity, say yoga, handstands, cartwheels, splits, any form of dancing like hip-hop, Zumba etc.
I'm trying to do a handstand this year and get my middle splits already (I fell off track so I still have quite a way to go) so I'll be stretching and doing hand flexibility exercises in the last 2 days.
Or you can just go for a jog or a power walk. Just keep the momentum going!
A quick recap:
To summarize, you're doing a major workout 3 times a week, a toning workout (mine is abs) twice a week and a fun activity in the last two days.
Also, mix this up. Your muscles need time to heal, and I strongly emphasize leaving the next day free for lighter activities after doing a major workout. Here's my routine, as an eg:
Tumblr media
Do remember that this is just a STARTING POINT, because we don't want you to wake up everyday and be like “wut I do today.” It's now your mission to plan your workout routine. Consider taking more workload or reduce it as per your level (this is definitely a lot, try reducing if you're just beginning).
Also important: DETERMINE your workout routine NOW. I spent 2 years (only stopped like 3 months ago) doing YouTube videos haphazardly. This works, because you are working out after all, but it's a pretty lousy method if you want consistent results. Also makes you depend on motivation to workout (which has probability results equal to me marrying Tom Felton), whereas if you had a routine, you'll have to workout because it's in your schedule and you'd be a loser to lie to your schedule.
Is this a lot? It's a lot. I know.
If this is overwhelming you, don't back away darling. Face your fears. Here are some reasons to not back out—
The entire challenge is flexible: You don't have to follow that routine ^ if you don't want to. Starting out, you can do a major workout 2 times a week and fill the other 5 days with fun stuff. You can always change the routine later, 100 days is a long ass time.
The challenge fucks with your mindset and strengthens it: 100 days of continuous movement is CRAZY. Can you imagine how strong (mentally too!) we'll all be at the end? You'll have grown so much!
Working out will become a habit: I've been working out for 2 years now, and it has positively affected every single sphere of my life. Exercising is the #1 habit I suggest everyone build. Since science says it takes 66 days to build a habit, we're ON it.
You'll be really proud of yourself: I know I'll be. I'm literally going to hug y'all at the end of it, and sing jingles about how far you've come. 2019 will have been slayed.
I could go on and on, but this is it. Now's the moment. This is about doing something you're afraid of. Taking risks. Learning, falling, getting back up.
Thence, ladies, gents and non-binary pals, THIS is the 100 days of sweat challenge. You're cordially invited to it.
(We're dramatic, yes.)
đŸŒ» !!! MAJOR PSA & DEADLINES:
The challenge itself begins on 10th April, 2019.
You'll be added to the IG group latest by 7th April.
Because I'm your mom, I'll add everyone in, tell you the details and everything. If you’ve got any questions, jump into my inbox now and get them answered.
That said, please remember that I won't take anyone in midway (no, not even if you buy me free tacos for a year). So join in now & spread the message! The more, the merrier! Bring beer too!
Thanks for joining in! This will be promising and hugely interesting (accountability can do wonders, but we'll see). I'll be waiting for you on the other side with my stuffed animals, cIaO fReNdOs!
— Nandini (ÂŽïœĄâ€ą ᔕ â€ąïœĄ`) ♡ 💌

hey i'm here for the ask game and brisbane, tokyo <3
Brisbane: What are some hobbies you want to take up before you die? Now, name one thing you wish you knew how to do 5 years ago.
Probably playing the piano, programming, exercising, dancing. Playing the piano
Tokyo: Talk about the most spontaneous thing you’ve done. And talk about a time you weren’t spontaneous, but wish you would have been.
Playing sims 4 haha. Studying early before exams. I never really successfully did that without once cramming all the stuff before exams
Thank you for the ask! :)
