Keith understands spanish to a certain extent, but not when Lance talks too fast (like me, a fellow Texan born and raised)

Lance, panicked, just got blown up, asking for his family in a rush? Nope

Lance, quietly calling Keith pretty when he thinks the other boy is sleeping? Yep

Lance getting excited when he meets Adam, and he just rambles for hours about how crazy it is that his childhood hero is gay? Nope

Lance refusing to tell the team he loves them in English unless it's a casual thing, if he's being serious it has to be spanish cause it feels more real that way? Yep

Lance getting pissed off at his niece and nephew for misbehaving, and scolds them rapidly in spanish? Nope

Lance being scared when Keith gets hurt, telling him in spanish "te necesito" (spelling is hard)? Yeah. Keith knows.

Anyways Keith knows but doesn't wanna tell him because then he might stop, and Keith refuses to take away Lance's language or his privacy (but if he thinks "te necesito" right back its okay)

So you’ve heard of “Lance talks about Keith and Spanish and Keith has no idea what’s going on” a beloved classic

But I bring you “Keith’s a born and raised Texan, (Texas has one of the highest Spanish speaking populations in the US) who was also partially raised by Adam who spoke Spanish around the house a lot. And so he understands most of what Lance is saying but is to embarrassed to admit he knows that Lance has talked about how soft his hair looked on at least three separate occasions “

keith who always has an earbud in. there are never words without whiskey-strong music behind them.

without the comfortable ache of his earbuds in his ears there is the sound of fighting and slamming doors. children crying and panicked breathing.

there is not a thing that convinces him to take those earbuds out.

he lives a life of white noise and soft rock.

until lance. lance who’s mouth runs and runs like a track star set loose.

lance who speaks like a fourth of july sparkler and is right at keith’s ear, trying to pry past the molded cushion of his earbud.

when the earbuds come out doorjambs rattling becomes lance pouring his coffee and yapping in spanish. hushed yelling becomes the pad of socked feet on floors and quiet storytelling.

the earbuds stay tucked away one day and do not return. keith has found a better white noise. one who’s words make sense.

Dude I have one.

Lance doesn't know Keith can speak Spanish. Keith grew up in a textex environment, he grew up on Selena, he know all the words to Amor Prohibido.

Keith understands all the bitchy comments Lance says about him under his breath and one day, out of nowhere, on the castleship, Keith snaps and calls him a hijo de puta.

Lance is at first utterly shocked but then outraged and they get into a needlessly big fight. Later that night Lance is like "hey.. so are you like.. fluent-fluent?" And Keith is like "I can understand better than I can speak, but I'm pretty decent " Lance gets very excited and starts casually talking to just Keith in Spanish. He whispers gossip to him and makes sparky remarks and Keith has to keep a straight face. Lance feels a little less homesick and Keith feels a little less alone.

Please this is so beautiful I love it.

I feel like Keith can secretly speak Japanese and ofc Lance can speak Spanish

So when Keith flirts with Lance it’s in Japanese and when Lance flirts with Keith it’s in Spanish

But neither of them know the other language and just guess there making fun of them

Little do they know that Pidge caught onto this and made a translator and recorded everything they have ever said to each other

And when they finally get together Pidge shares it with the team and now it’s kind of an inside joke

And yes Pidge waited until after they were together to show everyone because it was there (Keith and Lance’s) business and she does have a heart.

NOW INTRODUCING.... THE CRITTERS !!!

Technically Corvid is still a part of an au, i really like everyone's designs so i guess its just like a weird little au that are also kinda ocs?? Idk. Im still tagging it as the animatronicfication au and using the other ccs names but im completely separating wilbur from Corvid.

The one that probably changed the most is simp LMAO i just went back to his old design that was inspired by Luna (@starrixle's transfem simpbur turned oc) and Spencer is such a fitting name in my mind i literally can not imagine him with a different name *bwomp*

Also I'm working on refs for the other characters associated with the respective critters! I wanna finish them all and dump them into one post and I'll link it here when I'm done.

ANYWAY INFODUMP TIME

Before we go into individual characters i want to say that this is absolutely Minecraft. Like. The world is built off of Minecraft lore yk !!!! The overworld will still be called the overworld but it's basically just earth, with more magic and humanoid species! Along with supernatural creatures and cryptids n stuff :D also with more advanced tech considering Corvid exists pFF

Spencer for the most part kinda was like he is in canon or whatever. She used to lean more towards incel ideology because she was REALLY insecure and uncomfortable with herself for the longest time. Despite that, Spencer and Adrianne (egirl) started dating when they were 17, his unhealthy obsession with her was only fueled by her unhealthy attachment to him. They needed each other and it wasn't good for either of them. Spencer had developed horrible separation anxiety which only made things worse. Over time Adrianne became suffocated by his constant neediness, overwhelming insecurity, short temper and lack of contribution to household chores. It pained her to leave, but things needed to change. It wasn't until the breakup that Spencer met Shepard, who was his first irl friend in a long time. They met when they were around 22/23, at first Spencer just used Shepard as a distraction from Adrianne, especially since he was surprised that they wanted to even be his friend in the first place. But after a while he genuinely started to enjoy their company, plus they offered him really good advice and helped him through a gender/sexuality crisis. Eventually they became partners! Maybe not romantically, as they're both aromantic, but life partners nonetheless.

OH and i did make Spencer white/Salvadoran. Her mom is the first generation from immigrant parents while her dad is British; And her dad's younger brother is Adam's dad! He's also an ex-christian, he left due to religious trauma and moved to America to escape his family hA

Spencer's also a no sabo kid LMAO (he knows some words/phrases but other than that he cant speak Spanish to save his life)

ALSO ALSO. Oh my god i could talk about Spence all day LMAO but i made him a werewolf !!!! Hes SOO jealous of Adam because she wanted the cat genes but instead got bitten and turned into a werewolf as a teenager. She's done a pretty good job at hiding it from her family so Shepard's the only one who knows.

I already dumped everything about Adam into that other post, so I don't really have much else to add. HOWEVER !! Him and Spence are cousins now :3 Adam doesn't get to meet Spencer in person until he moves to America with Charlie & co, but he does follow her socials with his secret accounts that his parents don't know about. The only reason they know they're cousins is because Spencer's dad told her so and she reached out! Much to the dismay of Adam's parents but they've secretly kept in touch online.

Keith's pretty much stayed the same apart from a slight design revamp. Although I've made him a little older since originally i made him look young. But then I decided hes a dad so i started drawing him older for the asks pFF he also has a hooked nose now! In case it's not obvious. Keith got married to Jean VERY young, they were maybe 17/18 in human years. It was an arranged marriage and their only goal was to have an heir to the throne. Well they did, they had two kids, the eldest being a boy named Lune and the youngest being a girl named Sunny, who's the would be heir. Until Jean took both the kids and left. It was completely unprompted and left everyone in the kingdom confused, especially Keith. Sure, they had a loveless marriage and maybe he was insufferable at times, but he wanted to make it work if not for the kids then for the kingdom! But its been almost a year since she left, he's lost hope in ever finding her. Keith desperately wants his kids back, not because Sunny is the rightful heir— though that is part of it—but he loves them both dearly. He misses them the most.

Wilfred has pretty much stayed the same as well! I did give him a grey tshirt and darker hair to further distance his design from wilbur though. Hes just as unhinged and immoral as he used to be !!!! Nothing has changed aside from appearance actually.

Tobi also pretty much stayed the same except for its now got an orange jumper and lighter brown hair pFF although i do now have a story for him! Tobi was found by Alejandro in a storage auction, he managed to sell a lot of pretty valuable things from there but Tobi stood out, obviously, so he kept it. Alejandro is a travel vlogger and lives in an RV with his friends: Tomas, Philip and Charles. His friends just call him Alex. Anyway, they go from town to town trying local food, visiting tourists traps and vlogging the journey! While doing that they also try to find out how to get Tobi's memories back and possibly turn him human again, if they even can. So far they haven't had much luck but maybe one day...

Corvid was created as the backup singer and lead guitarist of the first all animatronic band! Brought to you by Beloved Entertainment! The other members include lead singer Ranboo Beloved, keytarist Tommy Raccoon, and bassist James Tomcat. Located in Ranboo's Mega Pizzaplex, the only location in the world (so far). Corvid adopts a showman personality while on stage, hes charismatic and such a heartthrob, very popular with the ladies. Off stage he's very calm and soft spoken, he's rather shy but still manages to be a flirt and a tease. Lightly poking fun at his bandmates, coworkers and even guests at times. He's definitely a fan favorite for a reason!

This was so fun to write and i cant wait to share more !!!! Stay tuned !!!!!!

The streets were more crowded than normal and Keith wanted nothing more than to sit in one of the cafe tables on the side of the sidewalk and pass the fuck out. The closer he got to Balmera, the more dread filled his stomach. He prayed to the universe for any reason at all to skip work.

Of course that was when some guy spun around in front of him and whacked him in the face with a guitar.

That wasn’t necessarily the sign he wanted.

“Oh my god I am so sorry!” There were hands on his face joining his. His vision was blurry so he couldn’t make out the stranger's face. He tried weakly to push them away but they stayed. Keith looked down at his hands and saw some red.

The guy who was cradling his face gasped. “Oh no. Oh my god. Dios- Lo siento, I am so sorry.”

Keith blinked and watched as the, apparently spanish speaking, guy grabbed some napkins from a nearby cafe table and handed them to Keith.

“Lance, What happened?” There was now a taller guy beside this Lance guy.

Lance ignored his friend. “Are you okay?”

Keith sucked in a breath and nodded. Lance looked like he was about ready to cry.

“Oh he’s bleeding.”

“I’m fine.” Keith huffed. This wasn’t enough to get out of work and now he had to be customer friendly with and aching face. This was great.

Too bad Keith had seen the guy’s pretty face. Now he wasn’t even mad at him.

“Are you sure? Is it broken? Oh my god I broke your nose didn’t I? I’m so, so sorry. Here, you can have my number and you can-”

“I’m serious.” Keith stopped him. His nose was not in fact broken. “It’s fine. I gotta get to work though.”

“I-” Lance, the poor guy, looked so lost.

“Thanks for the napkin.” Keith waved the two boys off and continued down the sidewalk.

one of my biggest keith headcanon is that he just kinda picks up languages

considering i also subscribe to the asian keith headcanons (not a specific one but mainly southeast or east asian) he probably speaks an east or south east asian language (maybe taught by his dad when he was super young and just kinda absorbed it like small kids do and probably went back to it later in life)

during his time in the foster system he was probably around a lot of different people and maybe picked up a bit of Spanish considering he lives in texas and when meeting and getting close to shiro he picked up a bit of Japanese

later on maybe picking up some light altean and a fair bit of galran after meeting his mum n getting closer to her

but its also definitely something he doesnt tell people until he's suddenly speaking that language and you have to double take (tbh i think that way with a fair amount of his hobbies)

welcome the the tenth fic rec friday! where, on friday, i rec five of my favourite fics.

1. i was always yours (even before you knew it) by paladarns

Lance thought Keith was just an asshole. Lance has always thought of Keith as an asshole, all throughout traveling into space in a large mechanical lion, all throughout bonding moments. All throughout becoming closer as teammates and friends.

Even now, with his hands pinned above his head and Keith’s thighs straddling his waist, Lance thinks Keith is an asshole.

Lance had always thought he could see right through people, but now he’s starting to think he has a bad judgement of people.

Keith has never loved someone like he loves Lance. Lance is his sun, his stars, his happiness. Their hands fit together like they were created to do nothing but hold each other, and he fits perfectly inside of Lance's arms. But he can never let anyone find out how much he loves this boy, how wholly and endlessly. Who knows what the Galra would do with that kind of information?

One morning, the lie comes crashing down around them.

Maybe it won't be as bad as they feared.

i love gay whipped klance and truly every single fic that has ever been written based on a vine is truly amazing, this fic is no exception. also secret relationship lol i am a sucker

3. Something Secret by @kingswriting

It was funny at first. Their arguments became more banter than actual disagreements, yet the entire team continued to assume they were at each other’s throats.

And Lance knows they’re not. He is fully aware that every sharp word, every sly smirk, every heavy handed push, and everything in between is anything but malicious.

But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t miss the softer side of things.

Or, Lance and Keith are in a secret relationship, but honestly want to omit the 'secret' part.

okay u can always tell what tag im following obsessively at certain times lol. for yall i present yet another secret relationship fic. ahem. this one is cute! banter and flirting and misleading and kisses and GOD its so sweet

4. Things Held Sacred by yarrie

So maybe, just maybe, Pidge was right. Maybe, just maybe, Keith had shot himself in the foot with his first attempt at resolving the blanket-hogging situation, because now Lance seemed to think it was a game and the rules were: steal the blankets, get sex.

To be fair, Keith hadn't exactly been...dissuading him very well.

okay so heres how this works. every fic rec friday so far has been from a specific collection of mine called ‘rereadables’, which was literally started because of this fic. i dont even know what specific part of this fic gets to me so hard, but you know when you read something that makes your stomach go all swoopy? and you can’t stop smiling? thats this fic! i remember i finished it for the first time and then i scrolled right back up to the top and read it again, then again, and again. like i cannot get over this fic. it gives me butterflies every time

5. Communication is key, they say by @ellana17

They already had communication issues before… Or: a malfunction with a healing pod leaves Lance able to speak only Spanish for a few days.

the idea of lance getting stuck in spanish and then almost immediately using that to flirt with keith without him knowing. like. i love that SO much that is quite possibly one of the funniest concepts to exist
