imagine living through the great depression and then also living through this time of great abundance and careless consumption… i can’t imagine the shock of that for characters like steve or bucky, and even once that initial shock must have worn off, the discomfort that returns. that feeling of being much, much too old, having survived far too long. i wish they touched on this more in the movies because it’s such a compelling narrative.
