Wow I went off- but you need to start recognizing your own unhealthy behaviors, so you can become better and healthier for yourself in your friendships. It's reminding me a lot of some of Beach Bunny's lyrics, (no shade to her, I have overplayed all of their stuff lol) I myself didn't see it at the time, but after a lot of my own healing I started to really recognize how- people pleasing, anxious attachment style, etc, the lyrics were... And how (just speaking for the character in the lyrics, not the actual writer I don't know her) a lot of the heartbreak and drama could have been avoided if she looked at and addressed her own anxiety issues, instead of focusing on the other party in the situation... Hoodoo divination practices

Venturing into the mystical realm of divination, the ancient art of peering into the future, reveals a diverse array of practices deeply ingrained in various cultures. It's high time, particularly for the Black community, to acquaint themselves with the unique divination methods intrinsic to Hoodoo.

First and foremost, it's vital to dispel the common misconception—Tarot is not a native element of Hoodoo. While incorporating Tarot into Hoodoo practices isn't inherently wrong, recognizing its newness to the tradition is crucial. Hoodoo, grounded in resourcefulness, thrives on utilizing what's at hand. Traditional Hoodoo divination paints a vibrant picture, involving practices such as water scrying, star gazing, dreams, visions, psychometry, conversations, and bibliomancy.

These practices aren't confined to rituals; they seamlessly weave into the fabric of everyday life for Black individuals. The prophetic nature of the community fosters an innate knowing that serves as a guiding force—a unique form of divination.

However, the dark era of slavery deprived practitioners of access to various tools later integrated into the Hoodoo system. As the tradition evolved, native tools emerged, including cartomancy, dice, dominoes, bone throwing, and automatic writing. Mastering a divination form native to the Hoodoo lineage is more than a choice; it's a pivotal step towards becoming a proficient practitioner.

Importantly, Hoodoos are advised against heavy reliance on tools. Instead, tools serve as confirmations, with the primary goal being the mastery of clairvoyant abilities as a prophet and psychic. This mastery stems from self-awareness, unwavering focus, and the ongoing journey toward self-mastery.

Polaris Hilda, The High Priestess

My fanart for the Saint Seiya Tarot Collaboration organized by CyberSpecter. This artwork is Glazed.

The High Priestess card represents a connection between the mortal existence and higher knowledge, just like how Hilda is the connection between her people and the gods in Asgard.

The rune ᚨ (ansuz) between her hands symbolized divine guidance, and was frequently used to refer to Odin. Odin himself was a seeker of knowledge, going as far as sacrificing one of his eyes in exchange of wisdom. And even though in the anime Hilda only wears her raven-winged black headpiece while under the influence of the Nibelung ring, the fact it exists and is very similar to the headpiece in Odin's statue, leads me to believe it's part of her priestess attire. All in all, the three elements (ansuz, eye, headpiece) are linked through color and highlight, to represent Hilda's connection to the gods.

Her golden piece was redesigned to resemble the Viking Urnes style. The "moon-crown" elements are said to reference Hathor from Egyptian mythology, but also represent different stages of life (child, adult, senior) through the moon phases. The stars are a nod to the Ursa Major and the Polaris star, so prominent in the Asgard saga (they aren't included in the website version of the card because they match the frame used here specifically, and I didn't want it to look weird with the website frame)

[So far, I have touched upon how I have structured my blog's 'primary' AU's (not counting ships as most of them are sub-verses in each setup), and how they are based on Tarot cards thus far:

The Fool, for Hriob at his 'baseline' on his own, as well as covering the majority of his ship-verses as per multi-shipping standards.

The Emperor, for Hriob as the head of his own Fae Court, and unwittingly setting himself up to realize sudden realizations about himself with the aid of those he enlists. [Essentially a Political Fantasy AU revolving around alliances, intrigue, and preparations for a potential apocalypse, but its also the only verse to eschew multi-shipping rules as a potential polycule situation for reasons of drama and hilarity.]

The Hanged Man, for Hriob as a humble high-school teacher by day, and a masked Fae vigilante by night in a setting that ditches his ancestral home to join one city or another [Possible options include Gotham and Japan, but will be sub-divided by additional tags accordingly].

The Tower, a.k.a. the 'Sinister AU', for Hriob in a 'Bad End' where his mother died, and he took it rather hard... to the point of shunning the outside world entirely and taking a near-flagellant approach to his own life in the ruins that he calls home. [Heavily involving the absence of @melodiadraconis's Lyth and incarceration of one of @shatteredwastes's many AUs of the Jumper, aka Gaolbird].

[Other Cards may be planned already in varying stages of preparation, However, I am considering taking advantage of one aspect of Tarot-reading to help inspire/open up even more AU's - the aspect of an 'Inverted' card, where the meaning of the card is reversed or turned on its head... though it is easy to assume this means 'worse', it not usually a case of 'normal means good and reversed is bad'. However, what that means for Hriob and the blog is interesting:

The Fool - Reversed, Unplanned, but likely a verse where Hriob as-we-know-him never came to be, and Krakonos still continues on as the Mountain King without incident.

The Emperor - Reversed, for Hriob as a member of Gaki's Court in a timeline where they never broke up [reference to @nomercyleft and one of their AU's - and ironically part of another polycule].

The Hanged Man - Reversed, Unplanned, but likely for Hriob in an Urban setting not as a teacher or vigilante, but more of a pure Celebrity, likely an actor and investor of some kind [Again unplanned but likely using the same city-setting-specific tag system].

The Tower - Reversed, for Hriob starting in the parameters of the 'Sinister AU', but leading to a confrontation with a certain grieving empress that leads to a renewal of his former relationship with her [once again heavily involving yet another AU with @nomercyleft].

[Again, the second set is mainly under-construction still, but have a lot of groundwork settled for at least a handful to get the ball rolling. I fully intend to extend things further across the Arcana. Some plans are as follows:

The Devil, A verse where Hriob loses and Owen wins in their little tug-of-war for the fate of the world, resulting in him being reincarnated into the new world with... more baggage than anyone involved would have asked for. [Technically another nomercyleft verse but actually focusing on characters in @thelittlestdemon's blog].

The Star, for a verse in the future involving the version of Amelia known as The Seeker, aka Lillium... and the newest reincarnation of Hriob's spiritual lineage, a young boy named Casimir, in her care [yet another collaborative verse with the many versions of the star of @shatteredwastes].

[I admit that some of these have been in the works for over a year without much opportunity to focus on them, and others are rather fresh ideas from recent plotting sessions with my many friends and compatriots over on Discord, but all the same I hope this little sneak peek gets me more of a foundation to get my Writing New-Year's-Resolution started, and get more of you on-board with planning and starting a lot of these verses soon!]

Archetypes in Metaphor: ReFantazio, and the Neverending Story

It seems like the new Personas in Metaphor are called Archetypes. This term is interesting because it's linked to C. G. Jung's psychoanalysis, that predates the Persona series and to a certain extent also Megaten.

Archetypes according to Jung are basically prototypes or templates that are present in the collective unconscious and, as a consequence, repeat in stories, myths or dreams along time and around the world. The Persona and the Shadow are also archetypes, and so are other Jungian concepts like the Anima and the Animus. But the archetypes also include figures like the mother, the father, the wise old man, the child, the maiden, etc, and other related to events such as birth, death or marriage. Oh, and the Tarot arcana! So it's a pretty broad concept, that has already been present in Persona even if not by name.

Metaphor: ReFantazio doesn't seem preoccupied with keeping the archetypes Jung mentioned. Not like that's a big deal, Jung himself considered that the amount of archetypes could be infinite. The ones used in the game seem taken from TTRPG classes, which doesn't surprise me given how at some point years ago they mentioned TTRPG as inspiration.

Something I also noticed in this image is that Archetypes seem to have ranks. If you ever played the old Persona, you may be familiar with the rank system. It's basically levels for a Persona/Archetype that work independently from the player's level and are tied to skill learning. This makes me wonder if Archetypes will be interchangable between the characters as in the old Persona system, or similarly to FF5 job system.

The "Learning Archetypes" option definitely sounds like at least the protagonist is going to be able to change Archetype. The "Seeker's Research", however, makes me think that the Seeker will be inevitably linked to the protagonist. I really wonder how the system is going to be.

In this screenshot we can appreciate the same characters with different archetypes. If you compare them to the ones in the equipment menu, there's a clear correspondance. These look like evolved Archetypes. Whether they evolve in the new Persona way or are obtained as in the old Persona games, remains to be seen, although this makes me think more of the first case, which would correspond to a fixed Archetype system.

Of course, there's one Archetype here that stands out. The Soul Hacker. I don't think you'll found this in any TTRPG. This seems to be the evolved form of the Seeker, which already deviates from the usual RPG classes or jobs. But it should be obvious to you where it comes from: the Devil Summoner's sequels. The first Soul Hackers game has the protagonist relive other people's last moments in Vision Quests. I'm not sure what this may mean for Metaphor. The fact that we can see the protagonist over a spaceship at one point in the trailer makes me think of visions of different worlds, but then again, it wouldn't be the first Atlus game to depict medieval fantasy and space in the same world (Last Bible games are crazy, I swear). I don't think the Soul Hacker Archetype was called like that as a mere reference, but it could be a symbolism I'm not totally grasping with the little context I have, for example, that he's good at making bonds, therefore "hacking" the souls of others (????). I don't know.

Anyway, this derailing about Vision Quests makes me thing of another point I wanted to make. This will get even more into theory territory, so take it with a grain of salt.

This sentence has haunted me. This along with the title of the game and that other phrase later on: "It all began with the novel in thy possession." And you know why? Because I know a book that started just like that. It also had a dying monarch, now that I think of it. A book that can be easily interpreted through a Jungian perspective, including archetypes. That had a scene about a mirror reflecting another mirror to symbolize the relationship between a world called Fantastica and the real world. That's The Neverending Story (and, if you've only watched the movie, I'm sorry but you're missing out A LOT here).

Now, I can't know if this book has had an influence here, but I have the feeling this is going to be a similar story. To those who don't know, The Neverending Story is a book about a boy called Bastian who steals a book and starts reading about a green skinned native boy (that probably didn't age well) that is chosen to save the world of Fantastica from the Nothing that is devouring it, by searching for a human that can give the Child Empress a new name. Now, spoilers. Jump to the next paragraph if you don't want them. That human is Bastian, and the moment he calls the Empress by her new name, he gets isekai'd to Fantastica, which is a world made of the collective human imagination. Then, he begins to travel around the world making up stories that become true while he forgets their own memories of the real world, and when he notices it, he begins to look for a way home, that he learns he'll only reach if he finds his True Will. Which ends up being to love (aww).

"What if the world we live in today is their utopia?" at the beginning of the trailer suggests a relationship between the real world and the world of Metaphor. Heck, the frigging Metaphor name suggests that. It's very likely that they know of the human world through books. Through stories (could books become Vision Quests to unlock Archetypes? That would be cool). The same way we know about them: through a story (this time in videogame format). Remember what I said at the beggining? Archetypes are found in myths and stories. It wouldn't be a surprise to me if this world was another Fantastica, a world made with human imagination. Or/and viceversa.

Related to this, there's the concept of the collective unconscious, ever present in the Persona series, and in Megaten through the Great Will, and where Archetypes reside. If this world is anything like Fantastica, it's bound to belong into the Sea of Souls. I don't think the human world in Metaphor is supposed to be the Persona world, since they've shown images more similar to the actual real world, but if that was the case, it wouldn't be too farfetched to think of it as a cognitive world. Lieutenant General Zula in P2EP PSP remake already talked about the existence of populated worlds into the collective unconscious. P5T seemed to show a similar thing, although it could still be just a personal world as in the PQ games.

Even if the human world is our world, I think the Metaphor world is supposed to represent a mirror of our own, made of our thoughts and anxieties. Truly, that could be said about pretty much every work of art ever. But not all of them treat that relationship between ourselves and art or storytelling as a theme. I can think of a bunch, though: Undertale/Deltarune, Utena and Princess Tutu, the already cited Neverending Story, the Quixote... Regardless, since the Jungian themes are so heavily present through the Archetypes, I think it's possible that this world is supposed to exist into our (or our representation in the game's) collective psyche.

Wow, I think my train of thought absolutely derrailed in the last paragraphs, sorry about that. Anyway, nothing more to say here. I hope you found my thoughts interesting.

Tarot card of the day from mother witch

Knight of pentacles. The only horse of all the knights with all four hooves on the ground.

This knight is grounded. Extremely grounded. He's in no rush to go anywhere for sure. He's staying put where he is. Whatever's keeping him in place, he's sticking to it. This knight is no thrill seeker, no adventure finder, no adrenaline junkie. Of all the knights in tarot, he's probably the least "fun".

If the knight is a person in your life, he's probably the workaholic friend. He takes his work very seriously, and he's almost certainly a perfectionist. If he's your boss or a superior, he's probably a pain in the ass to work for/with. His job is probably his life, and chances are, no one can match up to his level of impeccability. If he holds a position beneath yours, you won't have to watch your back for sure. This is not an ambitious knight. He's content to stay exactly where he is, delivering what's expected of him, carrying out his work diligently and as flawlessly as possible.

This knight's love language is acts of service. He will probably show his love and loyalty by cleaning your kitchen counters or vacuuming your house. The knight of pentacles is hard set on practicality and stability, and he will work until he gets the life that he thinks will be the best for him, one of financial security and consistency.

Like all the other knights, this one is focused and driven in his own way. He won't stop until the work at hand is complete, and he's going to work, work, and work, whether it's building a house from the ground up or starting a new business. This knight will be set on building something stable, lasting, and profitable, and he will disappoint no one and let nothing stop him. The knight of pentacles isn't afraid of dull, tedious, hard work. He will buckle down, plow through it and get the job done, whatever it takes. There's no taking shortcuts or cutting corners for the knight of pentacles. Whatever needs to get done is going to get done, even if it means all work and no play. This is also a knight whom you can count on to protect financial resources and material goods. He's not one to let money slip through his fingers. He's most likely a star budgeter. He will make his money, and then guard it with pragmaticism and practicality. Chances are, he's someone who has a good chunk of savings in the bank, but doesn't spend a dime on anything he doesn't need.

Indie Semi-Selective, Horror-centric Multi-muse starring Billy Butcher and Queen Maeve from THE BOYS (2019) as portrayed by Kuroki. Exploring the Action Girl, Anti-Hero, Broken Bird, Death Seeker, Dirty Coward, Manipulative Bastard, and the woes of the h(a)unted. Varimancy (General Divination)

General Divination is a fascinating practice that offers insight into the unknown, allowing us to navigate questions and situations through specific processes and rituals. Varimancers, skilled in the art of divination, possess the ability to interpret signs, events, or omens, guiding seekers towards the best course of action.

Within the realm of Varimancy, a myriad of methods exists to read the future, gain profound insights, or unearth hidden truths from the past. While delving into each one would be an endless endeavor, I'll share some of my personal favorites and provide a glimpse into how they work.

🕰️ Chronomancy - By consulting personal clocks or watches, chronomancy allows diviners to determine auspicious moments or lucky/unlucky days for specific endeavors.

💧 Hydromancy - This enchanting art involves divining through the ripples created in water, whether by a ring or pebble, drops of rain, or a drop of oil. Some practitioners even harness the natural flow and waves of rivers and creeks to discern specific outcomes.

🔥 Pyromancy - Through the burning of branches from trees or herbs, pyromancy practitioners interpret the fire, initial sparks, and smoke to unveil guidance for future actions, recollections from the past, or answers to questions.

☕ Tasseomancy - Using patterns formed by tea leaves, coffee grounds, or wine sediments, tasseomancy experts unveil images that pertain to forthcoming events or manifestations in the future.

🌈 Auramancy - This unique practice taps into the aura of an individual, reading the colors, patterns, and vibrations to gain insight into their future or current situation.

🌍 Geomancy - By interpreting marks on the ground or patterns formed by tossed handfuls of soil, rocks, or sand, geomancy offers glimpses into the hidden knowledge embedded in the Earth. Some even employ enchanted magnets to divine using the natural magnetization of the Earth.

🔢 Numeromancy - Numeromancy involves the mystical relationship between numbers and coinciding events. Practitioners study the numerical value of letters in words and names, unveiling profound insights.

🌬️ Aeromancy - This method of divination draws upon cloud formations, wind currents, and cosmological events such as comets to uncover glimpses of the past, present, or future.

🌸 Anthomancy - Divination through the vibes of flowers, anthomancy recognizes the radiating vibrations, reactions to environments, and even responses to electric shocks. The petals, colors, planting time, and location all offer clues to be deciphered.

🦴 Osteomancy - Through the throwing of bones, osteomancy practitioners interpret the positions and alignments to provide answers to questions that can only be divinely answered.

🕯️ Ceromancy - This intriguing form of divination involves working with wax. By heating wax until molten and pouring it into cold water, diviners read the shapes and swirls to gain insight and guidance.

🃏 Taromancy - Taromancy, also known as Tarotmancy, utilizes Tarot cards for divination. This widely preferred form of divination offers profound insights into various aspects of life.

❄️ Cryomancy - By observing patterns and reflections in frozen waters, cryomancy practitioners seek to uncover future events, particularly natural disasters. However, some intriguing patterns may not necessarily carry negative connotations.

🖋️ Encromancy - Encromancy utilizes ink stains to allow practitioners to predict the future. Shapes and forms within the ink stains may also reveal the inner emotions and feelings of the wizard.

💀 Necromancy - Necromancy delves into the realm of communication with the spirits of the departed. By calling upon these spirits, diviners can gain visions, hidden knowledge, or offer closure to their clients.

🐚 Margaritomancy - Despite its name, margaritomancy does not involve divination through margaritas. Instead, it harnesses the power of pearls. Through the placement of pearls near fire and uttering names or questions, diviners observe the movement and clinks of pearls to determine answers.

☁️ Nephomancy - Nephomancy, the divination practice centered around cloud formations, involves interpreting the color, shape, and position of clouds in the sky. This practice provides insights into the natural signs within the atmosphere.

🌙 Oneiromancy - Oneiromancy bases its predictions on dreams, allowing practitioners to explore the depths of the subconscious and predict the future through dream analysis. Certain oneirogen plants may also enhance dream-like states.

🔤 Onomancy - Onomancy draws insights from a subject's name. By adding up the numerical values of letters in names and comparing the remainders, diviners can predict outcomes and determine victors.

🖐️ Chiromancy - This ancient form of divination examines the lines on the palm to make predictions about one's career, love life, and overall happiness. Chiromancy focuses on personal futures.

🖥️ Technomancy - Technomancy represents a modern form of divination. By studying marks on monitors, keyboards, or the unique setup of a wizard, diviners predict future developments. Additionally, technomancy explores the history of Fizzles' technological advancements, enabling wizards to anticipate future inventions in order to adjust their practices accordingly (also known as Technimancy).

Sibyls hold a special place in the world of divination. These skilled practitioners possess unparalleled accuracy in their chosen form of varimancy. Major Sibyls, though extremely rare, achieve a 100% accuracy rate in their predictions, while Minor Sibyls, more common, maintain an impressive 70-90% accuracy. These gifted individuals often share profound prophecies, which are carefully recorded and preserved in the Hall of Prophecy within the Court of Mysteries.
