How long can you illustrate for a game without designing your own character?! Here is a first peek at my elven spellweaver, based in The Dark Eye ttrpg setting. Have no name for him, yet. Still have to read into that part of the lore.

“Does it hurt?” Faelyn asked. “I’m sorry. Of course it hurts.”
She didn’t know what to do. They had no magical items- at least non powerful enough for Gale’s orb to be, temporarily, satisfied.
“I…I don’t know what to do,” she wiped the tears from her cheek. “What can I do?”
“You do plenty for me. More than you realize.” Gale said.
“Here you are in agonizing pain yet you’re the one comforting me,” Faelyn tried to smile but couldn’t. Her shaking fingers reached out gently touching the middle of the glowing circle. “I wish I could help you.”
The glow began to pulse slowly. Faelyn tried to pull away but Gale held her hand in place. After a few minutes, he let go. His breathing slowed back to normal and his face relaxed.
“I don’t know what you did, but I feel…better. The orb still hungers but it’s more of a dull roar.” He kissed her hand.

"Unsanctioned" background introductions
As I get closer to finishing the editing of the three backgrounds available for the MC, I've finally managed to put together a short summary of each one. Alternative, shorter versions of these summaries will be included the game for the player to read over before committing to a background.
These include light spoilers, so I'll post them under the cut in case you'd rather skip it!
The Aristocrat
As devout and loyal servants to the city of Dust and Gold, the Belnac name has remained untainted and unsoiled in the eyes of the public and would remain so still if not for the calamity that happened a century ago.
Among the elite, the sins of your family are nothing more than a shared, painful memory.  A sin many of the aristocracy bear, but no one bears to speak out loud.
But the past is the past, and the future of your house is looking bright. With your older brother Cassius already a Spellweaver, hopes for the youngest Belnac to follow in his footsteps are high.
On the eve of your ninth birthday, seated among the most distinguished subjects of the Crown, your parents announce their plans to send you to the Institute of Arcane Arts, mapping out your future with one ceremonious toast.
How you feel about the matter is a secondary concern when faced with tradition and expectation, but you have witnessed what the favourable gaze of the One can do to a person, and it has left you wondering about, perhaps even fearing, the unspoken horrors of that gaze.
The Scavenger
You’ve worked as a treasure hunter – a glorified scavenger – for near three years, serving a vital role in the group of misfits known in Talzaric’s less prosperous areas as the “Finders”.
With your unreliable line of work and general circumstances, you had never expected a mysterious, wealthy client to contact your group for a very special job: locating the Remnant of a sorcerer long since dead.
In over your heads but beckoned by the promise of riches, you set out on one last journey together and make your way to the treacherous Grimhills to locate the relic and bring it back to the capital. But the promise of gold births greed, and when ensnared in a web of scheming witches, so too does fear risk breaking the bonds of once sworn friends.
The Nomad
Before your name was attached to your person, it had been a whisper on the breeze; a message sent by the gods.
You are a child of the nomadic tribe Reshve – a branch sprawling from the tree of clans called Ytrahan’s Grasp. Your family has been wandering the world ever since the usurpers the settlers named their guardians used the creature known as “the One” to further their own gains.
As followers of the Eterals – the now-imprisoned gods – you have been declared outlaws by the Crown and keep close to the unpredictable forests and swamps that conquer Aíos’ natural world, avoiding larger settlements.
When a seer predicts your future rise to power, you find yourself becoming the main focus of your respected grandmother, Grand Conjurer of your clan. A newfound responsibility settles upon your shoulders; one of many already weighing you down as the eldest of your siblings in the absence of your birth mother. But visions breed uncertainty, and this one in particular pierces the mind of an ambitious and envious younger sister.

Dragon Age Origins - Against All Odds
Ysmeria and Teagan
Tumblr media
I spent a lot of time working on a Dragon Age Origins romance fic for Teagan and my Surana, Ysmeria, from 2021 through 2022. Since there are a lot of posts containing art, fic and headcanons, I've decided to compile them all here so they're easier to find and read in order. Ultimate goal is to eventually post the fic with images to ao3. This post will remain a WIP and I'll continue to update as I post new art and fic. I've divided it up into main storyline, post DAO, AUs and headcanons for easier navigation. Their tag is Teagan x Ysmeria.
A big shout-out to my fellow Teaganmancer, @fantasy-art-room, who helped inspire me to continue this project for so long! You are amazing, and I'm so glad we found one another! :)

This is pretty much what happens when Faelyn pulls him from the stone. He lands basically on top of her (cliche I know and I don’t care). Faelyn is internally screaming: OMG! THERE WAS A PERSON IN THERE! OMG HES ON TOP OF ME! 😱AHHH!! HES TOUCHING ME!! MUST GET AWAY!! 😨CANT HAVE HIM SEE ME! WHAT IF HE RECOGNIZES ME?!?!?!😰
Then there’s Gale:

“The much-feared hands of a spellweaver. I quake.” “The fists of an Avenger. Trained by the best.” — Scarlet Witch (2023) #5
okay, so basically, what happened is I was looking back through the Scarlet Witch tag on @why-i-love-comics and I saw this panel:

and I was INSPIRED. the expression was just sooooo tasty that I had to try it out with my own Wanda :D
I also decided to use this piece as an opportunity to imitate the work of @romyjones, specifically her rendering style. she's a big art inspiration for me, and definitely one of my favorite artists in general!! I looove the way she mixes hard and soft edges (it's a thing I'm trying to improve on in my own work), and there's this thing she does with shading where she kinda changes the hue to blue-green in the very darkest areas that I wanted to try out for myself, haha. I am also in LOVE with the way she draws and renders hair—it looks so soft and sooooo good—so I decided to take cues from her work there as well. seriously, go follow her, her work is lovely!! 10/10 would recommend :)

Elegy to the Desperate Stars
Elegy [noun]. A poem written in remembrance of the dead
Aira's world is collapsing around her. She doesn't like living in Milan, she hates being so far from Leo and Yume, the dizzy spells she's suffered from for the past decade are getting worse and her mother is still trying to convince her that magic doesn't exist. Aira knows better though. She held magic in her hands before her twin's death. And the magical colony hidden in Milan's alleys is filled with familiar faces. Like a fly on a spider's web, Aira navigates the lies her mother wove. She knows she's started to unravel them. Now it's just a matter of finding the right string, and why it all converges around Aleji and the journal her mother left behind.

The Spellweaver’s Grimoire
The Spellweaver’s Grimoire is one of the most revered and mysterious artifacts in the magical world of Enchancia. Created by Aelric Spellbound, the founder of the Spellbound lineage, it is not merely a book but a living repository of magical knowledge, bound by enchantments that evolve with each generation of the family. The Grimoire is considered the heart of the Spellbound legacy, holding secrets and spells that have shaped the course of magic for centuries.
Origins of the Grimoire
The creation of the Spellweaver’s Grimoire dates back to the Age of Arcane Awakening, a tumultuous period when magic was feared and misunderstood. Aelric Spellbound, a visionary mage, sought to bridge the gap between magic and humanity by creating a tome that would preserve the balance between power and responsibility.
Legend has it that Aelric spent decades crafting the Grimoire, drawing upon his deep connection to elemental spirits and his understanding of magical harmony. He infused it with spells that were not only powerful but also designed to work in harmony with nature and human intent. The Grimoire was enchanted with self-writing magic, allowing it to record new spells and insights from each Spellbound who contributed to its pages.
Physical Description
The Spellweaver’s Grimoire is a massive tome bound in dark emerald leather, its cover embossed with the family crest—a phoenix rising from intertwining vines. The pages are made from an enchanted material that resists decay, glowing faintly when touched by someone of Spellbound blood.
The book is locked with a magical clasp that can only be opened by those deemed worthy. When unworthy individuals attempt to open it, they are met with harmless but humiliating enchantments—such as being temporarily turned into a harmless creature or covered in glittering magical dust.
Magical Properties
The Grimoire is more than just a collection of spells—it is a sentient artifact imbued with Aelric’s essence. It has several unique properties:
Adaptive Spells: The spells within the Grimoire evolve over time, adapting to new magical challenges and incorporating innovations from its users.
Selective Access: Only those who demonstrate balance in their intentions can access its most powerful sections. Even members of the Spellbound family must prove themselves worthy.
Guiding Voice: The Grimoire occasionally communicates with its wielder through whispers or written messages on blank pages, offering advice or warnings.
Elemental Resonance: The book reacts strongly to elemental magic, amplifying spells cast by those aligned with their elemental affinity.
Notable Sections
The Grimoire is divided into several sections, each focusing on a different aspect of magic:
The Elemental Codex: A compendium of spells tied to earth, air, fire, and water magic.
The Weaving Arts: Instructions for creating complex enchantments that blend multiple schools of magic.
The Healing Pages: Spells for restoration and purification, contributed by healers like Esmara Spellbound.
The Shadow Wards: Defensive spells designed to protect against dark magic and corruption.
The Prophetic Verses: Cryptic prophecies that foretell significant events in the magical world.
Role in Family History
Throughout history, the Spellweaver’s Grimoire has played a pivotal role in shaping the destiny of the Spellbound family:
During times of war, it provided protective enchantments that shielded entire villages from harm.
In eras of peace, it served as a guide for teaching younger generations about balance and responsibility.
When Thalion Spellbound attempted forbidden experiments, it was the Grimoire’s warnings that ultimately led him to abandon his dangerous pursuits.
Winifred often referred to the Grimoire as "the soul of our family," emphasizing its importance in maintaining their legacy. Goodwyn valued it as both a tool for heroism and a reminder of their duty to protect Enchancia.
Cedric’s Connection to the Grimoire
As a child, Cedric was fascinated by the Grimoire but struggled to unlock its deeper secrets due to his insecurities and impatience. He often spent hours poring over its pages, hoping to find spells that would help him prove himself worthy of his parents’ expectations.
It wasn’t until Cedric began working alongside Seraphine that he truly connected with the Grimoire. Her influence helped him approach magic with greater balance and humility, unlocking sections he had never been able to access before. Together, they discovered forgotten spells for purifying corrupted artifacts—knowledge that proved invaluable during their adventures.
Seraphine’s Contributions
After marrying Cedric and becoming part of the Spellbound legacy, Seraphine added her own contributions to the Grimoire. Her healing spells—rooted in both traditional magic and her unique affinity for water—expanded its Healing Pages significantly.
One spell she created, known as Seraphine’s Embrace, became renowned for its ability to restore harmony not just within individuals but also within entire ecosystems affected by magical imbalance.
Modern Role
Today, Cedric and Seraphine see the Spellweaver’s Grimoire as more than just an artifact—it is a living symbol of their family’s mission to preserve balance between magic and nature. They have begun using it as part of their teachings at the Academy of Balance, ensuring that future generations understand both its power and its responsibility.
As Cedric often says:
"The Grimoire doesn’t just teach us how to wield magic—it teaches us why we should."

She felt useless…well more than normal…as she watched Gale clutch at his chest. His circular scar glowed bathing the tent in purple light.
“Tell me what to do,” she asked as tears threatened to fall.
“You already do plenty for me,” Gale said then smiled at her. “Far more than you realize.”
With a shaking hand, Faelyn reached out and rested her finger tips against his skin. “My god, you’re burning up. Let me get some cool water and…” Her words cut off as he grabbed her hand, pressing her palm onto his chest.
“This is all I need.”

Elvhen Lyrium Weapons
Found some elven weapons (and one ring) that seem to be made with/using lyrium in dao. Given what we know now about titans and lyrium from the Deep Descent DLC, I thought it was pretty interesting:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Not sure if there are any others that I missed. Interesting that spellweaver's description calls it a lost art. I guess this is one of the things elves were mining lyrium for.

BACKSTORY:
Axel was born in the Court of Stars, into a family of high status and influence within the court. From an early age, he was immersed in both the intricate world of fae politics and the study of magical arts. His education at court included training in etiquette, diplomacy, and combat. He was mentored by a trusted elder, a long-standing guide to his family and someone who shaped much of his early development. Once his training was complete and he had gained enough experience through practice and a series of challenging simulations, he achieved the rank of ambassador. His family’s close ties to the Queen and their considerable influence played a part in his rapid rise. For the first few years in his new position, he was the target of resentment from a particularly bitter noble. That noble eventually moved on to direct their scorn toward another newly promoted fae, as was their habit.
He was slow to let go of the arrogance that came from his privileged upbringing. Though he has become more open and willing to listen, a trace of that arrogance still remains. He was never close to his parents, so leaving them behind when he was assigned to New York came easily. Leaving his home, however, was harder. In the end, he did not regret it. He received a mark for distinguished service after dealing with a particularly troublesome group of rogue vampires who had been working to reduce fae influence. He ultimately defeated one of the strongest among them, using not only his wit but also his considerable magical skill. He found humans strange and their emotions messy. He often prefers to watch and observe from a distance. Over time, he began to understand them.
The fae has lived in New York for many years, residing in an apartment heavily glamoured to blend into the human world. His shadow cat, Nyx, whom he first met and bonded with during his earlier studies, remains by his side and is also hidden through glamour. His magic blends various styles, including illusion and nature-based spells. He secretly watches over a select few individuals, including humans with fae ties and those with dormant fae lineage. There are whispers among some that his rise through the ranks was too fast, and some suspect that darker powers were involved. Others believe that his shadow cat is more than it seems.
Time away from the Court has allowed him to discover not only more about himself but also about life beyond the structured world of courtly politics. He has come to prefer the company of different kinds of people and now makes his own judgments, no longer relying solely on courtly standards.
