community characters as quotes from my professors
jeff: “hey, sorry, i can’t be there today. i got stuck in the alps because our bridge that was our way back broke. i have a little bit of data and i thought i’d let you guys know, but i should be there in a few days. or a few weeks. depends on if i decide to hike down the mountain or wait for them to rebuild the bridge.”
britta: “are you a she or a they? no? then you can’t participate.”
abed: “and here we go, on this endless cycle of questioning whether or not everything we do is predetermined. and if everything is predetermined, we’re stuck following the script. we’re just actors! there’s nothing we can do to change the script that your god has given you! and from there, we go back to a question that’s been asked for twenty six hundred years: is there anything we can do to stop this suffering, or are we stuck going through these same horrific parts of life time and time again?”
troy: “i always say ‘i am fearless, therefore powerful’ every time i go jogging. which... is what the creature says when he’s trying to kill victor frankenstein. i don’t know what that says about me. i don’t know if i should’ve shared that.”
pierce: “that guy… he was a eugenicist. but this one isn’t!”
shirley: “it does sound quite beautiful. when it’s actually in tune.”
annie: "if you actually did this right, it'd be great."

Embrace a Most Engaging Encore (Forwin in Fire Emblem Engage)
One can fit a surprising number of names under the all-encompassing mantle of a bard. Are they but simple musicians by trade, eager to entertain any passing soul willing to lend an ear? Do these poets simply aim to please with silly verses with no proper aim, or are they master storytellers, who not only know how to enthral, but also inform the masses? How many great deeds have they borne witness to as historians, and how many fantastical tales have they passed on as collectors?
Poetically known as the Emblem of Bards, the spirit of Emblem Forwin stood out from among his peers as a sterling example of his trade, with Elyos minstrels in the distant past having learnt the story of a bard well-travelled. Forwin Tyrell natively hails from Fódlan, the same land of origin as the Emblems of the Academy and of Rivals. Born as Wyndell von Gerth, the lutist stepped away from nobility and instead embraced the simpler life of a commoner, though he soon ended up under Garreg Mach Monastery as an Ashen Wolf student in Abyss.
When war came to the monastery, the battle saw Forwin falling through a hidden gate in the catacombs and emerging in Nohr, home to Corrin, the Emblem of Fates. He would further hone his talent as a court musician in the service of the kingdom’s royal family, up until the warring lands of Hoshido and Nohr joined arms against their true enemy. Along his long journey home, Forwin also ventured with Celica, the Emblem of Echoes, in her quest to reach Mila’s Temple and free Valentia of Duma’s influence. The bard would finally reach his homeland five years after he vanished, and see to peace returning in Fódlan after the end of the conflict between the Adrestian Empire and the Church of Seiros.
Should the Divine Dragon happen upon the Bracelet of the Wanderer in which Emblem Forwin’s spirit resides, he can be awakened from it with the invocation: “Play on, Emblem of Bards!” Those who don the Bracelet in battle can Engage with Emblem Forwin; when bestowed with his powers, they would also find notable stat boosts in Magic, Dexterity, and Luck.
To obtain the Bracelet of the Wanderer, the player must clear his Divine Paralogue: “The Windborne Songster.” Rumours of bandits raiding the tomb in which the Bracelet is kept have reached the Divine Dragon’s party. Upon hearing of this, the group promptly leaves for the islands south of Firene to investigate, lest they risk the Bracelet falling into the wrong hands and becoming lost forever. While Alear and company would arrive to find that those same bandits thankfully failed and perished, their foolish attempt at stealing the Bracelet nonetheless caused the tomb’s guardian golem to awaken...
The map for this Divine Paralogue replicates that of Chapter 4: Danger in the Dark, from the “Cindered Shadows” side story of Fire Emblem: Three Houses. The map’s theme, in turn, includes a new rendition of “The Shackled Wolves.”

Book Roundup 2022
ok ive never done this before but i read a lot in 2022 so im just gonna make a post abt it! yeehaw 🐎
Favorites:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i read so much good stuff this year but i think my two favorites were Project Hail Mary and Borne.
Project Hail Mary is a great sci fi book. Andy Weir writes very good stuff, and this is even better than The Martian imo. please please if you can go into this book knowing NOTHING about what happens. don't even read the blurb. if you like hard sci fi that has some techno talk but not overwhelmingly much you'll like this just trust me. it's so engaging and if you like reading about an extremely capable person dealing with Circumstances and Situations it's such a satisfying book.
Borne is about two people and a creature (will not be explaining him further) surviving in a post apocalyptic city that is ruled over by a gigantic flying bear. there's mutated things and other humans trying to survive and an evil corporation, etc. Vandermeer is super creative and writes very well imagined settings. i always want to climb inside his books even when they get horrifying, which they do. there's unexpectedly a lot of love in this book amidst the horror and it's quite beautiful.
I'll put the Southern Reach trilogy next, even though it's pictured last, because it's also by Jeff Vandermeer. this trilogy has a ton of captivating speculative ecology, and a biologist main character who is so much like so many biologists I've met. the first book is excellent but i think it really shines as a trilogy because the way the characters and setting unfolds and affects each other is so well done. also whitby for best character i love that little freak so much.
i reread Perdido Street Station followed by the next two in that world (not strictly a trilogy but they all take place in bas-lag and are vaguely chronological), The Scar and Iron Council. PSS is about a fucked up city and biological engineering gone wrong, the Scar is about a fucked up city but what if it was on boats and there's a leviathan, and Iron Council is what if we left the fucked up city to live on a train. they have magic disguised as science, and science disguised as magic, multiple human and non human intelligent races living together (occasionally having sex), anti-fascism, vampires, anti-capitalism, old-timey diving bells, and dirigibles. please read them i wish they had a fandom im dying inside
Reading Stats:
books read: 40
top 3 genres: fantasy, sci-fi, horror
using this to plug storygraph because goodreads is owned by amazon. i find storygraph just as useful and intuitive and they'll transfer all your stuff from goodreads for you 👍 also they made me this cool graph look
Tumblr media
ok im gonna tag a couple people but i rly don't know how many of you read so if u wanna share your favorites please do and tag me!! @speculativefictions @crunchity-munchity @egoborderline @astronargles

ONE DAY ONE CHARACTER - DAY 6
Name: Stat
Age: 29-30
Creator: Lucia
Short description: Stat is part of the “Dad Council” uniting the oldest men in jeffhouse. Rough, vulgar and rude- Stat is still liked by most people. He likes to fix old stuff like cars and grill as a hobby, and also kiss Blondie. Stat is mostly cocky but not that harmful.

Redesigning Creepypasta Characters!
Hey, y’all
I’ve been trying to get into the Creepypasta fandom again, but I’ve recently come to the revelation that I have no idea who any of these characters are besides their fandom depictions.
(I looked them up on a couple of wiki’s and it seems that there aren’t many logical descriptions for some of the characters.)
SO, I figured fuck it. I’ll just do a little tweaking. Just to give them a more concrete baseline.
I'll also note that controversial characters such as Sally, Clockwork, and Offenderman will be excluded.
I try to filter out characters that grossly misuse mental disorders / trauma to explain abnormality in psychodynamic terms to garner sympathy or personal identification for the character
I have a few reasons for this:
(source - Packer, Sharon. Mental Illness in Popular Culture. 2017)
It perpetuates incorrect perceptions of mental illness
Many horror films have been known to do this, and it's probably why so many horror creators for the fandom resorted to this idea. It's no fault of their own, merely a learned condition. However, it's best to be aware that you're doing it because people (back in the day) demonized those who were seen as mentally ill to give the reassurance that having an illness could never happen to the audience.
It gives the impression that mentally ill people are violent and inherently evil
This can be seen with some existing CP characters as they resort to violence after treatment doesn't work and life doesn't improve.
It contributes to the belief that those with mental illnesses are recognizably different from others in both manner and appearance
Again, while some creators brand marks on their characters to appear creepy and disturbing, it also says that those with mental illnesses are disturbed and unlike everyone else. I think everyone knows at this point that's not the case, but it's best to avoid it regardless.
I personally do not want to misrepresent a mental illness I do not have, and I do not want to give the impression that someone with a specific mental disorder that’s already misunderstood (such as schizophrenia) is "fated" (for a lack of a better term) to a life of violence.
This doesn’t mean I’m going to avoid symptoms, however. You can show symptoms of a disorder without actually having the disorder
Ex. Someone who’s narcissistic does not inherently have npd
Finally, I want to make clear that these recreations are not to infantilize or sympathize killers / excuse their actions. They are still going to 1000% be asshole murderers.
In creating solid backgrounds for these characters, it might cause the characters to change drastically or not at all.
I’ll be using a specific character template I’ve created to guide me along which can be found on my Wattpad: XxAcidicGoddessxX (wait wait, don’t turn away!)
I mention in my wattpad that I use D&D stats to make sure these characters aren’t OP as well, but I’ve found that people don’t like to overcomplicate RP what that, so for simplicity’s sake I’ll be keeping the stats on the DL.
If this interests you, stick around :) I’ll be doing Jeff the Killer first.
