There is a nebulous jordie lives au which lives entirely in my head in which jordie recovers from the plague while Kaz is still sick. He gets up to find them food and water only to return and discover Kaz is nowhere to be found. Still recovering from the fever, he searches the barrel for days before he finally sees Kaz wandering down the staves in a sort of fugue state, soaked to the bone with a haunted look in his eyes.

Kaz won’t tell him what happened, but jordie knows it’s bad because his baby brother flinches every time he touches him, and soon enough he’s started wearing gloves, even in the height of summer.

Soon, they discover kazs gift for cards, and it keeps them fed and clothed, if not much else. Kaz is angry at jordie for losing the money, refuses to let him make any decisions. Jordie is beholden to his angry traumatized little brother because he can’t deny that he failed them the first time around.

Kaz is offered a place in his pick of the gangs, but the only one willing to take both him and his tag along older brother is the dregs. Jordie dies a little bit inside when they join up, when they take the tattoo side by side, but he’s not sure they’ll survive another winter on the streets.

And the plot of SoC generally goes on from there. Jordie tags along on the ice court, he and Jesper test kazs patience at every turn, he’s constantly offering unsolicited annoying older brother advice about Inej.

This lends itself to a really interesting exploration of Kaz and jordies relationship, what holds brothers together in the face of incredible trauma, the skewed power dynamic of Kaz becoming the breadwinner for them both at the age of nine, etc etc. But mostly, this au is a vessel for the sailing of the ultimate crack ship, which is of course, jordie/alys Van Eck.

Parenting 101 by Vanshound - A Review

Parenting 101 is easily the best comic I have picked up in a very long time. It's in the small details but the artwork and general flow sucked me in right away. The composition of frames and the overlying story work in perfect harmony and if someone asked me to pick a favorite moment I would probably melt into a little pile, unable to do so. I was gifted (by Irish ofc) Parenting 101, Scorched Earth and the Butchlander bookmark from Vanshound's collection. Vans has posted about their architecture work and it's very visible in this book, especially in regards to cleanliness and stunning backgrounds. The way pages shift from dark to light also aids the general quality but- I would be lying if I tried calling this book anything but perfect. Admittedly as a supe!Butcher fan, I loved this timeline. Picking up from the end of season 3 we get to see our two favorite co-parents somehow stumble upon their truce thanks to Ryan. The conflict was kept in line with the show and left me wondering at times if I was confusing 'Parenting 101' with the canon show. TL;DR: If you are a butchlander fan, Homelander fan, Billy Butcher fan or a general enjoyer of art that is so perfect you'll want to stare at it for hours on end, please consider supporting this absolute masterpiece. BUY IT HERE

Like all who relieve the suffering of others, Theo—in a process that is the exact opposite of a blood transfusion—has taken some of Vincent’s pain into himself. Soon, however, it becomes obvious that while the sky weighs heavily on both figures, one, Vincent, feels gravity as a force so terrible it can drag men beneath the earth. From this moment on you are held by the pathos and beauty of what Zadkine depicts: despair that is inconsolable, comfort that is endless. JUDITH SLAYING HOLOFERNES: no first of all, just look at how 'intimate' it looks. if you've seen Caravaggio's interpretation of the same paining this one will stand out so much, with how up close and personal judith is. look at the blood spurting and dripping down. look at the struggle!!! look at how judith has taken holofernes hair in her hands oh my god. also she was sa ed by her art teacher, amd ofc the shame was put on her (she was literally tortured so she would not lie). so she channeled her rage in the painting. there was her first version to this painting too, but this is so much more personal to her own story. because she has tried to portray herself as judith here. you can feel the rage and the scrunching of eyebrows in her expression and ofc the hair grasp. moreover the bracelet she is donning, has goddess artemis cameo. which artemis= artemisia. also this detail was not present in her original draft. moreover if you zoom in near the bracelet, holofernes blood spurts parallel to it, which adds such a personal touch!!! moreover women were excluded from all social and cultural resources from 1400-1900, so her involvement is even more significant. I think a lot of people forget why a character like Micah exists - aside from aiding the plot.

Micah is a guide (of sorts) for you to see what a "bad man" really is, to help you understand why Arthur does what he does and to show you that there's actual thought and morals behind his actions.

Micah, on the other hand, kills because he wants to and for stupid reasons. He is a malicious, mocking, hurtful, and sadistic man who cares very little for anybody but himself. He's a misogynist, racist, and frankly irredeemably evil.

As much as Micah was able to manipulate Dutch, Arthur could see right through him. Ultimately causing a rift between Dutch and Arthur, which is exactly what Micah wanted.

Micah was made for you to see the differences between "good" and "bad" people.

Characters like Sean, Lenny, Charles, all "good" people who have done "bad" just like the rest of the gang, including Arthur. I think the reason that people are quick to say that Arthur was "a bad person until he got tb" is because we see his experiences first hand (plus player choices) and not much of the other "good" gang members' "bad" actions. That and his motives and his background is sometimes misunderstood by players.

Arthur is a "good man", "a saint", "an angel", "a blessing" to some and a "bad", "evil", "cruel" man to others.

Playing as Arthur means getting to understand his internal conflicts and his desire to be a better person, something Micah had no intentions of being.
