Summer Fun w/Eren💗
Summary:Eren trying to convince you to get in the freezing cold river.
warnings: nothing but fluff😊
word count:1k? idk but it’s a good amount
Tumblr media
You guys arrived to Laughlin, nevada yesterday in the night and now you guys are at the river.
“Baby, lets get in the water.”Eren says as he puts on sunscreen. You look at up him from the lounge chair.
“Si la agua está fría then no” You tell him as you put sunscreen on your legs. He pouts a little. “I don’t want to go in by myself.”
“Ren..The others are coming down in a little.” You say as you reach into your bag to put your phone away. “They’re not going to be here for another hour! Please, baby. I swear it’s not that cold” He pleads
“If it’s cold then i’m going to yell at you” You sigh, getting up from the chair. Eren grins, wrapping his arms around your waist.
“It’ll get warm after awhile,mi nena” He mumbles, placing a kiss on your forehead. “I haven’t been here since i was 15 and it was pretty cold” You let go of him and fix your bikini top.
You grab your mojito from the table and hand Eren, his beer. “you were 15 but now you’re 22 so maybe your body will react differently.” You look at him with a dumb look. “You sound so stupid right now”
You walk away from him and he laughs. He follows behind you, walking into the water like it’s nothing he’s freezing. “Look, baby, it’s not even cold” He drinks his beer.
“Eren if you’re lying to me, te voy a joder.” You threaten him but he only laughs. You dip your toe in the water and immediately walk back.
“Baby, you just gotta walk in like it’s nothing!” He says in pleading voice. “Dude it’s super cold! I’m not gonna get in!” You yell at him.
He pouts. “Baby, don’t be like that!” He walks out of the water, grabbing your hand. “Don’t pull me in” You whine, forcing yourself to stay still but he’s just too strong!
He grabs your drink from your hand and lifts you up with the other. You scream. “If you fucking put me down in the water,i’m making you sleep on the floor!” You yell, laughing a little.
He puts you down in the water, the water above your waist. You look at him, pissed “Oh shit, nena. I didn’t think it was that deep for you” He lifts you back up and taking you a little closer to the shore.
“Obviously not, pinche tonto. You’re 6’2,dumb fuck” You say as your teeth clatter. The water now stays below your waistline.
“You have to dip your whole body or else you’ll get sick” Eren says as he hands you back your drink. “Fuck that,i’d rather get sick then go under water” You mumble, taking a sip.
He laughs, his arm hugging your neck and pressing a soft kiss on your head.
“I’ll make it up to you when we get back to the hotel room” He whispers in your ear. You smile and wrap your arms around his waist, trying not to spill your drink.
———
“No,Connie! If you’re gonna be in here then don’t splash us!” You yell at him, covering yourself with your arms. Sasha throws her glasses at him.
“I brought water guns so they’ll get wet either way” Connie whispers to Eren. “Dude, Y/n was so mad when i brought her in. Dont make her more mad” Eren chuckles
“Just buy her more alcohol and you’ll be good” Connie slaps Eren’s shoulder. Eren just laughs and shakes his head. He goes back to the table to grab your drink
He admires the way you talk to Mikasa and Sasha. He admires the way you laugh with them. He admires the way you look in that bikini that matches his eyes. He admires everything about you and how you look ten times more beautiful during the summer.
“Eren, you made me get in here so now you have to stay in here with me” You yell at him. He smiles and walks over to you and places a big kiss on your lips.
Summer is always the best with you💗

Yesterday I had an autistic meltdown. It's the first one I've had in ages and in retrospect I should have seen it coming, I was tired and wired for so many reasons, but, when my bike chain snapped in heavy traffic and I started wailing and screaming at the side of the road, it still took me by surprise.
Of course I had to force myself back together, slap the mask back in place and carry on with my task, but when I got home I wondered how sweet it would be to have someone who understood, someone who you trusted so much that they could reach you in that dark place and pull you out.
And so I wrote this story. This is probably my most shameless self-insert ever, but I need this right now because it heals me in a way nothing else can.
Tumblr media
A Moment of Peace
Sebastian hurried down the stairs, the sound of pounding music growing louder with every step he took. He winced as someone opened the door leading to the main party room and the noise instantly tripled.
"Yo, dude!" Sam saluted him with a dripping beer can, tottering unsteadily on his feet.
Sebastian frowned, he really didn't want to ignore his best friend, it was his birthday after all, but he had been away from his wife for far too long and he needed to get back to her.
He had only intended to be gone for a few minutes but Shane had cornered him as soon as he stepped outside the bathroom and, deep in his cups, had suddenly decided Sebastian was his best and only friend in the world and had pulled him aside to regale him with tales of past gridball escapades. Not one of which Sebastian had been even remotely interested in but he had been too polite to extricate himself as quickly as he should and now his concern for Lily was rising. She had already looked frazzled when he left her and the increased sound levels wouldn't have helped any.
"Hey Sam," he shook his head as his friend offered him a drink with a wide, fuzzy grin. "No thanks, I was actually thinking of calling it a day and heading home soon. Have you seen Lily?"
"Awww," Sam wobbled over and elbowed him in the side. "You're always the firsht to leave… I shwear, much as I love you, you are such an old man when it comes to partiesh." He slung his arm around Seb and took another swig from his can. "You know I love you, don't you man? You're… hic… my besht friend, you know that, right…?"
Despite his concern, Seb couldn't help but shake his head and laugh. Sam nearly always reached this stage after he'd been drinking a while. Give him long enough and he'd be declaring his undying devotion to the nearest hat stand next.
"I love you too, dude," he patted his friend on the back. "But I really need to old man it out of here, you know I can't cope with this kind of thing for long… where did you see Lily last?"
"I know, dude, I know… you poor old thing." Sam chuckled and started patting him on the back too.
Seb sighed good-naturedly and rolled his eyes, wondering if it would be quicker to go look for himself.
"Sam… where's Lily?"
At that precise moment the door to the main room slammed open and a wild eyed Emily came racing out.
"Oh, Sebastian! Thank Yoba you're here! It's Lily, please, come quickly. She's so upset and I just don't know what to do!"
Sebastian's heart pounded into life as the blue-haired girl grabbed hold of his arm and pulled him after her.
"What happened?"
"I don't know, she tripped and spilled her drink on someone and then she just started screaming and crying. I tried to comfort her but she just pushed me away." She looked up at him, an agony of confusion plastered across her face. "I've never seen her like this before, Seb… what…?"
"It's okay," Sebastian laid a calming hand on her shoulder as they entered the room and were brought to a halt by the scene in front of them.
Lily stood in the centre of the room, empty glass still clutched in her hand, body shaking, tears streaming down her face, endless high-pitched wails keening from her throat. The whole area around her was completely devoid of people, everyone standing back against the walls, staring helplessly, afraid, uncomprehending, no one knowing what to say or do to help the distraught girl.
Sebastian took it all in within a moment. Unlike everyone else, he knew just what had happened. He had seen his wife like this before. It only ever happened when she was completely at her wit's end. When everything became too much for her. When the world and everything in it was too loud, too intense, too painful, too everything to cope with any more.
Remorse choked the back of his throat as he internally berated himself for bringing her here. Dealing with her mother's illness on top of all the farm work had been too much for her. He knew it had. All those endless hospital visits. Seeing her mother in such pain. She had insisted she was fine but he should have known better.
He started to move towards her.
"Seb, careful," Emily looked panicked. "She won't let anyone near her right now."
"It's okay," he repeated. "She'll let me." He pushed Emily towards the stereo. "Go turn the music off for me."
Emily nodded and rushed off to obey, seemingly glad to have something to do.
Sebastian came to a halt in front of his wife, sighed with relief as the music cut off mid-beat and gently folded his arms around her, pulling her against his chest. The glass dropped from her hand and shattered on the ground as she immediately clutched on to him.
"Shhhhh," he stroked her hair and rocked her. "Shhhhh, Lily. It's okay, it's okay."
Everyone stared as her wails gradually quieted, began to murmur among themselves, moving slowly closer to the couple.
"Is she going to be all right?" Sam asked from the doorway, face white with worry, suddenly stone cold sober.
Sebastian waved everyone back. "She'll be fine, but I need to get her out of here."
"This way, dude," Sam immediately held the door open for them. "Give them some space, people!"
Everyone moved back again, concern etched on their faces. Sebastian had no time to spare for them. He lifted his wife into his arms and carried her out and around the side of the house until he made his way onto the path that led back towards town.
The warm, quiet summer night was a sweet balm to his nerves. He felt her arms tighten instinctively around him, lifted her a little higher, her body light as a feather in his arms, and started to walk.
After nearly two years of marriage, Sebastian knew what calmed his Lily better than anybody.

The sound of the ocean waves filled her ears until it seemed that it was the only thing in the world. She remembered all the times as a little girl when she had run to the sea to escape her home, sitting on the sand by the water's edge, listening, watching, hypnotised by the sound and the sight. So beautiful, so soothing, she could stay there for hours.
She could hear another sound too. A strong, steady heartbeat pulsing in her ear where her head lay against a warm, solid chest, reassuring arms that held her close. She could feel a body in her arms too and redoubled her hold on that body, pushing herself deep into it, sighing as she felt comforting hands run gently up and down her back, lips softly brushing the hair on the top of her head.
"Seb?" She knew the words were hers, yet they seemed to come from so far away.
"Lily…" his hands continued their gentle motion. "It's okay baby, everything's okay. Shhhh, shhhh."
She felt warmth spreading through her, peace flowing into her from everywhere their bodies touched, her heart rate slowing with every moment, breathing deepening, shaking ceasing, tension melting from her muscles, a feeling as sweet as a sunbeam bathing her body from tip to toe.
She whimpered and lifted her head to look at him, eyes finally finding focus again on her beloved's face.
"Oh… Sebby… how long have we been here?"
He smiled down at her, his gaze full of infinite patience and understanding, fingers gently smoothing her cheek. "An hour, maybe longer, does it matter?"
The moonlight made his skin glow, his eyes deeper and darker than she had ever seen them before and her heart ached as the warmth of his love flowed from those eyes and into her.
She reached up and touched his face.
"Seb…"
He was the only one who could ever hold her when she had a meltdown, the only one who had ever been able to soothe her.
"Thank you."
"You're welcome, sweetheart."
He pulled her close again and she clung to him, sobbing with relief and gratitude for something she never thought she'd have in her entire life.
A moment of peace with a man she loved beyond all else.
~The End~

July 2nd - Daniel Ricciardo
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Based on New Year's Day by Taylor Swift and this request by @spikejonzed
Fluffly, mentions of sex, banter, nothing graphic.
BTW, I don't know how I've never paid attention to this song, it's so so beautiful and honest. I've thought about this concept before though: the "Sunday afternoon effect", when all the excitement of the weekend wears off and you're just hanging out with your friends, laughing about silly stuff, or cleaning up the house after the party. The thing is, the friends that stay till then are the ones you wanna hold on to, and the same goes for lovers. I feel kind of bad... well not BAD but you know, must be hard... when you're famous and rich, to recognize the good ones from the beginning before you give yourself too much away and it's too late.
To be honest with you guys, I think Daniel must feel a bit lonely sometimes. We all do, but to think that people are only interested in you for your fame and money must be tough... something you worked so hard, that you keep dedicating your life to, to think that that thing is the reason for your heartbreak, to your loneliness... It's a two-edged sword, isn't it? Anyway, I wrote this little something with Daniel in mind, hope you guys like it. Hope he finds someone to be like this someday. Hell, hope I find someone to be like this someday. I think everyone deserves that.
Daniel woke up in his bed, no shoes, but jeans and party shirt still on. The light coming through the windows, shining directly on his face, threatening to make his headache even worse. He let out a groan and turned to the side. There's someone on his bed with him. Shit. He just remembered. Last night was the first time he was introducing (y/n) to his friends. His birthday "small get together" (or at least that's what it was supposed to be) was the perfect opportunity for testing the waters and giving the "next step" without making too much fuss about it, after all, they've only been going out for a couple months and with his tight schedule it meant a lot of facetime calls and weekends, but almost no weekdays and routine stuff.
Yet, he was absolutely smitten with her, she was fun and easygoing, passionate about her own work and friends, but still caring and interested in him. They had amazing chemistry, mind-blowing even. But Daniel had lived enough to know that hanging out with someone on the weekends and knowing their best side was one thing, living through daily and mundane stuff was a completely different thing. Where this could go was still a mystery to him and he didn't want to raise too many expectations before he was sure. Still, she looked so beautiful sleeping, a true vision. He tried to remember if something had happened last night, but judging by his clothes still on, and hers as well, he guessed not. As if on cue, she smiled, with her eyes still closed.
"Stop being creepy" she said smiling. "I can feel you watching me sleep"
"You're not even asleep anymore" he smiled and she opened her eyes. He was taken back by her eyes staring directly into his.
"Still creepy though" she laughed, getting closer to him. He held her and they stayed like that for a while.
"Are you ok?" he asked her.
"What do you mean?
"Aren't you hungover, or sick?" he asked again and she laughed.
"Not at all. I have this really weird superpower, you know, I don't get hungover. Ever, actually" she laughed.
"I don't believe you. I have the headache"
"No, it's true. We did drink a lot yesterday, though" she commented.
"Yeah, well, welcome to having Australian friends. No such thing as light drinking with those guys" he laughed but grimaced at the pain in his brain.
"I'll get you something"
"Huh?"
"For the pain" she explained getting up from the bed.
After a while she returned with a pill and a glass of water, passing them to him.
"Thank you, baby" he took the glass, finishing it. "Come back to bed now"
"Your house... like, I'm not even sure if I should tell you to take a look or just pack your essentials and abandon it" she smiled.
"Uhh" he groaned. "I'll call someone later"
"Like a constructor with a wrecking ball?" she laughed.
"It can't be that bad"
"It's bad" she started. "But we can manage it" He looked at her intrigued. "After a shower" she pulled his hand. "Join me?"
"If I ever say no to that question, just put me in an asylum" he said. "I need a kiss though, as motivation" he smirked.
"Noo... I have morning breath"
"What? Me too" he said pulling her down and kissing her anyway. "Uh, no. You're right. Yours is worst" he said laughing while getting up and walking into the bathroom.
"Asshole!" she laughed following him.
They stripped and got into the shower, taking turns in letting the water run through their bodies.
"Come here" Daniel said, putting some body wash in his hands and spreading them over (y/n) body.
"Hum... this feels nice" she said.
"You're so beautiful" he said kissing her shoulder.
"You're so wasted" she laughed lightly.
"Hey! I'm sober. I'm just too tired. Give me a couple hours to recover, and I'll claim my birthday privileges"
"Birthday privileges? It's not even your birthday anymore" she laughed.
"Okay, but first, it's the weekend of, and second, I didn't get any time alone with you yesterday"
"Fair. And what will be your requests, may I ask?" she asked teasingly.
"Humm... you're so creative" he said kissing her. "I'm sure we'll think of something"
They finished the shower after a while, enjoying each other's company and the comfortable silence.
"Did anyone crashed here?" (y/n) asked when they were stepping out of the shower.
"I have no idea" Daniel answered. "I just remembered going to take a nap and waking up this morning. Shit, we didn't... did we?" (y/n) laughed out loud at that.
"Wow! Really, Dan?"
"We did not. I would've remembered"
"Good save. Such a gentleman" she laughed.
"I drank way too much. Sorry. Don't be mad"
"It's fine. I'm messing with you, I don't remember anything either. To be honest, I don't even remember joining you on your 'nap'" she said making air quotes.
"We're the worst hosts" he said getting out of the bathroom and going into the closet to get some clothes.
(y/n)'s heart swelled at the thought of hosting a party with Daniel. There was something so intimate about that statement, so homey.
"You want a shirt?" Daniel asked from the other room, waking her up from her daydream.
"Yeah, sure" she took the shirt, some underwear, and some sweats. Then brushed her wet hair and looked in the mirror. Not a trace of makeup left. She sighed thinking about how falling into a routine with Daniel meant letting the barriers down.
"Alright, snap out of it" she said to herself, getting out of the bathroom and walking outside, to the living room where Daniel was standing rubbing his neck and looking around.
"This is bad" he said when he saw her joining him. There were empty beer bottles and cups all around the living room and balcony, pizza boxes (with half-eaten slices left behind) in the coffee table, party decorations hanging from the ceiling, and the kitchen was even worse, with liquid spilled on the ground and bottles everywhere. There was glitter all over the floor and the couch - someone had brought some of those party poppers, which looked so much fun yesterday, but no so much now. But the best part was the polaroids, left all over the house with the craziest poses.
"Pack your stuff, we're deserting this goddam hellhole" he said and she knew he was joking, he said that about everywhere, but she still shook her head and rolled her eyes, picking a polaroid photo from the ground.
"Everyone had so much fun" she showed it to him. "I loved meeting your friends"
He took the photo from her hand, it was one where (y/n) was sitting on the couch with two of his buddies from Australia, making funny faces while holding cups. He remembered the moment because he was the one who took the photo.
"How's the headache?" she asked him.
"Almost gone"
"Good. So you don't have an excuse. Move your ass, where are the trash bags?" she laughed going into the kitchen.
"Hey! That was very sneak of you" he laughed but followed her anyway.
They spent the next hour collecting bottles, vacuuming glitter, and just cleaning the whole house. Daniel complained the whole time, but in truth, he was very glad to have her there. Sure, he could just ignore the whole mess and hire someone on Monday to clean everything (he probably would still do that anyway, for the heavy cleaning like bathrooms), but it was really nice of her to just stick around, seeming unbothered by the housework. When she finished tying the last trash bag and putting it on the entry hallway she flopped on the couch besides Daniel, who had called it a day some good 10 minutes ago.
"Done?" he asked her.
"I feel like punching you for asking me that" she answered playing annoyed. He lifted his hand in defense.
"What? I did my part!"
"Men" she shook her head. "I'm surprised you haven't complained about being hungry yet"
"Well, I'm starving! Was just waiting to suggest going out, or ordering in"
"Ordering in, please. I don't want to get off this couch any time soon"
Daniel got his phone out to order some food. It was almost noon, so he thought about something like pasta, some carbs would be nice right now. Then he felt (y/n)'s head drop on his shoulder, her hand caressing his arm. It was such a sweet gesture, so understated, he just stopped what he was doing and looked at her.
"What?" she looked at him.
"I'm really glad you're here. Thank you"
"It's nothing" she smiled.
"I don't mean the cleaning. Well, that too. But just, thank you for being you and wanting to hang out with me, you know, after the party"
"I'll always wanna hang out with you, partying or cleaning bottles" she said and leaned in to kiss him. "Happy birthday old man" this made him smile through the kiss.
"Thank you, young lady" he said still smiling. "Let's feed you now, yeah?"
"Please! Let's get some carbs on this house!" she smile.
"Hey, guys!" (y/n) and Daniel looked up to see Luke, one of Daniel's buddies walking out of the guest bedroom.
"Dude! I didn't know you were here" Daniel laughed.
"Yeah, just woke up. Definitely wasn't hiding in the bedroom waiting for the cleaning end to get out" he grinned making (y/n) and Daniel laugh.
"You know what? Just for that, you're going downstairs to pick up the food when it gets here, and taking out the trash!" (y/n) teased him, tossing a pillow from the couch at him.
Daniel just observed while his friend and his girlfriend joked and laughed. He thought about how right now he was enjoying a feeling of contempt that wasn't really natural or much appreciated by professional athletes, but this time felt right to indulge in it. He felt safe like someone's got him, finally. He took (y/n) hand on his and squeezed it three times, he knew this was already a good thing, something to last. She looked at him, she knew exactly what he meant.

Veritaserum Prompt Fic (Part 9)
(It has been a minute since I've posted anything on this fic. Sorry friends-thanks for your patience! If you'd like you can start at the beginning, Part 1 on Tumblr and click through or head over to AO3 to read the whole thing.) ============
One week.
It took one week for Draco to make all of the arrangements; to brew the potion and to get in touch with Granger to make a plan without Harry knowing.
None of it was easy, of course. Harry spent so much time with him that it was hard to have secrets, but Draco couldn't ever find it in himself to complain. If he was a better man maybe it would have gone faster but in the grand scheme of things what was one week against the balance of the rest of his life?
But, as he stirred the potion seven times counter-clockwise and it changed to a dark purple, he knew that his time was up. This was the last piece. He already had the portkey from Granger that would deliver him to her house, she'd drawn up the contract that he would sign when he got there granting Harry immunity, and now the sleeping draught was complete. A few drops in the tea that he was going to make for Harry right before bed and he'd be able to leave.
His heart clenched traitorously and his brain continuously searched for ways to weasel its way out of spending his life in prison. But this was the only way. The only that Harry would have a chance at the life that he deserved after all he'd been through. It wasn't fair for him not to get to enjoy the world he'd saved.
It was time for Draco to do the right thing. For once. He had to, Harry was his now and he had to protect him, he had to do what was best for him. The only way to give Harry his freedom was to give up his own.
"Hey," Harry said, voice warmer than the sunshine on the beach as he wrapped his arms around Draco's waist and buried his face in the side of Draco's neck, interrupting Draco from his thoughts. And Draco's entire soul ached.
(Read more below the cut)
"Hi yourself," he managed, keeping his voice light and cheerful.
He felt Harry grin against his neck, "How are you?" he asked as through they hadn't seen each other a mere hour ago.
"Good," he whispered, pressing back into Harry's arms, because how could he be anything else when Harry was holding him. "Did you finish that table you were building?"
"Mmhmm," he hummed, kissing the spot just behind Draco's ear that made him feel a bit weak in the knees. "I thought maybe we could eat dinner outside."
He nodded, "Let me just tidy up out here first."
"Kay," Harry replied, pressing one more smacking kiss to his neck and making Draco laugh. "I'm going to start grilling the salmon we picked up yesterday, okay?"
He nodded. "I'll be out in a minute."
Harry gave him a wave and then disappeared out of the work room, traipsing through the green house.
Draco took a steadying breath and pulled out a small phial that he filled with the sleeping draught.
Only a few more hours.
---------------
And the hours passed far too quickly, eating dinner, then sitting close to the ocean where the waves could wash over their feet as they drank beer and laughed up at the stars.
"Harry?" he said.
"Mmh?" the other man asked, pressing his shoulder against Draco's.
He gave him a little smile, "This is the happiest I've ever been."
Harry turned his head to look at him and smiled back, "Yeah?"
Draco nodded.
"Me too," he replied, leaning in to kiss him softly.
His heart twisted uncomfortably in his chest, squeezing and wrenching like a wet towel being wrung out. "Love you," he whispered.
He felt Harry's smile as he kissed him, mouth stretched too wide, "I love you, too," he replied.
They sat staring out over the ocean for long moments and Draco knew he had to do it now. If he let the other man take him to bed, if he let Harry tell him how happy he was and how much he loved him, he wouldn't be able to do it.
"Do you want another?" he asked, pointing to Harry's beer. "I'm going to use the loo, I can grab you one while I'm up," he offered.
Harry tilted his head back to look up at him, curls spilling across his face and catching in the breeze. "Maybe a glass of water?"
"Alright," he replied, trying to figure out what he was going to hide the sleeping potion in as he brushed a few curly strands of hair out of Harry's eyes. "Be right back, then."
Harry caught his hand and tipped his head up so he could press a kiss to the inside of Draco's wrist and he felt his eyes well up. It shouldn't be possible to feel this much, shouldn't be possible for a heart to soar and clench at the same time.
He gave Harry's hand a squeeze before releasing him and heading toward the house, taking gasping breaths as he tried to calm down, tried to force the tears and the panic away. Once inside he looked around in the kitchen, water wouldn't mask the taste of the sleeping draught, he needed to find something else.
After a moment, he pulled down the biscuits that they'd baked together the day before, setting a few out on a plate, then pouring a glass of milk that he slipped several drops of the sleeping draught into.
It took him several minutes to work up the nerve, Merlin knew that he'd never been good at being brave; it's what had landed him in the situation in the first place. Squaring his shoulders, he levitated the plate and the glasses of milk, being sure to keep track of which one he'd put the potion into, outside to the beach.
Harry laughed when he saw him, reaching out to pluck the glass of milk closest to him from the air, "You're going to make me fat," Harry said. "And then you won't love me anymore."
Draco shook his head as he sat down next to Harry, leaning over to him to kiss him, "Impossible," he murmured. He cupped Harry's cheek, brushing his thumb over his cheekbone, "There is no possible version of us where I do not fall in love with you."
A pleased grin stretched Harry's mouth wide, "I wouldn't have pegged you as a romantic," he said.
"No?" Draco asked as he picked up one of the cookies.
Harry shook his head, "I would have imagined you having sharp edges still, with practical ways to show your love, not all-" he broke off and gestured to Draco, "soft."
He shrugged one shoulder, "We've had enough sharp, haven't we?" he asked.
"Definitely," Harry agreed, taking a cookie off the plate and dunking it into the milk.
Draco swallowed against the guilt and the desire to just make it all stop.
"These turned out really well," Harry said through a mouthful of cookie. "I can't believe you'd never baked cookies before yesterday."
He smiled, "Lots of firsts here."
The corner of Harry's mouth tipped up and he leaned over to kiss Draco again, soft and sweet. "What should our next first be?" he asked when he pulled back.
"I don't know," Draco replied, watching him dunk his cookie again, the milk soaking it and making a chunk break off and sink to the bottom.
"Drat," Harry said before taking a bite out of the remainder of it. "I've always wanted to take a trip to the states," he said. "And we all know that the Ministry doesn't work well with the one in the states. We probably wouldn't even have to hide."
He hummed, watching as Harry stifled a yawn.
"I want to go to that muggle amusement park," he added.
"Alright," Draco agreed. "We'll go, then."
Harry gave him one of those guileless grins of his before starting to lift the glass of milk to his lips.
"Kiss me," Draco blurted, needing just one more kiss before the end.
The other man obliged him, "Twist my arm," he said with a wink, leaning over and drawing Draco closer, so he could kiss him.
"Sorry," Draco said when they broke apart, "Finish your milk and biscuit."
"Don't be sorry," Harry said, "I will kiss you any time, love. Literally anytime." He drained his glass of milk, making a pleased little hum when he caught the piece of the biscuit he'd lost earlier.
The effects of the potion were immediate, as they always were, Draco watched as Harry's eyes started to droop.
"Merlin," he said through a yawn, "Draco I'm exhausted all of the sudden."
He nodded, "Let's go to bed," he offered, standing up and reaching for Harry's hands.
Harry allowed himself to be tugged to his feet and he stumbled into Draco, his body sinking into him like they'd been made to fit together.
"I've got you," Draco whispered, wrapping his arm around him and holding him for a minute, memorizing the curves of his body and the way they felt pressed together. "Come on," he said after a minute.
"Don't wanna," Harry mumbled against his collarbone. "M'comfortable."
"Bed will be more comfortable," Draco assured him, nudging him toward the house.
"You'll be there, too?"
"Yeah," he whispered, knowing that his heart would live here with the other man, tucked between his ribs next to his own for safe keeping.
He managed to navigate Harry inside and they crawled into bed, Harry curled around him, drawing Harry's back against his chest and holding him.
"Love you," Harry mumbled sleepily.
"I love you too," he managed, throat tight and raw as he clutched Harry tighter and held him impossibly closer. He stayed there for longer than was strictly necessary, Harry's body was lax in his arms, he let out a soft huff snore ever few exhalations, and there wasn't a doubt in Draco's mind that the other man was in a deep sleep.
"Okay," he whispered to himself. "Okay, you've got to get up." He pressed a kiss to the soft skin on the back of Harry's neck and slid out from under him, drawing away. "Don't think about it," he muttered as he made his way out of his room, quietly closing the door.
He went to the island in the kitchen and left a note, the closest thing to a love letter he'd ever written, and laid his wand on top of it.
"Don't think about it," he repeated, opening the cupboard under the sink and digging out the old scrub brush that Granger had sent him. He took a breath and closed his eyes, not giving himself even one more moment to think and talk himself out of it, and activated the portkey.
He was sucked through time and space, and the next thing he knew his feet hit the floor in an unfamiliar living room. The door opened and Granger and Weasley came in a moment later.
"Sorry," Granger said, "We weren't sure when you were coming."
"It's fine," he said, breathing through his nose and trying to fight the tears prickling the back of his eyes.
Granger held out a parchment, "You're sure you know what you're doing?"
He nodded and reached out for the quill set out on the desk.
"Malfoy," she said, pulling the contract back, "Draco," she added, voice soft in a way that made Draco want to cry and scream. "If you sign this you can never appeal the decision the court reached. You will be in prison for the rest of your life."
"I know."
Weasley cleared his throat, "Does Harry know you're here?"
"No," he said, looking up at them. "No, I gave him a sleeping draught. He can't know until it's finalized," he added. "You saw what happened at the trial. He's so-" he shook his head, he couldn't say it, couldn't make himself voice the words. Not to them, not to anyone; they were his, all he had left, and he buried them in his chest where his heart used to be. "He can't know."
"Are you certain?" Granger asked again.
"Give it to me," he snapped. "Just give me the damn contract. I can only be tested so many fucking times and if you think leaving Harry wasn't hard enough, if you think-" He broke off, realizing that he was gasping in ragged breaths and that tears had spilled down his face. He wiped his eyes furiously. "We all know that I am not the pinnacle of valor. Doing what is right when it is difficult has never been my strong suit. So please," he said, "please stop asking me."
"You love him, too," Weasley breathed as though it was some sort of revelation.
He snatched the contract from Granger's hand and signed it before either of them could say anything else. "You said you'd have someone from the ministry ready to take me?" he said, thrusting his chin up in the air and refusing to give in to the urge to break down.
"I'm taking you," she said softly.
He nodded, "let's go, then."
"Is there anything-" Weasley started.
He shook his head and ignored the way a tear slipped down his cheek, "There is only one thing I want and we all know I can't have him."
"Come on, then," Granger said, holding out her elbow.
Just as they apparated Weasley called out, "You're a good person, Draco Malfoy."
"He's right, you know," she said when their feet hit the ground.
Draco shook his head, "I'm not, obviously," he said gesturing to the prison doors they were about to walk through. "Will you do something for me?" he asked.
She nodded, "What do you need?"
"Don't let him do anything stupid," he said.
She laughed, "I've spent my whole life failing at that."
"Tell him it's okay," he pleaded, "It's fine to move on, to live a happy life. Tell him I want that for him." He swallowed around the tears. "Tell him he deserves to be happy more than anyone, that he deserves the best life," he said, an ugly sob escaping.
Before he knew what was happening, Granger wrapped him in her arms and pulled him into an uncomfortably tight hug. "We'll figure this out," she said fiercely.
He pulled back, shaking his head and wiping his face. "Don't. And please don't say that to him."
She searched his face for a long moment and Draco tried to pull himself together. "Right," she said, nodding once and squaring her shoulders, "This way."
He closed his eyes and let the memory of the sound of the waves crashing to shore, of Harry's hand in his, and the warm sun on his face, fill him up one more time before the darkness ahead.

Summary: After a wild night spent with your best friend's flatmate without your bestie knowing, you are coming back to their apartment. It is your birthday and they are waiting for you with a proper gift, making this night definitely one that you and your body will never forget.
-------------------------------------
You woke up to the morning sunlight shining from Juyeon's window to your face. Juyeon had his arm wrapped around you caressing your naked body under his blanket. You could still smell his parfume mixed with many other scents from the night before. His muscles around you made you feel so safe and sound. You needed a few minutes to realize that the past night was not a dream and you were thinking about if you could even walk from so much pleasure the man next to you gave you. You turned around to look at him. Juyeon was dead gorgeous. He was still sleeping yet his messy hair made him look so cute and innocent - completely opposite to what happened last night.
You looked at the clock and it was already 10:27am. Oh my goodness, you needed to go home! You didn't plan to have sex with your best friend's flatmate but even more you didn't plan to stay overnight. There were so many thoughts in your head - how should you behave after this? how will Eric react - does he already know? and what was the comment Juyeon said about Eric, was it true?
You needed to put away these thoughts for awhile and just get your ass out of the room before Juyeon wakes up. You put on your clothes, packed your things and quietly exited the room. You peeked in the room next door which was Eric's trying to see if he is sleeping but no one was there. After turning around and letting a sigh of relief, you went to put on your shoes. After tieing up your shoelaces where you needed to squat, you raised up again seeing 2 legs in front of you.
"Eric Sohn! What are you doing here?"
"Um it's my apartment I guess. You look messy, what happened to you? Here - your charger."
You completely forgot that you were supposed to meet because of the charger. Gosh, you've had luck since if didn't hear anything thinking you came for the charger.
"Thanks!" you said trying to look as less obvious as possible. "By the way, why do you have a cake in your hand?", you ask noticing him holding a cake as well.
"Hm, I wouldn't think you'd forgot your own birthday tomorrow but yeah I bought it for you"
Oh shit, that's true. Your birthday was tomorrow and you didn't think of it at all.
"Wow Eric, thank you! But it's too early to eat it now..."
"True, but you can come by in the evening and we can wait for midnight together just like we do every year."
"Sounds like a plan" you said.
"Yeah the cake was meant to be a surprise, y/n" - Eric said while accompanying you to the door, you already going outside. He gazed at you and made a dramatic pause.
"But I guess we need to think of another surprise for the night" he said slowly, while the door closing in front of your eyes watching Eric's mischievous smile get out of your sight.
---------
8:00pm. Juyeon and Eric's apartment.
You waited in front of the doorstep checking yourself out in the reflection of the door.
Every time you've entered this apartment you were in some sort of hoodies, sweaters, clothes for chilling out and relaxing.
But today, that was not the case.
You rang the bell and the door opened.
"Hey y/n what's up.. Ohhhhh myyy" - you heard Eric say in awe.
You took your birthday as a reason good enough to look smoking hot. Sexy. Seductive.
You wore a tight red see-through dress and black lacy bra and fishnet tights underneath.
You had a choker around your neck and you were smelling like roses. And yes, you were standing like this in front of your best friend. He doesn't need to know that you drank 3 glasses of soju before you came here. You just enjoyed this confidence and thought it's completely appropriate for your birthday. He also looked very handsome with a black unbottoned shirt.
You entered the apartment . "I'll go to the basement and get the beer", said Eric leaving your sight. You bent down to take your heels off and while squating you felt a big hand grabbing your butt.
"Hello princess."
You threw your heels on the side and stood up while the hand still grabbing your booty.
*Shit* you said in your head. This was unfair.
In front of you was Juyeon, looking like the most fuckable creature in the world. He had a black t-shirt and extremely tight leather pants on. His forehead was showing and he was looking at you like you're a treat he is just about to taste.
"Miss me?" he asked.
"Oh what do you think?" you replied moving his hand from your butt under your dress to your core. His hands were going over your cold skin and fishnet tights and when they reached the end point, you saw his expression change.
Maybe you decided to leave your panties home making his cold fingers directly over your core. This small thing made you notice his bulge becoming more evident making him go crazy even if he didn't want to show it much, his body revealed all signs. He leaned in for a kiss, but the moment got interrupted by the sound of Eric's steps approaching the living room from the basement.
"I brought the beer!" Eric shouted while you two got your hands off of each other. In the end, Eric doesn't know anything. You tried to act normal, although the chemistry and sparks between Juyeon and you were on fire.
An hour and 10 beers later, the three of you were all on the couch comfortably next to each other. In the beginning you were all just regularly sitting, but many laughs and celebratory cheers afterwards you were all laying down. You were in the middle and as the night approached, you comfortably turned around to your bestie Eric him hugging you from the back. You used to hug a lot, this was nothing new. He was also the one who liked skinship and sometimes you also played video games in this position. But as he was holding you in your arms and hugging you, he started doing something so far unknown. He took your palms and started slowly massaging them. This felt so good. You felt your body relaxing and at one point you even closed your eyes diving into this unfamiliar yet erotic sensation. You opened your eyes and saw Eric's head move much closer to yours, his soft lips being an inch away. But then you turned your hand around looking at Juyeon on the other side of the couch extremely furious. You were not touching him, but the way of how you were laying down with your legs very open made him looked at your bare pussy under your short dress.
You spread out your hand and took another beer, not breaking the eye contact with Juyeon. He looked jealous, irritated and needy.
He wanted to grab you from Eric's arms and use you to his own pleasure. You opened the bottle, yet the weird position made you... spill half of the bottle over you.
You and Eric immediately wanted to stand up looking at the mess. The beer spilled over you and your floor. Your top was so wet that the thin material completely revealed your stripped bralette as well as your hardened nipples after the reaction with the cold liquid. And while you were standing up Juyeon took a close look at your soaked body.
"Eric, where is the mop?"
"In the first drawer in my room."
"Cool, let me get it quickly"
You entered Eric's room and approached his shelf, opening the first drawer. You froze.
"Holy shit" you said being flabbergasted. You were looking at were definitely... not mops.
It was a drawer full of sex toys. Your eyes opened wide. Dildos, vibrators, chains, nipple clamps, rings and so many items you were not sure what they are. You had a few moments of blackout your brain not believing that your so far innocent best friend had a collection like this. You were staring at the items when you suddenly heard noise behind you.
"Oh well, well, what do have in here" you heard while turning around and seeing Eric at the front door.
"I told you the first drawer from above baby, not from below"
"I didn't know you're into these things, Eric", you replied.
"Oh look who's the one saying that. I also didn't know you were into being fucked raw the whole night. I couldn't sleep yesterday from your moans coming out from Juyeon's room"
"You... you heard it? I... I can explain"
"There is only one thing I want you to explain."
said Eric stepping closer and closer to you.
You heard a door slam in the back.
"Eric, Eric, Eric. We didn't agree to play like this. I still didn't give you permission to touch... what was mine." said Juyeon approaching you too and holding your chin up.
"Don't start whining once you receive your punishment pup. You'd be so powerless against me, begging and begging to cum for me but only I can decide when and how you will. You're mine and your body knows it, responding only to my touch I'll make sure you feel things beyond your wildest dreams." - said Juyeon... to Eric.
You witnessed Eric turning from a confident flirt to an ultimate sub carefully listening and obeying to every word Juyeon spoke out of his mouth. Damn, you knew Juyeon can make so many people wrapped around his finger but you never thought your best friend is one of them. Juyeon took Eric's chin and stared at the younger one, pulling him in for a wild kiss.
"But not today, pup. Today we are taking care of this birthday princess over here. She deserved to be handled well. Do you have a wish, baby?" Juyeon asked switching the attention to you.
"I only have one wish" you said, hearing the clock marking that the midnight has arrived.
"Fuck the hell out of me", you replied.
A second later Juyeon took your waist and pushed you relentlessly on the bed. He pulled your dress up and didn't even bother to take off your tights but just ripped a part of them making a hole exactly at your already dripping core.
"Happy birthday, beautiful" said Juyeon at the second where he slammed 3 of his fingers in you while his thumb hitting a sensitive spot on your clit.
"Ahhhhh fuck Juyeon" you moaned loudly, but soon you were shut up by Eric who started making out with you.
Eric's lips felt like cotton candy. They were so soft and plump but the tenderness didn't last long since all of a sudden the mood completely changed and the kisses started being faster, deeper and rougher, matching the pace of Juyeon's fingers. Eric's kisses felt forbidden, you never expected for you two to get closer to this level of intimacy. But damn, you couldn't complain since it felt so damn good. You felt your high was coming closer so you couldn't control yourself but whine and moan. Eric moved his lips to your neck, leaving juicy kisses, marking it as his territory. A few moments later, you felt your high coming up, your orgasm filling your entire body and your cum going all around Juyeon's fingers.
After you calmed a bit down, you realized your two men still have their clothes on. Now it's time to change it. You crawled up to Juyeon and soon later all his clothes were on the floor. His toned muscles and doll-like body turned you on even more, so you couldn't help yourself but start worshiping his cock, taking it all inside your mouth and deep throating it while swirling your tongue around it, making you hear his needy moans again. He was standing next to the bed, and you were on your fours when unexpectedly Eric came from the back and slammed his cock inside you without any prior notice. Juyeon's hands already stretched you well, but Eric's size made you see all the stars. Being in the doggy position made you feel different spots. Your mascara got completely smudged up from tears which started going while your body tried to get used to the sizes inside your mouth and your core. A few minutes and many thrusts later, you started clenching and you felt both Juyeon and Eric cum inside you, you simultaneously reaching your second orgasm and your body becoming weak to their core and collapsing on the bed.
"Look at our goddess taking us both so well." said Juyeon. He went out for a second and came back with a something in his hand. "Close your eyes kitten, I have a small surprise for you". All of a sudden your eyes went black and a second later, your body froze. And then at once you had both Eric and Juyeon on you, each of the guys giving attention your nipples. But this was a different kind of feeling - they took an ice cube in their mouth and while the cube being in the mouth they both mercilessly sucked and licked your nipples - the left one was Juyeon's and right one Eric's. It was their warm, tender lips stroking one of the most sensitive part of your body mixed with the freezing feeling of the cube giving you shivers all over your body.
After the ice cubes melted, Eric slowly stood up and came to his drawer. "Since you were so curious about it, shall we use some pretty toys on you, y/n?" pointing at his sex toy collection.
He took a big clit vibrator in his hand, handed it to Juyeon, which put it to the highest speed and placed it on the perfect spot. You've never used toys before and someone else using them on you turned you even more on. The vibrator did wonders, but just before you wanted to orgasm, Juyeon turned it off.
"What the fuck Juyeon, why did you stop?"
"You aren't allowed to cum until I allow you to."
You got angry. You knew he was jealous so you wanted to make him even more furious.
"And what if I want someone else to make me cum?" you said with a tricky voice, turning up to Eric and starting to ride him.
"Show me what you got, Eric" you said to your best friend, him controlling the pace and placing his hand around your neck pulling just as much as pressure for the choking to spice you up. You couldn't see Juyeon anymore.
All you could hear is noise from the drawer.
Probably he was putting the vibrator back, you thought. But instead he pulled lube out of Eric's drawer. He approached you and you knew it because you felt his warmth on your back. But you didn't want to say anything.
Maybe you should have, because Juyeon took the lube and prepared your second hole for his entrance. And at that moment, you had your best friend and your lover double penetrating you. You loved the attention, especially from someone like them which exactly knew how to pleasure a woman.
"Fuck, don't stop! Don't you dare to stop!" you screamed from the bottom of your lungs, sweat on your forehead, with your makeup completely ruined, watery eyes, looking like a slut that you are. They haven't stopped but continued ruining you up to the point where the biggest, most powerful orgasm in your fucking life hit you. You started squirting, messing up the whole bed and your men pulling their cocks and spitting their cum all over your chest.
All three of you were laying on Erics bed, trying to catch your breaths. Soon after, you fell asleep, cuddled in between Juyeon and Eric.
"Do you do this often?" you asked Eric
"Do you expect less from two porn stars?" he answered, leaving you without words.

call it even
Chapter 1: you’ll always know me
A/N: This is the first chapter of a 2 (or possibly 3? who knows) chapter Muggle AU fanfic inspired by tis the damn season and dorothea by taylor swift hehe hope you like it :) You can also read it on AO3 here.
She felt a tap on her shoulder and took a deep breath. It was way too early in the morning, she had just gotten off a long flight where she barely slept a wink, and she just didn’t have it in her to talk to any fans without the coffee she was impatiently waiting for at the LAX Starbucks.
But she turned around anyway, bracing herself, and then saw a face that jolted her so much she supposed she wouldn’t need the coffee anymore. “Harry?”
“Hey, Ginny,” he smiled. Harry Potter was standing in front of her for the first time in almost a year, looking as handsome as ever. He was tired, his green eyes looking glazed behind his glasses, his hair pointing in all directions- though she could tell he didn’t try to comb it- wearing the grey-blue sweater she knew her Mum bought him years ago.
Without really thinking about it, she moved forward and hugged him, throwing her arms around his neck, and he put his around her waist and hugged her back, but he also let go first.
“What are you doing here?” she asked incredulously, trying not to think too hard about him breaking the embrace before she could.
“My students had a tournament against a school out here,” he explained. “We lost though.”
“I’m sorry,” she offered.
“Oh, don’t be, I don’t mind. But the kids all seem like they’re going to jump out of the plane before we can make it home. I was up until 2am consoling the quarterback. My assistant coach is talking them all down now out there while I grab us coffee.”
She nodded, biting her lip. And then blurted out, “Why didn’t you call?” At Harry’s confused look, she added, “to tell me you were in L.A.?”
He cleared his throat, and Ginny saw a light blush creep up his neck. “Well, I knew you were away for your match. I caught some of it, you played great, as always.”
“Oh,” she responded, feeling stupid. She sometimes forgot that as a member of the U.S. Women’s Soccer team her schedule was often public knowledge. She felt a tug at her heart thinking about Harry still supporting her after all this time. “Right, thanks. I wish I could’ve shown you around the city. Did you like it here?”
He shrugged. “Not bad, but big cities aren’t really my style. You know that,” he ended, a solemn note in his voice. “Have you been enjoying it out here?”
She mirrored his shrug. “It’s fine, I suppose. I like the weather, if that counts.”
“Nothing else?”
With most people she’d probably just lie and say she loved it, but with Harry she had a bad habit of always being blunt. “The traffic here is worse than what they warn you about, and honestly, it’s hard to make friends when it seems like everyone just wants to use you for your fame- or for the more famous people that you know.”
“Well, if you’re ever tired of being known for who you know, you know you'll always know me.” Harry offered her a sad smile. “I’m always a call- or a FaceTime- away. Not that a tiny screen is my ideal way of seeing you, but better than nothing.”
She wasn’t sure how to respond right away, as she could feel her whole body burning up and her throat closing. There was so much in the air between them. But the barista called out a cold brew, and at the same time they both said, “oh, that’s me,” then looked at each other and laughed. The first one had Ginny’s name on it, the one that followed five seconds later had Harry’s.
They walked away from the coffee pick-up area together, and Harry checked his watch. “Well, we have to board soon. I’m sorry this is the only way we got to see each other.”
“I’ll be home for Christmas,” Ginny told him in response. She originally didn’t plan on reaching out to him when she got back home, because she knew her brother and Harry’s best friend Ron would just tell him, and if he wanted to see her he could make that decision for himself. But suddenly this became information that she couldn’t hold in.
“Oh,” responded Harry, running his free hand through his hair. Her heart fluttered at that motion, as she knew what it meant- that he was nervous in a good way. “Well, that’s great! Let me know when you plan on getting in, I’d love to catch up, properly.”
“Yeah, me too,” she said, the sincerity spilling out against her will. She never could truly play it cool with him, not even when they were kids. She hugged him again, smelling home lingering on his sweater. “I will. Have a safe flight, Harry.”
His grip on her was tighter this time, even with coffee in hand, than the last. “You too,” he replied. And then stiffened and let go. “I mean, you already had your flight, so that made no sense. Have a safe...cab ride home, I suppose?”
Ginny laughed at his stumbling. “I’ll do my best.”
He smiled, raising a hand in a small wave as he walked back towards his students. “See you later, Gin.”
She returned the smile and watched him reach his students. She noticed one of them looking at her as if they recognized her. She saw him nudge Harry with his elbow before she turned around and began walking to find her cab driver. As she continued to stride forward she faintly heard him ask, “Mr. Potter, was that just… Ginny Weasley? Do you know her?”
***
It was her fault for thinking her brothers would give her some indication that Harry would be there. They knew she still had feelings for him, no matter how much she denied it and how many times she tried to move on, and yet they couldn’t even give her a heads up.
When Fred and George saw her exasperated expression, they rolled their eyes in unison as Fred put his arm around her. “Are you reverting back to your 11-year-old self, little sis?”
“Fuck off,” she said, shrugging out of her brother’s embrace. “You could have at least warned me.”
“I thought you were bold, or whatever,” said George. “Wasn’t that one of the three qualities you used to describe yourself in People Magazine?”
Harry began walking over to them. She mentally prepared herself as he hugged Fred and George and congratulated them on the joke shop’s expansion. As he turned his attention to Ginny, the twins quickly left to talk to other guests. He didn’t smile.
“Hi,” she said nervously. “I didn’t know you’d be here.”
“Hi,” he replied, one hand in his pocket, the other holding his drink. “Ron told me you landed three days ago.”
She gulped, feeling his hurt absorb her. “Well, I just got settled in and recharged, you know. I- I was going to text you.” Which was true; she did intend on keeping her promise to Harry at the airport, but didn’t know when the appropriate time would be- how do you know the right time to text your ex and first love to casually catch up?
He hummed, taking a sip of his beer. She absolutely despised cold Harry, she could feel it emanating off of him. “It’s fine,” he said, ostensibly lying. “I was catching up with some other people from school anyway. Remember Cho?”
Oh, he was cruel, bringing up his ex like that. “Obviously,” she almost spat. As if she could forget.
“Saw her and Neville, Hannah and Luna the other day.”
She had half a mind to mention Dean Thomas, her boyfriend right before Harry in her sophomore year, reaching out to her asking to go for a drink, but couldn’t find it in her to do it, so instead she just mirrored his cool and pretend unbothered tone. “I don’t remember asking, but thanks for the information.”
Harry’s frown became more clearly defined. “Fine, sorry to bother you.”
She felt a chill as he walked away from her, a familiar ache pooling in her abdomen. They were fighting like they were teenagers rather than grown adults. It was unlike him to start it- it was usually her- but she couldn’t really blame him, though. She knew at the end of the day that she was the main culprit, that she made him ache the way she did because she didn’t know how else to hold it on her own.
She watched him return to her brother Ron’s side and take another large sip of his beer. Ron’s wife and one of both Ginny’s and Harry’s closest friends, Hermione Granger, gave Harry an appraising look and then walked over to Ginny. Hermione gave her a short hug and then said, “Alright, which one of you said something stupid this time?”
Ginny scoffed, pulling away from her friend. “Oh, it’s nice to see you too, Hermione.”
“I saw you yesterday. So which one of you started it?”
“Obviously he did! He had the audacity to mention hanging out with Cho Chang to me.”
Hermione gave a look of utter exasperation. “That’s a new low for him.”
“I know!”
“But I’m assuming you replied with equal spite?”
She sputtered, crossing her arms. “Maybe so.”
“Well, you should have texted him, Ginny.”
“He should’ve texted me! ” she whispered sharply.
“But you told him at the airport-”
“No, I know that, but- I mean, he should have texted me after…” she trailed off, feeling ashamed of herself for being this upset. “After your wedding last year.”
“You mean after you two slept together again after my wedding last year.”
“Well, yeah. Once I got back to L.A. at least. But nothing.”
“You could’ve texted him then, as well.”
“Whose side are you on, anyway? I know Harry’s been your best friend forever and everything but I’m your sister-in-law! Doesn’t family by marriage mean anything to you?”
Hermione shook her head and rubbed her temples. “You two really need to sort out your issues on your own. But if it helps to know, he wasn’t really ‘hanging out’ with Cho. We were out with him and the others as well, Cho wasn’t in our group, she just happened to walk in with Michael Corner and they stopped by our table and said hi for a quick minute.”
“She’s dating Michael? My ex-boyfriend Michael?”
“Oh, yeah, they’ll be engaged any day now,” Hermione informed her.
“That lying piece of-”
“You’re both to blame here,” Hermione declared, using her I’m Putting My Foot Down voice. “Just act like adults for once and sort it out. Properly.”
Guilt enveloped her throughout the rest of the night and she hated how such a small exchange could do this to her, as she had to act like everything was okay, be happy for her brothers and talk about her life in L.A. and as a famous soccer player and sell the life she was living as one she was satisfied to have.
By the end of the evening, before he could leave, she found Harry by himself sitting and reading something intently on his phone. She took a deep breath and walked over to him. “Mind if I sit here?”
He looked up for a second, shook his head, and continued staring at his phone. She eased up just a tad, as she could tell his silence wasn’t his I’m Ignoring You silence, but rather his I’m Deep In Thought and Concentration silence. “Everything okay?” She asked, and when he glanced her way she gestured to his phone.
He gave a half-laugh, half sigh, looking back at his screen. “Yeah, it’s just some of these parents have no boundaries… emailing me during the holidays- on a Friday night no less. I’m just reading through them to decide if any of them are worth responding to outside of my automatic away signature.”
“Is this for the football team kids, or your English Literature students?”
“My Lit students, but there is some overlap. I have this one student, Danny, who’s a really great kid, and his parents are real dickheads, and they’re mad that he got a B+ instead of an A, despite me telling them last quarter that a B is a great grade, and Danny’s already self-conscious as it is and could use encouragement rather than nitpicking over bullshit-“
He caught sight of her face and quickly cut himself off, a blush spreading across his cheeks. She realized she was smiling- it was always nice to see Harry talk passionately about something- and quickly adjusted her facial features. He cleared his throat and closed his phone. “They can probably wait until after the holidays for me to repeat myself, I suppose.”
“I think that’s the right call,” she assured him.
He exhaled, running his hands through his hair and then over his face, trying to wipe off his exhaustion with it all. “Thanks.” He put his hands on his lap and looked at her fully, as he refused to do a couple of hours ago. “Ginny, I’m sorry-“
“No, I’m sorry,” she interjected. “I told you I’d let you know when I’d be here and I didn’t. You didn’t do anything wrong.”
“I let my frustration get the better of me,” he said with a sigh. “Classic Harry for you.”
She laughed, folding her legs into a pretzel in her seat. “Can’t blame you, really, as I’d probably behave the same.” She let out a breath and continued on. “Look, I did mean to text you and tell you I was back. I just… I don’t know, I was stupid, I thought it had to be the right timing, but I guess that doesn’t make much sense.”
“What, were you waiting for a sign or something?” he asked. He was joking when he asked, but as he processed the look on her face he rolled his eyes and chuckled. “Wow, Gin. You never stop amazing me.”
She blushed and laughed nervously, thinking of all the times in the past Harry had said something like that to her. She wanted to hear more of it, over and over, even when he’s saying it in jest. “That is what I do best.”
His features sharpened a bit and he leaned forward. “Well, how’s me asking to see you tomorrow for a sign?”
She put her hand on her chin and pretended to think about it. “A pretty good one, I’d say.”

Afterglow (A Bucky Barnes AU fan fiction) - Chapter 5

Afterglow chapters Pairing: Bucky Barnes x reader CHAPTER FIVE
Sometimes, the universe works in different dumb ways. You're one of the few lucky people if you get what you want, and one of those who aren't; the ones who run out of luck every damn time. There's nothing more miserable than finding what you're not looking for, meeting the right person at the wrong time (or vice versa), getting the wrong take out food, or riding the wrong cab.
Unlike your first cab ride, this one was different. There was no loud music, no speeding, no overtaking, and no yelling -- definitely not what you needed right now. See how the universe works in different dumb ways?
If Bucky wasn't hungover right now, you would've ran all the way from White Wolf to the bar. God, how much did he drink last night? After thirty minutes, the cab finally stopped in front of the bar. Bucky paid a generous amount. "Keep the change." He said casually before stepping out of the cab.
Without second thoughts, you walked the steps down that lead to the door of the bar. In front of it were sealed boxes and cases of different kinds of liquor -- beer, champagne, wine, whiskey, vodka; you name it. Luckily, you always had the bar keys in your pockets in case of emergencies. Lucky for Steve, one of his employees just lived right above the bar and had the freedom to come down any time she wanted. Steve lived all the way in Brooklyn. Why he chose to work in the Upper West Side, you might never know. He was a pretty secretive person. No one from the bar staff knew anything about his personal life -- except that his family was from Rhode Island (perhaps).
"That's a lot of boxes." Bucky caught up with you. "Good thing I'm here."
"Please." You scoffed. "You're still hungover." I bet he couldn't even carry one small box, and even if he could, he'd just spill them all over the floor. But you didn't really know Bucky. You just knew him from Peter's stories. So, when he carried two big boxes at the same time right before you opened the door, the shock came over you. You wondered, spending all his time partying and drinking, where he stores all the alcohol he consumes.
"Where do you want me to put this?" Bucky asked.
"Just right behind the counter." You replied. "If you need some help, let me know."
"I got it all, doll, don't you worry." He chuckled, placing the boxes on top of the counter then jumping over it to reach the other side. You rolled your eyes and got more of the boxes that were sitting lonely outside. You put a stopper right between the small gap between the floor and the door. "Nice place you got here!" You heard Bucky yell amidst the city noises. "Different kind of bar."
"You mean not like the kind of bar you go to?"
You heard him chuckle. "Yeah, that. This one's kind of vintage."
"Yeah." You replied, sticking your head out by the door frame. "Like you!"
He gave you a small chuckle. The bar did give off some vintage mood -- that was why it was a bar for everyone. The kids were now discovering and loving all kinds of vintage stuff, people in their fifties come here 'cause it reminded them of their time, and some are just curious.
On the inside of the bar, everyone was completely shut out from the outside. There were no windows, only color-stained glasses on the wooden walls near the ceiling. You can never tell day from night inside unless you look at the wall clock.
You pushed some of the boxes on the floor. You didn't have enough upper body strength to carry them all the way to the counter. By the time you reached Bucky, you carried the boxes one by one and placed them on the counter, then he carried them over to the other side.
"So vintage." He commented once again. "You even got a jukebox. Does that even work?" He motioned towards the jukebox.
You sensed he wanted to try it for himself so you told him he could give it a little push. He smiled and jumped over the counter once more. "You don't always have to jump, Bucky." You showed him the wooden counter pass-through he could easily open but his focus was set on the jukebox. He found the plug and waited for it to light up.
"Cool. Just like they do in the movies."
"Of course. What did you expect when you plugged that in?" You carried one box to the counter and stopped near the jukebox, leaning over it. "Besides, didn't you guys have this during your time?"
"You make it sound like I came from the fifties."
You raised your eyebrows, crossing your arms. "So, what did you guys have?"
"Cassettes." He mumbled.
"We had iPods. But at some point I think we did have cassettes, then the CD, then the iPods. Still doesn't change the fact that you're basically a dinosaur." Then you made a roaring sound which you thought was the sound of dinosaurs.
"That's not how a dinosaur sounds like, Aria."
"Of course, you'd know." You teased before going back to get some more boxes.
Bucky started to push some buttons until a mellow song played. "It's been a long, long time." He mumbled.
"What?" You asked and stopped pushing the boxes.
"The song. It's named 'It's been a long, long time.' A buddy of mine's favorite song. He and his girlfriend used to dance to it. Haven't heard this song for a long time. Quite nice."
"It is nice." You commented. "But it's too dramatic. Put some Beatles on!"
He chuckled and pushed more buttons until a song from The Beatles played.
You resumed moving all the things inside. As the boxes got heavier, assuming they were mostly the new plates and glasses, Bucky removed his polo shirt and dropped it somewhere. He was still wearing the tank top he had yesterday. "Remind me to buy Peter some new clothes."
"You're really gonna buy him new clothes?" You grunted, carrying a heavy box on the counter, passing it to Bucky.
"Yeah." He made a face, clearly struggling with the box. "I kinda destroyed what was half in his closet."
"I heard, yeah." You replied while walking to the front door to get the cases.
"You got some more back there?" Bucky yelled.
"It's the last one. I got it."
For the next hour, you and Bucky spent unpacking and placing everything where they were supposed to be. You had a few phone calls from Peter, most were just him checking up on Bucky. You promised to tell him you'd tell the whole fiasco at the White Wolf when he gets here in the bar.
"I'll be there as fast as I can." Peter replied before hanging up. You told Bucky about the phone call and he mumbled something under his breath you couldn't quite decipher. You decided to leave him be as he unloaded the last box.
Before you could even ask about the mean drink he was supposed to make, he emerged from behind the counter, holding up two bottles in his hand. "You up for some drinks?"
"As long as you pay for it."
On his hands were two expensive unopened bottles. As long as they were still half full and paid by Bucky, you wouldn't get in any kind of trouble with Steve.
"I got you, doll. Don't worry." He popped both of them open and grabbed two cups and a shaker as you sat down one of the stools, shaking off the nickname he'd been giving you ever since you arrived here at the bar.
You barely paid attention to the song still playing on the jukebox as you watched Bucky make his supposedly mean drink. He started to tell a story about how he learned to make his own drinks. Unlike Peter, he didn't bother to beat around the bush. He kept everything short and precise: A bartender friend of his taught him how to make drinks then experimented on his own in his penthouse where he had a mini bar just for himself, which was inside his own office. Odd, you thought. Most people would have them on the corner of the living room, with wine glasses dangling on hanging wine holders and shelves full of liquor. Bucky's mind worked in a different way.
Bucky's very short story made you wonder of all the other classic Bucky stories you've been told -- the long ones Peter would tell you. You wondered if they were only adventurous and wild in Peter's words. Would they have been different if you'd heard them from Bucky?
"I'm gonna name this drink after you." Bucky snapped you out of your train of thought.
"What?"
"This one." He carefully  handed me the drink. "I made it based on your personality."
"Bucky." You chuckled, gazing at the drink before me. Then returned it to him. "You don't even know me."
"And to think we were just engaged a while ago." He pursed his lips and leaned on the bar counter, then licked his lower lip. You tried your hardest not to give a quick glance at it but you obviously failed, so you stared at the drink in front of you once again.
"This drink is basically your judgement about me." You replied.
"It's a good judgement." He retorted. "Trust me."
"You're gonna pay, right?"
"Yeah, yeah." He playfully rolled his eyes. "Go on, try it."
Before you could even take a small sip, someone came in the door and your instinct was to say: "Sorry, we're closed right now" but it turned out to be Steve wearing denim on denim and a cap.
"Steve!" Quickly, you gave Bucky the drink he made you, then he hid it behind the counter where Steve could not take even a small peak. "Hey, I thought you were with your family."
Steve managed to catch his breath, leaning against the wall while keeping his eyes on you. "I have been calling you for the past few minutes. I thought you didn't make it here."
Your eyes widened, taking a quick glance at your phone which was on top of the bar counter. On the bright screen were a bunch of missed calls from Steve. You gave him an apologetic look and he just sighed as he walked towards the counter. Then, he caught a glimpse of Bucky who was right behind you.
"Right, right." You shook my head. "Bucky, this is Steve. He's my boss. And Steve, this is Bucky. He's Peter's stepbrother. He's just helping me out with the boxes."
There was an odd exchange between the two for a second or three. A knowing look. But you shrugged it off when Steve shook Bucky's hand over the counter. "Bucky. Nice to meet you."
Steve nodded. "Aren't you the owner of White Wolf?"
"That's me." Bucky chuckled, withdrawing his hand back after the friendly handshake.
Steve focused his attention back to you. "You could've called me y'know."
"It's okay. Bucky came to help. Besides," you gave Bucky a side glance, "he owes me."
"Zip it, doll."
You laughed, looking at Steve. "Aren't you supposed to be at your family gathering?" you asked, practically shooing Steve away, not wanting him to see Bucky making drinks behind the counter.
"Yeah, well I thought -- "
"Go, Steve. We're basically finished." You stood up and walked Steve out the door. Bucky yelled a simple goodbye as we walked.
"So," Steve whispered once we were at the door, "are you two..."
You gave him a look of disbelief. "What? No, no, no, no, no. We're not. We just met."
"That's what they all say."
"Rogers." You grunted as you opened the door. "Go."
"Wow, so eager to get me out of here. Are you gonna have sex on the floor?"
"Steve!"
"Please, don't have sex on the floor."
"No, we won't. Now go."
Steve laughed as he walked up the steps and hailed for a cab. "You say that now, Aria. Just remember to clean up afterwards."

the ending scene | kuroo t.
pairing: kuroo tetsurou x f!reader word count, genre: 2.3k words, angst. kenma makes a cameo and offers support as the good friend that he is.  summary: in which kuroo realizes that his relationship is edging closer to its end, and it’s up to him to cut the ties.
Tumblr media
“Did you really love me?” His question takes you by surprise, your words getting stuck in your throat. “I want to know,” his voice breaks. “In the years that we were together, did you ever truly love me?”
How do you look at the person you love and tell yourself that it is time to walk away?
It’s a thought that has been sitting in Kuroo’s mind for a while now. And as he’s standing outside the library, the glass windows giving him unobstructed view of you, it seems to him that he’s much closer to the answer more than he thought.
You weren’t alone. He recognizes the person you were with and his heart clenches at the sight.
Yanagi was their name, and he remembers meeting him during a college party. His mind plays back that moment when you happily introduced them to each other. They were the two most important men in your life as you declared. It had only been a few weeks since you two started dating, but he was genuinely touched that you’d already considered him a special person in your life.
But looking at the two of you from his current spot, he wonders if he still holds that position. Right now, anyone could easily mistake you and Yanagi for a couple. For a study session, the two of you seemed too close for comfort, and any other day, he wouldn’t think anything of it. He knows that Yanagi has been your best friend for years. The pair of you go way back, even before Kuroo had entered your lives.
And he respects that. It wasn’t in Kuroo’s personality to ever be possessive to the point that he’d stop you from being friends with others. In fact, he’s the one who’s always pushing you to be more social and hang out with your friends. Just because he was dating you doesn’t mean he wants to monopolize you.
But he has his moments when he wonders if he has ever made you smile the way you were smiling in Yanagi’s presence right now. He ponders if you’d ever laughed so hard with him, tears of joy spilling from the corners of your eyes, the way Yanagi was making you right now. You seem so free, so comfortable with Yanagi, and he couldn’t help but wish that it was him instead who was by your side.
Kuroo has half a mind to turn around and leave you be, knowing that Yanagi would bring you home safely anyway. But your eyes catch his, and suddenly he feels frozen in his spot.
You wave, the smile that he’s fallen in love with paints your face as you call him over. His resolve to go home and talk to Kenma about his worries dissipates the instant you beckon for him.
“I was wondering when you’d arrive,” you stand and kiss him on the cheek the moment he reaches your table. “I’m getting hungry. It’s about time we go for dinner, don’t you think?”
He reaches to carry your laptop, helping you fix your things. “Is Yanagi joining us?” He watches you, anxious as he waits for your answer. You take a second to think it over, but he doesn’t miss how your face lightens up at his suggestion. He watches you excitedly turn to your friend, inviting him to go. And it was when Yanagi agrees that Kuroo realizes his mistake.
“Why are you here, Kuroo?” Kenma drops his bag at the side of his bed where the boy currently in question was lounging. “I know I gave you access to my flat, but that doesn’t mean you can just barge in here without a warning.”
Kuroo grumbles, tossing and turning in his friend’s bed before he sits up with a scowl on his face. He exhales loudly, his hands flying to his hair to ruffle them in his confusion. “I don’t know what to do.”
“What do you mean?” Kenma drags his gaming chair and takes a seat across Kuroo. He already has a hunch about his friend’s problem, but he didn’t want to assume and get ahead of himself. In times like these, he’d known that it was better for Kuroo to open up and talk about it by himself.
Kuroo opens his mouth and closes them again. He hesitates. As if the moment he starts talking about it would mean that he’s already admitted his defeat, already accepted the dreadful fate that awaits his relationship.
“Is it her?”
“Yeah.”
“What is it this time?” Kenma wasn’t a stranger to his friend’s overthinking, the way he would come up with a hundred different scenarios that was not helping with the waging war in his mind.
“I’m not sure if I’m still the right person for her,” he confesses. “Yesterday, I went to pick her up at the library and I wasn’t expecting anything, but it still didn’t feel right to see her with him. You know Yanagi.”
Kenma nods, the name ringing a bell in his mind as it had already come up in previous conversations with him. His friend continues, “I know that she’s been nothing but good to me. She’s the best partner that I could ever ask for. I’m happy. We are happy, but yesterday, I saw it in her eyes.
The way she looked at him. I don’t think she’s ever looked at me like that. Not a moment when she smiled or laughed with me the way she did with him.”
He’s never seen Kuroo conflicted like this. Sure, this wasn’t the first time that his former captain came to him for relationship advice. But this was the first that Kuroo’s seemed so desperate, so dejected that the only thing that he was considering was letting go.
“They… have a lot of history together, huh?”
Kuroo chuckles dryly at the remark. “Yeah, and I don’t think I can ever compete with that.”
“But you were together for three years. Wouldn’t it be a complete waste just to give up and throw it all away because, I’m sorry for the word, you were insecure?”
Kenma was right. It’s not that he didn’t trust you; he was insecure, and his doubts were eating him up from the inside. It doesn’t help that there were people around you and him that kept talking about Yanagi, complimenting their easy and comfortable friendship – how they seem like the bestest of friends, like they were soulmates.
“I don’t think I can ever compete with what they have.” Kuroo plops back down on the bed, his voice muffled when he says, “Our three years seem nothing compared to the decades that they have spent together.”
“So,” Kenma sits up and grabs a bottle of beer, one for him and one for Kuroo. “What are you going to do?”
He sees the drink in Kenma’s hand and grabs it. Sitting up, he pops open the cold beverage and takes a sip before asking, “How do you look at the one you love and tell yourself that it is time to walk away?
Sympathizing with his friend, Kenma thinks over his reply, “You don’t want to carry this burden forever. You should already know what to do before it all becomes too much, and you can’t recover.”
After meeting with Kenma, Kuroo spent the rest of his evening productive, doing his homework and writing papers to keep his mind from steering to thoughts of you.
The answer was already staring him in the face. But it was still so hard for him to come to terms with it. You were the best thing to happen to him, and he vividly remembers the time when he was so mesmerized when he saw you. People say it doesn’t happen in real life, but Kuroo swears he fell in love at first sight.
He reminisces on your many firsts together. The second-hand embarrassment lingering when he remembers the sleepless nights he spent practicing how he would say those three words to you. But you were a force to be reckoned with.
The words I love you catching him by surprise when they slip out of your mouth one afternoon while you were cuddling in his apartment. He wishes he could turn back time, prays that he could experience it all over again so he could press capture and keep it in his memory.
But he couldn’t, and the reality pains him more than he ever thought it could.
Kuroo spent the whole weekend holed up in his room. Not bothering to check his phone for messages and calls, missing how you left so many texts and voicemails on the device. The sudden silent treatment was worrying you, but you gave up, deciding that you’d talk to him at campus.
However, once the new school week started, Kuroo was nowhere to be seen. He was still not answering any messages, and the rare times that you’d catch him, he’d have an excuse that he had somewhere urgent to go to. But a person could only be busy for so many times.
Besides, you knew his schedule like the back of your hand. And it was becoming clear to you that he was ignoring you. But for why? You sadly didn’t know.
Kuroo felt bad. He was already experiencing the effects of withdrawal from distancing himself from you. He’s been so used to you being part of his every day that it was making him feel empty without you.
But this was what he had to do, and ignoring you was his way of slowly preparing himself, and you, for the inevitable.
And the inevitable happens right after your last class on a Friday. A whole week passed by in a blink of an eye, and you were getting hopeless over no interaction with Kuroo. Yanagi had suggested for you to check up on him at his apartment, but you knew that maybe Kuroo needed the time alone.
So when you found him waiting for you outside the classroom, you ran and tackled him with a hug. “You dummy, I missed you. How could you be so cold to me this past week?”
He laughs, but it didn’t sound like him. “I’m sorry, I got busy with my majors.” He takes your pile of folders and carries it. “Shall we head to our usual place for some snacks?”
You agree, but there was a nagging voice in your head telling you to prepare for things to be never be the same again.
The after-school date was decent. You and Kuroo caught up with your activities, exchanging stories that you’d been wanting to tell him for the past week. You notice him nodding to your words, but you avoid commenting on his disinterest and the way he seemed so occupied.
It was when the pair of you were walking home that you finally brought it up. “Okay, something is clearly bothering you. What’s wrong?”
His head remains downcast, the hold on your hand tightening, “We need to talk.”
He makes a stop to the playground near your home. He lets go of your hand, walking to the bench and takes a seat. You reluctantly follow suit. Without any minute to spare, Kuroo takes a deep breath and lays it down. “We should break up.”
You wondered if you heard him right, frantically searching his face for any indication that he was joking. That he was pulling a prank despite April Fool’s Day being months away from now. “What did you just say?”
He’s avoiding your look, “We should end this.”
“Is that why you’ve been ignoring me?” You lash out, getting to your feet and standing in front of him. “Don’t think that I haven’t noticed. You’ve been so indifferent, so absent, and even today, you weren’t the Kuroo that I am in love with.”
He snaps, finally looking at you. “Did you really love me?” His question takes you by surprise, your words getting stuck in your throat. “I want to know,” his voice breaks. “In the years that we were together, did you ever truly love me?”
“Where is this coming from?” You were shaking. “What ar-”
But he was relentless, “What do you think of Yanagi?” That question seemed to hit the nail on the head as you stood still, dumbfounded, shoulders sagging because for once, you didn’t know how to answer.
“You love them, don’t you?” He smiles sadly. “And not just as a friend.”
It’s like a cold wave washes over you, and the tension was getting too much. You take a seat beside him and Kuroo pats your head in understanding. “I see it. How you’re falling in love with him right in front of my eyes, and how he is being the same.” He drops his hand. “But I can’t blame you. I know he’s been there for you longer than I have, and there’s clearly chemistry between you two.”
You didn’t know when you started crying, but your face was becoming wet with tears every second that passes by. “I didn’t… I wasn’t lying all those times that I told you I loved you.”
“I know.” You just love him more, he figures.
“I’m sorry.” The instant you said those words, Kuroo feels his heart split in two. He never wanted to make you cry like this, let alone make you say those words. But this was it, the ending of his love.
“I should be saying that.” He knows you were hurting too, but he also knows that by doing this, you could finally have the chance to be truly happy even if it weren’t by his side anymore.
“I’m sorry for taking you from them. For robbing you of precious time you could’ve spent with them.” He kneels down, taking your face in his hands and wiping the tears. “But thank you for letting me experience what it’s like to be loved by you for the past three years.”
One last kiss on your forehead.
“I’ll always be rooting for your happiness.”
And with one last searing kiss on the lips as goodbye, Kuroo makes his exit from your life and draws the curtain down on his chapter with you.

You are good at angst so 28 bestie <3
I hope this was angsty enough for you Rubi! I spent yesterday and today's warm up on this one. I swear all the prompts I've done, they've all gone in directions I wasn't expecting. This definitely wasn't the scene I meant to write, but I quite like it. Please enjoy <3
#28 – When I am dead – Dean/Castiel
“I know I’ve screwed up more than any of us could have predicted, which is….impressive in it’s own way, but….I’m glad that you have Jack.”
With the tips of his fingers, Dean lightly twisted and turned the beer bottle on the bunker’s kitchen table. As he spoke, he was still hunched over and watching the last third of his drink splash and move against the glass. The silence stretched longer than he’d hoped. He glanced up to find Cas staring at him confused.
“Oh, come on,” he breathed. “We all know I haven’t done a bang up job.”
Cas’ eyebrows pinched together. “Jack idolizes you. You know that, right?”
A painful laugh tore from his throat. “You really need to introduce him to….honestly anyone would be a better role model.”
“It’s not your call. Dean, he loves you.”
“He’s a toddler. He doesn’t…..” Dean pushed the bottle aside and ran his hands roughly through his hair. Exhaling, he leaned back in his chair. “Cas, he didn’t even get to be a baby because I shot him not even an hour after he was born.”
Cas sighed exasperatedly, “Maybe you’re right.” He held Dean’s gaze for several heartbeats before letting his head slowly tilt. “What’s important is that Jack has all of us. He’ll always need you.”
“Even without the Michael situation….” Dean rubbed the back of his neck. “It’s not the same. He’ll have you. You’ll have each other long after the rest of us are dust in the wind.”
“Dean.”
“What! It’s true.” He picked up his beer again. His eyes locked on the lip of the bottle. “I’m glad you’ll have each other. I don’t want you to spend the rest of existence alone.”
Cas sighed, but this time his stare softened. “Dean, I….” His voice was laced with pain.
“I know,” Dean cut in. “It’s heavy and I’m not aiming for any kind of big emotional moments here, but...with Michael trapped-” He tapped the side of his head with his left index finger. “I figure I don’t have a lot of time.”
“You have decades,” Cas said firmly. “We’re going to solve this problem just as we’ve always done and you’re going to be here to see Jack’s 5thbirthday.” He stood up and laid both hands on the kitchen table. “And then his 10th, 16th, 21st, 25th, 30th, 40th, and 50th!”
Coughing, Dean put his beer down and raised his hands, hoping that Cas would calm down. “Do you realize how old I’d be?”
“Yes,” Cas said with a deadly serious aura. “I’ve done the math, several times.”
“You might wanna run it again,” Dean joked. He wasn’t able to stop his tongue. “If you ask Claire she’d tell you that I’m already geriatric for a hunter.”
The corner of Cas’ lip twitched. “I don’t doubt her assessment. If you remove hunting from the equation, then there’s no reason why you couldn’t see any of those milestone birthdays for Jack. Claire’s milestone birthdays as well.”
“You’re asking an awful lot,” Dean shook his head. He could still vividly remember the days where he honest to God thought that living past 30 was a pipedream, and now, Cas was expecting him to see his 90s….
“It’s the bare minimum.” Cas sat back down in his seat. He still had the palms of his hands resting on the cool table.
“As long as you’re in the wheel chair next to me,” Dean grinned. The thought of living to a ripe old age was terrifying, but he could do it if Cas was there with him. His nervous heartbeat started to settle the moment he imagined the angel there at his side. His hair would be more than peppered with gray patches. He’d probably be wearing reading glasses so much they’d be glued to his nose. And he’d have a closet of colorful, chunky knit sweaters to replace his long worn out trench coat.
Cas’ warm smile quickly wobbled and wavered before some other emotion won in his eyes. Dean almost chased it, but then it too was replaced with something else: a more teasing glint. A hint of Cas’ teeth caught his eye now. “I’ll try my best, but I’d imagined I would be kicking your wheel chair to every event.”
“Oh right,” Dean mumbled, remembering the whole point of this conversation. “Angels are eternal.” He laughed. “People will eventually think you’re my grandson.”
“I was thinking…..more like nurse, or doctor.”
Dean swallowed sharply. He nodded, trying to ignore the way his ears burned.
The look dimmed in Cas’ eyes, and his shoulders slumped. “I’m sorry,” he muttered. “I don’t want you to give up. I can’t imagine this world without you in it.”
“I get it,” Dean said, losing himself to his memories. There was something about that kind of pain that made any complication seem solvable. Like it wasn’t until he’d been cleaved open by death’s scythe that his truth was free.
Dean still remembered his father pulling Sammy free from his arms as their house burned down, and how even still his mouth couldn’t stop whispering to empty air the same promises: I love you. Dad will fix this. We’re safe.
What felt like a life time later, he remembered whispering almost the same words into his brother’s hair as he bled out in his arms. I love you. I’ll fix this. I’ll bring you home.
The worst was when his hands shook uncontrollably in the dirt and ash outside of Kelly’s cabin in North Cove. Dean waited from the moment the light extinguished from Cas’ eyes all the way until the final coals cooled for a miracle. He waited for Cas to rise. He waited for his world to start spinning again.
It wasn’t until he was down on his knees with his wrist buried in the pyre’s remains that he was torn in half. The sun was never gonna shine again. And now there was no warmth to hold, hair to comb, and skin to touch. Dean cried until he was too exhausted to keep spilling out the same words over, and over again: I love you. Come back to me. I’m so sorry. Please, don’t leave me.
His throat hurt like he was suffocating on the pyre’s smoke. Dean’s gaze slid back to Cas, and he was able to breathe deep again. Cas’ studied him like he was desperately trying to uncover what horrors he was reliving again, so Dean downed the last of his drink, but he couldn’t bear to break the eye contact. Like a part of him was still afraid that Cas would turn to ash dusting the meadow’s flowers once again.
“What’s wrong?”
“Nothing,” Dean lied. How do you tell someone that you’re incapable of loving them until they’re dead? “I just….” Dean shook his head. “Can you promise me something?”
“Anything, of course.”
“When I die-”
“Dean.” Cas leaned back in his chair.
“Dude, just listen. When I die, I need you to promise me that you’ll come visit me. Break me out of whatever memory loop I’m in.”
Bewildered, Cas’ eyebrows furrowed. “Okay.”
“There’s something I’ll only be able to say then.”
Cas leaned forward in his chair. His stare pierced into Dean, unwavering, like he was certain that he could learn all he needed from his eyes alone. “Dean, you can tell me now. You can always tell me, anything at all.”
“I know, but just promise me this. It’ll be worth the wait.”

Childishness (JJ x Reader)
A/N: And now a JJ fic! I’m so excited about this one. I swear this anon has the best ideas ever (I’m pretty sure it’s the same anon that requested Hotel Madness). I just love this kind of childish and fluffy concepts with JJ.
Pairing: JJ x Reader
Word count: 3,704
Request: Hey! me again — so like an imagine where you're close friends with Kie and work at the Wreck with her and just always having this banter with JJ or something
Summary: You had met JJ because he was a friend of your coworker, Kie. And from the start you both seemed to hit it off. If by hitting it off you meant banters and ridiculous discussions.
Warnings: A bit of swearing, a bit of angst, a bit of abuse (no fighting but bruises and the aftermath of abuse) and a whole lot of FLUFF
CHILDISHNESS
JJ had first heard of you from Kie. He was out on the water with all of the Pogues when she had mentioned you, her new coworker, and how cool you were.
“So there’s this girl, Y/N, right?” Kie began to say. “She started working my same shifts about a week ago and she’s awesome. But you guys would never guess what she did yesterday!”
The rest of the Pogues weren’t very interested in what Kie was saying (except Pope, who stared at her with loving eyes), so they simply muttered out a small, “What?”
JJ was at the bow, pulling up a net filled with fishes onto the boat as John B was sipping a beer next to the fishing rod he had perched on the side of the HMS Pogue.
“She kneed Rafe in the balls!” Kie exclaimed. John B spit out his beer out and JJ whipped around to look at Kie. “Holy shit, really?” John asked from his side. JJ was now interested in this girl. If she could kick Rafe with no shame, then she was definitely worthy of the Pogue’s time.
“Yeah! He had been trying to flirt with her all night and then when she finally rejected him, he got all pissy and began to come at her.”
“And then she kicked him?” Pope inquired. Kie nodded her head vigorously. She took a sip from her beer before laying it down next to her and continuing on the bracelet she was making.
“I think we should hang out with her. She’s really cool.”
The Pogues never agreed to actually hang out with her, but JJ’s curiosity was peaked just enough for him to head over to the Wreck the following afternoon during Kie’s shift.
Opening the door to the busy restaurant, JJ spotted Kie behind the counter. He sat down in front of the bar and smiled at her. Kie just gave him a knowing look.
“She’s outside right now, but she’ll be back soon,” she said, turning her back on him to get some drinks for a couple of customers. JJ opened his mouth out wide, offended that she had said that (even if it was true).
“What? I only came here to see you!” he exclaimed. Kie rolled her eyes and noticed you walking back inside. Following Kie’s eyes, JJ spotted you for the first time. His mouth fell open again. This time in shock.
You were exactly his type. From your hair color to the shape of your face to your lips to everything. You were everything he had ever wanted in a girl.
“I can’t believe some of these customers!” you told Kie, not even sparing JJ a glance.
Kie laughed. She knew what you meant. “Yeah, tell me about it.”
Turning towards JJ, you smiled at him. “May I get you a drink, sir?”
JJ knew that you thought he was a customer, so he kept playing along with what you thought. “Yes, please. And also some fries, babygirl.”
At the nickname you rolled your eyes. This was what you had been talking to Kie the past few shifts you had together. Customers were always trying to flirt.
Kie laughed at your reaction before throwing the rag in her hands at JJ’s face. Shocked you turned to look at her. Noticing your expression she laughed even louder.
JJ removed the rag from his face and glared at Kie. “Wow, thanks, Kie. That was so nice of you.”
Kie continued to giggle while your questioning eyes darted between the blond boy and the brunette girl.
“That’s you get for trying to flirt with her, J.”
You were still confused. “Um, excuse me? Do you two know each other?”
Kie simply nodded while JJ continued to glare at her. “Yeah. This is JJ, my best friend.”
“Oh,” you blushed. You had been pretty rude to him before and now it turns out he’s Kie’s friend? “I’m sorry for being rude. I’m Y/N.”
JJ stared at your hand that was outstretched before you. He took it, shaking it up and down before relishing in its softness. He smiled, making you smile in return. Then you let go.
Before an awkward silence could fall over the three of you, JJ said, “I wasn’t joking about the drink and the fries, Y/N.”
The teasing tone in his voice made you laugh. Instead of heading towards the kitchen, you turned to Kie. “What do you think? Should we get him what he wants?”
Kie pretended to think before shaking his head. Once again JJ pretended to be offended before transforming his facial expression to resemble one of a small puppy.
“Your puppy eyes won’t get you what you want, JJ,” you said, already comfortable around him. He had an aura that was friendly and sweet, and you liked it. He seemed to be nice and funny and a good friend, which were all traits you cherished in people.
“You’re the first girls that have ever resisted my pleas,” JJ stated in a breathy voice. You giggled once again as Kie moved past you towards a table that was on her section of the restaurant.
“Yeah, right. I don’t believe that at all,” you lied. He was attractive, and you could bet that he had spent many nights with many girls. And that he had a line of girls hoping to be his next conquest.
“Are you kidding? Have you seen me? I’m the definition of hot,” he stated as a fact. Grabbing onto your tray, you began to move away from the counter.
“I’m working right now. I’m too busy to hear your dirty lies!”
As you walked away JJ checked you out, shaking his head. He was glad that you had taken his joking lightly, and even gladder that you had been able to respond to his banter so smoothly. Not only were you perfect look-wise, but you seemed to be perfect personality-wise as well.
Once you had returned to the counter you found JJ still there, playing around with a lighter. Kie was still not back and you guessed she was probably taking orders from new clients that had entered the Wreck recently.
“So, are you like an arsonist or something?” you asked him teasingly as you approached him. You had cleaned out most of your side of the restaurant, which meant that you could relax for a little. “You seem to like playing with the fire of that little lighter.”
JJ smirked. “I might be. I guess you’ll never truly know.”
You gasped, pretending to be scared for your life. He looked up at you as his fingers stilled, cocking an eyebrow in your direction. Once a smile broke out onto your face, his smile followed along.
*********************************************
“You know that the Lake Ness monster would win, right? Like, it’s obvious,” you said before heading to a table to take the family’s plates. You smiled at the small children and their parents before saying, “I’ll be right back to take your orders for dessert.”
JJ had been following you around the Wreck, trying to reply to your conversation. “You’re kidding, right? King Kong would win!”
You spun around to look at him. “How? I bet King Kong can’t swim, and we specifically said that they were in a body of water.”
You continued to make your way to the kitchen, pushing the doors open as JJ followed you right in. Nobody even flinched at his presence. He had been there every time you had been there during that day. He had been visiting the Wreck a lot more frequently since he had met you, always trying to make an excuse to see you. He would mostly steal Kie’s belongings when she was hanging around the Pogues and then take it back to the Wreck the following day. It was the best way to make sure to have an excuse to see you and talk to you.
JJ would not admit it to his friends, but over the past two weeks he had developed a crush on you. It began with a simple infatuation the first day he had met you, but it had developed to a full-on crush after having bantered with you for the first time.
Your childishness was something Kie lived for. There was never a boring moment between you two, and hearing your ridiculous arguments always made her day better. She was also happy for her blond friend. Kie could tell that seeing you was JJ’s favorite part of the day. The smile on his face every time he was around you or around someone that mentioned you was enough evidence of this.
“Have you seen King Kong’s muscles? That boy is ripped!” JJ exclaimed while putting his hands before him as if it was obvious. You still had your back towards him while you left the kitchen, but turned your head to stare at him. God, you thought.
You headed towards the table you had just been at a minute before and took your notepad from the pocket of your apron. “Okay, what may I get you for dessert?”
As the family relayed their order to you, JJ stood at your side waiting. He watched you write, the loopy and smooth letters of your writing covering the page. When he saw you hesitate regarding an order, he said, “Vanilla ice cream.”
You gave him a thankful smile as you wrote the last order down and went back to the kitchen. JJ was still hot on your trail. “So? What are you going to say to defend the Lake Ness monster?”
You laughed as JJ kept pushing. “Or are you ready to admit that I’m right?”
“God, no,” you exclaimed. You pinned the order at the wire that hung over the dessert station in the kitchen. “Look, is King Kong ripped? Yes.”
JJ did motions of victory as you turned towards him. “Are his arms going to be of any use if he can’t swim? No, they won’t.”
JJ froze in the middle of his victory dance. “Huh?”
You giggled for the millionth time around JJ. “I rest my case.”
You pushed past him and exited the kitchen. You stood behind the counter, grabbing a coke can and spilling its contents into two glasses.
You placed one on the counter for JJ and sipped the drink from the other cup. It was cold, which refreshed your sweaty body. JJ took his usual seat behind the counter and smiled at you before taking a huge gulp from his coke. Your nose scrunched up.
“How can you drink that so fast? The gas bothers me way too much to be able to do that.”
JJ burped. “I’m just too good at chugging. Years of practice at keggers, you know?”
You swatted your hand in the space between you and JJ, trying to get rid of the smell of coke he had burped out. “I bet you suck at chugging. You’re just saying that to make yourself sound badass or whatever.”
JJ laughed and exclaimed, “I swear it’s true! Just ask Kie about it.”
You giggled and took another sip from your cup. Suddenly a bell chimed from the kitchen. You stood up and headed inside taking the dessert order from the counter where it was perched on. Once outside you headed towards the table of the small family and placed the food down.
“And the vanilla ice cream,” you stated placing the tall glass on the table along with a spoon. “Is there anything else you would like?”
The mother of the family smiled at you before shaking her head. However, her small daughter said, “You and your boyfriend are really cute!”
You blushed. “My what?”
“Your boyfriend,” she repeated as if it was the most obvious and natural thing in the world. “The blond boy that follows you around!”
You turned to look at JJ. He already had his eyes on you and waved his hand when they connected. You blushed even harder than before and returned your body towards the girl.
“He’s not my boyfriend,” you explained. She just shrugged and continued to lick her ice cream.
***************************************
It was the first time in a month that JJ wasn’t at the Wreck during your shift. You frowned at how bored you were. Everything seemed dimmer when he wasn’t around, and you felt yourself longing for his presence.
“Cheer up, baby,” Kie said to you. “He’s just busy. It’s not like he has another girlfriend or something.”
You sighed, rubbing your hands on your face before trying to slick your baby hairs back. “I know that. I just get bored.”
“Ugh, you guys are so in love it makes me nauseous,” she groaned, making you laugh.
“We aren’t in love. We’re just friends.”
Kie could only scoff. Nobody with eyes would ever believe that.
“You keep telling yourself that.”
You frowned at this. Did you and JJ really give off that impression?
You were brought out of your thoughts by a customer raising their hand and waving you over. You sighed, missing JJ.
**************************************
One day JJ showed up extremely bruised. It was a Thursday, which meant that it was your day closing up. The restaurant was almost empty and you gasped when you caught sight of him.
“JJ!” you sped to where he had collapsed. “Are you okay?”
JJ nodded slowly, but it soon turned into a shake of his head. “I got beat up.”
“Well, I can see that, Captain Obvious. What do I do to help you?”
JJ laughed at your response before simply hugging you. He breathed in and out, calming his heart. It had quite the opposite effect, as his heart began to hammer in his chest from being around you.
You wrapped your hands around his body for a few moments before pushing him back. “I’m pretty sure there’s a first aid kit somewhere.”
As you began to search for the kit, JJ clenched and unclenched his hands. He wasn’t going to tell you about his father, but he could at least seek comfort in you.
Placing the kit beside him, you began to clean JJ’s wounds. The ones on his face weren’t very big. The cuts had already begun to bleed less as you passed the cotton swab over them. The bruises were a bit bigger, and as you slowly raised his shirt (after asking for permission from him), you noticed he was completely littered with them.
You took out a tube of cream from the kit that said it would help get rid of bruising. Taking some of it in your hands, you used the fingers of the other to spread it over his skin as softly as you could. You didn’t want to hurt him more than he already was.
JJ tried to level his breathing. He hated feeling the way his father made him feel. Luke Maybank made JJ feel weak and sad and unloved. The exact opposite of what you made him feel.
Once you stood up and stared down at JJ you had the urge to hug him. So you did. He wrapped his arms around you. A tear fell down his cheek and onto the skin of your chest. His sniffles filled the silent air of the restaurant, and you were certain you heard the kitchen door close behind the last person leaving. Your hands moved up and down the blond’s back until you could no longer feel him shake.
He pulled away from you just enough to look up at you. He opened his mouth to speak his gratitude towards you, but you said, “I know, JJ.”
He closed his mouth again and pressed himself as close to your body as possible. His vulnerability shone new light upon him, revealing a side to the boy you had never seen. You wanted to help him and be there for him and just -- you wanted to love him.
Your realization made you freeze for a second, afraid of what it meant. However, not a second later, you realized that if it meant being with JJ than it was fine. He made it fine.
Trying to lighten the mood you said, “Are the other guys worse than you are?”
JJ laughed softly, tracing his fingers over the vertebrae of your back. His fingers circled them through your shirt. “You bet.”
His whisper was soft but he sounded strong. Because that was what he was. Strong.
You didn’t let go of him until the sun began to rise the following morning.
*************************************************
John B had noticed that JJ began to stay over at the Chateau less and less. He had decided that the next time he saw his blond best friend, he would ask him about it.
“Where have you been staying recently, man?” John B inquired the following day on the HMS Pogue. JJ was laying down at the bow of the small boat while Kie was seated on top of her cooler and Pope was resting against the seat behind the wheel.
“At Y/N’s,” JJ replied, not really thinking much about it. Kie perked up, as well as the two other boys.
“What do you mean ‘at Y/N’s’?” Kie wondered. Pope and John B weren’t really sure who Y/N even was.
JJ groaned. “I mean I’ve been staying at Y/N’s.”
“Are you sleeping with my friend, J?” Kie voiced out. That made everything click in John B’s and Pope’s mind.
“Holy shit, you got a girlfriend?” John B asked. He was surprised and shocked. JJ had always been a ladies’ man and never one to commit.
“No way,” Pope whispered.
JJ rubbed his hands over his face before putting his hands in his hair. “No, Kie. I’m not. But thanks for putting that image in my head and making me hard.”
The exasperated tone of his voice was enough to confirm that he was indeed not sleeping around with you.
Kie gagged at what JJ had said while John B let out a boisterous laugh.
“So what’s she like?” Pope asked.
“I’ve told you about her thousands of times already! Did you ever listen?” Kie questioned.
John B and Pope shared a blank look before muttering, “No, not really.”
It was JJ’s turn to laugh. Then he spoke, “She’s amazing, man. Y/N’s just easy to be with and she’s down to earth and easygoing and -- she’s perfect. Perfect for me at least.”
John B cooed. “Our little J is in love!!!!”
Pope laughed and began to poke at JJ’s side, teasing him about you. Kie joined in as well and noticed how red JJ’s cheeks were. He was blushing.
When everyone calmed down, Kie asked, “You actually love her, don’t you?”
JJ could only nod. He really did.
*************************************************
“Oh my God, shut up! You know burritos are better than tacos!” you shrieked at the blond in front of you.
You were closing up the Wreck, about to head home with JJ. He had arrived in the early afternoon and had been making conversation with you. Obviously you both fell into your normal antics. Childish banter.
“No way,” JJ laughed. He grabbed onto your hand and began to walk home with you. “I know for a fact that tacos are better. They are way more - I don’t know - fresh than burritos are.”
You looked down at your clasped hands and smiled. The past few weeks had been different compared to the first seven months of your relationship with JJ. He had been holding your hand and hugging you for longer than usual. And you absolutely loved it.
“How about we just agree to disagree for a change,” you offered to him, looking up into his baby blue eyes.
He smiled back at you and gave in to what you had said. “Okay.”
You walked in silence for a while, turning down a small street on the Cut where your house was. Your hands were swinging between your bodies and you wondered whether he felt the same things you did for him.
“What are we doing tonight?” he asked you. Normally you would always have a plan: a movie to watch or something to bake. JJ had always just followed along with whatever you wanted.
“I don’t know,” you admitted. “We can do whatever you want to do.”
JJ smiled at this. All he wanted to do was lay in bed and hug you. So that was exactly what he did. After each of you had taken a shower and changed into something to sleep in, he pulled you into your bed and smiled at you. His arms went around your body and pulled you close to him.
You felt the sudden urge to kiss him. But you didn’t act upon it. You only stared at him.
He opened one of his eyes. “What are you doing?”
You sighed. You thought of what Kie had said to you earlier that week. He loves you, her voice rang in your head. I know he does, and I know you love him, too.
“I have a confession,” you began. “I really want to kiss you right now.”
JJ snapped his eyes open. “Oh.”
Silence floated around you only for a second before JJ spoke again. “Why don’t you?”
You stared at him blankly. “What?”
“Why don’t you kiss me?”
“Oh, um, I don’t know. I’m nervous, maybe?”
JJ laughed at the stressed tone of your voice. You were going to begin to rant soon, so JJ decided to prevent that from happening. He leaned forward and connected your lips for a moment. He began to pull back, but you wrapped your hands around his neck, bringing him back towards you. His lips were soft and gentle and sleepy. Your’s were too.
When you broke apart the both of you smiled.
“That wasn’t so bad, Maybank.”
JJ laughed and brought you to rest on his chest. “Don’t be so childish.”
You scoffed, offended. “I thought you loved my childishness.”
“I do,” JJ mumbled, drifting off. “I love all of you.”
You smiled softly, pressing one last little peck on JJ’s lips before laying down and dozing off.
“I love all of you, too.”

Jesse McCree x Male!Reader - Confess it, else I'll take it to my grave
Tumblr media
A/N: it's here. Part 2 to a oneshot written quite some time ago, requested by @madeofunicorns111813 - sorry it took so long - I also took some liberties with the request, hope it's not too bad either way!
Part 1:
Part 2:
As you slowly open your eyes again, waking from your nap, it's pitch black outside - only a small lantern on the porch spending some light, that illuminates a few more bottles of whiskey and cans of beer standing around the porch swing, mainly where Jesse had sat earlier.
The amount of them made you shake your head in amusement - he must be drunk as balls by now, if he hasn't passed out somewhere else yet.
Now there was no sign of him, not the gentle feeling of his arms around you, no indication where he might be gone - only his scent faintly lingering in the air.
You stretch and sit up straight, taking a deep, content breath.
You check your wristwatch and let out an impressed whistle - you'd slept on that old, only mildly comfortable porch swing from what must've been 10 p.m. to somewhere around two in the morning.
You hear the front door open, Jesse's heavy steps a little uneven as he saunter back over to the porch swing, barely acknowledging you.
In his hand he has a glass of water, sighing deeply before downing it in one go. You fondly watch as he spills just a bit of water, that drips down his beard and stains his shirt.
He sets down the glass and sighs once more, staring of into the vast emptiness of the seemingly never ending fields.
"I reckon, and please take my word on this one - it might just be bedtime for the two of us.", you chuckle as you watch him clumsily trying to get up, setting you swinging ever so slightly.
"You ain't the boss o' me-", he says, a few hiccups interrupting him as he stumbles his way forward.
You roll your eyes and get up as well, offering to be his arm rest and crutch, but instead of throwing an arm over your shoulder he wraps you up in a big hug.
"I'm really glad to be back here-", he slurs, headbutting into your neck with a little more force than he meant to.
You pat his back, letting out another chuckle.
"I know man, I know. You've mentioned it a couple of times.", you calmly state, not too surprised by his emotional outburst - even way back when you were younger he had the habit of getting sappy when he let his guard down - either with the help of alcohol or not.
"Nah, you ain't hearing me Darlin'...", He mumbles against your neck, his beard tickling you, before lazily lifting his head to look into your face.
His right hand finds its way to gently cup your cheek and you feel your face grow a little warmer, as you realize how close he is to you. Granted, you were a little surprised and conflicted about whether it's just the alcohol getting the best of both of you.
But god damn it, if his face didn't look stupidly handsome in the low light of the lantern, making his eyes sparkle as he looks at you with such fondness.
"God, I love you so much…", He says, his voice low as his thumb strokes your cheek.
You swallow harshly, trying to avert your eyes away from him - though you had not completely slept the whiskey from your mind yet, you didn't want to get caught up in something that Jesse might not even mean.
But there was just something so captivating about the way he was looking at you - something you had longed for for almost three decades.
"Y'know, back when we were kids my Ma would tease me 'bout how much I talked about you…", he chuckles as he slurs on "And I'd always tell 'er that she got it all wrong. (Y/N) ain't nothing but a friend, he's just real cool, just my ride or die guy for when times get tough."
A corner of your mouth twitches up into a slight smile at the mention of Jesse's Mother - she was a really sweet lady, always had apple pie ready when you and Jesse came back from a days adventure.
It wasn't until she remarried back when Jesse was 17 that all went downhill.
"But I think she knew I was lyin'. Could see it in her eyes. I bet right now she's looking down at me from the heavens thinking to herself 'told ya so, boy.'", Jesse sighs, pulling you a little closer.
"For the longest time I thought I'd marry you. At some point I would've asked you out, real sweet, had it all planned.", as he keeps talking, you swear his voice is getting weaker and his eyes are getting watery - though you wouldn't bet on it.
You gently stroke his back as he keeps talking.
"I wanted to- I wanted to take you out to sit on that ol' abandoned truck at the very back of my Ma's farm. We would've sat down on the back, under that really ugly lookin' cherry tree. There- there was a meteor shower that night.", His eyes slowly drift away from you as he keeps talking, his hand finding its way down your arm, hesitantly lingering at your fingers.
"I had my whole life figured out - I'd tell you, and you'd tell me that you'd always liked me too, and we'd've kissed under the moonlight and all that. We'd've-", he chuckles slightly "We would've finished school, and gone to prom, and then we'd have gotten jobs and get married…"
He lets out a shaky breath.
"I wanted to- I wanted to have a big, sweet wedding on your Mommas' farm, and then we'd've settled down a little further out - but not too far away from our families. So that when we would have had children they could always celebrate their birthdays with their grandparents an' aunts an' uncles an' cousins."
You sigh and intertwine your fingers with his, bringing the hand that had previously stroked his back to his cheek.
You tenderly wipe a tear away with your thumb, guiding his head back to look at you again.
"I'm- I couldn't. I couldn't tell you. Thought you'd say no... I was too much of a coward. And then- the whole thing with my stepdad happened...Ma told me she was remarrying and I just- I just left- and left you, and her, and he got her and hurt her and I didn't even- I didn't even say goodbye to her I-", he chokes up, lowering his head, his eyes closed as he sobs just the slightest bit.
Unsure of what else to do, you squeeze his hand and wipe some stray hair from his face, encouraging him to look at you again.
He carefully opens his eyes, glancing into yours.
"And yesterday, when I came back you just...you welcomed me with open arms and just- you- I don't deserve you. I don't deserve any of your hospitality and all that…I've- Darlin', I'm the absolute worst.", Tears keeps spilling from his eyes as he rambles on.
You let go of his hand just to wrap your arm around his waist and pull him closer.
"I'm gonna have to disagree with that statement, cowboy.", you smile slightly as his expression changed from sad to slightly confused as you glance at his lips for a short moment, before looking back into his eyes.
His gaze flickers from your own lips, to your eyes and then back to your lips.
And as you pull him closer and closer, until your lips meet for a gentle kiss it feels as though time has stopped in its tracks.
His are slightly chapped, taste like all kinds of alcohol and he still reeks of smoke, but right now you couldn't care less as you close your eyes and melt into the kiss.
You can feel Jesse's shoulders relax as his hands roam around your back and up and down your arms.
And when you part he looks just a little more baffled than before. Though there's also a love struck glaze over his eyes.
"Sweetheart, I- I don't think I understand.", He says, almost breathless, a big, dumb grin on his face.
"And I thought that would get my point across just fine.", you giggle, pressing another soft kiss to his cheek.
"After all this time, I don't think there's a single thing in this world that could make me not love you, Jesse.", you confess.
Jesse's eyes widen and he practically tackles you with another kiss. You don't care about the bottles and cans you knock over with your feet as he makes the two of you stumble back on the porch, back down on the swing.
And it doesn't even bother you when the lantern loses its light - if you were afraid of the dark before, right in this moment it simply didn't matter.
Jesse had you encased in his arms, and by what you could tell, you wouldn't ever have to worry about being alone again.

Dinner Date
Dean sighed loudly. This was the fifth shirt he had tried on. He ran his hand through his still damp hair fresh from the shower, frowning at the mirror. He had about 15 minutes left, it’s time to make up his mind.
Fuck this.
He quickly tossed the grey shirt on the bed (keeping the dark jeans pants on) and grabbed the dark green button up next to it.
“At least if the pasta sauce spilled on this shirt, it wouldn't stain too much,” Dean whispered to himself, hastily buttoning up the shirt. He looked into the mirror, assessing his appearance. The shirt seemed to be complimenting his eyes, making the green pop up more. He ran his hand again through his hair, styling it to his liking. He wore his favorite boot that he had cleaned and polish that afternoon, and headed back to the kitchen.
The smell of cooked sauce greeted him as he walked into the bunker kitchen. He wrapped the apron around that he had left on the chair and checked on the pasta sauce, tasting it again. Satisfied, he let the sauce simmer slowly, giving it a stir.
10 minutes left.
He popped upon the wine bottle, pouring them into the fancy wine glasses he fetched from the cabinet. He sipped a little bit, enjoying the taste.
6 minutes left.
He sat on the chair, finally resting after lighting the candles and adjusting the flowers. His mind drifted into his conversation with Cas yesterday.
“Dinner with me tomorrow?” Dean asked while unwinding with Cas, drinking beer at the kitchen. He has been thinking about the idea all week and decided to ask that night.
Cas slowly turned his head towards Dean, eyes frowning.
“We already eat dinner every night together Dean,” Cas said, confused.
“I mean, like a date, me and you, some steak and wine, we can dress casually, nothing too fancy, maybe we can have it right here at the kitchen, whatddaya say Cas?” Dean blurted quickly before losing his nerve. He silently waited for Cas's reply.
“Of course,” Cas said with a smile.
For starters he scrapped the steak plan quickly when he realized he'd been staring at the meat option at the supermarket for far too long. He decided to cook spaghetti instead cause he may or may not have been thinking about the dinner scene from Lady and The Tramp and nope, he definitely didn’t think of recreating the scene at all.
He quickly explained his plan to Sam who happily left that morning to stay at Eileen’s, but not before winking and making sarcastic remarks (don’t forget to pull the chair out for him, Sam shouted at the door). Dean just shoved him out, making threats to fill his shampoo with Nair.
He asked Cas to stay in his room, only to enter the kitchen at 9 pm. He gave an excuse saying it was a surprise but the truth is he actually was too nervous to function if Cas was staring at him the whole time.
4 minutes left.
It’s unconventional, having a date after confessing their love for each other. Usually it’s the other way around but nothing about their life is conventional. Their story almost ended like some sort of tragic Greek Mythology, involving an angel getting sucked into The Empty after telling I love you to a human. Dean was glad he got  to rescue Cas and finally got to reciprocate back his love. After that, things were surprisingly normal. The only thing changed was Cas is human now and they’ve kissed one another numerous times.  The fact all of these happened just a week ago is so surreal.
And now he's going to have dinner date with a former angel.
3 minutes left.
He began scooping a hefty amount of pasta on both plates, careful not to drop any on his shirt. He wiped the side of the plates, making sure it was nice and perfect.
1 minute left.
Dean is panicking. What if the pasta is not up to Cas’s taste?  What if Cas thought his shirt was too ugly? These things were trivial before when he was an angel, but now he’s human, would this change? What’s gonna happen after dinner? Would they finally be going to do it? He didn’t want to force anything, they have all the time in the world. The sex could wait. The dinner was all about spending alone time with Cas, finally really talking about their feelings, something they didn’t have time to do yet.
But still the thought of Cas on the bed with him makes his heart skipped a beat
He sipped his wine again.
The clock struck 9.
Cas appeared right on time, looking handsome as always while wearing a white button up  t-shirt and dark blue jeans. His blue eyes seemed to sparkle as he smiled while looking at Dean. Dean felt his heart was beating so fast it might have jumped out from his chest.
Dean walked slowly to Cas, meeting him in the middle.
“Hello Dean,” Cas said.
“Good evening Cas. Glad you could make it,” Dean replied, putting on his most charming smile. He did pull out the chair for Cas, he’s a gentleman after all.
The dinner was a success. Cas loved the pasta and he also complimented Dean's shirt. They spent the entire evening talking and laughing, the red wine surely helped them loosen up. After cleaning the dishes, Cas held Dean’s hand and together they walked back to Dean’s room, slowly closing the door.

More than this
Harry Potter x reader
Part two of Walking in the wind
Words: 4100
Warnings: mentions of alcohol
after the song: More than this by One Direction
A/N: i spent the whole day crying to 1D videos yesterday. Maybe i should’ve posted this on the 23rd, but honestly I kinda forgot this one... Also if you want to rant about 1D to me, please do because i could talk about them the whole day
-------------------------------------
You were finally settled in your new apartment. It was not big, but it was your own. You had decorated it after your own taste. It was all yours. No one to share it with.
It had been a month since Harry had broken up with you and you were doing better. You had your life back on track, or so you heard Hermione say to Ron a week ago.
‘Yeah, she is doing better,’ Hermione said. ‘She is looking for her own apartment.’
‘That's nice,’ Ron said, taking a sip of his beer.
You were on the other side of the bar, hidden behind a group of girls, who were giggling loudly. You were out with a group of friends. They were dancing on the other side of the space. Ron and Hermione had separated from the group and walked to the bar. You could not help but follow; you thought they would be talking about you and Harry.
And you hadn't been wrong. The moment you had hid behind the loud girls you heard your name fall from Ron's lips.
Now you were anxiously waiting to hear Harry's name. You hadn't talked to him since that day in the rain. That day that was still freshly painted in your memories, like it was just yesterday.
Ron opened his mouth, but before you could hear what he was saying someone bumped into you, spilling their drink at your feet. You jumped away in shock almost losing your own drink and looked at the person responsible for the wasted alcohol.
It was a handsome man about your own age. He had dark hair and bright eyes, blue as a summer sky. On his lips played an apologetic smile and you had already forgiven him before he had even said anything.
‘I'm sorry! I wasn't looking at where I was going, my friend was still talking to me and though it wasn't about anything important I listened to it and then I was distracted and bumped into you and now the whole floor is wet...’
The man spoke fast and he stumbled over his words. You chuckled softly and smiled at him.
‘It's alright,’ you said, interrupting his talk.
‘I was rambling, wasn't I?’ the pretty stranger asked, looking a bit awkward.
‘You were,’ you said with a smile.
There was something about this man that felt familiar and comfortable. You tried not to be distracted by his gorgeous eyes, but it was difficult.
‘I'm Matt,’ he said and gave you his hand. ‘I'm not drunk, just clumsy,’ he added and you smiled.
‘Hi Matt, I'm y/n. I might be a little drunk.’
You were searching for your coat, but you could not find it anywhere. Running around your apartment you looked at every possible place it could  be, but it wasn't there. You were running late and you hated the feeling. It wasn't you to be late. You were always on time. Always.
Would it be at the first date after the break-up that you were not?
You gave up on searching for the coat and grabbed your keys. The door slam shut behind you and you flinched at the loud sound. In a hurry you ran down the stairs, almost tripping over your own feet.
- -- -
Harry was walking down the street while nodding along to the music on his head phones. He was feeling good today. The nice weather only added to his mood. He even wanted to say hello to the people he came across in the street.
The beat of the music changed and Harry moved his steps along. His feet aligned perfectly with the heavy bass of the song.
Something about the scene reminded Harry of you. Maybe it was the song, maybe the sun or maybe just the happy mood. But as Harry was walking in the city to his home, he thought of you.
Ever since that day in the rain Harry had not tried to find contact with you again. You had made it very clear that you didn't want to be friends with him anymore. Harry had never known that you had still loved him so much. He thought that it had been obvious you weren't working together.
But if you did not want to see Harry then that was fine. He was fine without you. Breaking up had been a good thing.
That was the thought in Harry's head the second before he saw you.
You were sitting on a terrace on the corner of the street, laughing at the person in front of you. Harry's feet stopped. He examined the person; it was a man and by the way you were laughing Harry realised it was a date.
You were on a date. A date with someone else.
Harry's heartbeat plummeted in his chest. What was this sickening feeling he felt in his stomach? What was that aching sting in his chest?
It was not because he was jealous of you. It could not be. Harry broke up with you. You were not together anymore and you had every right to date someone else. But then why did it hurt so much to watch?
Harry knew that eventually you and him would date other people, but he never thought that it would be this fast. You had only broken up a month ago. It was a month since Harry had seen you in the rain and you told him that you had never stopped loving him.
Quickly, Harry turned on his heels and walked away. The happy, joyous mood that he had had just mere minutes ago, was gone completely. Instead of the blue sky with the happy sun, there were now grey clouds and heavy thunder. The music got a different feel to it when Harry turned it up, as if to blur out his emotions.
‘You can't really like this music!’ you cried out as you sat down next to Harry on the couch.
He had been blasting his music through the stereo on highest volume. The bass bounced through the air and made the photo frames shake on their shelves.
‘Why not?’ Harry asked and he turned down the volume to talk to you.
‘Because it's so loud!’ you said. ‘It's not good for your ears, you know?’
You lifted your finger to Harry's ear and pressed it lightly. Harry laughed and changed to music to a more soft song. He got up from the couch and pulled you in his arms. You wrapped your arms around Harry's neck as his hands found their way to your waist.
‘I like this better,’ you said and rested your head on Harry's chest.
You both stayed silent as you swayed on the music. Harry's strong arms were folded around you waist and you listened to his heartbeat, that was synchronised to the music. He pressed a light kiss on the top of your head and rested his chin on the same spot.
Even long after the music was done playing, you stayed in each other's arms. Too comfortable to notice the silence around you.
- -- -
‘I had a really great time,’ Matt said at your front door.
One hand was already on the door handle ready to open your door and leave Matt outside. You had forgotten how to date; you and Harry had been friends before you started dating so there had never been those awkward first dates.
Harry knocked on your door and as you opened it you were faced with a big bouquet of flowers in every colour of the rainbow. The mob of black hair was somewhere behind it.
He cleared his throat and lowered the bouquet to reveal a bit of his face. ‘Ron said I should bring flowers and this were the only ones left,’ Harry said.
‘Are you sure you didn't rob the florist?’ you joked and took the flowers from him.
‘Ha ha, very funny. Are you ready?’
Were these those nerves everyone kept talking about? You felt nothing. Yes, the slight butterflies you always had around Harry, but you were comfortable with him and you knew there was nothing to be nervous for.
Harry draped an arm over you as you walked to the restaurant. The butterflies increased, but there were still no nerves.
‘Are you nervous?’ you asked Harry.
‘No,’ he answered and looked at you. ‘I'm excited. Why, are you nervous?’
‘I'm not. But everyone always talks about “the awkward first date" and the nerves. Is it normal that we don't have them?’
‘Maybe you're not nervous if you are with the right person.’
Someone waved their hand in front of your face and the memory faded.
Right, you were not alone yet. Matt was still there.
‘I'm sorry, I didn't sleep much last night. The Simpsons-marathon got the best of me,’ you said and Matt did not smile.
Your smile faltered as you were reminded that this was not Harry. Matt, according by the look on his face, did not like the Simpsons. You and Harry did; it was your go-to show when you couldn't sleep.
‘Alright, maybe I should catch up on some sleep,’ you said as an excuse to leave him alone. ‘I had fun, Matt. We should do it again!’
With that and a fake smile you stepped into your apartment, leaving your date alone outside.
- -- -
As soon as Harry got home he fell on his couch. He stayed there, face on the leather and hands along his body. He wasn’t jealous. He was not. It was just that seeing you with someone else was not something he was prepared for. He never imagined that you would get over him so fast.
Harry got up from the couch and stumbled to the kitchen. Without even looking around he headed straight for the liquor cabinet. He had to forget you. You were over him and he had to get over you, something he had apparently not done yet.
With every glass his sight got foggier and his head started to get heavy. But the memories of you stayed in his mind. They even seemed to get more.
You lied on the bed with your hair as a halo around you. Your arms were up in the air as if you tried to catch something. There was a sweet smile on your face and you giggled at nothing.
Harry stood in the doorway and was watching you. He had a grin on his face. You had way too much to drink at Hermione’s and Pansy’s party. But Harry loved you when you were drunk. You got all clingy and giggly and it was adorable to look at.
‘Can we get a sheep?’ you asked suddenly, with your hands still in the air.
Harry walked further into the room and he took your hands. You looked at him. Your lips were pink and there was a blush on your cheeks. Harry wanted to kiss you so bad right now.
‘Why do you want a sheep?’ he asked and he sat down next to you, pushing your arms down.
‘They’re so fluffy and sweet! And we can make out own sweaters!’ you exclaimed and turned to your side, so you were facing Harry’s knee. With your finger you started to trace figures on his legs.
‘We’ll talk about it in the morning,’ Harry chuckled and he brushed the air out of your face.
You turned your head to him and stared at him with big eyes.
‘What’s wrong?’ Harry asked and he brought his hand to his face.
‘You’re so pretty,’ you sighed and you took Harry’s hand. ‘I want to kiss you.’
‘Then do.’
You got up from lying down and sat on your knees. Right before your lips touched Harry’s you stopped and blinked. You placed your index finger on his lips and leaned back.
‘I have a boyfriend,’ you said resolute. ‘I can’t kiss you.’
Harry burst out in laughter and shook his head. ‘Babe, I am your boyfriend. You can kiss me.’
You raised your eyebrow at Harry and examined his face. Then, all of the sudden you placed your lips on his mouth, making Harry stop laughing and melting under your touch.
He hated you.
No, he hated how he still loved you. How you were still in his mind when he had thought that you weren’t.
He hated that every single thing around him reminded him of you. The bookcase that you had hit your head on and you then had to be taken to the ER. The couch that you used to sleep on when Harry was working late. The TV that you had bought for his birthday. The mugs in the kitchen cabinets that you had bought and that Harry had thought were so ugly.
Every single thing in the apartment had shared history.
Harry had to get out. He wanted to get out of this place.
He downed his last glass and walked out of the apartment, already knowing where he was going to.
- -- -
‘I brought coffee,’ you said and held up two carton cups.
Harry smiled thankfully at you and took one cup. The coffee warmed up his fingers that had turned cold from the wind. He had been waiting for you for twenty minutes and he had been afraid you were not going to show up.
‘What do you want to talk to me about?’ you asked as you sat down next to Harry.
Harry cleared his throat and stared at his feet, that were playing with the snow under them. He had been wanting to ask you this for a while, but he had never had the courage. So when Ron and Hermione had made it clear to him that the feeling was mutual, Harry had stepped up and asked you to meet him.
‘I want to ask you something,’ Harry said and he looked up to you.
‘And you could not do this over the phone?’ you remarked with a slight chuckle. Harry stayed silent and you took his hand to encourage him to speak. ‘What’s the matter?’
‘Wouldyougooutwithme?’ Harry spoke fast and incomprehensible.
‘Slower please.’
‘Would you go out with me?’ Harry asked after a deep breath.
‘Like a date?’
‘Yes, I mean if you want that. You don’t have to! I was just wondering and I-’
Harry was cut off by your lips on his. He shocked but after a second he kissed you back. His cold hands found their way to your cheeks and he cupped your face.
Your hot breaths formed little clouds in the air as you broke apart. Harry had a stupid grin on his face and you were smiling at him.
‘I would love to go out with you, Harry.’
- -- -
The TV was on, but you weren’t watching. Your phone was in your hand but you were not paying attention. You were thinking of Matt.
His face was flying around in your head, but it was unclear. His features were blurred and his eyes far away. You had had fun with Matt, you really had, but there was something missing. There was someone missing.
You scolded yourself for thinking such a thing. You reminded yourself of what had happened.
Your eyes shifted to the TV-screen and you watched the bright colours of the commercials. Laundry detergent, car, yoghurt, another car, clothes, insurance company, toothpaste, another car.
You did not even register the information thrown at you. For you it were all just colours. You sunk further into the couch and rested your head on the backrest, your eyes staring at the ceiling.
A knock on your door woke your from your trance. It was midnight, who could that be?
In your sweater and pyjama shorts, on your woollen sock you stumbled to your door, expecting a neighbour who must be at the wrong door. So when you opened the door and you saw Harry you were surprised. What was he doing here?
Harry was staring at his feet and he said nothing. The penetrating scent of alcohol reached your nose. The scene reminded you of your past history with him.
He was definitely drunk. He swayed on his feet as he stood in the middle of your living room. He looked around and his eyes rested on the picture of you and him you had standing in your bookcase.
You were standing in front of him, watching him put his hands in his pockets, not saying a single word. You waited for him to start speaking, but he kept his mouth shut. Minutes passed by and nothing happened. Harry looked at you, but he didn’t look you in the eye.
‘Honey, what’s wrong?’ you finally asked, done waiting. ‘I thought you were out with the guys?’
Your words seemed to pull Harry from his trance. He finally looked you in the eye and he formed a little smile on his lips.
‘I was, but something got in the way.’
‘Is everything alright?’ you asked worried, not knowing why Harry was looking at you with a smile.
‘Yes, everything’s more than alright.’ Harry kept standing with his hands in his pockets and that smug smile on his face. You grew annoyed. You knew Harry wasn’t that drunk; he had not started calling you princess or doll, something he only did when he was drunk. But he wasn’t completely sober either. His cheeks were slight red and he was not standing very stable.
‘Harry, what is going on?’ you asked irritated. ‘Why are you here?’
‘I love you.’
It was the first time he had said those words. He was the first of you to say it. You knew you loved Harry, but you were afraid what would happen if you would say it and he did not think the same.
But now Harry had said the words. He was staring at you with the same smile, but you saw the worry growing on his face as you took your time to answer.
‘I love you too,’ you said after a silence and Harry sighed relieved.
‘I know we haven’t been together very long yet, but I have known you for so long and I know that I love you and that-’
You broke him off by kissing him. ‘I told you I loved you, why are you making excuses?’ you remarked with a grin on your face.
‘I’m a bit drunk. Say it again.’
This was the same scene, yet a different sphere.
‘I saw you today, with that guy,’ Harry started, head turned to face the floor. ‘You shouldn’t be with him. It’s not right. You should be with me. I know I broke up with you, but I never should’ve. I never stopped loving you. The idea of you in his arms kills me. I can’t think of him lying down next to you at night. I can’t love you more than this, doll.’
You stared at Harry. One part of you wanted to shut the door in his face, the other part wanted to hold him in your arms. But you did neither of those things. You stepped aside and let Harry in.
He stood still in the living room and you were reminded so much of that night he told you he loved you. Which he just did, in a completely different way.
‘Harry, what do you mean?’ you asked, your fingers playing with the blanket on the backrest of the couch.
‘Take me back,’ Harry said. ‘Let me hold you in my arms and stay there. Let me be there when you fall asleep at night. Let me be there when you realise that we are perfect together.’
Your fingers stopped playing with the blanket and you took a step closer to him. You looked at his face and saw the tears in his green eyes. But his breath reminded you of his state. The moment he had called you doll, you had realised that he was drunk. You should’ve known it the moment he had stepped to your door, but some selfish part of you thought that he was really there because he loved you.
‘Harry, you’re drunk,’ you said and grabbed his arm. ‘You said it yourself, we weren’t working. We are better apart.’
Your own words broke your heart. You still loved Harry, you had never stopped loving him, not even when he broke your heart, not when he hurt you again on that day in the rain.
And of course you wanted to be with him, but you didn’t want to hear those words when he was drunk. You could not be with someone who only realised he loved you when you weren’t his anymore.
‘No, we’re not,’ Harry rasped. ‘You shouldn’t be with him, princess. He is not right for you. When he opens his arms and holds you close at night, it just won’t feel right. Because you belong with me. I can’t love you more than this, doll.’
Your heart stung at the words. They were sweet but they broke you. They were everything you, deep down, wanted to hear, but they hurt you now.
‘No, Harry. You told me we were not working anymore. You are the one who said we could “stay friends”. You are the one that broke my heart because you did not want to work on the relationship. We are done, Harry.’
Tears were running down your cheeks, but you looked at Harry. You saw that your words had reached him, despite his drunk state. He stared at you in disbelief and then collapsed on the couch.
‘Harry!’ you cried out and dropped on your knees next to him. He had his eyes closed and his breathing was telling you he had fallen asleep. With the tears still coming down, you draped the blanket over Harry, turned off the TV and walked to your bedroom.
- -- -
Harry was woken by the sunlight that was coming through the blinds. He felt an unfamiliar couch underneath his body and when he looked up he did not recognise the space he was in. What had happened last night? All he remembered was that he had seen you with a guy and that he had gone home and drowned himself in alcohol.
But the rest of the night was black and when he tried to think of how he got wherever he was right now, all he felt was an aching sting in his chest.
Harry sat up straight and looked around the room he was in better. He had never been here, he knew that for sure. Yet, there was something about this room that felt familiar and welcome. It reminded him of his own home, before you left. Could it be that…?
Harry’s thought were interrupted by a sound from the room behind the closed door. He opened the door softly and his heart skipped a beat when he saw who was in the bed.
You.
Had he, in his drunkenness, gone to your apartment? What had he done? Had he hurt you, had he done something embarrassing? Or worse, had he told you he still loved you?
Because when he was watching you right now, he realised that he did still love you. But he also felt that sting in his heart as he looked at you.
‘Harry,’ you said. You had sat up in your bed and were watching Harry with a look he could not place. Was it hurt?
‘I’m sorry for whatever I did last night. I was drunk. What I said was not true,’ Harry quickly said.
Your face fell and you turned your eyes to your hands. ‘Oh,’ you mumbled.
‘What did I say?’ Harry asked.
‘You told me you saw me with a guy and that you still loved me,’ you said with a sniff.
‘Oh,’ was all Harry could bring out.
Were you sad because Harry told you he loved you? Or were you sad because he denied it was true?
‘Do you still love me?’ you asked and you looked up to Harry.
There was a tear rolling down your cheek. Harry hurried over to you and sat in front of you. His hands took yours and he tried so hard to look you in the eyes, but he just couldn’t.
‘I do.’
His voice was low and his words were more whispered than said. But you heard them. Your hands began to tremble in Harry’s and that was when he looked up to you.
‘I do, too,’ you whispered back.
‘I’m sorry for everything I have said. I should not have broken up with you. I was afraid to fight, I was afraid to work on it. But now, I want to work on it. Because I can’t love you more than this.’

ocean eyes – chris evans
Tumblr media
previous part: PART XIII — masterlist
concept: a celebratory trip to the hamptons results in an altercation the first night you're there. the slowest of slow burns. part fourteen of many.
pairing: chris evans x reader // chris evans x respect women juice
word count: 2,8k
warnings: tw:sexual harrassment (drunken creeps are creepy), homophobic slurs (they're also assholes), angst
author's note: this one goes out to @fangirlovestuff as promised :) the next part will be coming shortly! we on some double upload weirdness, to make up for my disappearance basically the whole of yesterday
"Um, no... Really, I couldn't."
Lily pouted. Even when she pouted, she was beautiful. "Why not?"
"I don't want to intrude, really, you guys go and have fun. It's the Hamptons after all."
"But everyone's coming! Please?"
"I don't know..."
"For Chris? Would you do it for Chris?"
You cast a tentative glance to the man in question, currently in the midst of a tug-of-war with Dodger, barely paying your conversation any attention. If only they knew you'd do anything for Chris. "He is the worst bargaining chip you could've ever even thought of using."
"How about for me?" She jokingly batted her long, long lashes, an enchanting smile gracing her lips. "I won't take no for an answer, and Sebastian will be there."
"Sebastian?" You rolled your eyes at the suggestive arch of her brows. They were under the impression you and Sebastian were involved, somehow. You picked subconsciously at the scars on the palm of your hand, entirely healed and almost faded into nothing now.
"It would mean so much to us. You're such a big part of Chris' life, one of his best friends, and–"
"Alright!" You snapped. Quickly masking your irritation with a laugh, you repeated yourself, softer this time. "Alright, I'll come."
She clapped happily, giving no indication of having been taken aback or even mildly offended at you having practically yelled at her. Guilt pitted yourself in your stomach. You wanted to dislike her, but not only was she exceptionally beautiful, she was also incredibly nice. Beyond nice. Serial killers weren't even that nice. And it wasn't her fault that she was basically Jesus trapped in the body of a supermodel, and it wasn't her fault for Chris loving her – because honestly, it wasn't hard loving her – it was just that it was so fucking difficult at times when people kept calling you his friend. Chris' friend.
It would be so much easier to hate someone deserving of it, but you just couldn't. Because both of them were so beautiful and... nice.
Perfectly matched in every way you and Chris were not.
So you decided to go to the Hamptons beach house because why not?
What's the worse that could happen?
———————
This was the worse that could happen.
You had arrived at beach house Anthony had rented a little later that day, when the sun was making it's slow decent to kiss the horizon.
And the frenzy to all get ready to go out was nothing short of chaotic.
You were tired from the plane, and irritated from having been sat – with little to no form of escape – in the same row as Chris and Lily. It wasn't necessarily a long flight, but a second felt like hours when you put yourself through that kind of agony.
But you'd made up your mind after the gala to get over this little crush on Chris. Nothing good was going to come of it, and you tried to spare yourself further heartache and broken glass.
Easier said than done.
Anthony and Sebastian did not mirror your mood. On the contrary, they were still riding the high of finally wrapping the filming on Falcon and The Winter Soldier, and this was their celebration weekend. And they were going all out for it.
The house was lavish, no expense spared. And when you'd arrived, Anthony had opened his suitcase right in the kitchen, and began stocking the fridge with the champagne he'd packed in there, cushioned by his clothes.
You had briefly wondered why he had brought such a large suitcase for such a short trip, but as you watched the fifth bottle disappear into the icebox, your questions were answered.
"Why the long face?"
Anthony didn't even have to look at you to know you were standing there, bags having been dropped off in your room before joining him.
"Do I really have to come out tonight?" You whined. You hated how bratty you sounded, but you would much rather stay in the house alone for the night than go out with Chrily. You knew Sebastian and Anthony would be there too – Scarlett was also supposed to come, but she had other duties to attend to, being a mother – but you knew no matter how great they were at making you feel better, you would spend most of the night moody and brooding. And you didn't want to ruin their night with your personal issues.
You were being selfless for selfish reasons.
"Is that even a question?" Anthony was mid-stock with the final bottle of champagne when he looked at you. The inside of the fridge looked like a Moët & Chandon ad, with Anthony Mackie as the ambassador. "You're coming out if it kills me."
"But why?" You groaned.
"Because everything is more fun with you there, and besides... It wouldn't feel like a celebration without our best girl."
"Fine. I'll come," you rolled your eyes, turning to head out. "Need to shower first."
And then you heard the champagne bottle shake, the cork popping and suddenly, you were drenched in a spray of Moët. Over the sound of frothing bubbles, Anthony called out to you. "No need!"
And that was why – despite scrubbing your skin almost raw and lathering your hair to the point of chemical burn – you sat there, on the barstool, smelling faintly like expensive alcohol.
"I hate you," you muttered under your breath to Anthony as you and him had taken it upon yourselves to get the next round of drinks for the table.
He chuckled, struggling to grab a bartender's attention. "No, you don't."
"You're right, I don't. I'll always love you. But that doesn't mean I have to like you right now."
"Love me, huh?" Anthony arched a brow. "Now, was that so hard to say?"
"What?"
"It's not me you should be saying that to. You know that."
You knew what he meant, and a heavy sigh vacated your lungs. "You know it's not the same. You're family. With him... It's different."
"I think this is the first time you've ever admitted it out loud."
And it dawned on you that he was right. You had never let yourself properly admit it, even inwardly. The words had maybe flowed from the tip of your pen onto the pale pages of your journal – the only catharsis you found lately – but you never read those entries back, abandoning them to be lost in a sea of random thoughts, forgotten.
It didn't give you a sense of relief, saying the words. Not even slightly. If anything, they filled you up with dread.
"Don't," you rolled your eyes. "I'm over it. Or at least I'm getting there."
"Hey," he shrugged in placation. "Relax. It's not my confession to make."
Being an ex-cocktail waitress had its perks as you made your way back to the table, slipping easily past people with the tray of shots you had retrieved. You were speedy and efficient, even in your heels.
Anthony, on the other hand...
Beer bottles slotted between each finger, he was having much more difficulty getting by. And once you'd set the shots down at the table, not a drop spilled, Anthony's shirt was spattered with beer, hands slick with it.
As you plopped into the seat beside Sebastian, making him shift over in the booth to make more room for Anthony, he gave you a strained smile.
"I don't know how the fuck you put up with them," Seb whispered to you. "They're so lovey-dovey, it's unbearable."
"Just grin and bear it," you whispered back.
"What are you two giggling about over there?" Chris grinned from across the booth. It wasn't a very convincing grin, but you didn't dwell on it. No more allowing Christopher Robert Evans to occupy your mind.
"Just how Mackie would make a terrible waiter," you shrugged, sending the man in question a quick cheeky smirk.
"Oh, haha, very funny," he flicked some beer at you from his soaked fingertips. "I'd make a fabulous waitress and you know that."
You shied away from the alcohol droplets, laughing. "No! Not again!"
Chris took in his appearance. "Jesus, Ant. Is there even any beer left for us? Or are you wearing it all?"
"Wow, you're all hilarious," he rolled his eyes, finally dropping into the booth. "I didn't know I was out with a bunch of comedians tonight. Did I walk onto a sitcom set? Is this a sketch? Whose turn is it next? Seb? Lily?"
You all took turns making jokes and taking jibes at Anthony's lacklustre bottle service, which was only put to rest once the Falcon actor huffed and proclaimed that "you could all go get your own damned drinks."
As the night wore on, you found yourself gravitating towards the dancefloor. Honestly, you just couldn't be in the booth anymore. You knew getting over him was going to be a slow process, but some part of you had hoped that it would be an immediate and simple thing: just falling out of your pathetic little crush.
But it really wasn't, and so you were on the dancefloor. Regrettably alone. Chris and Lily were still in the booth, and the other couple – Anthony and Seb – were absolutely enthralled by a vintage pinball machine lurking in the back of the bar.
Every now and then, you would hear one whoop for joy as they beat the other's high score, only for the competitive nature of their activity to take over for another redemption round.
As you lost yourself in the music, it wasn't long before you attracted the attention of a drunken creep. You didn't use that term lightly, but this one was truly deserving.
You had felt eyes on you, and immediately found who they belonged to. Just to be polite, you had smiled at him, before continuing your dancing.
And then, taking it as an invitation, he sidled up to you, and clammy hands slithered over your waist, pulling your back to him with a strong, commanding grip. Your stomach lurched, uncomfortable with the fast rising intensity of the situation.
"You look so fuckin' good tonight, baby," he slurred into your ear, swaying on his feet. Alcohol was thick on his breath, and it filled your head with nausea. "Just wanna take you home and fuck you better than anyone ever has..."
You turned around to tell him to fuck off, and that was when that strong slithering grip was in your hair, tugging you to slimy liquored lips in a teeth clashing kiss. Your stomach roiled at the taste, and while he was distracted, you shoved him away from you with as much strength as he could muster.
He stumbled back a few steps, but he had returned to his senses long enough to right himself and soon he was stalking towards you again.
You knew his type. If his clothes and accessories were any indication, he was an arrogant rich kid – the tan telling you he was a Hamptons regular. He was your age, and every bit as entitled as his wealth would suggest.
"Get away from me." It wasn't a request, it was a command.
And he didn't like it. His hand wrapped around your wrist, tugging you to him. You struggled against him, desperately clawing for your freedom. Panic was slowly rising.
"You little bitch," he spat.
"Is there a problem here?"
It was Chris. He had seen the unravelling altercation from the booth, and had promptly come to your aid.
You wondered how long he'd been there for, what he'd overheard. His next words gave you your answer.
"I think the lady said to leave her alone."
The guy didn't even look at him, instead keeping his slabbering gaze on you. "Stay out of this."
Chris wasn't having it. Having eyed up the situation – that whiteknuckled grip on you – Chris clapped a strong – if not a little threatening – hand on the stranger's shoulder. He ripped the guy off of you, and with his other hand, he pulled you behind him protectively.
Your relief, however, was shortlived at the bite of Chris' next suggestion. "Look, buddy, maybe you should take a hint."
"Don't touch me, faggot," he slapped Chris' arm away. "I took the hint. She looked at me, she smiled at me. Look at what she's wearing! She's practically begging to be fucked."
That was the last straw for Chris.
Not only had he made the unforgivable transgression of groping you – and not just you, specifically, but any woman – but this man had crossed the line with the homophobic slur. To do that in front of Chris, being who he was, was tantamount to a death sentence.
And you could feel it as he seethed, fury boiling in his blood.
"You're lookin' at me, now. I'm smilin'." And he was, but it wasn't one you'd ever seen before. It was tight, and it was malicious. "Oh, look at what you're wearin'. Gets me a bit hard, if I'm being honest. Do you like that? Do you like me telling you how hard I'm gonna fuck you with this big cock? No? Then keep your fuckin' hands to yourself and well away from her before I break them."
You knew Chris well enough to know the threat was empty. He was a pacifist – regularly attending lessons in Buddhist teachings when he could. But the other guy didn't know that, and the throb of the muscle in the grit of Chris' jaw was very convincing. So convincing, in fact, you were even a little scared of him in that moment.
The guy tilted his head to address you, trying to make himself seem bigger. "Who even is this joker, your boyfriend?"
"Don't speak to her," Chris snarled. "You're speaking to me now. And as a matter of fact, I am. So fuck off."
What the guy did next shouldn't have been surprising. He was clearly not thinking straight. And if he hadn't done it, Chris effectively calling you his girlfriend might've had more of an impact.
But he took a swing at Chris – and although Chris never started fights, he sure as fuck ended them.
Easily blocking the attack, and in three quick movements, Chris had the other guy's arms locked behind his back. You knew, if he wanted, Chris could pop both of this guy's arms out of their sockets. And if Chris was anyone else, he might have. He was angry enough to do it.
"Let it go," came his scathing whisper.
Of course the other guy struggled. He struggled and yelled out curses, slurs, anything his alcohol addled mind could come up with.
It was enough to draw the attention of the owner of the establishment.
"Oi," she yelled. A severe no-shit type woman had come out of the back room to brace her arms against the bar, fixing you all with a withering look. "The three of you. Out."
The commotion had also been enough to draw the attention of the others, and you were on your way out – still protectively clutched to Chris' side by his musclebound arm – when they'd made it to you.
"What happened?" Seb panted.
"Just some asshole picking a fight," Chris explained, rage still colouring his voice. "Could you guys do me a favour?"
"Sure, man," Anthony said. "Whatever you need."
"I'm going to take {your name} back. Could you tell Lily when she gets out of the bathroom that we got kicked out and I'll be waiting for her at home?"
"If you just wait for her, we can all go home together," Seb suggested, already backing up a little to get his jacket from the booth.
Chris shook his head. "I need time to cool off. I don't want her seeing me like this."
"I'm really sorry for ruining your night, guys," you said, your voice small.
They were quick to assure you you hadn't. It didn't lessen the guilt, though.
"You guys enjoy," Chris said as you both hovered by the door. "We'll make up for tonight at the beach tomorrow."
———————
"I can fight my own battles."
It was the first words either of you had spoken since you'd gotten back to the house. The drive was done in deafening silence, and you felt compelled to finally break it.
"I know you can," Chris sighed. He hadn't been expecting a thanks, but he'd at least been expecting something more than that admonishment. "Better than anyone. But you shouldn't have to."
"I had it handled."
"My point is, you shouldn't have to handle this shit. No one should."
He had come with you all the way to your bedroom door, and you both stood, divided by the frame.
His brow was furrowed, thinking. And then: "Are you angry with me?"
"No," you smiled sadly.
The double meaning laced with your next words would serve to haunt both of you the remainder of the night.
"I just want you to know that you don't have to fight for me. I'm fine on my own."

Chapter 1, divorce
Harvey thought he knew what heartbreak was, but he was wrong.
Harvey had given every ounce of himself to the farmer, he dropped all his walls down and had been vulnerable, and it had paid off, the famer had asked for his hand in marriage; they were blissfully happy together, but everytime he had asked about children, all she said was "not now, the farm takes up too much time and energy." Harvey understood, but he still asked twice more before letting the matter drop completely, he knew when the time was right, she would ask herself to start their family.
But the time never seemed to come; they were well off, all the community upgrades she had worked for had been completed, she even helped Robin build a house for Pam and Penny, but she never brought up the subject of having a child. Still Harvey was determined to be content in his new life with his wife.
Seasons passed much like they had when he was single, although he made sure to tell the farmer how much happier he was at her farm than his old apartment, she always smiled and kissed him when he did this, and their intimate life was as good as the very first time every time, he had no reason to be unhappy, and he assumed his wife was as happy as he was.
Until one night early into summer.
Harvey was awoken by a soft knock on the farmhouse door, he was startled, all manners of medical emergencies flashing through his mind as he hurriedly put on his robe and glasses and quietly, as not to disturb his sleeping wife, ran to the door.
"Hello?"
"Good morning Doctor Harvey."
It was Mayor Lewis, oh Yoba, what was wrong? Who was hurt? Who could possibly be out this late getting hurt?
"What's the matter, mayor? Is it a medical emergency? Harvey stepped out onto the porch and softly closed the door, "tell me it's not one of the children?"
"Oh no, no emergency Doctor, everyone is healthy as can be" Lewis slipped his thumbs into his suspenders and pulled a bit, " I was just out picking up the shipping items, and well... there's something here for you."
"For me? What could it be?"
Mayor Lewis pulled out a thick creamy envelope with the name 'Dr. Harvey Moore' stamped on it and held it out in front of himself a bit, the moonlight catching on the just-dried ink.
Harvey took the envelope, "what is this?" He inquired, holding the parcel like it was a rehabilitated bird about to fly out his palms; Mayor Lewis shifted his weight from foot to foot, looking everywhere but at him, "well, um, Doctor, I think it's best if you take that on inside and give it a read, that's all I can say."
Harvey looked puzzlingly at the mayor, he knew what was inside the envelope, but wouldn't tell him directly what it was, could he have used too many medical supplies, and the clinic was going into debt?
"Thank you Mayor, I'll read this right away, have a good day." He murmured, turning to go back inside, as he shut the door, he thought he heard the mayor sigh.
Harvey sat down at the kitchen table, the light from the stove bathing the room in a soft orange glow; he carefully opened the envelope with the letter opener and pulled out the thick papers.
There, in big official letters were the words "DECREE OF DIVORCE" Harvey gasped out loud, further down was the Mayors signature, and even further down was the Farmers; Harvey's heart skipped a beat, maybe even two as he traced the familiar handwriting, that was hers all right, it matched the writing on the little notes she would slip in his doctors jacket, or in his lunch; tears slipped down his face as the read the official words, the famer had applied for divorce yesterday, based on the date following her name.
Harvey didn't know what to do now, this was a total shock, he crept back into their room and pulled his duffel bag out of the closet; as quietly as he could, he stuffed all his clothes inside and zipped it shut, he looked at his small room connecting to the bedroom, all his model airplanes and his shortwave radio were set up there, he didn't know how he could get his things without waking up the farmer, and by Yoba, he couldn't bear the thought of her waking up right now. Harvey hastily scribbled a note asking her to box his things up and send them to the clinic, before hastily leaving the farmhouse and letting his tears spill in earnest.
The next two days passed and the divorce was finalized, he stayed exclusively at the clinic, going through the motions of physicals and paperwork; living off coffee, too few hours of sleep, barely eating and crying.
Then one day, as he was at the front desk, Maru had gone to lunch a few minutes before, when the bell above the door tinkled, he looked up and his heart sank, it was the farmer; arms loaded down with boxes and looking like she would rather battle a monster infested mine floor than be there.
The farmer carefully sat the boxes down on the counter, and came around through the doors to stand near him; Harvey moved slightly away and crossed his arms. "I brought your planes and your radio set up," the farmer said quietly, looking at him to meet his eyes "Harvey, I--" Harvey shook his head and held up a hand.
"I, I can't even look at you, please, spare me anymore pain."
The farmer nodded swallowed thickly, "Goodbye Harvey." She said before rushing out the door.
†****************†
The fall dragged on, Harvey kept to himself, settling back into his post-married life routine, although he would occasionally go to the saloon and have a beer, something he knew he shouldn't do, being the only physician in town, but the nights when he lie in bed, and the thoughts of his failed marriage threatened to keep him awake, he went to the saloon for a nightcap.
One rainy night though, he was laying in his bed, when the after hours clinic buzzed, he rushed downstairs to find the farmer holding up a barely conscious Shane, both of them were soaked through. "He needs help," she implored, "he's had so much to drink, I found him by the cliffs, I'm afraid for him."
Harvey rushed to Shane's other side and put his shoulder under his other arm, together they half walked, half dragged Shane into a clinic cot, fully in emergency mode, Harvey barked at the farmer, "You need to wait in the lobby." Before turning and bringing his full attention back to the semi conscious man in front of him.
Later, Harvey went out to the waiting room, to find his ex wife sitting in the chair closest to the door, legs bouncing nervously and her eyes downcast; "I pumped his stomach and gave him fluids, he's in rough shape, but he's going to make it," the farmer sighed and sagged into the chair, looking like a wet, disheveled harvest day balloon, "thank Yoba." She breathed, then she stood to face him, Harvey continued, "I'm more worried about his mental health right now though, it's good that you brought him in when you did, or we would have a far more serious problem on our hands. I'm going to refer him to a therapist friend of mine in the city."
The farmer nodded, " I'm sure that's what he needs, thank you Harvey."
" Can I see him?"
Harvey looked a little dubious, " alright, but just for five minutes, he's going to need to rest, it's late, and he needs to stay overnight to replenish the fluids he's lost"
The farmer walked back to the sectioned off part of the clinic and kneeled down next to the cot, Harvey couldn't help but overhear their quiet conversation.
"Hey there Chicken Boy"
"Hey Farm Girl"
How you feeling?
I've had better days
Harvey says he can get you help, if your willing to take it, that is
I may just take him up on that
You're an asshole
And you still keep me around
I plan too, for a long time
Harvey cleared his throat and stepped around the divider
"It's time to give him some rest now"
The farmer nodded and turned back to Shane, smoothing his hair and dropping a kiss on his forehead before rising to leave; the small tender moment was not lost on Harvey and his heart wrenched, remembering a time when she touched him so sweetly.
†*****************†
Summer gave way to fall, and Harvey was living his life pretty much how he had before his marriage to the farmer, still popping into the saloon every now and then, 'everything was fine' he'd tell himself , and even he started to believe that. Until one night in the saloon.
He had been there nursing a drink when the farmer came in, as he turned around to see who was arriving, the farmer was scanning the faces in the crowd, her face lit up in a grin to see Shane at his usual spot and drinking a sparkling water; she took a step inside before her gaze landed on him, and she blanched, her lovely smile gone, she even took a step back, half turning to leave before steeling her resolve.
Hey Gus, can I have a beer here please?
As he slid the frosty mug to her, she turned and offered it to Harvey.
"I don't want your gift" he said.
"You're going to need it" was all she said before going to Shane, who wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her in for a kiss on the mouth, the farmer giggled and kissed him back; Harvey's hand drifted toward the beer.
"Can I have everyone's attention please?" The farmer shouted over the talking voices and the playing jukebox, when all eyes were on her she looked at Shane and got down on one knee, producing a mermaids pendant from her pocket, Shane turned blushed a deep red, his surprise almost audible, before he said "I accept!"
The whole saloon burst into cheers and everyone converged on the couple, voices overlapping with cheers and congratulations, Harvey downed the beer in a few gulps, turns out she was right, he did need it.
