No piece of media could even ATTEMPT to commentate on society than in the way peter parker just sleeps off a massive swelling spider bite because he can't afford to go to the hospital

Do you know this Jewish character?
Tumblr media
Edit: Sorry guys I forgot Andrew Garfield played Spider-Man! (I have never watched a superhero movie ever.) It was in fact a grave mistake on my part to not have his picture. So, updated poll with the iconic Jewish bisexual Spider-Man!

This is THE Spiderman edit about the cost of being Spiderman.
“You can’t save everyone” but what kind of hero are you if you don’t even TRY.

Alright, just finished the Toby McGuire Spider-Man movies last night, here are my final thoughts and comparisons to the MCU Spider-Man movies
1. Harry was not written as a character, he was written as a figurative representation of Peter's grief and I am LIVING for it
- I like this more than in the MCU where they just have Ned there to be a cool guy in the chair. Let's get Tom Holland a FOIL character already
2. The villains aren't villains. They're all victims of circumstance, perfectly curated to Spider-Man to help teach him forgiveness, mercy, and responsibility, the main themes of Spider-Man's character
- This is WAYYYY better than in the MCU, but this is mostly because the MCU is so huge that a lot of movies don't give them the freedom to curate the villains to Spider-Man.
3. Toby McGuire Peter Parker is annoying. He never ACTUALLY learns how to fully prioritize MJ's needs OR be responsible with his power. It feels like every time he learns something, he just forgets it right after. And I get that character growth needs to be gradual, but come ON this is practically Sisyphus coded!
- I like Tom Holland Spider-Man way more. He learns and grows, and he doesn't start out as an annoying character either, he just has room to grow at the beginning. I do wish they fleshed out MCU Spider-Man with the backstory a little more, but maybe they have plans to, I don't know. (Also Tom Holland is really pretty and I might be just a LITTLE bit 🏳️‍🌈)
Overall, the Toby McGuire series is objectively better. It's artistic, it's filled with metaphors, and each character is specifically curated to the story and the growth of the protagonist. It's also annoying as heck at times though and I will be sticking to the Tom Holland movies. Thank you very much, I will release another update when I watch all of the Andrew Garfield movies lol.

God love Toby McGuire's spiderman for getting bit by a potentially deadly spider and just deciding to sleep it off

I watched a couple of Spiderman movies with Toby McGuire and they are so so calm and slow. Sure, there is action, fighting and jumping between buildings, but compared to the Marvel Spiderman movies it is so nice and easy to follow.
I really am made for another type of movie.

I've never really been a Spider-man girly...
I loved reading Marvel comics and watching the TV shows and movies but Spidey just didn't appeal?? Much more a Thor and Ironman bitch to tell ya the truth
But like- I loved Toby, growing up his movie was one of the first superhero films I'd seen, and he still gets points now for nostalgia. I was eventually on board with Andrew once I actually watched the movies however was pretty against it in the beginning cause I loved Toby's sm [William Defoe + Alfred Molina>>> carried.] and truth be told I only watched when Jamie Foxx entered the chat. I warmed up to Tom?? [Not really] But still not much a fan of the character, I liked No Way Home and his appearance in CW + IW that's about it. So, no, I haven't seen Into the Spider-verse even though everyone I talk to who has seen it thinks it's amazing and I lowkey wanted to but just didn't cause it felt so pushed [I hate being told to try things specifically if it's currently trending]
And yet...because I'm a useless fucking pathetic Big Boy SIMP I have currently found myself tryna talk me into watching the movies thanks to a certain variant I'm sure we call all guess who-thefuck-why.
When the movie was first announced I saw exactly ONE clip of him. It mentioned he had fangs- I've been a fucking goner since.
Anyway, this has been a pointless post about my reluctant Spider-man crush and a free pass to any sudden spam posting about Said Character that will may appear on my page, thanks for reading ♡
