One series I personally love is Resident Alien. It's about this alien who crash lands on earth and has telepathic/telekinetic abilities. To blend in he poses as the doctor of a small town. The previous doctor died so he takes his identity. Then one day the sheriff comes to him to ask him for help solving a case. He reluctantly obliges and helps to solve the case. He becomes a detective through out the series with plenty of people coming to him for help in solving mysteries. His assistant is a nurse who is half Native American, half Hawaiian. The nurse' father has this ability to see through the alien's telepathic disguise and is implied to have strange powers of his own. (The implication is that the father has powers due to him being native american. It's never explained thoroughly but its implied.) The father winds up becoming friends with the alien and he helps him to find a way to get back home.

It's honestly a very comfy series that's a detective series mixed with slice of life. I know slice of life may sound like a red flag but in this series it's actually done well. I enjoyed reading it and want to get back into reading it to see if there were any updates since I stopped reading it. The writer of the comic takes a very long time to update. Overall, it's a great series I would recommend to anyone.

Other series that I do like and want to get back into reading are Empowered, Spinerette and some web comics.

Ok, I'm getting sad thinking about how much comics suck these days, so let's try this. Tell me about the comics and characters you guys love, past or present. Sperg out all you want. Hello! Random Pokémon fact person here! Firstly, I have never heard of Niron, nor know exactly what a weremon is, but I can definitely give a little fun fact about the Dewpider in my universe!

Many Pokédex entries talk about the outside of its head bubble being made of sturdy silk but did you know their spit is also hydrophobic and can be used when their spinnerets are damaged or unusable? This spit is also used in a lot of products that are advertised as making clothes hydrophobic but (at least from my experience) most stop working when the spit dries. It's sad, but the fact is interesting nonetheless!

How are centaurs classified scientifically? They seem to technically be artiodactyls, but they'd have to be mammals and I can't tell if they're mammals or some other type of synapsid.

Those are all words describing taxonomic groups of animals that evolved on earth. Even though I sometimes compare aliens like centaurs to phylogenetic groups of earth animals, it's not a literal statement. When I say centaurs are mammal-like, what I mean is that they share some physiological traits we associate with mammals: endothermy, vivparity, feeding infant young with specialized glands, parental care, fuzzy, endoskeletal, vertebral spine. But they also have plenty of traits not associated with mammals: feather-like integument, unidirectional respiratory system, a central cognitive brain, a nervous cord the runs ventral to their vertebrae, lack of a post-anal tail, spinerettes, non-Terran biochemistry, etc, etc.

When talking about genuine taxonomical classes for aliens, you have to build an entirely new tree of life, from the bottom up. Centaurs do not even belong to the same domain of life as us. Physiological terms can be used to compare us to them, but like, they're not even eukaryotes.

i love fics where Peter has weird fuckass spider quirks. So,, in honor of him not being able to leave my brain for the past week, here are some headcannons

• He can hear things through vibrations. Not really hear, but make words out of people are talking. Like, if someone is talking into his hair, he’s going to be able to clearly make out what they’re saying.

• He has a strong bond with the other spiders. He’s kind of like a parent to the younger ones; like with Miles! He’s really protective over him, and a lot of time after battles he carries Miles on his back. Sometimes he even web swings like that.

• For every spider person that’s like an older sibling/parental figure for the younger ones, they make comforting motions. They’ll rub the youngest wrists— like an inch under where their web shooters are —and up the rest of the forearm. It’s like a safety gesture :]

• He hates actual spiders. Naturally, irl spiders are territorial, Peter unfortunately discovered that he is indeed the same way. He hates regular spiders, but he can’t bring himself to kill them. He just sets them outside as far away as possible

• Peter is scared of every love interest he has. He thinks it’s just anxiety and he’s nervous around them— which he is —so he ignores it; in reality it is fear. In nature, female spiders will eat the males as a form of rejection, they’ll also eat them after sex; this leads to him having a constant feeling fear in the back of his mind that he doesn’t really acknowledge, it’s a mixture of the fear of rejection and the fear of being cannibalized

• Peter has retractable fangs filled with venom

• He didn’t like Black Widow when he first met her. Did he have a reason? No. His biology was just telling him “hey. she’s a woman, and her names black widow. maybe she’s not chill. be careful.”

• He has spinerettes AND web shooters. His spinerettes formed later than any of his other abilities (they also formed after he already became Spider-Man) so he already had working web shooters

• Peter doesn’t use his spinerettes often, he needs a lot of protein and food for them to be strong enough— or even for him to have enough — to use. He’s a broke guy living in New York. So, no organic webs for him.

• Personally, the spider that bit him was for sure a woman

• Related to that, since he is a biological male who got bit by a female spider, he’s developed qualities from both sexes. • The anxiousness and need to please is from the male, who is on edge of putting his lover in a bad mood. Probably because she’ll eat him. • BUT, he also has odd urges (related to eating people— sorry he’s so freaky.) depending on who he’s with at the time, dating or interested in

• His spinerettes are extremely sensitive. It’s basically like a really inconvenient gspot. When rubbing the skin around the hole, the feeling is so much less intense. If he’s stimulated directly on the opening, it’s like a jolt through his entire body for however long the sensation lasts. The hole is usually small, about the size of a tiny bracelet bead; when they’re stimulated, they can open up a bit to like, half the size of a dime.

• Yeah, he “webs” and you know exactly what i mean when I say that.

• When mating season rolls around, which is sometime during september I believe, Peter goes through the worst of it. For like a week he gets turned on by practically everything around him, so he has to just, stay locked in his apartment and use his precious precious pto (paid time off)

• When he turned eighteen, the female part of his spider biology started kicking in. Whenever he was romantically interested in a man/masc person, he would have horrible urges to “bite” them. If they did anything that even minutely inconvenienced him, he got pissy the entire rest of the day and had even more of an urge.

The other woman breaks Bridge's focus as her jovial tone of voice rings through the silence, causing her to shoot a glance over her shoulder. Upon seeing Spinerette, an utterance of acknowledgement follows the woman's motions as she turns to fully face her

The automaton grants her a quick bow in greeting as they approach.

"Spinerette, hello. A pleasure to hear from you again. I do not find it odd at all. You have been well, I hope...?"

Seagull and Nightwing were in Gotham, Seagull didn’t want to be in what she was told was the worse twin city. Yet Nightwing wanted to get her comfortable with Gotham just incase she was needed as backup.

Naturally Seagull got separate from her mentor and turned around to see a spider themed vigilante behind her.

She put up her fists, expecting a fight.

“ Woah there! “ Spinerette looked at Seagull with a shocked expression, the spider-like eyes on her mask widening like her actual eyes behind it. Her hands were raised like a criminal giving himself up. “ You’re new here, aren’t’cha? Never seen ya’ before. “

She moved with the grace expected from a ballerina, jumping down from where she was perched as she landed silently. “ I expected Wing, but not a new birdie. Much less a beach bird. “ She mumbled the last part while tilting her head a bit to the side, her fingers sparking with electricity.

She had heard rumors of Nightwing taking someone in, but she didn’t expect to meet them in person! Spinerette was kind of jealous, she wanted a mentor, but there weren’t exactly a lot of spider heroes. Much less in Gotham, mainly Bats and Birds.

Obviously extremely late to this, finals week be upon me ....

BUT !! Obviously as can be seen on Blog I am a weremon, and as I mentioned in my intro post I'm currently in for study about my natal weremon condition. It leads to a lot of neat little discoveries every day!!

Such as, apperently my spinerettes never fully disappear? The glands to produce silk stick around, though deeply athropied, right above the tailbone-area! It's not really noticable because of it's nonfunctionality, but it's neat to know that it sticks around!
