lighthearted.

i turn 24 today. To celebrate, I made this comic to be a spiritual successor to lead balloon, a comic in which I talked about the darkest period of my life so far.
A lot has changed since my 23rd birthday and this one. My priorities have shifted a lot, in ways that I think are mostly good. But i think the best part about today is that suicide has gone back to being a far away notion. I'm really lucky, and I'm grateful for that.

was it casual when i invited you to monaco and we dreamed of our future together in formula 1? was it casual when we wrestled one another in our hotel rooms and threw out the beds out the windows? was it casual when you learned unicycling in two days so we could bike together? was it casual when we turned everything into competition, eating two to three whole pizza boxes for fun like it was cool? was it casual when you hugged me so hard and jumped in joy when i got my first podium? was it casual when i held you in the cooldown room and congratulated you for your wdc win despite the fact that it could have been my win? was it casual when i loved you and held you despite telling the world we were not friends, that we didn’t even know each other? was it casual when you compared our rivalry to that of a toxic relationship? was it casual when you talked about other women and sex instead when you were asked about our past together? was it casual when we knew each other so well people have described us as everything but lovers? was it casual when you said you were a better teammate than you were back when we raced against each other, in 2016? was it casual when

Genderfluid Julie, again! Named Jules because the name is right there!
I like to think he changes his voice a bit with the help of Sally, who calls him Julian or Julius (so Greek sounding).
Eddie and Frank are already friends with him, so they love him already, which makes the thought of friend crushes (also called “squishes”) very possible. Like when you have a close friend and you’re hanging out as usual, but you’re suddenly confused if you like them more than just a friend or if you just really like them as a person (platonic).

house md season 4 finales had me smoking out a window in the dead of the night type contemplative. house called for wilson to pick him up when he was drunk alone at the bar. like the writers kind of dangled house/amber what with the seduction dream sequence and the bartender saying she was his girlfriend for the night. but then you find out house wanted wilson and told her to go get him and only went on the bus after storming out refusing to go with her. amber only went to get house for wilson's sake too. amber had been well established to be a female version of house. and house got irrationally possessive and jealous over wilson since they actually seemed happy which led to house spending less time with wilson. he wanted to get him drunk and stay out together past 11pm. which could mean nothing. and then he risked his life and his brain to save her out of nothing but wanting to make wilson happy even if it wasn't with him. which could also mean nothing

For my birthday... read my webcomic! It's literally free! (Unless you want books. Those are not free)
It's beautiful, it's gentle, it's funny, they're canonically t4t and gay... And it's about time traveling vampires solving supernatural mysteries!
I've spent thousands of hours writing and drawing it, and it's really good! I'm not biased!
It's on hiatus right now and coming back in 2 months, so it's the perfect time to get caught up

fionna's world being represented by a dandelion makes so much sense ... they're weeds. yet people make wishes through them, changing their whole meaning from something meant to be destroyed to something hopeful.
dandelions are also resilient and it makes sense that something associated with them would. you know. perservere despite the destruction caused by the scarab.
but ultimately i think what REALLY made me tear up over this is that dandelions are really boring plants. when you're a kid you blow on them and make your wish but they're not eyecatching or anything but still, fionna's final wish was for her old world to still exist as it was when she left it (> plain and simple. boring even).
like the moment she realized she would lose her friends, and that her friends might forget each other if the world got its magic back, she immediately decided she didn't want it and I think that ties back to the dandelion metaphor so well... like, do you really need magic to be real to find it everywhere? or can you turn something boring into something magical?
