Aaron explores a cavern on a distant asteroid near his home-moon. His human friend is along for the ride this time but due to the atmosphere she needs to wear a mask. Aaron is fine because it is very similiar to his native atmosphere. They went exploring after hearing rumors of an ancient artifact with special inscriptions being hidden inside the flying object.

Oh look at that, it's space riders Dogday and KickinChicken arresting some alien lady. The lady was going to take the aforementioned artifact and sell it on the black market maybe even to the prototype's cult if they showed interest. Not on the Critter's watch she doesn't. They wanted to confiscate the artifact and take it somewhere safe where it wouldn't cause possible harm.

Only that the lady doesn't have the artifact. Aaron got there first and she wasn't about to try and mess with an anthropomorphic carnivorous alien-whale that was more than twice her height, according to the lady. Aaron is only really interested in the inscriptions and history of the object but nonetheless he wanted to keep it so he wasn't about to complain about a free take.

Dogday and Kickin are still suspicious of the lady and question her about the 'beast' she saw. She described him quite... menacingly.

It doesn't help that rather than getting the hell back to earth, where Aaron and his friend came from, the two decided it would be SUPER interesting to watch them from afar out of curiousity. You're not making yourself suspicious at all, guys.

Walkway Aesthetics

The door opened from the spaceport to the city proper, and I couldn’t help saying, “Oh wow.” I’d expected a regular walkway, maybe with a moving sidewalk or hovercarts, probably with ads and decorations. The last few big cities we’d visited had all been pretty bland in terms of entrance-way style.

This one was an aquarium. The long tunnel curved away under a domed ceiling with vast sea creatures undulating by overhead, and others darting about in flashes of scales. Subtle blue-and-purple lighting lit up both the benches alongside and the water above. Specks of phosphorescence danced everywhere like fairies under a starry sky. The effect was breathtaking.

I ventured out into the purple-blue wonderland. “Wow, this is amazing.”

Three of my coworkers followed, and were less impressed.

“Eh, it’s not very original,” Kavlae said with a flip of her frills. Under the lighting, her sky-blue skin was a shifting purple. “Water scenes are pretty tiresome, honestly.”

“You said it,” agreed Mur down from floor level. He tentacle-walked along like the opinionated squid alien he was, blending with the bluish shadows. “Once you’ve seen things swimming past, you’ve seen them all.”

I asked, “Are you serious? This is beautiful.”

Paint huddled close beside me, her orange scales turned an indistinct brown. “I think it’s scary.”

“What? Why?” I asked.

She clasped her hands, shaking her head. “That’s a lot of water, and a lot of creatures. What if the barrier broke?”

“Well yeah, that would be bad,” I admitted. “But it’s not going to.”

Paint walked faster. “Still scary. Look at that one! It’s so big!”

The alien whale or whatever that coasted past had bioluminescent swirls along its underside, and a cloud of the glowing water-pixies flitting along after it. Beautiful, and awe-inspiringly close.

“Ah, that’s so cool!” I said, turning in place as I walked to keep it in sight.

Paint just squeaked and scampered ahead, followed by Kavlae and Mur.

“C’mon, we’re leaving you behind,” Mur told me.

“I’m coming,” I said. There were glowing eels or something up ahead, and I jogged to get a look. The other three continued turning up their various noses the whole way down.

When we finally reached the other end, a family of humans were just entering the tunnel. Their awestruck expressions were vindicating.

“Ohhh, wow!”

“This is lovely!”

“Look at the size of that one! I can almost touch it!”

“Don’t smudge the glass, honey.”

“But it’s so cool!”

I joined my coworkers at the exit with no small amount of smugness. “See? They get it.”

Mur waved a tentacle. “That just shows that your entire species has poor taste in decor.”

Paint shuddered, stepping into the brighter light of the station. “I would feel much safer with solid ground on all sides instead of all that water.”

I laughed. “See, that would make me worry that it was about to fall down on me.”

“A proper burrow would never!”

Kavlae walked past us both. “You planet-born folk have the silliest ideas about these things. I’ll stick with my windows into space.”

The rest of us immediately jumped in to agree that the risk of a hatch blowout was scarier than any cave-in. But the view of stars and galaxies could be pretty dang beautiful, so it was worth it.

Hello! And yes i do! Here are some of the sketches :D I don't have written down how i want the interactions between the characters to be yet. I choose the 10th doctor for now but i'm still in doubt of which regeneration i want hiccup to meet

I don't have like an AU or a story planned (? but i can share some little ideas under the cut.

The first time they meet is by accident. Hiccup and toothless got separated. It's the night fury the one that hears a strange sound. Following it into a cave there were dragons in cages along with a man with strange clothes opening those cages. The man sees the dragon and greets it, He calls himself The doctor. And tells toothless to get away before the dragon trappers get back to the cave.

The doctor invites hiccup and toothless to travel with him. Promising an adventure not only far away from the archipielago, but far away in the stars. When they see the tardis for the first time hiccup couldn't believe that it was bigger inside. He even started to take measures and making notes.

Hiccup learns that the doctor can speak dragon. He watches as the doctor and toothless hold a very long conversation. When he asks about it the doctor just says "Isn't it obvious? I speak dragon. Don't worry toothless was just saying good things. " Hiccup wants to learn dragon speech.

Hipo at first goes traveling with the doctor without telling anyone since they can go back home 5 minutes after leaving, time travel stuff. This is perfect for hiccup, he can go and have this crazy adventures without compromising his duties as the son of the chief.

Of course if you are observant you would notice that the boy started to became more taller really fast, and when asked about things that happened in the day he wouldn't remember those very well. This starts making problems.

- Hiccup and toothless go with the doctor and see different worlds, space whales and dragons surfing through the stars. The technology and the change of scenery can be too much but they are de terminated to explore and learn.

For the hiccup and jack ship in this Doctor who crossover.

This is in our time present (2023). When jack first appears, he is like a ghost. Can't be seen so he is always alone. Like a wind. He spends his time doing pranks and helping missing kids go back home.

His body is trapped in an old alien machine but his mind is " roaming free" in the world. That machine is inside an alien spaceship that fell into the earth many years ago. Jack "found it" when he fell into the frozen lake +/- 300 years ago. Jack like in the movie has seen the world go forward.

Jack can't go time travel into the TARDIS since his connection with his body will be broken. They can still travel around the globe.

In between adventures Hiccup and the doctor visit Jack. It's the most "normal life adventures" they can get lol. Jack teaches Hiccup about the technology and what the 21st century has to offer. Videogames, comics, how he spooks people in old buildings. Hell they can even go and urban exploration. Stop the typical alien invasion with the doctor. Jack meeting toothless. Hiccup talking about his life back at berk and his adventures with the doctor.

One day a group of aliens attacks a city searching for this machine. The doctor alongside Hiccup, Toothless and Jack try to stop the enemies plan. They discover the machine and that jack's body is inside of it. If the enemy finds it they will kill jack in order to use it themselves, the doctor wanted to destroy the machine but now they now is the only thing that is keeping jack "alive."

Now i don't know what they will do after that. Haven't thought much about it. But i know that i want Hiccup to meet both jack in the future, and in the past (before getting trapped in the machine) Maybe he does time after jack is gone. The doctor takes Hiccup 300 years in the past and meets Jackson Overland the week before he falls into the lake and into the machine.

He can´t stop what's going to happen to Jack but he can prolong it. So one day he asks him if he would like to join them. He does. Until jack decides to go back with his family and the day after that he falls into the ice.

I'm sorry that Jack/Hiccup doesn't have a happy ending. My friends told me that i can be a little angst machine.

Whale Star: The Gyeongseong Mermaid is set in Joseon (Korea) during the Japanese occupation. Su-a is very sweet and determined. She becomes mute due to having lye poured down her throat to kill her after accidentally overhearing a conversation between the resistance fighters. She eventually joins them, having witnessed firsthand the impact of the Japanese colonization. Even though she's in over her head at first she proves to be reliable and effective despite not knowing how to write or read at first.

Bug:

Their a bug that falls in love with a human they rescue and becomes human, but even when they don't get to keep their human body, they still get to be with their love. It's a sci-fi fairytale musical.

Little Mermaid meets Starship Troopers musical starring awesome puppets and the most trans coded main character ever. Please. Please vote Bug Starship I love him. Go watch Kick it Up a Notch from Starship. Go watch Status Quo from Starship. You will understand.

He's a bug and he lives in space on a bug planet but he really wants to be a starship ranger which you can only be if you are a human and then one day a spaceship lands on his planet and so he goes to an evil bug called Pincer who then helps him become a human. And Bug falls in love with a human on the spaceship and it's very sweet. The musical and storyline are based on the little mermaid story, the creators themselves called it "the little mermaid but in space". Bug wanting to be a human/a starship ranger and achieving that and falling in love with a human is very much like the little mermaid

Starship is a musical that can only be described as The Little Mermaid meets Starship Troopers. It follows Bug, an alien bug who dreams of being a Starship Ranger, a galactic explorer/soldier, but the rigid confines of bug society keeps him trapped in a job he hates. He reaches a Starship Ranger named February from the hive and immediately falls in love with her. In order to be with her and pursue his dream, he makes a deal with a giant scorpion named Pincer who through sci-fi bs gives him a human body. Near the end of the second act he sacrifices his human body and returns to his bug body, and saves the day and wins February's heart. It's truly the ultimate Little Mermaid. He has multiple songs, and his bug body is portrayed by a puppet!! Vote for Bug!!

They are the purest little mermaid adaptation done in the most unuque way. An alien insect gets turned into a human, a race he has always loved and admired, to be with the woman he fell in love with. Also just a great musical.

Bug's whole arc is so so in tune with that of the little mermaid. He is an alien who has fallen in love with humanity through a crashed spaceship and trades his place in the hive for a chance to be with both with the human he's falling for and to be a Starship Ranger. He body swaps with human in a cryogenic pod! It's literally sci-fi Little Mermaid!

beyond the creativity of the whole starship being accidentally pulled into some sort of space-rut with space whales, all because evidently the starship and the giant space squids move about with like warp technology or something (always hard to figure out what star trek characters mean by "signatures"), beyond the way they first try to participate in the rut like an elk digging his antlers in the dirt to make himself seem bigger and then attacking some other elk-guy, beyond the way they're only participating in this sexual behavior as a collective organism in a ship that the first episode has already explained is in some way composed of biomatter is because they don't want to kill any of their weird alien suitors, beyond the way tuvok gets to say "guess we're not cute anymore" all while the other plot of the episode is kes being just so goddamn gross and secreting all sorts of nonsense all because the horny space-creatures and also because she wants to have a kid with neelix of all things, beyond the fact that the thesis statement to this episode is just attenborough aggressively explaining how weird sex is, beyond all that: the fact that chakotay says this straight-faced and sincere while looking up at janeway is wild.

chakotay frequently gets to be the character to acknowledge the particularity of the perspective of whatever creature the crew happens to be dealing with that episode. giving narrative utility to the character's sensitivity. in this very weird episode, they block it so when he offers the right solution to the plot, he's standing below janeway who mostly just seems to be frowning in confusion the whole of the episode and being somewhat useless but for listening to her crew. which seems significant.

and like two episodes later they have a plot be resolved through the logic of surrender. a strange mini-plot in the overarching one of trying to get back home: the power of yielding, of submitting, in a way that only undercuts dignity if one isn't choosing it. and chakotay speaks of biological behavior on a ship he never intended to be on, in a part of the galaxy he has no connection to, in a uniform he'd set aside very deliberately before being tossed thousands of light years away, second-in-command to someone who seems constantly caught between fighting and giving up, depending on who/what she's facing on any given plot-day.

Well uh- due to my feed on stuff hating me forever, I now have a Humans are Space Orcs thought-

Whales.

This is gonna be a bit gross because it is specifically dead whales and how they bloat. If you DON'T know what I'm talking about I beg you to spare yourself this knowledge. It is horrifying enough to know and gross to possibly ever see.

Ssoooo, Earth is a Deathworld hellscape that honestly shouldn't be livable with how it is. Especially not with the various predators, even if Humans are scarier than them all. But when a human is talking about a whales body that had recently beached, the aliens were confused by the disgust on their face.

Alien 1: Usually your dead creatures bring you sadness, why does the whale bring disgust?

Alien 2: Yes, I remember you mentioned whales were large but beautiful creatures.

Human 1: Ah- well....whales themselves are great, don't get me wrong. It's just after they die, which does make me sad, they uhm...John help-

Human 2, John: They swell up till they explode if we don't do nothin.

Alien 1, feeling faint: what?

Alien 2, also feeling faint: explode?

Human 1, sighing: Yeah, it's a gas build up or something and you have to cut them open to release it. Causes a mini explosion of guts and stuff on ya.

John: I did it once, showered a whole 3 hours and still felt like it was on meh body. Really a shame.

Because honestly. It's horrifying enough for us that they literally explode after death, imagine this giant goliath of a sea creature that could easily kill probably anything dying and you think it can't do anything now only for its entire body to become a live bomb of its innards.

And we just learned that it's better to deal with it ourselves by stopping it from building up that much if they beach. Our solution to seeing a dead whale if we aren't experts on it or anything and can't do anything? "Oh just stay away, the skin will give at some point."

We just decided that yeah, this was fine.

The aliens decide this is not, in fact, fine. A new note is added to the human's deathworld guide, reminding how dangerous the sea of the human world is, even for semi or full aquatic species.

finally decided how the “whales” in whalefall are gonna look. giant space-dwelling megafauna of unknown origin, their ‘skin’ is a translucent, jelly-like membrane, allowing them to absorb the interstellar radiation they subsist on directly through the skin, and allowing their skeletons and organs (most of which are vestigial by now) to be seen right through it. with their massive blind eyes visible through closed eyelids, useless vestigial limbs hanging limp as they travel from orbit to orbit, bioluminescent organs shuddering and pulsating within as they convert raw energy into nutrients by a process not yet understood by science, they almost look like enormous, over-developed fetuses as they drift around in space. yet, the name of ‘interstellar whale’, though surely in reference to a passing resemblance to the cetaceans of earth, is also a nod to their most baffling feature — their “song”. it’s not yet known how they produce the incredibly powerful sound waves that are able to travel across the reaches of space, a form of communication between individuals that allows them to keep in touch even across solar systems, but their haunting alien melodies have baffled and bewitched us from the very first day they were discovered.

this, as well as their bizarre appearance combined with their mysterious and seemingly improbable existence makes the “whales” a strong point of fascination for mankind - so much so, that what started off as sporadic scientific research expeditions has long since evolved into entire spacefaring societies focused on tracking and studying these celestial behemoths in an attempt to understand how they manage to live so placidly in the cold vacuum of space.

^ (this was just for my own reference so i could get the tooth structure worked out in my head. their mouths are practically useless now, and they don’t seem to react to their surroundings in any noticeable way - at least, not on a scale that we could comprehend.)

Lets talk about The Sky

D&D is known for its exotic locales and fantastic spaces. It is fully ready to get its hands dirty digging down to the underground, the Underdark, but what about the sky above?

After a playthrough of Elden Ring I was inspired to create a “sky biome” similar to the “underground biome” of the underdark. An alien place with its own rules and logic that are different from us grounded folk. Nothing in this post needs to be canon by any means, all this is, is a theorycraft on what you could put into a sky biome in your world and how elements could work, feel free to take what you like!

To start it off here’s some things to keep in mind about living in the sky:

The Sky is Sparse. Like the open ocean there are few landmarks and guides to tell you where you are. There’s also vast, open spaces. Our sky is usually clear, your player characters aren’t often sighting floating islands or airships. This means maps of the sky biome will have broad open spaces between major points.

Difficult to Chart, Conquer. The sky biome is changing, moving, making it hard to chart and hard to conquer. Many pieces may be moving on their own over time. Maps may not always be accurate and you might need to source information to travel. You can always descend to the ground, but it takes considerable energy to land and take off.

A Resilient People. There are people dedicated to surviving some of the harshest conditions on earth. Likely anyone living in the sky is good at it, has been doing so culturally for eons, and wouldn’t want to stop just because of a few bits from land folks.

Exotic Resources. Creatures living in the sky may resort to different ways of sustenance. Sky leviathans may have forests growing on their back that give energy from the sun, cloud fortresses may harvest special plants that can only grow in their nutrient light soil. Each region may need its own way of feeding its people.

With that in mind lets check out some ways to put people in the skies!

Floating Islands are a staple in fantasy stories, from Sonic the Hedgehog to Avatar. Floating chunks of land with their own adapted flora/fauna, floating by natural or magical means. They make great places to build more traditional ground civilizations with farms, castles, towns, etc. A familiar start in an unfamiliar land. Sky islands could be subject to the moon’s pull or other celestial actions, moved as the moon moves.

Sky leviathans! Like blue whales of the deep the sky regions may have great creatures swimming through the clouds. They may prey on flocks of birds like krill, receive energy from the sun through forests and plants growing on their backs, or be more predatory like sky sharks. You could create forest cities on their backs worshipping the sky leviathan like a diskworld turtle, or structures could be artificially constructed around the sky leviathan like some D&D cruise ship. Aboard a leviathan you’re more at the mercy of wherever it travels, along for the ride as it were.

Airships! Another classic staple of fantasy adventure. Airships as a locale in the sky could be a variety of things. They could be a singular zeppelin, some great cruiser floating through the air. They could also be a fleet or formation of airships with wire ziplines serving as transportation airship to airship. These nomadic homes can easily travel wherever they please and stock up on resources from trading posts or internal farms.

D&D is a fantastic land with dwarves and giants, so why not make a castle made of clouds? Made by cloud giants, goliaths, wizards, gods, these wispy bastions rise high as indomitable fortresses of the sky. They could be major points of control in an attempted sky war, they could be subject to weather like snow or rain.

I’m making sky ruins its own category on this list, somewhere between floating islands and airships. Mysterious in origin and purpose, possibly moving on its own volition, possibly affecting the world around it with constant tornadoes or storms. Inhabitants could be ancients displaced from time, undead, constructs, or new inhabitants who don’t understand what they perch upon. This could also loop into Bioshock Infinite style constructed cities in the sky that are very much not (yet) ruined.

If we can have cave systems so deep they lead to the Underdark as a bridge from overworld to underworld why not have a bridge to the sky? Big Mountain. This is a mountain so large it moves from the overworld to the sky, a Mt Everest sized feature in the world. It should be difficult to ascend by foot but if you do you’re rewarded with a piece of the sky biome. It could be a roost for aarakocra on their migratory routes, monastery of those devoted to the winged, or even a great lair to a benevolent dragon more interested in trade than tyranny.

The last region I have for you is open sky! A no-man’s land region of the sky biome best traversed by endurance runners of fliers. Like the open ocean these are vast open spaces that could contain any number of uncharted bits of other regions or have flocks of flying creatures interacting. The open sky is defined by what it lacks and enticing for its boundless adventure. The answer is we don’t know, and by playing we discover.

And thats the sky! A region of untapped creative potential. I would love to hear other thoughts you might have for what could work as a region or landmark in the sky, or any thoughts you had reading through this! Happy exploring out there, friends!

Does anyone know Lance is in love with Keith? Of course not. And Lance would very much like to keep it that way, thank you! Keith already doesn't want anything to do with him ever since coming back from that space whale; the last thing Lance needs on top of his crumbling self-worth and shaky standing in the team is a rejection that shatters his heart in pieces, too. But now, Lance got himself in a bit of a pickle. Which is fine, because Lance has a plan to get out of it! A wonderful, brilliant, masterful, completely fool-proof plan. His team won't look at him like he's more incompetent than they already do, he won't have to spend the rest of his life trapped on some alien planet, and Keith will never find out just how head over heels he is for him. It's a win-win-win situation. Of course, with Keith, things are never quite so simple, and Lance's plan soon causes a domino effect that changes the entire course of his life. Or: Maybe Lance should have been a little more specific when he said he'd do anything to get home. Because now... "You must bestow a kiss on the one your soul most desires." ...Fuck.

after defeating an invading army and saving a princess and her people, lance, keith, and the paladins are invited for a coronation ceremony. problem is, the princess can't seem to keep her hands off lance, and keith has had enough. or keith is jealous, lance is oblivious (but sometimes it's not his fault), and everyone is tired of their antics
