You’ve hated Robert Fischer for as long as you can remember. Growing up, your father told you that the Fischer’s were no good and their business wasn’t much better. You, of course, believed him. You didn’t know any better.
Unfortunately, you often attended the same events, like charity galas and fundraisers, and every single interaction ended in juvenile bickering. As you got older, you grew to resent him— solely because of the fact that he got hot and you couldn’t have him— and the jabs became more personal. You mocked him for his daddy issues, he mocked you for your reputation— you’re seen a few times with different guys and all of a sudden that makes you a whore, nevermind the fact that half of the guys you were seen with are gayer than Elton John.
But the rivalry between your families was hurting both businesses. And even though neither you nor Robert had anything to do with it, you were still partially responsible apparently. Which is how you found yourself at dinner, sitting next to your father and across from Robert, his father beside him. The tension was thick, one wrong word from anyone and all of this would go down the drain immediately. So you kept your mouth shut, letting your father do the talking.
“As much as we both hate to admit it, we can’t keep this up.” He said and you waited for the point he was trying to make.
“Both of our businesses are struggling because of it and I think we came to a fair solution.” Robert’s father added. You sighed and picked up your wine to stop yourself from telling them to just spit it out already. “We want you both to get married.” You choked on your drink and started coughing as you set the glass back down, Robert had a similar reaction with his food.
“It would end this petty feud and our businesses would be stronger together.” Your father explained and you turned to him in shock, staring at him as if he had grown a second head.
“Are you fucking crazy?” You hissed, making his gaze harden.
“Don’t make a scene. We don’t need you embarrassing the family any further.” He spat, making you clench your jaw and look away. It’s not your fault paparazzi are obsessed with you and stalk you everywhere you go.
“I never thought I’d say this, but I have to agree with her.” Robert finally chimed in, speaking apprehensively.
“Son, you know we’re right.” You watched him soften at his fathers words— what a weak little daddy’s boy. You thought with a scoff.
“No you’re not.” You said, keeping your voice at a normal level.
“That’s not for you to decide.” Your father said and you stood up suddenly, throwing the napkin from your lap onto your plate and grabbing your purse. “Sit back down. We’re not done.” He warned.
“I’m not listening to this shit. Figure out another solution.” You spat. When you tried to walk away, he grabbed your wrist in a bruising grip. You swallowed down a whimper from the pain, not turning back around to face him as your eyes started watering.
“Sit down.” He hissed, tightening his grip until you couldn’t hold down the sound anymore. Thankfully, it didn’t seem like anyone heard it. You moved back to your seat and he let you go.
As you kept your gaze on your lap and rubbed your sore wrist, you could practically feel his gaze on you. Sure enough, when you looked up, Robert was staring at you with a mixture of confusion, concern, and pity.
“I’m sorry. One day I know you both will see this the way we do.” His father said. After a few more minutes of the men conversing and you keeping your head down, your father finally dismissed you and you practically ran out of the restaurant. You texted your driver, then waited outside the building, trying to at least wait until you were in the car to start crying.
“Hi.” You stiffened, then shook your head with a sniffle.
“I don’t need this right now, Fischer.” You said quietly, voice trembling.
“Me neither. I came to ask if you’re okay.” He spoke with a gentleness you didn’t know he was capable of.
“Of course I’m not fucking okay.” You spat viciously. “I’m barely in my mid twenties, I don’t want to marry yet— I’m not ready to marry yet. Let alone you. I want to- to marry someone I love.” Your voice broke pathetically and you kept your gaze forward or down, not able to look at him. He let out a heavy sigh, but didn’t respond, seemingly realizing that nothing he could say would help right now. His hand suddenly touching yours made you flinch as you head snapped to him. He gently lifted your hand and inspected your wrist, running his thumb over the red skin.
“Don’t.” You said sharply, not wanting to feel worse about yourself.
“I didn’t say anything.”
“Well you thought it. He’s not— he’s not an abuser, okay? He just doesn’t know his own strength.” You defended weakly. The first part you technically believed, but you knew that what he did was always intentional— one of his ways of asserting his power over you.
“I’m sorry.” He said quietly, making your gaze harden.
“I don’t need your pity.” You spat, pulling your hand away. You could’ve cried in relief when your car finally pulled up. He called out for you when you started walking away, making you freeze, then turn back around.
“They told me to tell you there’s going to be a meeting you need to attend next week to go over everything.”
“Is that all?” You asked, voice breaking slightly as you spoke.
He hesitated, then gave you a small, “yes” and you continued walking, now finding the driver standing there with the door open. You spared him one last glance before getting in. Even though you knew he couldn’t see you through the practically black window tint, it still felt like his gaze was on you.
The next few days were spent drinking and crying. Eventually you decided your pity party was over. If you’re about to be married off like fucking cattle, might as well make the most of your time as a free woman, right? Which is how you found yourself at your semi regular hookup’s house.
It wasn’t good. He seemed to realize that your mind was elsewhere and offered to talk, saying you didn’t have to keep going. That made you scoff and snap back some mean retort about how if you wanted to talk, you would’ve hit up a shrink. Which you felt bad about, but it was quickly forgotten.
The meeting was in two days. There were moments when you seriously considered not going… but you didn’t want to find out what the consequences would be. On the day of the meeting, you woke up late— already off to a bad start— and had to quickly wipe off last night's makeup and do your best to reapply it quickly.
When you arrived, the conversation stopped and everyone turned to you, watching you take off your sunglasses as you sat in the only open chair, next to Robert.
“Nice of you to finally join us— and hungover too.” Your father snarked.
“Sorry I’m late.” You said with an exaggerated smile. “Please continue.” The expression dropped almost instantly and you waited for the conversation to pick back up.
It dragged on slowly. They talked about the business and legal aspects of the deal, made sure everyone was on the same page about what they would get out of this arrangement, and you just sat there the whole time, trying not to cry as you thought about how you’d never be able to have a boyfriend— at least not a public one, and he probably wouldn’t want to put up with the secrecy of it all. Those thoughts spiraled into the realization that you’ll never experience being with someone you truly love.
Someone called your name loudly, making your head snap up.
“What?” You asked, trying to push down the panic attack.
“I asked if you were listening.” Your father said, completely unamused.
“I was. I need to just— I need… I have to go to the bathroom.” You scrambled out of your chair, ignoring your father calling out for you, and practically ran to the bathroom. You slammed the door shut and locked it, then leaned against it, trying to take deep breaths as you hyperventilated. Your chest tightened and you doubled over, placing your hands on your knees to steady yourself. Tears quickly filled your eyes when you remembered why you were having a panic attack in the first place.
Someone slammed their fist on the door rapidly, making your breath catch in your throat.
“Come out of there, I’m not going to tell you again.” Your father said, making your crying come back full force.
“I- I’m almost done.” You did your best to get the words out through your sobs and uneven breaths. You waited for him to yell again, maybe get someone to break down the door, but you heard hushed voices, then silence, followed by a quiet knock.
“What?” You croaked.
“He only agreed to let me.. ‘handle’ this, if you actually let me in.” He said tentatively and you had no reason not to believe him, so you unlocked the door, then leaned against the wall so he could come in.
He almost seemed shocked by your current state, probably expecting you to have just run in here out of boredom.
“I can’t. I can’t, Robert.” You whimpered, taking in shaky, uneven breaths.
“I think we can find a way to make this work.” He said softly, making you shake your head.
“I don’t want to be married to you for the rest of my fucking life! I want to marry someone I love, someone I actually want to spend my life with.”
“I know, I do too. Can you just listen to me please?” You don’t think you’ve ever heard him say the word please before. When you stayed silent, he continued. “My father is already very old and within a few years, he’ll most likely pass and the company will be mine. After that I can try to keep the peace with your family and we can get a divorce, then go our separate ways. I know it’s not ideal, but you’re not going to be stuck in a loveless marriage for the rest of your life.” You started to calm down as you processed his words. You really only have to wait maybe five or ten years before this will be over. Which seems like a lot but you’ll still only be in your early to mid thirties. It could be worse.
“You’re right. I didn’t think about it like that.” You said, exhaustion clear in your voice now that you weren’t actively panicking anymore.
“I usually am, you’re just too stubborn to listen to me.” He chuckled, making the corners of your lips curl up into a small smile. “Make yourself presentable, then come back out. The meeting’s almost over but they want us to get lunch together for our first publicity stunt.” You were about to make a snide remark about him telling you to ‘make yourself presentable’ but it died in your throat when you looked in the mirror.
“Oh my god.” You muttered, embarrassed. He chuckled as he left the bathroom and only then did you register what he said— you have to get lunch with him. Looking like you just crawled out of a dumpster after rotting there for a week. You did your best to wipe away the mascara on your face and just touch up the rest of you, in hopes of making your face slightly less noticeable. Taking a deep breath, you held your head high and put on your best fake smile before walking out.
“Sorry, everyone. I hope I didn’t miss anything too important.” Your father gave you a warning glare at your demeanor. “I heard we’re getting lunch?” You said, trying to move the topic away from yourself.
“Yes. You two have made enough of a fuss in public that just jumping right into this will be worse than playing it up, pretending like you’re actually starting to get along now.” Mr. Fischer explained.
“Paparazzi will be there?” You confirmed.
“Yes. So you might want to stop by your apartment first and make yourself presentable.” Your father added, making you take a deep breath as you dug your nails into your hand.
“Got it. Anything else?” You didn’t mean for it to sound sarcastic, but based on your fathers expression, that’s how it came out. Thankfully Robert spoke before he could comment on it.
“They want us to arrive together. Should I meet you at your apartment later or just come with you now?” Your apartment was a mess right now— that’s the last thing you wanted.
“I think it would be best if,”
“Go with her.” Your father answered for you. Robert looked at you questioningly and you gave him a dry smile.
“Sure. Come with me.”
After a short drive, you finally arrived in front of your apartment building. When he started unbuckling his seatbelt, you turned to him.
“Maybe you could.. wait in the car?”
“I don’t want to sit in here for an hour while you get ready.” He scoffed and you rolled your eyes.
“Fine. Suit yourself.”
You led the way and when the front door opened his eyes widened in shock as he stepped inside.
“Welcome to my depression house. This is how it looks when I’m depressed.” You said sarcastically, walking over to grab the empty bottles of alcohol from the coffee table and put them in the trash.
“Should I be offended?” He asked, walking around the messy space.
“Maybe just a little.” You said teasingly. He eyed the pictures of you and your friends—none with your family, he noticed— and the little trinkets you had on the bookshelf, then turned and looked at the rest of the room.
“It’s… cuter than I thought it would be.” He finally turned to you and you raised your brows.
“What, were you expecting an evil lair? Maybe a dungeon?” You asked, amused.
“No, I just… didn’t think you’d have so many decorations, let alone colorful ones.”
“Well I hope you’re good at adapting because you’ll be stuck with this for the next few years.”
“We are not decorating like this.” He scoffed.
“If you want to tell our fathers that you refuse to go through with this because you don’t want to live in a beautiful house, then go ahead.”
“I think they’d understand.” He sneered and you narrowed your eyes at him. He’s not wrong though, your father used to hate how you decorated your room when you lived in his house. He hates the way you decorate your apartment even more though.
“Ever heard of the phrase, ‘happy wife, happy life’? Because it’s true and I’ll enjoy making your life a living hell until you finally give in.” You smirked.
“God— I forgot how much of a stubborn bitch you are when you’re not moping.” He spat and you gaped at him.
“And I forgot how insufferable you can be when you’re not kissing your daddy’s ass!”
“Maybe if you tried that every once in a while, your father wouldn’t treat you the way he does!” He seemed to immediately realize what he said, after he said it. You clenched your jaw and looked down, taking a deep breath. You were already emotional from the meeting, so it wasn’t surprising when your eyes started burning with tears.
You wished he was right. But your father has always treated you the same no matter how you act, you learned that very early on.
“I didn’t mean,”
“Stop.” You said quietly. “I’m just going to go get ready.” You muttered, walking passed him and into your room, closing the door just a little too loudly.
You were mostly just embarrassed now, rather than angry, and you wanted nothing more than to just stay locked in your room today. But you couldn’t. So you redid your makeup, put on a nice outfit with a matching purse, then walked back out. He suddenly stood up from the couch, as if you had caught him doing something he shouldn’t be doing.
“I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have,”
“It’s fine. Next time though, you could at least make the insult true and a little more creative.” You didn’t look at him as you walked past him to grab your keys and open the door. You waited impatiently as he tentatively walked closer.
“God, Fischer, could you move any slower?” You huffed, making him roll his eyes, but speed up.
The car ride to the restaurant was awkward. Neither of you really knew what to say. You were just glad when his phone rang, it felt like it made the tension a little less thick in the small space. You listened to him talk, wondering what the conversation was about. Whoever was on the line was doing most of the talking because he responded with “yes” and “okay” and “I understand” and not much else. When he finally hung up and put his phone back in his pocket, he turned to you.
“That was my father. He wanted to remind us to pretend like we actually want to be there.” You scoffed a laugh, rolling your eyes.
“I’m surprised no one called me to tell me that.”
“I’m guessing they figured I’d take it better and be more successful at convincing you to behave.” He said teasingly.
“Oh, I can behave, Mr. Fischer. Contrary to popular belief I can be a good girl.” Your tone was overly seductive and you batted your eyelashes at him, smirking when his cheeks turned pink.
“Don’t call me that.” It's almost comical the way he thinks he can sway the conversation in the direction he wants.
“What should I call you then? Sir?” He cleared his throat and shifted in his seat.
“Robert is fine.” He said, voice strained. You barked out a laugh, making his cheeks go even redder as he clenched his jaw, not looking at you.
“You’re too easy, Fischer.”
Lunch went surprisingly well. You had a few small spats, but you both made sure to keep the smiles on your faces. Anyone who wasn’t in hearing distance would think you were having a pleasant conversation.
You made the headlines less than 24 hours later. “Childhood Enemies Turned Lovers?” You almost scoffed at the cheesy line— that was seriously the best they could come up with? The pictures included were all carefully selected by a PR team so that people would believe the fake date was actually real.
The following week, your father texted, ‘Sunday early afternoon.’ and nothing else. You figured it was another PR thing, but you texted Robert to be sure. He confirmed that it was indeed another planned ‘date’ and that he’d pick you up at 11, telling you to dress pretty, which made you scoff. You almost did the opposite, just to piss everyone off, but your father’s been off your back a little more than usual, so you decided to just do it. You wore a sundress and a cardigan, hoping it would be “cute” enough. When you got in the car, you frowned.
“Why do I have to wear a dress but you can wear that?” That made him scoff.
“I’m significantly more dressed up than you. Why are you complaining?”
“Yeah but that’s different, you always wear that.”
“I don’t know, okay? I didn’t decide.” You huffed and turned back to face the front of the car with your arms crossed over your chest. “You look good though.” He suddenly said, making your head snap back to him. His gaze was trained on the bare skin of your thighs for a moment before slowly trailing back up your body, lingering on your breasts that were pushed up because of your crossed arms.
“You done yet?” You asked, making his eyes meet yours as his lips curled up into a small smirk.
“No, not yet.” His gaze moved back to your body and you scoffed as your cheeks heated up.
“Fine. Let me know when you’re finished objectifying me please.” You said with faux seriousness, even though part of you was enjoying the attention.
You arrived at a cafe and he held the door open for you to walk inside, making you blush— and need to remind yourself that this wasn’t real. You both ordered your drinks and he paid. Once you were walking outside for a bit, drinks in hand, you couldn’t push down the curiosity anymore.
“Where are we going?”
“A walk.”
“I hate walks.” You frowned, making him turn to you.
“Okay? What am I supposed to do about that? Carry you?” You rolled your eyes at his tone.
“You’re so sassy sometimes, has anyone ever told you that?”
“Not to my face. Why? Did you hear something?” You snorted a laugh at that, making him smile. You walked in comfortable silence for a while, then when his hand suddenly brushed yours, you flinched away from him.
“What are you doing?”
“They didn’t tell you because they figured you’d throw a fit about it— their words, not mine.” He added the last part when he saw your expression.
“Don’t you think holding hands on the second date is a little soon?” He looked over at you with raised brows as he grabbed your hand.
“You’ve been known to do more on less.” You could tell that he didn’t really believe it, he was just teasing you.
“That’s only because those dates were the first ones where the paparazzi actually saw us.” You explained, feeling like you needed to defend your reputation to him. Which was weird cause you’ve never cared too much before.
“That wasn’t denial.” He smirked and you rolled your eyes with a huff.
“What, you think I fuck on the first date too?”
“I didn’t say that.” He defended, making you scoff. “…But based on some of those videos.. I wouldn’t be surprised.” He added tentatively.
“Don’t act like you haven’t been caught doing the same thing. The only reason people don’t call you a slut is because you're a man.”
“Those were all PR stunts.” He said quietly, the teasing tone now slightly gone. “I don’t usually take girls out in public which caused a whole big speculation of me being gay and obviously my father couldn’t have that.” He chuckled dryly, making you frown.
“Are you?” You hoped your tone showed that you weren’t making fun of him, but genuinely asking.
“No.” He said defensively. “Are you?” It almost seemed like he was expecting this big ah ha moment, the way he asked that.
“I don’t know. I’ve never dated a woman— also because of my father. I’ve hooked up with a few, but I never let myself focus on my feelings for them too hard because if I am, then that’s a whole big secret I have to keep and I just really don’t want to worry about that.” Saying it out loud like that made you sound so fucking gay— “And it’s not that I don’t like men!” You added quickly. “I just,”
“I understand.” You both walked in silence for a few more minutes, then let out simultaneous sighs when you saw the first camera. Even though this was staged, you still don’t exactly have fond memories with paparazzi, so it was pretty uncomfortable to say the least.
“Just think,” He murmured against your ear, making you shiver, “after a few pictures, we’re done and you can go back to your depression house with your weird decorations and not have to put up with me for a while.” You couldn’t suppress the laugh from his words and you tried to ignore the way the clicking of the cameras got more intense.
“I actually cleaned. So it’s not a depression house anymore. And they’re not weird, they’re cute and fun.” He pulled back to look at you, the signature ‘son of a millionaire’ smirk on his face.
“Sure they are, sweetheart.” Despite the mocking tone, your entire face turned red from the pet name.
The photos were released later that night, the main ones being you laughing and smiling as he whispered something in your ear. God— you looked so pathetically love sick, it’s disgusting.

Hi, I was wondering if you know what music John was a fan of in the late 70’s? I’m aware of him being excited about the B52’s, and I’m assuming he liked David Bowie and Elton John’s music in part because they were his friends in addition to obviously being talented. And I think I read once that Julian turned him onto Queen but tbh that may be me misremembering a fanfic lol I just wonder if there’s anything out there that describes what John’s music tastes was in those days or whether he preferred to stick with his favorite classics; early rock and roll, girl groups ect. Like what did he think about the punk scene in NY?? Or the close harmonies a la Fleetwood Mac that dominated the charts? Just things I think about haha.
Hi, thanks for the question. I know that I skipped through a book called John Lennon: 1980 playlist by Tim English before, that may be a good source for you. Here's some random info, that I remembered where to look up. I think Julian introducing John to Queen comes from the SPIN magazine interview in '75:
[Julian] likes Barry White and he likes Gilbert O’ Sullivan. He likes Queen, though I haven’t heard them yet. He turns me on to music. I call him and he says, “Have you heard Queen?” and I say “No, what is it?” I’ve heard of them. I’ve seen the guy … the one who looks like Hitler playing a piano … Sparks? I’ve seen Sparks on American TV. So I call him and say, “Have you seen Sparks? Hitler on the piano?” and he says, “No. They are alright. But have you seen Queen?” and I say “What’s Queen?” and then he tells me. His age group is hipper to music … at 11 I was aware of music, but not too much.
But then there is also an anecdote, I think by Tony Barrow, that John didn't want to sign Queen to Apple years earlier? However that may be a lie, or John just didn't remember.
Yoko gifted John a jukebox for his birthday in '78 and apparently John filled it with the old music he liked. Elliott Mintz says there was quite some Bing Crosby. And I remember John also putting some new song by Dolly Parton in there.
"Yoko gave him this old-fashioned jukebox and John stocked it with Bing Crosby records. People kind of expected him to have rock 'n' roll records in there, but it was almost totally Crosby stuff. There were 3 songs which John played over and over. I still remember them. They were Crosby with a jazz quartet from the 50's, I think. He would banter and talk in the songs and John thought that was just the end. The songs were Whispering, I'm Gonna Sit Right Down and Write Myself a Letter and Dream a Little Dream of Me. Yeah, those were the songs, I can still see John listening to them." - Elliott Mintz
“The one modern song I remember him listening to was ‘The Tide Is High’ by Blondie, which he played constantly. When I hear that song, I see my father, unshaven, his hair pulled back into a ponytail, dancing to and fro in a worn-out pair of denim shorts, with me at his feet, trying my best to coordinate tiny limbs.” - Sean Lennon
One night we were playing at Max's (Kansas City) in New York City, and I was waiting for everyone to leave the club so I could go back in and pick up my gear. We were sitting in the van waiting and John Lennon and Ian Hunter from Mott the Hoople came staggering out and looked over. John Lennon saw it was me and stuck his head in the window. He was kind of drunk and stuck his face right against mine and went 'yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah' because he recognized it (Devo's song Uncontrollable Urge) as being an updating of She Loves You. That was one of my most exciting moments ever. - Mark Mothersbaugh on John coming to a DEVO gig in '77
PB: John, what is your opinion of the newer waves? Lennon: I love all this punky stuff. It's pure. I'm not, however, crazy about the people that destroy themselves. Playboy interview, 1980
I like pop records. I like Olivia Newton-John singing "Magic" and Donna Summer whatever the hell she'll be singing. I like ELO singing "All over the World". I can dissect it and criticize it with any critic in the business...But without any thought I enjoy it! That's the kind of music I like to hear. - John
John Lennon raced into Yoko Ono’s home office in the mammoth old Dakota building with a copy of Donna Summer’s new single, “The Wanderer.” “Listen!” he shouted to us as he put the 45 on the record player. “She’s doing Elvis!” I didn’t know what he was talking about at first. The arrangement felt more like rock than the singer’s usual electro-disco approach, but the opening vocal sure sounded like Donna Summer to me. Midway through the song, however, her voice shifted into the playful, hiccuping style Elvis had used on so many of his early recordings. “See! See!” John shouted, pointing at the speakers. The record was John’s way of saying hello again after five years. [...] It was just weeks before his death in December of 1980, and his playing the Summer record was an endearing greeting -- and one that was typical of John. Of the hundreds of musicians I’ve met, John was among the most down-to-earth. Corn Flakes with John Lennon (And Other Tales From a Rock ‘n’ Roll Life) by Robert Hilburn
"I'm aware of ... Madness. "Don't do that. Do this." (As on the spoken word intro to "One Step Beyond".) I think that is the most original thing actually because it's so peculiar. ... Out of all that mob I think that was one of the most original sounds. Very good drumming, very good bass and all of that." Andy Peebles interview
And things I don't have quotes for right now: I remember Bob Gruen had given John some video compilation of punk bands, that John enjoyed watching. In one of the last interviews John said Hungry Heart by Bruce Springsteen was a great song. There are the albums John asked Fred Seaman to buy on his shopping lists. Some are printed in The John Lennon Letters (Though I'm not sure that means he liked them, but at least was interested in.) Lot's of Bob Dylan talk in the diaries and parodies. Many anecdotes about reggae bands. In the Double Fantasy studio recording John references quite some songs and artists, when he tells the musicians what they are aiming for in the songs.

i really like reading your thoughts on "girl"! i was just wondering what you think might happen after paul passes? do you think people will start to examine the relationship between them as something more than just songwriting partners? i mean nothing really changed when yoko said john was bisexual (and some fans still don't believe it!). in my wildest dreams, paul's estate will drop a posthumous tell all book and we'll be left with so many questions lol.
John himself said he was queer several times - I remember watching an interview with him when he was saying being an artist in a capitalist world requires money and that if he wasn't famous he'd need to have married "a rich old lady or man" to be a songwriter.
He also said he hooked up with Brian in Spain (Yoko confirmed he told the press they did "do it" and she was seemingly applauding his bravery in saying so).
Lennon remarked that he was "afraid of the fag in him" which made him act on his anger and set off his worst most fearsome temper explosions.
Also I think there was a few "tell alls" where past friends reported that he was open about his queerness & confirmed hooking up with Brian in frustration.
May Pang wrote that he told her he considered (lol) an affair with Paul. He spent two years in gay clubs in LA.
Yoko also confirmed he was bi (as far she she knew, maybe later on had he not been murdered he'd have identified as gay or pan).
Elton John said he and Lennon did "naughty" things together and laughed about said things with Sean, his godson. Julian Lennon did an interview where he said he "agreed" that John and Paul were in love during the Get Back film period.
Lennon also contributed a first-person poem the First Gay Liberation book.
Those are just the examples I can think of off the top of my head. He also seems to have had a relationship of some kind with Stu (conjecture) and an obvious-departed-from-platonic dynamic with Paul which is easily, easily an emotionally romantic affair at least (which isn't the half of it).
Anyone who denies his queerness does a great disservice to his memory & the incredible poignancy of his songs in this context during his time period. Artists have been reworking the lyrics and wording of their queer songs to appeal to an unaccepting general audience for commerciality FOREVER and to assume this was not done by Lennon, who is "confirmed" queer (if you needed to hear it from Yoko for it to be true to you) is truly delusion.
I think after Paul has left us people will feel more comfortable analyzing their relationship in a queer sense and I do think at some point it has likely been engineered that something to that effect will be officially announced or endorsed in some regard by their Estates (to generate continued moneymaking lol and interest and enigma). I feel like that's something that could happen, reasonably, after Yoko is gone and her hold on the Lennon narrative is diluted into Sean's POV & the McCartney family has the freedom to speculate or give their personal feelings on the life of their beloved father in retrospect. There's also the chance Paul could say something or leave something to that effect before he leaves us.
I feel like Paul would never say anything otherwise because John never got to endorse any release of their personal history before his tragic and senseless murder in a time period where being gay was still treated with such bigotry and cruelty (the 80s). I feel like Paul's great respect for Jane Asher and their relationship is a testament to this because he has never spoken about their relationship out of respect for her - for the exact reason that she has never spoke publically about it herself.
Paul is a pragmatic and private person and I feel like he knows the majority of the ignorant world isn't ready to hear the biggest band in human history was founded on teenaged homoromantic affection/gay love. But maybe one day, it will be.
This is speculation on my part but Paul also probably doesn't want Yoko to know anything because either she is willfully ignorant or John truly wasn't honest with her and Paul feels it's something she doesn't deserve to know - especially if it's something John kept private & only between he and Paul. It's something he always has that's over and beyond what Yoko and John had & he seems to treasure those specific things no matter what they are. Obviously... Paul still doesn't care for Yoko and he is probably extremely fatigued of the fact that she has been the managing agent & author of John's estate for 40 years (when in the late 70s she and John seemed on unsteady terms as per other parties) and then treated Julian with such disregard. Sean on the other hand seems to have grown to love Paul, but we'll see lol.
I also feel like Paul probably has a few "surprises" for Beatles fans lined up for after he and Ringo are gone - he just seems like that kind of person and wants the Beatles to continue on in great esteem for many many years to come.
thank you for your ask!!

Hear me out... Eddie with a glamrock aesthetic boyfriend. Eddie has the metal vibe, but this guy... Queen, David Bowie, Elton John, Abba, any 70s-80s classic rock you can think of, he's in love with it
I didn't really put much glamrock aesthetic in this, but the reader does have his nails painted and wears tight pants, so maybe that counts? This was heavily inspired by the nose piercing I got earlier today, (I was all excited to get it but I kinda don't like it lol rip) and I do want to give a little warning cause Eddie gets a little jealous.
When an idea came to your head, you would constantly think about it until you did what you had in mind, or you moved on to something else. This time, the idea was to get your nose pierced.
“I’m not saying I hope your piercing closes up again, so you can bleach your hair,” you sent Eddie a glare, “who am I kidding, that’s exactly what I’m saying,” he finished quietly to himself. This wasn’t actually your first time getting your nose pierced, you had it done years ago, but had to take it out because of your old job. In your moment of anger after the piercing closed up, you thought of the great idea to bleach your hair. It was a dark time, but it’s how you met Eddie.
“Bad hair day?” Eddie asked after you accidentally bumped into him and dropped the hair dye you were holding.
“How can you tell?” You asked, a sarcastic edge to your voice.
To answer your question, he pulled down the hood that guarded his hair. You weren’t sure what it was supposed to look like, but it certainly looked like an angry bird had created an even angrier bird’s nest. “It’s okay, you can laugh.”
“So I can fuck it up again and fry my scalp in the process?” You asked.
“You looked cute!” Eddie proclaimed, loud enough that the person on the opposite side of the street turned around to glance in your direction.
“Shut up, Eddie,” you said, not even trying to hide that what he said brought a smile to your face. You glanced at Eddie, noticing the smug look on his face, “you better wipe that look off of your face,” you warned, the smile still on your face.
“You know how to make me, babe,” Eddie said. He placed one of his hands in yours, lacing your fingers together. The two of you walked silently the rest of the way to the tattoo parlor.
You left the tattoo parlor in the same way you entered. This time though, it was with one side of your nase aching and a suspiciously silent boyfriend.
“What’s wrong, Eddie?” You asked, lacing your fingers together again. It didn’t take too long to get the piercing done, but it was already night when you walked out the door. “Are you mad at the piercer because he stabbed me?” You asked.
“I’m mad at the piercer because he was all over you,” Eddie grumbled out.
You sent him a confused look. The streetlights along the sidewalks back to your car did their best to illuminate your path, they also did their best in showing how pissed off Eddie currently looked.
“He kept complimenting your nails, and you practically wanted to rip your pants off!” Eddie sneered.
You had to turn your neck away and cover your mouth to hide your snicker. Eddie had a knack for the dramatics, but he was completely valid in his feelings. “You did do a good job at painting them,” you held up the hand that was currently holding Eddie’s to look at your nails which he had painted black just a few hours ago. “And my ass does look nice in these pants, don’t they?”
Eddie pulled you off the street and into an empty alleyway and pushed you against the wall, “I’m the only one that gets to rip your pants off,” he growled.
You smirked at Eddie, and wrapped your arms around his neck, “is that so, big boy?”
Eddie let out an angry little huff before pressing his lips to yours in a harsh kiss. The kiss made your nose ache when Eddie’s nose pressed against the hoop in your own, but you didn’t pull away, only let out a light moan when his tongue ventured into your mouth.
“Let’s go home, big guy,” you said when the kiss ended. As you stepped out of the alleyway to continue to your car, Eddie trailed behind you like a lost puppy.

Hmm, let's see.
Sonic, questions 2, 5 and 7 for the character ask game?
2. Favorite canon thing about this character?
id probably say the way that his friends always come before him and the world in his eyes
it's really common for media to have the hero choose saving the world first, so i like that this is different. sure it's a little selfish, but he is 15
5. What's the first song that comes to mind when you think about them?
saying a song from sonic games would be cheating, wouldn't it?? lmao
uhhmmm im still standing by elton john and if we have each other by alec benjamin are the two i can think of off the top of my head.
im still standing comes to mind because of pretty obvious reasons i think lol while sonic has been faced up against many impossible odds, he always kept fighting them
if we have each other came to mind because it shows how important it is to have a bond with someone
7. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you like?
love love love when people work around the sega mandates and let him be vulnerable and show negative emotions
i love it when people let him cry or go nonverbal or just any little clue to him shutting down. he is 15 years old and has been saving since he was 10, let him cry goddamnit

I wanted to watch Emma, and I was thinking of watching the 2009 version, but my mom wanted to watch the Gwyneth Paltrow version from 1996, which I hadn’t seen before, so here’s a few thoughts:
I didn’t think I’d like Gwyneth Paltrow as Emma—I was wrong, she was good! I think I still like Romola Garai better, but she was great!
The costume and set design was lovely—I wanted ALL of Jane’s dresses (*Anne voice* the puffed sleeves!!)
The score was also really nice
I loved how Emma and Mr. Knightley’s argument about Harriet happens while they’re doing archery—also “try not to kill my dogs” was a nice addition, lol
On the whole this version spent a lot of time outside, and those scenes were beautiful to look at
This Mr. Elton was the worst. Excellent (although I’ve never seen an adaptation slack on this point)
BLESS THEM for letting Ewan McGregor sing. BLESS THEM
Why did they do his hair like that though. They really didn’t have to do that to him
However, despite this he might be my favorite Frank Churchill
I loved Emma and Mr. Knightley’s conversation during the ball (him reaching for her hands but stopping himself!!) and how they are outside with the ball framed in the windows behind them. 10/10.
The Box Hill Incident and the subsequent “badly done, Emma!” scene didn’t hit with the same sort of punch this time around—probably because a) they didn’t really show how miserable that party was or Frank egging Emma on at all, so Emma’s insult to Miss Bates seemed to kind of come out of nowhere, and b) while the Mr. Knightley scolding Emma scene was not badly done (hehe) at all, he is a bit gentler (at least in delivery) than other Knightley’s I’ve watched. Not necessarily a bad thing, I rather like it as a different take of his character, but I think it might’ve taken away the punchiness slightly. However, having Emma face away from him during his lecture so he can’t see how upset she is was a great choice.
They kind of slacked on the hints about Jane and Frank being secretly engaged, aside from a few shots of them looking at each other for half a second, which was a shame.
No “I cannot make speeches, Emma”??? No “if I loved you less I could talk about it more”??? JAIL. JAIL. JAIL JAIL JAIL JAIL JAIL. JAAAAAIIIIILLLL.
However, on the whole, this version was pretty good! I’d rate it probably at the same level as the 2020 version. But 2009 wins every time.

For the Hobie Brown fans here’s some black alt./punk music to try! I’m also gonna list 1-2 songs I’d start with since it can be overwhelming to pick a song sometimes!(with links for your convenience)
DE’WAYNE - Simple(ft.IDKHBTFM) or GOOD MOOD(ft.Grandson)
Dude’s got a lot of variety in his music. You’ll like at least one of his songs I promise. SIMPLE is more of a softball, I think it’s still alt. but leans more indie rather than punk. And it still amps up a bit at the end. Point is, I think it’s a really good song to start with, especially if you don’t listen to more punk/alt. music. GOOD MOOD I just think is a lot of fun, and does give spider people/vigilante vibes. In general dude also has a lot of collabs with artists most of you know: IDKHBTFM, Grandson, Sophie Powers, Chase Atlantic, Good Charlotte, etc.
Nova Twins - K.M.B(kill my boyfriend)
Ahh love them(and so does Elton John apparently lol)! Literally had such a hard time deciding what song to pick for this. I haven’t heard one of their songs that I didn’t like. They have a more electronic(?) sound in some songs, but their songs are wicked catchy and will live in your head if you listen to them more than once. I almost put Athena, Bassline Bitch, Wave, Twitch, or Cleopatra.
H09909 - Punk Police(ft.N8NOFACE)
They have a lot of good punk music, but this song screams Hobie Brown. If you like Hobie Brown pls listen to this song, you’ll understand what I’m talking about when you listen. Even if punk music isn’t your thing I’d still give this one a listen. I’ve also been listening to the album United States of Horror on repeat and it’s so good.
POORSTACY - Hills Have Eyes
Love these guys! They also got a fair amount of variety in their discography. Even got a collab with DE’WAYNE called Die Out Here. Honestly couldn’t even decide what song to put! I almost put Party At The Cemetery or Jump.
Rico Nasty - Black Punk
I guarantee you’ve heard a Rico Nasty song before. She combines rap and punk in a really cool way and has a very unique sound! I figured this song was the best one for this list, but I promise we’ve all heard ‘Smack A Bitch’ at this point, I also like OHFR and Rage. She’s got a bunch of collabs with artists like Flo milli and Doja Cat.
LustSickPuppy - Goatmeal
I only recently started listening to these guys but it’s a good vibe. The music videos are very chaotic and very creative! Goatmeal is their most known song rn and it has a very fun and fast sound. Again a little more electronic(which I don’t normally like) but it is very much a song you wanna bounce to. They got a collab with Bonnie Baxter called Bothered that I also really like.
Note: most of these are pretty basic/well known. I know nothing about music terminology or music theory, I also haven’t seen or looked very hard for anything problematic these artists have done so don’t come for me.

to begin my noble quest of being more annoying (a neutral term for me meaning: efforts to be more outspoken about my interests)
i literally just want to make lists of shit i am into so you all can get a better feel for who i am and why i write what i do and hopefully find things in common <3
music: not to be that guy but i genuinely do listen to everything. though not in a "play whatever it's nbd," but in a "music has been a special interest of mine since childhood and i have made hours long multi-genre playlists every month since my senior year of high school" BUT some current favorites include: Blondshell Searows Elton John (and by extension George Michael, duh. friendship of the century. Elton just came first and led me to George) Simon and Garfunkel Faye Webster Dijon Eagles Feist The Sundays Prince Chappell Roan Gorillaz Fiona Apple i am cutting myself off now, but trust there are many more and they are swirling in my head at all times.
film similarly i have such a taste for movies that's all over the place and often go against people's perception of me (i am a lesbian with a philosophy minor whose primary focus was feminist theory and i fucking loves James Bond) but that's what makes it FUN! film and fiction in general is literally a playground. So this is gonna be a mix of specific movies and directors! James Bond (2006 Casino Royale is the best, you can fight me on this but i won't listen) Memento Only Yesterday and Porco Rosso (by Studio Ghibli) Emma (2020 version by Autumn de Wilde) But I'm a Cheerleader Say Anything Rocketman Kingsman: The Secret Service You've Got Mail The Usual Suspects Eyes Wide Shut and our newest addition, Saltburn <333 David Cronenberg (Crash and Dead Ringers especially) David Lynch (Fire Walk with Me and Blue Velvet especially)
tv let's just go simple here The X Files Twin Peaks The L Words Buffy The Vampire Slayer John Doe Bob's Burgers King of the Hill Futurama
literature listen, i have a lit degree but i am also who i am, so my favorite books are usually the last good ones i read. that being said, my most longstanding favorites and the authors i return to are: Haruki Murakami (1Q84, Norwegian Wood, After the Quake, etc. i have genuinely read 80% of this man's 50 years of writing at this point) Melissa Febos Sally Rooney James Baldwin Ottessa Moshfegh Oliver K. Langmead Iain Reid Sean Hewitt hobbies i collect 'em! acoustic and electric guitar crocheting, knitting, embroidering quilting jewelry making collaging indie perfume (i will no doubt be gushing about this more on this account because i also connect perfumes to my characters/projects and i have upwards of 100 scents in my collection) if you are still here you rock i have also thought of starting a youtube channel for literal years (like many of us late 90s-early 00s kids i have tried several times throughout the worst years of adolescence lol) to just talk about writing and also alllll of that. idk if it will happen but if it does think of this as a sort of primer!

It wouldn't be unusual for them to attend parties if they where in town. (Though we do know neither T nor Z are big partiers, after all she left the LV party after five minutes 🤣). A lot of actors who don’t attend the Oscars ceremony will go to the pre parties and after parties to network. CAA, for example, throws a big pre-party for their clients (i believe it also serves as a benefit fundraiser). And of course the Vanity Fair after party is a big deal. Elton John's party, i think Madonna has a big one now. Some still go to the Sunset Tower even though the Vanjty Fair party has moved to a bigger space.
I guess that's true.... But at Tom and Zendaya's level of fame, do they REALLY need to "network" though? 🤔
I mean, think about it lol 😅 They're perhaps two of the biggest (if not THEE BIGGEST) young actors in their age bracket right now. I'm not really seeing where they actually need to attend these parties in order to network. 🤔 Their agents can get them mtgs with ppl if needed. They have pretty good connections. If they did attend these parties it would simply just be to mingle, have some fun, and enjoy a party. 🤷🏾‍♀️
Back in the day, Zendaya used to just go to red carpets even when she wasn't invited simply to be photographed and be seen.
Now that she has a lot more clout and fame, and is getting "adult" roles on the screen, she doesn't need to do that stuff anymore lol.
Plus, like you said, Tom and Z are grandparents anyway lol, so they're not usually big on attending industry events and parties to begin with haha 😆 😄 They'd probably only attend smthg if required.

Do you think 1 of the Sam and Colby duo is difficult to get along with (or both of them) or do you truly believe so many of their friends have turned out to be fake friends? I ask because they seem to have fallen out or cut ties with so many people over the years that it feels out of the ordinary.
this is an interesting question. i think it's a bit complicated and has a lot of layers to it.
this is so long so... sorry in advance lol
first off, when it comes to their old friend group, i don't think they were besties with every single person in it. you gotta remember a lot of it was just an extension of other ppl they were close to. so there was snc, corey, and jake. then you have their gfs - kat, devyn, and tara. then you have reggie, jake's brother, who also has a gf (now fiance) cassie. then there's xepher who snc were friends with, who used to date mike, and mike was friends with aryia and kevin. and then jake had his friend griffin join the group and then him and xepher started dating. and if you really want to add on, elton was way in the back as just someone they used to live with and collabed with for a while and were friends with before. and aaron was also someone they lived with and were close to, and he had a gf at one point too.
so like, from just the core four of the old trap house it extends into like five or six more ppl, that then extends more. that being said, do i think snc were best friends with someone like cassie? no. they just knew her by acquaintance.
also snc have never addressed anything so whatever occurred with their old friends, we will never know. and on top of that, snc don't really cut ties with ppl unless really necessary so they're still all friendly with everyone in the group, they just aren't as close as they once were. and sometimes that's not due to drama. friends just drift apart.
that being said… here are some things i've heard thru the grapevine as to why maybe some of the ppl don't vibe with snc anymore/stopped for a while lol
aaron and snc were never that close, but they were roommates/collabed sometimes. when snc moved out of the trap house and into apartments, there was a period of time that colby in particular was vocal about living with someone that he felt used snc. all signs pointed to aaron. that beef eventually got squashed and they are relatively friendly with each other (they just don't interact).
mike had issues with everyone during the pandemic bc he felt like no one checked on him when he was struggling mentally. he went way for like three months, and came back and basically stopped being friends with everyone except colby, jake, and tara. he had lived with kevin and aryia, and basically disavowed them.
from leaked dms between mike and a fan, he explained that kevin only reached out at one point after mike unfollowed him. and then kevin apparently told fans that snc and co weren't being nice and were 'using him'. mike then explained that no, that's not true, and that snc had to sit kevin down and tell him to stop filming them all the time and when that happened kevin ghosted them and said they were bad friends.
mike also explained at some point that he and sam got into an argument and kat "put her nose in where it didn't belong", so that's kinda why he stopped vibing with snc, and only stuck to colby.
aryia moved away after living in the krac house that included him, kevin, reggie, and cassie bc he hated la. he has since moved back and seems friendly with everyone (minus mike) still.
reggie at one point complained on a stream that he wanted to stream more but he had no time bc he was editing snc's personal channel videos. sam heard that during some video or something and said "oh okay, he doesn't have to edit for us anymore." and then…. reggie stopped editing for them lol
i've explained this before, but i think what occurred between corey and jake with snc is that when they all lived in the old trap house it was rented between them all and aaron. so if they trashed it, it was a group issue. but once snc bought the house that they now rent out to ppl in la, the new trap house/last trap house, it was their house to own. and so, jake and corey were just renters. so when snc became landlords (basically), i think jake and corey didn't vibe with that bc snc were probably a little more strict about things that were allowed to happen.
jake alluded on a stream that he wasn't allowed to be loud or to do anything crazy, like film a music video, even tho kat could do that. also, even colby has admitted this, but sam controlled the ac and apparently he likes it on the warmer side so sometimes the house was hot. after all of this, he moved out.
corey explained that he wanted to move out to pursue other things like music. then he moved in with elton, and once they started working together, 25x25 happened. elton felt like snc copied tfil with 25x25, and that's kind when corey's relationship with them went south. and then recently-ish, corey admitted that elton and him only collab with friends. and when fans asked about jake (and snc), corey said that jake doesn't believe in paranormal so collabing is a bit hard. aka, he's not friends with snc anymore. but that's not surprising.
also tara and kat had some form of falling out but idk what happened there. i think it was believed to be something with sam and jake, and then the gfs just kinda picked their bfs sides, but idk for certain.
so, is there a common denominator? sorta. sam (and kat to some extent) definitely seems to be the boundary setter and the one that puts his foot down, but also the one that probably pushes things too far and that pisses ppl off so they back away. a lot of the old friends still vibe with colby, even when they didn't vibe with sam so….. yeah lol but colby also doesn't know how to end a friendship so it's a bit tough to tell what truly is happening completely.
this also doesn't get into the fact that there was a time period in 2021 that snc weren't succeeding, which was a first, and everyone kinda jumped ship bc let's be honest here, all of their old friends benefitted from being their friend. and once the cash cow isn't bringing in the cash, you gotta move on. but then snc started succeeding again and all of their old friends now vibe with them again. what a coincidence. that's not to say that all of their old friends that are back in their life are fake. i think some of them genuinely missed snc - like jake. once colby announced his cancer diagnosis, it probably shocked jake enough to realize that petty shit isn't really worth holding onto. that's just my guess.
and all the gfs just kinda followed suit with whatever their bfs were doing so… that's also explains the girls not talking to snc anymore but now tara vibing again with them.

Kiyoshi left the party soon after Ji Ho and Vlad. It was hard for him to be nice to the Day Class who think he is one of them again...
And then he ran into an obviously drunk Ms Coombes... Ms Coombes: “Hey! You better treat him RIGHT! I pity you *mumble* together with the other class but *mumble* need to find out what’s going ON!”
Tumblr media
MS Coombes: “I know I’m too harsh to him, but you know it too - he needs a strong HAND. But also someone to lean on ... *mumble* can trust after all he went through ... someone to LOVE!” Kiyoshi: “Please ... Ms Coombes! I’ll do everything you ask of me - but please be quiet!”
(Kiyoshi is afraid Ms Coombes will endanger their mission and put Jack in jeopardy if someone should hear them.)
Tumblr media
Ms Coombes: “You ... YOU! ... do not tell me what I have TO DO!”
LOL Sebastian had finally put a shirt on and heard everything! And he thinks she is talking about him! He is not even aware that Ms Coombes is not on their side. (luckily she didn’t mention any names or which class she is speaking of Ö.ö’)
Tumblr media
Shortly after his disturbing conversation with Ms Coombes, he saw Jack sitting near the pond (where Kiyoshi’s pyre once was) and approached him to do what Ms Coombes had asked of him...
Tumblr media
Jack seemed happy to see him...
Tumblr media
But then Jack was reminded that Kiyoshi was at the Lab and works for the Council again and Kiyoshi thought of that day when Jack had left him...

Gilbert O’Sullivan feat Elton John - Get Down (1973)
… Told you once before And I won't tell you no more Get down, get down, get down You're a bad dog, baby But I still want you around…
You give me the creeps When you jump on your feet So get down, get down, get down Keep your hands to yourself I'm strictly out of bounds…
Once upon a time, I drank a little wine Was as happy as could be, happy as could be Now I'm just like a cat on a hot tin roof Baby, what do you think you're doing to me

Are there any songs/genres/bands you wish more WC MAPS would use + characters that should have more MAPS focused on them?
Cuz as much as I love MAPS, I really wish there was more variety music-wise and character-wise.
i should probably make the disclaimer that i know jack shit about music and my taste in it ranges from really great songs to Dog Shit. i unironically love rwby songs (yes. even caffeine.), i still listen to high school musical sometimes (bet on it is a breezepelt song fyi) so i'm not sure if im the best person buuuuuut-
im biased as hell im interested in leafpool, dovewing, nightcloud, and breezepelt tbh i want more of them because i like them a lot and im not really satisfied with how theyre often depicted in projects
leafpool and crowfeather's relationship but with skinwretch's interpretation, a lonely and scared she-cat with her back little pressed to the cliff as the man who hesitated to pull her up confesses his love to her. what is she supposed to do? suffocating in loneliness, under a dude who does not genuinely care about her, and a god that has rebuked her.
dovewing's isolation, jayfeather and lionblaze less as bland figures and more as the domineering tight-leashed figures they were to her. her isolation, how being snubbed hurt her. her rebellion trhu her relationship wtith tigerheart. arrgghghghh!!!!
i'd love more earnest, kinder depictions of nightcloud that develop her beyond just crowfeather's bitch wife who looks jealously at leafpool or yells at him. more that focus on her role in the coup, her relationship with breezepelt, more of that.
*holds a megaphone* depictions of breezepelt's abuse that aren't just crowfeather ignoring him but how crowfeather legitimately hurt, berated, and abused his child. why is every depiction of their relationship so fucking watered down, it's always just crowfeather looking away with a forlorn expression while breezepelt punches a wall.
for song wise, i genuinely don't understand how see you again by tyler, the creator hasn't been used yet for any romantic pairings. like fuck. im biased but kali uchis' parts are sooo pretty
Tumblr media
this one is more comedy focused but i genuinely think a 9 to 5 by dolly parton animation about squirrelflight managing her husband and her duties as deputy would be fun lol
Tumblr media
more fleetwood mac??? altogether??? why the fuck isn't the chain used more. what is genuinely wrong with people that the chain isn't the most overused song I HAVE BARELY SEEN IT USED. LITTLE LIES?? DREAMS???? RHIANNON???????? I CAN'T LIVE LIKE THIS. MORE FLEETWOOD MAC.
joy oladokun creates gorgeous and atmospheric music and i have never seen her music be used which is genuinely fucking disappointing. breathe again and sunday are my favorites of hers and i think breathe again would make a banger leafpool project
Tumblr media
and sunday would be make a banger breezepelt project.
Tumblr media
BONUS ONE! my main inspiration for fallen stars is star man by elton john :) i like it a lot

Music asks:
20, 23, 24, 29 & 30!!💜
Thank you!!! 💜💜
20: A song that has many meanings to you
Daniel, by Elton John
(There is some Family History involving this song, so listening to it is always kind of bittersweet and reminds me of my family)
23: A song that you think everybody should listen to
Working, Drunk or Hungover, by Astral Yeehaw
("Your dad gave you magic and mine gave me bipolar" lives in my head rent free)
24: A song by a band you wish were still together
Thirty-three, by The Smashing Pumpkins
(I don't necessarily wish they were still together because I've heard the singer was a nightmare to work with, but I miss the vibes the music had, you know?)
29: A song that you remember from your childhood
Re-Hash, by Gorillaz
(Their first album was also the first CD I ever bought with my own money)
Or, if anyone wants to try some Brazilian music:
O Descobrimento do Brasil, by Legião Urbana
(It's one of the most famous Brazilian rock bands of the 80s and early 90s, my older siblings listened to them a lot and I kind of inherited the taste)
30: A song that reminds you of yourself
One, by Sleeping at Last
(When I was in my personality quiz phase, I remember reading about enneagrams and then finding out that Sleeping at Last had made songs for all nine types, and this one kind of stuck with me. Guess which type I am lol)

Okay I'll write in points here because it's long
It started with Freddie saying something like they are gonna stay together until they die and I thought how poignant it is in hindsight.
I loved Brian May's insights the starting was very sweet with him telling us that him and Freddie shared rooms for a decade, that he knows him really well and about how shy he was until firmly saying that he was gay even if people don't want to believe it. There was another person saying the same thing, I forgot her name but I think it's unfortunate that it's really common for people to outright ignore or deny any queer artists' identity just because they don't want to deal with whatever biases they have going.
Roger Taylor was really mad about the media/tabloids attacking Freddie and I get it especially The Sun because it's still trash today. Just vile and immoral for no reason.
Then it went to them saying that the band had a guess of what's going on with Freddie because they saw him disappear for treatments and coming back with scars but not wanting to believe it so they just never brought it and made a whole album before Freddie ultimately told them.
All the pictures with Jim Hutton were really cute I have to say and his sister saying that she was told that he was the gardener but he was around every time she went to her brother's house so she put 2+2 together lol.
The minute Anita Dobson came on screen I was trying to remember where I had seen her then I remembered it was the doctor who clips that were going viral on Twitter. But she seems so sweet and she had really cute story about how she became friends with Freddie and how he introduced her to Jim. She did say that Freddie told her when he couldn't sing anymore he'll die and that's she thinks what happened. She also seemed really sad that she lost contact with Jim I guess they were close.
Also I got more songs from this documentary so I'm really happy about that, I just googled the lyrics.
I didn't know Elton John was really close with Freddie, he seemed so heartbroken in all the videos they played of him.
Also Joe Elliot was there that was a surprise, was he friends with Freddie? I know I have heard Robert Plant talk about Freddie Mercury before. I secretly adore the idea of all these frontman that people like to pit against each other being friends in real life.
I might watch the tribute concert or atleast the George Micheal's part of it, he sounded so good and David Bowie was clapping from the sidelines during the rehearsal ( I get it, he was superb )
I feel like I got insights to the entire band' dynamic so thats nice because we have all heard Bands going like oh we like each other, we are a family but when one of you is gone and how the rest treat their memory is the true test of that.
I'll respond in bullet points lol
Brian was great in the documentary, and is one of Freddie's most consistent defenders, especially in regards to his sexuality. I love when Brian talks about knowing Freddie so well through sharing rooms and talking about his shyness, because you can just feel the fondness there and get the distinct sense that he loved Freddie the human being as opposed to the showman, which can't be said for everyone who knew Freddie
Yeah, The Sun was particularly vile, and the band really hated the press. Brian wrote the song "Scandal" in 1989 for the album, The Miracle, because the press was hounding Freddie (and Brian about his affair and divorce, but that's another story). I can't remember if this documentary mentioned it, but the fact that the press had set up a camera to see into Freddie's bathroom is just so vile
The Miracle is the album that they made before Freddie told them the truth. If you listen to the album, there are a couple songs hinting at what's going on, because as you saw, the band knew something was wrong. Fun fact: one of Brian's favorite songs that Freddie wrote is "The Miracle" because Freddie was able to write about beautiful things while he was sick
Lol yes, Kashmira knowing that Jim was Freddie's partner was funny
Yep, Anita was in Doctor Who! Her most famous role was in EastEnders in the 80s. There's another interview where she talked about an episode of that show being viewed by millions of people, and overnight people knew her face, and Freddie called her up like, "Guess who's in the paper, darling ;)" Anita was a true friend to Freddie and visited him while he was ill with Brian. Yeah, her theory that Freddie stopped fighting when he couldn't sing anymore lines up...Freddie's last song was "Mother Love"; Brian was the one who wrote it, but Freddie had to go home before it was finished because he was feeling unwell. He said he'd be back, but he never returned to the studio...And yeah, that doc revealed that Anita kept in touch with Jim to some extent. I really wonder what that relationship was like
Yes, Elton John was very close to Freddie! He still tears up when he talks about receiving a Christmas gift from Freddie a mere month after he passed...
I can't remember with the Joe Elliott thing tbh. I think he knew Freddie? I also feel like I'm remembering that he called up Brian after Freddie passed to check in on him, so maybe he was on friendly terms with the band, yeah
The doc does show how close the band was towards the end and how protective Brian and Roger are of Freddie's memory at the very least, yeah. It's really a great doc and I'm glad you watched it and got something out of it
